ੴ ਸਤਿ ਨਾਮੁ ਕਰਤਾ ਪੁਰਖੁ ਨਿਰਭਉ ਨਿਰਵੈਰੁ ਅਕਾਲ ਮੂਰਤਿ ਅਜੂਨੀ ਸੈਭੰ ਗੁਰਪ੍ਰਸਾਦਿ ॥

ੴ सति नामु करता पुरखु निरभउ निरवैरु अकाल मूरति अजूनी सैभं गुरप्रसादि ॥

Ik-oamkkaari sati naamu karataa purakhu nirabhau niravairu akaal moorati ajoonee saibhann guraprsaadi ||

ਯਕ ਅਰਜ ਗੁਫਤਮ ਪੇਸਿ ਤੋ ਦਰ ਗੋਸ ਕੁਨ ਕਰਤਾਰ ॥

यक अरज गुफतम पेसि तो दर गोस कुन करतार ॥

Yak araj guphatam pesi to dar gos kun karataar ||

I offer this one prayer to You; please listen to it, O Creator Lord.

ਹਕਾ ਕਬੀਰ ਕਰੀਮ ਤੂ ਬੇਐਬ ਪਰਵਦਗਾਰ ॥੧॥

हका कबीर करीम तू बेऐब परवदगार ॥१॥

Hakaa kabeer kareem too beaib paravadagaar ||1||

You are true, great, merciful and spotless, O Cherisher Lord. ||1||

ਦੁਨੀਆ ਮੁਕਾਮੇ ਫਾਨੀ ਤਹਕੀਕ ਦਿਲ ਦਾਨੀ ॥

दुनीआ मुकामे फानी तहकीक दिल दानी ॥

Duneeaa mukaame phaanee tahakeek dil daanee ||

The world is a transitory place of mortality - know this for certain in your mind.

ਮਮ ਸਰ ਮੂਇ ਅਜਰਾਈਲ ਗਿਰਫਤਹ ਦਿਲ ਹੇਚਿ ਨ ਦਾਨੀ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥

मम सर मूइ अजराईल गिरफतह दिल हेचि न दानी ॥१॥ रहाउ ॥

Mam sar mooi ajaraaeel giraphatah dil hechi na daanee ||1|| rahaau ||

Azraa-eel, the Messenger of Death, has caught me by the hair on my head, and yet, I do not know it at all in my mind. ||1|| Pause ||

ਜਨ ਪਿਸਰ ਪਦਰ ਬਿਰਾਦਰਾਂ ਕਸ ਨੇਸ ਦਸਤੰਗੀਰ ॥

जन पिसर पदर बिरादरां कस नेस दसतंगीर ॥

Jan pisar padar biraadaraan kas nes dasatanggeer ||

Spouse, children, parents and siblings - none of them will be there to hold your hand.

ਆਖਿਰ ਬਿਅਫਤਮ ਕਸ ਨ ਦਾਰਦ ਚੂੰ ਸਵਦ ਤਕਬੀਰ ॥੨॥

आखिर बिअफतम कस न दारद चूं सवद तकबीर ॥२॥

Aakhir biaphatam kas na daarad choonn savad takabeer ||2||

And when at last I fall, and the time of my last prayer has come, there shall be no one to rescue me. ||2||

ਸਬ ਰੋਜ ਗਸਤਮ ਦਰ ਹਵਾ ਕਰਦੇਮ ਬਦੀ ਖਿਆਲ ॥

सब रोज गसतम दर हवा करदेम बदी खिआल ॥

Sab roj gasatam dar havaa karadem badee khiaal ||

Night and day, I wandered around in greed, contemplating evil schemes.

ਗਾਹੇ ਨ ਨੇਕੀ ਕਾਰ ਕਰਦਮ ਮਮ ਈਂ ਚਿਨੀ ਅਹਵਾਲ ॥੩॥

गाहे न नेकी कार करदम मम ईं चिनी अहवाल ॥३॥

Gaahe na nekee kaar karadam mam een chinee ahavaal ||3||

I never did good deeds; this is my condition. ||3||

ਬਦਬਖਤ ਹਮ ਚੁ ਬਖੀਲ ਗਾਫਿਲ ਬੇਨਜਰ ਬੇਬਾਕ ॥

बदबखत हम चु बखील गाफिल बेनजर बेबाक ॥

Badabakhat ham chu bakheel gaaphil benajar bebaak ||

I am unfortunate, miserly, negligent, shameless and without the Fear of God.

ਨਾਨਕ ਬੁਗੋਯਦ ਜਨੁ ਤੁਰਾ ਤੇਰੇ ਚਾਕਰਾਂ ਪਾ ਖਾਕ ॥੪॥੧॥

नानक बुगोयद जनु तुरा तेरे चाकरां पा खाक ॥४॥१॥

Naanak bugoyad janu turaa tere chaakaraan paa khaak ||4||1||

Says Nanak, I am Your humble servant, the dust of the feet of Your slaves. ||4||1||

ਭਉ ਤੇਰਾ ਭਾਂਗ ਖਲੜੀ ਮੇਰਾ ਚੀਤੁ ॥

भउ तेरा भांग खलड़ी मेरा चीतु ॥

Bhau teraa bhaang khala(rr)ee meraa cheetu ||

The Fear of You, O Lord God, is my marijuana; my consciousness is the pouch which holds it.

ਮੈ ਦੇਵਾਨਾ ਭਇਆ ਅਤੀਤੁ ॥

मै देवाना भइआ अतीतु ॥

Mai devaanaa bhaiaa ateetu ||

I have become an intoxicated hermit.

ਕਰ ਕਾਸਾ ਦਰਸਨ ਕੀ ਭੂਖ ॥

कर कासा दरसन की भूख ॥

Kar kaasaa darasan kee bhookh ||

My hands are my begging bowl; I am so hungry for the Blessed Vision of Your Darshan.

ਮੈ ਦਰਿ ਮਾਗਉ ਨੀਤਾ ਨੀਤ ॥੧॥

मै दरि मागउ नीता नीत ॥१॥

Mai dari maagau neetaa neet ||1||

I beg at Your Door, day after day. ||1||

ਤਉ ਦਰਸਨ ਕੀ ਕਰਉ ਸਮਾਇ ॥

तउ दरसन की करउ समाइ ॥

Tau darasan kee karau samaai ||

I long for the Blessed Vision of Your Darshan.

ਮੈ ਦਰਿ ਮਾਗਤੁ ਭੀਖਿਆ ਪਾਇ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥

मै दरि मागतु भीखिआ पाइ ॥१॥ रहाउ ॥

Mai dari maagatu bheekhiaa paai ||1|| rahaau ||

I am a beggar at Your Door - please bless me with Your charity. ||1|| Pause ||

ਕੇਸਰਿ ਕੁਸਮ ਮਿਰਗਮੈ ਹਰਣਾ ਸਰਬ ਸਰੀਰੀ ਚੜ੍ਹ੍ਹਣਾ ॥

केसरि कुसम मिरगमै हरणा सरब सरीरी चड़्हणा ॥

Kesari kusam miragamai hara(nn)aa sarab sareeree cha(rr)h(nn)aa ||

Saffron, flowers, musk oil and gold embellish the bodies of all.

ਚੰਦਨ ਭਗਤਾ ਜੋਤਿ ਇਨੇਹੀ ਸਰਬੇ ਪਰਮਲੁ ਕਰਣਾ ॥੨॥

चंदन भगता जोति इनेही सरबे परमलु करणा ॥२॥

Chanddan bhagataa joti inehee sarabe paramalu kara(nn)aa ||2||

The Lord's devotees are like sandalwood, which imparts its fragrance to everyone. ||2||

ਘਿਅ ਪਟ ਭਾਂਡਾ ਕਹੈ ਨ ਕੋਇ ॥

घिअ पट भांडा कहै न कोइ ॥

Ghia pat bhaandaa kahai na koi ||

No one says that ghee or silk are polluted.

ਐਸਾ ਭਗਤੁ ਵਰਨ ਮਹਿ ਹੋਇ ॥

ऐसा भगतु वरन महि होइ ॥

Aisaa bhagatu varan mahi hoi ||

Such is the Lord's devotee, no matter what his social status is.

ਤੇਰੈ ਨਾਮਿ ਨਿਵੇ ਰਹੇ ਲਿਵ ਲਾਇ ॥

तेरै नामि निवे रहे लिव लाइ ॥

Terai naami nive rahe liv laai ||

Those who bow in reverence to the Naam, the Name of the Lord, remain absorbed in Your Love.

ਨਾਨਕ ਤਿਨ ਦਰਿ ਭੀਖਿਆ ਪਾਇ ॥੩॥੧॥੨॥

नानक तिन दरि भीखिआ पाइ ॥३॥१॥२॥

Naanak tin dari bheekhiaa paai ||3||1||2||

Nanak begs for charity at their door. ||3||1||2||

ਇਹੁ ਤਨੁ ਮਾਇਆ ਪਾਹਿਆ ਪਿਆਰੇ ਲੀਤੜਾ ਲਬਿ ਰੰਗਾਏ ॥

इहु तनु माइआ पाहिआ पिआरे लीतड़ा लबि रंगाए ॥

Ihu tanu maaiaa paahiaa piaare leeta(rr)aa labi ranggaae ||

This body fabric is conditioned by Maya, O beloved; this cloth is dyed in greed.

ਮੇਰੈ ਕੰਤ ਨ ਭਾਵੈ ਚੋਲੜਾ ਪਿਆਰੇ ਕਿਉ ਧਨ ਸੇਜੈ ਜਾਏ ॥੧॥

मेरै कंत न भावै चोलड़ा पिआरे किउ धन सेजै जाए ॥१॥

Merai kantt na bhaavai chola(rr)aa piaare kiu dhan sejai jaae ||1||

My Husband Lord is not pleased by these clothes, O Beloved; how can the soul-bride go to His bed? ||1||

ਹੰਉ ਕੁਰਬਾਨੈ ਜਾਉ ਮਿਹਰਵਾਨਾ ਹੰਉ ਕੁਰਬਾਨੈ ਜਾਉ ॥

हंउ कुरबानै जाउ मिहरवाना हंउ कुरबानै जाउ ॥

Hannu kurabaanai jaau miharavaanaa hannu kurabaanai jaau ||

I am a sacrifice, O Dear Merciful Lord; I am a sacrifice to You.

ਹੰਉ ਕੁਰਬਾਨੈ ਜਾਉ ਤਿਨਾ ਕੈ ਲੈਨਿ ਜੋ ਤੇਰਾ ਨਾਉ ॥

हंउ कुरबानै जाउ तिना कै लैनि जो तेरा नाउ ॥

Hannu kurabaanai jaau tinaa kai laini jo teraa naau ||

I am a sacrifice to those who take to Your Name.

ਲੈਨਿ ਜੋ ਤੇਰਾ ਨਾਉ ਤਿਨਾ ਕੈ ਹੰਉ ਸਦ ਕੁਰਬਾਨੈ ਜਾਉ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥

लैनि जो तेरा नाउ तिना कै हंउ सद कुरबानै जाउ ॥१॥ रहाउ ॥

Laini jo teraa naau tinaa kai hannu sad kurabaanai jaau ||1|| rahaau ||

Unto those who take to Your Name, I am forever a sacrifice. ||1|| Pause ||

ਕਾਇਆ ਰੰਙਣਿ ਜੇ ਥੀਐ ਪਿਆਰੇ ਪਾਈਐ ਨਾਉ ਮਜੀਠ ॥

काइआ रंङणि जे थीऐ पिआरे पाईऐ नाउ मजीठ ॥

Kaaiaa ran(ng)(ng)a(nn)i je theeai piaare paaeeai naau majeeth ||

If the body becomes the dyer's vat, O Beloved, and the Name is placed within it as the dye,

ਰੰਙਣ ਵਾਲਾ ਜੇ ਰੰਙੈ ਸਾਹਿਬੁ ਐਸਾ ਰੰਗੁ ਨ ਡੀਠ ॥੨॥

रंङण वाला जे रंङै साहिबु ऐसा रंगु न डीठ ॥२॥

Ran(ng)(ng)a(nn) vaalaa je ran(ng)(ng)ai saahibu aisaa ranggu na deeth ||2||

And if the Dyer who dyes this cloth is the Lord Master - O, such a color has never been seen before! ||2||

ਜਿਨ ਕੇ ਚੋਲੇ ਰਤੜੇ ਪਿਆਰੇ ਕੰਤੁ ਤਿਨਾ ਕੈ ਪਾਸਿ ॥

जिन के चोले रतड़े पिआरे कंतु तिना कै पासि ॥

Jin ke chole rata(rr)e piaare kanttu tinaa kai paasi ||

Those whose shawls are so dyed, O Beloved, their Husband Lord is always with them.

ਧੂੜਿ ਤਿਨਾ ਕੀ ਜੇ ਮਿਲੈ ਜੀ ਕਹੁ ਨਾਨਕ ਕੀ ਅਰਦਾਸਿ ॥੩॥

धूड़ि तिना की जे मिलै जी कहु नानक की अरदासि ॥३॥

Dhoo(rr)i tinaa kee je milai jee kahu naanak kee aradaasi ||3||

Bless me with the dust of those humble beings, O Dear Lord. Says Nanak, this is my prayer. ||3||

ਆਪੇ ਸਾਜੇ ਆਪੇ ਰੰਗੇ ਆਪੇ ਨਦਰਿ ਕਰੇਇ ॥

आपे साजे आपे रंगे आपे नदरि करेइ ॥

Aape saaje aape rangge aape nadari karei ||

He Himself creates, and He Himself imbues us. He Himself bestows His Glance of Grace.

ਨਾਨਕ ਕਾਮਣਿ ਕੰਤੈ ਭਾਵੈ ਆਪੇ ਹੀ ਰਾਵੇਇ ॥੪॥੧॥੩॥

नानक कामणि कंतै भावै आपे ही रावेइ ॥४॥१॥३॥

Naanak kaama(nn)i kanttai bhaavai aape hee raavei ||4||1||3||

O Nanak, if the soul-bride becomes pleasing to her Husband Lord, He Himself enjoys her. ||4||1||3||

ਇਆਨੜੀਏ ਮਾਨੜਾ ਕਾਇ ਕਰੇਹਿ ॥

इआनड़ीए मानड़ा काइ करेहि ॥

Iaana(rr)eee maana(rr)aa kaai karehi ||

O foolish and ignorant soul-bride, why are you so proud?

ਆਪਨੜੈ ਘਰਿ ਹਰਿ ਰੰਗੋ ਕੀ ਨ ਮਾਣੇਹਿ ॥

आपनड़ै घरि हरि रंगो की न माणेहि ॥

Aapana(rr)ai ghari hari ranggo kee na maa(nn)ehi ||

Within the home of your own self, why do you not enjoy the Love of your Lord?

ਸਹੁ ਨੇੜੈ ਧਨ ਕੰਮਲੀਏ ਬਾਹਰੁ ਕਿਆ ਢੂਢੇਹਿ ॥

सहु नेड़ै धन कमलीए बाहरु किआ ढूढेहि ॥

Sahu ne(rr)ai dhan kammaleee baaharu kiaa dhoodhehi ||

Your Husband Lord is so very near, O foolish bride; why do you search for Him outside?

ਭੈ ਕੀਆ ਦੇਹਿ ਸਲਾਈਆ ਨੈਣੀ ਭਾਵ ਕਾ ਕਰਿ ਸੀਗਾਰੋ ॥

भै कीआ देहि सलाईआ नैणी भाव का करि सीगारो ॥

Bhai keeaa dehi salaaeeaa nai(nn)ee bhaav kaa kari seegaaro ||

Apply the Fear of God as the mascara to adorn your eyes, and make the Love of the Lord your ornament.

ਤਾ ਸੋਹਾਗਣਿ ਜਾਣੀਐ ਲਾਗੀ ਜਾ ਸਹੁ ਧਰੇ ਪਿਆਰੋ ॥੧॥

ता सोहागणि जाणीऐ लागी जा सहु धरे पिआरो ॥१॥

Taa sohaaga(nn)i jaa(nn)eeai laagee jaa sahu dhare piaaro ||1||

Then, you shall be known as a devoted and committed soul-bride, when you enshrine love for your Husband Lord. ||1||

ਇਆਣੀ ਬਾਲੀ ਕਿਆ ਕਰੇ ਜਾ ਧਨ ਕੰਤ ਨ ਭਾਵੈ ॥

इआणी बाली किआ करे जा धन कंत न भावै ॥

Iaa(nn)ee baalee kiaa kare jaa dhan kantt na bhaavai ||

What can the silly young bride do, if she is not pleasing to her Husband Lord?

ਕਰਣ ਪਲਾਹ ਕਰੇ ਬਹੁਤੇਰੇ ਸਾ ਧਨ ਮਹਲੁ ਨ ਪਾਵੈ ॥

करण पलाह करे बहुतेरे सा धन महलु न पावै ॥

Kara(nn) palaah kare bahutere saa dhan mahalu na paavai ||

She may plead and implore so many times, but still, such a bride shall not obtain the Mansion of the Lord's Presence.

ਵਿਣੁ ਕਰਮਾ ਕਿਛੁ ਪਾਈਐ ਨਾਹੀ ਜੇ ਬਹੁਤੇਰਾ ਧਾਵੈ ॥

विणु करमा किछु पाईऐ नाही जे बहुतेरा धावै ॥

Vi(nn)u karamaa kichhu paaeeai naahee je bahuteraa dhaavai ||

Without the karma of good deeds, nothing is obtained, although she may run around frantically.

ਲਬ ਲੋਭ ਅਹੰਕਾਰ ਕੀ ਮਾਤੀ ਮਾਇਆ ਮਾਹਿ ਸਮਾਣੀ ॥

लब लोभ अहंकार की माती माइआ माहि समाणी ॥

Lab lobh ahankkaar kee maatee maaiaa maahi samaa(nn)ee ||

She is intoxicated with greed, pride and egotism, and engrossed in Maya.

ਇਨੀ ਬਾਤੀ ਸਹੁ ਪਾਈਐ ਨਾਹੀ ਭਈ ਕਾਮਣਿ ਇਆਣੀ ॥੨॥

इनी बाती सहु पाईऐ नाही भई कामणि इआणी ॥२॥

Inee baatee sahu paaeeai naahee bhaee kaama(nn)i iaa(nn)ee ||2||

She cannot obtain her Husband Lord in these ways; the young bride is so foolish! ||2||

ਜਾਇ ਪੁਛਹੁ ਸੋਹਾਗਣੀ ਵਾਹੈ ਕਿਨੀ ਬਾਤੀ ਸਹੁ ਪਾਈਐ ॥

जाइ पुछहु सोहागणी वाहै किनी बाती सहु पाईऐ ॥

Jaai puchhahu sohaaga(nn)ee vaahai kinee baatee sahu paaeeai ||

Go and ask the happy, pure soul-brides, how did they obtain their Husband Lord?

ਜੋ ਕਿਛੁ ਕਰੇ ਸੋ ਭਲਾ ਕਰਿ ਮਾਨੀਐ ਹਿਕਮਤਿ ਹੁਕਮੁ ਚੁਕਾਈਐ ॥

जो किछु करे सो भला करि मानीऐ हिकमति हुकमु चुकाईऐ ॥

Jo kichhu kare so bhalaa kari maaneeai hikamati hukamu chukaaeeai ||

Whatever the Lord does, accept that as good; do away with your own cleverness and self-will.

ਜਾ ਕੈ ਪ੍ਰੇਮਿ ਪਦਾਰਥੁ ਪਾਈਐ ਤਉ ਚਰਣੀ ਚਿਤੁ ਲਾਈਐ ॥

जा कै प्रेमि पदारथु पाईऐ तउ चरणी चितु लाईऐ ॥

Jaa kai premi padaarathu paaeeai tau chara(nn)ee chitu laaeeai ||

By His Love, true wealth is obtained; link your consciousness to His lotus feet.

ਸਹੁ ਕਹੈ ਸੋ ਕੀਜੈ ਤਨੁ ਮਨੋ ਦੀਜੈ ਐਸਾ ਪਰਮਲੁ ਲਾਈਐ ॥

सहु कहै सो कीजै तनु मनो दीजै ऐसा परमलु लाईऐ ॥

Sahu kahai so keejai tanu mano deejai aisaa paramalu laaeeai ||

As your Husband Lord directs, so you must act; surrender your body and mind to Him, and apply this perfume to yourself.

ਏਵ ਕਹਹਿ ਸੋਹਾਗਣੀ ਭੈਣੇ ਇਨੀ ਬਾਤੀ ਸਹੁ ਪਾਈਐ ॥੩॥

एव कहहि सोहागणी भैणे इनी बाती सहु पाईऐ ॥३॥

Ev kahahi sohaaga(nn)ee bhai(nn)e inee baatee sahu paaeeai ||3||

So speaks the happy soul-bride, O sister; in this way, the Husband Lord is obtained. ||3||

ਆਪੁ ਗਵਾਈਐ ਤਾ ਸਹੁ ਪਾਈਐ ਅਉਰੁ ਕੈਸੀ ਚਤੁਰਾਈ ॥

आपु गवाईऐ ता सहु पाईऐ अउरु कैसी चतुराई ॥

Aapu gavaaeeai taa sahu paaeeai auru kaisee chaturaaee ||

Give up your selfhood, and so obtain your Husband Lord; what other clever tricks are of any use?

ਸਹੁ ਨਦਰਿ ਕਰਿ ਦੇਖੈ ਸੋ ਦਿਨੁ ਲੇਖੈ ਕਾਮਣਿ ਨਉ ਨਿਧਿ ਪਾਈ ॥

सहु नदरि करि देखै सो दिनु लेखै कामणि नउ निधि पाई ॥

Sahu nadari kari dekhai so dinu lekhai kaama(nn)i nau nidhi paaee ||

When the Husband Lord looks upon the soul-bride with His Gracious Glance, that day is historic - the bride obtains the nine treasures.

ਆਪਣੇ ਕੰਤ ਪਿਆਰੀ ਸਾ ਸੋਹਾਗਣਿ ਨਾਨਕ ਸਾ ਸਭਰਾਈ ॥

आपणे कंत पिआरी सा सोहागणि नानक सा सभराई ॥

Aapa(nn)e kantt piaaree saa sohaaga(nn)i naanak saa sabharaaee ||

She who is loved by her Husband Lord, is the true soul-bride; O Nanak, she is the queen of all.

ਐਸੈ ਰੰਗਿ ਰਾਤੀ ਸਹਜ ਕੀ ਮਾਤੀ ਅਹਿਨਿਸਿ ਭਾਇ ਸਮਾਣੀ ॥

ऐसै रंगि राती सहज की माती अहिनिसि भाइ समाणी ॥

Aisai ranggi raatee sahaj kee maatee ahinisi bhaai samaa(nn)ee ||

Thus she is imbued with His Love, intoxicated with delight; day and night, she is absorbed in His Love.

ਸੁੰਦਰਿ ਸਾਇ ਸਰੂਪ ਬਿਚਖਣਿ ਕਹੀਐ ਸਾ ਸਿਆਣੀ ॥੪॥੨॥੪॥

सुंदरि साइ सरूप बिचखणि कहीऐ सा सिआणी ॥४॥२॥४॥

ਜੈਸੀ ਮੈ ਆਵੈ ਖਸਮ ਕੀ ਬਾਣੀ ਤੈਸੜਾ ਕਰੀ ਗਿਆਨੁ ਵੇ ਲਾਲੋ ॥

जैसी मै आवै खसम की बाणी तैसड़ा करी गिआनु वे लालो ॥

Jaisee mai aavai khasam kee baa(nn)ee taisa(rr)aa karee giaanu ve laalo ||

As the Word of the Forgiving Lord comes to me, so do I express it, O Lalo.

ਪਾਪ ਕੀ ਜੰਞ ਲੈ ਕਾਬਲਹੁ ਧਾਇਆ ਜੋਰੀ ਮੰਗੈ ਦਾਨੁ ਵੇ ਲਾਲੋ ॥

पाप की जंञ लै काबलहु धाइआ जोरी मंगै दानु वे लालो ॥

Paap kee jan(ny) lai kaabalahu dhaaiaa joree manggai daanu ve laalo ||

Bringing the marriage party of sin, Babar has invaded from Kaabul, demanding our land as his wedding gift, O Lalo.

ਸਰਮੁ ਧਰਮੁ ਦੁਇ ਛਪਿ ਖਲੋਏ ਕੂੜੁ ਫਿਰੈ ਪਰਧਾਨੁ ਵੇ ਲਾਲੋ ॥

सरमु धरमु दुइ छपि खलोए कूड़ु फिरै परधानु वे लालो ॥

Saramu dharamu dui chhapi khaloe koo(rr)u phirai paradhaanu ve laalo ||

Modesty and righteousness both have vanished, and falsehood struts around like a leader, O Lalo.

ਕਾਜੀਆ ਬਾਮਣਾ ਕੀ ਗਲ ਥਕੀ ਅਗਦੁ ਪੜੈ ਸੈਤਾਨੁ ਵੇ ਲਾਲੋ ॥

काजीआ बामणा की गल थकी अगदु पड़ै सैतानु वे लालो ॥

Kaajeeaa baama(nn)aa kee gal thakee agadu pa(rr)ai saitaanu ve laalo ||

The Qazis and the Brahmins have lost their roles, and Satan now conducts the marriage rites, O Lalo.

ਮੁਸਲਮਾਨੀਆ ਪੜਹਿ ਕਤੇਬਾ ਕਸਟ ਮਹਿ ਕਰਹਿ ਖੁਦਾਇ ਵੇ ਲਾਲੋ ॥

मुसलमानीआ पड़हि कतेबा कसट महि करहि खुदाइ वे लालो ॥

Musalamaaneeaa pa(rr)ahi katebaa kasat mahi karahi khudaai ve laalo ||

The Muslim women read the Koran, and in their misery, they call upon God, O Lalo.

ਜਾਤਿ ਸਨਾਤੀ ਹੋਰਿ ਹਿਦਵਾਣੀਆ ਏਹਿ ਭੀ ਲੇਖੈ ਲਾਇ ਵੇ ਲਾਲੋ ॥

जाति सनाती होरि हिदवाणीआ एहि भी लेखै लाइ वे लालो ॥

Jaati sanaatee hori hidavaa(nn)eeaa ehi bhee lekhai laai ve laalo ||

The Hindu women of high social status, and others of lowly status as well, are put into the same category, O Lalo.

ਖੂਨ ਕੇ ਸੋਹਿਲੇ ਗਾਵੀਅਹਿ ਨਾਨਕ ਰਤੁ ਕਾ ਕੁੰਗੂ ਪਾਇ ਵੇ ਲਾਲੋ ॥੧॥

खून के सोहिले गावीअहि नानक रतु का कुंगू पाइ वे लालो ॥१॥

Khoon ke sohile gaaveeahi naanak ratu kaa kunggoo paai ve laalo ||1||

The wedding songs of murder are sung, O Nanak, and blood is sprinkled instead of saffron, O Lalo. ||1||

ਸਾਹਿਬ ਕੇ ਗੁਣ ਨਾਨਕੁ ਗਾਵੈ ਮਾਸ ਪੁਰੀ ਵਿਚਿ ਆਖੁ ਮਸੋਲਾ ॥

साहिब के गुण नानकु गावै मास पुरी विचि आखु मसोला ॥

Saahib ke gu(nn) naanaku gaavai maas puree vichi aakhu masolaa ||

Nanak sings the Glorious Praises of the Lord and Master in the city of corpses, and voices this account.

ਜਿਨਿ ਉਪਾਈ ਰੰਗਿ ਰਵਾਈ ਬੈਠਾ ਵੇਖੈ ਵਖਿ ਇਕੇਲਾ ॥

जिनि उपाई रंगि रवाई बैठा वेखै वखि इकेला ॥

Jini upaaee ranggi ravaaee baithaa vekhai vakhi ikelaa ||

The One who created, and attached the mortals to pleasures, sits alone, and watches this.

ਸਚਾ ਸੋ ਸਾਹਿਬੁ ਸਚੁ ਤਪਾਵਸੁ ਸਚੜਾ ਨਿਆਉ ਕਰੇਗੁ ਮਸੋਲਾ ॥

सचा सो साहिबु सचु तपावसु सचड़ा निआउ करेगु मसोला ॥

Sachaa so saahibu sachu tapaavasu sacha(rr)aa niaau karegu masolaa ||

The Lord and Master is True, and True is His justice. He issues His Commands according to His judgement.

ਕਾਇਆ ਕਪੜੁ ਟੁਕੁ ਟੁਕੁ ਹੋਸੀ ਹਿਦੁਸਤਾਨੁ ਸਮਾਲਸੀ ਬੋਲਾ ॥

काइआ कपड़ु टुकु टुकु होसी हिदुसतानु समालसी बोला ॥

Kaaiaa kapa(rr)u tuku tuku hosee hidusataanu samaalasee bolaa ||

The body-fabric will be torn apart into shreds, and then India will remember these words.

ਆਵਨਿ ਅਠਤਰੈ ਜਾਨਿ ਸਤਾਨਵੈ ਹੋਰੁ ਭੀ ਉਠਸੀ ਮਰਦ ਕਾ ਚੇਲਾ ॥

आवनि अठतरै जानि सतानवै होरु भी उठसी मरद का चेला ॥

Aavani athatarai jaani sataanavai horu bhee uthasee marad kaa chelaa ||

Coming in seventy-eight (1521 A.D.), they will depart in ninety-seven (1540 A.D.), and then another disciple of man will rise up.

ਸਚ ਕੀ ਬਾਣੀ ਨਾਨਕੁ ਆਖੈ ਸਚੁ ਸੁਣਾਇਸੀ ਸਚ ਕੀ ਬੇਲਾ ॥੨॥੩॥੫॥

सच की बाणी नानकु आखै सचु सुणाइसी सच की बेला ॥२॥३॥५॥

Sach kee baa(nn)ee naanaku aakhai sachu su(nn)aaisee sach kee belaa ||2||3||5||

Nanak speaks the Word of Truth; he proclaims the Truth at this, the right time. ||2||3||5||

ੴ ਸਤਿਗੁਰ ਪ੍ਰਸਾਦਿ ॥

Ik-oamkkaari satigur prsaadi ||

One Universal Creator God. By The Grace Of The True Guru:

ਸਭਿ ਆਏ ਹੁਕਮਿ ਖਸਮਾਹੁ ਹੁਕਮਿ ਸਭ ਵਰਤਨੀ ॥

सभि आए हुकमि खसमाहु हुकमि सभ वरतनी ॥

Sabhi aae hukami khasamaahu hukami sabh varatanee ||

Everyone comes by Command of the Lord and Master. The Hukam of His Command extends to all.

ਸਚੁ ਸਾਹਿਬੁ ਸਾਚਾ ਖੇਲੁ ਸਭੁ ਹਰਿ ਧਨੀ ॥੧॥

सचु साहिबु साचा खेलु सभु हरि धनी ॥१॥

Sachu saahibu saachaa khelu sabhu hari dhanee ||1||

True is the Lord and Master, and True is His play. The Lord is the Master of all. ||1||

ਸਾਲਾਹਿਹੁ ਸਚੁ ਸਭ ਊਪਰਿ ਹਰਿ ਧਨੀ ॥

सालाहिहु सचु सभ ऊपरि हरि धनी ॥

Saalaahihu sachu sabh upari hari dhanee ||

So praise the True Lord; the Lord is the Master over all.

ਜਿਸੁ ਨਾਹੀ ਕੋਇ ਸਰੀਕੁ ਕਿਸੁ ਲੇਖੈ ਹਉ ਗਨੀ ॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥

जिसु नाही कोइ सरीकु किसु लेखै हउ गनी ॥ रहाउ ॥

Jisu naahee koi sareeku kisu lekhai hau ganee || rahaau ||

No one is equal to Him; am I of any account? || Pause ||

ਪਉਣ ਪਾਣੀ ਧਰਤੀ ਆਕਾਸੁ ਘਰ ਮੰਦਰ ਹਰਿ ਬਨੀ ॥

पउण पाणी धरती आकासु घर मंदर हरि बनी ॥

Pau(nn) paa(nn)ee dharatee aakaasu ghar manddar hari banee ||

Air, water, earth and sky - the Lord has made these His home and temple.

ਵਿਚਿ ਵਰਤੈ ਨਾਨਕ ਆਪਿ ਝੂਠੁ ਕਹੁ ਕਿਆ ਗਨੀ ॥੨॥੧॥

विचि वरतै नानक आपि झूठु कहु किआ गनी ॥२॥१॥

Vichi varatai naanak aapi jhoothu kahu kiaa ganee ||2||1||

He Himself is pervading everywhere, O Nanak. Tell me: what can be counted as false? ||2||1||

Tilang, Fourth Mehl:

ਨਿਤ ਨਿਹਫਲ ਕਰਮ ਕਮਾਇ ਬਫਾਵੈ ਦੁਰਮਤੀਆ ॥

नित निहफल करम कमाइ बफावै दुरमतीआ ॥

Nit nihaphal karam kamaai baphaavai duramateeaa ||

The evil-minded person continually does fruitless deeds, all puffed up with pride.

ਜਬ ਆਣੈ ਵਲਵੰਚ ਕਰਿ ਝੂਠੁ ਤਬ ਜਾਣੈ ਜਗੁ ਜਿਤੀਆ ॥੧॥

जब आणै वलवंच करि झूठु तब जाणै जगु जितीआ ॥१॥

Jab aa(nn)ai valavancch kari jhoothu tab jaa(nn)ai jagu jiteeaa ||1||

When he brings home what he has acquired, by practicing deception and falsehood, he thinks that he has conquered the world. ||1||

ਐਸਾ ਬਾਜੀ ਸੈਸਾਰੁ ਨ ਚੇਤੈ ਹਰਿ ਨਾਮਾ ॥

ऐसा बाजी सैसारु न चेतै हरि नामा ॥

Aisaa baajee saisaaru na chetai hari naamaa ||

Such is the drama of the world, that he does not contemplate the Lord's Name.

ਖਿਨ ਮਹਿ ਬਿਨਸੈ ਸਭੁ ਝੂਠੁ ਮੇਰੇ ਮਨ ਧਿਆਇ ਰਾਮਾ ॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥

खिन महि बिनसै सभु झूठु मेरे मन धिआइ रामा ॥ रहाउ ॥

Khin mahi binasai sabhu jhoothu mere man dhiaai raamaa || rahaau ||

In an instant, all this false play shall perish; O my mind, meditate on the Lord. || Pause ||

ਸਾ ਵੇਲਾ ਚਿਤਿ ਨ ਆਵੈ ਜਿਤੁ ਆਇ ਕੰਟਕੁ ਕਾਲੁ ਗ੍ਰਸੈ ॥

सा वेला चिति न आवै जितु आइ कंटकु कालु ग्रसै ॥

Saa velaa chiti na aavai jitu aai kanttaku kaalu grsai ||

He does not think of that time, when Death, the Torturer, shall come and seize him.

ਤਿਸੁ ਨਾਨਕ ਲਏ ਛਡਾਇ ਜਿਸੁ ਕਿਰਪਾ ਕਰਿ ਹਿਰਦੈ ਵਸੈ ॥੨॥੨॥

तिसु नानक लए छडाइ जिसु किरपा करि हिरदै वसै ॥२॥२॥

Tisu naanak lae chhadaai jisu kirapaa kari hiradai vasai ||2||2||

O Nanak, the Lord saves that one, within whose heart the Lord, in His Kind Mercy, dwells. ||2||2||

खाक नूर करदं आलम दुनीआइ ॥

Khaak noor karadann aalam duneeaai ||

The Lord infused His Light into the dust, and created the world, the universe.

ਅਸਮਾਨ ਜਿਮੀ ਦਰਖਤ ਆਬ ਪੈਦਾਇਸਿ ਖੁਦਾਇ ॥੧॥

असमान जिमी दरखत आब पैदाइसि खुदाइ ॥१॥

Asamaan jimee darakhat aab paidaaisi khudaai ||1||

The sky, the earth, the trees, and the water - all are the Creation of the Lord. ||1||

ਬੰਦੇ ਚਸਮ ਦੀਦੰ ਫਨਾਇ ॥

बंदे चसम दीदं फनाइ ॥

Bandde chasam deedann phanaai ||

O human being, whatever you can see with your eyes, shall perish.

ਦੁਨੀਂਆ ਮੁਰਦਾਰ ਖੁਰਦਨੀ ਗਾਫਲ ਹਵਾਇ ॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥

दुनींआ मुरदार खुरदनी गाफल हवाइ ॥ रहाउ ॥

Duneenaa muradaar khuradanee gaaphal havaai || rahaau ||

The world eats dead carcasses, living by neglect and greed. || Pause ||

ਗੈਬਾਨ ਹੈਵਾਨ ਹਰਾਮ ਕੁਸਤਨੀ ਮੁਰਦਾਰ ਬਖੋਰਾਇ ॥

गैबान हैवान हराम कुसतनी मुरदार बखोराइ ॥

Gaibaan haivaan haraam kusatanee muradaar bakhoraai ||

Like a goblin, or a beast, they kill and eat the forbidden carcasses of meat.

ਦਿਲ ਕਬਜ ਕਬਜਾ ਕਾਦਰੋ ਦੋਜਕ ਸਜਾਇ ॥੨॥

दिल कबज कबजा कादरो दोजक सजाइ ॥२॥

Dil kabaj kabajaa kaadaro dojak sajaai ||2||

So control your urges, or else you will be seized by the Lord, and thrown into the tortures of hell. ||2||

ਵਲੀ ਨਿਆਮਤਿ ਬਿਰਾਦਰਾ ਦਰਬਾਰ ਮਿਲਕ ਖਾਨਾਇ ॥

वली निआमति बिरादरा दरबार मिलक खानाइ ॥

Valee niaamati biraadaraa darabaar milak khaanaai ||

Your benefactors, presents, companions, courts, lands and homes

ਜਬ ਅਜਰਾਈਲੁ ਬਸਤਨੀ ਤਬ ਚਿ ਕਾਰੇ ਬਿਦਾਇ ॥੩॥

जब अजराईलु बसतनी तब चि कारे बिदाइ ॥३॥

Jab ajaraaeelu basatanee tab chi kaare bidaai ||3||

- when Azraa-eel, the Messenger of Death seizes you, what good will these be to you then? ||3||

ਹਵਾਲ ਮਾਲੂਮੁ ਕਰਦੰ ਪਾਕ ਅਲਾਹ ॥

हवाल मालूमु करदं पाक अलाह ॥

Havaal maaloomu karadann paak alaah ||

The Pure Lord God knows your condition.

ਬੁਗੋ ਨਾਨਕ ਅਰਦਾਸਿ ਪੇਸਿ ਦਰਵੇਸ ਬੰਦਾਹ ॥੪॥੧॥

बुगो नानक अरदासि पेसि दरवेस बंदाह ॥४॥१॥

Bugo naanak aradaasi pesi daraves banddaah ||4||1||

O Nanak, recite your prayer to the holy people. ||4||1||

Tilang, Second House, Fifth Mehl:

ਤੁਧੁ ਬਿਨੁ ਦੂਜਾ ਨਾਹੀ ਕੋਇ ॥

तुधु बिनु दूजा नाही कोइ ॥

Tudhu binu doojaa naahee koi ||

There is no other than You, Lord.

ਤੂ ਕਰਤਾਰੁ ਕਰਹਿ ਸੋ ਹੋਇ ॥

तू करतारु करहि सो होइ ॥

Too karataaru karahi so hoi ||

You are the Creator; whatever You do, that alone happens.

ਤੇਰਾ ਜੋਰੁ ਤੇਰੀ ਮਨਿ ਟੇਕ ॥

तेरा जोरु तेरी मनि टेक ॥

Teraa joru teree mani tek ||

You are the strength, and You are the support of the mind.

ਸਦਾ ਸਦਾ ਜਪਿ ਨਾਨਕ ਏਕ ॥੧॥

सदा सदा जपि नानक एक ॥१॥

Sadaa sadaa japi naanak ek ||1||

Forever and ever, meditate, O Nanak, on the One. ||1||

ਸਭ ਊਪਰਿ ਪਾਰਬ੍ਰਹਮੁ ਦਾਤਾਰੁ ॥

सभ ऊपरि पारब्रहमु दातारु ॥

Sabh upari paarabrhamu daataaru ||

The Great Giver is the Supreme Lord God over all.

ਤੇਰੀ ਟੇਕ ਤੇਰਾ ਆਧਾਰੁ ॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥

तेरी टेक तेरा आधारु ॥ रहाउ ॥

Teree tek teraa aadhaaru || rahaau ||

You are our support, You are our sustainer. || Pause ||

ਹੈ ਤੂਹੈ ਤੂ ਹੋਵਨਹਾਰ ॥

है तूहै तू होवनहार ॥

Hai toohai too hovanahaar ||

You are, You are, and You shall ever be,

ਅਗਮ ਅਗਾਧਿ ਊਚ ਆਪਾਰ ॥

अगम अगाधि ऊच आपार ॥

Agam agaadhi uch aapaar ||

O inaccessible, unfathomable, lofty and infinite Lord.

ਜੋ ਤੁਧੁ ਸੇਵਹਿ ਤਿਨ ਭਉ ਦੁਖੁ ਨਾਹਿ ॥

जो तुधु सेवहि तिन भउ दुखु नाहि ॥

Jo tudhu sevahi tin bhau dukhu naahi ||

Those who serve You, are not touched by fear or suffering.

ਗੁਰ ਪਰਸਾਦਿ ਨਾਨਕ ਗੁਣ ਗਾਹਿ ॥੨॥

गुर परसादि नानक गुण गाहि ॥२॥

Gur parasaadi naanak gu(nn) gaahi ||2||

By Guru's Grace, O Nanak, sing the Glorious Praises of the Lord. ||2||

ਜੋ ਦੀਸੈ ਸੋ ਤੇਰਾ ਰੂਪੁ ॥

जो दीसै सो तेरा रूपु ॥

Jo deesai so teraa roopu ||

Whatever is seen, is Your form,

ਗੁਣ ਨਿਧਾਨ ਗੋਵਿੰਦ ਅਨੂਪ ॥

गुण निधान गोविंद अनूप ॥

Gu(nn) nidhaan govindd anoop ||

O treasure of virtue, O Lord of the Universe, O Lord of incomparable beauty.

ਸਿਮਰਿ ਸਿਮਰਿ ਸਿਮਰਿ ਜਨ ਸੋਇ ॥

सिमरि सिमरि सिमरि जन सोइ ॥

Simari simari simari jan soi ||

Remembering, remembering, remembering the Lord in meditation, His humble servant becomes like Him.

ਨਾਨਕ ਕਰਮਿ ਪਰਾਪਤਿ ਹੋਇ ॥੩॥

नानक करमि परापति होइ ॥३॥

Naanak karami paraapati hoi ||3||

O Nanak, by His Grace, we obtain Him. ||3||

ਜਿਨਿ ਜਪਿਆ ਤਿਸ ਕਉ ਬਲਿਹਾਰ ॥

जिनि जपिआ तिस कउ बलिहार ॥

Jini japiaa tis kau balihaar ||

I am a sacrifice to those who meditate on the Lord.

ਤਿਸ ਕੈ ਸੰਗਿ ਤਰੈ ਸੰਸਾਰ ॥

तिस कै संगि तरै संसार ॥

Tis kai sanggi tarai sanssaar ||

Associating with them, the whole world is saved.

ਕਹੁ ਨਾਨਕ ਪ੍ਰਭ ਲੋਚਾ ਪੂਰਿ ॥

कहु नानक प्रभ लोचा पूरि ॥

Kahu naanak prbh lochaa poori ||

Says Nanak, God fulfills our hopes and aspirations.

ਸੰਤ ਜਨਾ ਕੀ ਬਾਛਉ ਧੂਰਿ ॥੪॥੨॥

संत जना की बाछउ धूरि ॥४॥२॥

Santt janaa kee baachhau dhoori ||4||2||

I long for the dust of the feet of the Saints. ||4||2||

ਮਿਹਰਵਾਨੁ ਸਾਹਿਬੁ ਮਿਹਰਵਾਨੁ ॥

मिहरवानु साहिबु मिहरवानु ॥

Miharavaanu saahibu miharavaanu ||

Merciful, the Lord Master is Merciful.

ਸਾਹਿਬੁ ਮੇਰਾ ਮਿਹਰਵਾਨੁ ॥

साहिबु मेरा मिहरवानु ॥

Saahibu meraa miharavaanu ||

My Lord Master is Merciful.

ਜੀਅ ਸਗਲ ਕਉ ਦੇਇ ਦਾਨੁ ॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥

जीअ सगल कउ देइ दानु ॥ रहाउ ॥

Jeea sagal kau dei daanu || rahaau ||

He gives His gifts to all beings. || Pause ||

ਤੂ ਕਾਹੇ ਡੋਲਹਿ ਪ੍ਰਾਣੀਆ ਤੁਧੁ ਰਾਖੈਗਾ ਸਿਰਜਣਹਾਰੁ ॥

तू काहे डोलहि प्राणीआ तुधु राखैगा सिरजणहारु ॥

Too kaahe dolahi praa(nn)eeaa tudhu raakhaigaa siraja(nn)ahaaru ||

Why do you waver, O mortal being? The Creator Lord Himself shall protect you.

ਜਿਨਿ ਪੈਦਾਇਸਿ ਤੂ ਕੀਆ ਸੋਈ ਦੇਇ ਆਧਾਰੁ ॥੧॥

जिनि पैदाइसि तू कीआ सोई देइ आधारु ॥१॥

Jini paidaaisi too keeaa soee dei aadhaaru ||1||

He who created you, will also give you nourishment. ||1||

ਜਿਨਿ ਉਪਾਈ ਮੇਦਨੀ ਸੋਈ ਕਰਦਾ ਸਾਰ ॥

जिनि उपाई मेदनी सोई करदा सार ॥

Jini upaaee medanee soee karadaa saar ||

ਘਟਿ ਘਟਿ ਮਾਲਕੁ ਦਿਲਾ ਕਾ ਸਚਾ ਪਰਵਦਗਾਰੁ ॥੨॥

घटि घटि मालकु दिला का सचा परवदगारु ॥२॥

Ghati ghati maalaku dilaa kaa sachaa paravadagaaru ||2||

In each and every heart and mind, the Lord is the True Cherisher. ||2||

ਕੁਦਰਤਿ ਕੀਮ ਨ ਜਾਣੀਐ ਵਡਾ ਵੇਪਰਵਾਹੁ ॥

कुदरति कीम न जाणीऐ वडा वेपरवाहु ॥

Kudarati keem na jaa(nn)eeai vadaa veparavaahu ||

His creative potency and His value cannot be known; He is the Great and carefree Lord.

ਕਰਿ ਬੰਦੇ ਤੂ ਬੰਦਗੀ ਜਿਚਰੁ ਘਟ ਮਹਿ ਸਾਹੁ ॥੩॥

करि बंदे तू बंदगी जिचरु घट महि साहु ॥३॥

Kari bandde too banddagee jicharu ghat mahi saahu ||3||

O human being, meditate on the Lord, as long as there is breath in your body. ||3||

ਤੂ ਸਮਰਥੁ ਅਕਥੁ ਅਗੋਚਰੁ ਜੀਉ ਪਿੰਡੁ ਤੇਰੀ ਰਾਸਿ ॥

तू समरथु अकथु अगोचरु जीउ पिंडु तेरी रासि ॥

Too samarathu akathu agocharu jeeu pinddu teree raasi ||

O God, You are all-powerful, inexpressible and imperceptible; my soul and body are Your capital.

ਰਹਮ ਤੇਰੀ ਸੁਖੁ ਪਾਇਆ ਸਦਾ ਨਾਨਕ ਕੀ ਅਰਦਾਸਿ ॥੪॥੩॥

रहम तेरी सुखु पाइआ सदा नानक की अरदासि ॥४॥३॥

Raham teree sukhu paaiaa sadaa naanak kee aradaasi ||4||3||

By Your Mercy, may I find peace; this is Nanak's lasting prayer. ||4||3||

Tilang, Fifth Mehl, Third House:

ਕਰਤੇ ਕੁਦਰਤੀ ਮੁਸਤਾਕੁ ॥

करते कुदरती मुसताकु ॥

Karate kudaratee musataaku ||

O Creator, through Your creative potency, I am in love with You.

ਦੀਨ ਦੁਨੀਆ ਏਕ ਤੂਹੀ ਸਭ ਖਲਕ ਹੀ ਤੇ ਪਾਕੁ ॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥

दीन दुनीआ एक तूही सभ खलक ही ते पाकु ॥ रहाउ ॥

Deen duneeaa ek toohee sabh khalak hee te paaku || rahaau ||

You alone are my spiritual and temporal Lord; and yet, You are detached from all Your creation. || Pause ||

ਖਿਨ ਮਾਹਿ ਥਾਪਿ ਉਥਾਪਦਾ ਆਚਰਜ ਤੇਰੇ ਰੂਪ ॥

खिन माहि थापि उथापदा आचरज तेरे रूप ॥

Khin maahi thaapi uthaapadaa aacharaj tere roop ||

In an instant, You establish and disestablish. Wondrous is Your form!

ਕਉਣੁ ਜਾਣੈ ਚਲਤ ਤੇਰੇ ਅੰਧਿਆਰੇ ਮਹਿ ਦੀਪ ॥੧॥

कउणु जाणै चलत तेरे अंधिआरे महि दीप ॥१॥

Kau(nn)u jaa(nn)ai chalat tere anddhiaare mahi deep ||1||

Who can know Your play? You are the Light in the darkness. ||1||

ਖੁਦਿ ਖਸਮ ਖਲਕ ਜਹਾਨ ਅਲਹ ਮਿਹਰਵਾਨ ਖੁਦਾਇ ॥

खुदि खसम खलक जहान अलह मिहरवान खुदाइ ॥

Khudi khasam khalak jahaan alah miharavaan khudaai ||

You are the Master of Your creation, the Lord of all the world, O Merciful Lord God.

ਦਿਨਸੁ ਰੈਣਿ ਜਿ ਤੁਧੁ ਅਰਾਧੇ ਸੋ ਕਿਉ ਦੋਜਕਿ ਜਾਇ ॥੨॥

दिनसु रैणि जि तुधु अराधे सो किउ दोजकि जाइ ॥२॥

Dinasu rai(nn)i ji tudhu araadhe so kiu dojaki jaai ||2||

One who worships You day and night - why should he have to go to hell? ||2||

ਅਜਰਾਈਲੁ ਯਾਰੁ ਬੰਦੇ ਜਿਸੁ ਤੇਰਾ ਆਧਾਰੁ ॥

अजराईलु यारु बंदे जिसु तेरा आधारु ॥

Ajaraaeelu yaaru bandde jisu teraa aadhaaru ||

Azraa-eel, the Messenger of Death, is the friend of the human being who has Your support, Lord.

ਗੁਨਹ ਉਸ ਕੇ ਸਗਲ ਆਫੂ ਤੇਰੇ ਜਨ ਦੇਖਹਿ ਦੀਦਾਰੁ ॥੩॥

गुनह उस के सगल आफू तेरे जन देखहि दीदारु ॥३॥

Gunah us ke sagal aaphoo tere jan dekhahi deedaaru ||3||

His sins are all forgiven; Your humble servant gazes upon Your Vision. ||3||

ਦੁਨੀਆ ਚੀਜ ਫਿਲਹਾਲ ਸਗਲੇ ਸਚੁ ਸੁਖੁ ਤੇਰਾ ਨਾਉ ॥

दुनीआ चीज फिलहाल सगले सचु सुखु तेरा नाउ ॥

Duneeaa cheej philahaal sagale sachu sukhu teraa naau ||

All worldly considerations are for the present only. True peace comes only from Your Name.

ਗੁਰ ਮਿਲਿ ਨਾਨਕ ਬੂਝਿਆ ਸਦਾ ਏਕਸੁ ਗਾਉ ॥੪॥੪॥

गुर मिलि नानक बूझिआ सदा एकसु गाउ ॥४॥४॥

Gur mili naanak boojhiaa sadaa ekasu gaau ||4||4||

Meeting the Guru, Nanak understands; He sings only Your Praises forever, O Lord. ||4||4||

Tilang, Fifth Mehl:

ਮੀਰਾਂ ਦਾਨਾਂ ਦਿਲ ਸੋਚ ॥

मीरां दानां दिल सोच ॥

Meeraan daanaan dil soch ||

Think of the Lord in your mind, O wise one.

ਮੁਹਬਤੇ ਮਨਿ ਤਨਿ ਬਸੈ ਸਚੁ ਸਾਹ ਬੰਦੀ ਮੋਚ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥

मुहबते मनि तनि बसै सचु साह बंदी मोच ॥१॥ रहाउ ॥

Muhabate mani tani basai sachu saah banddee moch ||1|| rahaau ||

Enshrine love for the True Lord in your mind and body; He is the Liberator from bondage. ||1|| Pause ||

ਦੀਦਨੇ ਦੀਦਾਰ ਸਾਹਿਬ ਕਛੁ ਨਹੀ ਇਸ ਕਾ ਮੋਲੁ ॥

दीदने दीदार साहिब कछु नही इस का मोलु ॥

Deedane deedaar saahib kachhu nahee is kaa molu ||

The value of seeing the Vision of the Lord Master cannot be estimated.

ਪਾਕ ਪਰਵਦਗਾਰ ਤੂ ਖੁਦਿ ਖਸਮੁ ਵਡਾ ਅਤੋਲੁ ॥੧॥

पाक परवदगार तू खुदि खसमु वडा अतोलु ॥१॥

Paak paravadagaar too khudi khasamu vadaa atolu ||1||

You are the Pure Cherisher; You Yourself are the great and immeasurable Lord and Master. ||1||

ਦਸ੍ਤਗੀਰੀ ਦੇਹਿ ਦਿਲਾਵਰ ਤੂਹੀ ਤੂਹੀ ਏਕ ॥

दस्तगीरी देहि दिलावर तूही तूही एक ॥

Dastgeeree dehi dilaavar toohee toohee ek ||

Give me Your help, O brave and generous Lord; You are the One, You are the Only Lord.

ਕਰਤਾਰ ਕੁਦਰਤਿ ਕਰਣ ਖਾਲਕ ਨਾਨਕ ਤੇਰੀ ਟੇਕ ॥੨॥੫॥

करतार कुदरति करण खालक नानक तेरी टेक ॥२॥५॥

Karataar kudarati kara(nn) khaalak naanak teree tek ||2||5||

O Creator Lord, by Your creative potency, You created the world; Nanak holds tight to Your support. ||2||5||

Ik-oamkkaari satigur prsaadi ||

One Universal Creator God. By The Grace Of The True Guru:

ਜਿਨਿ ਕੀਆ ਤਿਨਿ ਦੇਖਿਆ ਕਿਆ ਕਹੀਐ ਰੇ ਭਾਈ ॥

जिनि कीआ तिनि देखिआ किआ कहीऐ रे भाई ॥

Jini keeaa tini dekhiaa kiaa kaheeai re bhaaee ||

The One who created the world watches over it; what more can we say, O Siblings of Destiny?

ਆਪੇ ਜਾਣੈ ਕਰੇ ਆਪਿ ਜਿਨਿ ਵਾੜੀ ਹੈ ਲਾਈ ॥੧॥

आपे जाणै करे आपि जिनि वाड़ी है लाई ॥१॥

Aape jaa(nn)ai kare aapi jini vaa(rr)ee hai laaee ||1||

He Himself knows, and He Himself acts; He laid out the garden of the world. ||1||

ਰਾਇਸਾ ਪਿਆਰੇ ਕਾ ਰਾਇਸਾ ਜਿਤੁ ਸਦਾ ਸੁਖੁ ਹੋਈ ॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥

राइसा पिआरे का राइसा जितु सदा सुखु होई ॥ रहाउ ॥

Raaisaa piaare kaa raaisaa jitu sadaa sukhu hoee || rahaau ||

Savor the story, the story of the Beloved Lord, which brings a lasting peace. || Pause ||

ਜਿਨਿ ਰੰਗਿ ਕੰਤੁ ਨ ਰਾਵਿਆ ਸਾ ਪਛੋ ਰੇ ਤਾਣੀ ॥

जिनि रंगि कंतु न राविआ सा पछो रे ताणी ॥

Jini ranggi kanttu na raaviaa saa pachho re taa(nn)ee ||

She who does not enjoy the Love of her Husband Lord, shall come to regret and repent in the end.

ਹਾਥ ਪਛੋੜੈ ਸਿਰੁ ਧੁਣੈ ਜਬ ਰੈਣਿ ਵਿਹਾਣੀ ॥੨॥

हाथ पछोड़ै सिरु धुणै जब रैणि विहाणी ॥२॥

Haath pachho(rr)ai siru dhu(nn)ai jab rai(nn)i vihaa(nn)ee ||2||

She wrings her hands, and bangs her head, when the night of her life has passed away. ||2||

ਪਛੋਤਾਵਾ ਨਾ ਮਿਲੈ ਜਬ ਚੂਕੈਗੀ ਸਾਰੀ ॥

पछोतावा ना मिलै जब चूकैगी सारी ॥

Pachhotaavaa naa milai jab chookaigee saaree ||

Nothing comes from repentance, when the game is already finished.

ਤਾ ਫਿਰਿ ਪਿਆਰਾ ਰਾਵੀਐ ਜਬ ਆਵੈਗੀ ਵਾਰੀ ॥੩॥

ता फिरि पिआरा रावीऐ जब आवैगी वारी ॥३॥

Taa phiri piaaraa raaveeai jab aavaigee vaaree ||3||

She shall have the opportunity to enjoy her Beloved, only when her turn comes again. ||3||

ਕੰਤੁ ਲੀਆ ਸੋਹਾਗਣੀ ਮੈ ਤੇ ਵਧਵੀ ਏਹ ॥

कंतु लीआ सोहागणी मै ते वधवी एह ॥

Kanttu leeaa sohaaga(nn)ee mai te vadhavee eh ||

The happy soul-bride attains her Husband Lord - she is so much better than I am.

ਸੇ ਗੁਣ ਮੁਝੈ ਨ ਆਵਨੀ ਕੈ ਜੀ ਦੋਸੁ ਧਰੇਹ ॥੪॥

से गुण मुझै न आवनी कै जी दोसु धरेह ॥४॥

Se gu(nn) mujhai na aavanee kai jee dosu dhareh ||4||

I have none of her merits or virtues; whom should I blame? ||4||

ਜਿਨੀ ਸਖੀ ਸਹੁ ਰਾਵਿਆ ਤਿਨ ਪੂਛਉਗੀ ਜਾਏ ॥

जिनी सखी सहु राविआ तिन पूछउगी जाए ॥

Jinee sakhee sahu raaviaa tin poochhaugee jaae ||

I shall go and ask those sisters who have enjoyed their Husband Lord.

ਪਾਇ ਲਗਉ ਬੇਨਤੀ ਕਰਉ ਲੇਉਗੀ ਪੰਥੁ ਬਤਾਏ ॥੫॥

पाइ लगउ बेनती करउ लेउगी पंथु बताए ॥५॥

Paai lagau benatee karau leugee pantthu bataae ||5||

I touch their feet, and ask them to show me the Path. ||5||

ਹੁਕਮੁ ਪਛਾਣੈ ਨਾਨਕਾ ਭਉ ਚੰਦਨੁ ਲਾਵੈ ॥

हुकमु पछाणै नानका भउ चंदनु लावै ॥

Hukamu pachhaa(nn)ai naanakaa bhau chanddanu laavai ||

She who understands the Hukam of His Command, O Nanak, applies the Fear of God as her sandalwood oil;

ਗੁਣ ਕਾਮਣ ਕਾਮਣਿ ਕਰੈ ਤਉ ਪਿਆਰੇ ਕਉ ਪਾਵੈ ॥੬॥

गुण कामण कामणि करै तउ पिआरे कउ पावै ॥६॥

Gu(nn) kaama(nn) kaama(nn)i karai tau piaare kau paavai ||6||

She charms her Beloved with her virtue, and so obtains Him. ||6||

ਜੋ ਦਿਲਿ ਮਿਲਿਆ ਸੁ ਮਿਲਿ ਰਹਿਆ ਮਿਲਿਆ ਕਹੀਐ ਰੇ ਸੋਈ ॥

जो दिलि मिलिआ सु मिलि रहिआ मिलिआ कहीऐ रे सोई ॥

Jo dili miliaa su mili rahiaa miliaa kaheeai re soee ||

She who meets her Beloved in her heart, remains united with Him; this is truly called union.

ਜੇ ਬਹੁਤੇਰਾ ਲੋਚੀਐ ਬਾਤੀ ਮੇਲੁ ਨ ਹੋਈ ॥੭॥

जे बहुतेरा लोचीऐ बाती मेलु न होई ॥७॥

Je bahuteraa locheeai baatee melu na hoee ||7||

As much as she may long for Him, she shall not meet Him through mere words. ||7||

ਧਾਤੁ ਮਿਲੈ ਫੁਨਿ ਧਾਤੁ ਕਉ ਲਿਵ ਲਿਵੈ ਕਉ ਧਾਵੈ ॥

धातु मिलै फुनि धातु कउ लिव लिवै कउ धावै ॥

Dhaatu milai phuni dhaatu kau liv livai kau dhaavai ||

As metal melts into metal again, so does love melt into love.

ਗੁਰ ਪਰਸਾਦੀ ਜਾਣੀਐ ਤਉ ਅਨਭਉ ਪਾਵੈ ॥੮॥

गुर परसादी जाणीऐ तउ अनभउ पावै ॥८॥

Gur parasaadee jaa(nn)eeai tau anabhau paavai ||8||

By Guru's Grace, this understanding is obtained, and then, one obtains the Fearless Lord. ||8||

ਪਾਨਾ ਵਾੜੀ ਹੋਇ ਘਰਿ ਖਰੁ ਸਾਰ ਨ ਜਾਣੈ ॥

पाना वाड़ी होइ घरि खरु सार न जाणै ॥

Paanaa vaa(rr)ee hoi ghari kharu saar na jaa(nn)ai ||

There may be an orchard of betel nut trees in the garden, but the donkey does not appreciate its value.

ਰਸੀਆ ਹੋਵੈ ਮੁਸਕ ਕਾ ਤਬ ਫੂਲੁ ਪਛਾਣੈ ॥੯॥

रसीआ होवै मुसक का तब फूलु पछाणै ॥९॥

Raseeaa hovai musak kaa tab phoolu pachhaa(nn)ai ||9||

If someone savors a fragrance, then he can truly appreciate its flower. ||9||

ਅਪਿਉ ਪੀਵੈ ਜੋ ਨਾਨਕਾ ਭ੍ਰਮੁ ਭ੍ਰਮਿ ਸਮਾਵੈ ॥

अपिउ पीवै जो नानका भ्रमु भ्रमि समावै ॥

Apiu peevai jo naanakaa bhrmu bhrmi samaavai ||

One who drinks in the ambrosia, O Nanak, abandons his doubts and wanderings.

ਸਹਜੇ ਸਹਜੇ ਮਿਲਿ ਰਹੈ ਅਮਰਾ ਪਦੁ ਪਾਵੈ ॥੧੦॥੧॥

सहजे सहजे मिलि रहै अमरा पदु पावै ॥१०॥१॥

Sahaje sahaje mili rahai amaraa padu paavai ||10||1||

Easily and intuitively, he remains blended with the Lord, and obtains the immortal status. ||10||1||

Tilang, Fourth Mehl:

ਹਰਿ ਕੀਆ ਕਥਾ ਕਹਾਣੀਆ ਗੁਰਿ ਮੀਤਿ ਸੁਣਾਈਆ ॥

हरि कीआ कथा कहाणीआ गुरि मीति सुणाईआ ॥

Hari keeaa kathaa kahaa(nn)eeaa guri meeti su(nn)aaeeaa ||

The Guru, my friend, has told me the stories and the sermon of the Lord.

ਬਲਿਹਾਰੀ ਗੁਰ ਆਪਣੇ ਗੁਰ ਕਉ ਬਲਿ ਜਾਈਆ ॥੧॥

बलिहारी गुर आपणे गुर कउ बलि जाईआ ॥१॥

Balihaaree gur aapa(nn)e gur kau bali jaaeeaa ||1||

I am a sacrifice to my Guru; to the Guru, I am a sacrifice. ||1||

ਆਇ ਮਿਲੁ ਗੁਰਸਿਖ ਆਇ ਮਿਲੁ ਤੂ ਮੇਰੇ ਗੁਰੂ ਕੇ ਪਿਆਰੇ ॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥

आइ मिलु गुरसिख आइ मिलु तू मेरे गुरू के पिआरे ॥ रहाउ ॥

Aai milu gurasikh aai milu too mere guroo ke piaare || rahaau ||

Come, join with me, O Sikh of the Guru, come and join with me. You are my Guru's Beloved. || Pause ||

ਹਰਿ ਕੇ ਗੁਣ ਹਰਿ ਭਾਵਦੇ ਸੇ ਗੁਰੂ ਤੇ ਪਾਏ ॥

हरि के गुण हरि भावदे से गुरू ते पाए ॥

Hari ke gu(nn) hari bhaavade se guroo te paae ||

The Glorious Praises of the Lord are pleasing to the Lord; I have obtained them from the Guru.

ਜਿਨ ਗੁਰ ਕਾ ਭਾਣਾ ਮੰਨਿਆ ਤਿਨ ਘੁਮਿ ਘੁਮਿ ਜਾਏ ॥੨॥

जिन गुर का भाणा मंनिआ तिन घुमि घुमि जाए ॥२॥

Jin gur kaa bhaa(nn)aa manniaa tin ghumi ghumi jaae ||2||

I am a sacrifice, a sacrifice to those who surrender to, and obey the Guru's Will. ||2||

ਜਿਨ ਸਤਿਗੁਰੁ ਪਿਆਰਾ ਦੇਖਿਆ ਤਿਨ ਕਉ ਹਉ ਵਾਰੀ ॥

जिन सतिगुरु पिआरा देखिआ तिन कउ हउ वारी ॥

Jin satiguru piaaraa dekhiaa tin kau hau vaaree ||

I am dedicated and devoted to those who gaze upon the Beloved True Guru.

ਜਿਨ ਗੁਰ ਕੀ ਕੀਤੀ ਚਾਕਰੀ ਤਿਨ ਸਦ ਬਲਿਹਾਰੀ ॥੩॥

जिन गुर की कीती चाकरी तिन सद बलिहारी ॥३॥

Jin gur kee keetee chaakaree tin sad balihaaree ||3||

I am forever a sacrifice to those who perform service for the Guru. ||3||

ਹਰਿ ਹਰਿ ਤੇਰਾ ਨਾਮੁ ਹੈ ਦੁਖ ਮੇਟਣਹਾਰਾ ॥

हरि हरि तेरा नामु है दुख मेटणहारा ॥

Hari hari teraa naamu hai dukh meta(nn)ahaaraa ||

Your Name, O Lord, Har, Har, is the Destroyer of sorrow.

ਗੁਰ ਸੇਵਾ ਤੇ ਪਾਈਐ ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿ ਨਿਸਤਾਰਾ ॥੪॥

गुर सेवा ते पाईऐ गुरमुखि निसतारा ॥४॥

Gur sevaa te paaeeai guramukhi nisataaraa ||4||

Serving the Guru, it is obtained, and as Gurmukh, one is emancipated. ||4||

ਜੋ ਹਰਿ ਨਾਮੁ ਧਿਆਇਦੇ ਤੇ ਜਨ ਪਰਵਾਨਾ ॥

जो हरि नामु धिआइदे ते जन परवाना ॥

Jo hari naamu dhiaaide te jan paravaanaa ||

Those humble beings who meditate on the Lord's Name, are celebrated and acclaimed.

ਤਿਨ ਵਿਟਹੁ ਨਾਨਕੁ ਵਾਰਿਆ ਸਦਾ ਸਦਾ ਕੁਰਬਾਨਾ ॥੫॥

तिन विटहु नानकु वारिआ सदा सदा कुरबाना ॥५॥

Tin vitahu naanaku vaariaa sadaa sadaa kurabaanaa ||5||

Nanak is a sacrifice to them, forever and ever a devoted sacrifice. ||5||

ਸਾ ਹਰਿ ਤੇਰੀ ਉਸਤਤਿ ਹੈ ਜੋ ਹਰਿ ਪ੍ਰਭ ਭਾਵੈ ॥

सा हरि तेरी उसतति है जो हरि प्रभ भावै ॥

Saa hari teree usatati hai jo hari prbh bhaavai ||

O Lord, that alone is Praise to You, which is pleasing to Your Will, O Lord God.

ਜੋ ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿ ਪਿਆਰਾ ਸੇਵਦੇ ਤਿਨ ਹਰਿ ਫਲੁ ਪਾਵੈ ॥੬॥

जो गुरमुखि पिआरा सेवदे तिन हरि फलु पावै ॥६॥

Jo guramukhi piaaraa sevade tin hari phalu paavai ||6||

Those Gurmukhs, who serve their Beloved Lord, obtain Him as their reward. ||6||

ਜਿਨਾ ਹਰਿ ਸੇਤੀ ਪਿਰਹੜੀ ਤਿਨਾ ਜੀਅ ਪ੍ਰਭ ਨਾਲੇ ॥

जिना हरि सेती पिरहड़ी तिना जीअ प्रभ नाले ॥

Jinaa hari setee piraha(rr)ee tinaa jeea prbh naale ||

Those who cherish love for the Lord, their souls are always with God.

ਓਇ ਜਪਿ ਜਪਿ ਪਿਆਰਾ ਜੀਵਦੇ ਹਰਿ ਨਾਮੁ ਸਮਾਲੇ ॥੭॥

ओइ जपि जपि पिआरा जीवदे हरि नामु समाले ॥७॥

Oi japi japi piaaraa jeevade hari naamu samaale ||7||

Chanting and meditating on their Beloved, they live in, and gather in, the Lord's Name. ||7||

ਜਿਨ ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿ ਪਿਆਰਾ ਸੇਵਿਆ ਤਿਨ ਕਉ ਘੁਮਿ ਜਾਇਆ ॥

जिन गुरमुखि पिआरा सेविआ तिन कउ घुमि जाइआ ॥

Jin guramukhi piaaraa seviaa tin kau ghumi jaaiaa ||

I am a sacrifice to those Gurmukhs who serve their Beloved Lord.

ਓਇ ਆਪਿ ਛੁਟੇ ਪਰਵਾਰ ਸਿਉ ਸਭੁ ਜਗਤੁ ਛਡਾਇਆ ॥੮॥

ओइ आपि छुटे परवार सिउ सभु जगतु छडाइआ ॥८॥

Oi aapi chhute paravaar siu sabhu jagatu chhadaaiaa ||8||

They themselves are saved, along with their families, and through them, all the world is saved. ||8||

ਗੁਰਿ ਪਿਆਰੈ ਹਰਿ ਸੇਵਿਆ ਗੁਰੁ ਧੰਨੁ ਗੁਰੁ ਧੰਨੋ ॥

गुरि पिआरै हरि सेविआ गुरु धंनु गुरु धंनो ॥

Guri piaarai hari seviaa guru dhannu guru dhanno ||

My Beloved Guru serves the Lord. Blessed is the Guru, Blessed is the Guru.

ਗੁਰਿ ਹਰਿ ਮਾਰਗੁ ਦਸਿਆ ਗੁਰ ਪੁੰਨੁ ਵਡ ਪੁੰਨੋ ॥੯॥

गुरि हरि मारगु दसिआ गुर पुंनु वड पुंनो ॥९॥

Guri hari maaragu dasiaa gur punnu vad punno ||9||

The Guru has shown me the Lord's Path; the Guru has done the greatest good deed. ||9||

ਜੋ ਗੁਰਸਿਖ ਗੁਰੁ ਸੇਵਦੇ ਸੇ ਪੁੰਨ ਪਰਾਣੀ ॥

जो गुरसिख गुरु सेवदे से पुंन पराणी ॥

Jo gurasikh guru sevade se punn paraa(nn)ee ||

Those Sikhs of the Guru, who serve the Guru, are the most blessed beings.

ਜਨੁ ਨਾਨਕੁ ਤਿਨ ਕਉ ਵਾਰਿਆ ਸਦਾ ਸਦਾ ਕੁਰਬਾਣੀ ॥੧੦॥

जनु नानकु तिन कउ वारिआ सदा सदा कुरबाणी ॥१०॥

Janu naanaku tin kau vaariaa sadaa sadaa kurabaa(nn)ee ||10||

Servant Nanak is a sacrifice to them; He is forever and ever a sacrifice. ||10||

ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿ ਸਖੀ ਸਹੇਲੀਆ ਸੇ ਆਪਿ ਹਰਿ ਭਾਈਆ ॥

गुरमुखि सखी सहेलीआ से आपि हरि भाईआ ॥

Guramukhi sakhee saheleeaa se aapi hari bhaaeeaa ||

The Lord Himself is pleased with the Gurmukhs, the fellowship of the companions.

ਹਰਿ ਦਰਗਹ ਪੈਨਾਈਆ ਹਰਿ ਆਪਿ ਗਲਿ ਲਾਈਆ ॥੧੧॥

हरि दरगह पैनाईआ हरि आपि गलि लाईआ ॥११॥

Hari daragah painaaeeaa hari aapi gali laaeeaa ||11||

In the Lord's Court, they are given robes of honor, and the Lord Himself hugs them close in His embrace. ||11||

ਜੋ ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿ ਨਾਮੁ ਧਿਆਇਦੇ ਤਿਨ ਦਰਸਨੁ ਦੀਜੈ ॥

जो गुरमुखि नामु धिआइदे तिन दरसनु दीजै ॥

Jo guramukhi naamu dhiaaide tin darasanu deejai ||

Please bless me with the Blessed Vision of the Darshan of those Gurmukhs, who meditate on the Naam, the Name of the Lord.

ਹਮ ਤਿਨ ਕੇ ਚਰਣ ਪਖਾਲਦੇ ਧੂੜਿ ਘੋਲਿ ਘੋਲਿ ਪੀਜੈ ॥੧੨॥

हम तिन के चरण पखालदे धूड़ि घोलि घोलि पीजै ॥१२॥

Ham tin ke chara(nn) pakhaalade dhoo(rr)i gholi gholi peejai ||12||

I wash their feet, and drink in the dust of their feet, dissolved in the wash water. ||12||

ਪਾਨ ਸੁਪਾਰੀ ਖਾਤੀਆ ਮੁਖਿ ਬੀੜੀਆ ਲਾਈਆ ॥

पान सुपारी खातीआ मुखि बीड़ीआ लाईआ ॥

Paan supaaree khaateeaa mukhi bee(rr)eeaa laaeeaa ||

Those who eat betel nuts and betel leaf and smoke crude cigarette,

ਹਰਿ ਹਰਿ ਕਦੇ ਨ ਚੇਤਿਓ ਜਮਿ ਪਕੜਿ ਚਲਾਈਆ ॥੧੩॥

हरि हरि कदे न चेतिओ जमि पकड़ि चलाईआ ॥१३॥

Hari hari kade na chetio jami paka(rr)i chalaaeeaa ||13||

But do not contemplate the Lord, Har, Har - the Messenger of Death will seize them and take them away. ||13||

ਜਿਨ ਹਰਿ ਨਾਮਾ ਹਰਿ ਚੇਤਿਆ ਹਿਰਦੈ ਉਰਿ ਧਾਰੇ ॥

जिन हरि नामा हरि चेतिआ हिरदै उरि धारे ॥

Jin hari naamaa hari chetiaa hiradai uri dhaare ||

Ones who contemplate on the Name of the Lord, Har, Har, and keep Him enshrined in their hearts,

ਤਿਨ ਜਮੁ ਨੇੜਿ ਨ ਆਵਈ ਗੁਰਸਿਖ ਗੁਰ ਪਿਆਰੇ ॥੧੪॥

तिन जमु नेड़ि न आवई गुरसिख गुर पिआरे ॥१४॥

Tin jamu ne(rr)i na aavaee gurasikh gur piaare ||14||

the Messenger of Death does not even approach them; O, the Guru's Sikhs are the Guru's Beloveds! ||14||

ਹਰਿ ਕਾ ਨਾਮੁ ਨਿਧਾਨੁ ਹੈ ਕੋਈ ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿ ਜਾਣੈ ॥

हरि का नामु निधानु है कोई गुरमुखि जाणै ॥

Hari kaa naamu nidhaanu hai koee guramukhi jaa(nn)ai ||

The Name of the Lord is a treasure, known only to the few Gurmukhs.

ਨਾਨਕ ਜਿਨ ਸਤਿਗੁਰੁ ਭੇਟਿਆ ਰੰਗਿ ਰਲੀਆ ਮਾਣੈ ॥੧੫॥

नानक जिन सतिगुरु भेटिआ रंगि रलीआ माणै ॥१५॥

Naanak jin satiguru bhetiaa ranggi raleeaa maa(nn)ai ||15||

O Nanak, those who meet with the True Guru, enjoy peace and pleasure. ||15||

ਸਤਿਗੁਰੁ ਦਾਤਾ ਆਖੀਐ ਤੁਸਿ ਕਰੇ ਪਸਾਓ ॥

सतिगुरु दाता आखीऐ तुसि करे पसाओ ॥

Satiguru daataa aakheeai tusi kare pasaao ||

The True Guru is called the Giver; in His Mercy, He grants His Grace.

ਹਉ ਗੁਰ ਵਿਟਹੁ ਸਦ ਵਾਰਿਆ ਜਿਨਿ ਦਿਤੜਾ ਨਾਓ ॥੧੬॥

हउ गुर विटहु सद वारिआ जिनि दितड़ा नाओ ॥१६॥

Hau gur vitahu sad vaariaa jini dita(rr)aa naao ||16||

I am forever a sacrifice to the Guru, who has blessed me with the Lord's Name. ||16||

ਸੋ ਧੰਨੁ ਗੁਰੂ ਸਾਬਾਸਿ ਹੈ ਹਰਿ ਦੇਇ ਸਨੇਹਾ ॥

सो धंनु गुरू साबासि है हरि देइ सनेहा ॥

So dhannu guroo saabaasi hai hari dei sanehaa ||

Blessed, very blessed is the Guru, who brings the Lord's message.

ਹਉ ਵੇਖਿ ਵੇਖਿ ਗੁਰੂ ਵਿਗਸਿਆ ਗੁਰ ਸਤਿਗੁਰ ਦੇਹਾ ॥੧੭॥

हउ वेखि वेखि गुरू विगसिआ गुर सतिगुर देहा ॥१७॥

Hau vekhi vekhi guroo vigasiaa gur satigur dehaa ||17||

I gaze upon the Guru, the Guru, the True Guru embodied, and I blossom forth in bliss. ||17||

ਗੁਰ ਰਸਨਾ ਅੰਮ੍ਰਿਤੁ ਬੋਲਦੀ ਹਰਿ ਨਾਮਿ ਸੁਹਾਵੀ ॥

गुर रसना अम्रितु बोलदी हरि नामि सुहावी ॥

Gur rasanaa ammmritu boladee hari naami suhaavee ||

The Guru's tongue recites Words of Ambrosial Nectar; He is adorned with the Lord's Name.

ਜਿਨ ਸੁਣਿ ਸਿਖਾ ਗੁਰੁ ਮੰਨਿਆ ਤਿਨਾ ਭੁਖ ਸਭ ਜਾਵੀ ॥੧੮॥

जिन सुणि सिखा गुरु मंनिआ तिना भुख सभ जावी ॥१८॥

Jin su(nn)i sikhaa guru manniaa tinaa bhukh sabh jaavee ||18||

Those Sikhs who hear and obey the Guru - all their desires depart. ||18||

ਹਰਿ ਕਾ ਮਾਰਗੁ ਆਖੀਐ ਕਹੁ ਕਿਤੁ ਬਿਧਿ ਜਾਈਐ ॥

हरि का मारगु आखीऐ कहु कितु बिधि जाईऐ ॥

Hari kaa maaragu aakheeai kahu kitu bidhi jaaeeai ||

Some speak of the Lord's Path; tell me, how can I walk on it?

ਹਰਿ ਹਰਿ ਤੇਰਾ ਨਾਮੁ ਹੈ ਹਰਿ ਖਰਚੁ ਲੈ ਜਾਈਐ ॥੧੯॥

हरि हरि तेरा नामु है हरि खरचु लै जाईऐ ॥१९॥

Hari hari teraa naamu hai hari kharachu lai jaaeeai ||19||

O Lord, Har, Har, Your Name is my supplies; I will take it with me and set out. ||19||

ਜਿਨ ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿ ਹਰਿ ਆਰਾਧਿਆ ਸੇ ਸਾਹ ਵਡ ਦਾਣੇ ॥

जिन गुरमुखि हरि आराधिआ से साह वड दाणे ॥

Jin guramukhi hari aaraadhiaa se saah vad daa(nn)e ||

Those Gurmukhs who worship and adore the Lord, are wealthy and very wise.

ਹਉ ਸਤਿਗੁਰ ਕਉ ਸਦ ਵਾਰਿਆ ਗੁਰ ਬਚਨਿ ਸਮਾਣੇ ॥੨੦॥

हउ सतिगुर कउ सद वारिआ गुर बचनि समाणे ॥२०॥

Hau satigur kau sad vaariaa gur bachani samaa(nn)e ||20||

I am forever a sacrifice to the True Guru; I am absorbed in the Words of the Guru's Teachings. ||20||

ਤੂ ਠਾਕੁਰੁ ਤੂ ਸਾਹਿਬੋ ਤੂਹੈ ਮੇਰਾ ਮੀਰਾ ॥

तू ठाकुरु तू साहिबो तूहै मेरा मीरा ॥

Too thaakuru too saahibo toohai meraa meeraa ||

You are the Master, my Lord and Master; You are my Ruler and King.

ਤੁਧੁ ਭਾਵੈ ਤੇਰੀ ਬੰਦਗੀ ਤੂ ਗੁਣੀ ਗਹੀਰਾ ॥੨੧॥

तुधु भावै तेरी बंदगी तू गुणी गहीरा ॥२१॥

Tudhu bhaavai teree banddagee too gu(nn)ee gaheeraa ||21||

If it is pleasing to Your Will, then I worship and serve You; You are the treasure of virtue. ||21||

ਆਪੇ ਹਰਿ ਇਕ ਰੰਗੁ ਹੈ ਆਪੇ ਬਹੁ ਰੰਗੀ ॥

आपे हरि इक रंगु है आपे बहु रंगी ॥

Aape hari ik ranggu hai aape bahu ranggee ||

The Lord Himself is absolute; He is The One and Only; but He Himself is also manifested in many forms.

ਜੋ ਤਿਸੁ ਭਾਵੈ ਨਾਨਕਾ ਸਾਈ ਗਲ ਚੰਗੀ ॥੨੨॥੨॥

जो तिसु भावै नानका साई गल चंगी ॥२२॥२॥

Jo tisu bhaavai naanakaa saaee gal changgee ||22||2||

Whatever pleases Him, O Nanak, that alone is good. ||22||2||

Tilang, Ninth Mehl:

ਜਾਗ ਲੇਹੁ ਰੇ ਮਨਾ ਜਾਗ ਲੇਹੁ ਕਹਾ ਗਾਫਲ ਸੋਇਆ ॥

जाग लेहु रे मना जाग लेहु कहा गाफल सोइआ ॥

Jaag lehu re manaa jaag lehu kahaa gaaphal soiaa ||

Wake up, O mind! Wake up! Why are you sleeping unaware?

ਜੋ ਤਨੁ ਉਪਜਿਆ ਸੰਗ ਹੀ ਸੋ ਭੀ ਸੰਗਿ ਨ ਹੋਇਆ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥

जो तनु उपजिआ संग ही सो भी संगि न होइआ ॥१॥ रहाउ ॥

Jo tanu upajiaa sangg hee so bhee sanggi na hoiaa ||1|| rahaau ||

That body, which you were born with, shall not go along with you in the end. ||1|| Pause ||

ਮਾਤ ਪਿਤਾ ਸੁਤ ਬੰਧ ਜਨ ਹਿਤੁ ਜਾ ਸਿਉ ਕੀਨਾ ॥

मात पिता सुत बंध जन हितु जा सिउ कीना ॥

Maat pitaa sut banddh jan hitu jaa siu keenaa ||

Mother, father, children and relatives whom you love,

ਜੀਉ ਛੂਟਿਓ ਜਬ ਦੇਹ ਤੇ ਡਾਰਿ ਅਗਨਿ ਮੈ ਦੀਨਾ ॥੧॥

जीउ छूटिओ जब देह ते डारि अगनि मै दीना ॥१॥

Jeeu chhootio jab deh te daari agani mai deenaa ||1||

Will throw your body into the fire, when your soul departs from it. ||1||

ਜੀਵਤ ਲਉ ਬਿਉਹਾਰੁ ਹੈ ਜਗ ਕਉ ਤੁਮ ਜਾਨਉ ॥

जीवत लउ बिउहारु है जग कउ तुम जानउ ॥

Jeevat lau biuhaaru hai jag kau tum jaanau ||

Your worldly affairs exist only as long as you are alive; know this well.

ਨਾਨਕ ਹਰਿ ਗੁਨ ਗਾਇ ਲੈ ਸਭ ਸੁਫਨ ਸਮਾਨਉ ॥੨॥੨॥

नानक हरि गुन गाइ लै सभ सुफन समानउ ॥२॥२॥

Naanak hari gun gaai lai sabh suphan samaanau ||2||2||

O Nanak, sing the Glorious Praises of the Lord; everything is like a dream. ||2||2||

Tilangg mahalaa 9 ||

Tilang, Ninth Mehl:

ਹਰਿ ਜਸੁ ਰੇ ਮਨਾ ਗਾਇ ਲੈ ਜੋ ਸੰਗੀ ਹੈ ਤੇਰੋ ॥

हरि जसु रे मना गाइ लै जो संगी है तेरो ॥

Hari jasu re manaa gaai lai jo sanggee hai tero ||

Sing the Lord's Praises, O mind; He is your only true companion.

ਅਉਸਰੁ ਬੀਤਿਓ ਜਾਤੁ ਹੈ ਕਹਿਓ ਮਾਨ ਲੈ ਮੇਰੋ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥

अउसरु बीतिओ जातु है कहिओ मान लै मेरो ॥१॥ रहाउ ॥

Ausaru beetio jaatu hai kahio maan lai mero ||1|| rahaau ||

Your time is passing away; listen carefully to what I say. ||1|| Pause ||

ਸੰਪਤਿ ਰਥ ਧਨ ਰਾਜ ਸਿਉ ਅਤਿ ਨੇਹੁ ਲਗਾਇਓ ॥

स्मपति रथ धन राज सिउ अति नेहु लगाइओ ॥

Samppati rath dhan raaj siu ati nehu lagaaio ||

You are so in love with property, chariots, wealth and power.

ਕਾਲ ਫਾਸ ਜਬ ਗਲਿ ਪਰੀ ਸਭ ਭਇਓ ਪਰਾਇਓ ॥੧॥

काल फास जब गलि परी सभ भइओ पराइओ ॥१॥

Kaal phaas jab gali paree sabh bhaio paraaio ||1||

When the noose of death tightens around your neck, they will all belong to others. ||1||

ਜਾਨਿ ਬੂਝ ਕੈ ਬਾਵਰੇ ਤੈ ਕਾਜੁ ਬਿਗਾਰਿਓ ॥

जानि बूझ कै बावरे तै काजु बिगारिओ ॥

Jaani boojh kai baavare tai kaaju bigaario ||

Know this well, O madman - you have ruined your affairs.

ਪਾਪ ਕਰਤ ਸੁਕਚਿਓ ਨਹੀ ਨਹ ਗਰਬੁ ਨਿਵਾਰਿਓ ॥੨॥

पाप करत सुकचिओ नही नह गरबु निवारिओ ॥२॥

Paap karat sukachio nahee nah garabu nivaario ||2||

You did not restrain yourself from committing sins, and you did not eradicate your ego. ||2||

ਜਿਹ ਬਿਧਿ ਗੁਰ ਉਪਦੇਸਿਆ ਸੋ ਸੁਨੁ ਰੇ ਭਾਈ ॥

जिह बिधि गुर उपदेसिआ सो सुनु रे भाई ॥

Jih bidhi gur upadesiaa so sunu re bhaaee ||

So listen to the Teachings imparted by the Guru, O Siblings of Destiny.

ਨਾਨਕ ਕਹਤ ਪੁਕਾਰਿ ਕੈ ਗਹੁ ਪ੍ਰਭ ਸਰਨਾਈ ॥੩॥੩॥

नानक कहत पुकारि कै गहु प्रभ सरनाई ॥३॥३॥

Naanak kahat pukaari kai gahu prbh saranaaee ||3||3||

Nanak proclaims: hold tight to the Protection and the Sanctuary of God. ||3||3||

ਤਿਲੰਗ ਬਾਣੀ ਭਗਤਾ ਕੀ ਕਬੀਰ ਜੀ

तिलंग बाणी भगता की कबीर जी

Tilangg baa(nn)ee bhagataa kee kabeer jee

Tilang, The Word Of Devotee Kabeer Jee:

ੴ ਸਤਿਗੁਰ ਪ੍ਰਸਾਦਿ ॥

ੴ सतिगुर प्रसादि ॥

Ik-oamkkaari satigur prsaadi ||

One Universal Creator God. By The Grace Of The True Guru:

ਬੇਦ ਕਤੇਬ ਇਫਤਰਾ ਭਾਈ ਦਿਲ ਕਾ ਫਿਕਰੁ ਨ ਜਾਇ ॥

बेद कतेब इफतरा भाई दिल का फिकरु न जाइ ॥

Bed kateb iphataraa bhaaee dil kaa phikaru na jaai ||

The Vedas and the Scriptures are only make-believe, O Siblings of Destiny; they do not relieve the anxiety of the heart.

ਟੁਕੁ ਦਮੁ ਕਰਾਰੀ ਜਉ ਕਰਹੁ ਹਾਜਿਰ ਹਜੂਰਿ ਖੁਦਾਇ ॥੧॥

टुकु दमु करारी जउ करहु हाजिर हजूरि खुदाइ ॥१॥

Tuku damu karaaree jau karahu haajir hajoori khudaai ||1||

If you will only center yourself on the Lord, even for just a breath, then you shall see the Lord face-to-face, present before you. ||1||

ਬੰਦੇ ਖੋਜੁ ਦਿਲ ਹਰ ਰੋਜ ਨਾ ਫਿਰੁ ਪਰੇਸਾਨੀ ਮਾਹਿ ॥

बंदे खोजु दिल हर रोज ना फिरु परेसानी माहि ॥

Bandde khoju dil har roj naa phiru paresaanee maahi ||

O human being, search your own heart every day, and do not wander around in confusion.

ਇਹ ਜੁ ਦੁਨੀਆ ਸਿਹਰੁ ਮੇਲਾ ਦਸਤਗੀਰੀ ਨਾਹਿ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥

इह जु दुनीआ सिहरु मेला दसतगीरी नाहि ॥१॥ रहाउ ॥

Ih ju duneeaa siharu melaa dasatageeree naahi ||1|| rahaau ||

This world is just a magic-show; no one will be holding your hand. ||1|| Pause ||

ਦਰੋਗੁ ਪੜਿ ਪੜਿ ਖੁਸੀ ਹੋਇ ਬੇਖਬਰ ਬਾਦੁ ਬਕਾਹਿ ॥

दरोगु पड़ि पड़ि खुसी होइ बेखबर बादु बकाहि ॥

Darogu pa(rr)i pa(rr)i khusee hoi bekhabar baadu bakaahi ||

Reading and studying falsehood, people are happy; in their ignorance, they speak nonsense.

ਹਕੁ ਸਚੁ ਖਾਲਕੁ ਖਲਕ ਮਿਆਨੇ ਸਿਆਮ ਮੂਰਤਿ ਨਾਹਿ ॥੨॥

हकु सचु खालकु खलक मिआने सिआम मूरति नाहि ॥२॥

Haku sachu khaalaku khalak miaane siaam moorati naahi ||2||

The True Creator Lord is diffused into His creation; He is not just the dark-skinned Krishna of legends. ||2||

ਅਸਮਾਨ ਮਿ੍ਯਾਨੇ ਲਹੰਗ ਦਰੀਆ ਗੁਸਲ ਕਰਦਨ ਬੂਦ ॥

असमान म्यिाने लहंग दरीआ गुसल करदन बूद ॥

Asamaan myiaane lahangg dareeaa gusal karadan bood ||

Through the Tenth Gate, the stream of nectar flows; take your bath in this.

ਕਰਿ ਫਕਰੁ ਦਾਇਮ ਲਾਇ ਚਸਮੇ ਜਹ ਤਹਾ ਮਉਜੂਦੁ ॥੩॥

करि फकरु दाइम लाइ चसमे जह तहा मउजूदु ॥३॥

Kari phakaru daaim laai chasame jah tahaa maujoodu ||3||

Serve the Lord forever; use your eyes, and see Him ever-present everywhere. ||3||

ਅਲਾਹ ਪਾਕੰ ਪਾਕ ਹੈ ਸਕ ਕਰਉ ਜੇ ਦੂਸਰ ਹੋਇ ॥

अलाह पाकं पाक है सक करउ जे दूसर होइ ॥

Alaah paakann paak hai sak karau je doosar hoi ||

The Lord is the purest of the pure; only through doubt could there be another.

ਕਬੀਰ ਕਰਮੁ ਕਰੀਮ ਕਾ ਉਹੁ ਕਰੈ ਜਾਨੈ ਸੋਇ ॥੪॥੧॥

ਮੈ ਅੰਧੁਲੇ ਕੀ ਟੇਕ ਤੇਰਾ ਨਾਮੁ ਖੁੰਦਕਾਰਾ ॥

मै अंधुले की टेक तेरा नामु खुंदकारा ॥

Mai anddhule kee tek teraa naamu khunddakaaraa ||

I am blind; Your Name, O Creator Lord, is my only anchor and support.

ਮੈ ਗਰੀਬ ਮੈ ਮਸਕੀਨ ਤੇਰਾ ਨਾਮੁ ਹੈ ਅਧਾਰਾ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥

मै गरीब मै मसकीन तेरा नामु है अधारा ॥१॥ रहाउ ॥

Mai gareeb mai masakeen teraa naamu hai adhaaraa ||1|| rahaau ||

I am poor, and I am meek. Your Name is my only support. ||1|| Pause ||

ਕਰੀਮਾਂ ਰਹੀਮਾਂ ਅਲਾਹ ਤੂ ਗਨੀਂ ॥

करीमां रहीमां अलाह तू गनीं ॥

Kareemaan raheemaan alaah too ganeen ||

O beautiful Lord, benevolent and merciful Lord, You are so wealthy and generous.

ਹਾਜਰਾ ਹਜੂਰਿ ਦਰਿ ਪੇਸਿ ਤੂੰ ਮਨੀਂ ॥੧॥

हाजरा हजूरि दरि पेसि तूं मनीं ॥१॥

Haajaraa hajoori dari pesi toonn maneen ||1||

You are ever-present in every presence, within and before me. ||1||

ਦਰੀਆਉ ਤੂ ਦਿਹੰਦ ਤੂ ਬਿਸੀਆਰ ਤੂ ਧਨੀ ॥

दरीआउ तू दिहंद तू बिसीआर तू धनी ॥

Dareeaau too dihandd too biseeaar too dhanee ||

You are the river of life, You are the Giver of all; You are so very wealthy.

ਦੇਹਿ ਲੇਹਿ ਏਕੁ ਤੂੰ ਦਿਗਰ ਕੋ ਨਹੀ ॥੨॥

देहि लेहि एकु तूं दिगर को नही ॥२॥

Dehi lehi eku toonn digar ko nahee ||2||

You alone give, and You alone take away; there is no other at all. ||2||

ਤੂੰ ਦਾਨਾਂ ਤੂੰ ਬੀਨਾਂ ਮੈ ਬੀਚਾਰੁ ਕਿਆ ਕਰੀ ॥

तूं दानां तूं बीनां मै बीचारु किआ करी ॥

Toonn daanaan toonn beenaan mai beechaaru kiaa karee ||

You are wise, You are the supreme seer; how could I make You an object of thought?

ਨਾਮੇ ਚੇ ਸੁਆਮੀ ਬਖਸੰਦ ਤੂੰ ਹਰੀ ॥੩॥੧॥੨॥

नामे चे सुआमी बखसंद तूं हरी ॥३॥१॥२॥

Naame che suaamee bakhasandd toonn haree ||3||1||2||

O Lord and Master of Naam Dayv, You are the merciful Lord of forgiveness. ||3||1||2||

ਹਲੇ ਯਾਰਾਂ ਹਲੇ ਯਾਰਾਂ ਖੁਸਿਖਬਰੀ ॥

हले यारां हले यारां खुसिखबरी ॥

Hale yaaraan hale yaaraan khusikhabaree ||

Hello, my friend, hello my friend. Is there any good news?

ਬਲਿ ਬਲਿ ਜਾਂਉ ਹਉ ਬਲਿ ਬਲਿ ਜਾਂਉ ॥

बलि बलि जांउ हउ बलि बलि जांउ ॥

Bali bali jaanu hau bali bali jaanu ||

I am a sacrifice, a devoted sacrifice, a dedicated and devoted sacrifice, to You.

ਨੀਕੀ ਤੇਰੀ ਬਿਗਾਰੀ ਆਲੇ ਤੇਰਾ ਨਾਉ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥

नीकी तेरी बिगारी आले तेरा नाउ ॥१॥ रहाउ ॥

Neekee teree bigaaree aale teraa naau ||1|| rahaau ||

Slavery to You is so sublime; Your Name is noble and exalted. ||1|| Pause ||

ਕੁਜਾ ਆਮਦ ਕੁਜਾ ਰਫਤੀ ਕੁਜਾ ਮੇ ਰਵੀ ॥

कुजा आमद कुजा रफती कुजा मे रवी ॥

Kujaa aamad kujaa raphatee kujaa me ravee ||

Where did you come from? Where have You been? And where are You going?

ਦ੍ਵਾਰਿਕਾ ਨਗਰੀ ਰਾਸਿ ਬੁਗੋਈ ॥੧॥

द्वारिका नगरी रासि बुगोई ॥१॥

Dvaarikaa nagaree raasi bugoee ||1||

Tell me the truth, in the holy city of Dwaarikaa. ||1||

ਖੂਬੁ ਤੇਰੀ ਪਗਰੀ ਮੀਠੇ ਤੇਰੇ ਬੋਲ ॥

खूबु तेरी पगरी मीठे तेरे बोल ॥

Khoobu teree pagaree meethe tere bol ||

How handsome is your turban! And how sweet is your speech.

ਦ੍ਵਾਰਿਕਾ ਨਗਰੀ ਕਾਹੇ ਕੇ ਮਗੋਲ ॥੨॥

द्वारिका नगरी काहे के मगोल ॥२॥

Dvaarikaa nagaree kaahe ke magol ||2||

Why are there Moghals in the holy city of Dwaarikaa? ||2||

ਚੰਦੀਂ ਹਜਾਰ ਆਲਮ ਏਕਲ ਖਾਨਾਂ ॥

चंदीं हजार आलम एकल खानां ॥

Chanddeen hajaar aalam ekal khaanaan ||

You alone are the Lord of so many thousands of worlds.

ਹਮ ਚਿਨੀ ਪਾਤਿਸਾਹ ਸਾਂਵਲੇ ਬਰਨਾਂ ॥੩॥

हम चिनी पातिसाह सांवले बरनां ॥३॥

Ham chinee paatisaah saanvale baranaan ||3||

You are my Lord King, like the dark-skinned Krishna. ||3||

ਅਸਪਤਿ ਗਜਪਤਿ ਨਰਹ ਨਰਿੰਦ ॥

असपति गजपति नरह नरिंद ॥

Asapati gajapati narah narindd ||

You are the Lord of the sun, Lord Indra and Lord Brahma, the King of men.

ਨਾਮੇ ਕੇ ਸ੍ਵਾਮੀ ਮੀਰ ਮੁਕੰਦ ॥੪॥੨॥੩॥

नामे के स्वामी मीर मुकंद ॥४॥२॥३॥

Naame ke svaamee meer mukandd ||4||2||3||
