ਨਾਮਿ ਰਤੇ ਗੁਰ ਸਬਦਿ ਸੁਹਾਏ ॥੪॥

नामि रते गुर सबदि सुहाए ॥४॥

Naami rate gur sabadi suhaae ||4||

Imbued with the Naam, he is embellished with the Word of the Guru's Shabad. ||4||

ਲਾਹਾ ਨਾਮੁ ਪਾਏ ਗੁਰ ਦੁਆਰਿ ॥

लाहा नामु पाए गुर दुआरि ॥

Laahaa naamu paae gur duaari ||

The profit of the Naam is obtained through the Door of the Guru.

ਆਪੇ ਦੇਵੈ ਦੇਵਣਹਾਰੁ ॥

आपे देवै देवणहारु ॥

Aape devai deva(nn)ahaaru ||

The Great Giver Himself gives it.

ਜੋ ਦੇਵੈ ਤਿਸ ਕਉ ਬਲਿ ਜਾਈਐ ॥

जो देवै तिस कउ बलि जाईऐ ॥

Jo devai tis kau bali jaaeeai ||

I am a sacrifice to the One who gives it.

ਗੁਰ ਪਰਸਾਦੀ ਆਪੁ ਗਵਾਈਐ ॥

गुर परसादी आपु गवाईऐ ॥

Gur parasaadee aapu gavaaeeai ||

By Guru's Grace, self-conceit is eradicated.

ਨਾਨਕ ਨਾਮੁ ਰਖਹੁ ਉਰ ਧਾਰਿ ॥

नानक नामु रखहु उर धारि ॥

Naanak naamu rakhahu ur dhaari ||

O Nanak, enshrine the Naam within your heart.

ਦੇਵਣਹਾਰੇ ਕਉ ਜੈਕਾਰੁ ॥੫॥

देवणहारे कउ जैकारु ॥५॥

Deva(nn)ahaare kau jaikaaru ||5||

I celebrate the victory of the Lord, the Great Giver. ||5||

ਵੀਰਵਾਰਿ ਵੀਰ ਭਰਮਿ ਭੁਲਾਏ ॥

वीरवारि वीर भरमि भुलाए ॥

Veeravaari veer bharami bhulaae ||

Thursday: The fifty-two warriors were deluded by doubt.

ਪ੍ਰੇਤ ਭੂਤ ਸਭਿ ਦੂਜੈ ਲਾਏ ॥

प्रेत भूत सभि दूजै लाए ॥

Pret bhoot sabhi doojai laae ||

All the goblins and demons are attached to duality.

ਆਪਿ ਉਪਾਏ ਕਰਿ ਵੇਖੈ ਵੇਕਾ ॥

आपि उपाए करि वेखै वेका ॥

Aapi upaae kari vekhai vekaa ||

God Himself created them, and sees each one distinct.

ਸਭਨਾ ਕਰਤੇ ਤੇਰੀ ਟੇਕਾ ॥

सभना करते तेरी टेका ॥

Sabhanaa karate teree tekaa ||

O Creator Lord, You are the Support of all.

ਜੀਅ ਜੰਤ ਤੇਰੀ ਸਰਣਾਈ ॥

जीअ जंत तेरी सरणाई ॥

Jeea jantt teree sara(nn)aaee ||

The beings and creatures are under Your protection.

ਸੋ ਮਿਲੈ ਜਿਸੁ ਲੈਹਿ ਮਿਲਾਈ ॥੬॥

सो मिलै जिसु लैहि मिलाई ॥६॥

So milai jisu laihi milaaee ||6||

He alone meets You, whom You Yourself meet. ||6||

ਸੁਕ੍ਰਵਾਰਿ ਪ੍ਰਭੁ ਰਹਿਆ ਸਮਾਈ ॥

सुक्रवारि प्रभु रहिआ समाई ॥

Sukrvaari prbhu rahiaa samaaee ||

Friday: God is permeating and pervading everywhere.

ਆਪਿ ਉਪਾਇ ਸਭ ਕੀਮਤਿ ਪਾਈ ॥

आपि उपाइ सभ कीमति पाई ॥

Aapi upaai sabh keemati paaee ||

He Himself created all, and appraises the value of all.

ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿ ਹੋਵੈ ਸੁ ਕਰੈ ਬੀਚਾਰੁ ॥

गुरमुखि होवै सु करै बीचारु ॥

Guramukhi hovai su karai beechaaru ||

One who become Gurmukh, contemplates the Lord.

ਸਚੁ ਸੰਜਮੁ ਕਰਣੀ ਹੈ ਕਾਰ ॥

सचु संजमु करणी है कार ॥

Sachu sanjjamu kara(nn)ee hai kaar ||

He practices truth and self-restraint.

ਵਰਤੁ ਨੇਮੁ ਨਿਤਾਪ੍ਰਤਿ ਪੂਜਾ ॥

वरतु नेमु निताप्रति पूजा ॥

Varatu nemu nitaaprti poojaa ||

All fasts, religious rituals and daily worship services,

ਬਿਨੁ ਬੂਝੇ ਸਭੁ ਭਾਉ ਹੈ ਦੂਜਾ ॥੭॥

बिनु बूझे सभु भाउ है दूजा ॥७॥

Binu boojhe sabhu bhaau hai doojaa ||7||

without genuine understanding lead only to the love of duality. ||7||

ਛਨਿਛਰਵਾਰਿ ਸਉਣ ਸਾਸਤ ਬੀਚਾਰੁ ॥

छनिछरवारि सउण सासत बीचारु ॥

Chhanichharavaari sau(nn) saasat beechaaru ||

Saturday: Contemplating good omens and the Shaastras,

ਹਉਮੈ ਮੇਰਾ ਭਰਮੈ ਸੰਸਾਰੁ ॥

हउमै मेरा भरमै संसारु ॥

Haumai meraa bharamai sanssaaru ||

In egotism and self-conceit, the world wanders in delusion.

ਮਨਮੁਖੁ ਅੰਧਾ ਦੂਜੈ ਭਾਇ ॥

मनमुखु अंधा दूजै भाइ ॥

Manamukhu anddhaa doojai bhaai ||

The blind, self-willed manmukh in engrossed in the love of duality.

ਜਮ ਦਰਿ ਬਾਧਾ ਚੋਟਾ ਖਾਇ ॥

जम दरि बाधा चोटा खाइ ॥

Jam dari baadhaa chotaa khaai ||

Bound and gagged at death's door, he is beaten and punished.

ਗੁਰ ਪਰਸਾਦੀ ਸਦਾ ਸੁਖੁ ਪਾਏ ॥

गुर परसादी सदा सुखु पाए ॥

Gur parasaadee sadaa sukhu paae ||

By Guru's Grace, one finds lasting peace.

ਸਚੁ ਕਰਣੀ ਸਾਚਿ ਲਿਵ ਲਾਏ ॥੮॥

सचु करणी साचि लिव लाए ॥८॥

Sachu kara(nn)ee saachi liv laae ||8||

He practices Truth, and lovingly focuses on the Truth. ||8||

ਸਤਿਗੁਰੁ ਸੇਵਹਿ ਸੇ ਵਡਭਾਗੀ ॥

सतिगुरु सेवहि से वडभागी ॥

Satiguru sevahi se vadabhaagee ||

Those who serve the True Guru are very fortunate.

ਹਉਮੈ ਮਾਰਿ ਸਚਿ ਲਿਵ ਲਾਗੀ ॥

हउमै मारि सचि लिव लागी ॥

Haumai maari sachi liv laagee ||

Conquering their ego, they embrace love for the True Lord.

ਤੇਰੈ ਰੰਗਿ ਰਾਤੇ ਸਹਜਿ ਸੁਭਾਇ ॥

तेरै रंगि राते सहजि सुभाइ ॥

Terai ranggi raate sahaji subhaai ||

They are automatically imbued with Your Love, O Lord.

ਤੂ ਸੁਖਦਾਤਾ ਲੈਹਿ ਮਿਲਾਇ ॥

तू सुखदाता लैहि मिलाइ ॥

Too sukhadaataa laihi milaai ||

You are the Giver of peace; You merge them into Yourself.

ਏਕਸ ਤੇ ਦੂਜਾ ਨਾਹੀ ਕੋਇ ॥

एकस ते दूजा नाही कोइ ॥

Ekas te doojaa naahee koi ||

Everything comes from the One and only Lord; there is no other at all.

ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿ ਬੂਝੈ ਸੋਝੀ ਹੋਇ ॥੯॥

गुरमुखि बूझै सोझी होइ ॥९॥

Guramukhi boojhai sojhee hoi ||9||

The Gurmukh realizes this, and understands. ||9||

ਪੰਦ੍ਰਹ ਥਿਤੀਂ ਤੈ ਸਤ ਵਾਰ ॥

पंद्रह थितीं तै सत वार ॥

Panddrh thiteen tai sat vaar ||

The fifteen lunar days, the seven days of the week,

ਮਾਹਾ ਰੁਤੀ ਆਵਹਿ ਵਾਰ ਵਾਰ ॥

माहा रुती आवहि वार वार ॥

Maahaa rutee aavahi vaar vaar ||

The months, seasons, days and nights, come over and over again;

ਦਿਨਸੁ ਰੈਣਿ ਤਿਵੈ ਸੰਸਾਰੁ ॥

दिनसु रैणि तिवै संसारु ॥

Dinasu rai(nn)i tivai sanssaaru ||

So the world goes on.

ਆਵਾ ਗਉਣੁ ਕੀਆ ਕਰਤਾਰਿ ॥

आवा गउणु कीआ करतारि ॥

Aavaa gau(nn)u keeaa karataari ||

Coming and going were created by the Creator Lord.

ਨਿਹਚਲੁ ਸਾਚੁ ਰਹਿਆ ਕਲ ਧਾਰਿ ॥

निहचलु साचु रहिआ कल धारि ॥

Nihachalu saachu rahiaa kal dhaari ||

The True Lord remains steady and stable, by His almighty power.

ਨਾਨਕ ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿ ਬੂਝੈ ਕੋ ਸਬਦੁ ਵੀਚਾਰਿ ॥੧੦॥੧॥

नानक गुरमुखि बूझै को सबदु वीचारि ॥१०॥१॥

Naanak guramukhi boojhai ko sabadu veechaari ||10||1||

O Nanak, how rare is that Gurmukh who understands, and contemplates the Naam, the Name of the Lord. ||10||1||

ਬਿਲਾਵਲੁ ਮਹਲਾ ੩ ॥

बिलावलु महला ३ ॥

Bilaavalu mahalaa 3 ||

Bilaaval, Third Mehl:

ਆਦਿ ਪੁਰਖੁ ਆਪੇ ਸ੍ਰਿਸਟਿ ਸਾਜੇ ॥

आदि पुरखु आपे स्रिसटि साजे ॥

Aadi purakhu aape srisati saaje ||

The Primal Lord Himself formed the Universe.

ਜੀਅ ਜੰਤ ਮਾਇਆ ਮੋਹਿ ਪਾਜੇ ॥

जीअ जंत माइआ मोहि पाजे ॥

Jeea jantt maaiaa mohi paaje ||

The beings and creatures are engrossed in emotional attachment to Maya.

ਦੂਜੈ ਭਾਇ ਪਰਪੰਚਿ ਲਾਗੇ ॥

दूजै भाइ परपंचि लागे ॥

Doojai bhaai parapancchi laage ||

In the love of duality, they are attached to the illusory material world.

ਆਵਹਿ ਜਾਵਹਿ ਮਰਹਿ ਅਭਾਗੇ ॥

आवहि जावहि मरहि अभागे ॥

Aavahi jaavahi marahi abhaage ||

The unfortunate ones die, and continue to come and go.

ਸਤਿਗੁਰਿ ਭੇਟਿਐ ਸੋਝੀ ਪਾਇ ॥

सतिगुरि भेटिऐ सोझी पाइ ॥

Satiguri bhetiai sojhee paai ||

Meeting with the True Guru, understanding is obtained.

ਪਰਪੰਚੁ ਚੂਕੈ ਸਚਿ ਸਮਾਇ ॥੧॥

परपंचु चूकै सचि समाइ ॥१॥

Parapancchu chookai sachi samaai ||1||

Then, the illusion of the material world is shattered, and one merges in Truth. ||1||

ਜਾ ਕੈ ਮਸਤਕਿ ਲਿਖਿਆ ਲੇਖੁ ॥

जा कै मसतकि लिखिआ लेखु ॥

Jaa kai masataki likhiaa lekhu ||

One who has such pre-ordained destiny inscribed upon his forehead

ਤਾ ਕੈ ਮਨਿ ਵਸਿਆ ਪ੍ਰਭੁ ਏਕੁ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥

ता कै मनि वसिआ प्रभु एकु ॥१॥ रहाउ ॥

Taa kai mani vasiaa prbhu eku ||1|| rahaau ||

- the One God abides within his mind. ||1|| Pause ||

ਸ੍ਰਿਸਟਿ ਉਪਾਇ ਆਪੇ ਸਭੁ ਵੇਖੈ ॥

स्रिसटि उपाइ आपे सभु वेखै ॥

Srisati upaai aape sabhu vekhai ||

He created the Universe, and He Himself beholds all.

ਕੋਇ ਨ ਮੇਟੈ ਤੇਰੈ ਲੇਖੈ ॥

कोइ न मेटै तेरै लेखै ॥

Koi na metai terai lekhai ||

No one can erase Your record, Lord.

ਸਿਧ ਸਾਧਿਕ ਜੇ ਕੋ ਕਹੈ ਕਹਾਏ ॥

सिध साधिक जे को कहै कहाए ॥

Sidh saadhik je ko kahai kahaae ||

If someone calls himself a Siddha or a seeker,

ਭਰਮੇ ਭੂਲਾ ਆਵੈ ਜਾਏ ॥

भरमे भूला आवै जाए ॥

Bharame bhoolaa aavai jaae ||

He is deluded by doubt, and will continue coming and going.

ਸਤਿਗੁਰੁ ਸੇਵੈ ਸੋ ਜਨੁ ਬੂਝੈ ॥

सतिगुरु सेवै सो जनु बूझै ॥

Satiguru sevai so janu boojhai ||

That humble being alone understands, who serves the True Guru.

ਹਉਮੈ ਮਾਰੇ ਤਾ ਦਰੁ ਸੂਝੈ ॥੨॥

हउमै मारे ता दरु सूझै ॥२॥

Haumai maare taa daru soojhai ||2||

Conquering his ego, he finds the Lord's Door. ||2||

ਏਕਸੁ ਤੇ ਸਭੁ ਦੂਜਾ ਹੂਆ ॥

एकसु ते सभु दूजा हूआ ॥

Ekasu te sabhu doojaa hooaa ||

From the One Lord, all others were formed.

ਏਕੋ ਵਰਤੈ ਅਵਰੁ ਨ ਬੀਆ ॥

एको वरतै अवरु न बीआ ॥

Eko varatai avaru na beeaa ||

The One Lord is pervading everywhere; there is no other at all.

ਦੂਜੇ ਤੇ ਜੇ ਏਕੋ ਜਾਣੈ ॥

दूजे ते जे एको जाणै ॥

Dooje te je eko jaa(nn)ai ||

Renouncing duality, one comes to know the One Lord.

ਗੁਰ ਕੈ ਸਬਦਿ ਹਰਿ ਦਰਿ ਨੀਸਾਣੈ ॥

गुर कै सबदि हरि दरि नीसाणै ॥

Gur kai sabadi hari dari neesaa(nn)ai ||

Through the Word of the Guru's Shabad, one knows the Lord's Door, and His Banner.

ਸਤਿਗੁਰੁ ਭੇਟੇ ਤਾ ਏਕੋ ਪਾਏ ॥

सतिगुरु भेटे ता एको पाए ॥

Satiguru bhete taa eko paae ||

Meeting the True Guru, one finds the One Lord.

ਵਿਚਹੁ ਦੂਜਾ ਠਾਕਿ ਰਹਾਏ ॥੩॥

विचहु दूजा ठाकि रहाए ॥३॥

Vichahu doojaa thaaki rahaae ||3||

Duality is subdued within. ||3||

ਜਿਸ ਦਾ ਸਾਹਿਬੁ ਡਾਢਾ ਹੋਇ ॥

जिस दा साहिबु डाढा होइ ॥

Jis daa saahibu daadhaa hoi ||

One who belongs to the All-powerful Lord and Master

ਤਿਸ ਨੋ ਮਾਰਿ ਨ ਸਾਕੈ ਕੋਇ ॥

तिस नो मारि न साकै कोइ ॥

Tis no maari na saakai koi ||

No one can destroy him.

ਸਾਹਿਬ ਕੀ ਸੇਵਕੁ ਰਹੈ ਸਰਣਾਈ ॥

साहिब की सेवकु रहै सरणाई ॥

Saahib kee sevaku rahai sara(nn)aaee ||

The Lord's servant remains under His protection;

ਆਪੇ ਬਖਸੇ ਦੇ ਵਡਿਆਈ ॥

आपे बखसे दे वडिआई ॥

Aape bakhase de vadiaaee ||

The Lord Himself forgives him, and blesses him with glorious greatness.

ਤਿਸ ਤੇ ਊਪਰਿ ਨਾਹੀ ਕੋਇ ॥

तिस ते ऊपरि नाही कोइ ॥

Tis te upari naahee koi ||

There is none higher than Him.

ਕਉਣੁ ਡਰੈ ਡਰੁ ਕਿਸ ਕਾ ਹੋਇ ॥੪॥

कउणु डरै डरु किस का होइ ॥४॥

Kau(nn)u darai daru kis kaa hoi ||4||

Why should he be afraid? What should he ever fear? ||4||

ਗੁਰਮਤੀ ਸਾਂਤਿ ਵਸੈ ਸਰੀਰ ॥

गुरमती सांति वसै सरीर ॥

Guramatee saanti vasai sareer ||

Through the Guru's Teachings, peace and tranquility abide within the body.

ਸਬਦੁ ਚੀਨੑਿ ਫਿਰਿ ਲਗੈ ਨ ਪੀਰ ॥

सबदु चीन्हि फिरि लगै न पीर ॥

Sabadu cheenhi phiri lagai na peer ||

Remember the Word of the Shabad, and you shall never suffer pain.

ਆਵੈ ਨ ਜਾਇ ਨਾ ਦੁਖੁ ਪਾਏ ॥

आवै न जाइ ना दुखु पाए ॥

Aavai na jaai naa dukhu paae ||

You shall not have to come or go, or suffer in sorrow.

ਨਾਮੇ ਰਾਤੇ ਸਹਜਿ ਸਮਾਏ ॥

नामे राते सहजि समाए ॥

Naame raate sahaji samaae ||

Imbued with the Naam, the Name of the Lord, you shall merge in celestial peace.

ਨਾਨਕ ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿ ਵੇਖੈ ਹਦੂਰਿ ॥

नानक गुरमुखि वेखै हदूरि ॥

Naanak guramukhi vekhai hadoori ||

O Nanak, the Gurmukh beholds Him ever-present, close at hand.

ਮੇਰਾ ਪ੍ਰਭੁ ਸਦ ਰਹਿਆ ਭਰਪੂਰਿ ॥੫॥

मेरा प्रभु सद रहिआ भरपूरि ॥५॥

Meraa prbhu sad rahiaa bharapoori ||5||

My God is always fully pervading everywhere. ||5||

ਇਕਿ ਸੇਵਕ ਇਕਿ ਭਰਮਿ ਭੁਲਾਏ ॥

इकि सेवक इकि भरमि भुलाए ॥

Iki sevak iki bharami bhulaae ||

Some are selfless servants, while others wander, deluded by doubt.

ਆਪੇ ਕਰੇ ਹਰਿ ਆਪਿ ਕਰਾਏ ॥

आपे करे हरि आपि कराए ॥

Aape kare hari aapi karaae ||

The Lord Himself does, and causes everything to be done.

ਏਕੋ ਵਰਤੈ ਅਵਰੁ ਨ ਕੋਇ ॥

एको वरतै अवरु न कोइ ॥

Eko varatai avaru na koi ||

The One Lord is all-pervading; there is no other at all.

ਮਨਿ ਰੋਸੁ ਕੀਜੈ ਜੇ ਦੂਜਾ ਹੋਇ ॥

मनि रोसु कीजै जे दूजा होइ ॥

Mani rosu keejai je doojaa hoi ||

The mortal might complain, if there were any other.

ਸਤਿਗੁਰੁ ਸੇਵੇ ਕਰਣੀ ਸਾਰੀ ॥

सतिगुरु सेवे करणी सारी ॥

Satiguru seve kara(nn)ee saaree ||

Serve the True Guru; this is the most excellent action.

ਦਰਿ ਸਾਚੈ ਸਾਚੇ ਵੀਚਾਰੀ ॥੬॥

दरि साचै साचे वीचारी ॥६॥

Dari saachai saache veechaaree ||6||

In the Court of the True Lord, you shall be judged true. ||6||

ਥਿਤੀ ਵਾਰ ਸਭਿ ਸਬਦਿ ਸੁਹਾਏ ॥

थिती वार सभि सबदि सुहाए ॥

Thitee vaar sabhi sabadi suhaae ||

All the lunar days, and the days of the week are beautiful, when one contemplates the Shabad.

ਸਤਿਗੁਰੁ ਸੇਵੇ ਤਾ ਫਲੁ ਪਾਏ ॥

सतिगुरु सेवे ता फलु पाए ॥

Satiguru seve taa phalu paae ||

If one serves the True Guru, he obtains the fruits of his rewards.

ਥਿਤੀ ਵਾਰ ਸਭਿ ਆਵਹਿ ਜਾਹਿ ॥

थिती वार सभि आवहि जाहि ॥

Thitee vaar sabhi aavahi jaahi ||

The omens and days all come and go.

ਗੁਰ ਸਬਦੁ ਨਿਹਚਲੁ ਸਦਾ ਸਚਿ ਸਮਾਹਿ ॥

गुर सबदु निहचलु सदा सचि समाहि ॥

Gur sabadu nihachalu sadaa sachi samaahi ||

But the Word of the Guru's Shabad is eternal and unchanging. Through it, one merges in the True Lord.

ਥਿਤੀ ਵਾਰ ਤਾ ਜਾ ਸਚਿ ਰਾਤੇ ॥

थिती वार ता जा सचि राते ॥

Thitee vaar taa jaa sachi raate ||

The days are auspicious, when one is imbued with Truth.

ਬਿਨੁ ਨਾਵੈ ਸਭਿ ਭਰਮਹਿ ਕਾਚੇ ॥੭॥

बिनु नावै सभि भरमहि काचे ॥७॥

Binu naavai sabhi bharamahi kaache ||7||

Without the Name, all the false ones wander deluded. ||7||

ਮਨਮੁਖ ਮਰਹਿ ਮਰਿ ਬਿਗਤੀ ਜਾਹਿ ॥

मनमुख मरहि मरि बिगती जाहि ॥

Manamukh marahi mari bigatee jaahi ||

The self-willed manmukhs die, and dead, they fall into the most evil state.

ਏਕੁ ਨ ਚੇਤਹਿ ਦੂਜੈ ਲੋਭਾਹਿ ॥

एकु न चेतहि दूजै लोभाहि ॥

Eku na chetahi doojai lobhaahi ||

They do not remember the One Lord; they are deluded by duality.

ਅਚੇਤ ਪਿੰਡੀ ਅਗਿਆਨ ਅੰਧਾਰੁ ॥

अचेत पिंडी अगिआन अंधारु ॥

Achet pinddee agiaan anddhaaru ||

The human body is unconscious, ignorant and blind.

ਬਿਨੁ ਸਬਦੈ ਕਿਉ ਪਾਏ ਪਾਰੁ ॥

बिनु सबदै किउ पाए पारु ॥

Binu sabadai kiu paae paaru ||

Without the Word of the Shabad, how can anyone cross over?

ਆਪਿ ਉਪਾਏ ਉਪਾਵਣਹਾਰੁ ॥

आपि उपाए उपावणहारु ॥

Aapi upaae upaava(nn)ahaaru ||

The Creator Himself creates.

ਆਪੇ ਕੀਤੋਨੁ ਗੁਰ ਵੀਚਾਰੁ ॥੮॥

आपे कीतोनु गुर वीचारु ॥८॥

Aape keetonu gur veechaaru ||8||

He Himself contemplates the Guru's Word. ||8||

ਬਹੁਤੇ ਭੇਖ ਕਰਹਿ ਭੇਖਧਾਰੀ ॥

बहुते भेख करहि भेखधारी ॥

Bahute bhekh karahi bhekhadhaaree ||

The religious fanatics wear all sorts of religious robes.

ਭਵਿ ਭਵਿ ਭਰਮਹਿ ਕਾਚੀ ਸਾਰੀ ॥

भवि भवि भरमहि काची सारी ॥

Bhavi bhavi bharamahi kaachee saaree ||

They roll around and wander around, like the false dice on the board.

ਐਥੈ ਸੁਖੁ ਨ ਆਗੈ ਹੋਇ ॥

ऐथै सुखु न आगै होइ ॥

Aithai sukhu na aagai hoi ||

They find no peace, here or hereafter.

ਮਨਮੁਖ ਮੁਏ ਅਪਣਾ ਜਨਮੁ ਖੋਇ ॥

मनमुख मुए अपणा जनमु खोइ ॥

Manamukh mue apa(nn)aa janamu khoi ||

The self-willed manmukhs waste away their lives, and die.

ਸਤਿਗੁਰੁ ਸੇਵੇ ਭਰਮੁ ਚੁਕਾਏ ॥

सतिगुरु सेवे भरमु चुकाए ॥

Satiguru seve bharamu chukaae ||

Serving the True Guru, doubt is driven away.

ਘਰ ਹੀ ਅੰਦਰਿ ਸਚੁ ਮਹਲੁ ਪਾਏ ॥੯॥

घर ही अंदरि सचु महलु पाए ॥९॥

Ghar hee anddari sachu mahalu paae ||9||

Deep within the home of the heart, one finds the Mansion of the True Lord's Presence. ||9||

ਆਪੇ ਪੂਰਾ ਕਰੇ ਸੁ ਹੋਇ ॥

आपे पूरा करे सु होइ ॥

Aape pooraa kare su hoi ||

Whatever the Perfect Lord does, that alone happens.

ਏਹਿ ਥਿਤੀ ਵਾਰ ਦੂਜਾ ਦੋਇ ॥

एहि थिती वार दूजा दोइ ॥

Ehi thitee vaar doojaa doi ||

Concern with these omens and days leads only to duality.

ਸਤਿਗੁਰ ਬਾਝਹੁ ਅੰਧੁ ਗੁਬਾਰੁ ॥

सतिगुर बाझहु अंधु गुबारु ॥

Satigur baajhahu anddhu gubaaru ||

Without the True Guru, there is only pitch darkness.

ਥਿਤੀ ਵਾਰ ਸੇਵਹਿ ਮੁਗਧ ਗਵਾਰ ॥

थिती वार सेवहि मुगध गवार ॥

Thitee vaar sevahi mugadh gavaar ||

Only idiots and fools worry about these omens and days.

ਨਾਨਕ ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿ ਬੂਝੈ ਸੋਝੀ ਪਾਇ ॥

नानक गुरमुखि बूझै सोझी पाइ ॥

Naanak guramukhi boojhai sojhee paai ||

O Nanak, the Gurmukh obtains understanding and realization;

ਇਕਤੁ ਨਾਮਿ ਸਦਾ ਰਹਿਆ ਸਮਾਇ ॥੧੦॥੨॥

इकतु नामि सदा रहिआ समाइ ॥१०॥२॥

Ikatu naami sadaa rahiaa samaai ||10||2||

He remains forever merged in the Name of the One Lord. ||10||2||

ਮੈ ਮਨਿ ਚਾਉ ਘਣਾ ਸਾਚਿ ਵਿਗਾਸੀ ਰਾਮ ॥

मै मनि चाउ घणा साचि विगासी राम ॥

Mai mani chaau gha(nn)aa saachi vigaasee raam ||

My mind is filled with such a great joy; I have blossomed forth in Truth.

ਮੋਹੀ ਪ੍ਰੇਮ ਪਿਰੇ ਪ੍ਰਭਿ ਅਬਿਨਾਸੀ ਰਾਮ ॥

मोही प्रेम पिरे प्रभि अबिनासी राम ॥

Mohee prem pire prbhi abinaasee raam ||

I am enticed by the love of my Husband Lord, the Eternal, Imperishable Lord God.

ਅਵਿਗਤੋ ਹਰਿ ਨਾਥੁ ਨਾਥਹ ਤਿਸੈ ਭਾਵੈ ਸੋ ਥੀਐ ॥

अविगतो हरि नाथु नाथह तिसै भावै सो थीऐ ॥

Avigato hari naathu naathah tisai bhaavai so theeai ||

The Lord is everlasting, the Master of masters. Whatever He wills, happens.

ਕਿਰਪਾਲੁ ਸਦਾ ਦਇਆਲੁ ਦਾਤਾ ਜੀਆ ਅੰਦਰਿ ਤੂੰ ਜੀਐ ॥

किरपालु सदा दइआलु दाता जीआ अंदरि तूं जीऐ ॥

Kirapaalu sadaa daiaalu daataa jeeaa anddari toonn jeeai ||

O Great Giver, You are always kind and compassionate. You infuse life into all living beings.

ਮੈ ਅਵਰੁ ਗਿਆਨੁ ਨ ਧਿਆਨੁ ਪੂਜਾ ਹਰਿ ਨਾਮੁ ਅੰਤਰਿ ਵਸਿ ਰਹੇ ॥

मै अवरु गिआनु न धिआनु पूजा हरि नामु अंतरि वसि रहे ॥

Mai avaru giaanu na dhiaanu poojaa hari naamu anttari vasi rahe ||

I have no other spiritual wisdom, meditation or worship; the Name of the Lord alone dwells deep within me.

ਭੇਖੁ ਭਵਨੀ ਹਠੁ ਨ ਜਾਨਾ ਨਾਨਕਾ ਸਚੁ ਗਹਿ ਰਹੇ ॥੧॥

भेखु भवनी हठु न जाना नानका सचु गहि रहे ॥१॥

Bhekhu bhavanee hathu na jaanaa naanakaa sachu gahi rahe ||1||

I know nothing about religious robes, pilgrimages or stubborn fanaticism; O Nanak, I hold tight to the Truth. ||1||

ਭਿੰਨੜੀ ਰੈਣਿ ਭਲੀ ਦਿਨਸ ਸੁਹਾਏ ਰਾਮ ॥

भिंनड़ी रैणि भली दिनस सुहाए राम ॥

Bhinna(rr)ee rai(nn)i bhalee dinas suhaae raam ||

The night is beautiful, drenched with dew, and the day is delightful,

ਨਿਜ ਘਰਿ ਸੂਤੜੀਏ ਪਿਰਮੁ ਜਗਾਏ ਰਾਮ ॥

निज घरि सूतड़ीए पिरमु जगाए राम ॥

Nij ghari soota(rr)eee piramu jagaae raam ||

When her Husband Lord wakes the sleeping soul-bride, in the home of the self.

ਨਵ ਹਾਣਿ ਨਵ ਧਨ ਸਬਦਿ ਜਾਗੀ ਆਪਣੇ ਪਿਰ ਭਾਣੀਆ ॥

नव हाणि नव धन सबदि जागी आपणे पिर भाणीआ ॥

Nav haa(nn)i nav dhan sabadi jaagee aapa(nn)e pir bhaa(nn)eeaa ||

The young bride has awakened to the Word of the Shabad; she is pleasing to her Husband Lord.

ਤਜਿ ਕੂੜੁ ਕਪਟੁ ਸੁਭਾਉ ਦੂਜਾ ਚਾਕਰੀ ਲੋਕਾਣੀਆ ॥

तजि कूड़ु कपटु सुभाउ दूजा चाकरी लोकाणीआ ॥

Taji koo(rr)u kapatu subhaau doojaa chaakaree lokaa(nn)eeaa ||

So renounce falsehood, fraud, love of duality and working for people.

ਮੈ ਨਾਮੁ ਹਰਿ ਕਾ ਹਾਰੁ ਕੰਠੇ ਸਾਚ ਸਬਦੁ ਨੀਸਾਣਿਆ ॥

मै नामु हरि का हारु कंठे साच सबदु नीसाणिआ ॥

Mai naamu hari kaa haaru kantthe saach sabadu neesaa(nn)iaa ||

The Name of the Lord is my necklace, and I am anointed with the True Shabad.

ਕਰ ਜੋੜਿ ਨਾਨਕੁ ਸਾਚੁ ਮਾਗੈ ਨਦਰਿ ਕਰਿ ਤੁਧੁ ਭਾਣਿਆ ॥੨॥

कर जोड़ि नानकु साचु मागै नदरि करि तुधु भाणिआ ॥२॥

Kar jo(rr)i naanaku saachu maagai nadari kari tudhu bhaa(nn)iaa ||2||

With his palms pressed together, Nanak begs for the gift of the True Name; please, bless me with Your Grace, through the pleasure of Your Will. ||2||

ਜਾਗੁ ਸਲੋਨੜੀਏ ਬੋਲੈ ਗੁਰਬਾਣੀ ਰਾਮ ॥

जागु सलोनड़ीए बोलै गुरबाणी राम ॥

Jaagu salona(rr)eee bolai gurabaa(nn)ee raam ||

Awake, O bride of splendored eyes, and chant the Word of the Guru's Bani.

ਜਿਨਿ ਸੁਣਿ ਮੰਨਿਅੜੀ ਅਕਥ ਕਹਾਣੀ ਰਾਮ ॥

जिनि सुणि मंनिअड़ी अकथ कहाणी राम ॥

Jini su(nn)i mannia(rr)ee akath kahaa(nn)ee raam ||

Listen, and place your faith in the Unspoken Speech of the Lord.

ਅਕਥ ਕਹਾਣੀ ਪਦੁ ਨਿਰਬਾਣੀ ਕੋ ਵਿਰਲਾ ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿ ਬੂਝਏ ॥

अकथ कहाणी पदु निरबाणी को विरला गुरमुखि बूझए ॥

Akath kahaa(nn)ee padu nirabaa(nn)ee ko viralaa guramukhi boojhae ||

The Unspoken Speech, the state of Nirvaanaa - how rare is the Gurmukh who understands this.

ਓਹੁ ਸਬਦਿ ਸਮਾਏ ਆਪੁ ਗਵਾਏ ਤ੍ਰਿਭਵਣ ਸੋਝੀ ਸੂਝਏ ॥

ओहु सबदि समाए आपु गवाए त्रिभवण सोझी सूझए ॥

Ohu sabadi samaae aapu gavaae tribhava(nn) sojhee soojhae ||

Merging in the Word of the Shabad, self-conceit is eradicated, and the three worlds are revealed to her understanding.

ਰਹੈ ਅਤੀਤੁ ਅਪਰੰਪਰਿ ਰਾਤਾ ਸਾਚੁ ਮਨਿ ਗੁਣ ਸਾਰਿਆ ॥

रहै अतीतु अपर्मपरि राता साचु मनि गुण सारिआ ॥

Rahai ateetu aparamppari raataa saachu mani gu(nn) saariaa ||

Remaining detached, with infinity infusing, the true mind cherishes the virtues of the Lord.

ਓਹੁ ਪੂਰਿ ਰਹਿਆ ਸਰਬ ਠਾਈ ਨਾਨਕਾ ਉਰਿ ਧਾਰਿਆ ॥੩॥

ओहु पूरि रहिआ सरब ठाई नानका उरि धारिआ ॥३॥

Ohu poori rahiaa sarab thaaee naanakaa uri dhaariaa ||3||

He is fully pervading and permeating all places; Nanak has enshrined Him within his heart. ||3||

ਮਹਲਿ ਬੁਲਾਇੜੀਏ ਭਗਤਿ ਸਨੇਹੀ ਰਾਮ ॥

महलि बुलाइड़ीए भगति सनेही राम ॥

Mahali bulaai(rr)eee bhagati sanehee raam ||

The Lord is calling you to the Mansion of His Presence; O soul-bride, He is the Lover of His devotees.

ਗੁਰਮਤਿ ਮਨਿ ਰਹਸੀ ਸੀਝਸਿ ਦੇਹੀ ਰਾਮ ॥

गुरमति मनि रहसी सीझसि देही राम ॥

Guramati mani rahasee seejhasi dehee raam ||

Following the Guru's Teachings, your mind shall be delighted, and your body shall be fulfilled.

ਮਨੁ ਮਾਰਿ ਰੀਝੈ ਸਬਦਿ ਸੀਝੈ ਤ੍ਰੈ ਲੋਕ ਨਾਥੁ ਪਛਾਣਏ ॥

मनु मारि रीझै सबदि सीझै त्रै लोक नाथु पछाणए ॥

Manu maari reejhai sabadi seejhai trai lok naathu pachhaa(nn)ae ||

Conquer and subdue your mind, and love the Word of the Shabad; reform yourself, and realize the Lord of the three worlds.

ਮਨੁ ਡੀਗਿ ਡੋਲਿ ਨ ਜਾਇ ਕਤ ਹੀ ਆਪਣਾ ਪਿਰੁ ਜਾਣਏ ॥

मनु डीगि डोलि न जाइ कत ही आपणा पिरु जाणए ॥

Manu deegi doli na jaai kat hee aapa(nn)aa piru jaa(nn)ae ||

Her mind shall not waver or wander anywhere else, when she comes to know her Husband Lord.

ਮੈ ਆਧਾਰੁ ਤੇਰਾ ਤੂ ਖਸਮੁ ਮੇਰਾ ਮੈ ਤਾਣੁ ਤਕੀਆ ਤੇਰਓ ॥

मै आधारु तेरा तू खसमु मेरा मै ताणु तकीआ तेरओ ॥

Mai aadhaaru teraa too khasamu meraa mai taa(nn)u takeeaa tero ||

You are my only Support, You are my Lord and Master. You are my strength and anchor.

ਸਾਚਿ ਸੂਚਾ ਸਦਾ ਨਾਨਕ ਗੁਰ ਸਬਦਿ ਝਗਰੁ ਨਿਬੇਰਓ ॥੪॥੨॥

साचि सूचा सदा नानक गुर सबदि झगरु निबेरओ ॥४॥२॥

Saachi soochaa sadaa naanak gur sabadi jhagaru nibero ||4||2||

She is forever truthful and pure, O Nanak; through the Word of the Guru's Shabad, conflicts are resolved. ||4||2||

ਹਰਿ ਪ੍ਰਭੁ ਸਜਣੁ ਲੋੜਿ ਲਹੁ ਮਨਿ ਵਸੈ ਵਡਭਾਗੁ ॥

हरि प्रभु सजणु लोड़ि लहु मनि वसै वडभागु ॥

Hari prbhu saja(nn)u lo(rr)i lahu mani vasai vadabhaagu ||

Seek out the Lord God, your only true Friend. He shall dwell in your mind, by great good fortune.

ਗੁਰਿ ਪੂਰੈ ਵੇਖਾਲਿਆ ਨਾਨਕ ਹਰਿ ਲਿਵ ਲਾਗੁ ॥੧॥

गुरि पूरै वेखालिआ नानक हरि लिव लागु ॥१॥

Guri poorai vekhaaliaa naanak hari liv laagu ||1||

The True Guru shall reveal Him to you; O Nanak, lovingly focus yourself on the Lord. ||1||

Meraa hari prbhu raava(nn)i aaeeaa haumai bikhu jhaage raam ||

The soul-bride has come to ravish and enjoy her Lord God, after eradicating the poison of egotism.

ਗੁਰਮਤਿ ਆਪੁ ਮਿਟਾਇਆ ਹਰਿ ਹਰਿ ਲਿਵ ਲਾਗੇ ਰਾਮ ॥

गुरमति आपु मिटाइआ हरि हरि लिव लागे राम ॥

Guramati aapu mitaaiaa hari hari liv laage raam ||

Following the Guru's Teachings,she has eliminated her self-conceit; she is lovingly attuned to her Lord,Har, Har.

ਅੰਤਰਿ ਕਮਲੁ ਪਰਗਾਸਿਆ ਗੁਰ ਗਿਆਨੀ ਜਾਗੇ ਰਾਮ ॥

अंतरि कमलु परगासिआ गुर गिआनी जागे राम ॥

Anttari kamalu paragaasiaa gur giaanee jaage raam ||

Her heart-lotus deep within has blossomed forth, and through the Guru, spiritual wisdom has been awakened within her.

ਜਨ ਨਾਨਕ ਹਰਿ ਪ੍ਰਭੁ ਪਾਇਆ ਪੂਰੈ ਵਡਭਾਗੇ ਰਾਮ ॥੧॥

जन नानक हरि प्रभु पाइआ पूरै वडभागे राम ॥१॥

Jan naanak hari prbhu paaiaa poorai vadabhaage raam ||1||

Servant Nanak has found the Lord God, by perfect, great good fortune. ||1||

ਹਰਿ ਪ੍ਰਭੁ ਹਰਿ ਮਨਿ ਭਾਇਆ ਹਰਿ ਨਾਮਿ ਵਧਾਈ ਰਾਮ ॥

हरि प्रभु हरि मनि भाइआ हरि नामि वधाई राम ॥

Hari prbhu hari mani bhaaiaa hari naami vadhaaee raam ||

The Lord,the Lord God,is pleasing to her mind; the Lord's Name resounds within her.

ਗੁਰਿ ਪੂਰੈ ਪ੍ਰਭੁ ਪਾਇਆ ਹਰਿ ਹਰਿ ਲਿਵ ਲਾਈ ਰਾਮ ॥

गुरि पूरै प्रभु पाइआ हरि हरि लिव लाई राम ॥

Guri poorai prbhu paaiaa hari hari liv laaee raam ||

Through the Perfect Guru, God is obtained; she is lovingly focused on the Lord, Har, Har.

ਅਗਿਆਨੁ ਅੰਧੇਰਾ ਕਟਿਆ ਜੋਤਿ ਪਰਗਟਿਆਈ ਰਾਮ ॥

अगिआनु अंधेरा कटिआ जोति परगटिआई राम ॥

Agiaanu anddheraa katiaa joti paragatiaaee raam ||

The darkness of ignorance is dispelled, and the Divine Light radiantly shines forth.

ਜਨ ਨਾਨਕ ਨਾਮੁ ਅਧਾਰੁ ਹੈ ਹਰਿ ਨਾਮਿ ਸਮਾਈ ਰਾਮ ॥੨॥

जन नानक नामु अधारु है हरि नामि समाई राम ॥२॥

Jan naanak naamu adhaaru hai hari naami samaaee raam ||2||

The Naam,the Name of the Lord,is Nanak's only Support; he merges into the Lord's Name. ||2||

ਧਨ ਹਰਿ ਪ੍ਰਭਿ ਪਿਆਰੈ ਰਾਵੀਆ ਜਾਂ ਹਰਿ ਪ੍ਰਭ ਭਾਈ ਰਾਮ ॥

धन हरि प्रभि पिआरै रावीआ जां हरि प्रभ भाई राम ॥

Dhan hari prbhi piaarai raaveeaa jaan hari prbh bhaaee raam ||

The soul-bride is ravished and enjoyed by her Beloved Lord God, when the Lord God is pleased with her.

ਅਖੀ ਪ੍ਰੇਮ ਕਸਾਈਆ ਜਿਉ ਬਿਲਕ ਮਸਾਈ ਰਾਮ ॥

अखी प्रेम कसाईआ जिउ बिलक मसाई राम ॥

Akhee prem kasaaeeaa jiu bilak masaaee raam ||

My eyes are drawn to His Love, like the cat to the mouse.

ਗੁਰਿ ਪੂਰੈ ਹਰਿ ਮੇਲਿਆ ਹਰਿ ਰਸਿ ਆਘਾਈ ਰਾਮ ॥

गुरि पूरै हरि मेलिआ हरि रसि आघाई राम ॥

Guri poorai hari meliaa hari rasi aaghaaee raam ||

The Perfect Guru has united me with the Lord; I am satisfied by the subtle essence of the Lord.

ਜਨ ਨਾਨਕ ਨਾਮਿ ਵਿਗਸਿਆ ਹਰਿ ਹਰਿ ਲਿਵ ਲਾਈ ਰਾਮ ॥੩॥

जन नानक नामि विगसिआ हरि हरि लिव लाई राम ॥३॥

Jan naanak naami vigasiaa hari hari liv laaee raam ||3||

Servant Nanak blossoms forth in the Naam, the Name of the Lord; he is lovingly attuned to the Lord, Har, Har. ||3||

ਹਮ ਮੂਰਖ ਮੁਗਧ ਮਿਲਾਇਆ ਹਰਿ ਕਿਰਪਾ ਧਾਰੀ ਰਾਮ ॥

हम मूरख मुगध मिलाइआ हरि किरपा धारी राम ॥

Ham moorakh mugadh milaaiaa hari kirapaa dhaaree raam ||

I am a fool and an idiot, but the Lord showered me with His Mercy, and united me with Himself.

ਧਨੁ ਧੰਨੁ ਗੁਰੂ ਸਾਬਾਸਿ ਹੈ ਜਿਨਿ ਹਉਮੈ ਮਾਰੀ ਰਾਮ ॥

धनु धंनु गुरू साबासि है जिनि हउमै मारी राम ॥

Dhanu dhannu guroo saabaasi hai jini haumai maaree raam ||

Blessed, blessed is the most wonderful Guru, who has conquered egotism.

ਜਿਨੑ ਵਡਭਾਗੀਆ ਵਡਭਾਗੁ ਹੈ ਹਰਿ ਹਰਿ ਉਰ ਧਾਰੀ ਰਾਮ ॥

जिन्ह वडभागीआ वडभागु है हरि हरि उर धारी राम ॥

Jinh vadabhaageeaa vadabhaagu hai hari hari ur dhaaree raam ||

Very fortunate, of blessed destiny are those, who enshrine the Lord, Har, Har, in their hearts.

ਜਨ ਨਾਨਕ ਨਾਮੁ ਸਲਾਹਿ ਤੂ ਨਾਮੇ ਬਲਿਹਾਰੀ ਰਾਮ ॥੪॥੨॥੪॥

जन नानक नामु सलाहि तू नामे बलिहारी राम ॥४॥२॥४॥

Jan naanak naamu salaahi too naame balihaaree raam ||4||2||4||

O servant Nanak, praise the Naam, and be a sacrifice to the Naam. ||4||2||4||

मंगल साजु भइआ प्रभु अपना गाइआ राम ॥

Manggal saaju bhaiaa prbhu apanaa gaaiaa raam ||

The time of rejoicing has come; I sing of my Lord God.

ਅਬਿਨਾਸੀ ਵਰੁ ਸੁਣਿਆ ਮਨਿ ਉਪਜਿਆ ਚਾਇਆ ਰਾਮ ॥

अबिनासी वरु सुणिआ मनि उपजिआ चाइआ राम ॥

Abinaasee varu su(nn)iaa mani upajiaa chaaiaa raam ||

I have heard of my Imperishable Husband Lord, and happiness fills my mind.

ਮਨਿ ਪ੍ਰੀਤਿ ਲਾਗੈ ਵਡੈ ਭਾਗੈ ਕਬ ਮਿਲੀਐ ਪੂਰਨ ਪਤੇ ॥

मनि प्रीति लागै वडै भागै कब मिलीऐ पूरन पते ॥

Mani preeti laagai vadai bhaagai kab mileeai pooran pate ||

My mind is in love with Him; when shall I realize my great good fortune, and meet with my Perfect Husband?

ਸਹਜੇ ਸਮਾਈਐ ਗੋਵਿੰਦੁ ਪਾਈਐ ਦੇਹੁ ਸਖੀਏ ਮੋਹਿ ਮਤੇ ॥

सहजे समाईऐ गोविंदु पाईऐ देहु सखीए मोहि मते ॥

Sahaje samaaeeai govinddu paaeeai dehu sakheee mohi mate ||

If only I could meet the Lord of the Universe, and be automatically absorbed into Him; tell me how, O my companions!

ਦਿਨੁ ਰੈਣਿ ਠਾਢੀ ਕਰਉ ਸੇਵਾ ਪ੍ਰਭੁ ਕਵਨ ਜੁਗਤੀ ਪਾਇਆ ॥

दिनु रैणि ठाढी करउ सेवा प्रभु कवन जुगती पाइआ ॥

Dinu rai(nn)i thaadhee karau sevaa prbhu kavan jugatee paaiaa ||

Day and night, I stand and serve my God; how can I attain Him?

ਬਿਨਵੰਤਿ ਨਾਨਕ ਕਰਹੁ ਕਿਰਪਾ ਲੈਹੁ ਮੋਹਿ ਲੜਿ ਲਾਇਆ ॥੧॥

बिनवंति नानक करहु किरपा लैहु मोहि लड़ि लाइआ ॥१॥

Binavantti naanak karahu kirapaa laihu mohi la(rr)i laaiaa ||1||

Prays Nanak, have mercy on me, and attach me to the hem of Your robe, O Lord. ||1||

ਭਇਆ ਸਮਾਹੜਾ ਹਰਿ ਰਤਨੁ ਵਿਸਾਹਾ ਰਾਮ ॥

भइआ समाहड़ा हरि रतनु विसाहा राम ॥

Bhaiaa samaaha(rr)aa hari ratanu visaahaa raam ||

Joy has come! I have purchased the jewel of the Lord.

ਖੋਜੀ ਖੋਜਿ ਲਧਾ ਹਰਿ ਸੰਤਨ ਪਾਹਾ ਰਾਮ ॥

खोजी खोजि लधा हरि संतन पाहा राम ॥

Khojee khoji ladhaa hari santtan paahaa raam ||

Searching, the seeker has found the Lord with the Saints.

ਮਿਲੇ ਸੰਤ ਪਿਆਰੇ ਦਇਆ ਧਾਰੇ ਕਥਹਿ ਅਕਥ ਬੀਚਾਰੋ ॥

मिले संत पिआरे दइआ धारे कथहि अकथ बीचारो ॥

Mile santt piaare daiaa dhaare kathahi akath beechaaro ||

I have met the Beloved Saints, and they have blessed me with their kindness; I contemplate the Unspoken Speech of the Lord.

ਇਕ ਚਿਤਿ ਇਕ ਮਨਿ ਧਿਆਇ ਸੁਆਮੀ ਲਾਇ ਪ੍ਰੀਤਿ ਪਿਆਰੋ ॥

इक चिति इक मनि धिआइ सुआमी लाइ प्रीति पिआरो ॥

Ik chiti ik mani dhiaai suaamee laai preeti piaaro ||

With my consciousness centered, and my mind one-pointed, I meditate on my Lord and Master, with love and affection.

ਕਰ ਜੋੜਿ ਪ੍ਰਭ ਪਹਿ ਕਰਿ ਬਿਨੰਤੀ ਮਿਲੈ ਹਰਿ ਜਸੁ ਲਾਹਾ ॥

कर जोड़ि प्रभ पहि करि बिनंती मिलै हरि जसु लाहा ॥

Kar jo(rr)i prbh pahi kari binanttee milai hari jasu laahaa ||

With my palms pressed together, I pray unto God, to bless me with the profit of the Lord's Praise.

ਬਿਨਵੰਤਿ ਨਾਨਕ ਦਾਸੁ ਤੇਰਾ ਮੇਰਾ ਪ੍ਰਭੁ ਅਗਮ ਅਥਾਹਾ ॥੨॥

बिनवंति नानक दासु तेरा मेरा प्रभु अगम अथाहा ॥२॥

Binavantti naanak daasu teraa meraa prbhu agam athaahaa ||2||

Prays Nanak, I am Your slave. My God is inaccessible and unfathomable. ||2||

ਸਾਹਾ ਅਟਲੁ ਗਣਿਆ ਪੂਰਨ ਸੰਜੋਗੋ ਰਾਮ ॥

साहा अटलु गणिआ पूरन संजोगो राम ॥

Saahaa atalu ga(nn)iaa pooran sanjjogo raam ||

The date for my wedding is set, and cannot be changed; my union with the Lord is perfect.

ਸੁਖਹ ਸਮੂਹ ਭਇਆ ਗਇਆ ਵਿਜੋਗੋ ਰਾਮ ॥

सुखह समूह भइआ गइआ विजोगो राम ॥

Sukhah samooh bhaiaa gaiaa vijogo raam ||

I am totally at peace, and my separation from Him has ended.

ਮਿਲਿ ਸੰਤ ਆਏ ਪ੍ਰਭ ਧਿਆਏ ਬਣੇ ਅਚਰਜ ਜਾਞੀਆਂ ॥

मिलि संत आए प्रभ धिआए बणे अचरज जाञीआं ॥

Mili santt aae prbh dhiaae ba(nn)e acharaj jaa(ny)eeaan ||

The Saints meet and come together, and meditate on God; they form a wondrous wedding party.

ਮਿਲਿ ਇਕਤ੍ਰ ਹੋਏ ਸਹਜਿ ਢੋਏ ਮਨਿ ਪ੍ਰੀਤਿ ਉਪਜੀ ਮਾਞੀਆ ॥

मिलि इकत्र होए सहजि ढोए मनि प्रीति उपजी माञीआ ॥

Mili ikatr hoe sahaji dhoe mani preeti upajee maa(ny)eeaa ||

Gathering together, they arrive with poise and grace, and love fills the minds of the bride's family.

ਮਿਲਿ ਜੋਤਿ ਜੋਤੀ ਓਤਿ ਪੋਤੀ ਹਰਿ ਨਾਮੁ ਸਭਿ ਰਸ ਭੋਗੋ ॥

मिलि जोति जोती ओति पोती हरि नामु सभि रस भोगो ॥

Mili joti jotee oti potee hari naamu sabhi ras bhogo ||

Her light blends with His Light, through and through, and everyone enjoys the Nectar of the Lord's Name.

ਬਿਨਵੰਤਿ ਨਾਨਕ ਸਭ ਸੰਤਿ ਮੇਲੀ ਪ੍ਰਭੁ ਕਰਣ ਕਾਰਣ ਜੋਗੋ ॥੩॥

बिनवंति नानक सभ संति मेली प्रभु करण कारण जोगो ॥३॥

Binavantti naanak sabh santti melee prbhu kara(nn) kaara(nn) jogo ||3||

Prays Nanak, the Saints have totally united me with God, the All-powerful Cause of causes. ||3||

ਭਵਨੁ ਸੁਹਾਵੜਾ ਧਰਤਿ ਸਭਾਗੀ ਰਾਮ ॥

भवनु सुहावड़ा धरति सभागी राम ॥

Bhavanu suhaava(rr)aa dharati sabhaagee raam ||

Beautiful is my home, and beauteous is the earth.

ਪ੍ਰਭੁ ਘਰਿ ਆਇਅੜਾ ਗੁਰ ਚਰਣੀ ਲਾਗੀ ਰਾਮ ॥

प्रभु घरि आइअड़ा गुर चरणी लागी राम ॥

Prbhu ghari aaia(rr)aa gur chara(nn)ee laagee raam ||

God has entered the home of my heart; I touch the Guru's feet.

ਗੁਰ ਚਰਣ ਲਾਗੀ ਸਹਜਿ ਜਾਗੀ ਸਗਲ ਇਛਾ ਪੁੰਨੀਆ ॥

गुर चरण लागी सहजि जागी सगल इछा पुंनीआ ॥

Gur chara(nn) laagee sahaji jaagee sagal ichhaa punneeaa ||

Grasping the Guru's feet, I awake in peace and poise. All my desires are fulfilled.

ਮੇਰੀ ਆਸ ਪੂਰੀ ਸੰਤ ਧੂਰੀ ਹਰਿ ਮਿਲੇ ਕੰਤ ਵਿਛੁੰਨਿਆ ॥

मेरी आस पूरी संत धूरी हरि मिले कंत विछुंनिआ ॥

Meree aas pooree santt dhooree hari mile kantt vichhunniaa ||

My hopes are fulfilled, through the dust of the feet of the Saints. After such a long separation, I have met my Husband Lord.

ਆਨੰਦ ਅਨਦਿਨੁ ਵਜਹਿ ਵਾਜੇ ਅਹੰ ਮਤਿ ਮਨ ਕੀ ਤਿਆਗੀ ॥

आनंद अनदिनु वजहि वाजे अहं मति मन की तिआगी ॥

Aanandd anadinu vajahi vaaje ahann mati man kee tiaagee ||

Night and day, the sounds of ecstasy resound and resonate; I have forsaken my stubborn-minded intellect.

ਬਿਨਵੰਤਿ ਨਾਨਕ ਸਰਣਿ ਸੁਆਮੀ ਸੰਤਸੰਗਿ ਲਿਵ ਲਾਗੀ ॥੪॥੧॥

बिनवंति नानक सरणि सुआमी संतसंगि लिव लागी ॥४॥१॥

Binavantti naanak sara(nn)i suaamee santtasanggi liv laagee ||4||1||

Prays Nanak, I seek the Sanctuary of my Lord and Master; in the Society of the Saints, I am lovingly attuned to Him. ||4||1||

ਭਾਗ ਸੁਲਖਣਾ ਹਰਿ ਕੰਤੁ ਹਮਾਰਾ ਰਾਮ ॥

भाग सुलखणा हरि कंतु हमारा राम ॥

Bhaag sulakha(nn)aa hari kanttu hamaaraa raam ||

By blessed destiny, I have found my Husband Lord.

ਅਨਹਦ ਬਾਜਿਤ੍ਰਾ ਤਿਸੁ ਧੁਨਿ ਦਰਬਾਰਾ ਰਾਮ ॥

अनहद बाजित्रा तिसु धुनि दरबारा राम ॥

Anahad baajitraa tisu dhuni darabaaraa raam ||

The unstruck sound current vibrates and resounds in the Court of the Lord.

ਆਨੰਦ ਅਨਦਿਨੁ ਵਜਹਿ ਵਾਜੇ ਦਿਨਸੁ ਰੈਣਿ ਉਮਾਹਾ ॥

आनंद अनदिनु वजहि वाजे दिनसु रैणि उमाहा ॥

Aanandd anadinu vajahi vaaje dinasu rai(nn)i umaahaa ||

Night and day, the sounds of ecstasy resound and resonate; day and night, I am enraptured.

ਤਹ ਰੋਗ ਸੋਗ ਨ ਦੂਖੁ ਬਿਆਪੈ ਜਨਮ ਮਰਣੁ ਨ ਤਾਹਾ ॥

तह रोग सोग न दूखु बिआपै जनम मरणु न ताहा ॥

Tah rog sog na dookhu biaapai janam mara(nn)u na taahaa ||

Disease, sorrow and suffering do not afflict anyone there; there is no birth or death there.

ਰਿਧਿ ਸਿਧਿ ਸੁਧਾ ਰਸੁ ਅੰਮ੍ਰਿਤੁ ਭਗਤਿ ਭਰੇ ਭੰਡਾਰਾ ॥

रिधि सिधि सुधा रसु अम्रितु भगति भरे भंडारा ॥

Ridhi sidhi sudhaa rasu ammmritu bhagati bhare bhanddaaraa ||

There are treasures overflowing there - wealth, miraculous powers, ambrosial nectar and devotional worship.

ਬਿਨਵੰਤਿ ਨਾਨਕ ਬਲਿਹਾਰਿ ਵੰਞਾ ਪਾਰਬ੍ਰਹਮ ਪ੍ਰਾਨ ਅਧਾਰਾ ॥੧॥

बिनवंति नानक बलिहारि वंञा पारब्रहम प्रान अधारा ॥१॥

Binavantti naanak balihaari van(ny)aa paarabrham praan adhaaraa ||1||

Prays Nanak, I am a sacrifice, devoted to the Supreme Lord God, the Support of the breath of life. ||1||

ਸੁਣਿ ਸਖੀਅ ਸਹੇਲੜੀਹੋ ਮਿਲਿ ਮੰਗਲੁ ਗਾਵਹ ਰਾਮ ॥

सुणि सखीअ सहेलड़ीहो मिलि मंगलु गावह राम ॥

Su(nn)i sakheea sahela(rr)eeho mili manggalu gaavah raam ||

Listen, O my companions, and sister soul-brides, let's join together and sing the songs of joy.

ਮਨਿ ਤਨਿ ਪ੍ਰੇਮੁ ਕਰੇ ਤਿਸੁ ਪ੍ਰਭ ਕਉ ਰਾਵਹ ਰਾਮ ॥

मनि तनि प्रेमु करे तिसु प्रभ कउ रावह राम ॥

Mani tani premu kare tisu prbh kau raavah raam ||

Loving our God with mind and body, let's ravish and enjoy Him.

ਕਰਿ ਪ੍ਰੇਮੁ ਰਾਵਹ ਤਿਸੈ ਭਾਵਹ ਇਕ ਨਿਮਖ ਪਲਕ ਨ ਤਿਆਗੀਐ ॥

करि प्रेमु रावह तिसै भावह इक निमख पलक न तिआगीऐ ॥

Kari premu raavah tisai bhaavah ik nimakh palak na tiaageeai ||

Lovingly enjoying Him, we become pleasing to Him; let's not reject Him, for a moment, even for an instant.

ਗਹਿ ਕੰਠਿ ਲਾਈਐ ਨਹ ਲਜਾਈਐ ਚਰਨ ਰਜ ਮਨੁ ਪਾਗੀਐ ॥

गहि कंठि लाईऐ नह लजाईऐ चरन रज मनु पागीऐ ॥

Gahi kantthi laaeeai nah lajaaeeai charan raj manu paageeai ||

Let's hug Him close in our embrace, and not feel shy; let's bathe our minds in the dust of His feet.

ਭਗਤਿ ਠਗਉਰੀ ਪਾਇ ਮੋਹਹ ਅਨਤ ਕਤਹੂ ਨ ਧਾਵਹ ॥

भगति ठगउरी पाइ मोहह अनत कतहू न धावह ॥

Bhagati thagauree paai mohah anat katahoo na dhaavah ||

With the intoxicating drug of devotional worship, let's entice Him, and not wander anywhere else.

ਬਿਨਵੰਤਿ ਨਾਨਕ ਮਿਲਿ ਸੰਗਿ ਸਾਜਨ ਅਮਰ ਪਦਵੀ ਪਾਵਹ ॥੨॥

बिनवंति नानक मिलि संगि साजन अमर पदवी पावह ॥२॥

Binavantti naanak mili sanggi saajan amar padavee paavah ||2||

Prays Nanak, meeting with our True Friend, we attain the immortal status. ||2||

ਬਿਸਮਨ ਬਿਸਮ ਭਈ ਪੇਖਿ ਗੁਣ ਅਬਿਨਾਸੀ ਰਾਮ ॥

बिसमन बिसम भई पेखि गुण अबिनासी राम ॥

Bisaman bisam bhaee pekhi gu(nn) abinaasee raam ||

I am wonder-struck and amazed, gazing upon the Glories of my Imperishable Lord.

ਕਰੁ ਗਹਿ ਭੁਜਾ ਗਹੀ ਕਟਿ ਜਮ ਕੀ ਫਾਸੀ ਰਾਮ ॥

करु गहि भुजा गही कटि जम की फासी राम ॥

Karu gahi bhujaa gahee kati jam kee phaasee raam ||

He took my hand, and held my arm, and cut away the noose of Death.

ਗਹਿ ਭੁਜਾ ਲੀਨੑੀ ਦਾਸਿ ਕੀਨੑੀ ਅੰਕੁਰਿ ਉਦੋਤੁ ਜਣਾਇਆ ॥

गहि भुजा लीन्ही दासि कीन्ही अंकुरि उदोतु जणाइआ ॥

Gahi bhujaa leenhee daasi keenhee ankkuri udotu ja(nn)aaiaa ||

Holding me by the arm, He made me His slave; the branch has sprouted in abundance.

ਮਲਨ ਮੋਹ ਬਿਕਾਰ ਨਾਠੇ ਦਿਵਸ ਨਿਰਮਲ ਆਇਆ ॥

मलन मोह बिकार नाठे दिवस निरमल आइआ ॥

Malan moh bikaar naathe divas niramal aaiaa ||

Pollution, attachment and corruption have run away; the immaculate day has dawned.

ਦ੍ਰਿਸਟਿ ਧਾਰੀ ਮਨਿ ਪਿਆਰੀ ਮਹਾ ਦੁਰਮਤਿ ਨਾਸੀ ॥

द्रिसटि धारी मनि पिआरी महा दुरमति नासी ॥

Drisati dhaaree mani piaaree mahaa duramati naasee ||

Casting His Glance of Grace, the Lord loves me with His Mind; my immense evil-mindedness is dispelled.

ਬਿਨਵੰਤਿ ਨਾਨਕ ਭਈ ਨਿਰਮਲ ਪ੍ਰਭ ਮਿਲੇ ਅਬਿਨਾਸੀ ॥੩॥

बिनवंति नानक भई निरमल प्रभ मिले अबिनासी ॥३॥

Binavantti naanak bhaee niramal prbh mile abinaasee ||3||

Prays Nanak, I have become immaculate and pure; I have met the Imperishable Lord God. ||3||

ਸੂਰਜ ਕਿਰਣਿ ਮਿਲੇ ਜਲ ਕਾ ਜਲੁ ਹੂਆ ਰਾਮ ॥

सूरज किरणि मिले जल का जलु हूआ राम ॥

Sooraj kira(nn)i mile jal kaa jalu hooaa raam ||

The rays of light merge with the sun, and water merges with water.

ਜੋਤੀ ਜੋਤਿ ਰਲੀ ਸੰਪੂਰਨੁ ਥੀਆ ਰਾਮ ॥

जोती जोति रली स्मपूरनु थीआ राम ॥

Jotee joti ralee samppooranu theeaa raam ||

One's light blends with the Light, and one becomes totally perfect.

ਬ੍ਰਹਮੁ ਦੀਸੈ ਬ੍ਰਹਮੁ ਸੁਣੀਐ ਏਕੁ ਏਕੁ ਵਖਾਣੀਐ ॥

ब्रहमु दीसै ब्रहमु सुणीऐ एकु एकु वखाणीऐ ॥

Brhamu deesai brhamu su(nn)eeai eku eku vakhaa(nn)eeai ||

I see God, hear God, and speak of the One and only God.

ਆਤਮ ਪਸਾਰਾ ਕਰਣਹਾਰਾ ਪ੍ਰਭ ਬਿਨਾ ਨਹੀ ਜਾਣੀਐ ॥

आतम पसारा करणहारा प्रभ बिना नही जाणीऐ ॥

Aatam pasaaraa kara(nn)ahaaraa prbh binaa nahee jaa(nn)eeai ||

The soul is the Creator of the expanse of creation. Without God, I know no other at all.

ਆਪਿ ਕਰਤਾ ਆਪਿ ਭੁਗਤਾ ਆਪਿ ਕਾਰਣੁ ਕੀਆ ॥

आपि करता आपि भुगता आपि कारणु कीआ ॥

Aapi karataa aapi bhugataa aapi kaara(nn)u keeaa ||

He Himself is the Creator, and He Himself is the Enjoyer. He created the Creation.

ਬਿਨਵੰਤਿ ਨਾਨਕ ਸੇਈ ਜਾਣਹਿ ਜਿਨੑੀ ਹਰਿ ਰਸੁ ਪੀਆ ॥੪॥੨॥

बिनवंति नानक सेई जाणहि जिन्ही हरि रसु पीआ ॥४॥२॥

Binavantti naanak seee jaa(nn)ahi jinhee hari rasu peeaa ||4||2||

Prays Nanak, they alone know this, who drink in the subtle essence of the Lord. ||4||2||

ਸਖੀ ਆਉ ਸਖੀ ਵਸਿ ਆਉ ਸਖੀ ਅਸੀ ਪਿਰ ਕਾ ਮੰਗਲੁ ਗਾਵਹ ॥

सखी आउ सखी वसि आउ सखी असी पिर का मंगलु गावह ॥

Sakhee aau sakhee vasi aau sakhee asee pir kaa manggalu gaavah ||

Come, O my sisters, come, O my companions, and let us remain under the Lord's control. Let's sing the Songs of Bliss of our Husband Lord.

ਤਜਿ ਮਾਨੁ ਸਖੀ ਤਜਿ ਮਾਨੁ ਸਖੀ ਮਤੁ ਆਪਣੇ ਪ੍ਰੀਤਮ ਭਾਵਹ ॥

तजि मानु सखी तजि मानु सखी मतु आपणे प्रीतम भावह ॥

Taji maanu sakhee taji maanu sakhee matu aapa(nn)e preetam bhaavah ||

Renounce your pride, O my companions, renounce your egotistical pride, O my sisters, so that you may become pleasing to your Beloved.

ਤਜਿ ਮਾਨੁ ਮੋਹੁ ਬਿਕਾਰੁ ਦੂਜਾ ਸੇਵਿ ਏਕੁ ਨਿਰੰਜਨੋ ॥

तजि मानु मोहु बिकारु दूजा सेवि एकु निरंजनो ॥

Taji maanu mohu bikaaru doojaa sevi eku niranjjano ||

Renounce pride, emotional attachment, corruption and duality, and serve the One Immaculate Lord.

ਲਗੁ ਚਰਣ ਸਰਣ ਦਇਆਲ ਪ੍ਰੀਤਮ ਸਗਲ ਦੁਰਤ ਬਿਖੰਡਨੋ ॥

लगु चरण सरण दइआल प्रीतम सगल दुरत बिखंडनो ॥

Lagu chara(nn) sara(nn) daiaal preetam sagal durat bikhanddano ||

Hold tight to the Sanctuary of the Feet of the Merciful Lord, your Beloved, the Destroyer of all sins.

ਹੋਇ ਦਾਸ ਦਾਸੀ ਤਜਿ ਉਦਾਸੀ ਬਹੁੜਿ ਬਿਧੀ ਨ ਧਾਵਾ ॥

होइ दास दासी तजि उदासी बहुड़ि बिधी न धावा ॥

Hoi daas daasee taji udaasee bahu(rr)i bidhee na dhaavaa ||

Be the slave of His slaves, forsake sorrow and sadness, and do not bother with other devices.

ਨਾਨਕੁ ਪਇਅੰਪੈ ਕਰਹੁ ਕਿਰਪਾ ਤਾਮਿ ਮੰਗਲੁ ਗਾਵਾ ॥੧॥

नानकु पइअ्मपै करहु किरपा तामि मंगलु गावा ॥१॥

Naanaku paiamppai karahu kirapaa taami manggalu gaavaa ||1||

Prays Nanak, O Lord, please bless me with Your Mercy, that I may sing Your songs of bliss. ||1||

ਅੰਮ੍ਰਿਤੁ ਪ੍ਰਿਅ ਕਾ ਨਾਮੁ ਮੈ ਅੰਧੁਲੇ ਟੋਹਨੀ ॥

अम्रितु प्रिअ का नामु मै अंधुले टोहनी ॥

Ammmritu pria kaa naamu mai anddhule tohanee ||

The Ambrosial Naam, the Name of my Beloved, is like a cane to a blind man.

ਓਹ ਜੋਹੈ ਬਹੁ ਪਰਕਾਰ ਸੁੰਦਰਿ ਮੋਹਨੀ ॥

ओह जोहै बहु परकार सुंदरि मोहनी ॥

Oh johai bahu parakaar sunddari mohanee ||

Maya seduces in so many ways, like a beautiful enticing woman.

ਮੋਹਨੀ ਮਹਾ ਬਚਿਤ੍ਰਿ ਚੰਚਲਿ ਅਨਿਕ ਭਾਵ ਦਿਖਾਵਏ ॥

मोहनी महा बचित्रि चंचलि अनिक भाव दिखावए ॥

Mohanee mahaa bachitri chancchali anik bhaav dikhaavae ||

This enticer is so incredibly beautiful and clever; she entices with countless suggestive gestures.

ਹੋਇ ਢੀਠ ਮੀਠੀ ਮਨਹਿ ਲਾਗੈ ਨਾਮੁ ਲੈਣ ਨ ਆਵਏ ॥

होइ ढीठ मीठी मनहि लागै नामु लैण न आवए ॥

Hoi dheeth meethee manahi laagai naamu lai(nn) na aavae ||

Maya is stubborn and persistent; she seems so sweet to the mind, and then he does not chant the Naam.

ਗ੍ਰਿਹ ਬਨਹਿ ਤੀਰੈ ਬਰਤ ਪੂਜਾ ਬਾਟ ਘਾਟੈ ਜੋਹਨੀ ॥

ग्रिह बनहि तीरै बरत पूजा बाट घाटै जोहनी ॥

Grih banahi teerai barat poojaa baat ghaatai johanee ||

At home, in the forest, on the banks of sacred rivers, fasting, worshipping, on the roads and on the shore, she is spying.

ਨਾਨਕੁ ਪਇਅੰਪੈ ਦਇਆ ਧਾਰਹੁ ਮੈ ਨਾਮੁ ਅੰਧੁਲੇ ਟੋਹਨੀ ॥੨॥

नानकु पइअ्मपै दइआ धारहु मै नामु अंधुले टोहनी ॥२॥

Naanaku paiamppai daiaa dhaarahu mai naamu anddhule tohanee ||2||

Prays Nanak, please bless me with Your Kindness, Lord; I am blind, and Your Name is my cane. ||2||

ਮੋਹਿ ਅਨਾਥ ਪ੍ਰਿਅ ਨਾਥ ਜਿਉ ਜਾਨਹੁ ਤਿਉ ਰਖਹੁ ॥

मोहि अनाथ प्रिअ नाथ जिउ जानहु तिउ रखहु ॥

Mohi anaath pria naath jiu jaanahu tiu rakhahu ||

I am helpless and masterless; You, O my Beloved, are my Lord and Master. As it pleases You, so do You protect me.

ਚਤੁਰਾਈ ਮੋਹਿ ਨਾਹਿ ਰੀਝਾਵਉ ਕਹਿ ਮੁਖਹੁ ॥

चतुराई मोहि नाहि रीझावउ कहि मुखहु ॥

Chaturaaee mohi naahi reejhaavau kahi mukhahu ||

I have no wisdom or cleverness; what face should I put on to please You?

ਨਹ ਚਤੁਰਿ ਸੁਘਰਿ ਸੁਜਾਨ ਬੇਤੀ ਮੋਹਿ ਨਿਰਗੁਨਿ ਗੁਨੁ ਨਹੀ ॥

नह चतुरि सुघरि सुजान बेती मोहि निरगुनि गुनु नही ॥

Nah chaturi sughari sujaan betee mohi niraguni gunu nahee ||

I am not clever, skillful or wise; I am worthless, without any virtue at all.

ਨਹ ਰੂਪ ਧੂਪ ਨ ਨੈਣ ਬੰਕੇ ਜਹ ਭਾਵੈ ਤਹ ਰਖੁ ਤੁਹੀ ॥

नह रूप धूप न नैण बंके जह भावै तह रखु तुही ॥

Nah roop dhoop na nai(nn) bankke jah bhaavai tah rakhu tuhee ||

I have no beauty or pleasing smell, no beautiful eyes. As it pleases You, please preserve me, O Lord.

ਜੈ ਜੈ ਜਇਅੰਪਹਿ ਸਗਲ ਜਾ ਕਉ ਕਰੁਣਾਪਤਿ ਗਤਿ ਕਿਨਿ ਲਖਹੁ ॥

जै जै जइअ्मपहि सगल जा कउ करुणापति गति किनि लखहु ॥

Jai jai jaiamppahi sagal jaa kau karu(nn)aapati gati kini lakhahu ||

His victory is celebrated by all; how can I know the state of the Lord of Mercy?

ਨਾਨਕੁ ਪਇਅੰਪੈ ਸੇਵ ਸੇਵਕੁ ਜਿਉ ਜਾਨਹੁ ਤਿਉ ਮੋਹਿ ਰਖਹੁ ॥੩॥

नानकु पइअ्मपै सेव सेवकु जिउ जानहु तिउ मोहि रखहु ॥३॥

Naanaku paiamppai sev sevaku jiu jaanahu tiu mohi rakhahu ||3||

Prays Nanak, I am the servant of Your servants; as it pleases You, please preserve me. ||3||

ਮੋਹਿ ਮਛੁਲੀ ਤੁਮ ਨੀਰ ਤੁਝ ਬਿਨੁ ਕਿਉ ਸਰੈ ॥

मोहि मछुली तुम नीर तुझ बिनु किउ सरै ॥

Mohi machhulee tum neer tujh binu kiu sarai ||

I am the fish, and You are the water; without You, what can I do?

ਮੋਹਿ ਚਾਤ੍ਰਿਕ ਤੁਮ੍ਹ੍ਹ ਬੂੰਦ ਤ੍ਰਿਪਤਉ ਮੁਖਿ ਪਰੈ ॥

मोहि चात्रिक तुम्ह बूंद त्रिपतउ मुखि परै ॥

Mohi chaatrik tumh boondd tripatau mukhi parai ||

I am the rainbird, and You are the rain-drop; when it falls into my mouth, I am satisfied.

ਮੁਖਿ ਪਰੈ ਹਰੈ ਪਿਆਸ ਮੇਰੀ ਜੀਅ ਹੀਆ ਪ੍ਰਾਨਪਤੇ ॥

मुखि परै हरै पिआस मेरी जीअ हीआ प्रानपते ॥

Mukhi parai harai piaas meree jeea heeaa praanapate ||

When it falls into my mouth, my thirst is quenched; You are the Lord of my soul, my heart, my breath of life.

ਲਾਡਿਲੇ ਲਾਡ ਲਡਾਇ ਸਭ ਮਹਿ ਮਿਲੁ ਹਮਾਰੀ ਹੋਇ ਗਤੇ ॥

लाडिले लाड लडाइ सभ महि मिलु हमारी होइ गते ॥

Laadile laad ladaai sabh mahi milu hamaaree hoi gate ||

Touch me, and caress me, O Lord, You are in all; let me meet You, so that I may be emancipated.

ਚੀਤਿ ਚਿਤਵਉ ਮਿਟੁ ਅੰਧਾਰੇ ਜਿਉ ਆਸ ਚਕਵੀ ਦਿਨੁ ਚਰੈ ॥

चीति चितवउ मिटु अंधारे जिउ आस चकवी दिनु चरै ॥

Cheeti chitavau mitu anddhaare jiu aas chakavee dinu charai ||

In my consciousness I remember You, and the darkness is dispelled, like the chakvi duck, which longs to see the dawn.

ਨਾਨਕੁ ਪਇਅੰਪੈ ਪ੍ਰਿਅ ਸੰਗਿ ਮੇਲੀ ਮਛੁਲੀ ਨੀਰੁ ਨ ਵੀਸਰੈ ॥੪॥

नानकु पइअ्मपै प्रिअ संगि मेली मछुली नीरु न वीसरै ॥४॥

Naanaku paiamppai pria sanggi melee machhulee neeru na veesarai ||4||

Prays Nanak, O my Beloved, please unite me with Yourself; the fish never forgets the water. ||4||

ਧਨਿ ਧੰਨਿ ਹਮਾਰੇ ਭਾਗ ਘਰਿ ਆਇਆ ਪਿਰੁ ਮੇਰਾ ॥

धनि धंनि हमारे भाग घरि आइआ पिरु मेरा ॥

Dhani dhanni hamaare bhaag ghari aaiaa piru meraa ||

Blessed, blessed is my destiny; my Husband Lord has come into my home.

ਸੋਹੇ ਬੰਕ ਦੁਆਰ ਸਗਲਾ ਬਨੁ ਹਰਾ ॥

सोहे बंक दुआर सगला बनु हरा ॥

Sohe bankk duaar sagalaa banu haraa ||

The gate of my mansion is so beautiful, and all my gardens are so green and alive.

ਹਰ ਹਰਾ ਸੁਆਮੀ ਸੁਖਹ ਗਾਮੀ ਅਨਦ ਮੰਗਲ ਰਸੁ ਘਣਾ ॥

हर हरा सुआमी सुखह गामी अनद मंगल रसु घणा ॥

Har haraa suaamee sukhah gaamee anad manggal rasu gha(nn)aa ||

My peace-giving Lord and Master has rejuvenated me, and blessed me with great joy, bliss and love.

ਨਵਲ ਨਵਤਨ ਨਾਹੁ ਬਾਲਾ ਕਵਨ ਰਸਨਾ ਗੁਨ ਭਣਾ ॥

नवल नवतन नाहु बाला कवन रसना गुन भणा ॥

Naval navatan naahu baalaa kavan rasanaa gun bha(nn)aa ||

My Young Husband Lord is eternally young, and His body is forever youthful; what tongue can I use to chant His Glorious Praises?

ਮੇਰੀ ਸੇਜ ਸੋਹੀ ਦੇਖਿ ਮੋਹੀ ਸਗਲ ਸਹਸਾ ਦੁਖੁ ਹਰਾ ॥

मेरी सेज सोही देखि मोही सगल सहसा दुखु हरा ॥

Meree sej sohee dekhi mohee sagal sahasaa dukhu haraa ||

My bed is beautiful; gazing upon Him, I am fascinated, and all my doubts and pains are dispelled.

ਨਾਨਕੁ ਪਇਅੰਪੈ ਮੇਰੀ ਆਸ ਪੂਰੀ ਮਿਲੇ ਸੁਆਮੀ ਅਪਰੰਪਰਾ ॥੫॥੧॥੩॥

नानकु पइअ्मपै मेरी आस पूरी मिले सुआमी अपर्मपरा ॥५॥१॥३॥

Naanaku paiamppai meree aas pooree mile suaamee aparampparaa ||5||1||3||

Prays Nanak, my hopes are fulfilled; my Lord and Master is unlimited. ||5||1||3||

ਹਰਿ ਖੋਜਹੁ ਵਡਭਾਗੀਹੋ ਮਿਲਿ ਸਾਧੂ ਸੰਗੇ ਰਾਮ ॥

हरि खोजहु वडभागीहो मिलि साधू संगे राम ॥

Hari khojahu vadabhaageeho mili saadhoo sangge raam ||

Seek the Lord, O fortunate ones, and join the Saadh Sangat, the Company of the Holy.

ਗੁਨ ਗੋਵਿਦ ਸਦ ਗਾਈਅਹਿ ਪਾਰਬ੍ਰਹਮ ਕੈ ਰੰਗੇ ਰਾਮ ॥

गुन गोविद सद गाईअहि पारब्रहम कै रंगे राम ॥

Gun govid sad gaaeeahi paarabrham kai rangge raam ||

Sing the Glorious Praises of the Lord of the Universe forever, imbued with the Love of the Supreme Lord God.

ਸੋ ਪ੍ਰਭੁ ਸਦ ਹੀ ਸੇਵੀਐ ਪਾਈਅਹਿ ਫਲ ਮੰਗੇ ਰਾਮ ॥

सो प्रभु सद ही सेवीऐ पाईअहि फल मंगे राम ॥

So prbhu sad hee seveeai paaeeahi phal mangge raam ||

Serving God forever, you shall obtain the fruitful rewards you desire.

ਨਾਨਕ ਪ੍ਰਭ ਸਰਣਾਗਤੀ ਜਪਿ ਅਨਤ ਤਰੰਗੇ ਰਾਮ ॥੧॥

नानक प्रभ सरणागती जपि अनत तरंगे राम ॥१॥

Naanak prbh sara(nn)aagatee japi anat tarangge raam ||1||

O Nanak, seek the Sanctuary of God; meditate on the Lord, and ride the many waves of the mind. ||1||

ਇਕੁ ਤਿਲੁ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਨ ਵੀਸਰੈ ਜਿਨਿ ਸਭੁ ਕਿਛੁ ਦੀਨਾ ਰਾਮ ॥

इकु तिलु प्रभू न वीसरै जिनि सभु किछु दीना राम ॥

Iku tilu prbhoo na veesarai jini sabhu kichhu deenaa raam ||

I shall not forget God, even for an instant; He has blessed me with everything.

ਵਡਭਾਗੀ ਮੇਲਾਵੜਾ ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿ ਪਿਰੁ ਚੀਨੑਾ ਰਾਮ ॥

वडभागी मेलावड़ा गुरमुखि पिरु चीन्हा राम ॥

Vadabhaagee melaava(rr)aa guramukhi piru cheenhaa raam ||

By great good fortune, I have met Him; as Gurmukh, I contemplate my Husband Lord.

ਬਾਹ ਪਕੜਿ ਤਮ ਤੇ ਕਾਢਿਆ ਕਰਿ ਅਪੁਨਾ ਲੀਨਾ ਰਾਮ ॥

बाह पकड़ि तम ते काढिआ करि अपुना लीना राम ॥

Baah paka(rr)i tam te kaadhiaa kari apunaa leenaa raam ||

Holding me by the arm, He has lifted me up and pulled me out of the darkness, and made me His own.

ਨਾਮੁ ਜਪਤ ਨਾਨਕ ਜੀਵੈ ਸੀਤਲੁ ਮਨੁ ਸੀਨਾ ਰਾਮ ॥੨॥

नामु जपत नानक जीवै सीतलु मनु सीना राम ॥२॥

Naamu japat naanak jeevai seetalu manu seenaa raam ||2||

Chanting the Naam, the Name of the Lord, Nanak lives; his mind and heart are cooled and soothed. ||2||

ਕਿਆ ਗੁਣ ਤੇਰੇ ਕਹਿ ਸਕਉ ਪ੍ਰਭ ਅੰਤਰਜਾਮੀ ਰਾਮ ॥

किआ गुण तेरे कहि सकउ प्रभ अंतरजामी राम ॥

Kiaa gu(nn) tere kahi sakau prbh anttarajaamee raam ||

What virtues of Yours can I speak, O God, O Searcher of hearts?

ਸਿਮਰਿ ਸਿਮਰਿ ਨਾਰਾਇਣੈ ਭਏ ਪਾਰਗਰਾਮੀ ਰਾਮ ॥

सिमरि सिमरि नाराइणै भए पारगरामी राम ॥

Simari simari naaraai(nn)ai bhae paaragaraamee raam ||

Meditating, meditating in remembrance on the Lord, I have crossed over to the other shore.

ਗੁਨ ਗਾਵਤ ਗੋਵਿੰਦ ਕੇ ਸਭ ਇਛ ਪੁਜਾਮੀ ਰਾਮ ॥

गुन गावत गोविंद के सभ इछ पुजामी राम ॥

Gun gaavat govindd ke sabh ichh pujaamee raam ||

Singing the Glorious Praises of the Lord of the Universe, all my desires are fulfilled.

ਨਾਨਕ ਉਧਰੇ ਜਪਿ ਹਰੇ ਸਭਹੂ ਕਾ ਸੁਆਮੀ ਰਾਮ ॥੩॥

नानक उधरे जपि हरे सभहू का सुआमी राम ॥३॥

Naanak udhare japi hare sabhahoo kaa suaamee raam ||3||

Nanak is saved, meditating on the Lord, the Lord and Master of all. ||3||

ਰਸ ਭਿੰਨਿਅੜੇ ਅਪੁਨੇ ਰਾਮ ਸੰਗੇ ਸੇ ਲੋਇਣ ਨੀਕੇ ਰਾਮ ॥

रस भिंनिअड़े अपुने राम संगे से लोइण नीके राम ॥

Ras bhinnia(rr)e apune raam sangge se loi(nn) neeke raam ||

Sublime are those eyes, which are drenched with the Love of the Lord.

ਪ੍ਰਭ ਪੇਖਤ ਇਛਾ ਪੁੰਨੀਆ ਮਿਲਿ ਸਾਜਨ ਜੀ ਕੇ ਰਾਮ ॥

प्रभ पेखत इछा पुंनीआ मिलि साजन जी के राम ॥

Prbh pekhat ichhaa punneeaa mili saajan jee ke raam ||

Gazing upon God, my desires are fulfilled; I have met the Lord, the Friend of my soul.

ਅੰਮ੍ਰਿਤ ਰਸੁ ਹਰਿ ਪਾਇਆ ਬਿਖਿਆ ਰਸ ਫੀਕੇ ਰਾਮ ॥

अम्रित रसु हरि पाइआ बिखिआ रस फीके राम ॥

Ammmrit rasu hari paaiaa bikhiaa ras pheeke raam ||

I have obtained the Ambrosial Nectar of the Lord's Love, and now the taste of corruption is insipid and tasteless to me.

ਨਾਨਕ ਜਲੁ ਜਲਹਿ ਸਮਾਇਆ ਜੋਤੀ ਜੋਤਿ ਮੀਕੇ ਰਾਮ ॥੪॥੨॥੫॥੯॥

नानक जलु जलहि समाइआ जोती जोति मीके राम ॥४॥२॥५॥९॥

Naanak jalu jalahi samaaiaa jotee joti meeke raam ||4||2||5||9||

O Nanak, as water mingles with water, my light has merged into the Light. ||4||2||5||9||

हरि उतमु हरि प्रभु गाविआ करि नादु बिलावलु रागु ॥

Hari utamu hari prbhu gaaviaa kari naadu bilaavalu raagu ||

I sing of the sublime Lord, the Lord God, in the melody of Raag Bilaaval.

ਉਪਦੇਸੁ ਗੁਰੂ ਸੁਣਿ ਮੰਨਿਆ ਧੁਰਿ ਮਸਤਕਿ ਪੂਰਾ ਭਾਗੁ ॥

उपदेसु गुरू सुणि मंनिआ धुरि मसतकि पूरा भागु ॥

Upadesu guroo su(nn)i manniaa dhuri masataki pooraa bhaagu ||

Hearing the Guru's Teachings, I obey them; this is the pre-ordained destiny written upon my forehead.

ਸਭ ਦਿਨਸੁ ਰੈਣਿ ਗੁਣ ਉਚਰੈ ਹਰਿ ਹਰਿ ਹਰਿ ਉਰਿ ਲਿਵ ਲਾਗੁ ॥

सभ दिनसु रैणि गुण उचरै हरि हरि हरि उरि लिव लागु ॥

Sabh dinasu rai(nn)i gu(nn) ucharai hari hari hari uri liv laagu ||

All day and night, I chant the Glorious Praises of the Lord, Har, Har, Har; within my heart, I am lovingly attuned to Him.

ਸਭੁ ਤਨੁ ਮਨੁ ਹਰਿਆ ਹੋਇਆ ਮਨੁ ਖਿੜਿਆ ਹਰਿਆ ਬਾਗੁ ॥

सभु तनु मनु हरिआ होइआ मनु खिड़िआ हरिआ बागु ॥

Sabhu tanu manu hariaa hoiaa manu khi(rr)iaa hariaa baagu ||

My body and mind are totally rejuvenated, and the garden of my mind has blossomed forth in lush abundance.

ਅਗਿਆਨੁ ਅੰਧੇਰਾ ਮਿਟਿ ਗਇਆ ਗੁਰ ਚਾਨਣੁ ਗਿਆਨੁ ਚਰਾਗੁ ॥

अगिआनु अंधेरा मिटि गइआ गुर चानणु गिआनु चरागु ॥

Agiaanu anddheraa miti gaiaa gur chaana(nn)u giaanu charaagu ||

The darkness of ignorance has been dispelled, with the light of the lamp of the Guru's wisdom. Servant Nanak lives by beholding the Lord.

ਜਨੁ ਨਾਨਕੁ ਜੀਵੈ ਦੇਖਿ ਹਰਿ ਇਕ ਨਿਮਖ ਘੜੀ ਮੁਖਿ ਲਾਗੁ ॥੧॥

जनु नानकु जीवै देखि हरि इक निमख घड़ी मुखि लागु ॥१॥

Janu naanaku jeevai dekhi hari ik nimakh gha(rr)ee mukhi laagu ||1||

Let me behold Your face, for a moment, even an instant! ||1||

ਬਿਲਾਵਲੁ ਤਬ ਹੀ ਕੀਜੀਐ ਜਬ ਮੁਖਿ ਹੋਵੈ ਨਾਮੁ ॥

बिलावलु तब ही कीजीऐ जब मुखि होवै नामु ॥

Bilaavalu tab hee keejeeai jab mukhi hovai naamu ||

Be happy and sing in Bilaaval, when the Naam, the Name of the Lord, is in your mouth.

ਰਾਗ ਨਾਦ ਸਬਦਿ ਸੋਹਣੇ ਜਾ ਲਾਗੈ ਸਹਜਿ ਧਿਆਨੁ ॥

राग नाद सबदि सोहणे जा लागै सहजि धिआनु ॥

Raag naad sabadi soha(nn)e jaa laagai sahaji dhiaanu ||

The melody and music, and the Word of the Shabad are beautiful, when one focuses his meditation on the celestial Lord.

ਰਾਗ ਨਾਦ ਛੋਡਿ ਹਰਿ ਸੇਵੀਐ ਤਾ ਦਰਗਹ ਪਾਈਐ ਮਾਨੁ ॥

राग नाद छोडि हरि सेवीऐ ता दरगह पाईऐ मानु ॥

Raag naad chhodi hari seveeai taa daragah paaeeai maanu ||

So leave behind the melody and music, and serve the Lord; then, you shall obtain honor in the Court of the Lord.

ਨਾਨਕ ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿ ਬ੍ਰਹਮੁ ਬੀਚਾਰੀਐ ਚੂਕੈ ਮਨਿ ਅਭਿਮਾਨੁ ॥੨॥

नानक गुरमुखि ब्रहमु बीचारीऐ चूकै मनि अभिमानु ॥२॥

Naanak guramukhi brhamu beechaareeai chookai mani abhimaanu ||2||

O Nanak, as Gurmukh, contemplate God, and rid your mind of egotistical pride. ||2||

Pauree:

ਤੂ ਹਰਿ ਪ੍ਰਭੁ ਆਪਿ ਅਗੰਮੁ ਹੈ ਸਭਿ ਤੁਧੁ ਉਪਾਇਆ ॥

तू हरि प्रभु आपि अगमु है सभि तुधु उपाइआ ॥

Too hari prbhu aapi agammu hai sabhi tudhu upaaiaa ||

O Lord God, You Yourself are inaccessible; You formed everything.

ਤੂ ਆਪੇ ਆਪਿ ਵਰਤਦਾ ਸਭੁ ਜਗਤੁ ਸਬਾਇਆ ॥

तू आपे आपि वरतदा सभु जगतु सबाइआ ॥

Too aape aapi varatadaa sabhu jagatu sabaaiaa ||

You Yourself are totally permeating and pervading the entire universe.

ਤੁਧੁ ਆਪੇ ਤਾੜੀ ਲਾਈਐ ਆਪੇ ਗੁਣ ਗਾਇਆ ॥

तुधु आपे ताड़ी लाईऐ आपे गुण गाइआ ॥

Tudhu aape taa(rr)ee laaeeai aape gu(nn) gaaiaa ||

You Yourself are absorbed in the state of deep meditation; You Yourself sing Your Glorious Praises.

ਹਰਿ ਧਿਆਵਹੁ ਭਗਤਹੁ ਦਿਨਸੁ ਰਾਤਿ ਅੰਤਿ ਲਏ ਛਡਾਇਆ ॥

हरि धिआवहु भगतहु दिनसु राति अंति लए छडाइआ ॥

Hari dhiaavahu bhagatahu dinasu raati antti lae chhadaaiaa ||

Meditate on the Lord, O devotees, day and night; He shall deliver you in the end.

ਜਿਨਿ ਸੇਵਿਆ ਤਿਨਿ ਸੁਖੁ ਪਾਇਆ ਹਰਿ ਨਾਮਿ ਸਮਾਇਆ ॥੧॥

जिनि सेविआ तिनि सुखु पाइआ हरि नामि समाइआ ॥१॥

Jini seviaa tini sukhu paaiaa hari naami samaaiaa ||1||

Those who serve the Lord, find peace; they are absorbed in the Name of the Lord. ||1||

ਦੂਜੈ ਭਾਇ ਬਿਲਾਵਲੁ ਨ ਹੋਵਈ ਮਨਮੁਖਿ ਥਾਇ ਨ ਪਾਇ ॥

दूजै भाइ बिलावलु न होवई मनमुखि थाइ न पाइ ॥

Doojai bhaai bilaavalu na hovaee manamukhi thaai na paai ||

In the love of duality, the happiness of Bilaaval does not come; the self-willed manmukh finds no place of rest.

ਪਾਖੰਡਿ ਭਗਤਿ ਨ ਹੋਵਈ ਪਾਰਬ੍ਰਹਮੁ ਨ ਪਾਇਆ ਜਾਇ ॥

पाखंडि भगति न होवई पारब्रहमु न पाइआ जाइ ॥

Paakhanddi bhagati na hovaee paarabrhamu na paaiaa jaai ||

Through hypocrisy, devotional worship does not come, and the Supreme Lord God is not found.

ਮਨਹਠਿ ਕਰਮ ਕਮਾਵਣੇ ਥਾਇ ਨ ਕੋਈ ਪਾਇ ॥

मनहठि करम कमावणे थाइ न कोई पाइ ॥

Manahathi karam kamaava(nn)e thaai na koee paai ||

By stubborn-mindedly performing religious rituals, no one obtains the approval of the Lord.

ਨਾਨਕ ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿ ਆਪੁ ਬੀਚਾਰੀਐ ਵਿਚਹੁ ਆਪੁ ਗਵਾਇ ॥

नानक गुरमुखि आपु बीचारीऐ विचहु आपु गवाइ ॥

Naanak guramukhi aapu beechaareeai vichahu aapu gavaai ||

O Nanak, the Gurmukh understands himself, and eradicates self-conceit from within.

ਆਪੇ ਆਪਿ ਪਾਰਬ੍ਰਹਮੁ ਹੈ ਪਾਰਬ੍ਰਹਮੁ ਵਸਿਆ ਮਨਿ ਆਇ ॥

आपे आपि पारब्रहमु है पारब्रहमु वसिआ मनि आइ ॥

Aape aapi paarabrhamu hai paarabrhamu vasiaa mani aai ||

He Himself is the Supreme Lord God; the Supreme Lord God comes to dwell in his mind.

ਜੰਮਣੁ ਮਰਣਾ ਕਟਿਆ ਜੋਤੀ ਜੋਤਿ ਮਿਲਾਇ ॥੧॥

जमणु मरणा कटिआ जोती जोति मिलाइ ॥१॥

Jamma(nn)u mara(nn)aa katiaa jotee joti milaai ||1||

Birth and death are erased, and his light blends with the Light. ||1||

ਬਿਲਾਵਲੁ ਕਰਿਹੁ ਤੁਮ੍ਹ੍ਹ ਪਿਆਰਿਹੋ ਏਕਸੁ ਸਿਉ ਲਿਵ ਲਾਇ ॥

बिलावलु करिहु तुम्ह पिआरिहो एकसु सिउ लिव लाइ ॥

Bilaavalu karihu tumh piaariho ekasu siu liv laai ||

Be happy in Bilaaval, O my beloveds, and embrace love for the One Lord.

ਜਨਮ ਮਰਣ ਦੁਖੁ ਕਟੀਐ ਸਚੇ ਰਹੈ ਸਮਾਇ ॥

जनम मरण दुखु कटीऐ सचे रहै समाइ ॥

Janam mara(nn) dukhu kateeai sache rahai samaai ||

The pains of birth and death shall be eradicated, and you shall remain absorbed in the True Lord.

ਸਦਾ ਬਿਲਾਵਲੁ ਅਨੰਦੁ ਹੈ ਜੇ ਚਲਹਿ ਸਤਿਗੁਰ ਭਾਇ ॥

सदा बिलावलु अनंदु है जे चलहि सतिगुर भाइ ॥

Sadaa bilaavalu ananddu hai je chalahi satigur bhaai ||

You shall be blissful forever in Bilaaval, if you walk in harmony with the Will of the True Guru.

ਸਤਸੰਗਤੀ ਬਹਿ ਭਾਉ ਕਰਿ ਸਦਾ ਹਰਿ ਕੇ ਗੁਣ ਗਾਇ ॥

सतसंगती बहि भाउ करि सदा हरि के गुण गाइ ॥

Satasanggatee bahi bhaau kari sadaa hari ke gu(nn) gaai ||

Sitting in the Saints' Congregation, sing with love the Glorious Praises of the Lord forever.

ਨਾਨਕ ਸੇ ਜਨ ਸੋਹਣੇ ਜਿ ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿ ਮੇਲਿ ਮਿਲਾਇ ॥੨॥

नानक से जन सोहणे जि गुरमुखि मेलि मिलाइ ॥२॥

Naanak se jan soha(nn)e ji guramukhi meli milaai ||2||

O Nanak, beautiful are those humble beings, who, as Gurmukh, are united in the Lord's Union. ||2||

ਸਭਨਾ ਜੀਆ ਵਿਚਿ ਹਰਿ ਆਪਿ ਸੋ ਭਗਤਾ ਕਾ ਮਿਤੁ ਹਰਿ ॥

सभना जीआ विचि हरि आपि सो भगता का मितु हरि ॥

Sabhanaa jeeaa vichi hari aapi so bhagataa kaa mitu hari ||

The Lord Himself is within all beings. The Lord is the friend of His devotees.

ਸਭੁ ਕੋਈ ਹਰਿ ਕੈ ਵਸਿ ਭਗਤਾ ਕੈ ਅਨੰਦੁ ਘਰਿ ॥

सभु कोई हरि कै वसि भगता कै अनंदु घरि ॥

Sabhu koee hari kai vasi bhagataa kai ananddu ghari ||

Everyone is under the Lord's control; in the home of the devotees there is bliss.

ਹਰਿ ਭਗਤਾ ਕਾ ਮੇਲੀ ਸਰਬਤ ਸਉ ਨਿਸੁਲ ਜਨ ਟੰਗ ਧਰਿ ॥

हरि भगता का मेली सरबत सउ निसुल जन टंग धरि ॥

Hari bhagataa kaa melee sarabat sau nisul jan tangg dhari ||

The Lord is the friend and companion of His devotees; all His humble servants stretch out and sleep in peace.

ਹਰਿ ਸਭਨਾ ਕਾ ਹੈ ਖਸਮੁ ਸੋ ਭਗਤ ਜਨ ਚਿਤਿ ਕਰਿ ॥

हरि सभना का है खसमु सो भगत जन चिति करि ॥

Hari sabhanaa kaa hai khasamu so bhagat jan chiti kari ||

The Lord is the Lord and Master of all; O humble devotee, remember Him.

ਤੁਧੁ ਅਪੜਿ ਕੋਇ ਨ ਸਕੈ ਸਭ ਝਖਿ ਝਖਿ ਪਵੈ ਝੜਿ ॥੨॥

तुधु अपड़ि कोइ न सकै सभ झखि झखि पवै झड़ि ॥२॥

Tudhu apa(rr)i koi na sakai sabh jhakhi jhakhi pavai jha(rr)i ||2||

No one can equal You, Lord. Those who try, struggle and die in frustration. ||2||

Shalok, Third Mehl:

ਬ੍ਰਹਮੁ ਬਿੰਦਹਿ ਤੇ ਬ੍ਰਾਹਮਣਾ ਜੇ ਚਲਹਿ ਸਤਿਗੁਰ ਭਾਇ ॥

ब्रहमु बिंदहि ते ब्राहमणा जे चलहि सतिगुर भाइ ॥

Brhamu binddahi te braahama(nn)aa je chalahi satigur bhaai ||

He alone knows God, and he alone is a Brahmin, who walks in harmony with the Will of the True Guru.

ਜਿਨ ਕੈ ਹਿਰਦੈ ਹਰਿ ਵਸੈ ਹਉਮੈ ਰੋਗੁ ਗਵਾਇ ॥

जिन कै हिरदै हरि वसै हउमै रोगु गवाइ ॥

Jin kai hiradai hari vasai haumai rogu gavaai ||

One whose heart is filled with the Lord, is freed of egotism and disease.

ਗੁਣ ਰਵਹਿ ਗੁਣ ਸੰਗ੍ਰਹਹਿ ਜੋਤੀ ਜੋਤਿ ਮਿਲਾਇ ॥

गुण रवहि गुण संग्रहहि जोती जोति मिलाइ ॥

Gu(nn) ravahi gu(nn) sanggrhahi jotee joti milaai ||

He chants the Lord's Praises, gathers virtue, and his light merges into the Light.

ਇਸੁ ਜੁਗ ਮਹਿ ਵਿਰਲੇ ਬ੍ਰਾਹਮਣ ਬ੍ਰਹਮੁ ਬਿੰਦਹਿ ਚਿਤੁ ਲਾਇ ॥

इसु जुग महि विरले ब्राहमण ब्रहमु बिंदहि चितु लाइ ॥

Isu jug mahi virale braahama(nn) brhamu binddahi chitu laai ||

How rare are those Brahmins who, in this age, come to know God, by lovingly focusing their consciousness on Him.

ਨਾਨਕ ਜਿਨੑ ਕਉ ਨਦਰਿ ਕਰੇ ਹਰਿ ਸਚਾ ਸੇ ਨਾਮਿ ਰਹੇ ਲਿਵ ਲਾਇ ॥੧॥

नानक जिन्ह कउ नदरि करे हरि सचा से नामि रहे लिव लाइ ॥१॥

Naanak jinh kau nadari kare hari sachaa se naami rahe liv laai ||1||

O Nanak, those who are blessed by the Lord's Glance of Grace, remain lovingly attuned to the Name of the True Lord. ||1||

Third Mehl:

ਸਤਿਗੁਰ ਕੀ ਸੇਵ ਨ ਕੀਤੀਆ ਸਬਦਿ ਨ ਲਗੋ ਭਾਉ ॥

सतिगुर की सेव न कीतीआ सबदि न लगो भाउ ॥

Satigur kee sev na keeteeaa sabadi na lago bhaau ||

One who does not serve the True Guru, and who does not love the Word of the Shabad,

ਹਉਮੈ ਰੋਗੁ ਕਮਾਵਣਾ ਅਤਿ ਦੀਰਘੁ ਬਹੁ ਸੁਆਉ ॥

हउमै रोगु कमावणा अति दीरघु बहु सुआउ ॥

Haumai rogu kamaava(nn)aa ati deeraghu bahu suaau ||

Earns the very painful disease of egotism; he is so very selfish.

ਮਨਹਠਿ ਕਰਮ ਕਮਾਵਣੇ ਫਿਰਿ ਫਿਰਿ ਜੋਨੀ ਪਾਇ ॥

मनहठि करम कमावणे फिरि फिरि जोनी पाइ ॥

Manahathi karam kamaava(nn)e phiri phiri jonee paai ||

Acting stubborn-mindedly, he is reincarnated over and over again.

ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿ ਜਨਮੁ ਸਫਲੁ ਹੈ ਜਿਸ ਨੋ ਆਪੇ ਲਏ ਮਿਲਾਇ ॥

गुरमुखि जनमु सफलु है जिस नो आपे लए मिलाइ ॥

Guramukhi janamu saphalu hai jis no aape lae milaai ||

The birth of the Gurmukh is fruitful and auspicious. The Lord unites him with Himself.

ਨਾਨਕ ਨਦਰੀ ਨਦਰਿ ਕਰੇ ਤਾ ਨਾਮ ਧਨੁ ਪਲੈ ਪਾਇ ॥੨॥

नानक नदरी नदरि करे ता नाम धनु पलै पाइ ॥२॥

Naanak nadaree nadari kare taa naam dhanu palai paai ||2||

O Nanak, when the Merciful Lord grants His Mercy, one obtains the wealth of the Naam, the Name of the Lord. ||2||

Pauree:

ਸਭ ਵਡਿਆਈਆ ਹਰਿ ਨਾਮ ਵਿਚਿ ਹਰਿ ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿ ਧਿਆਈਐ ॥

सभ वडिआईआ हरि नाम विचि हरि गुरमुखि धिआईऐ ॥

Sabh vadiaaeeaa hari naam vichi hari guramukhi dhiaaeeai ||

All glorious greatness is in the Name of the Lord; as Gurmukh, meditate on the Lord.

ਜਿ ਵਸਤੁ ਮੰਗੀਐ ਸਾਈ ਪਾਈਐ ਜੇ ਨਾਮਿ ਚਿਤੁ ਲਾਈਐ ॥

जि वसतु मंगीऐ साई पाईऐ जे नामि चितु लाईऐ ॥

Ji vasatu manggeeai saaee paaeeai je naami chitu laaeeai ||

One obtains all that he asks for, if he keeps his consciousness focused on the Lord.

ਗੁਹਜ ਗਲ ਜੀਅ ਕੀ ਕੀਚੈ ਸਤਿਗੁਰੂ ਪਾਸਿ ਤਾ ਸਰਬ ਸੁਖੁ ਪਾਈਐ ॥

गुहज गल जीअ की कीचै सतिगुरू पासि ता सरब सुखु पाईऐ ॥

Guhaj gal jeea kee keechai satiguroo paasi taa sarab sukhu paaeeai ||

If he tells the secrets of his soul to the True Guru, then he finds absolute peace.

ਗੁਰੁ ਪੂਰਾ ਹਰਿ ਉਪਦੇਸੁ ਦੇਇ ਸਭ ਭੁਖ ਲਹਿ ਜਾਈਐ ॥

गुरु पूरा हरि उपदेसु देइ सभ भुख लहि जाईऐ ॥

Guru pooraa hari upadesu dei sabh bhukh lahi jaaeeai ||

When the Perfect Guru bestows the Lord's Teachings, then all hunger departs.

ਜਿਸੁ ਪੂਰਬਿ ਹੋਵੈ ਲਿਖਿਆ ਸੋ ਹਰਿ ਗੁਣ ਗਾਈਐ ॥੩॥

जिसु पूरबि होवै लिखिआ सो हरि गुण गाईऐ ॥३॥

Jisu poorabi hovai likhiaa so hari gu(nn) gaaeeai ||3||

One who is blessed with such pre-ordained destiny, sings the Glorious Praises of the Lord. ||3||

ਸਤਿਗੁਰ ਤੇ ਖਾਲੀ ਕੋ ਨਹੀ ਮੇਰੈ ਪ੍ਰਭਿ ਮੇਲਿ ਮਿਲਾਏ ॥

सतिगुर ते खाली को नही मेरै प्रभि मेलि मिलाए ॥

Satigur te khaalee ko nahee merai prbhi meli milaae ||

No one goes away empty-handed from the True Guru; He unites me in Union with my God.

ਸਤਿਗੁਰ ਕਾ ਦਰਸਨੁ ਸਫਲੁ ਹੈ ਜੇਹਾ ਕੋ ਇਛੇ ਤੇਹਾ ਫਲੁ ਪਾਏ ॥

सतिगुर का दरसनु सफलु है जेहा को इछे तेहा फलु पाए ॥

Satigur kaa darasanu saphalu hai jehaa ko ichhe tehaa phalu paae ||

Fruitful is the Blessed Vision of the Darshan of the True Guru; through it, one obtains whatever fruitful rewards he desires.

ਗੁਰ ਕਾ ਸਬਦੁ ਅੰਮ੍ਰਿਤੁ ਹੈ ਸਭ ਤ੍ਰਿਸਨਾ ਭੁਖ ਗਵਾਏ ॥

गुर का सबदु अम्रितु है सभ त्रिसना भुख गवाए ॥

Gur kaa sabadu ammmritu hai sabh trisanaa bhukh gavaae ||

The Word of the Guru's Shabad is Ambrosial Nectar. It banishes all hunger and thirst.

ਹਰਿ ਰਸੁ ਪੀ ਸੰਤੋਖੁ ਹੋਆ ਸਚੁ ਵਸਿਆ ਮਨਿ ਆਏ ॥

हरि रसु पी संतोखु होआ सचु वसिआ मनि आए ॥

Hari rasu pee santtokhu hoaa sachu vasiaa mani aae ||

Drinking in the sublime essence of the Lord brings contentment; the True Lord comes to dwell in the mind.

ਸਚੁ ਧਿਆਇ ਅਮਰਾ ਪਦੁ ਪਾਇਆ ਅਨਹਦ ਸਬਦ ਵਜਾਏ ॥

सचु धिआइ अमरा पदु पाइआ अनहद सबद वजाए ॥

Sachu dhiaai amaraa padu paaiaa anahad sabad vajaae ||

Meditating on the True Lord, the status of immortality is obtained; the Unstruck Word of the Shabad vibrates and resounds.

ਸਚੋ ਦਹ ਦਿਸਿ ਪਸਰਿਆ ਗੁਰ ਕੈ ਸਹਜਿ ਸੁਭਾਏ ॥

सचो दह दिसि पसरिआ गुर कै सहजि सुभाए ॥

Sacho dah disi pasariaa gur kai sahaji subhaae ||

The True Lord is pervading in the ten directions; through the Guru, this is intuitively known.

ਨਾਨਕ ਜਿਨ ਅੰਦਰਿ ਸਚੁ ਹੈ ਸੇ ਜਨ ਛਪਹਿ ਨ ਕਿਸੈ ਦੇ ਛਪਾਏ ॥੧॥

नानक जिन अंदरि सचु है से जन छपहि न किसै दे छपाए ॥१॥

Naanak jin anddari sachu hai se jan chhapahi na kisai de chhapaae ||1||

O Nanak, those humble beings who have the Truth deep within, are never hidden, even if others try to hide them. ||1||

ਗੁਰ ਸੇਵਾ ਤੇ ਹਰਿ ਪਾਈਐ ਜਾ ਕਉ ਨਦਰਿ ਕਰੇਇ ॥

गुर सेवा ते हरि पाईऐ जा कउ नदरि करेइ ॥

Gur sevaa te hari paaeeai jaa kau nadari karei ||

Serving the Guru, one finds the Lord, when the Lord blesses him with His Glance of Grace.

ਮਾਨਸ ਤੇ ਦੇਵਤੇ ਭਏ ਸਚੀ ਭਗਤਿ ਜਿਸੁ ਦੇਇ ॥

मानस ते देवते भए सची भगति जिसु देइ ॥

Maanas te devate bhae sachee bhagati jisu dei ||

Human beings become angels, when the Lord blesses them with true devotional worship.

ਹਉਮੈ ਮਾਰਿ ਮਿਲਾਇਅਨੁ ਗੁਰ ਕੈ ਸਬਦਿ ਸੁਚੇਇ ॥

हउमै मारि मिलाइअनु गुर कै सबदि सुचेइ ॥

Haumai maari milaaianu gur kai sabadi suchei ||

Conquering egotism, they are blended with the Lord; through the Word of the Guru's Shabad, they are purified.

ਨਾਨਕ ਸਹਜੇ ਮਿਲਿ ਰਹੇ ਨਾਮੁ ਵਡਿਆਈ ਦੇਇ ॥੨॥

नानक सहजे मिलि रहे नामु वडिआई देइ ॥२॥

Naanak sahaje mili rahe naamu vadiaaee dei ||2||

O Nanak, they remain merged with the Lord; they are blessed with the glorious greatness of the Naam. ||2||

Pauree:

ਗੁਰ ਸਤਿਗੁਰ ਵਿਚਿ ਨਾਵੈ ਕੀ ਵਡੀ ਵਡਿਆਈ ਹਰਿ ਕਰਤੈ ਆਪਿ ਵਧਾਈ ॥

गुर सतिगुर विचि नावै की वडी वडिआई हरि करतै आपि वधाई ॥

Gur satigur vichi naavai kee vadee vadiaaee hari karatai aapi vadhaaee ||

Within the Guru, the True Guru, is the glorious greatness of the Name. The Creator Lord Himself has magnified it.

ਸੇਵਕ ਸਿਖ ਸਭਿ ਵੇਖਿ ਵੇਖਿ ਜੀਵਨੑਿ ਓਨੑਾ ਅੰਦਰਿ ਹਿਰਦੈ ਭਾਈ ॥

सेवक सिख सभि वेखि वेखि जीवन्हि ओन्हा अंदरि हिरदै भाई ॥

Sevak sikh sabhi vekhi vekhi jeevanhi onhaa anddari hiradai bhaaee ||

All His servants and Sikhs live by gazing, gazing upon it. It is pleasing to their hearts deep within.

ਨਿੰਦਕ ਦੁਸਟ ਵਡਿਆਈ ਵੇਖਿ ਨ ਸਕਨਿ ਓਨੑਾ ਪਰਾਇਆ ਭਲਾ ਨ ਸੁਖਾਈ ॥

निंदक दुसट वडिआई वेखि न सकनि ओन्हा पराइआ भला न सुखाई ॥

Ninddak dusat vadiaaee vekhi na sakani onhaa paraaiaa bhalaa na sukhaaee ||

The slanderers and evil-doers cannot see this glorious greatness; they do not appreciate the goodness of others.

ਕਿਆ ਹੋਵੈ ਕਿਸ ਹੀ ਕੀ ਝਖ ਮਾਰੀ ਜਾ ਸਚੇ ਸਿਉ ਬਣਿ ਆਈ ॥

किआ होवै किस ही की झख मारी जा सचे सिउ बणि आई ॥

Kiaa hovai kis hee kee jhakh maaree jaa sache siu ba(nn)i aaee ||

What can be achieved by anyone babbling? The Guru is in love with the True Lord.
