Swaiyas In Praise Of The Third Mehl:

ੴ ਸਤਿਗੁਰ ਪ੍ਰਸਾਦਿ ॥

ੴ सतिगुर प्रसादि ॥

Īk-õamkkaari saŧigur prsaađi ||

One Universal Creator God. By The Grace Of The True Guru:

ਸੋਈ ਪੁਰਖੁ ਸਿਵਰਿ ਸਾਚਾ ਜਾ ਕਾ ਇਕੁ ਨਾਮੁ ਅਛਲੁ ਸੰਸਾਰੇ ॥

सोई पुरखु सिवरि साचा जा का इकु नामु अछलु संसारे ॥

Soëe purakhu sivari saachaa jaa kaa īku naamu âchhalu sanssaare ||

Dwell upon that Primal Being, the True Lord God; in this world, His One Name is Undeceivable.

ਜਿਨਿ ਭਗਤ ਭਵਜਲ ਤਾਰੇ ਸਿਮਰਹੁ ਸੋਈ ਨਾਮੁ ਪਰਧਾਨੁ ॥

जिनि भगत भवजल तारे सिमरहु सोई नामु परधानु ॥

Jini bhagaŧ bhavajal ŧaare simarahu soëe naamu parađhaanu ||

He carries His devotees across the terrifying world-ocean; meditate in remembrance on His Naam, Supreme and Sublime.

ਤਿਤੁ ਨਾਮਿ ਰਸਿਕੁ ਨਾਨਕੁ ਲਹਣਾ ਥਪਿਓ ਜੇਨ ਸ੍ਰਬ ਸਿਧੀ ॥

तितु नामि रसिकु नानकु लहणा थपिओ जेन स्रब सिधी ॥

Ŧiŧu naami rasiku naanaku lahañaa ŧhapiõ jen srb siđhee ||

Nanak delighted in the Naam; He established Lehnaa as Guru, who was imbued with all supernatural spiritual powers.

ਕਵਿ ਜਨ ਕਲੵ ਸਬੁਧੀ ਕੀਰਤਿ ਜਨ ਅਮਰਦਾਸ ਬਿਸ੍ਤਰੀਯਾ ॥

कवि जन कल्य सबुधी कीरति जन अमरदास बिस्तरीया ॥

Kavi jan kalʸ sabuđhee keeraŧi jan âmarađaas bisŧreeyaa ||

ਕੀਰਤਿ ਰਵਿ ਕਿਰਣਿ ਪ੍ਰਗਟਿ ਸੰਸਾਰਹ ਸਾਖ ਤਰੋਵਰ ਮਵਲਸਰਾ ॥

कीरति रवि किरणि प्रगटि संसारह साख तरोवर मवलसरा ॥

Keeraŧi ravi kirañi prgati sanssaarah saakh ŧarovar mavalasaraa ||

His Praises radiate throughout the world, like the rays of the sun, and the branches of the maulsar (fragrant) tree.

ਉਤਰਿ ਦਖਿਣਹਿ ਪੁਬਿ ਅਰੁ ਪਸ੍ਚਮਿ ਜੈ ਜੈ ਕਾਰੁ ਜਪੰਥਿ ਨਰਾ ॥

उतरि दखिणहि पुबि अरु पस्चमि जै जै कारु जपंथि नरा ॥

Ūŧari đakhiñahi pubi âru paschmi jai jai kaaru japanŧŧhi naraa ||

In the north, south, east and west, people proclaim Your Victory.

ਹਰਿ ਨਾਮੁ ਰਸਨਿ ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿ ਬਰਦਾਯਉ ਉਲਟਿ ਗੰਗ ਪਸ੍ਚਮਿ ਧਰੀਆ ॥

हरि नामु रसनि गुरमुखि बरदायउ उलटि गंग पस्चमि धरीआ ॥

Hari naamu rasani guramukhi barađaayaū ūlati gangg paschmi đhareeâa ||

The Guru spoke the Lord's Name with His mouth and broadcast it throughout the world, to turn the tide of the hearts of men.

ਸੋਈ ਨਾਮੁ ਅਛਲੁ ਭਗਤਹ ਭਵ ਤਾਰਣੁ ਅਮਰਦਾਸ ਗੁਰ ਕਉ ਫੁਰਿਆ ॥੧॥

सोई नामु अछलु भगतह भव तारणु अमरदास गुर कउ फुरिआ ॥१॥

Soëe naamu âchhalu bhagaŧah bhav ŧaarañu âmarađaas gur kaū phuriâa ||1||

That Undeceivable Naam, which carries the devotees across the world-ocean, came into Guru Amar Daas. ||1||


ਸਿਮਰਹਿ ਸੋਈ ਨਾਮੁ ਜਖੵ ਅਰੁ ਕਿੰਨਰ ਸਾਧਿਕ ਸਿਧ ਸਮਾਧਿ ਹਰਾ ॥

सिमरहि सोई नामु जख्य अरु किंनर साधिक सिध समाधि हरा ॥

Simarahi soëe naamu jakhʸ âru kinnar saađhik siđh samaađhi haraa ||

The gods and heavenly heralds, the Siddhas and seekers and Shiva in Samaadhi meditate in remembrance on the Naam, the Name of the Lord.

ਸਿਮਰਹਿ ਨਖੵਤ੍ਰ ਅਵਰ ਧ੍ਰੂ ਮੰਡਲ ਨਾਰਦਾਦਿ ਪ੍ਰਹਲਾਦਿ ਵਰਾ ॥

सिमरहि नख्यत्र अवर ध्रू मंडल नारदादि प्रहलादि वरा ॥

Simarahi nakhʸŧr âvar đhroo manddal naarađaađi prhalaađi varaa ||

The stars and the realms of Dhroo, and devotees like Naaraad and Prahlaad meditate on the Naam.

ਸਸੀਅਰੁ ਅਰੁ ਸੂਰੁ ਨਾਮੁ ਉਲਾਸਹਿ ਸੈਲ ਲੋਅ ਜਿਨਿ ਉਧਰਿਆ ॥

ससीअरु अरु सूरु नामु उलासहि सैल लोअ जिनि उधरिआ ॥

Saseeâru âru sooru naamu ūlaasahi sail loâ jini ūđhariâa ||

The moon and the sun long for the Naam; it has saved even mountain ranges.

ਸੋਈ ਨਾਮੁ ਅਛਲੁ ਭਗਤਹ ਭਵ ਤਾਰਣੁ ਅਮਰਦਾਸ ਗੁਰ ਕਉ ਫੁਰਿਆ ॥੨॥

सोई नामु अछलु भगतह भव तारणु अमरदास गुर कउ फुरिआ ॥२॥

Soëe naamu âchhalu bhagaŧah bhav ŧaarañu âmarađaas gur kaū phuriâa ||2||

That Undeceivable Naam, which carries the devotees across the world-ocean, came into Guru Amar Daas. ||2||


ਸੋਈ ਨਾਮੁ ਸਿਵਰਿ ਨਵ ਨਾਥ ਨਿਰੰਜਨੁ ਸਿਵ ਸਨਕਾਦਿ ਸਮੁਧਰਿਆ ॥

सोई नामु सिवरि नव नाथ निरंजनु सिव सनकादि समुधरिआ ॥

Soëe naamu sivari nav naaŧh niranjjanu siv sanakaađi samuđhariâa ||

Dwelling upon that Immaculate Naam, the nine Yogic masters, Shiva and Sanak and many others have been emancipated.

ਚਵਰਾਸੀਹ ਸਿਧ ਬੁਧ ਜਿਤੁ ਰਾਤੇ ਅੰਬਰੀਕ ਭਵਜਲੁ ਤਰਿਆ ॥

चवरासीह सिध बुध जितु राते अ्मबरीक भवजलु तरिआ ॥

Chavaraaseeh siđh buđh jiŧu raaŧe âmbbareek bhavajalu ŧariâa ||

The eighty-four Siddhas, the beings of supernatural spiritual powers, and the Buddhas are imbued with the Naam; it carried Ambreek across the terrifying world-ocean.

ਉਧਉ ਅਕ੍ਰੂਰੁ ਤਿਲੋਚਨੁ ਨਾਮਾ ਕਲਿ ਕਬੀਰ ਕਿਲਵਿਖ ਹਰਿਆ ॥

उधउ अक्रूरु तिलोचनु नामा कलि कबीर किलविख हरिआ ॥

Ūđhaū âkrooru ŧilochanu naamaa kali kabeer kilavikh hariâa ||

It has erased the sins of Oodho, Akroor, Trilochan, Naam Dayv and Kabeer, in this Dark Age of Kali Yuga.

ਸੋਈ ਨਾਮੁ ਅਛਲੁ ਭਗਤਹ ਭਵ ਤਾਰਣੁ ਅਮਰਦਾਸ ਗੁਰ ਕਉ ਫੁਰਿਆ ॥੩॥

सोई नामु अछलु भगतह भव तारणु अमरदास गुर कउ फुरिआ ॥३॥

Soëe naamu âchhalu bhagaŧah bhav ŧaarañu âmarađaas gur kaū phuriâa ||3||

That Undeceivable Naam, which carries the devotees across the world-ocean, came into Guru Amar Daas. ||3||


ਤਿਤੁ ਨਾਮਿ ਲਾਗਿ ਤੇਤੀਸ ਧਿਆਵਹਿ ਜਤੀ ਤਪੀਸੁਰ ਮਨਿ ਵਸਿਆ ॥

तितु नामि लागि तेतीस धिआवहि जती तपीसुर मनि वसिआ ॥

Ŧiŧu naami laagi ŧeŧees đhiâavahi jaŧee ŧapeesur mani vasiâa ||

The three hundred thirty million angels meditate, attached to the Naam; it is enshrined within the minds of the celibates and ascetics.

ਸੋਈ ਨਾਮੁ ਸਿਮਰਿ ਗੰਗੇਵ ਪਿਤਾਮਹ ਚਰਣ ਚਿਤ ਅੰਮ੍ਰਿਤ ਰਸਿਆ ॥

सोई नामु सिमरि गंगेव पितामह चरण चित अम्रित रसिआ ॥

Soëe naamu simari ganggev piŧaamah charañ chiŧ âmmmriŧ rasiâa ||

Bhisham Pitama, the son of the Ganges, meditated on that Naam; his consciousness delighted in the Ambrosial Nectar of the Lord's Feet.

ਤਿਤੁ ਨਾਮਿ ਗੁਰੂ ਗੰਭੀਰ ਗਰੂਅ ਮਤਿ ਸਤ ਕਰਿ ਸੰਗਤਿ ਉਧਰੀਆ ॥

तितु नामि गुरू ग्मभीर गरूअ मति सत करि संगति उधरीआ ॥

Ŧiŧu naami guroo gambbheer garooâ maŧi saŧ kari sanggaŧi ūđhareeâa ||

The great and profound Guru has brought forth the Naam; accepting the teachings as true, the Holy Congregation has been saved.

ਸੋਈ ਨਾਮੁ ਅਛਲੁ ਭਗਤਹ ਭਵ ਤਾਰਣੁ ਅਮਰਦਾਸ ਗੁਰ ਕਉ ਫੁਰਿਆ ॥੪॥

सोई नामु अछलु भगतह भव तारणु अमरदास गुर कउ फुरिआ ॥४॥

Soëe naamu âchhalu bhagaŧah bhav ŧaarañu âmarađaas gur kaū phuriâa ||4||

That Undeceivable Naam, which carries the devotees across the world-ocean, came into Guru Amar Daas. ||4||


ਨਾਮ ਕਿਤਿ ਸੰਸਾਰਿ ਕਿਰਣਿ ਰਵਿ ਸੁਰਤਰ ਸਾਖਹ ॥

नाम किति संसारि किरणि रवि सुरतर साखह ॥

Naam kiŧi sanssaari kirañi ravi suraŧar saakhah ||

The Glory of the Naam shines forth, like the rays of the sun, and the branches of the Elysian Tree.

ਉਤਰਿ ਦਖਿਣਿ ਪੁਬਿ ਦੇਸਿ ਪਸ੍ਚਮਿ ਜਸੁ ਭਾਖਹ ॥

उतरि दखिणि पुबि देसि पस्चमि जसु भाखह ॥

Ūŧari đakhiñi pubi đesi paschmi jasu bhaakhah ||

In the countries of the north, south, east and west, the Praises of the Naam are chanted.

ਜਨਮੁ ਤ ਇਹੁ ਸਕਯਥੁ ਜਿਤੁ ਨਾਮੁ ਹਰਿ ਰਿਦੈ ਨਿਵਾਸੈ ॥

जनमु त इहु सकयथु जितु नामु हरि रिदै निवासै ॥

Janamu ŧa īhu sakayaŧhu jiŧu naamu hari riđai nivaasai ||

Life is fruitful, when the Name of the Lord abides in the heart.

ਸੁਰਿ ਨਰ ਗਣ ਗੰਧਰਬ ਛਿਅ ਦਰਸਨ ਆਸਾਸੈ ॥

सुरि नर गण गंधरब छिअ दरसन आसासै ॥

Suri nar gañ ganđđharab chhiâ đarasan âasaasai ||

The angelic beings, heavenly heralds, celestial singers and the six Shaastras yearn for the Naam.

ਭਲਉ ਪ੍ਰਸਿਧੁ ਤੇਜੋ ਤਨੌ ਕਲੵ ਜੋੜਿ ਕਰ ਧੵਾਇਅਓ ॥

भलउ प्रसिधु तेजो तनौ कल्य जोड़ि कर ध्याइअओ ॥

Bhalaū prsiđhu ŧejo ŧanau kalʸ joɍi kar đhʸaaīâõ ||

The son of Tayj Bhaan of the Bhalla dynasty is noble and famous; with his palms pressed together, KALL meditates on Him.

ਸੋਈ ਨਾਮੁ ਭਗਤ ਭਵਜਲ ਹਰਣੁ ਗੁਰ ਅਮਰਦਾਸ ਤੈ ਪਾਇਓ ॥੫॥

सोई नामु भगत भवजल हरणु गुर अमरदास तै पाइओ ॥५॥

Soëe naamu bhagaŧ bhavajal harañu gur âmarađaas ŧai paaīõ ||5||

The Naam takes away the fears of the devotees about the word-ocean; Guru Amar Daas has obtained it. ||5||


ਨਾਮੁ ਧਿਆਵਹਿ ਦੇਵ ਤੇਤੀਸ ਅਰੁ ਸਾਧਿਕ ਸਿਧ ਨਰ ਨਾਮਿ ਖੰਡ ਬ੍ਰਹਮੰਡ ਧਾਰੇ ॥

नामु धिआवहि देव तेतीस अरु साधिक सिध नर नामि खंड ब्रहमंड धारे ॥

Naamu đhiâavahi đev ŧeŧees âru saađhik siđh nar naami khandd brhamandd đhaare ||

The thirty-one million gods meditate on the Naam, along with the Siddhas and seekers; the Naam supports solar systems and galaxies.

ਜਹ ਨਾਮੁ ਸਮਾਧਿਓ ਹਰਖੁ ਸੋਗੁ ਸਮ ਕਰਿ ਸਹਾਰੇ ॥

जह नामु समाधिओ हरखु सोगु सम करि सहारे ॥

Jah naamu samaađhiõ harakhu sogu sam kari sahaare ||

One who meditates on the Naam in Samaadhi, endures sorrow and joy as one and the same.

ਨਾਮੁ ਸਿਰੋਮਣਿ ਸਰਬ ਮੈ ਭਗਤ ਰਹੇ ਲਿਵ ਧਾਰਿ ॥

नामु सिरोमणि सरब मै भगत रहे लिव धारि ॥

Naamu siromañi sarab mai bhagaŧ rahe liv đhaari ||

The Naam is the most sublime of all; the devotees remain lovingly attuned to it.

ਸੋਈ ਨਾਮੁ ਪਦਾਰਥੁ ਅਮਰ ਗੁਰ ਤੁਸਿ ਦੀਓ ਕਰਤਾਰਿ ॥੬॥

सोई नामु पदारथु अमर गुर तुसि दीओ करतारि ॥६॥

Soëe naamu pađaaraŧhu âmar gur ŧusi đeeõ karaŧaari ||6||

Guru Amar Daas was blessed with the treasure of the Naam, by the Creator Lord, in His Pleasure. ||6||


ਸਤਿ ਸੂਰਉ ਸੀਲਿ ਬਲਵੰਤੁ ਸਤ ਭਾਇ ਸੰਗਤਿ ਸਘਨ ਗਰੂਅ ਮਤਿ ਨਿਰਵੈਰਿ ਲੀਣਾ ॥

सति सूरउ सीलि बलवंतु सत भाइ संगति सघन गरूअ मति निरवैरि लीणा ॥

Saŧi sooraū seeli balavanŧŧu saŧ bhaaī sanggaŧi saghan garooâ maŧi niravairi leeñaa ||

He is the Warrior Hero of Truth, humility is His Power. His Loving Nature inspires the Congregation with deep and profound understanding; He is absorbed in the Lord, free of hate and vengeance.

ਜਿਸੁ ਧੀਰਜੁ ਧੁਰਿ ਧਵਲੁ ਧੁਜਾ ਸੇਤਿ ਬੈਕੁੰਠ ਬੀਣਾ ॥

जिसु धीरजु धुरि धवलु धुजा सेति बैकुंठ बीणा ॥

Jisu đheeraju đhuri đhavalu đhujaa seŧi baikuntth beeñaa ||

Patience has been His white banner since the beginning of time, planted on the bridge to heaven.

ਪਰਸਹਿ ਸੰਤ ਪਿਆਰੁ ਜਿਹ ਕਰਤਾਰਹ ਸੰਜੋਗੁ ॥

परसहि संत पिआरु जिह करतारह संजोगु ॥

Parasahi sanŧŧ piâaru jih karaŧaarah sanjjogu ||

The Saints meet their Beloved Guru, who is united with the Creator Lord.

ਸਤਿਗੁਰੂ ਸੇਵਿ ਸੁਖੁ ਪਾਇਓ ਅਮਰਿ ਗੁਰਿ ਕੀਤਉ ਜੋਗੁ ॥੭॥

सतिगुरू सेवि सुखु पाइओ अमरि गुरि कीतउ जोगु ॥७॥

Saŧiguroo sevi sukhu paaīõ âmari guri keeŧaū jogu ||7||

Serving the True Guru, they find peace; Guru Amar Daas has given them this ability. ||7||


ਨਾਮੁ ਨਾਵਣੁ ਨਾਮੁ ਰਸ ਖਾਣੁ ਅਰੁ ਭੋਜਨੁ ਨਾਮ ਰਸੁ ਸਦਾ ਚਾਯ ਮੁਖਿ ਮਿਸ੍ਟ ਬਾਣੀ ॥

नामु नावणु नामु रस खाणु अरु भोजनु नाम रसु सदा चाय मुखि मिस्ट बाणी ॥

Naamu naavañu naamu ras khaañu âru bhojanu naam rasu sađaa chaay mukhi mist baañee ||

The Naam is His cleansing bath; the Naam is the food He eats; the Naam is the taste He enjoys. With deep yearning, He chants the Sweet Bani of the Guru's Word forever.

ਧਨਿ ਸਤਿਗੁਰੁ ਸੇਵਿਓ ਜਿਸੁ ਪਸਾਇ ਗਤਿ ਅਗਮ ਜਾਣੀ ॥

धनि सतिगुरु सेविओ जिसु पसाइ गति अगम जाणी ॥

Đhani saŧiguru seviõ jisu pasaaī gaŧi âgam jaañee ||

Blessed is service to the True Guru; by His Grace, the State of the Unfathomable Lord is known.

ਕੁਲ ਸੰਬੂਹ ਸਮੁਧਰੇ ਪਾਯਉ ਨਾਮ ਨਿਵਾਸੁ ॥

कुल स्मबूह समुधरे पायउ नाम निवासु ॥

Kul sambbooh samuđhare paayaū naam nivaasu ||

All Your generations are totally saved; You dwell in the Naam, the Name of the Lord.

ਸਕਯਥੁ ਜਨਮੁ ਕਲੵੁਚਰੈ ਗੁਰੁ ਪਰਸੵਿਉ ਅਮਰ ਪ੍ਰਗਾਸੁ ॥੮॥

सकयथु जनमु कल्युचरै गुरु परस्यिउ अमर प्रगासु ॥८॥

Sakayaŧhu janamu kalʸucharai guru parasʸiū âmar prgaasu ||8||

So speaks KALL: fruitful is the life of one who meets with Guru Amar Daas, radiant with the Light of God. ||8||


ਬਾਰਿਜੁ ਕਰਿ ਦਾਹਿਣੈ ਸਿਧਿ ਸਨਮੁਖ ਮੁਖੁ ਜੋਵੈ ॥

बारिजु करि दाहिणै सिधि सनमुख मुखु जोवै ॥

Baariju kari đaahiñai siđhi sanamukh mukhu jovai ||

On His right hand is the sign of the lotus; the Siddhis, the supernatural spiritual powers, await His Command.

ਰਿਧਿ ਬਸੈ ਬਾਂਵਾਂਗਿ ਜੁ ਤੀਨਿ ਲੋਕਾਂਤਰ ਮੋਹੈ ॥

रिधि बसै बांवांगि जु तीनि लोकांतर मोहै ॥

Riđhi basai baanvaangi ju ŧeeni lokaanŧar mohai ||

On His left are worldly powers, which fascinate the three worlds.

ਰਿਦੈ ਬਸੈ ਅਕਹੀਉ ਸੋਇ ਰਸੁ ਤਿਨ ਹੀ ਜਾਤਉ ॥

रिदै बसै अकहीउ सोइ रसु तिन ही जातउ ॥

Riđai basai âkaheeū soī rasu ŧin hee jaaŧaū ||

The Inexpressible Lord abides in His Heart; He alone knows this joy.

ਮੁਖਹੁ ਭਗਤਿ ਉਚਰੈ ਅਮਰੁ ਗੁਰੁ ਇਤੁ ਰੰਗਿ ਰਾਤਉ ॥

मुखहु भगति उचरै अमरु गुरु इतु रंगि रातउ ॥

Mukhahu bhagaŧi ūcharai âmaru guru īŧu ranggi raaŧaū ||

Guru Amar Daas utters the words of devotion, imbued with the Love of the Lord.

ਮਸਤਕਿ ਨੀਸਾਣੁ ਸਚਉ ਕਰਮੁ ਕਲੵ ਜੋੜਿ ਕਰ ਧੵਾਇਅਉ ॥

मसतकि नीसाणु सचउ करमु कल्य जोड़ि कर ध्याइअउ ॥

Masaŧaki neesaañu sachaū karamu kalʸ joɍi kar đhʸaaīâū ||

On His forehead is the true insignia of the Lord's Mercy; with his palms pressed together, KALL meditates on Him.

ਪਰਸਿਅਉ ਗੁਰੂ ਸਤਿਗੁਰ ਤਿਲਕੁ ਸਰਬ ਇਛ ਤਿਨਿ ਪਾਇਅਉ ॥੯॥

परसिअउ गुरू सतिगुर तिलकु सरब इछ तिनि पाइअउ ॥९॥

Parasiâū guroo saŧigur ŧilaku sarab īchh ŧini paaīâū ||9||

Whoever meets with the Guru, the certified True Guru, has all his desires fulfilled. ||9||


ਚਰਣ ਤ ਪਰ ਸਕਯਥ ਚਰਣ ਗੁਰ ਅਮਰ ਪਵਲਿ ਰਯ ॥

चरण त पर सकयथ चरण गुर अमर पवलि रय ॥

Charañ ŧa par sakayaŧh charañ gur âmar pavali ray ||

Supremely fruitful are the feet which walk upon the path of Guru Amar Daas.

ਹਥ ਤ ਪਰ ਸਕਯਥ ਹਥ ਲਗਹਿ ਗੁਰ ਅਮਰ ਪਯ ॥

हथ त पर सकयथ हथ लगहि गुर अमर पय ॥

Haŧh ŧa par sakayaŧh haŧh lagahi gur âmar pay ||

Supremely fruitful are the hands which touch the feet of Guru Amar Daas.

ਜੀਹ ਤ ਪਰ ਸਕਯਥ ਜੀਹ ਗੁਰ ਅਮਰੁ ਭਣਿਜੈ ॥

जीह त पर सकयथ जीह गुर अमरु भणिजै ॥

Jeeh ŧa par sakayaŧh jeeh gur âmaru bhañijai ||

Supremely fruitful is the tongue which utters the praises of Guru Amar Daas.

ਨੈਣ ਤ ਪਰ ਸਕਯਥ ਨਯਣਿ ਗੁਰੁ ਅਮਰੁ ਪਿਖਿਜੈ ॥

नैण त पर सकयथ नयणि गुरु अमरु पिखिजै ॥

Naiñ ŧa par sakayaŧh nayañi guru âmaru pikhijai ||

Supremely fruitful are the eyes which behold Guru Amar Daas.

ਸ੍ਰਵਣ ਤ ਪਰ ਸਕਯਥ ਸ੍ਰਵਣਿ ਗੁਰੁ ਅਮਰੁ ਸੁਣਿਜੈ ॥

स्रवण त पर सकयथ स्रवणि गुरु अमरु सुणिजै ॥

Srvañ ŧa par sakayaŧh srvañi guru âmaru suñijai ||

Supremely fruitful are the ears which hear the Praises of Guru Amar Daas.

ਸਕਯਥੁ ਸੁ ਹੀਉ ਜਿਤੁ ਹੀਅ ਬਸੈ ਗੁਰ ਅਮਰਦਾਸੁ ਨਿਜ ਜਗਤ ਪਿਤ ॥

सकयथु सु हीउ जितु हीअ बसै गुर अमरदासु निज जगत पित ॥

Sakayaŧhu su heeū jiŧu heeâ basai gur âmarađaasu nij jagaŧ piŧ ||

Fruitful is the heart in which Guru Amar Daas, the Father of the world, Himself abides.

ਸਕਯਥੁ ਸੁ ਸਿਰੁ ਜਾਲਪੁ ਭਣੈ ਜੁ ਸਿਰੁ ਨਿਵੈ ਗੁਰ ਅਮਰ ਨਿਤ ॥੧॥੧੦॥

सकयथु सु सिरु जालपु भणै जु सिरु निवै गुर अमर नित ॥१॥१०॥

Sakayaŧhu su siru jaalapu bhañai ju siru nivai gur âmar niŧ ||1||10||

Fruitful is the head, says Jaalap, which bows forever before Guru Amar Daas. ||1||10||


ਤਿ ਨਰ ਦੁਖ ਨਹ ਭੁਖ ਤਿ ਨਰ ਨਿਧਨ ਨਹੁ ਕਹੀਅਹਿ ॥

ति नर दुख नह भुख ति नर निधन नहु कहीअहि ॥

Ŧi nar đukh nah bhukh ŧi nar niđhan nahu kaheeâhi ||

They do not suffer pain or hunger, and they cannot be called poor.

ਤਿ ਨਰ ਸੋਕੁ ਨਹੁ ਹੂਐ ਤਿ ਨਰ ਸੇ ਅੰਤੁ ਨ ਲਹੀਅਹਿ ॥

ति नर सोकु नहु हूऐ ति नर से अंतु न लहीअहि ॥

Ŧi nar soku nahu hooâi ŧi nar se ânŧŧu na laheeâhi ||

They do not grieve, and their limits cannot be found.

ਤਿ ਨਰ ਸੇਵ ਨਹੁ ਕਰਹਿ ਤਿ ਨਰ ਸਯ ਸਹਸ ਸਮਪਹਿ ॥

ति नर सेव नहु करहि ति नर सय सहस समपहि ॥

Ŧi nar sev nahu karahi ŧi nar say sahas samapahi ||

They do not serve anyone else, but they give gifts to hundreds and thousands.

ਤਿ ਨਰ ਦੁਲੀਚੈ ਬਹਹਿ ਤਿ ਨਰ ਉਥਪਿ ਬਿਥਪਹਿ ॥

ति नर दुलीचै बहहि ति नर उथपि बिथपहि ॥

Ŧi nar đuleechai bahahi ŧi nar ūŧhapi biŧhapahi ||

They sit on beautiful carpets; they establish and disestablish at will.

ਸੁਖ ਲਹਹਿ ਤਿ ਨਰ ਸੰਸਾਰ ਮਹਿ ਅਭੈ ਪਟੁ ਰਿਪ ਮਧਿ ਤਿਹ ॥

सुख लहहि ति नर संसार महि अभै पटु रिप मधि तिह ॥

Sukh lahahi ŧi nar sanssaar mahi âbhai patu rip mađhi ŧih ||

They find peace in this world, and live fearlessly amidst their enemies.

ਸਕਯਥ ਤਿ ਨਰ ਜਾਲਪੁ ਭਣੈ ਗੁਰ ਅਮਰਦਾਸੁ ਸੁਪ੍ਰਸੰਨੁ ਜਿਹ ॥੨॥੧੧॥

सकयथ ति नर जालपु भणै गुर अमरदासु सुप्रसंनु जिह ॥२॥११॥

Sakayaŧh ŧi nar jaalapu bhañai gur âmarađaasu suprsannu jih ||2||11||

They are fruitful and prosperous, says Jaalap. Guru Amar Daas is pleased with them. ||2||11||


ਤੈ ਪਢਿਅਉ ਇਕੁ ਮਨਿ ਧਰਿਅਉ ਇਕੁ ਕਰਿ ਇਕੁ ਪਛਾਣਿਓ ॥

तै पढिअउ इकु मनि धरिअउ इकु करि इकु पछाणिओ ॥

Ŧai padhiâū īku mani đhariâū īku kari īku pachhaañiõ ||

You read about the One Lord, and enshrine Him in Your mind; You realize the One and Only Lord.

ਨਯਣਿ ਬਯਣਿ ਮੁਹਿ ਇਕੁ ਇਕੁ ਦੁਹੁ ਠਾਂਇ ਨ ਜਾਣਿਓ ॥

नयणि बयणि मुहि इकु इकु दुहु ठांइ न जाणिओ ॥

Nayañi bayañi muhi īku īku đuhu thaanī na jaañiõ ||

With Your eyes and the words You speak, You dwell upon the One Lord; You do not know any other place of rest.

ਸੁਪਨਿ ਇਕੁ ਪਰਤਖਿ ਇਕੁ ਇਕਸ ਮਹਿ ਲੀਣਉ ॥

सुपनि इकु परतखि इकु इकस महि लीणउ ॥

Supani īku paraŧakhi īku īkas mahi leeñaū ||

You know the One Lord while dreaming, and the One Lord while awake. You are absorbed in the One.

ਤੀਸ ਇਕੁ ਅਰੁ ਪੰਜਿ ਸਿਧੁ ਪੈਤੀਸ ਨ ਖੀਣਉ ॥

तीस इकु अरु पंजि सिधु पैतीस न खीणउ ॥

Ŧees īku âru panjji siđhu paiŧees na kheeñaū ||

At the age of seventy-one, You began to march towards the Indestructible Lord.

ਇਕਹੁ ਜਿ ਲਾਖੁ ਲਖਹੁ ਅਲਖੁ ਹੈ ਇਕੁ ਇਕੁ ਕਰਿ ਵਰਨਿਅਉ ॥

इकहु जि लाखु लखहु अलखु है इकु इकु करि वरनिअउ ॥

Īkahu ji laakhu lakhahu âlakhu hai īku īku kari varaniâū ||

The One Lord, who takes hundreds of thousands of forms, cannot be seen. He can only be described as One.

ਗੁਰ ਅਮਰਦਾਸ ਜਾਲਪੁ ਭਣੈ ਤੂ ਇਕੁ ਲੋੜਹਿ ਇਕੁ ਮੰਨਿਅਉ ॥੩॥੧੨॥

गुर अमरदास जालपु भणै तू इकु लोड़हि इकु मंनिअउ ॥३॥१२॥

Gur âmarađaas jaalapu bhañai ŧoo īku loɍahi īku manniâū ||3||12||

So speaks Jaalap: O Guru Amar Daas, You long for the One Lord, and believe in the One Lord alone. ||3||12||


ਜਿ ਮਤਿ ਗਹੀ ਜੈਦੇਵਿ ਜਿ ਮਤਿ ਨਾਮੈ ਸੰਮਾਣੀ ॥

जि मति गही जैदेवि जि मति नामै समाणी ॥

Ji maŧi gahee jaiđevi ji maŧi naamai sammaañee ||

The understanding which Jai Dayv grasped, the understanding which permeated Naam Dayv,

ਜਿ ਮਤਿ ਤ੍ਰਿਲੋਚਨ ਚਿਤਿ ਭਗਤ ਕੰਬੀਰਹਿ ਜਾਣੀ ॥

जि मति त्रिलोचन चिति भगत क्मबीरहि जाणी ॥

Ji maŧi ŧrilochan chiŧi bhagaŧ kambbeerahi jaañee ||

The understanding which was in the consciousness of Trilochan and known by the devotee Kabeer,

ਰੁਕਮਾਂਗਦ ਕਰਤੂਤਿ ਰਾਮੁ ਜੰਪਹੁ ਨਿਤ ਭਾਈ ॥

रुकमांगद करतूति रामु ज्मपहु नित भाई ॥

Rukamaangađ karaŧooŧi raamu jamppahu niŧ bhaaëe ||

By which Rukmaangad constantly meditated on the Lord, O Siblings of Destiny,

ਅੰਮਰੀਕਿ ਪ੍ਰਹਲਾਦਿ ਸਰਣਿ ਗੋਬਿੰਦ ਗਤਿ ਪਾਈ ॥

अमरीकि प्रहलादि सरणि गोबिंद गति पाई ॥

Âmmmareeki prhalaađi sarañi gobinđđ gaŧi paaëe ||

Which brought Ambreek and Prahlaad to seek the Sanctuary of the Lord of the Universe, and which brought them to salvation

ਤੈ ਲੋਭੁ ਕ੍ਰੋਧੁ ਤ੍ਰਿਸਨਾ ਤਜੀ ਸੁ ਮਤਿ ਜਲੵ ਜਾਣੀ ਜੁਗਤਿ ॥

तै लोभु क्रोधु त्रिसना तजी सु मति जल्य जाणी जुगति ॥

Ŧai lobhu krođhu ŧrisanaa ŧajee su maŧi jalʸ jaañee jugaŧi ||

Says JALL that sublime understanding has brought You to renounce greed, anger and desire, and to know the way.

ਗੁਰੁ ਅਮਰਦਾਸੁ ਨਿਜ ਭਗਤੁ ਹੈ ਦੇਖਿ ਦਰਸੁ ਪਾਵਉ ਮੁਕਤਿ ॥੪॥੧੩॥

गुरु अमरदासु निज भगतु है देखि दरसु पावउ मुकति ॥४॥१३॥

Guru âmarađaasu nij bhagaŧu hai đekhi đarasu paavaū mukaŧi ||4||13||

Guru Amar Daas is the Lord's own devotee; gazing upon the Blessed Vision of His Darshan, one is liberated. ||4||13||


ਗੁਰੁ ਅਮਰਦਾਸੁ ਪਰਸੀਐ ਪੁਹਮਿ ਪਾਤਿਕ ਬਿਨਾਸਹਿ ॥

गुरु अमरदासु परसीऐ पुहमि पातिक बिनासहि ॥

Guru âmarađaasu paraseeâi puhami paaŧik binaasahi ||

Meeting with Guru Amar Daas, the earth is purged of its sin.

ਗੁਰੁ ਅਮਰਦਾਸੁ ਪਰਸੀਐ ਸਿਧ ਸਾਧਿਕ ਆਸਾਸਹਿ ॥

गुरु अमरदासु परसीऐ सिध साधिक आसासहि ॥

Guru âmarađaasu paraseeâi siđh saađhik âasaasahi ||

The Siddhas and seekers long to meet with Guru Amar Daas.

ਗੁਰੁ ਅਮਰਦਾਸੁ ਪਰਸੀਐ ਧਿਆਨੁ ਲਹੀਐ ਪਉ ਮੁਕਿਹਿ ॥

गुरु अमरदासु परसीऐ धिआनु लहीऐ पउ मुकिहि ॥

Guru âmarađaasu paraseeâi đhiâanu laheeâi paū mukihi ||

Meeting with Guru Amar Daas, the mortal meditates on the Lord, and his journey comes to its end.

ਗੁਰੁ ਅਮਰਦਾਸੁ ਪਰਸੀਐ ਅਭਉ ਲਭੈ ਗਉ ਚੁਕਿਹਿ ॥

गुरु अमरदासु परसीऐ अभउ लभै गउ चुकिहि ॥

Guru âmarađaasu paraseeâi âbhaū labhai gaū chukihi ||

Meeting with Guru Amar Daas, the Fearless Lord is obtained, and the cycle of reincarnation is brought to an end.

ਇਕੁ ਬਿੰਨਿ ਦੁਗਣ ਜੁ ਤਉ ਰਹੈ ਜਾ ਸੁਮੰਤ੍ਰਿ ਮਾਨਵਹਿ ਲਹਿ ॥

इकु बिंनि दुगण जु तउ रहै जा सुमंत्रि मानवहि लहि ॥

Īku binni đugañ ju ŧaū rahai jaa sumanŧŧri maanavahi lahi ||

Realizing the One Lord, love of duality ceases, and one comes to accept the Sublime Mantra of the Guru.

ਜਾਲਪਾ ਪਦਾਰਥ ਇਤੜੇ ਗੁਰ ਅਮਰਦਾਸਿ ਡਿਠੈ ਮਿਲਹਿ ॥੫॥੧੪॥

जालपा पदारथ इतड़े गुर अमरदासि डिठै मिलहि ॥५॥१४॥

Jaalapaa pađaaraŧh īŧaɍe gur âmarađaasi dithai milahi ||5||14||

So speaks Jaalap: countless treasures are obtained, by the sight of Guru Amar Daas. ||5||14||


ਸਚੁ ਨਾਮੁ ਕਰਤਾਰੁ ਸੁ ਦ੍ਰਿੜੁ ਨਾਨਕਿ ਸੰਗ੍ਰਹਿਅਉ ॥

सचु नामु करतारु सु द्रिड़ु नानकि संग्रहिअउ ॥

Sachu naamu karaŧaaru su đriɍu naanaki sanggrhiâū ||

Guru Nanak gathered up the True Name of the Creator Lord, and implanted it within.

ਤਾ ਤੇ ਅੰਗਦੁ ਲਹਣਾ ਪ੍ਰਗਟਿ ਤਾਸੁ ਚਰਣਹ ਲਿਵ ਰਹਿਅਉ ॥

ता ते अंगदु लहणा प्रगटि तासु चरणह लिव रहिअउ ॥

Ŧaa ŧe ânggađu lahañaa prgati ŧaasu charañah liv rahiâū ||

Through Him, Lehnaa became manifest in the form of Guru Angad, who remained lovingly attuned to His Feet.

ਤਿਤੁ ਕੁਲਿ ਗੁਰ ਅਮਰਦਾਸੁ ਆਸਾ ਨਿਵਾਸੁ ਤਾਸੁ ਗੁਣ ਕਵਣ ਵਖਾਣਉ ॥

तितु कुलि गुर अमरदासु आसा निवासु तासु गुण कवण वखाणउ ॥

Ŧiŧu kuli gur âmarađaasu âasaa nivaasu ŧaasu guñ kavañ vakhaañaū ||

Guru Amar Daas of that dynasty is the home of hope. How can I express His Glorious Virtues?

ਜੋ ਗੁਣ ਅਲਖ ਅਗੰਮ ਤਿਨਹ ਗੁਣ ਅੰਤੁ ਨ ਜਾਣਉ ॥

जो गुण अलख अगम तिनह गुण अंतु न जाणउ ॥

Jo guñ âlakh âgamm ŧinah guñ ânŧŧu na jaañaū ||

His Virtues are unknowable and unfathomable. I do not know the limits of His Virtues.

ਬੋਹਿਥਉ ਬਿਧਾਤੈ ਨਿਰਮਯੌ ਸਭ ਸੰਗਤਿ ਕੁਲ ਉਧਰਣ ॥

बोहिथउ बिधातै निरमयौ सभ संगति कुल उधरण ॥

Bohiŧhaū biđhaaŧai niramayau sabh sanggaŧi kul ūđharañ ||

The Creator, the Architect of Destiny, has made Him a boat to carry all His generations across, along with the Sangat, the Holy Congregation.

ਗੁਰ ਅਮਰਦਾਸ ਕੀਰਤੁ ਕਹੈ ਤ੍ਰਾਹਿ ਤ੍ਰਾਹਿ ਤੁਅ ਪਾ ਸਰਣ ॥੧॥੧੫॥

गुर अमरदास कीरतु कहै त्राहि त्राहि तुअ पा सरण ॥१॥१५॥

Gur âmarađaas keeraŧu kahai ŧraahi ŧraahi ŧuâ paa sarañ ||1||15||

So speaks Keerat: O Guru Amar Daas, please protect me and save me; I seek the Sanctuary of Your Feet. ||1||15||


ਆਪਿ ਨਰਾਇਣੁ ਕਲਾ ਧਾਰਿ ਜਗ ਮਹਿ ਪਰਵਰਿਯਉ ॥

आपि नराइणु कला धारि जग महि परवरियउ ॥

Âapi naraaīñu kalaa đhaari jag mahi paravariyaū ||

The Lord Himself wielded His Power and entered the world.

ਨਿਰੰਕਾਰਿ ਆਕਾਰੁ ਜੋਤਿ ਜਗ ਮੰਡਲਿ ਕਰਿਯਉ ॥

निरंकारि आकारु जोति जग मंडलि करियउ ॥

Nirankkaari âakaaru joŧi jag manddali kariyaū ||

The Formless Lord took form, and with His Light He illuminated the realms of the world.

ਜਹ ਕਹ ਤਹ ਭਰਪੂਰੁ ਸਬਦੁ ਦੀਪਕਿ ਦੀਪਾਯਉ ॥

जह कह तह भरपूरु सबदु दीपकि दीपायउ ॥

Jah kah ŧah bharapooru sabađu đeepaki đeepaayaū ||

He is All-pervading everywhere; the Lamp of the Shabad, the Word, has been lit.

ਜਿਹ ਸਿਖਹ ਸੰਗ੍ਰਹਿਓ ਤਤੁ ਹਰਿ ਚਰਣ ਮਿਲਾਯਉ ॥

जिह सिखह संग्रहिओ ततु हरि चरण मिलायउ ॥

Jih sikhah sanggrhiõ ŧaŧu hari charañ milaayaū ||

Whoever gathers in the essence of the teachings shall be absorbed in the Feet of the Lord.

ਨਾਨਕ ਕੁਲਿ ਨਿੰਮਲੁ ਅਵਤਰੵਿਉ ਅੰਗਦ ਲਹਣੇ ਸੰਗਿ ਹੁਅ ॥

नानक कुलि निमलु अवतरि्यउ अंगद लहणे संगि हुअ ॥

Naanak kuli nimmmalu âvaŧarʸiū ânggađ lahañe sanggi huâ ||

Lehnaa, who became Guru Angad, and Guru Amar Daas, have been reincarnated into the pure house of Guru Nanak.

ਗੁਰ ਅਮਰਦਾਸ ਤਾਰਣ ਤਰਣ ਜਨਮ ਜਨਮ ਪਾ ਸਰਣਿ ਤੁਅ ॥੨॥੧੬॥

गुर अमरदास तारण तरण जनम जनम पा सरणि तुअ ॥२॥१६॥

Gur âmarađaas ŧaarañ ŧarañ janam janam paa sarañi ŧuâ ||2||16||

Guru Amar Daas is our Saving Grace, who carries us across; in lifetime after lifetime, I seek the Sanctuary of Your Feet. ||2||16||


ਜਪੁ ਤਪੁ ਸਤੁ ਸੰਤੋਖੁ ਪਿਖਿ ਦਰਸਨੁ ਗੁਰ ਸਿਖਹ ॥

जपु तपु सतु संतोखु पिखि दरसनु गुर सिखह ॥

Japu ŧapu saŧu sanŧŧokhu pikhi đarasanu gur sikhah ||

Gazing upon the Blessed Vision of His Darshan, the Gursikh is blessed with chanting and deep meditation, truth and contentment.

ਸਰਣਿ ਪਰਹਿ ਤੇ ਉਬਰਹਿ ਛੋਡਿ ਜਮ ਪੁਰ ਕੀ ਲਿਖਹ ॥

सरणि परहि ते उबरहि छोडि जम पुर की लिखह ॥

Sarañi parahi ŧe ūbarahi chhodi jam pur kee likhah ||

Whoever seeks His Sanctuary is saved; his account is cleared in the City of Death.

ਭਗਤਿ ਭਾਇ ਭਰਪੂਰੁ ਰਿਦੈ ਉਚਰੈ ਕਰਤਾਰੈ ॥

भगति भाइ भरपूरु रिदै उचरै करतारै ॥

Bhagaŧi bhaaī bharapooru riđai ūcharai karaŧaarai ||

His heart is totally filled with loving devotion; he chants to the Creator Lord.

ਗੁਰੁ ਗਉਹਰੁ ਦਰੀਆਉ ਪਲਕ ਡੁਬੰਤੵਹ ਤਾਰੈ ॥

गुरु गउहरु दरीआउ पलक डुबंत्यह तारै ॥

Guru gaūharu đareeâaū palak dubanŧŧʸh ŧaarai ||

The Guru is the river of pearls; in an instant, he carries the drowning ones across.

ਨਾਨਕ ਕੁਲਿ ਨਿੰਮਲੁ ਅਵਤਰੵਿਉ ਗੁਣ ਕਰਤਾਰੈ ਉਚਰੈ ॥

नानक कुलि निमलु अवतरि्यउ गुण करतारै उचरै ॥

Naanak kuli nimmmalu âvaŧarʸiū guñ karaŧaarai ūcharai ||

He was reincarnated into the House of Guru Nanak; He chants the Glorious Praises of the Creator Lord.

ਗੁਰੁ ਅਮਰਦਾਸੁ ਜਿਨੑ ਸੇਵਿਅਉ ਤਿਨੑ ਦੁਖੁ ਦਰਿਦ੍ਰੁ ਪਰਹਰਿ ਪਰੈ ॥੩॥੧੭॥

गुरु अमरदासु जिन्ह सेविअउ तिन्ह दुखु दरिद्रु परहरि परै ॥३॥१७॥

Guru âmarađaasu jinʱ seviâū ŧinʱ đukhu đariđru parahari parai ||3||17||

Those who serve Guru Amar Daas - their pains and poverty are taken away, far away. ||3||17||


ਚਿਤਿ ਚਿਤਵਉ ਅਰਦਾਸਿ ਕਹਉ ਪਰੁ ਕਹਿ ਭਿ ਨ ਸਕਉ ॥

चिति चितवउ अरदासि कहउ परु कहि भि न सकउ ॥

Chiŧi chiŧavaū ârađaasi kahaū paru kahi bhi na sakaū ||

I consciously pray within my consciousness, but I cannot express it in words.

ਸਰਬ ਚਿੰਤ ਤੁਝੁ ਪਾਸਿ ਸਾਧਸੰਗਤਿ ਹਉ ਤਕਉ ॥

सरब चिंत तुझु पासि साधसंगति हउ तकउ ॥

Sarab chinŧŧ ŧujhu paasi saađhasanggaŧi haū ŧakaū ||

I place all my worries and anxieties before You; I look to the Saadh Sangat, the Company of the Holy, for help.

ਤੇਰੈ ਹੁਕਮਿ ਪਵੈ ਨੀਸਾਣੁ ਤਉ ਕਰਉ ਸਾਹਿਬ ਕੀ ਸੇਵਾ ॥

तेरै हुकमि पवै नीसाणु तउ करउ साहिब की सेवा ॥

Ŧerai hukami pavai neesaañu ŧaū karaū saahib kee sevaa ||

By the Hukam of Your Command, I am blessed with Your Insignia; I serve my Lord and Master.

ਜਬ ਗੁਰੁ ਦੇਖੈ ਸੁਭ ਦਿਸਟਿ ਨਾਮੁ ਕਰਤਾ ਮੁਖਿ ਮੇਵਾ ॥

जब गुरु देखै सुभ दिसटि नामु करता मुखि मेवा ॥

Jab guru đekhai subh đisati naamu karaŧaa mukhi mevaa ||

When You, O Guru, gaze at me with Your Glance of Grace, the fruit of the Naam, the Name of the Creator, is placed within my mouth.

ਅਗਮ ਅਲਖ ਕਾਰਣ ਪੁਰਖ ਜੋ ਫੁਰਮਾਵਹਿ ਸੋ ਕਹਉ ॥

अगम अलख कारण पुरख जो फुरमावहि सो कहउ ॥

Âgam âlakh kaarañ purakh jo phuramaavahi so kahaū ||

The Unfathomable and Unseen Primal Lord God, the Cause of causes - as He orders, so do I speak.

ਗੁਰ ਅਮਰਦਾਸ ਕਾਰਣ ਕਰਣ ਜਿਵ ਤੂ ਰਖਹਿ ਤਿਵ ਰਹਉ ॥੪॥੧੮॥

गुर अमरदास कारण करण जिव तू रखहि तिव रहउ ॥४॥१८॥

Gur âmarađaas kaarañ karañ jiv ŧoo rakhahi ŧiv rahaū ||4||18||

O Guru Amar Daas, Doer of deeds, Cause of causes, as You keep me, I remain; as You protect me, I survive. ||4||18||

Of Bhikhaa:

ਗੁਰੁ ਗਿਆਨੁ ਅਰੁ ਧਿਆਨੁ ਤਤ ਸਿਉ ਤਤੁ ਮਿਲਾਵੈ ॥

गुरु गिआनु अरु धिआनु तत सिउ ततु मिलावै ॥

Guru giâanu âru đhiâanu ŧaŧ siū ŧaŧu milaavai ||

In deep meditation, and the spiritual wisdom of the Guru, one's essence merges with the essence of reality.

ਸਚਿ ਸਚੁ ਜਾਣੀਐ ਇਕ ਚਿਤਹਿ ਲਿਵ ਲਾਵੈ ॥

सचि सचु जाणीऐ इक चितहि लिव लावै ॥

Sachi sachu jaañeeâi īk chiŧahi liv laavai ||

In truth, the True Lord is recognized and realized, when one is lovingly attuned to Him, with one-pointed consciousness.

ਕਾਮ ਕ੍ਰੋਧ ਵਸਿ ਕਰੈ ਪਵਣੁ ਉਡੰਤ ਨ ਧਾਵੈ ॥

काम क्रोध वसि करै पवणु उडंत न धावै ॥

Kaam krođh vasi karai pavañu ūdanŧŧ na đhaavai ||

Lust and anger are brought under control, when the breath does not fly around, wandering restlessly.

ਨਿਰੰਕਾਰ ਕੈ ਵਸੈ ਦੇਸਿ ਹੁਕਮੁ ਬੁਝਿ ਬੀਚਾਰੁ ਪਾਵੈ ॥

निरंकार कै वसै देसि हुकमु बुझि बीचारु पावै ॥

Nirankkaar kai vasai đesi hukamu bujhi beechaaru paavai ||

Dwelling in the land of the Formless Lord, realizing the Hukam of His Command, His contemplative wisdom is attained.

ਕਲਿ ਮਾਹਿ ਰੂਪੁ ਕਰਤਾ ਪੁਰਖੁ ਸੋ ਜਾਣੈ ਜਿਨਿ ਕਿਛੁ ਕੀਅਉ ॥

कलि माहि रूपु करता पुरखु सो जाणै जिनि किछु कीअउ ॥

Kali maahi roopu karaŧaa purakhu so jaañai jini kichhu keeâū ||

In this Dark Age of Kali Yuga, the Guru is the Form of the Creator, the Primal Lord God; he alone knows, who has tried it.

ਗੁਰੁ ਮਿਲੵਿਉ ਸੋਇ ਭਿਖਾ ਕਹੈ ਸਹਜ ਰੰਗਿ ਦਰਸਨੁ ਦੀਅਉ ॥੧॥੧੯॥

गुरु मिल्यिउ सोइ भिखा कहै सहज रंगि दरसनु दीअउ ॥१॥१९॥

Guru milʸiū soī bhikhaa kahai sahaj ranggi đarasanu đeeâū ||1||19||

So speaks Bhikhaa: I have met the Guru. With love and intuitive affection, He has bestowed the Blessed Vision of His Darshan. ||1||19||


ਰਹਿਓ ਸੰਤ ਹਉ ਟੋਲਿ ਸਾਧ ਬਹੁਤੇਰੇ ਡਿਠੇ ॥

रहिओ संत हउ टोलि साध बहुतेरे डिठे ॥

Rahiõ sanŧŧ haū toli saađh bahuŧere dithe ||

I have been searching for the Saints; I have seen so many Holy and spiritual people.

ਸੰਨਿਆਸੀ ਤਪਸੀਅਹ ਮੁਖਹੁ ਏ ਪੰਡਿਤ ਮਿਠੇ ॥

संनिआसी तपसीअह मुखहु ए पंडित मिठे ॥

Sanniâasee ŧapaseeâh mukhahu ē panddiŧ mithe ||

The hermits, Sannyaasees, ascetics, penitents, fanatics and Pandits all speak sweetly.

ਬਰਸੁ ਏਕੁ ਹਉ ਫਿਰਿਓ ਕਿਨੈ ਨਹੁ ਪਰਚਉ ਲਾਯਉ ॥

बरसु एकु हउ फिरिओ किनै नहु परचउ लायउ ॥

Barasu ēku haū phiriõ kinai nahu parachaū laayaū ||

I wandered around lost for a year, but no one touched my soul.

ਕਹਤਿਅਹ ਕਹਤੀ ਸੁਣੀ ਰਹਤ ਕੋ ਖੁਸੀ ਨ ਆਯਉ ॥

कहतिअह कहती सुणी रहत को खुसी न आयउ ॥

Kahaŧiâh kahaŧee suñee rahaŧ ko khusee na âayaū ||

I listened to preachers and teachers, but I could not be happy with their lifestyles.

ਹਰਿ ਨਾਮੁ ਛੋਡਿ ਦੂਜੈ ਲਗੇ ਤਿਨੑ ਕੇ ਗੁਣ ਹਉ ਕਿਆ ਕਹਉ ॥

हरि नामु छोडि दूजै लगे तिन्ह के गुण हउ किआ कहउ ॥

Hari naamu chhodi đoojai lage ŧinʱ ke guñ haū kiâa kahaū ||

Those who have abandoned the Lord's Name, and become attached to duality - why should I speak in praise of them?

ਗੁਰੁ ਦਯਿ ਮਿਲਾਯਉ ਭਿਖਿਆ ਜਿਵ ਤੂ ਰਖਹਿ ਤਿਵ ਰਹਉ ॥੨॥੨੦॥

गुरु दयि मिलायउ भिखिआ जिव तू रखहि तिव रहउ ॥२॥२०॥

Guru đayi milaayaū bhikhiâa jiv ŧoo rakhahi ŧiv rahaū ||2||20||

So speaks Bhikhaa: the Lord has led me to meet the Guru. As You keep me, I remain; as You protect me, I survive. ||2||20||


ਪਹਿਰਿ ਸਮਾਧਿ ਸਨਾਹੁ ਗਿਆਨਿ ਹੈ ਆਸਣਿ ਚੜਿਅਉ ॥

पहिरि समाधि सनाहु गिआनि है आसणि चड़िअउ ॥

Pahiri samaađhi sanaahu giâani hai âasañi chaɍiâū ||

Wearing the armor of Samaadhi, the Guru has mounted the saddled horse of spiritual wisdom.

ਧ੍ਰੰਮ ਧਨਖੁ ਕਰ ਗਹਿਓ ਭਗਤ ਸੀਲਹ ਸਰਿ ਲੜਿਅਉ ॥

ध्रम धनखु कर गहिओ भगत सीलह सरि लड़िअउ ॥

Đhramm đhanakhu kar gahiõ bhagaŧ seelah sari laɍiâū ||

Holding the bow of Dharma in His Hands, He has shot the arrows of devotion and humility.

ਭੈ ਨਿਰਭਉ ਹਰਿ ਅਟਲੁ ਮਨਿ ਸਬਦਿ ਗੁਰ ਨੇਜਾ ਗਡਿਓ ॥

भै निरभउ हरि अटलु मनि सबदि गुर नेजा गडिओ ॥

Bhai nirabhaū hari âtalu mani sabađi gur nejaa gadiõ ||

He is fearless in the Fear of the Eternal Lord God; He has thrust the spear of the Word of the Guru's Shabad into the mind.

ਕਾਮ ਕ੍ਰੋਧ ਲੋਭ ਮੋਹ ਅਪਤੁ ਪੰਚ ਦੂਤ ਬਿਖੰਡਿਓ ॥

काम क्रोध लोभ मोह अपतु पंच दूत बिखंडिओ ॥

Kaam krođh lobh moh âpaŧu pancch đooŧ bikhanddiõ ||

He has cut down the five demons of unfulfilled sexual desire, unresolved anger, unsatisfied greed, emotional attachment and self-conceit.

ਭਲਉ ਭੂਹਾਲੁ ਤੇਜੋ ਤਨਾ ਨ੍ਰਿਪਤਿ ਨਾਥੁ ਨਾਨਕ ਬਰਿ ॥

भलउ भूहालु तेजो तना न्रिपति नाथु नानक बरि ॥

Bhalaū bhoohaalu ŧejo ŧanaa nripaŧi naaŧhu naanak bari ||

Guru Amar Daas, the son of Tayj Bhaan, of the noble Bhalla dynasty, blessed by Guru Nanak, is the Master of kings.

ਗੁਰ ਅਮਰਦਾਸ ਸਚੁ ਸਲੵ ਭਣਿ ਤੈ ਦਲੁ ਜਿਤਉ ਇਵ ਜੁਧੁ ਕਰਿ ॥੧॥੨੧॥

गुर अमरदास सचु सल्य भणि तै दलु जितउ इव जुधु करि ॥१॥२१॥

Gur âmarađaas sachu salʸ bhañi ŧai đalu jiŧaū īv juđhu kari ||1||21||

SALL speaks the truth; O Guru Amar Daas, you have conquered the army of evil, fighting the battle this way. ||1||21||


ਘਨਹਰ ਬੂੰਦ ਬਸੁਅ ਰੋਮਾਵਲਿ ਕੁਸਮ ਬਸੰਤ ਗਨੰਤ ਨ ਆਵੈ ॥

घनहर बूंद बसुअ रोमावलि कुसम बसंत गनंत न आवै ॥

Ghanahar boonđđ basuâ romaavali kusam basanŧŧ gananŧŧ na âavai ||

The raindrops of the clouds, the plants of the earth, and the flowers of the spring cannot be counted.

ਰਵਿ ਸਸਿ ਕਿਰਣਿ ਉਦਰੁ ਸਾਗਰ ਕੋ ਗੰਗ ਤਰੰਗ ਅੰਤੁ ਕੋ ਪਾਵੈ ॥

रवि ससि किरणि उदरु सागर को गंग तरंग अंतु को पावै ॥

Ravi sasi kirañi ūđaru saagar ko gangg ŧarangg ânŧŧu ko paavai ||

Who can know the limits of the rays of the sun and the moon, the waves of the ocean and the Ganges?

ਰੁਦ੍ਰ ਧਿਆਨ ਗਿਆਨ ਸਤਿਗੁਰ ਕੇ ਕਬਿ ਜਨ ਭਲੵ ਉਨਹ ਜੋੁ ਗਾਵੈ ॥

रुद्र धिआन गिआन सतिगुर के कबि जन भल्य उनह जो गावै ॥

Ruđr đhiâan giâan saŧigur ke kabi jan bhalʸ ūnah jao gaavai ||

With Shiva's meditation and the spiritual wisdom of the True Guru, says BHALL the poet, these may be counted.

ਭਲੇ ਅਮਰਦਾਸ ਗੁਣ ਤੇਰੇ ਤੇਰੀ ਉਪਮਾ ਤੋਹਿ ਬਨਿ ਆਵੈ ॥੧॥੨੨॥

भले अमरदास गुण तेरे तेरी उपमा तोहि बनि आवै ॥१॥२२॥

Bhale âmarađaas guñ ŧere ŧeree ūpamaa ŧohi bani âavai ||1||22||

O Guru Amar Daas, Your Glorious Virtues are so sublime; Your Praises belong only to You. ||1||22||
