ਜੇ ਮਨਿ ਚਿਤਿ ਆਸ ਰਖਹਿ ਹਰਿ ਊਪਰਿ ਤਾ ਮਨ ਚਿੰਦੇ ਅਨੇਕ ਅਨੇਕ ਫਲ ਪਾਈ ॥

जे मनि चिति आस रखहि हरि ऊपरि ता मन चिंदे अनेक अनेक फल पाई ॥

Je mani chiti aas rakhahi hari upari taa man chindde anek anek phal paaee ||

If, in his conscious mind, he places his hopes in the Lord, then he shall obtain the fruits of all the many desires of his mind.

ਹਰਿ ਜਾਣੈ ਸਭੁ ਕਿਛੁ ਜੋ ਜੀਇ ਵਰਤੈ ਪ੍ਰਭੁ ਘਾਲਿਆ ਕਿਸੈ ਕਾ ਇਕੁ ਤਿਲੁ ਨ ਗਵਾਈ ॥

हरि जाणै सभु किछु जो जीइ वरतै प्रभु घालिआ किसै का इकु तिलु न गवाई ॥

Hari jaa(nn)ai sabhu kichhu jo jeei varatai prbhu ghaaliaa kisai kaa iku tilu na gavaaee ||

The Lord knows everything which happens to the soul. Not even an iota of one's effort goes to waste.

ਹਰਿ ਤਿਸ ਕੀ ਆਸ ਕੀਜੈ ਮਨ ਮੇਰੇ ਜੋ ਸਭ ਮਹਿ ਸੁਆਮੀ ਰਹਿਆ ਸਮਾਈ ॥੧॥

हरि तिस की आस कीजै मन मेरे जो सभ महि सुआमी रहिआ समाई ॥१॥

Hari tis kee aas keejai man mere jo sabh mahi suaamee rahiaa samaaee ||1||

Place your hopes in the Lord, O my mind; the Lord and Master is pervading and permeating all. ||1||

ਮੇਰੇ ਮਨ ਆਸਾ ਕਰਿ ਜਗਦੀਸ ਗੁਸਾਈ ॥

मेरे मन आसा करि जगदीस गुसाई ॥

Mere man aasaa kari jagadees gusaaee ||

O my mind, place your hopes in the Lord of the World, the Master of the Universe.

ਜੋ ਬਿਨੁ ਹਰਿ ਆਸ ਅਵਰ ਕਾਹੂ ਕੀ ਕੀਜੈ ਸਾ ਨਿਹਫਲ ਆਸ ਸਭ ਬਿਰਥੀ ਜਾਈ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥

जो बिनु हरि आस अवर काहू की कीजै सा निहफल आस सभ बिरथी जाई ॥१॥ रहाउ ॥

Jo binu hari aas avar kaahoo kee keejai saa nihaphal aas sabh birathee jaaee ||1|| rahaau ||

That hope which is placed in any other than the Lord - that hope is fruitless, and totally useless. ||1|| Pause ||

ਜੋ ਦੀਸੈ ਮਾਇਆ ਮੋਹ ਕੁਟੰਬੁ ਸਭੁ ਮਤ ਤਿਸ ਕੀ ਆਸ ਲਗਿ ਜਨਮੁ ਗਵਾਈ ॥

जो दीसै माइआ मोह कुट्मबु सभु मत तिस की आस लगि जनमु गवाई ॥

Jo deesai maaiaa moh kutambbu sabhu mat tis kee aas lagi janamu gavaaee ||

That which you can see, Maya, and all attachment to family - don't place your hopes in them, or your life will be wasted and lost.

ਇਨੑ ਕੈ ਕਿਛੁ ਹਾਥਿ ਨਹੀ ਕਹਾ ਕਰਹਿ ਇਹਿ ਬਪੁੜੇ ਇਨੑ ਕਾ ਵਾਹਿਆ ਕਛੁ ਨ ਵਸਾਈ ॥

इन्ह कै किछु हाथि नही कहा करहि इहि बपुड़े इन्ह का वाहिआ कछु न वसाई ॥

Inh kai kichhu haathi nahee kahaa karahi ihi bapu(rr)e inh kaa vaahiaa kachhu na vasaaee ||

Nothing is in their hands; what can these poor creatures do? By their actions, nothing can be done.

ਮੇਰੇ ਮਨ ਆਸ ਕਰਿ ਹਰਿ ਪ੍ਰੀਤਮ ਅਪੁਨੇ ਕੀ ਜੋ ਤੁਝੁ ਤਾਰੈ ਤੇਰਾ ਕੁਟੰਬੁ ਸਭੁ ਛਡਾਈ ॥੨॥

मेरे मन आस करि हरि प्रीतम अपुने की जो तुझु तारै तेरा कुट्मबु सभु छडाई ॥२॥

Mere man aas kari hari preetam apune kee jo tujhu taarai teraa kutambbu sabhu chhadaaee ||2||

O my mind, place your hopes in the Lord, your Beloved, who shall carry you across, and save your whole family as well. ||2||

ਜੇ ਕਿਛੁ ਆਸ ਅਵਰ ਕਰਹਿ ਪਰਮਿਤ੍ਰੀ ਮਤ ਤੂੰ ਜਾਣਹਿ ਤੇਰੈ ਕਿਤੈ ਕੰਮਿ ਆਈ ॥

जे किछु आस अवर करहि परमित्री मत तूं जाणहि तेरै कितै कमि आई ॥

Je kichhu aas avar karahi paramitree mat toonn jaa(nn)ahi terai kitai kammi aaee ||

If you place your hopes in any other, in any friend other than the Lord, then you shall come to know that it is of no use at all.

ਇਹ ਆਸ ਪਰਮਿਤ੍ਰੀ ਭਾਉ ਦੂਜਾ ਹੈ ਖਿਨ ਮਹਿ ਝੂਠੁ ਬਿਨਸਿ ਸਭ ਜਾਈ ॥

इह आस परमित्री भाउ दूजा है खिन महि झूठु बिनसि सभ जाई ॥

Ih aas paramitree bhaau doojaa hai khin mahi jhoothu binasi sabh jaaee ||

This hope placed in other friends comes from the love of duality. In an instant, it is gone; it is totally false.

ਮੇਰੇ ਮਨ ਆਸਾ ਕਰਿ ਹਰਿ ਪ੍ਰੀਤਮ ਸਾਚੇ ਕੀ ਜੋ ਤੇਰਾ ਘਾਲਿਆ ਸਭੁ ਥਾਇ ਪਾਈ ॥੩॥

मेरे मन आसा करि हरि प्रीतम साचे की जो तेरा घालिआ सभु थाइ पाई ॥३॥

Mere man aasaa kari hari preetam saache kee jo teraa ghaaliaa sabhu thaai paaee ||3||

O my mind, place your hopes in the Lord, your True Beloved, who shall approve and reward you for all your efforts. ||3||

ਆਸਾ ਮਨਸਾ ਸਭ ਤੇਰੀ ਮੇਰੇ ਸੁਆਮੀ ਜੈਸੀ ਤੂ ਆਸ ਕਰਾਵਹਿ ਤੈਸੀ ਕੋ ਆਸ ਕਰਾਈ ॥

आसा मनसा सभ तेरी मेरे सुआमी जैसी तू आस करावहि तैसी को आस कराई ॥

Aasaa manasaa sabh teree mere suaamee jaisee too aas karaavahi taisee ko aas karaaee ||

Hope and desire are all Yours, O my Lord and Master. As You inspire hope, so are the hopes held.

ਕਿਛੁ ਕਿਸੀ ਕੈ ਹਥਿ ਨਾਹੀ ਮੇਰੇ ਸੁਆਮੀ ਐਸੀ ਮੇਰੈ ਸਤਿਗੁਰਿ ਬੂਝ ਬੁਝਾਈ ॥

किछु किसी कै हथि नाही मेरे सुआमी ऐसी मेरै सतिगुरि बूझ बुझाई ॥

Kichhu kisee kai hathi naahee mere suaamee aisee merai satiguri boojh bujhaaee ||

Nothing is in the hands of anyone, O my Lord and Master; such is the understanding the True Guru has given me to understand.

ਜਨ ਨਾਨਕ ਕੀ ਆਸ ਤੂ ਜਾਣਹਿ ਹਰਿ ਦਰਸਨੁ ਦੇਖਿ ਹਰਿ ਦਰਸਨਿ ਤ੍ਰਿਪਤਾਈ ॥੪॥੧॥

जन नानक की आस तू जाणहि हरि दरसनु देखि हरि दरसनि त्रिपताई ॥४॥१॥

Jan naanak kee aas too jaa(nn)ahi hari darasanu dekhi hari darasani tripataaee ||4||1||

You alone know the hope of servant Nanak, O Lord; gazing upon the Blessed Vision of the Lord's Darshan, he is satisfied. ||4||1||

Gond, Fourth Mehl:

ਐਸਾ ਹਰਿ ਸੇਵੀਐ ਨਿਤ ਧਿਆਈਐ ਜੋ ਖਿਨ ਮਹਿ ਕਿਲਵਿਖ ਸਭਿ ਕਰੇ ਬਿਨਾਸਾ ॥

ऐसा हरि सेवीऐ नित धिआईऐ जो खिन महि किलविख सभि करे बिनासा ॥

Aisaa hari seveeai nit dhiaaeeai jo khin mahi kilavikh sabhi kare binaasaa ||

Serve such a Lord, and ever meditate on Him, who in an instant erases all sins and mistakes.

ਜੇ ਹਰਿ ਤਿਆਗਿ ਅਵਰ ਕੀ ਆਸ ਕੀਜੈ ਤਾ ਹਰਿ ਨਿਹਫਲ ਸਭ ਘਾਲ ਗਵਾਸਾ ॥

जे हरि तिआगि अवर की आस कीजै ता हरि निहफल सभ घाल गवासा ॥

Je hari tiaagi avar kee aas keejai taa hari nihaphal sabh ghaal gavaasaa ||

If someone forsakes the Lord and places his hopes in another, then all his service to the Lord is rendered fruitless.

ਮੇਰੇ ਮਨ ਹਰਿ ਸੇਵਿਹੁ ਸੁਖਦਾਤਾ ਸੁਆਮੀ ਜਿਸੁ ਸੇਵਿਐ ਸਭ ਭੁਖ ਲਹਾਸਾ ॥੧॥

मेरे मन हरि सेविहु सुखदाता सुआमी जिसु सेविऐ सभ भुख लहासा ॥१॥

Mere man hari sevihu sukhadaataa suaamee jisu seviai sabh bhukh lahaasaa ||1||

O my mind, serve the Lord, the Giver of peace; serving Him, all your hunger shall depart. ||1||

ਮੇਰੇ ਮਨ ਹਰਿ ਊਪਰਿ ਕੀਜੈ ਭਰਵਾਸਾ ॥

मेरे मन हरि ऊपरि कीजै भरवासा ॥

Mere man hari upari keejai bharavaasaa ||

O my mind, place your faith in the Lord.

ਜਹ ਜਾਈਐ ਤਹ ਨਾਲਿ ਮੇਰਾ ਸੁਆਮੀ ਹਰਿ ਅਪਨੀ ਪੈਜ ਰਖੈ ਜਨ ਦਾਸਾ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥

जह जाईऐ तह नालि मेरा सुआमी हरि अपनी पैज रखै जन दासा ॥१॥ रहाउ ॥

Jah jaaeeai tah naali meraa suaamee hari apanee paij rakhai jan daasaa ||1|| rahaau ||

Wherever I go, my Lord and Master is there with me. The Lord saves the honor of His humble servants and slaves. ||1|| Pause ||

ਜੇ ਅਪਨੀ ਬਿਰਥਾ ਕਹਹੁ ਅਵਰਾ ਪਹਿ ਤਾ ਆਗੈ ਅਪਨੀ ਬਿਰਥਾ ਬਹੁ ਬਹੁਤੁ ਕਢਾਸਾ ॥

जे अपनी बिरथा कहहु अवरा पहि ता आगै अपनी बिरथा बहु बहुतु कढासा ॥

Je apanee birathaa kahahu avaraa pahi taa aagai apanee birathaa bahu bahutu kadhaasaa ||

If you tell your sorrows to another, then he, in return, will tell you of his greater sorrows.

ਅਪਨੀ ਬਿਰਥਾ ਕਹਹੁ ਹਰਿ ਅਪੁਨੇ ਸੁਆਮੀ ਪਹਿ ਜੋ ਤੁਮ੍ਹ੍ਹਰੇ ਦੂਖ ਤਤਕਾਲ ਕਟਾਸਾ ॥

अपनी बिरथा कहहु हरि अपुने सुआमी पहि जो तुम्हरे दूख ततकाल कटासा ॥

Apanee birathaa kahahu hari apune suaamee pahi jo tumhre dookh tatakaal kataasaa ||

So tell your sorrows to the Lord, your Lord and Master, who shall instantly dispel your pain.

ਸੋ ਐਸਾ ਪ੍ਰਭੁ ਛੋਡਿ ਅਪਨੀ ਬਿਰਥਾ ਅਵਰਾ ਪਹਿ ਕਹੀਐ ਅਵਰਾ ਪਹਿ ਕਹਿ ਮਨ ਲਾਜ ਮਰਾਸਾ ॥੨॥

सो ऐसा प्रभु छोडि अपनी बिरथा अवरा पहि कहीऐ अवरा पहि कहि मन लाज मरासा ॥२॥

So aisaa prbhu chhodi apanee birathaa avaraa pahi kaheeai avaraa pahi kahi man laaj maraasaa ||2||

Forsaking such a Lord God, if you tell your sorrows to another, then you shall die of shame. ||2||

ਜੋ ਸੰਸਾਰੈ ਕੇ ਕੁਟੰਬ ਮਿਤ੍ਰ ਭਾਈ ਦੀਸਹਿ ਮਨ ਮੇਰੇ ਤੇ ਸਭਿ ਅਪਨੈ ਸੁਆਇ ਮਿਲਾਸਾ ॥

जो संसारै के कुट्मब मित्र भाई दीसहि मन मेरे ते सभि अपनै सुआइ मिलासा ॥

Jo sanssaarai ke kutambb mitr bhaaee deesahi man mere te sabhi apanai suaai milaasaa ||

The relatives, friends and siblings of the world that you see, O my mind, all meet with you for their own purposes.

ਜਿਤੁ ਦਿਨਿ ਉਨੑ ਕਾ ਸੁਆਉ ਹੋਇ ਨ ਆਵੈ ਤਿਤੁ ਦਿਨਿ ਨੇੜੈ ਕੋ ਨ ਢੁਕਾਸਾ ॥

जितु दिनि उन्ह का सुआउ होइ न आवै तितु दिनि नेड़ै को न ढुकासा ॥

Jitu dini unh kaa suaau hoi na aavai titu dini ne(rr)ai ko na dhukaasaa ||

And that day, when their self-interests are not served, on that day, they shall not come near you.

ਮਨ ਮੇਰੇ ਅਪਨਾ ਹਰਿ ਸੇਵਿ ਦਿਨੁ ਰਾਤੀ ਜੋ ਤੁਧੁ ਉਪਕਰੈ ਦੂਖਿ ਸੁਖਾਸਾ ॥੩॥

मन मेरे अपना हरि सेवि दिनु राती जो तुधु उपकरै दूखि सुखासा ॥३॥

Man mere apanaa hari sevi dinu raatee jo tudhu upakarai dookhi sukhaasaa ||3||

O my mind, serve your Lord, day and night; He shall help you in good times and bad. ||3||

ਤਿਸ ਕਾ ਭਰਵਾਸਾ ਕਿਉ ਕੀਜੈ ਮਨ ਮੇਰੇ ਜੋ ਅੰਤੀ ਅਉਸਰਿ ਰਖਿ ਨ ਸਕਾਸਾ ॥

तिस का भरवासा किउ कीजै मन मेरे जो अंती अउसरि रखि न सकासा ॥

Tis kaa bharavaasaa kiu keejai man mere jo anttee ausari rakhi na sakaasaa ||

Why place your faith in anyone, O my mind, who cannot come to your rescue at the last instant?

ਹਰਿ ਜਪੁ ਮੰਤੁ ਗੁਰ ਉਪਦੇਸੁ ਲੈ ਜਾਪਹੁ ਤਿਨੑ ਅੰਤਿ ਛਡਾਏ ਜਿਨੑ ਹਰਿ ਪ੍ਰੀਤਿ ਚਿਤਾਸਾ ॥

हरि जपु मंतु गुर उपदेसु लै जापहु तिन्ह अंति छडाए जिन्ह हरि प्रीति चितासा ॥

Hari japu manttu gur upadesu lai jaapahu tinh antti chhadaae jinh hari preeti chitaasaa ||

Chant the Lord's Mantra, take the Guru's Teachings, and meditate on Him. In the end, the Lord saves those who love Him in their consciousness.

ਜਨ ਨਾਨਕ ਅਨਦਿਨੁ ਨਾਮੁ ਜਪਹੁ ਹਰਿ ਸੰਤਹੁ ਇਹੁ ਛੂਟਣ ਕਾ ਸਾਚਾ ਭਰਵਾਸਾ ॥੪॥੨॥

जन नानक अनदिनु नामु जपहु हरि संतहु इहु छूटण का साचा भरवासा ॥४॥२॥

Jan naanak anadinu naamu japahu hari santtahu ihu chhoota(nn) kaa saachaa bharavaasaa ||4||2||

Servant Nanak speaks: night and day, chant the Lord's Name, O Saints; this is the only true hope for emancipation. ||4||2||

Gond, Fourth Mehl:

ਹਰਿ ਸਿਮਰਤ ਸਦਾ ਹੋਇ ਅਨੰਦੁ ਸੁਖੁ ਅੰਤਰਿ ਸਾਂਤਿ ਸੀਤਲ ਮਨੁ ਅਪਨਾ ॥

हरि सिमरत सदा होइ अनंदु सुखु अंतरि सांति सीतल मनु अपना ॥

Hari simarat sadaa hoi ananddu sukhu anttari saanti seetal manu apanaa ||

Remembering the Lord in meditation, you shall find bliss and peace forever deep within, and your mind will become tranquil and cool.

ਜੈਸੇ ਸਕਤਿ ਸੂਰੁ ਬਹੁ ਜਲਤਾ ਗੁਰ ਸਸਿ ਦੇਖੇ ਲਹਿ ਜਾਇ ਸਭ ਤਪਨਾ ॥੧॥

जैसे सकति सूरु बहु जलता गुर ससि देखे लहि जाइ सभ तपना ॥१॥

Jaise sakati sooru bahu jalataa gur sasi dekhe lahi jaai sabh tapanaa ||1||

It is like the harsh sun of Maya, with its burning heat; seeing the moon, the Guru, its heat totally vanishes. ||1||

ਮੇਰੇ ਮਨ ਅਨਦਿਨੁ ਧਿਆਇ ਨਾਮੁ ਹਰਿ ਜਪਨਾ ॥

मेरे मन अनदिनु धिआइ नामु हरि जपना ॥

Mere man anadinu dhiaai naamu hari japanaa ||

O my mind, night and day,meditate, and chant the Lord's Name.

ਜਹਾ ਕਹਾ ਤੁਝੁ ਰਾਖੈ ਸਭ ਠਾਈ ਸੋ ਐਸਾ ਪ੍ਰਭੁ ਸੇਵਿ ਸਦਾ ਤੂ ਅਪਨਾ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥

जहा कहा तुझु राखै सभ ठाई सो ऐसा प्रभु सेवि सदा तू अपना ॥१॥ रहाउ ॥

Jahaa kahaa tujhu raakhai sabh thaaee so aisaa prbhu sevi sadaa too apanaa ||1|| rahaau ||

Here and hereafter, He shall protect you, everywhere; serve such a God forever. ||1|| Pause ||

ਜਾ ਮਹਿ ਸਭਿ ਨਿਧਾਨ ਸੋ ਹਰਿ ਜਪਿ ਮਨ ਮੇਰੇ ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿ ਖੋਜਿ ਲਹਹੁ ਹਰਿ ਰਤਨਾ ॥

जा महि सभि निधान सो हरि जपि मन मेरे गुरमुखि खोजि लहहु हरि रतना ॥

Jaa mahi sabhi nidhaan so hari japi man mere guramukhi khoji lahahu hari ratanaa ||

Meditate on the Lord, who contains all treasures, O my mind; as Gurmukh, search for the jewel, the Lord.

ਜਿਨ ਹਰਿ ਧਿਆਇਆ ਤਿਨ ਹਰਿ ਪਾਇਆ ਮੇਰਾ ਸੁਆਮੀ ਤਿਨ ਕੇ ਚਰਣ ਮਲਹੁ ਹਰਿ ਦਸਨਾ ॥੨॥

जिन हरि धिआइआ तिन हरि पाइआ मेरा सुआमी तिन के चरण मलहु हरि दसना ॥२॥

Jin hari dhiaaiaa tin hari paaiaa meraa suaamee tin ke chara(nn) malahu hari dasanaa ||2||

Those who meditate on the Lord, find the Lord, my Lord and Master; I wash the feet of those slaves of the Lord. ||2||

ਸਬਦੁ ਪਛਾਣਿ ਰਾਮ ਰਸੁ ਪਾਵਹੁ ਓਹੁ ਊਤਮੁ ਸੰਤੁ ਭਇਓ ਬਡ ਬਡਨਾ ॥

सबदु पछाणि राम रसु पावहु ओहु ऊतमु संतु भइओ बड बडना ॥

Sabadu pachhaa(nn)i raam rasu paavahu ohu utamu santtu bhaio bad badanaa ||

One who realizes the Word of the Shabad, obtains the sublime essence of the Lord; such a Saint is lofty and sublime, the greatest of the great.

ਤਿਸੁ ਜਨ ਕੀ ਵਡਿਆਈ ਹਰਿ ਆਪਿ ਵਧਾਈ ਓਹੁ ਘਟੈ ਨ ਕਿਸੈ ਕੀ ਘਟਾਈ ਇਕੁ ਤਿਲੁ ਤਿਲੁ ਤਿਲਨਾ ॥੩॥

तिसु जन की वडिआई हरि आपि वधाई ओहु घटै न किसै की घटाई इकु तिलु तिलु तिलना ॥३॥

Tisu jan kee vadiaaee hari aapi vadhaaee ohu ghatai na kisai kee ghataaee iku tilu tilu tilanaa ||3||

The Lord Himself magnifies the glory of that humble servant. No one can lessen or decrease that glory, not even a bit. ||3||

ਜਿਸ ਤੇ ਸੁਖ ਪਾਵਹਿ ਮਨ ਮੇਰੇ ਸੋ ਸਦਾ ਧਿਆਇ ਨਿਤ ਕਰ ਜੁਰਨਾ ॥

जिस ते सुख पावहि मन मेरे सो सदा धिआइ नित कर जुरना ॥

Jis te sukh paavahi man mere so sadaa dhiaai nit kar juranaa ||

He shall give you peace, O my mind; meditate forever, every day on Him, with your palms pressed together.

ਜਨ ਨਾਨਕ ਕਉ ਹਰਿ ਦਾਨੁ ਇਕੁ ਦੀਜੈ ਨਿਤ ਬਸਹਿ ਰਿਦੈ ਹਰੀ ਮੋਹਿ ਚਰਨਾ ॥੪॥੩॥

ਜਿਤਨੇ ਸਾਹ ਪਾਤਿਸਾਹ ਉਮਰਾਵ ਸਿਕਦਾਰ ਚਉਧਰੀ ਸਭਿ ਮਿਥਿਆ ਝੂਠੁ ਭਾਉ ਦੂਜਾ ਜਾਣੁ ॥

जितने साह पातिसाह उमराव सिकदार चउधरी सभि मिथिआ झूठु भाउ दूजा जाणु ॥

Jitane saah paatisaah umaraav sikadaar chaudharee sabhi mithiaa jhoothu bhaau doojaa jaa(nn)u ||

All the kings, emperors, nobles, lords and chiefs are false and transitory, engrossed in duality - know this well.

ਹਰਿ ਅਬਿਨਾਸੀ ਸਦਾ ਥਿਰੁ ਨਿਹਚਲੁ ਤਿਸੁ ਮੇਰੇ ਮਨ ਭਜੁ ਪਰਵਾਣੁ ॥੧॥

हरि अबिनासी सदा थिरु निहचलु तिसु मेरे मन भजु परवाणु ॥१॥

Hari abinaasee sadaa thiru nihachalu tisu mere man bhaju paravaa(nn)u ||1||

The eternal Lord is permanent and unchanging; meditate on Him, O my mind, and you shall be approved. ||1||

ਮੇਰੇ ਮਨ ਨਾਮੁ ਹਰੀ ਭਜੁ ਸਦਾ ਦੀਬਾਣੁ ॥

मेरे मन नामु हरी भजु सदा दीबाणु ॥

Mere man naamu haree bhaju sadaa deebaa(nn)u ||

O my mind,vibrate,and meditate on the Lord's Name, which shall be your defender forever.

ਜੋ ਹਰਿ ਮਹਲੁ ਪਾਵੈ ਗੁਰ ਬਚਨੀ ਤਿਸੁ ਜੇਵਡੁ ਅਵਰੁ ਨਾਹੀ ਕਿਸੈ ਦਾ ਤਾਣੁ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥

जो हरि महलु पावै गुर बचनी तिसु जेवडु अवरु नाही किसै दा ताणु ॥१॥ रहाउ ॥

Jo hari mahalu paavai gur bachanee tisu jevadu avaru naahee kisai daa taa(nn)u ||1|| rahaau ||

One who obtains the Mansion of the Lord's Presence, through the Word of the Guru's Teachings - no one else's power is as great as his. ||1|| Pause ||

ਜਿਤਨੇ ਧਨਵੰਤ ਕੁਲਵੰਤ ਮਿਲਖਵੰਤ ਦੀਸਹਿ ਮਨ ਮੇਰੇ ਸਭਿ ਬਿਨਸਿ ਜਾਹਿ ਜਿਉ ਰੰਗੁ ਕਸੁੰਭ ਕਚਾਣੁ ॥

जितने धनवंत कुलवंत मिलखवंत दीसहि मन मेरे सभि बिनसि जाहि जिउ रंगु कसु्मभ कचाणु ॥

Jitane dhanavantt kulavantt milakhavantt deesahi man mere sabhi binasi jaahi jiu ranggu kasumbbh kachaa(nn)u ||

All the wealthy, high class property owners which you see, O my mind, shall vanish, like the fading color of the safflower.

ਹਰਿ ਸਤਿ ਨਿਰੰਜਨੁ ਸਦਾ ਸੇਵਿ ਮਨ ਮੇਰੇ ਜਿਤੁ ਹਰਿ ਦਰਗਹ ਪਾਵਹਿ ਤੂ ਮਾਣੁ ॥੨॥

हरि सति निरंजनु सदा सेवि मन मेरे जितु हरि दरगह पावहि तू माणु ॥२॥

Hari sati niranjjanu sadaa sevi man mere jitu hari daragah paavahi too maa(nn)u ||2||

Serve the True, Immaculate Lord forever, O my mind, and you shall be honored in the Court of the Lord. ||2||

ਬ੍ਰਾਹਮਣੁ ਖਤ੍ਰੀ ਸੂਦ ਵੈਸ ਚਾਰਿ ਵਰਨ ਚਾਰਿ ਆਸ੍ਰਮ ਹਹਿ ਜੋ ਹਰਿ ਧਿਆਵੈ ਸੋ ਪਰਧਾਨੁ ॥

ब्राहमणु खत्री सूद वैस चारि वरन चारि आस्रम हहि जो हरि धिआवै सो परधानु ॥

Braahama(nn)u khatree sood vais chaari varan chaari aasrm hahi jo hari dhiaavai so paradhaanu ||

There are four castes: Brahmin, Kshatriya, Soodra and Vaisya, and there are four stages of life. One who meditates on the Lord, is the most distinguished and renowned.

ਜਿਉ ਚੰਦਨ ਨਿਕਟਿ ਵਸੈ ਹਿਰਡੁ ਬਪੁੜਾ ਤਿਉ ਸਤਸੰਗਤਿ ਮਿਲਿ ਪਤਿਤ ਪਰਵਾਣੁ ॥੩॥

जिउ चंदन निकटि वसै हिरडु बपुड़ा तिउ सतसंगति मिलि पतित परवाणु ॥३॥

Jiu chanddan nikati vasai hiradu bapu(rr)aa tiu satasanggati mili patit paravaa(nn)u ||3||

The poor castor oil plant, growing near the sandalwood tree, becomes fragrant; in the same way, the sinner, associating with the Saints, becomes acceptable and approved. ||3||

ਓਹੁ ਸਭ ਤੇ ਊਚਾ ਸਭ ਤੇ ਸੂਚਾ ਜਾ ਕੈ ਹਿਰਦੈ ਵਸਿਆ ਭਗਵਾਨੁ ॥

ओहु सभ ते ऊचा सभ ते सूचा जा कै हिरदै वसिआ भगवानु ॥

Ohu sabh te uchaa sabh te soochaa jaa kai hiradai vasiaa bhagavaanu ||

He, within whose heart the Lord abides, is the highest of all, and the purest of all.

ਜਨ ਨਾਨਕੁ ਤਿਸ ਕੇ ਚਰਨ ਪਖਾਲੈ ਜੋ ਹਰਿ ਜਨੁ ਨੀਚੁ ਜਾਤਿ ਸੇਵਕਾਣੁ ॥੪॥੪॥

जन नानकु तिस के चरन पखालै जो हरि जनु नीचु जाति सेवकाणु ॥४॥४॥

Jan naanaku tis ke charan pakhaalai jo hari janu neechu jaati sevakaa(nn)u ||4||4||

Servant Nanak washes the feet of thM at humble servant of the Lord; he may be from a low class family, but he is now the Lord's servant. ||4||4||

ਹਰਿ ਅੰਤਰਜਾਮੀ ਸਭਤੈ ਵਰਤੈ ਜੇਹਾ ਹਰਿ ਕਰਾਏ ਤੇਹਾ ਕੋ ਕਰਈਐ ॥

हरि अंतरजामी सभतै वरतै जेहा हरि कराए तेहा को करईऐ ॥

Hari anttarajaamee sabhatai varatai jehaa hari karaae tehaa ko karaeeai ||

The Lord, the Inner-knower, the Searcher of hearts, is all-pervading. As the Lord causes them to act, so do they act.

ਸੋ ਐਸਾ ਹਰਿ ਸੇਵਿ ਸਦਾ ਮਨ ਮੇਰੇ ਜੋ ਤੁਧਨੋ ਸਭ ਦੂ ਰਖਿ ਲਈਐ ॥੧॥

सो ऐसा हरि सेवि सदा मन मेरे जो तुधनो सभ दू रखि लईऐ ॥१॥

So aisaa hari sevi sadaa man mere jo tudhano sabh doo rakhi laeeai ||1||

So serve forever such a Lord, O my mind, who will protect you from everything. ||1||

ਮੇਰੇ ਮਨ ਹਰਿ ਜਪਿ ਹਰਿ ਨਿਤ ਪੜਈਐ ॥

मेरे मन हरि जपि हरि नित पड़ईऐ ॥

Mere man hari japi hari nit pa(rr)aeeai ||

O my mind, meditate on the Lord, and read about the Lord every day.

ਹਰਿ ਬਿਨੁ ਕੋ ਮਾਰਿ ਜੀਵਾਲਿ ਨ ਸਾਕੈ ਤਾ ਮੇਰੇ ਮਨ ਕਾਇਤੁ ਕੜਈਐ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥

हरि बिनु को मारि जीवालि न साकै ता मेरे मन काइतु कड़ईऐ ॥१॥ रहाउ ॥

Hari binu ko maari jeevaali na saakai taa mere man kaaitu ka(rr)aeeai ||1|| rahaau ||

Other than the Lord, no one can kill you or save you; so why do you worry, O my mind? ||1|| Pause ||

ਹਰਿ ਪਰਪੰਚੁ ਕੀਆ ਸਭੁ ਕਰਤੈ ਵਿਚਿ ਆਪੇ ਆਪਣੀ ਜੋਤਿ ਧਰਈਐ ॥

हरि परपंचु कीआ सभु करतै विचि आपे आपणी जोति धरईऐ ॥

Hari parapancchu keeaa sabhu karatai vichi aape aapa(nn)ee joti dharaeeai ||

The Creator created the entire universe, and infused His Light into it.

ਹਰਿ ਏਕੋ ਬੋਲੈ ਹਰਿ ਏਕੁ ਬੁਲਾਏ ਗੁਰਿ ਪੂਰੈ ਹਰਿ ਏਕੁ ਦਿਖਈਐ ॥੨॥

हरि एको बोलै हरि एकु बुलाए गुरि पूरै हरि एकु दिखईऐ ॥२॥

Hari eko bolai hari eku bulaae guri poorai hari eku dikhaeeai ||2||

The One Lord speaks, and the One Lord causes all to speak.The Perfect Guru has revealed the One Lord. ||2||

ਹਰਿ ਅੰਤਰਿ ਨਾਲੇ ਬਾਹਰਿ ਨਾਲੇ ਕਹੁ ਤਿਸੁ ਪਾਸਹੁ ਮਨ ਕਿਆ ਚੋਰਈਐ ॥

हरि अंतरि नाले बाहरि नाले कहु तिसु पासहु मन किआ चोरईऐ ॥

Hari anttari naale baahari naale kahu tisu paasahu man kiaa choraeeai ||

The Lord is with you, inside and out; tell me, O mind, how can You hide anything from Him?

ਨਿਹਕਪਟ ਸੇਵਾ ਕੀਜੈ ਹਰਿ ਕੇਰੀ ਤਾਂ ਮੇਰੇ ਮਨ ਸਰਬ ਸੁਖ ਪਈਐ ॥੩॥

निहकपट सेवा कीजै हरि केरी तां मेरे मन सरब सुख पईऐ ॥३॥

Nihakapat sevaa keejai hari keree taan mere man sarab sukh paeeai ||3||

Serve the Lord open-heartedly, and then, O my mind, you shall find total peace. ||3||

ਜਿਸ ਦੈ ਵਸਿ ਸਭੁ ਕਿਛੁ ਸੋ ਸਭ ਦੂ ਵਡਾ ਸੋ ਮੇਰੇ ਮਨ ਸਦਾ ਧਿਅਈਐ ॥

जिस दै वसि सभु किछु सो सभ दू वडा सो मेरे मन सदा धिअईऐ ॥

Jis dai vasi sabhu kichhu so sabh doo vadaa so mere man sadaa dhiaeeai ||

Everything is under His control; He is the greatest of all. O my mind, meditate forever on Him.

ਜਨ ਨਾਨਕ ਸੋ ਹਰਿ ਨਾਲਿ ਹੈ ਤੇਰੈ ਹਰਿ ਸਦਾ ਧਿਆਇ ਤੂ ਤੁਧੁ ਲਏ ਛਡਈਐ ॥੪॥੫॥

जन नानक सो हरि नालि है तेरै हरि सदा धिआइ तू तुधु लए छडईऐ ॥४॥५॥

Jan naanak so hari naali hai terai hari sadaa dhiaai too tudhu lae chhadaeeai ||4||5||

O Servant Nanak, that Lord is always with you. Meditate forever on your Lord, and He shall emancipate you. ||4||5||

हरि दरसन कउ मेरा मनु बहु तपतै जिउ त्रिखावंतु बिनु नीर ॥१॥

Hari darasan kau meraa manu bahu tapatai jiu trikhaavanttu binu neer ||1||

My mind yearns so deeply for the Blessed Vision of the Lord's Darshan, like the thirsty man without water. ||1||

ਮੇਰੈ ਮਨਿ ਪ੍ਰੇਮੁ ਲਗੋ ਹਰਿ ਤੀਰ ॥

मेरै मनि प्रेमु लगो हरि तीर ॥

Merai mani premu lago hari teer ||

My mind is pierced through by the arrow of the Lord's Love.

ਹਮਰੀ ਬੇਦਨ ਹਰਿ ਪ੍ਰਭੁ ਜਾਨੈ ਮੇਰੇ ਮਨ ਅੰਤਰ ਕੀ ਪੀਰ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥

हमरी बेदन हरि प्रभु जानै मेरे मन अंतर की पीर ॥१॥ रहाउ ॥

Hamaree bedan hari prbhu jaanai mere man anttar kee peer ||1|| rahaau ||

The Lord God knows my anguish, and the pain deep within my mind. ||1|| Pause ||

ਮੇਰੇ ਹਰਿ ਪ੍ਰੀਤਮ ਕੀ ਕੋਈ ਬਾਤ ਸੁਨਾਵੈ ਸੋ ਭਾਈ ਸੋ ਮੇਰਾ ਬੀਰ ॥੨॥

मेरे हरि प्रीतम की कोई बात सुनावै सो भाई सो मेरा बीर ॥२॥

Mere hari preetam kee koee baat sunaavai so bhaaee so meraa beer ||2||

Whoever tells me the Stories of my Beloved Lord is my Sibling of Destiny, and my friend. ||2||

ਮਿਲੁ ਮਿਲੁ ਸਖੀ ਗੁਣ ਕਹੁ ਮੇਰੇ ਪ੍ਰਭ ਕੇ ਲੇ ਸਤਿਗੁਰ ਕੀ ਮਤਿ ਧੀਰ ॥੩॥

मिलु मिलु सखी गुण कहु मेरे प्रभ के ले सतिगुर की मति धीर ॥३॥

Milu milu sakhee gu(nn) kahu mere prbh ke le satigur kee mati dheer ||3||

Come, and join together, O my companions; let's sing the Glorious Praises of my God, and follow the comforting advice of the True Guru.. ||3||

ਜਨ ਨਾਨਕ ਕੀ ਹਰਿ ਆਸ ਪੁਜਾਵਹੁ ਹਰਿ ਦਰਸਨਿ ਸਾਂਤਿ ਸਰੀਰ ॥੪॥੬॥ ਛਕਾ ੧ ॥

जन नानक की हरि आस पुजावहु हरि दरसनि सांति सरीर ॥४॥६॥ छका १ ॥

Jan naanak kee hari aas pujaavahu hari darasani saanti sareer ||4||6|| chhakaa 1 ||

Please fulfill the hopes of servant Nanak, O Lord; his body finds peace and tranquility in the Blessed Vision of the Lord's Darshan. ||4||6|| Chhakaa 1.||

Ik-oamkkaari satigur prsaadi ||

One Universal Creator God. By The Grace Of The True Guru:

ਸਭੁ ਕਰਤਾ ਸਭੁ ਭੁਗਤਾ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥

सभु करता सभु भुगता ॥१॥ रहाउ ॥

Sabhu karataa sabhu bhugataa ||1|| rahaau ||

He is the Creator of all, He is the Enjoyer of all. ||1|| Pause ||

ਸੁਨਤੋ ਕਰਤਾ ਪੇਖਤ ਕਰਤਾ ॥

सुनतो करता पेखत करता ॥

Sunato karataa pekhat karataa ||

The Creator listens, and the Creator sees.

ਅਦ੍ਰਿਸਟੋ ਕਰਤਾ ਦ੍ਰਿਸਟੋ ਕਰਤਾ ॥

अद्रिसटो करता द्रिसटो करता ॥

Adrisato karataa drisato karataa ||

The Creator is unseen, and the Creator is seen.

ਓਪਤਿ ਕਰਤਾ ਪਰਲਉ ਕਰਤਾ ॥

ओपति करता परलउ करता ॥

Opati karataa paralau karataa ||

The Creator forms, and the Creator destroys.

ਬਿਆਪਤ ਕਰਤਾ ਅਲਿਪਤੋ ਕਰਤਾ ॥੧॥

बिआपत करता अलिपतो करता ॥१॥

Biaapat karataa alipato karataa ||1||

The Creator touches, and the Creator is detached. ||1||

ਬਕਤੋ ਕਰਤਾ ਬੂਝਤ ਕਰਤਾ ॥

बकतो करता बूझत करता ॥

Bakato karataa boojhat karataa ||

The Creator is the One who speaks, and the Creator is the One who understands.

ਆਵਤੁ ਕਰਤਾ ਜਾਤੁ ਭੀ ਕਰਤਾ ॥

आवतु करता जातु भी करता ॥

Aavatu karataa jaatu bhee karataa ||

The Creator comes, and the Creator also goes.

ਨਿਰਗੁਨ ਕਰਤਾ ਸਰਗੁਨ ਕਰਤਾ ॥

निरगुन करता सरगुन करता ॥

Niragun karataa saragun karataa ||

The Creator is absolute and without qualities; the Creator is related, with the most excellent qualities.

ਗੁਰ ਪ੍ਰਸਾਦਿ ਨਾਨਕ ਸਮਦ੍ਰਿਸਟਾ ॥੨॥੧॥

गुर प्रसादि नानक समद्रिसटा ॥२॥१॥

Gur prsaadi naanak samadrisataa ||2||1||

By Guru's Grace, Nanak looks upon all the same. ||2||1||

ਫਾਕਿਓ ਮੀਨ ਕਪਿਕ ਕੀ ਨਿਆਈ ਤੂ ਉਰਝਿ ਰਹਿਓ ਕਸੁੰਭਾਇਲੇ ॥

फाकिओ मीन कपिक की निआई तू उरझि रहिओ कुस्मभाइले ॥

Phaakio meen kapik kee niaaee too urajhi rahio kasumbbhaaile ||

You are caught, like the fish and the monkey; you are entangled in the transitory world.

ਪਗ ਧਾਰਹਿ ਸਾਸੁ ਲੇਖੈ ਲੈ ਤਉ ਉਧਰਹਿ ਹਰਿ ਗੁਣ ਗਾਇਲੇ ॥੧॥

पग धारहि सासु लेखै लै तउ उधरहि हरि गुण गाइले ॥१॥

Pag dhaarahi saasu lekhai lai tau udharahi hari gu(nn) gaaile ||1||

Your foot-steps and your breaths are numbered; only by singing the Glorious Praises of the Lord will you be saved. ||1||

ਮਨ ਸਮਝੁ ਛੋਡਿ ਆਵਾਇਲੇ ॥

मन समझु छोडि आवाइले ॥

Man samajhu chhodi aavaaile ||

O mind, reform yourself, and forsake your aimless wandering.

ਅਪਨੇ ਰਹਨ ਕਉ ਠਉਰੁ ਨ ਪਾਵਹਿ ਕਾਏ ਪਰ ਕੈ ਜਾਇਲੇ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥

अपने रहन कउ ठउरु न पावहि काए पर कै जाइले ॥१॥ रहाउ ॥

Apane rahan kau thauru na paavahi kaae par kai jaaile ||1|| rahaau ||

You have found no place of rest for yourself; so why do you try to teach others? ||1|| Pause ||

ਜਿਉ ਮੈਗਲੁ ਇੰਦ੍ਰੀ ਰਸਿ ਪ੍ਰੇਰਿਓ ਤੂ ਲਾਗਿ ਪਰਿਓ ਕੁਟੰਬਾਇਲੇ ॥

जिउ मैगलु इंद्री रसि प्रेरिओ तू लागि परिओ कुट्मबाइले ॥

Jiu maigalu ianddree rasi prerio too laagi pario kutambbaaile ||

Like the elephant, driven by sexual desire, you are attached to your family.

ਜਿਉ ਪੰਖੀ ਇਕਤ੍ਰ ਹੋਇ ਫਿਰਿ ਬਿਛੁਰੈ ਥਿਰੁ ਸੰਗਤਿ ਹਰਿ ਹਰਿ ਧਿਆਇਲੇ ॥੨॥

जिउ पंखी इकत्र होइ फिरि बिछुरै थिरु संगति हरि हरि धिआइले ॥२॥

Jiu pankkhee ikatr hoi phiri bichhurai thiru sanggati hari hari dhiaaile ||2||

People are like birds that come together, and fly apart again; you shall become stable and steady, only when you meditate on the Lord, Har, Har, in the Company of the Holy. ||2||

ਜੈਸੇ ਮੀਨੁ ਰਸਨ ਸਾਦਿ ਬਿਨਸਿਓ ਓਹੁ ਮੂਠੌ ਮੂੜ ਲੋਭਾਇਲੇ ॥

जैसे मीनु रसन सादि बिनसिओ ओहु मूठौ मूड़ लोभाइले ॥

Jaise meenu rasan saadi binasio ohu moothau moo(rr) lobhaaile ||

Like the fish, which perishes because of its desire to taste, the fool is ruined by his greed.

ਤੂ ਹੋਆ ਪੰਚ ਵਾਸਿ ਵੈਰੀ ਕੈ ਛੂਟਹਿ ਪਰੁ ਸਰਨਾਇਲੇ ॥੩॥

तू होआ पंच वासि वैरी कै छूटहि परु सरनाइले ॥३॥

Too hoaa pancch vaasi vairee kai chhootahi paru saranaaile ||3||

You have fallen under the power of the five thieves; escape is only possible in the Sanctuary of the Lord. ||3||

ਹੋਹੁ ਕ੍ਰਿਪਾਲ ਦੀਨ ਦੁਖ ਭੰਜਨ ਸਭਿ ਤੁਮ੍ਹ੍ਹਰੇ ਜੀਅ ਜੰਤਾਇਲੇ ॥

होहु क्रिपाल दीन दुख भंजन सभि तुम्हरे जीअ जंताइले ॥

Hohu kripaal deen dukh bhanjjan sabhi tumhre jeea janttaaile ||

Be Merciful to me, O Destroyer of the pains of the meek; all beings and creatures belong to You.

ਪਾਵਉ ਦਾਨੁ ਸਦਾ ਦਰਸੁ ਪੇਖਾ ਮਿਲੁ ਨਾਨਕ ਦਾਸ ਦਸਾਇਲੇ ॥੪॥੨॥

पावउ दानु सदा दरसु पेखा मिलु नानक दास दसाइले ॥४॥२॥

Paavau daanu sadaa darasu pekhaa milu naanak daas dasaaile ||4||2||

Ik-oamkkaari satigur prsaadi ||

One Universal Creator God. By The Grace Of The True Guru:

ਜੀਅ ਪ੍ਰਾਨ ਕੀਏ ਜਿਨਿ ਸਾਜਿ ॥

जीअ प्रान कीए जिनि साजि ॥

Jeea praan keee jini saaji ||

He fashioned the soul and the breath of life,

ਮਾਟੀ ਮਹਿ ਜੋਤਿ ਰਖੀ ਨਿਵਾਜਿ ॥

माटी महि जोति रखी निवाजि ॥

Maatee mahi joti rakhee nivaaji ||

And infused His Light into the dust;

ਬਰਤਨ ਕਉ ਸਭੁ ਕਿਛੁ ਭੋਜਨ ਭੋਗਾਇ ॥

बरतन कउ सभु किछु भोजन भोगाइ ॥

Baratan kau sabhu kichhu bhojan bhogaai ||

He exalted you and gave you everything to use, and food to eat and enjoy

ਸੋ ਪ੍ਰਭੁ ਤਜਿ ਮੂੜੇ ਕਤ ਜਾਇ ॥੧॥

सो प्रभु तजि मूड़े कत जाइ ॥१॥

So prbhu taji moo(rr)e kat jaai ||1||

- how can you forsake that God, you fool! Where else will you go? ||1||

ਪਾਰਬ੍ਰਹਮ ਕੀ ਲਾਗਉ ਸੇਵ ॥

पारब्रहम की लागउ सेव ॥

Paarabrham kee laagau sev ||

Commit yourself to the service of the Transcendent Lord.

ਗੁਰ ਤੇ ਸੁਝੈ ਨਿਰੰਜਨ ਦੇਵ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥

गुर ते सुझै निरंजन देव ॥१॥ रहाउ ॥

Gur te sujhai niranjjan dev ||1|| rahaau ||

Through the Guru, one understands the Immaculate, Divine Lord. ||1|| Pause ||

ਜਿਨਿ ਕੀਏ ਰੰਗ ਅਨਿਕ ਪਰਕਾਰ ॥

जिनि कीए रंग अनिक परकार ॥

Jini keee rangg anik parakaar ||

He created plays and dramas of all sorts;

ਓਪਤਿ ਪਰਲਉ ਨਿਮਖ ਮਝਾਰ ॥

ओपति परलउ निमख मझार ॥

Opati paralau nimakh majhaar ||

He creates and destroys in an instant;

ਜਾ ਕੀ ਗਤਿ ਮਿਤਿ ਕਹੀ ਨ ਜਾਇ ॥

जा की गति मिति कही न जाइ ॥

Jaa kee gati miti kahee na jaai ||

His state and condition cannot be described.

ਸੋ ਪ੍ਰਭੁ ਮਨ ਮੇਰੇ ਸਦਾ ਧਿਆਇ ॥੨॥

सो प्रभु मन मेरे सदा धिआइ ॥२॥

So prbhu man mere sadaa dhiaai ||2||

Meditate forever on that God, O my mind. ||2||

ਆਇ ਨ ਜਾਵੈ ਨਿਹਚਲੁ ਧਨੀ ॥

आइ न जावै निहचलु धनी ॥

Aai na jaavai nihachalu dhanee ||

The unchanging Lord does not come or go.

ਬੇਅੰਤ ਗੁਨਾ ਤਾ ਕੇ ਕੇਤਕ ਗਨੀ ॥

बेअंत गुना ता के केतक गनी ॥

Beantt gunaa taa ke ketak ganee ||

His Glorious Virtues are infinite; how many of them can I count?

ਲਾਲ ਨਾਮ ਜਾ ਕੈ ਭਰੇ ਭੰਡਾਰ ॥

लाल नाम जा कै भरे भंडार ॥

Laal naam jaa kai bhare bhanddaar ||

His treasure is overflowing with the rubies of the Name.

ਸਗਲ ਘਟਾ ਦੇਵੈ ਆਧਾਰ ॥੩॥

सगल घटा देवै आधार ॥३॥

Sagal ghataa devai aadhaar ||3||

He gives Support to all hearts. ||3||

ਸਤਿ ਪੁਰਖੁ ਜਾ ਕੋ ਹੈ ਨਾਉ ॥

सति पुरखु जा को है नाउ ॥

Sati purakhu jaa ko hai naau ||

The Name is the True Primal Being;

ਮਿਟਹਿ ਕੋਟਿ ਅਘ ਨਿਮਖ ਜਸੁ ਗਾਉ ॥

मिटहि कोटि अघ निमख जसु गाउ ॥

Mitahi koti agh nimakh jasu gaau ||

Millions of sins are washed away in an instant, singing His Praises.

ਬਾਲ ਸਖਾਈ ਭਗਤਨ ਕੋ ਮੀਤ ॥

बाल सखाई भगतन को मीत ॥

Baal sakhaaee bhagatan ko meet ||

The Lord God is your best friend, your playmate from earliest childhood.

ਪ੍ਰਾਨ ਅਧਾਰ ਨਾਨਕ ਹਿਤ ਚੀਤ ॥੪॥੧॥੩॥

प्रान अधार नानक हित चीत ॥४॥१॥३॥

Praan adhaar naanak hit cheet ||4||1||3||

He is the Support of the breath of life; O Nanak, He is love, He is consciousness. ||4||1||3||

ਨਾਮ ਸੰਗਿ ਕੀਨੋ ਬਿਉਹਾਰੁ ॥

नाम संगि कीनो बिउहारु ॥

Naam sanggi keeno biuhaaru ||

I trade in the Naam, the Name of the Lord.

ਨਾਮੋੁ ਹੀ ਇਸੁ ਮਨ ਕਾ ਅਧਾਰੁ ॥

नामो ही इसु मन का अधारु ॥

Naamao hee isu man kaa adhaaru ||

The Naam is the Support of the mind.

ਨਾਮੋ ਹੀ ਚਿਤਿ ਕੀਨੀ ਓਟ ॥

नामो ही चिति कीनी ओट ॥

Naamo hee chiti keenee ot ||

My consciousness takes to the Shelter of the Naam.

ਨਾਮੁ ਜਪਤ ਮਿਟਹਿ ਪਾਪ ਕੋਟਿ ॥੧॥

नामु जपत मिटहि पाप कोटि ॥१॥

Naamu japat mitahi paap koti ||1||

Chanting the Naam, millions of sins are erased. ||1||

ਰਾਸਿ ਦੀਈ ਹਰਿ ਏਕੋ ਨਾਮੁ ॥

रासि दीई हरि एको नामु ॥

Raasi deeee hari eko naamu ||

The Lord has blessed me with the wealth of the Naam, the Name of the One Lord.

ਮਨ ਕਾ ਇਸਟੁ ਗੁਰ ਸੰਗਿ ਧਿਆਨੁ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥

मन का इसटु गुर संगि धिआनु ॥१॥ रहाउ ॥

Man kaa isatu gur sanggi dhiaanu ||1|| rahaau ||

The wish of my mind is to meditate on the Naam, in association with the Guru. ||1|| Pause ||

ਨਾਮੁ ਹਮਾਰੇ ਜੀਅ ਕੀ ਰਾਸਿ ॥

नामु हमारे जीअ की रासि ॥

Naamu hamaare jeea kee raasi ||

The Naam is the wealth of my soul.

ਨਾਮੋ ਸੰਗੀ ਜਤ ਕਤ ਜਾਤ ॥

नामो संगी जत कत जात ॥

Naamo sanggee jat kat jaat ||

Wherever I go, the Naam is with me.

ਨਾਮੋ ਹੀ ਮਨਿ ਲਾਗਾ ਮੀਠਾ ॥

नामो ही मनि लागा मीठा ॥

Naamo hee mani laagaa meethaa ||

The Naam is sweet to my mind.

ਜਲਿ ਥਲਿ ਸਭ ਮਹਿ ਨਾਮੋ ਡੀਠਾ ॥੨॥

जलि थलि सभ महि नामो डीठा ॥२॥

Jali thali sabh mahi naamo deethaa ||2||

In the water, on the land, and everywhere, I see the Naam. ||2||

ਨਾਮੇ ਦਰਗਹ ਮੁਖ ਉਜਲੇ ॥

नामे दरगह मुख उजले ॥

Naame daragah mukh ujale ||

Through the Naam, one's face becomes radiant in the Court of the Lord.

ਨਾਮੇ ਸਗਲੇ ਕੁਲ ਉਧਰੇ ॥

नामे सगले कुल उधरे ॥

Naame sagale kul udhare ||

Through the Naam, all one's generations are saved.

ਨਾਮਿ ਹਮਾਰੇ ਕਾਰਜ ਸੀਧ ॥

नामि हमारे कारज सीध ॥

Naami hamaare kaaraj seedh ||

Through the Naam, my affairs are resolved.

ਨਾਮ ਸੰਗਿ ਇਹੁ ਮਨੂਆ ਗੀਧ ॥੩॥

नाम संगि इहु मनूआ गीध ॥३॥

Naam sanggi ihu manooaa geedh ||3||

My mind is accustomed to the Naam. ||3||

ਨਾਮੇ ਹੀ ਹਮ ਨਿਰਭਉ ਭਏ ॥

नामे ही हम निरभउ भए ॥

Naame hee ham nirabhau bhae ||

Through the Naam, I have become fearless.

ਨਾਮੇ ਆਵਨ ਜਾਵਨ ਰਹੇ ॥

नामे आवन जावन रहे ॥

Naame aavan jaavan rahe ||

Through the Naam, my comings and goings have ceased.

ਗੁਰਿ ਪੂਰੈ ਮੇਲੇ ਗੁਣਤਾਸ ॥

गुरि पूरै मेले गुणतास ॥

Guri poorai mele gu(nn)ataas ||

The Perfect Guru has united me with the Lord, the treasure of virtue.

ਕਹੁ ਨਾਨਕ ਸੁਖਿ ਸਹਜਿ ਨਿਵਾਸੁ ॥੪॥੨॥੪॥

कहु नानक सुखि सहजि निवासु ॥४॥२॥४॥

Kahu naanak sukhi sahaji nivaasu ||4||2||4||

Says Nanak, I dwell in celestial peace. ||4||2||4||

ਨਿਮਾਨੇ ਕਉ ਜੋ ਦੇਤੋ ਮਾਨੁ ॥

निमाने कउ जो देतो मानु ॥

Nimaane kau jo deto maanu ||

He grants honor to the dishonored,

ਸਗਲ ਭੂਖੇ ਕਉ ਕਰਤਾ ਦਾਨੁ ॥

सगल भूखे कउ करता दानु ॥

Sagal bhookhe kau karataa daanu ||

And gives gifts to all the hungry;

ਗਰਭ ਘੋਰ ਮਹਿ ਰਾਖਨਹਾਰੁ ॥

गरभ घोर महि राखनहारु ॥

Garabh ghor mahi raakhanahaaru ||

He protects those in the terrible womb.

ਤਿਸੁ ਠਾਕੁਰ ਕਉ ਸਦਾ ਨਮਸਕਾਰੁ ॥੧॥

तिसु ठाकुर कउ सदा नमसकारु ॥१॥

Tisu thaakur kau sadaa namasakaaru ||1||

So humbly bow forever to that Lord and Master. ||1||

ਐਸੋ ਪ੍ਰਭੁ ਮਨ ਮਾਹਿ ਧਿਆਇ ॥

ऐसो प्रभु मन माहि धिआइ ॥

Aiso prbhu man maahi dhiaai ||

Meditate on such a God in your mind.

ਘਟਿ ਅਵਘਟਿ ਜਤ ਕਤਹਿ ਸਹਾਇ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥

घटि अवघटि जत कतहि सहाइ ॥१॥ रहाउ ॥

Ghati avaghati jat katahi sahaai ||1|| rahaau ||

He shall be your help and support everywhere, in good times and bad. ||1|| Pause ||

ਰੰਕੁ ਰਾਉ ਜਾ ਕੈ ਏਕ ਸਮਾਨਿ ॥

रंकु राउ जा कै एक समानि ॥

Rankku raau jaa kai ek samaani ||

The beggar and the king are all the same to Him.

ਕੀਟ ਹਸਤਿ ਸਗਲ ਪੂਰਾਨ ॥

कीट हसति सगल पूरान ॥

Keet hasati sagal pooraan ||

He sustains and fulfills both the ant and the elephant.

ਬੀਓ ਪੂਛਿ ਨ ਮਸਲਤਿ ਧਰੈ ॥

बीओ पूछि न मसलति धरै ॥

Beeo poochhi na masalati dharai ||

He does not consult or seek anyone's advice.

ਜੋ ਕਿਛੁ ਕਰੈ ਸੁ ਆਪਹਿ ਕਰੈ ॥੨॥

जो किछु करै सु आपहि करै ॥२॥

Jo kichhu karai su aapahi karai ||2||

Whatever He does, He does Himself. ||2||

ਜਾ ਕਾ ਅੰਤੁ ਨ ਜਾਨਸਿ ਕੋਇ ॥

जा का अंतु न जानसि कोइ ॥

Jaa kaa anttu na jaanasi koi ||

No one knows His limit.

ਆਪੇ ਆਪਿ ਨਿਰੰਜਨੁ ਸੋਇ ॥

आपे आपि निरंजनु सोइ ॥

Aape aapi niranjjanu soi ||

He Himself is the Immaculate Lord.

ਆਪਿ ਅਕਾਰੁ ਆਪਿ ਨਿਰੰਕਾਰੁ ॥

आपि अकारु आपि निरंकारु ॥

Aapi akaaru aapi nirankkaaru ||

He Himself is formed, and He Himself is formless.

ਘਟ ਘਟ ਘਟਿ ਸਭ ਘਟ ਆਧਾਰੁ ॥੩॥

घट घट घटि सभ घट आधारु ॥३॥

Ghat ghat ghati sabh ghat aadhaaru ||3||

In the heart, in each and every heart, He is the Support of all hearts. ||3||

ਨਾਮ ਰੰਗਿ ਭਗਤ ਭਏ ਲਾਲ ॥

नाम रंगि भगत भए लाल ॥

Naam ranggi bhagat bhae laal ||

Through the Love of the Naam, the Name of the Lord, the devotees become His Beloveds.

ਜਸੁ ਕਰਤੇ ਸੰਤ ਸਦਾ ਨਿਹਾਲ ॥

जसु करते संत सदा निहाल ॥

Jasu karate santt sadaa nihaal ||

Singing the Praises of the Creator, the Saints are forever in bliss.

ਨਾਮ ਰੰਗਿ ਜਨ ਰਹੇ ਅਘਾਇ ॥

नाम रंगि जन रहे अघाइ ॥

Naam ranggi jan rahe aghaai ||

Through the Love of the Naam, the Lord's humble servants remain satisfied.

ਨਾਨਕ ਤਿਨ ਜਨ ਲਾਗੈ ਪਾਇ ॥੪॥੩॥੫॥

नानक तिन जन लागै पाइ ॥४॥३॥५॥

Naanak tin jan laagai paai ||4||3||5||

Nanak falls at the feet of those humble servants of the Lord. ||4||3||5||

Jaa kai sanggi ihu manu niramalu ||

Associating with them, this mind becomes immaculate and pure.

ਜਾ ਕੈ ਸੰਗਿ ਹਰਿ ਹਰਿ ਸਿਮਰਨੁ ॥

जा कै संगि हरि हरि सिमरनु ॥

Jaa kai sanggi hari hari simaranu ||

Associating with them, one meditates in remembrance on the Lord, Har, Har.

ਜਾ ਕੈ ਸੰਗਿ ਕਿਲਬਿਖ ਹੋਹਿ ਨਾਸ ॥

जा कै संगि किलबिख होहि नास ॥

Jaa kai sanggi kilabikh hohi naas ||

Associating with them, all the sins are erased.

ਜਾ ਕੈ ਸੰਗਿ ਰਿਦੈ ਪਰਗਾਸ ॥੧॥

जा कै संगि रिदै परगास ॥१॥

Jaa kai sanggi ridai paragaas ||1||

Associating with them, the heart is illumined. ||1||

ਸੇ ਸੰਤਨ ਹਰਿ ਕੇ ਮੇਰੇ ਮੀਤ ॥

से संतन हरि के मेरे मीत ॥

Se santtan hari ke mere meet ||

Those Saints of the Lord are my friends.

ਕੇਵਲ ਨਾਮੁ ਗਾਈਐ ਜਾ ਕੈ ਨੀਤ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥

केवल नामु गाईऐ जा कै नीत ॥१॥ रहाउ ॥

Keval naamu gaaeeai jaa kai neet ||1|| rahaau ||

It is their custom to sing only the Naam, the Name of the Lord. ||1|| Pause ||

ਜਾ ਕੈ ਮੰਤ੍ਰਿ ਹਰਿ ਹਰਿ ਮਨਿ ਵਸੈ ॥

जा कै मंत्रि हरि हरि मनि वसै ॥

Jaa kai manttri hari hari mani vasai ||

By their mantra, the Lord, Har, Har, dwells in the mind.

ਜਾ ਕੈ ਉਪਦੇਸਿ ਭਰਮੁ ਭਉ ਨਸੈ ॥

जा कै उपदेसि भरमु भउ नसै ॥

Jaa kai upadesi bharamu bhau nasai ||

By their teachings, doubt and fear are dispelled.

ਜਾ ਕੈ ਕੀਰਤਿ ਨਿਰਮਲ ਸਾਰ ॥

जा कै कीरति निरमल सार ॥

Jaa kai keerati niramal saar ||

By their kirtan, they become immaculate and sublime.

ਜਾ ਕੀ ਰੇਨੁ ਬਾਂਛੈ ਸੰਸਾਰ ॥੨॥

जा की रेनु बांछै संसार ॥२॥

Jaa kee renu baanchhai sanssaar ||2||

The world longs for the dust of their feet. ||2||

ਕੋਟਿ ਪਤਿਤ ਜਾ ਕੈ ਸੰਗਿ ਉਧਾਰ ॥

कोटि पतित जा कै संगि उधार ॥

Koti patit jaa kai sanggi udhaar ||

Millions of sinners are saved by associating with them.

ਏਕੁ ਨਿਰੰਕਾਰੁ ਜਾ ਕੈ ਨਾਮ ਅਧਾਰ ॥

एकु निरंकारु जा कै नाम अधार ॥

Eku nirankkaaru jaa kai naam adhaar ||

They have the Support of the Name of the One Formless Lord.

ਸਰਬ ਜੀਆਂ ਕਾ ਜਾਨੈ ਭੇਉ ॥

सरब जीआं का जानै भेउ ॥

Sarab jeeaan kaa jaanai bheu ||

He knows the secrets of all beings;

ਕ੍ਰਿਪਾ ਨਿਧਾਨ ਨਿਰੰਜਨ ਦੇਉ ॥੩॥

क्रिपा निधान निरंजन देउ ॥३॥

Kripaa nidhaan niranjjan deu ||3||

He is the treasure of mercy, the divine immaculate Lord. ||3||

ਪਾਰਬ੍ਰਹਮ ਜਬ ਭਏ ਕ੍ਰਿਪਾਲ ॥

पारब्रहम जब भए क्रिपाल ॥

Paarabrham jab bhae kripaal ||

When the Supreme Lord God becomes merciful,

ਤਬ ਭੇਟੇ ਗੁਰ ਸਾਧ ਦਇਆਲ ॥

तब भेटे गुर साध दइआल ॥

Tab bhete gur saadh daiaal ||

Then one meets the Merciful Holy Guru.

ਦਿਨੁ ਰੈਣਿ ਨਾਨਕੁ ਨਾਮੁ ਧਿਆਏ ॥

दिनु रैणि नानकु नामु धिआए ॥

Dinu rai(nn)i naanaku naamu dhiaae ||

Day and night, Nanak meditates on the Naam.

ਸੂਖ ਸਹਜ ਆਨੰਦ ਹਰਿ ਨਾਏ ॥੪॥੪॥੬॥

सूख सहज आनंद हरि नाए ॥४॥४॥६॥

Sookh sahaj aanandd hari naae ||4||4||6||

Through the Lord's Name, he is blessed with peace, poise and bliss. ||4||4||6||

ਗੁਰ ਕੀ ਮੂਰਤਿ ਮਨ ਮਹਿ ਧਿਆਨੁ ॥

गुर की मूरति मन महि धिआनु ॥

Gur kee moorati man mahi dhiaanu ||

Meditate on the image of the Guru within your mind;

ਗੁਰ ਕੈ ਸਬਦਿ ਮੰਤ੍ਰੁ ਮਨੁ ਮਾਨ ॥

गुर कै सबदि मंत्रु मनु मान ॥

Gur kai sabadi manttru manu maan ||

Let your mind accept the Word of the Guru's Shabad, and His Mantra.

ਗੁਰ ਕੇ ਚਰਨ ਰਿਦੈ ਲੈ ਧਾਰਉ ॥

गुर के चरन रिदै लै धारउ ॥

Gur ke charan ridai lai dhaarau ||

Enshrine the Guru's feet within your heart.

ਗੁਰੁ ਪਾਰਬ੍ਰਹਮੁ ਸਦਾ ਨਮਸਕਾਰਉ ॥੧॥

गुरु पारब्रहमु सदा नमसकारउ ॥१॥

Guru paarabrhamu sadaa namasakaarau ||1||

Bow in humility forever before the Guru, the Supreme Lord God. ||1||

ਮਤ ਕੋ ਭਰਮਿ ਭੁਲੈ ਸੰਸਾਰਿ ॥

मत को भरमि भुलै संसारि ॥

Mat ko bharami bhulai sanssaari ||

Let no one wander in doubt in the world.

ਗੁਰ ਬਿਨੁ ਕੋਇ ਨ ਉਤਰਸਿ ਪਾਰਿ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥

गुर बिनु कोइ न उतरसि पारि ॥१॥ रहाउ ॥

Gur binu koi na utarasi paari ||1|| rahaau ||

Without the Guru, no one can cross over. ||1|| Pause ||

ਭੂਲੇ ਕਉ ਗੁਰਿ ਮਾਰਗਿ ਪਾਇਆ ॥

भूले कउ गुरि मारगि पाइआ ॥

Bhoole kau guri maaragi paaiaa ||

The Guru shows the Path to those who have wandered off.

ਅਵਰ ਤਿਆਗਿ ਹਰਿ ਭਗਤੀ ਲਾਇਆ ॥

अवर तिआगि हरि भगती लाइआ ॥

Avar tiaagi hari bhagatee laaiaa ||

He leads them to renounce others, and attaches them to devotional worship of the Lord.

ਜਨਮ ਮਰਨ ਕੀ ਤ੍ਰਾਸ ਮਿਟਾਈ ॥

जनम मरन की त्रास मिटाई ॥

Janam maran kee traas mitaaee ||

He obliterates the fear of birth and death.

ਗੁਰ ਪੂਰੇ ਕੀ ਬੇਅੰਤ ਵਡਾਈ ॥੨॥

गुर पूरे की बेअंत वडाई ॥२॥

Gur poore kee beantt vadaaee ||2||

The glorious greatness of the Perfect Guru is endless. ||2||

ਗੁਰ ਪ੍ਰਸਾਦਿ ਊਰਧ ਕਮਲ ਬਿਗਾਸ ॥

गुर प्रसादि ऊरध कमल बिगास ॥

Gur prsaadi uradh kamal bigaas ||

By Guru's Grace, the inverted heart-lotus blossoms forth,

ਅੰਧਕਾਰ ਮਹਿ ਭਇਆ ਪ੍ਰਗਾਸ ॥

अंधकार महि भइआ प्रगास ॥

Anddhakaar mahi bhaiaa prgaas ||

And the Light shines forth in the darkness.

ਜਿਨਿ ਕੀਆ ਸੋ ਗੁਰ ਤੇ ਜਾਨਿਆ ॥

जिनि कीआ सो गुर ते जानिआ ॥

Jini keeaa so gur te jaaniaa ||

Through the Guru, know the One who created you.

ਗੁਰ ਕਿਰਪਾ ਤੇ ਮੁਗਧ ਮਨੁ ਮਾਨਿਆ ॥੩॥

गुर किरपा ते मुगध मनु मानिआ ॥३॥

Gur kirapaa te mugadh manu maaniaa ||3||

By the Guru's Mercy, the foolish mind comes to believe. ||3||

ਗੁਰੁ ਕਰਤਾ ਗੁਰੁ ਕਰਣੈ ਜੋਗੁ ॥

गुरु करता गुरु करणै जोगु ॥

Guru karataa guru kara(nn)ai jogu ||

The Guru is the Creator; the Guru has the power to do everything.

ਗੁਰੁ ਪਰਮੇਸਰੁ ਹੈ ਭੀ ਹੋਗੁ ॥

गुरु परमेसरु है भी होगु ॥

Guru paramesaru hai bhee hogu ||

The Guru is the Transcendent Lord; He is, and always shall be.

ਕਹੁ ਨਾਨਕ ਪ੍ਰਭਿ ਇਹੈ ਜਨਾਈ ॥

कहु नानक प्रभि इहै जनाई ॥

Kahu naanak prbhi ihai janaaee ||

Says Nanak, God has inspired me to know this.

ਬਿਨੁ ਗੁਰ ਮੁਕਤਿ ਨ ਪਾਈਐ ਭਾਈ ॥੪॥੫॥੭॥

बिनु गुर मुकति न पाईऐ भाई ॥४॥५॥७॥

Binu gur mukati na paaeeai bhaaee ||4||5||7||

Without the Guru, liberation is not obtained, O Siblings of Destiny. ||4||5||7||

ਗੁਰੂ ਗੁਰੂ ਗੁਰੁ ਕਰਿ ਮਨ ਮੋਰ ॥

गुरू गुरू गुरु करि मन मोर ॥

Guroo guroo guru kari man mor ||

Chant Guru, Guru, Guru, O my mind.

ਗੁਰੂ ਬਿਨਾ ਮੈ ਨਾਹੀ ਹੋਰ ॥

गुरू बिना मै नाही होर ॥

Guroo binaa mai naahee hor ||

I have no other than the Guru.

ਗੁਰ ਕੀ ਟੇਕ ਰਹਹੁ ਦਿਨੁ ਰਾਤਿ ॥

गुर की टेक रहहु दिनु राति ॥

Gur kee tek rahahu dinu raati ||

I lean upon the Support of the Guru, day and night.

ਜਾ ਕੀ ਕੋਇ ਨ ਮੇਟੈ ਦਾਤਿ ॥੧॥

जा की कोइ न मेटै दाति ॥१॥

Jaa kee koi na metai daati ||1||

No one can decrease His bounty. ||1||

ਗੁਰੁ ਪਰਮੇਸਰੁ ਏਕੋ ਜਾਣੁ ॥

गुरु परमेसरु एको जाणु ॥

Guru paramesaru eko jaa(nn)u ||

Know that the Guru and the Transcendent Lord are One.

ਜੋ ਤਿਸੁ ਭਾਵੈ ਸੋ ਪਰਵਾਣੁ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥

जो तिसु भावै सो परवाणु ॥१॥ रहाउ ॥

Jo tisu bhaavai so paravaa(nn)u ||1|| rahaau ||

Whatever pleases Him is acceptable and approved. ||1|| Pause ||

ਗੁਰ ਚਰਣੀ ਜਾ ਕਾ ਮਨੁ ਲਾਗੈ ॥

गुर चरणी जा का मनु लागै ॥

Gur chara(nn)ee jaa kaa manu laagai ||

One whose mind is attached to the Guru's feet

ਦੂਖੁ ਦਰਦੁ ਭ੍ਰਮੁ ਤਾ ਕਾ ਭਾਗੈ ॥

दूखु दरदु भ्रमु ता का भागै ॥

Dookhu daradu bhrmu taa kaa bhaagai ||

His pains, sufferings and doubts run away.

ਗੁਰ ਕੀ ਸੇਵਾ ਪਾਏ ਮਾਨੁ ॥

गुर की सेवा पाए मानु ॥

Gur kee sevaa paae maanu ||

Serving the Guru, honor is obtained.

ਗੁਰ ਊਪਰਿ ਸਦਾ ਕੁਰਬਾਨੁ ॥੨॥

गुर ऊपरि सदा कुरबानु ॥२॥

Gur upari sadaa kurabaanu ||2||

I am forever a sacrifice to the Guru. ||2||

ਗੁਰ ਕਾ ਦਰਸਨੁ ਦੇਖਿ ਨਿਹਾਲ ॥

गुर का दरसनु देखि निहाल ॥

Gur kaa darasanu dekhi nihaal ||

Gazing upon the Blessed Vision of the Guru's Darshan, I am exalted.

ਗੁਰ ਕੇ ਸੇਵਕ ਕੀ ਪੂਰਨ ਘਾਲ ॥

गुर के सेवक की पूरन घाल ॥

Gur ke sevak kee pooran ghaal ||

The work of the Guru's servant is perfect.

ਗੁਰ ਕੇ ਸੇਵਕ ਕਉ ਦੁਖੁ ਨ ਬਿਆਪੈ ॥

गुर के सेवक कउ दुखु न बिआपै ॥

Gur ke sevak kau dukhu na biaapai ||

Pain does not afflict the Guru's servant.

ਗੁਰ ਕਾ ਸੇਵਕੁ ਦਹ ਦਿਸਿ ਜਾਪੈ ॥੩॥

गुर का सेवकु दह दिसि जापै ॥३॥

Gur kaa sevaku dah disi jaapai ||3||

The Guru's servant is famous in the ten directions. ||3||

ਗੁਰ ਕੀ ਮਹਿਮਾ ਕਥਨੁ ਨ ਜਾਇ ॥

गुर की महिमा कथनु न जाइ ॥

Gur kee mahimaa kathanu na jaai ||

The Guru's glory cannot be described.

ਪਾਰਬ੍ਰਹਮੁ ਗੁਰੁ ਰਹਿਆ ਸਮਾਇ ॥

पारब्रहमु गुरु रहिआ समाइ ॥

Paarabrhamu guru rahiaa samaai ||

The Guru remains absorbed in the Supreme Lord God.

ਕਹੁ ਨਾਨਕ ਜਾ ਕੇ ਪੂਰੇ ਭਾਗ ॥

कहु नानक जा के पूरे भाग ॥

Kahu naanak jaa ke poore bhaag ||

Says Nanak, one who is blessed with perfect destiny

ਗੁਰ ਚਰਣੀ ਤਾ ਕਾ ਮਨੁ ਲਾਗ ॥੪॥੬॥੮॥

गुर चरणी ता का मनु लाग ॥४॥६॥८॥

Gur chara(nn)ee taa kaa manu laag ||4||6||8||

- his mind is attached to the Guru's feet. ||4||6||8||

ਗੁਰੁ ਮੇਰੀ ਪੂਜਾ ਗੁਰੁ ਗੋਬਿੰਦੁ ॥

गुरु मेरी पूजा गुरु गोबिंदु ॥

Guru meree poojaa guru gobinddu ||

I worship and adore my Guru; the Guru is the Lord of the Universe.

ਗੁਰੁ ਮੇਰਾ ਪਾਰਬ੍ਰਹਮੁ ਗੁਰੁ ਭਗਵੰਤੁ ॥

गुरु मेरा पारब्रहमु गुरु भगवंतु ॥

Guru meraa paarabrhamu guru bhagavanttu ||

My Guru is the Supreme Lord God; the Guru is the Lord God.

ਗੁਰੁ ਮੇਰਾ ਦੇਉ ਅਲਖ ਅਭੇਉ ॥

गुरु मेरा देउ अलख अभेउ ॥

Guru meraa deu alakh abheu ||

My Guru is divine, invisible and mysterious.

ਸਰਬ ਪੂਜ ਚਰਨ ਗੁਰ ਸੇਉ ॥੧॥

सरब पूज चरन गुर सेउ ॥१॥

Sarab pooj charan gur seu ||1||

I serve at the Guru's feet, which are worshipped by all. ||1||

ਗੁਰ ਬਿਨੁ ਅਵਰੁ ਨਾਹੀ ਮੈ ਥਾਉ ॥

गुर बिनु अवरु नाही मै थाउ ॥

Gur binu avaru naahee mai thaau ||

Without the Guru, I have no other place at all.

ਅਨਦਿਨੁ ਜਪਉ ਗੁਰੂ ਗੁਰ ਨਾਉ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥

अनदिनु जपउ गुरू गुर नाउ ॥१॥ रहाउ ॥

Anadinu japau guroo gur naau ||1|| rahaau ||

Night and day, I chant the Name of Guru, Guru. ||1|| Pause ||

ਗੁਰੁ ਮੇਰਾ ਗਿਆਨੁ ਗੁਰੁ ਰਿਦੈ ਧਿਆਨੁ ॥

गुरु मेरा गिआनु गुरु रिदै धिआनु ॥

Guru meraa giaanu guru ridai dhiaanu ||

The Guru is my spiritual wisdom, the Guru is the meditation within my heart.

ਗੁਰੁ ਗੋਪਾਲੁ ਪੁਰਖੁ ਭਗਵਾਨੁ ॥

गुरु गोपालु पुरखु भगवानु ॥

Guru gopaalu purakhu bhagavaanu ||

The Guru is the Lord of the World, the Primal Being, the Lord God.

ਗੁਰ ਕੀ ਸਰਣਿ ਰਹਉ ਕਰ ਜੋਰਿ ॥

गुर की सरणि रहउ कर जोरि ॥

Gur kee sara(nn)i rahau kar jori ||

With my palms pressed together, I remain in the Guru's Sanctuary.

ਗੁਰੂ ਬਿਨਾ ਮੈ ਨਾਹੀ ਹੋਰੁ ॥੨॥

गुरू बिना मै नाही होरु ॥२॥

Guroo binaa mai naahee horu ||2||

Without the Guru, I have no other at all. ||2||

ਗੁਰੁ ਬੋਹਿਥੁ ਤਾਰੇ ਭਵ ਪਾਰਿ ॥

गुरु बोहिथु तारे भव पारि ॥

Guru bohithu taare bhav paari ||

The Guru is the boat to cross over the terrifying world-ocean.

ਗੁਰ ਸੇਵਾ ਜਮ ਤੇ ਛੁਟਕਾਰਿ ॥

गुर सेवा जम ते छुटकारि ॥

Gur sevaa jam te chhutakaari ||

Serving the Guru, one is released from the Messenger of Death.

ਅੰਧਕਾਰ ਮਹਿ ਗੁਰ ਮੰਤ੍ਰੁ ਉਜਾਰਾ ॥

अंधकार महि गुर मंत्रु उजारा ॥

Anddhakaar mahi gur manttru ujaaraa ||

In the darkness, the Guru's Mantra shines forth.

ਗੁਰ ਕੈ ਸੰਗਿ ਸਗਲ ਨਿਸਤਾਰਾ ॥੩॥

गुर कै संगि सगल निसतारा ॥३॥

Gur kai sanggi sagal nisataaraa ||3||

With the Guru, all are saved. ||3||

ਗੁਰੁ ਪੂਰਾ ਪਾਈਐ ਵਡਭਾਗੀ ॥

गुरु पूरा पाईऐ वडभागी ॥

Guru pooraa paaeeai vadabhaagee ||

The Perfect Guru is found, by great good fortune.

ਗੁਰ ਕੀ ਸੇਵਾ ਦੂਖੁ ਨ ਲਾਗੀ ॥

गुर की सेवा दूखु न लागी ॥

Gur kee sevaa dookhu na laagee ||

Serving the Guru, pain does not afflict anyone.

ਗੁਰ ਕਾ ਸਬਦੁ ਨ ਮੇਟੈ ਕੋਇ ॥

गुर का सबदु न मेटै कोइ ॥

Gur kaa sabadu na metai koi ||

No one can erase the Word of the Guru's Shabad.

ਗੁਰੁ ਨਾਨਕੁ ਨਾਨਕੁ ਹਰਿ ਸੋਇ ॥੪॥੭॥੯॥

गुरु नानकु नानकु हरि सोइ ॥४॥७॥९॥

Guru naanaku naanaku hari soi ||4||7||9||

Nanak is the Guru; Nanak is the Lord Himself. ||4||7||9||

Deal and trade only with the Lord, Raam, Raam.

ਰਾਮ ਰਾਮ ਰਾਮ ਪ੍ਰਾਨ ਅਧਾਰ ॥

राम राम राम प्रान अधार ॥

Raam raam raam praan adhaar ||

The Lord, Raam, Raam, Raam, is the Support of the breath of life.

ਰਾਮ ਰਾਮ ਰਾਮ ਕੀਰਤਨੁ ਗਾਇ ॥

राम राम राम कीरतनु गाइ ॥

Raam raam raam keeratanu gaai ||

Sing the Kirtan of the Praises of the Lord, Raam, Raam, Raam.

ਰਮਤ ਰਾਮੁ ਸਭ ਰਹਿਓ ਸਮਾਇ ॥੧॥

रमत रामु सभ रहिओ समाइ ॥१॥

Ramat raamu sabh rahio samaai ||1||

The Lord is ever-present, all-pervading. ||1||

ਸੰਤ ਜਨਾ ਮਿਲਿ ਬੋਲਹੁ ਰਾਮ ॥

संत जना मिलि बोलहु राम ॥

Santt janaa mili bolahu raam ||

Joining the humble Saints, chant the Lord's Name.

ਸਭ ਤੇ ਨਿਰਮਲ ਪੂਰਨ ਕਾਮ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥

सभ ते निरमल पूरन काम ॥१॥ रहाउ ॥

Sabh te niramal pooran kaam ||1|| rahaau ||

This is the most immaculate and perfect occupation of all. ||1|| Pause ||

ਰਾਮ ਰਾਮ ਧਨੁ ਸੰਚਿ ਭੰਡਾਰ ॥

राम राम धनु संचि भंडार ॥

Raam raam dhanu sancchi bhanddaar ||

Gather the treasure, the wealth of the Lord, Raam, Raam.

ਰਾਮ ਰਾਮ ਰਾਮ ਕਰਿ ਆਹਾਰ ॥

राम राम राम करि आहार ॥

Raam raam raam kari aahaar ||

Let your sustenance be the Lord, Raam, Raam, Raam.

ਰਾਮ ਰਾਮ ਵੀਸਰਿ ਨਹੀ ਜਾਇ ॥

राम राम वीसरि नही जाइ ॥

Raam raam veesari nahee jaai ||

Never forget the Lord, Raam, Raam.

ਕਰਿ ਕਿਰਪਾ ਗੁਰਿ ਦੀਆ ਬਤਾਇ ॥੨॥

करि किरपा गुरि दीआ बताइ ॥२॥

Kari kirapaa guri deeaa bataai ||2||

In His Mercy, the Guru has revealed this to me. ||2||

ਰਾਮ ਰਾਮ ਰਾਮ ਸਦਾ ਸਹਾਇ ॥

राम राम राम सदा सहाइ ॥

Raam raam raam sadaa sahaai ||

The Lord, Raam, Raam, Raam, is always our help and support.

ਰਾਮ ਰਾਮ ਰਾਮ ਲਿਵ ਲਾਇ ॥

राम राम राम लिव लाइ ॥

Raam raam raam liv laai ||

Embrace love for the Lord, Raam, Raam, Raam.

ਰਾਮ ਰਾਮ ਜਪਿ ਨਿਰਮਲ ਭਏ ॥

राम राम जपि निरमल भए ॥

Raam raam japi niramal bhae ||

Through the Lord, Raam, Raam, Raam, I have become immaculate.

ਜਨਮ ਜਨਮ ਕੇ ਕਿਲਬਿਖ ਗਏ ॥੩॥

जनम जनम के किलबिख गए ॥३॥

Janam janam ke kilabikh gae ||3||

The sins of countless incarnations have been taken away. ||3||

ਰਮਤ ਰਾਮ ਜਨਮ ਮਰਣੁ ਨਿਵਾਰੈ ॥

रमत राम जनम मरणु निवारै ॥

Ramat raam janam mara(nn)u nivaarai ||

Uttering the Lord's Name, birth and death are finished.

ਉਚਰਤ ਰਾਮ ਭੈ ਪਾਰਿ ਉਤਾਰੈ ॥

उचरत राम भै पारि उतारै ॥

Ucharat raam bhai paari utaarai ||

Repeating the Lord's Name, one crosses over the terrifying world-ocean.

ਸਭ ਤੇ ਊਚ ਰਾਮ ਪਰਗਾਸ ॥

सभ ते ऊच राम परगास ॥

Sabh te uch raam paragaas ||

The Luminous Lord is the highest of all.

ਨਿਸਿ ਬਾਸੁਰ ਜਪਿ ਨਾਨਕ ਦਾਸ ॥੪॥੮॥੧੦॥

निसि बासुर जपि नानक दास ॥४॥८॥१०॥

Nisi baasur japi naanak daas ||4||8||10||

Night and day, servant Nanak meditates on Him. ||4||8||10||

ਉਨ ਕਉ ਖਸਮਿ ਕੀਨੀ ਠਾਕਹਾਰੇ ॥

उन कउ खसमि कीनी ठाकहारे ॥

Un kau khasami keenee thaakahaare ||

My Lord and Master has held back the five demons.

ਦਾਸ ਸੰਗ ਤੇ ਮਾਰਿ ਬਿਦਾਰੇ ॥

दास संग ते मारि बिदारे ॥

Daas sangg te maari bidaare ||

He conquered them, and scared them away from the Lord's slave.

ਗੋਬਿੰਦ ਭਗਤ ਕਾ ਮਹਲੁ ਨ ਪਾਇਆ ॥

गोबिंद भगत का महलु न पाइआ ॥

Gobindd bhagat kaa mahalu na paaiaa ||

They cannot find the mansion of the Lord's devotee.

ਰਾਮ ਜਨਾ ਮਿਲਿ ਮੰਗਲੁ ਗਾਇਆ ॥੧॥

राम जना मिलि मंगलु गाइआ ॥१॥

Raam janaa mili manggalu gaaiaa ||1||

Joining together, the Lord's humble servants sing the songs of joy. ||1||

ਸਗਲ ਸ੍ਰਿਸਟਿ ਕੇ ਪੰਚ ਸਿਕਦਾਰ ॥

सगल स्रिसटि के पंच सिकदार ॥

Sagal srisati ke pancch sikadaar ||

The five demons are the rulers of the whole world,

ਰਾਮ ਭਗਤ ਕੇ ਪਾਨੀਹਾਰ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥

राम भगत के पानीहार ॥१॥ रहाउ ॥

Raam bhagat ke paaneehaar ||1|| rahaau ||

But they are just water-carriers for the Lord's devotee. ||1|| Pause ||

ਜਗਤ ਪਾਸ ਤੇ ਲੇਤੇ ਦਾਨੁ ॥

जगत पास ते लेते दानु ॥

Jagat paas te lete daanu ||

They collect taxes from the world,

ਗੋਬਿੰਦ ਭਗਤ ਕਉ ਕਰਹਿ ਸਲਾਮੁ ॥

गोबिंद भगत कउ करहि सलामु ॥

Gobindd bhagat kau karahi salaamu ||

But they bow in subservience to God's devotees.

ਲੂਟਿ ਲੇਹਿ ਸਾਕਤ ਪਤਿ ਖੋਵਹਿ ॥

लूटि लेहि साकत पति खोवहि ॥

Looti lehi saakat pati khovahi ||

They plunder and dishonor the faithless cynics,

ਸਾਧ ਜਨਾ ਪਗ ਮਲਿ ਮਲਿ ਧੋਵਹਿ ॥੨॥

साध जना पग मलि मलि धोवहि ॥२॥

Saadh janaa pag mali mali dhovahi ||2||

But they massage and wash the feet of the Holy. ||2||

ਪੰਚ ਪੂਤ ਜਣੇ ਇਕ ਮਾਇ ॥

पंच पूत जणे इक माइ ॥

Pancch poot ja(nn)e ik maai ||

The One Mother gave birth to the five sons,

ਉਤਭੁਜ ਖੇਲੁ ਕਰਿ ਜਗਤ ਵਿਆਇ ॥

उतभुज खेलु करि जगत विआइ ॥

Utabhuj khelu kari jagat viaai ||

And began the play of the created world.

ਤੀਨਿ ਗੁਣਾ ਕੈ ਸੰਗਿ ਰਚਿ ਰਸੇ ॥

तीनि गुणा कै संगि रचि रसे ॥

Teeni gu(nn)aa kai sanggi rachi rase ||

With the three qualities joined together, they celebrate.

ਇਨ ਕਉ ਛੋਡਿ ਊਪਰਿ ਜਨ ਬਸੇ ॥੩॥

इन कउ छोडि ऊपरि जन बसे ॥३॥

In kau chhodi upari jan base ||3||

Renouncing these three qualities, the Lord's humble servants rise above them. ||3||

ਕਰਿ ਕਿਰਪਾ ਜਨ ਲੀਏ ਛਡਾਇ ॥

करि किरपा जन लीए छडाइ ॥

Kari kirapaa jan leee chhadaai ||

In His Mercy, He saves His humble servants.

ਜਿਸ ਕੇ ਸੇ ਤਿਨਿ ਰਖੇ ਹਟਾਇ ॥

जिस के से तिनि रखे हटाइ ॥

Jis ke se tini rakhe hataai ||

They belong to Him, and so He saves them by driving out the five.

ਕਹੁ ਨਾਨਕ ਭਗਤਿ ਪ੍ਰਭ ਸਾਰੁ ॥

कहु नानक भगति प्रभ सारु ॥

Kahu naanak bhagati prbh saaru ||

Says Nanak, devotion to God is noble and sublime.

ਬਿਨੁ ਭਗਤੀ ਸਭ ਹੋਇ ਖੁਆਰੁ ॥੪॥੯॥੧੧॥

बिनु भगती सभ होइ खुआरु ॥४॥९॥११॥

Binu bhagatee sabh hoi khuaaru ||4||9||11||

Without devotion, all just waste away uselessly. ||4||9||11||

ਕਲਿ ਕਲੇਸ ਮਿਟੇ ਹਰਿ ਨਾਇ ॥

कलि कलेस मिटे हरि नाइ ॥

Kali kales mite hari naai ||

Suffering and troubles are eradicated by the Lord's Name.

ਦੁਖ ਬਿਨਸੇ ਸੁਖ ਕੀਨੋ ਠਾਉ ॥

दुख बिनसे सुख कीनो ठाउ ॥

Dukh binase sukh keeno thaau ||

Pain is dispelled, and peace takes its place.

ਜਪਿ ਜਪਿ ਅੰਮ੍ਰਿਤ ਨਾਮੁ ਅਘਾਏ ॥

जपि जपि अम्रित नामु अघाए ॥

Japi japi ammmrit naamu aghaae ||

Meditating, chanting the Ambrosial Naam, the Name of the Lord, I am satisfied.

ਸੰਤ ਪ੍ਰਸਾਦਿ ਸਗਲ ਫਲ ਪਾਏ ॥੧॥

संत प्रसादि सगल फल पाए ॥१॥

Santt prsaadi sagal phal paae ||1||

By the Grace of the Saints, I have received all fruitful rewards. ||1||

ਰਾਮ ਜਪਤ ਜਨ ਪਾਰਿ ਪਰੇ ॥

राम जपत जन पारि परे ॥

Raam japat jan paari pare ||

Meditating on the Lord, His humble servant is carried across,

ਜਨਮ ਜਨਮ ਕੇ ਪਾਪ ਹਰੇ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥

जनम जनम के पाप हरे ॥१॥ रहाउ ॥

Janam janam ke paap hare ||1|| rahaau ||

And the sins of countless incarnations are taken away. ||1|| Pause ||

ਗੁਰ ਕੇ ਚਰਨ ਰਿਦੈ ਉਰਿ ਧਾਰੇ ॥

गुर के चरन रिदै उरि धारे ॥

Gur ke charan ridai uri dhaare ||

I have enshrined the Guru's feet within my heart,

ਅਗਨਿ ਸਾਗਰ ਤੇ ਉਤਰੇ ਪਾਰੇ ॥

अगनि सागर ते उतरे पारे ॥

Agani saagar te utare paare ||

And crossed over the ocean of fire.

ਜਨਮ ਮਰਣ ਸਭ ਮਿਟੀ ਉਪਾਧਿ ॥

जनम मरण सभ मिटी उपाधि ॥

Janam mara(nn) sabh mitee upaadhi ||

All the painful diseases of birth and death have been eradicated.

ਪ੍ਰਭ ਸਿਉ ਲਾਗੀ ਸਹਜਿ ਸਮਾਧਿ ॥੨॥

प्रभ सिउ लागी सहजि समाधि ॥२॥

Prbh siu laagee sahaji samaadhi ||2||

I am attached to God in celestial Samaadhi. ||2||

ਥਾਨ ਥਨੰਤਰਿ ਏਕੋ ਸੁਆਮੀ ॥

थान थनंतरि एको सुआमी ॥

Thaan thananttari eko suaamee ||

In all places and interspaces, the One, our Lord and Master is contained.

ਸਗਲ ਘਟਾ ਕਾ ਅੰਤਰਜਾਮੀ ॥

सगल घटा का अंतरजामी ॥

Sagal ghataa kaa anttarajaamee ||

He is the Inner-knower of all hearts.

ਕਰਿ ਕਿਰਪਾ ਜਾ ਕਉ ਮਤਿ ਦੇਇ ॥

करि किरपा जा कउ मति देइ ॥

Kari kirapaa jaa kau mati dei ||

One whom the Lord blesses with understanding,

ਆਠ ਪਹਰ ਪ੍ਰਭ ਕਾ ਨਾਉ ਲੇਇ ॥੩॥

आठ पहर प्रभ का नाउ लेइ ॥३॥

Aath pahar prbh kaa naau lei ||3||

Chants the Name of God, twenty-four hours a day. ||3||

ਜਾ ਕੈ ਅੰਤਰਿ ਵਸੈ ਪ੍ਰਭੁ ਆਪਿ ॥

जा कै अंतरि वसै प्रभु आपि ॥

Jaa kai anttari vasai prbhu aapi ||

Deep within, God Himself abides;

ਤਾ ਕੈ ਹਿਰਦੈ ਹੋਇ ਪ੍ਰਗਾਸੁ ॥

ता कै हिरदै होइ प्रगासु ॥

Taa kai hiradai hoi prgaasu ||

Within his heart, the Divine Light shines forth.

ਭਗਤਿ ਭਾਇ ਹਰਿ ਕੀਰਤਨੁ ਕਰੀਐ ॥

भगति भाइ हरि कीरतनु करीऐ ॥

Bhagati bhaai hari keeratanu kareeai ||

With loving devotion, sing the Kirtan of the Lord's Praises.

ਜਪਿ ਪਾਰਬ੍ਰਹਮੁ ਨਾਨਕ ਨਿਸਤਰੀਐ ॥੪॥੧੦॥੧੨॥

जपि पारब्रहमु नानक निसतरीऐ ॥४॥१०॥१२॥

Japi paarabrhamu naanak nisatareeai ||4||10||12||

Meditate on the Supreme Lord God, O Nanak, and you shall be saved. ||4||10||12||

ਗੋਂਡ ਮਹਲਾ ੫ ॥

गोंड महला ५ ॥

Gond mahalaa 5 ||

Gond, Fifth Mehl:

ਗੁਰ ਕੇ ਚਰਨ ਕਮਲ ਨਮਸਕਾਰਿ ॥

गुर के चरन कमल नमसकारि ॥

Gur ke charan kamal namasakaari ||

Bow in humility to the lotus feet of the Guru.

ਕਾਮੁ ਕ੍ਰੋਧੁ ਇਸੁ ਤਨ ਤੇ ਮਾਰਿ ॥

कामु क्रोधु इसु तन ते मारि ॥

Kaamu krodhu isu tan te maari ||

Eliminate sexual desire and anger from this body.

ਹੋਇ ਰਹੀਐ ਸਗਲ ਕੀ ਰੀਨਾ ॥

होइ रहीऐ सगल की रीना ॥

Hoi raheeai sagal kee reenaa ||

Be the dust of all,

ਘਟਿ ਘਟਿ ਰਮਈਆ ਸਭ ਮਹਿ ਚੀਨਾ ॥੧॥

घटि घटि रमईआ सभ महि चीना ॥१॥

Ghati ghati ramaeeaa sabh mahi cheenaa ||1||

And see the Lord in each and every heart, in all. ||1||

ਇਨ ਬਿਧਿ ਰਮਹੁ ਗੋਪਾਲ ਗੋੁਬਿੰਦੁ ॥

इन बिधि रमहु गोपाल गोबिंदु ॥

In bidhi ramahu gopaal gaobinddu ||

In this way, dwell upon the Lord of the World, the Lord of the Universe.

ਤਨੁ ਧਨੁ ਪ੍ਰਭ ਕਾ ਪ੍ਰਭ ਕੀ ਜਿੰਦੁ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥

तनु धनु प्रभ का प्रभ की जिंदु ॥१॥ रहाउ ॥

Tanu dhanu prbh kaa prbh kee jinddu ||1|| rahaau ||

My body and wealth belong to God; my soul belongs to God. ||1|| Pause ||

ਆਠ ਪਹਰ ਹਰਿ ਕੇ ਗੁਣ ਗਾਉ ॥

आठ पहर हरि के गुण गाउ ॥

Aath pahar hari ke gu(nn) gaau ||

Twenty-four hours a day, sing the Glorious Praises of the Lord.

ਜੀਅ ਪ੍ਰਾਨ ਕੋ ਇਹੈ ਸੁਆਉ ॥

जीअ प्रान को इहै सुआउ ॥

Jeea praan ko ihai suaau ||

This is the purpose of human life.

ਤਜਿ ਅਭਿਮਾਨੁ ਜਾਨੁ ਪ੍ਰਭੁ ਸੰਗਿ ॥

तजि अभिमानु जानु प्रभु संगि ॥

Taji abhimaanu jaanu prbhu sanggi ||

Renounce your egotistical pride, and know that God is with you.

ਸਾਧ ਪ੍ਰਸਾਦਿ ਹਰਿ ਸਿਉ ਮਨੁ ਰੰਗਿ ॥੨॥

साध प्रसादि हरि सिउ मनु रंगि ॥२॥

Saadh prsaadi hari siu manu ranggi ||2||

By the Grace of the Holy, let your mind be imbued with the Lord's Love. ||2||

ਜਿਨਿ ਤੂੰ ਕੀਆ ਤਿਸ ਕਉ ਜਾਨੁ ॥

जिनि तूं कीआ तिस कउ जानु ॥

Jini toonn keeaa tis kau jaanu ||

Know the One who created you,

ਆਗੈ ਦਰਗਹ ਪਾਵੈ ਮਾਨੁ ॥

आगै दरगह पावै मानु ॥

Aagai daragah paavai maanu ||

And in the world hereafter you shall be honored in the Court of the Lord.

ਮਨੁ ਤਨੁ ਨਿਰਮਲ ਹੋਇ ਨਿਹਾਲੁ ॥

मनु तनु निरमल होइ निहालु ॥

Manu tanu niramal hoi nihaalu ||

Your mind and body will be immaculate and blissful;

ਰਸਨਾ ਨਾਮੁ ਜਪਤ ਗੋਪਾਲ ॥੩॥

रसना नामु जपत गोपाल ॥३॥

Rasanaa naamu japat gopaal ||3||

Chant the Name of the Lord of the Universe with your tongue. ||3||

ਕਰਿ ਕਿਰਪਾ ਮੇਰੇ ਦੀਨ ਦਇਆਲਾ ॥

करि किरपा मेरे दीन दइआला ॥

Kari kirapaa mere deen daiaalaa ||

Grant Your Kind Mercy, O my Lord, Merciful to the meek.
