ਮੇਰੇ ਮਨ ਪਰਦੇਸੀ ਵੇ ਪਿਆਰੇ ਆਉ ਘਰੇ ॥

मेरे मन परदेसी वे पिआरे आउ घरे ॥

Mere man paradesee ve piaare aau ghare ||

O my dear beloved stranger mind, please come home!

ਹਰਿ ਗੁਰੂ ਮਿਲਾਵਹੁ ਮੇਰੇ ਪਿਆਰੇ ਘਰਿ ਵਸੈ ਹਰੇ ॥

हरि गुरू मिलावहु मेरे पिआरे घरि वसै हरे ॥

Hari guroo milaavahu mere piaare ghari vasai hare ||

Meet with the Lord-Guru, O my dear beloved, and He will dwell in the home of your self.

ਰੰਗਿ ਰਲੀਆ ਮਾਣਹੁ ਮੇਰੇ ਪਿਆਰੇ ਹਰਿ ਕਿਰਪਾ ਕਰੇ ॥

रंगि रलीआ माणहु मेरे पिआरे हरि किरपा करे ॥

Ranggi raleeaa maa(nn)ahu mere piaare hari kirapaa kare ||

Revel in His Love, O my dear beloved, as the Lord bestows His Mercy.

ਗੁਰੁ ਨਾਨਕੁ ਤੁਠਾ ਮੇਰੇ ਪਿਆਰੇ ਮੇਲੇ ਹਰੇ ॥੧॥

गुरु नानकु तुठा मेरे पिआरे मेले हरे ॥१॥

Guru naanaku tuthaa mere piaare mele hare ||1||

As Guru Nanak is pleased, O my dear beloved, we are united with the Lord. ||1||


ਮੈ ਪ੍ਰੇਮੁ ਨ ਚਾਖਿਆ ਮੇਰੇ ਪਿਆਰੇ ਭਾਉ ਕਰੇ ॥

मै प्रेमु न चाखिआ मेरे पिआरे भाउ करे ॥

Mai premu na chaakhiaa mere piaare bhaau kare ||

I have not tasted divine love, O my dear beloved, within my heart.

ਮਨਿ ਤ੍ਰਿਸਨਾ ਨ ਬੁਝੀ ਮੇਰੇ ਪਿਆਰੇ ਨਿਤ ਆਸ ਕਰੇ ॥

मनि त्रिसना न बुझी मेरे पिआरे नित आस करे ॥

Mani trisanaa na bujhee mere piaare nit aas kare ||

The mind's desires are not quenched, O my dear beloved, but I still hold out hope.

ਨਿਤ ਜੋਬਨੁ ਜਾਵੈ ਮੇਰੇ ਪਿਆਰੇ ਜਮੁ ਸਾਸ ਹਿਰੇ ॥

नित जोबनु जावै मेरे पिआरे जमु सास हिरे ॥

Nit jobanu jaavai mere piaare jamu saas hire ||

Youth is passing away, O my dear beloved, and death is stealing away the breath of life.

ਭਾਗ ਮਣੀ ਸੋਹਾਗਣਿ ਮੇਰੇ ਪਿਆਰੇ ਨਾਨਕ ਹਰਿ ਉਰਿ ਧਾਰੇ ॥੨॥

भाग मणी सोहागणि मेरे पिआरे नानक हरि उरि धारे ॥२॥

Bhaag ma(nn)ee sohaaga(nn)i mere piaare naanak hari uri dhaare ||2||

The virtuous bride realizes the good fortune of her destiny, O my dear beloved; O Nanak, she enshrines the Lord within her heart. ||2||


ਪਿਰ ਰਤਿਅੜੇ ਮੈਡੇ ਲੋਇਣ ਮੇਰੇ ਪਿਆਰੇ ਚਾਤ੍ਰਿਕ ਬੂੰਦ ਜਿਵੈ ॥

पिर रतिअड़े मैडे लोइण मेरे पिआरे चात्रिक बूंद जिवै ॥

Pir ratia(rr)e maide loi(nn) mere piaare chaatrik boondd jivai ||

My eyes are drenched with the Love of my Husband Lord, O my dear beloved, like the song-bird with the rain drop.

ਮਨੁ ਸੀਤਲੁ ਹੋਆ ਮੇਰੇ ਪਿਆਰੇ ਹਰਿ ਬੂੰਦ ਪੀਵੈ ॥

मनु सीतलु होआ मेरे पिआरे हरि बूंद पीवै ॥

Manu seetalu hoaa mere piaare hari boondd peevai ||

My mind is cooled and soothed, O my dear beloved, by drinking in the rain drops of the Lord.

ਤਨਿ ਬਿਰਹੁ ਜਗਾਵੈ ਮੇਰੇ ਪਿਆਰੇ ਨੀਦ ਨ ਪਵੈ ਕਿਵੈ ॥

तनि बिरहु जगावै मेरे पिआरे नीद न पवै किवै ॥

Tani birahu jagaavai mere piaare need na pavai kivai ||

Separation from my Lord keeps my body awake, O my dear beloved; I cannot sleep at all.

ਹਰਿ ਸਜਣੁ ਲਧਾ ਮੇਰੇ ਪਿਆਰੇ ਨਾਨਕ ਗੁਰੂ ਲਿਵੈ ॥੩॥

हरि सजणु लधा मेरे पिआरे नानक गुरू लिवै ॥३॥

Hari saja(nn)u ladhaa mere piaare naanak guroo livai ||3||

Nanak has found the Lord, the True Friend, O my dear beloved, by loving the Guru. ||3||


ਚੜਿ ਚੇਤੁ ਬਸੰਤੁ ਮੇਰੇ ਪਿਆਰੇ ਭਲੀਅ ਰੁਤੇ ॥

चड़ि चेतु बसंतु मेरे पिआरे भलीअ रुते ॥

Cha(rr)i chetu basanttu mere piaare bhaleea rute ||

In the month of Chayt, O my dear beloved, the pleasant season of spring begins.

ਪਿਰ ਬਾਝੜਿਅਹੁ ਮੇਰੇ ਪਿਆਰੇ ਆਂਗਣਿ ਧੂੜਿ ਲੁਤੇ ॥

पिर बाझड़िअहु मेरे पिआरे आंगणि धूड़ि लुते ॥

Pir baajha(rr)iahu mere piaare aanga(nn)i dhoo(rr)i lute ||

But without my Husband Lord, O my dear beloved, my courtyard is filled with dust.

ਮਨਿ ਆਸ ਉਡੀਣੀ ਮੇਰੇ ਪਿਆਰੇ ਦੁਇ ਨੈਨ ਜੁਤੇ ॥

मनि आस उडीणी मेरे पिआरे दुइ नैन जुते ॥

Mani aas udee(nn)ee mere piaare dui nain jute ||

But my sad mind is still hopeful, O my dear beloved; my eyes are both fixed upon Him.

ਗੁਰੁ ਨਾਨਕੁ ਦੇਖਿ ਵਿਗਸੀ ਮੇਰੇ ਪਿਆਰੇ ਜਿਉ ਮਾਤ ਸੁਤੇ ॥੪॥

गुरु नानकु देखि विगसी मेरे पिआरे जिउ मात सुते ॥४॥

Guru naanaku dekhi vigasee mere piaare jiu maat sute ||4||

Beholding the Guru, Nanak is filled with wondrous joy, like a child, gazing upon his mother. ||4||


ਹਰਿ ਕੀਆ ਕਥਾ ਕਹਾਣੀਆ ਮੇਰੇ ਪਿਆਰੇ ਸਤਿਗੁਰੂ ਸੁਣਾਈਆ ॥

हरि कीआ कथा कहाणीआ मेरे पिआरे सतिगुरू सुणाईआ ॥

Hari keeaa kathaa kahaa(nn)eeaa mere piaare satiguroo su(nn)aaeeaa ||

The True Guru has preached the sermon of the Lord, O my dear beloved.

ਗੁਰ ਵਿਟੜਿਅਹੁ ਹਉ ਘੋਲੀ ਮੇਰੇ ਪਿਆਰੇ ਜਿਨਿ ਹਰਿ ਮੇਲਾਈਆ ॥

गुर विटड़िअहु हउ घोली मेरे पिआरे जिनि हरि मेलाईआ ॥

Gur vita(rr)iahu hau gholee mere piaare jini hari melaaeeaa ||

I am a sacrifice to the Guru, O my dear beloved, who has united me with the Lord.

ਸਭਿ ਆਸਾ ਹਰਿ ਪੂਰੀਆ ਮੇਰੇ ਪਿਆਰੇ ਮਨਿ ਚਿੰਦਿਅੜਾ ਫਲੁ ਪਾਇਆ ॥

सभि आसा हरि पूरीआ मेरे पिआरे मनि चिंदिअड़ा फलु पाइआ ॥

Sabhi aasaa hari pooreeaa mere piaare mani chinddia(rr)aa phalu paaiaa ||

The Lord has fulfilled all my hopes, O my dear beloved; I have obtained the fruits of my heart's desires.

ਹਰਿ ਤੁਠੜਾ ਮੇਰੇ ਪਿਆਰੇ ਜਨੁ ਨਾਨਕੁ ਨਾਮਿ ਸਮਾਇਆ ॥੫॥

हरि तुठड़ा मेरे पिआरे जनु नानकु नामि समाइआ ॥५॥

Hari tutha(rr)aa mere piaare janu naanaku naami samaaiaa ||5||

When the Lord is pleased, O my dear beloved, servant Nanak is absorbed into the Naam. ||5||


ਪਿਆਰੇ ਹਰਿ ਬਿਨੁ ਪ੍ਰੇਮੁ ਨ ਖੇਲਸਾ ॥

पिआरे हरि बिनु प्रेमु न खेलसा ॥

Piaare hari binu premu na khelasaa ||

Without the Beloved Lord, there is no play of love.

ਕਿਉ ਪਾਈ ਗੁਰੁ ਜਿਤੁ ਲਗਿ ਪਿਆਰਾ ਦੇਖਸਾ ॥

किउ पाई गुरु जितु लगि पिआरा देखसा ॥

Kiu paaee guru jitu lagi piaaraa dekhasaa ||

How can I find the Guru? Grasping hold of Him, I behold my Beloved.

ਹਰਿ ਦਾਤੜੇ ਮੇਲਿ ਗੁਰੂ ਮੁਖਿ ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿ ਮੇਲਸਾ ॥

हरि दातड़े मेलि गुरू मुखि गुरमुखि मेलसा ॥

Hari daata(rr)e meli guroo mukhi guramukhi melasaa ||

O Lord, O Great Giver, let me meet the Guru; as Gurmukh, may I merge with You.

ਗੁਰੁ ਨਾਨਕੁ ਪਾਇਆ ਮੇਰੇ ਪਿਆਰੇ ਧੁਰਿ ਮਸਤਕਿ ਲੇਖੁ ਸਾ ॥੬॥੧੪॥੨੧॥

गुरु नानकु पाइआ मेरे पिआरे धुरि मसतकि लेखु सा ॥६॥१४॥२१॥

Guru naanaku paaiaa mere piaare dhuri masataki lekhu saa ||6||14||21||

Nanak has found the Guru, O my dear beloved; such was the destiny inscribed upon his forehead. ||6||14||21||

Raagu goojaree mahalaa 4 chaupade gharu 1 ||

Raag Goojaree, Fourth Mehl, Chau-Padas, First House:

ਹਰਿ ਕੇ ਜਨ ਸਤਿਗੁਰ ਸਤ ਪੁਰਖਾ ਹਉ ਬਿਨਉ ਕਰਉ ਗੁਰ ਪਾਸਿ ॥

हरि के जन सतिगुर सत पुरखा हउ बिनउ करउ गुर पासि ॥

Hari ke jan satigur sat purakhaa hau binau karau gur paasi ||

O Servant of the Lord, O True Guru, O True Primal Being, I offer my prayers to You, O Guru.

ਹਮ ਕੀਰੇ ਕਿਰਮ ਸਤਿਗੁਰ ਸਰਣਾਈ ਕਰਿ ਦਇਆ ਨਾਮੁ ਪਰਗਾਸਿ ॥੧॥

हम कीरे किरम सतिगुर सरणाई करि दइआ नामु परगासि ॥१॥

Ham keere kiram satigur sara(nn)aaee kari daiaa naamu paragaasi ||1||

I am an insect and a worm; O True Guru, I seek Your Sanctuary; please, be merciful and bestow upon me the Light of the Naam, the Name of the Lord. ||1||


ਮੇਰੇ ਮੀਤ ਗੁਰਦੇਵ ਮੋ ਕਉ ਰਾਮ ਨਾਮੁ ਪਰਗਾਸਿ ॥

मेरे मीत गुरदेव मो कउ राम नामु परगासि ॥

Mere meet guradev mo kau raam naamu paragaasi ||

O my Best Friend, O Divine Guru, please illuminate me with the Light of the Lord.

ਗੁਰਮਤਿ ਨਾਮੁ ਮੇਰਾ ਪ੍ਰਾਨ ਸਖਾਈ ਹਰਿ ਕੀਰਤਿ ਹਮਰੀ ਰਹਰਾਸਿ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥

गुरमति नामु मेरा प्रान सखाई हरि कीरति हमरी रहरासि ॥१॥ रहाउ ॥

Guramati naamu meraa praan sakhaaee hari keerati hamaree raharaasi ||1|| rahaau ||

By Guru's Instructions, the Naam is my breath of life, and the Praise of the Lord is my occupation. ||1|| Pause ||


ਹਰਿ ਜਨ ਕੇ ਵਡਭਾਗ ਵਡੇਰੇ ਜਿਨ ਹਰਿ ਹਰਿ ਸਰਧਾ ਹਰਿ ਪਿਆਸ ॥

हरि जन के वडभाग वडेरे जिन हरि हरि सरधा हरि पिआस ॥

Hari jan ke vadabhaag vadere jin hari hari saradhaa hari piaas ||

The Lord's servants have the greatest good fortune; they have faith in the Lord, Har, Har, and a thirst for the Lord.

ਹਰਿ ਹਰਿ ਨਾਮੁ ਮਿਲੈ ਤ੍ਰਿਪਤਾਸਹਿ ਮਿਲਿ ਸੰਗਤਿ ਗੁਣ ਪਰਗਾਸਿ ॥੨॥

हरि हरि नामु मिलै त्रिपतासहि मिलि संगति गुण परगासि ॥२॥

Hari hari naamu milai tripataasahi mili sanggati gu(nn) paragaasi ||2||

Obtaining the Name of the Lord, Har, Har, they are satisfied; joining the Company of the Holy, their virtues shine forth. ||2||


ਜਿਨੑ ਹਰਿ ਹਰਿ ਹਰਿ ਰਸੁ ਨਾਮੁ ਨ ਪਾਇਆ ਤੇ ਭਾਗਹੀਣ ਜਮ ਪਾਸਿ ॥

जिन्ह हरि हरि हरि रसु नामु न पाइआ ते भागहीण जम पासि ॥

Jinh hari hari hari rasu naamu na paaiaa te bhaagahee(nn) jam paasi ||

Those who have not obtained the essence of the Name of the Lord, Har, Har, are most unfortunate; they are taken away by the Messenger of Death.

ਜੋ ਸਤਿਗੁਰ ਸਰਣਿ ਸੰਗਤਿ ਨਹੀ ਆਏ ਧ੍ਰਿਗੁ ਜੀਵੇ ਧ੍ਰਿਗੁ ਜੀਵਾਸਿ ॥੩॥

जो सतिगुर सरणि संगति नही आए ध्रिगु जीवे ध्रिगु जीवासि ॥३॥

Jo satigur sara(nn)i sanggati nahee aae dhrigu jeeve dhrigu jeevaasi ||3||

Those who have not sought the Sanctuary of the True Guru and the Company of the Holy - cursed are their lives, and cursed are their hopes of life. ||3||


ਜਿਨ ਹਰਿ ਜਨ ਸਤਿਗੁਰ ਸੰਗਤਿ ਪਾਈ ਤਿਨ ਧੁਰਿ ਮਸਤਕਿ ਲਿਖਿਆ ਲਿਖਾਸਿ ॥

जिन हरि जन सतिगुर संगति पाई तिन धुरि मसतकि लिखिआ लिखासि ॥

Jin hari jan satigur sanggati paaee tin dhuri masataki likhiaa likhaasi ||

Those humble servants of the Lord, who have obtained the Company of the True Guru, have such pre-ordained destiny written on their foreheads.

ਧੰਨੁ ਧੰਨੁ ਸਤਸੰਗਤਿ ਜਿਤੁ ਹਰਿ ਰਸੁ ਪਾਇਆ ਮਿਲਿ ਨਾਨਕ ਨਾਮੁ ਪਰਗਾਸਿ ॥੪॥੧॥

धंनु धंनु सतसंगति जितु हरि रसु पाइआ मिलि नानक नामु परगासि ॥४॥१॥

Dhannu dhannu satasanggati jitu hari rasu paaiaa mili naanak naamu paragaasi ||4||1||

Blessed, blessed is the Sat Sangat, the True Congregation, where the sublime essence of the Lord is obtained. Meeting with His humble servant, O Nanak, the Naam shines forth. ||4||1||

ਗੋਵਿੰਦੁ ਗੋਵਿੰਦੁ ਪ੍ਰੀਤਮੁ ਮਨਿ ਪ੍ਰੀਤਮੁ ਮਿਲਿ ਸਤਸੰਗਤਿ ਸਬਦਿ ਮਨੁ ਮੋਹੈ ॥

गोविंदु गोविंदु प्रीतमु मनि प्रीतमु मिलि सतसंगति सबदि मनु मोहै ॥

Govinddu govinddu preetamu mani preetamu mili satasanggati sabadi manu mohai ||

The Lord, the Lord of the Universe is the Beloved of the minds of those who join the Sat Sangat, the True Congregation. The Shabad of His Word fascinates their minds.

ਜਪਿ ਗੋਵਿੰਦੁ ਗੋਵਿੰਦੁ ਧਿਆਈਐ ਸਭ ਕਉ ਦਾਨੁ ਦੇਇ ਪ੍ਰਭੁ ਓਹੈ ॥੧॥

जपि गोविंदु गोविंदु धिआईऐ सभ कउ दानु देइ प्रभु ओहै ॥१॥

Japi govinddu govinddu dhiaaeeai sabh kau daanu dei prbhu ohai ||1||

Chant, and meditate on the Lord, the Lord of the Universe; God is the One who gives gifts to all. ||1||


ਮੇਰੇ ਭਾਈ ਜਨਾ ਮੋ ਕਉ ਗੋਵਿੰਦੁ ਗੋਵਿੰਦੁ ਗੋਵਿੰਦੁ ਮਨੁ ਮੋਹੈ ॥

मेरे भाई जना मो कउ गोविंदु गोविंदु गोविंदु मनु मोहै ॥

Mere bhaaee janaa mo kau govinddu govinddu govinddu manu mohai ||

O my Siblings of Destiny, the Lord of the Universe, Govind, Govind, Govind, has enticed and fascinated my mind.

ਗੋਵਿੰਦ ਗੋਵਿੰਦ ਗੋਵਿੰਦ ਗੁਣ ਗਾਵਾ ਮਿਲਿ ਗੁਰ ਸਾਧਸੰਗਤਿ ਜਨੁ ਸੋਹੈ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥

गोविंद गोविंद गोविंद गुण गावा मिलि गुर साधसंगति जनु सोहै ॥१॥ रहाउ ॥

Govindd govindd govindd gu(nn) gaavaa mili gur saadhasanggati janu sohai ||1|| rahaau ||

I sing the Glorious Praises of the Lord of the Universe, Govind, Govind, Govind; joining the Holy Society of the Guru, Your humble servant is beautified. ||1|| Pause ||


ਸੁਖ ਸਾਗਰ ਹਰਿ ਭਗਤਿ ਹੈ ਗੁਰਮਤਿ ਕਉਲਾ ਰਿਧਿ ਸਿਧਿ ਲਾਗੈ ਪਗਿ ਓਹੈ ॥

सुख सागर हरि भगति है गुरमति कउला रिधि सिधि लागै पगि ओहै ॥

Sukh saagar hari bhagati hai guramati kaulaa ridhi sidhi laagai pagi ohai ||

Devotional worship to the Lord is an ocean of peace; through the Guru's Teachings, wealth, prosperity and the spiritual powers of the Siddhas fall at our feet.

ਜਨ ਕਉ ਰਾਮ ਨਾਮੁ ਆਧਾਰਾ ਹਰਿ ਨਾਮੁ ਜਪਤ ਹਰਿ ਨਾਮੇ ਸੋਹੈ ॥੨॥

जन कउ राम नामु आधारा हरि नामु जपत हरि नामे सोहै ॥२॥

Jan kau raam naamu aadhaaraa hari naamu japat hari naame sohai ||2||

The Lord's Name is the Support of His humble servant; he chants the Lord's Name, and with the Lord's Name he is adorned. ||2||


ਦੁਰਮਤਿ ਭਾਗਹੀਨ ਮਤਿ ਫੀਕੇ ਨਾਮੁ ਸੁਨਤ ਆਵੈ ਮਨਿ ਰੋਹੈ ॥

दुरमति भागहीन मति फीके नामु सुनत आवै मनि रोहै ॥

Duramati bhaagaheen mati pheeke naamu sunat aavai mani rohai ||

Evil-minded, unfortunate and shallow-minded are those who feel anger in their minds, when they hear the Naam, the Name of the Lord.

ਕਊਆ ਕਾਗ ਕਉ ਅੰਮ੍ਰਿਤ ਰਸੁ ਪਾਈਐ ਤ੍ਰਿਪਤੈ ਵਿਸਟਾ ਖਾਇ ਮੁਖਿ ਗੋਹੈ ॥੩॥

कऊआ काग कउ अम्रित रसु पाईऐ त्रिपतै विसटा खाइ मुखि गोहै ॥३॥

Kauaa kaag kau ammmrit rasu paaeeai tripatai visataa khaai mukhi gohai ||3||

You may place ambrosial nectar before crows and ravens, but they will be satisfied only by eating manure and dung with their mouths. ||3||


ਅੰਮ੍ਰਿਤ ਸਰੁ ਸਤਿਗੁਰੁ ਸਤਿਵਾਦੀ ਜਿਤੁ ਨਾਤੈ ਕਊਆ ਹੰਸੁ ਹੋਹੈ ॥

अम्रित सरु सतिगुरु सतिवादी जितु नातै कऊआ हंसु होहै ॥

Ammmrit saru satiguru sativaadee jitu naatai kauaa hanssu hohai ||

The True Guru, the Speaker of Truth, is the pool of Ambrosial Nectar; bathing within it, the crow becomes a swan.

ਨਾਨਕ ਧਨੁ ਧੰਨੁ ਵਡੇ ਵਡਭਾਗੀ ਜਿਨੑ ਗੁਰਮਤਿ ਨਾਮੁ ਰਿਦੈ ਮਲੁ ਧੋਹੈ ॥੪॥੨॥

नानक धनु धंनु वडे वडभागी जिन्ह गुरमति नामु रिदै मलु धोहै ॥४॥२॥

Naanak dhanu dhannu vade vadabhaagee jinh guramati naamu ridai malu dhohai ||4||2||

O Nanak, blessed, blessed and very fortunate are those who, through the Guru's Teachings, with the Naam, wash away the filth of their hearts. ||4||2||

Goojaree, Fourth Mehl:

ਹਰਿ ਜਨ ਊਤਮ ਊਤਮ ਬਾਣੀ ਮੁਖਿ ਬੋਲਹਿ ਪਰਉਪਕਾਰੇ ॥

हरि जन ऊतम ऊतम बाणी मुखि बोलहि परउपकारे ॥

Hari jan utam utam baa(nn)ee mukhi bolahi paraupakaare ||

The humble servants of the Lord are exalted, and exalted is their speech. With their mouths, they speak for the benefit of others.

ਜੋ ਜਨੁ ਸੁਣੈ ਸਰਧਾ ਭਗਤਿ ਸੇਤੀ ਕਰਿ ਕਿਰਪਾ ਹਰਿ ਨਿਸਤਾਰੇ ॥੧॥

जो जनु सुणै सरधा भगति सेती करि किरपा हरि निसतारे ॥१॥

Jo janu su(nn)ai saradhaa bhagati setee kari kirapaa hari nisataare ||1||

Those who listen to them with faith and devotion, are blessed by the Lord; showering His Mercy, He saves them. ||1||


ਰਾਮ ਮੋ ਕਉ ਹਰਿ ਜਨ ਮੇਲਿ ਪਿਆਰੇ ॥

राम मो कउ हरि जन मेलि पिआरे ॥

Raam mo kau hari jan meli piaare ||

Lord, please, let me meet the beloved servants of the Lord.

ਮੇਰੇ ਪ੍ਰੀਤਮ ਪ੍ਰਾਨ ਸਤਿਗੁਰੁ ਗੁਰੁ ਪੂਰਾ ਹਮ ਪਾਪੀ ਗੁਰਿ ਨਿਸਤਾਰੇ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥

मेरे प्रीतम प्रान सतिगुरु गुरु पूरा हम पापी गुरि निसतारे ॥१॥ रहाउ ॥

Mere preetam praan satiguru guru pooraa ham paapee guri nisataare ||1|| rahaau ||

The True Guru, the Perfect Guru, is my Beloved, my very breath of life; the Guru has saved me, the sinner. ||1|| Pause ||


ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿ ਵਡਭਾਗੀ ਵਡਭਾਗੇ ਜਿਨ ਹਰਿ ਹਰਿ ਨਾਮੁ ਅਧਾਰੇ ॥

गुरमुखि वडभागी वडभागे जिन हरि हरि नामु अधारे ॥

Guramukhi vadabhaagee vadabhaage jin hari hari naamu adhaare ||

The Gurmukhs are fortunate, so very fortunate; their Support is the Name of the Lord, Har, Har.

ਹਰਿ ਹਰਿ ਅੰਮ੍ਰਿਤੁ ਹਰਿ ਰਸੁ ਪਾਵਹਿ ਗੁਰਮਤਿ ਭਗਤਿ ਭੰਡਾਰੇ ॥੨॥

हरि हरि अम्रितु हरि रसु पावहि गुरमति भगति भंडारे ॥२॥

Hari hari ammmritu hari rasu paavahi guramati bhagati bhanddaare ||2||

They obtain the Ambrosial Nectar of the Name of the Lord, Har, Har; through the Guru's Teachings, they obtain this treasure-house of devotional worship. ||2||


ਜਿਨ ਦਰਸਨੁ ਸਤਿਗੁਰ ਸਤ ਪੁਰਖ ਨ ਪਾਇਆ ਤੇ ਭਾਗਹੀਣ ਜਮਿ ਮਾਰੇ ॥

जिन दरसनु सतिगुर सत पुरख न पाइआ ते भागहीण जमि मारे ॥

Jin darasanu satigur sat purakh na paaiaa te bhaagahee(nn) jami maare ||

Those who do not obtain the Blessed Vision of the Darshan of the True Guru, the True Primal Being, are most unfortunate; they are destroyed by the Messenger of Death.

ਸੇ ਕੂਕਰ ਸੂਕਰ ਗਰਧਭ ਪਵਹਿ ਗਰਭ ਜੋਨੀ ਦਯਿ ਮਾਰੇ ਮਹਾ ਹਤਿਆਰੇ ॥੩॥

से कूकर सूकर गरधभ पवहि गरभ जोनी दयि मारे महा हतिआरे ॥३॥

Se kookar sookar garadhabh pavahi garabh jonee dayi maare mahaa hatiaare ||3||

They are like dogs, pigs and jackasses; they are cast into the womb of reincarnation, and the Lord strikes them down as the worst of murderers. ||3||


ਦੀਨ ਦਇਆਲ ਹੋਹੁ ਜਨ ਊਪਰਿ ਕਰਿ ਕਿਰਪਾ ਲੇਹੁ ਉਬਾਰੇ ॥

दीन दइआल होहु जन ऊपरि करि किरपा लेहु उबारे ॥

Deen daiaal hohu jan upari kari kirapaa lehu ubaare ||

O Lord, Kind to the poor, please shower Your mercy upon Your humble servant, and save him.

ਨਾਨਕ ਜਨ ਹਰਿ ਕੀ ਸਰਣਾਈ ਹਰਿ ਭਾਵੈ ਹਰਿ ਨਿਸਤਾਰੇ ॥੪॥੩॥

नानक जन हरि की सरणाई हरि भावै हरि निसतारे ॥४॥३॥

Naanak jan hari kee sara(nn)aaee hari bhaavai hari nisataare ||4||3||

Servant Nanak has entered the Lord's Sanctuary; if it pleases You, Lord, please save him. ||4||3||

ਹੋਹੁ ਦਇਆਲ ਮੇਰਾ ਮਨੁ ਲਾਵਹੁ ਹਉ ਅਨਦਿਨੁ ਰਾਮ ਨਾਮੁ ਨਿਤ ਧਿਆਈ ॥

होहु दइआल मेरा मनु लावहु हउ अनदिनु राम नामु नित धिआई ॥

Hohu daiaal meraa manu laavahu hau anadinu raam naamu nit dhiaaee ||

Be Merciful and attune my mind, so that I might meditate continually on the Lord's Name, night and day.

ਸਭਿ ਸੁਖ ਸਭਿ ਗੁਣ ਸਭਿ ਨਿਧਾਨ ਹਰਿ ਜਿਤੁ ਜਪਿਐ ਦੁਖ ਭੁਖ ਸਭ ਲਹਿ ਜਾਈ ॥੧॥

सभि सुख सभि गुण सभि निधान हरि जितु जपिऐ दुख भुख सभ लहि जाई ॥१॥

Sabhi sukh sabhi gu(nn) sabhi nidhaan hari jitu japiai dukh bhukh sabh lahi jaaee ||1||

The Lord is all peace, all virtue and all wealth; remembering Him, all misery and hunger depart. ||1||


ਮਨ ਮੇਰੇ ਮੇਰਾ ਰਾਮ ਨਾਮੁ ਸਖਾ ਹਰਿ ਭਾਈ ॥

मन मेरे मेरा राम नामु सखा हरि भाई ॥

Man mere meraa raam naamu sakhaa hari bhaaee ||

O my mind, the Lord's Name is my companion and brother.

ਗੁਰਮਤਿ ਰਾਮ ਨਾਮੁ ਜਸੁ ਗਾਵਾ ਅੰਤਿ ਬੇਲੀ ਦਰਗਹ ਲਏ ਛਡਾਈ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥

गुरमति राम नामु जसु गावा अंति बेली दरगह लए छडाई ॥१॥ रहाउ ॥

Guramati raam naamu jasu gaavaa antti belee daragah lae chhadaaee ||1|| rahaau ||

Under Guru's Instruction, I sing the Praises of the Lord's Name; it shall be my help and support in the end, and it shall deliver me in the Court of the Lord. ||1|| Pause ||


ਤੂੰ ਆਪੇ ਦਾਤਾ ਪ੍ਰਭੁ ਅੰਤਰਜਾਮੀ ਕਰਿ ਕਿਰਪਾ ਲੋਚ ਮੇਰੈ ਮਨਿ ਲਾਈ ॥

तूं आपे दाता प्रभु अंतरजामी करि किरपा लोच मेरै मनि लाई ॥

Toonn aape daataa prbhu anttarajaamee kari kirapaa loch merai mani laaee ||

You Yourself are the Giver, O God, Inner-knower, Searcher of hearts; by Your Grace, You have infused longing for You in my mind.

ਮੈ ਮਨਿ ਤਨਿ ਲੋਚ ਲਗੀ ਹਰਿ ਸੇਤੀ ਪ੍ਰਭਿ ਲੋਚ ਪੂਰੀ ਸਤਿਗੁਰ ਸਰਣਾਈ ॥੨॥

मै मनि तनि लोच लगी हरि सेती प्रभि लोच पूरी सतिगुर सरणाई ॥२॥

Mai mani tani loch lagee hari setee prbhi loch pooree satigur sara(nn)aaee ||2||

My mind and body long for the Lord; God has fulfilled my longing. I have entered the Sanctuary of the True Guru. ||2||


ਮਾਣਸ ਜਨਮੁ ਪੁੰਨਿ ਕਰਿ ਪਾਇਆ ਬਿਨੁ ਨਾਵੈ ਧ੍ਰਿਗੁ ਧ੍ਰਿਗੁ ਬਿਰਥਾ ਜਾਈ ॥

माणस जनमु पुंनि करि पाइआ बिनु नावै ध्रिगु ध्रिगु बिरथा जाई ॥

Maa(nn)as janamu punni kari paaiaa binu naavai dhrigu dhrigu birathaa jaaee ||

Human birth is obtained through good actions; without the Name, it is cursed, totally cursed, and it passes away in vain.

ਨਾਮ ਬਿਨਾ ਰਸ ਕਸ ਦੁਖੁ ਖਾਵੈ ਮੁਖੁ ਫੀਕਾ ਥੁਕ ਥੂਕ ਮੁਖਿ ਪਾਈ ॥੩॥

नाम बिना रस कस दुखु खावै मुखु फीका थुक थूक मुखि पाई ॥३॥

Naam binaa ras kas dukhu khaavai mukhu pheekaa thuk thook mukhi paaee ||3||

Without the Naam, the Name of the Lord, one obtains only suffering for his delicacies to eat. His mouth is insipid, and his face is spat upon, again and again. ||3||


ਜੋ ਜਨ ਹਰਿ ਪ੍ਰਭ ਹਰਿ ਹਰਿ ਸਰਣਾ ਤਿਨ ਦਰਗਹ ਹਰਿ ਹਰਿ ਦੇ ਵਡਿਆਈ ॥

जो जन हरि प्रभ हरि हरि सरणा तिन दरगह हरि हरि दे वडिआई ॥

Jo jan hari prbh hari hari sara(nn)aa tin daragah hari hari de vadiaaee ||

Those humble beings, who have entered the Sanctuary of the Lord God, Har, Har, are blessed with glory in the Court of the Lord, Har, Har.

ਧੰਨੁ ਧੰਨੁ ਸਾਬਾਸਿ ਕਹੈ ਪ੍ਰਭੁ ਜਨ ਕਉ ਜਨ ਨਾਨਕ ਮੇਲਿ ਲਏ ਗਲਿ ਲਾਈ ॥੪॥੪॥

धंनु धंनु साबासि कहै प्रभु जन कउ जन नानक मेलि लए गलि लाई ॥४॥४॥

Dhannu dhannu saabaasi kahai prbhu jan kau jan naanak meli lae gali laaee ||4||4||

Blessed, blessed and congratulations, says God to His humble servant. O servant Nanak, He embraces him, and blends him with Himself. ||4||4||

ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿ ਸਖੀ ਸਹੇਲੀ ਮੇਰੀ ਮੋ ਕਉ ਦੇਵਹੁ ਦਾਨੁ ਹਰਿ ਪ੍ਰਾਨ ਜੀਵਾਇਆ ॥

गुरमुखि सखी सहेली मेरी मो कउ देवहु दानु हरि प्रान जीवाइआ ॥

Guramukhi sakhee sahelee meree mo kau devahu daanu hari praan jeevaaiaa ||

O Gurmukhs O my friends and companions give me the gift of the Lord's Name, the life of my very life.

ਹਮ ਹੋਵਹ ਲਾਲੇ ਗੋਲੇ ਗੁਰਸਿਖਾ ਕੇ ਜਿਨੑਾ ਅਨਦਿਨੁ ਹਰਿ ਪ੍ਰਭੁ ਪੁਰਖੁ ਧਿਆਇਆ ॥੧॥

हम होवह लाले गोले गुरसिखा के जिन्हा अनदिनु हरि प्रभु पुरखु धिआइआ ॥१॥

Ham hovah laale gole gurasikhaa ke jinhaa anadinu hari prbhu purakhu dhiaaiaa ||1||

I am the slave, the servant of the Guru's Sikhs, who meditate on the Lord God, the Primal Being, night and day. ||1||


ਮੇਰੈ ਮਨਿ ਤਨਿ ਬਿਰਹੁ ਗੁਰਸਿਖ ਪਗ ਲਾਇਆ ॥

मेरै मनि तनि बिरहु गुरसिख पग लाइआ ॥

Merai mani tani birahu gurasikh pag laaiaa ||

Within my mind and body, I have enshrined love for the feet of the Guru's Sikhs.

ਮੇਰੇ ਪ੍ਰਾਨ ਸਖਾ ਗੁਰ ਕੇ ਸਿਖ ਭਾਈ ਮੋ ਕਉ ਕਰਹੁ ਉਪਦੇਸੁ ਹਰਿ ਮਿਲੈ ਮਿਲਾਇਆ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥

मेरे प्रान सखा गुर के सिख भाई मो कउ करहु उपदेसु हरि मिलै मिलाइआ ॥१॥ रहाउ ॥

Mere praan sakhaa gur ke sikh bhaaee mo kau karahu upadesu hari milai milaaiaa ||1|| rahaau ||

O my life-mates, O Sikhs of the Guru, O Siblings of Destiny, instruct me in the Teachings, that I might merge in the Lord's Merger. ||1|| Pause ||


ਜਾ ਹਰਿ ਪ੍ਰਭ ਭਾਵੈ ਤਾ ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿ ਮੇਲੇ ਜਿਨੑ ਵਚਨ ਗੁਰੂ ਸਤਿਗੁਰ ਮਨਿ ਭਾਇਆ ॥

जा हरि प्रभ भावै ता गुरमुखि मेले जिन्ह वचन गुरू सतिगुर मनि भाइआ ॥

Jaa hari prbh bhaavai taa guramukhi mele jinh vachan guroo satigur mani bhaaiaa ||

When it pleases the Lord God, he causes us to meet the Gurmukhs; the Hymns of the Guru, the True Guru, are very sweet to their minds.

ਵਡਭਾਗੀ ਗੁਰ ਕੇ ਸਿਖ ਪਿਆਰੇ ਹਰਿ ਨਿਰਬਾਣੀ ਨਿਰਬਾਣ ਪਦੁ ਪਾਇਆ ॥੨॥

वडभागी गुर के सिख पिआरे हरि निरबाणी निरबाण पदु पाइआ ॥२॥

Vadabhaagee gur ke sikh piaare hari nirabaa(nn)ee nirabaa(nn) padu paaiaa ||2||

Very fortunate are the beloved Sikhs of the Guru; through the Lord, they attain the supreme state of Nirvaanaa. ||2||


ਸਤਸੰਗਤਿ ਗੁਰ ਕੀ ਹਰਿ ਪਿਆਰੀ ਜਿਨ ਹਰਿ ਹਰਿ ਨਾਮੁ ਮੀਠਾ ਮਨਿ ਭਾਇਆ ॥

सतसंगति गुर की हरि पिआरी जिन हरि हरि नामु मीठा मनि भाइआ ॥

Satasanggati gur kee hari piaaree jin hari hari naamu meethaa mani bhaaiaa ||

The Sat Sangat, the True Congregation of the Guru, is loved by the Lord. The Naam, the Name of the Lord, Har, Har, is sweet and pleasing to their minds.

ਜਿਨ ਸਤਿਗੁਰ ਸੰਗਤਿ ਸੰਗੁ ਨ ਪਾਇਆ ਸੇ ਭਾਗਹੀਣ ਪਾਪੀ ਜਮਿ ਖਾਇਆ ॥੩॥

जिन सतिगुर संगति संगु न पाइआ से भागहीण पापी जमि खाइआ ॥३॥

Jin satigur sanggati sanggu na paaiaa se bhaagahee(nn) paapee jami khaaiaa ||3||

One who does not obtain the Association of the True Guru, is a most unfortunate sinner; he is consumed by the Messenger of Death. ||3||


ਆਪਿ ਕ੍ਰਿਪਾਲੁ ਕ੍ਰਿਪਾ ਪ੍ਰਭੁ ਧਾਰੇ ਹਰਿ ਆਪੇ ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿ ਮਿਲੈ ਮਿਲਾਇਆ ॥

आपि क्रिपालु क्रिपा प्रभु धारे हरि आपे गुरमुखि मिलै मिलाइआ ॥

Aapi kripaalu kripaa prbhu dhaare hari aape guramukhi milai milaaiaa ||

If God, the Kind Master, Himself shows His kindness, then the Lord causes the Gurmukh to merge into Himself.

ਜਨੁ ਨਾਨਕੁ ਬੋਲੇ ਗੁਣ ਬਾਣੀ ਗੁਰਬਾਣੀ ਹਰਿ ਨਾਮਿ ਸਮਾਇਆ ॥੪॥੫॥

जनु नानकु बोले गुण बाणी गुरबाणी हरि नामि समाइआ ॥४॥५॥

Janu naanaku bole gu(nn) baa(nn)ee gurabaa(nn)ee hari naami samaaiaa ||4||5||

Servant Nanak chants the Glorious Words of the Guru's Bani; through them, one is absorbed into the Naam, the Name of the Lord. ||4||5||

ਜਿਨ ਸਤਿਗੁਰੁ ਪੁਰਖੁ ਜਿਨਿ ਹਰਿ ਪ੍ਰਭੁ ਪਾਇਆ ਮੋ ਕਉ ਕਰਿ ਉਪਦੇਸੁ ਹਰਿ ਮੀਠ ਲਗਾਵੈ ॥

जिन सतिगुरु पुरखु जिनि हरि प्रभु पाइआ मो कउ करि उपदेसु हरि मीठ लगावै ॥

Jin satiguru purakhu jini hari prbhu paaiaa mo kau kari upadesu hari meeth lagaavai ||

One who has found the Lord God through the True Guru, has made the Lord seem so sweet to me, through the His Teachings.

ਮਨੁ ਤਨੁ ਸੀਤਲੁ ਸਭ ਹਰਿਆ ਹੋਆ ਵਡਭਾਗੀ ਹਰਿ ਨਾਮੁ ਧਿਆਵੈ ॥੧॥

मनु तनु सीतलु सभ हरिआ होआ वडभागी हरि नामु धिआवै ॥१॥

Manu tanu seetalu sabh hariaa hoaa vadabhaagee hari naamu dhiaavai ||1||

My mind and body have been cooled and soothed, and totally rejuvenated; by great good fortune, I meditate on the Name of the Lord. ||1||


ਭਾਈ ਰੇ ਮੋ ਕਉ ਕੋਈ ਆਇ ਮਿਲੈ ਹਰਿ ਨਾਮੁ ਦ੍ਰਿੜਾਵੈ ॥

भाई रे मो कउ कोई आइ मिलै हरि नामु द्रिड़ावै ॥

Bhaaee re mo kau koee aai milai hari naamu dri(rr)aavai ||

O Siblings of Destiny, let anyone who can implant the Lord's Name within me, come and meet with me.

ਮੇਰੇ ਪ੍ਰੀਤਮ ਪ੍ਰਾਨ ਮਨੁ ਤਨੁ ਸਭੁ ਦੇਵਾ ਮੇਰੇ ਹਰਿ ਪ੍ਰਭ ਕੀ ਹਰਿ ਕਥਾ ਸੁਨਾਵੈ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥

मेरे प्रीतम प्रान मनु तनु सभु देवा मेरे हरि प्रभ की हरि कथा सुनावै ॥१॥ रहाउ ॥

Mere preetam praan manu tanu sabhu devaa mere hari prbh kee hari kathaa sunaavai ||1|| rahaau ||

Unto my Beloved, I give my mind and body, and my very breath of life. He speaks to me of the sermon of my Lord God. ||1|| Pause ||


ਧੀਰਜੁ ਧਰਮੁ ਗੁਰਮਤਿ ਹਰਿ ਪਾਇਆ ਨਿਤ ਹਰਿ ਨਾਮੈ ਹਰਿ ਸਿਉ ਚਿਤੁ ਲਾਵੈ ॥

धीरजु धरमु गुरमति हरि पाइआ नित हरि नामै हरि सिउ चितु लावै ॥

Dheeraju dharamu guramati hari paaiaa nit hari naamai hari siu chitu laavai ||

Through the Guru's Teachings, I have obtained courage, faith and the Lord. He keeps my mind focused continually on the Lord, and the Name of the Lord.

ਅੰਮ੍ਰਿਤ ਬਚਨ ਸਤਿਗੁਰ ਕੀ ਬਾਣੀ ਜੋ ਬੋਲੈ ਸੋ ਮੁਖਿ ਅੰਮ੍ਰਿਤੁ ਪਾਵੈ ॥੨॥

अम्रित बचन सतिगुर की बाणी जो बोलै सो मुखि अम्रितु पावै ॥२॥

Ammmrit bachan satigur kee baa(nn)ee jo bolai so mukhi ammmritu paavai ||2||

The Words of the True Guru's Teachings are Ambrosial Nectar; this Amrit trickles into the mouth of the one who chants them. ||2||


ਨਿਰਮਲੁ ਨਾਮੁ ਜਿਤੁ ਮੈਲੁ ਨ ਲਾਗੈ ਗੁਰਮਤਿ ਨਾਮੁ ਜਪੈ ਲਿਵ ਲਾਵੈ ॥

निरमलु नामु जितु मैलु न लागै गुरमति नामु जपै लिव लावै ॥

Niramalu naamu jitu mailu na laagai guramati naamu japai liv laavai ||

Immaculate is the Naam, which cannot be stained by filth. Through the Guru's Teachings, chant the Naam with love.

ਨਾਮੁ ਪਦਾਰਥੁ ਜਿਨ ਨਰ ਨਹੀ ਪਾਇਆ ਸੇ ਭਾਗਹੀਣ ਮੁਏ ਮਰਿ ਜਾਵੈ ॥੩॥

नामु पदारथु जिन नर नही पाइआ से भागहीण मुए मरि जावै ॥३॥

Naamu padaarathu jin nar nahee paaiaa se bhaagahee(nn) mue mari jaavai ||3||

That man who has not found the wealth of the Naam is most unfortunate; he dies over and over again. ||3||


ਆਨਦ ਮੂਲੁ ਜਗਜੀਵਨ ਦਾਤਾ ਸਭ ਜਨ ਕਉ ਅਨਦੁ ਕਰਹੁ ਹਰਿ ਧਿਆਵੈ ॥

आनद मूलु जगजीवन दाता सभ जन कउ अनदु करहु हरि धिआवै ॥

Aanad moolu jagajeevan daataa sabh jan kau anadu karahu hari dhiaavai ||

The source of bliss, the Life of the world, the Great Giver brings bliss to all who meditate on the Lord.

ਤੂੰ ਦਾਤਾ ਜੀਅ ਸਭਿ ਤੇਰੇ ਜਨ ਨਾਨਕ ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿ ਬਖਸਿ ਮਿਲਾਵੈ ॥੪॥੬॥

तूं दाता जीअ सभि तेरे जन नानक गुरमुखि बखसि मिलावै ॥४॥६॥

Toonn daataa jeea sabhi tere jan naanak guramukhi bakhasi milaavai ||4||6||

ਮਾਈ ਬਾਪ ਪੁਤ੍ਰ ਸਭਿ ਹਰਿ ਕੇ ਕੀਏ ॥

माई बाप पुत्र सभि हरि के कीए ॥

Maaee baap putr sabhi hari ke keee ||

Mother, father and sons are all made by the Lord;

ਸਭਨਾ ਕਉ ਸਨਬੰਧੁ ਹਰਿ ਕਰਿ ਦੀਏ ॥੧॥

सभना कउ सनबंधु हरि करि दीए ॥१॥

Sabhanaa kau sanabanddhu hari kari deee ||1||

The relationships of all are established by the Lord. ||1||


ਹਮਰਾ ਜੋਰੁ ਸਭੁ ਰਹਿਓ ਮੇਰੇ ਬੀਰ ॥

हमरा जोरु सभु रहिओ मेरे बीर ॥

Hamaraa joru sabhu rahio mere beer ||

I have given up all my strength, O my brother.

ਹਰਿ ਕਾ ਤਨੁ ਮਨੁ ਸਭੁ ਹਰਿ ਕੈ ਵਸਿ ਹੈ ਸਰੀਰ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥

हरि का तनु मनु सभु हरि कै वसि है सरीर ॥१॥ रहाउ ॥

Hari kaa tanu manu sabhu hari kai vasi hai sareer ||1|| rahaau ||

The mind and body belong to the Lord, and the human body is entirely under His control. ||1|| Pause ||


ਭਗਤ ਜਨਾ ਕਉ ਸਰਧਾ ਆਪਿ ਹਰਿ ਲਾਈ ॥

भगत जना कउ सरधा आपि हरि लाई ॥

Bhagat janaa kau saradhaa aapi hari laaee ||

The Lord Himself infuses devotion into His humble devotees.

ਵਿਚੇ ਗ੍ਰਿਸਤ ਉਦਾਸ ਰਹਾਈ ॥੨॥

विचे ग्रिसत उदास रहाई ॥२॥

Viche grisat udaas rahaaee ||2||

In the midst of family life, they remain unattached. ||2||


ਜਬ ਅੰਤਰਿ ਪ੍ਰੀਤਿ ਹਰਿ ਸਿਉ ਬਨਿ ਆਈ ॥

जब अंतरि प्रीति हरि सिउ बनि आई ॥

Jab anttari preeti hari siu bani aaee ||

When inner love is established with the Lord,

ਤਬ ਜੋ ਕਿਛੁ ਕਰੇ ਸੁ ਮੇਰੇ ਹਰਿ ਪ੍ਰਭ ਭਾਈ ॥੩॥

तब जो किछु करे सु मेरे हरि प्रभ भाई ॥३॥

Tab jo kichhu kare su mere hari prbh bhaaee ||3||

Then whatever one does, is pleasing to my Lord God. ||3||


ਜਿਤੁ ਕਾਰੈ ਕੰਮਿ ਹਮ ਹਰਿ ਲਾਏ ॥

जितु कारै कमि हम हरि लाए ॥

Jitu kaarai kammi ham hari laae ||

I do those deeds and tasks which the Lord has set me to;

ਸੋ ਹਮ ਕਰਹ ਜੁ ਆਪਿ ਕਰਾਏ ॥੪॥

सो हम करह जु आपि कराए ॥४॥

So ham karah ju aapi karaae ||4||

I do that which He makes me to do. ||4||


ਜਿਨ ਕੀ ਭਗਤਿ ਮੇਰੇ ਪ੍ਰਭ ਭਾਈ ॥

जिन की भगति मेरे प्रभ भाई ॥

Jin kee bhagati mere prbh bhaaee ||

Those whose devotional worship is pleasing to my God

ਤੇ ਜਨ ਨਾਨਕ ਰਾਮ ਨਾਮ ਲਿਵ ਲਾਈ ॥੫॥੧॥੭॥੧੬॥

ते जन नानक राम नाम लिव लाई ॥५॥१॥७॥१६॥

Te jan naanak raam naam liv laaee ||5||1||7||16||

- O Nanak, those humble beings center their minds lovingly on the Lord's Name. ||5||1||7||16||

हरि बिनु जीअरा रहि न सकै जिउ बालकु खीर अधारी ॥

Hari binu jeearaa rahi na sakai jiu baalaku kheer adhaaree ||

Without the Lord, my soul cannot survive, like an infant without milk.

ਅਗਮ ਅਗੋਚਰ ਪ੍ਰਭੁ ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿ ਪਾਈਐ ਅਪੁਨੇ ਸਤਿਗੁਰ ਕੈ ਬਲਿਹਾਰੀ ॥੧॥

अगम अगोचर प्रभु गुरमुखि पाईऐ अपुने सतिगुर कै बलिहारी ॥१॥

Agam agochar prbhu guramukhi paaeeai apune satigur kai balihaaree ||1||

The inaccessible and incomprehensible Lord God is obtained by the Gurmukh; I am a sacrifice to my True Guru. ||1||


ਮਨ ਰੇ ਹਰਿ ਕੀਰਤਿ ਤਰੁ ਤਾਰੀ ॥

मन रे हरि कीरति तरु तारी ॥

Man re hari keerati taru taaree ||

O my mind, the Kirtan of the Lord's Praise is a boat to carry you across.

ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿ ਨਾਮੁ ਅੰਮ੍ਰਿਤ ਜਲੁ ਪਾਈਐ ਜਿਨ ਕਉ ਕ੍ਰਿਪਾ ਤੁਮਾਰੀ ॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥

गुरमुखि नामु अम्रित जलु पाईऐ जिन कउ क्रिपा तुमारी ॥ रहाउ ॥

Guramukhi naamu ammmrit jalu paaeeai jin kau kripaa tumaaree || rahaau ||

The Gurmukhs obtain the Ambrosial Water of the Naam, the Name of the Lord. You bless them with Your Grace. || Pause ||


ਸਨਕ ਸਨੰਦਨ ਨਾਰਦ ਮੁਨਿ ਸੇਵਹਿ ਅਨਦਿਨੁ ਜਪਤ ਰਹਹਿ ਬਨਵਾਰੀ ॥

सनक सनंदन नारद मुनि सेवहि अनदिनु जपत रहहि बनवारी ॥

Sanak sananddan naarad muni sevahi anadinu japat rahahi banavaaree ||

Sanak, Sanandan and Naarad the sage serve You; night and day, they continue to chant Your Name, O Lord of the jungle.

ਸਰਣਾਗਤਿ ਪ੍ਰਹਲਾਦ ਜਨ ਆਏ ਤਿਨ ਕੀ ਪੈਜ ਸਵਾਰੀ ॥੨॥

सरणागति प्रहलाद जन आए तिन की पैज सवारी ॥२॥

Sara(nn)aagati prhalaad jan aae tin kee paij savaaree ||2||

Slave Prahlaad sought Your Sanctuary, and You saved his honor. ||2||


ਅਲਖ ਨਿਰੰਜਨੁ ਏਕੋ ਵਰਤੈ ਏਕਾ ਜੋਤਿ ਮੁਰਾਰੀ ॥

अलख निरंजनु एको वरतै एका जोति मुरारी ॥

Alakh niranjjanu eko varatai ekaa joti muraaree ||

The One unseen immaculate Lord is pervading everywhere, as is the Light of the Lord.

ਸਭਿ ਜਾਚਿਕ ਤੂ ਏਕੋ ਦਾਤਾ ਮਾਗਹਿ ਹਾਥ ਪਸਾਰੀ ॥੩॥

सभि जाचिक तू एको दाता मागहि हाथ पसारी ॥३॥

Sabhi jaachik too eko daataa maagahi haath pasaaree ||3||

All are beggars, You alone are the Great Giver. Reaching out our hands, we beg from You. ||3||


ਭਗਤ ਜਨਾ ਕੀ ਊਤਮ ਬਾਣੀ ਗਾਵਹਿ ਅਕਥ ਕਥਾ ਨਿਤ ਨਿਆਰੀ ॥

भगत जना की ऊतम बाणी गावहि अकथ कथा नित निआरी ॥

Bhagat janaa kee utam baa(nn)ee gaavahi akath kathaa nit niaaree ||

The speech of the humble devotees is sublime; they sing continually the wondrous, Unspoken Speech of the Lord.

ਸਫਲ ਜਨਮੁ ਭਇਆ ਤਿਨ ਕੇਰਾ ਆਪਿ ਤਰੇ ਕੁਲ ਤਾਰੀ ॥੪॥

सफल जनमु भइआ तिन केरा आपि तरे कुल तारी ॥४॥

Saphal janamu bhaiaa tin keraa aapi tare kul taaree ||4||

Their lives become fruitful; they save themselves, and all their generations. ||4||


ਮਨਮੁਖ ਦੁਬਿਧਾ ਦੁਰਮਤਿ ਬਿਆਪੇ ਜਿਨ ਅੰਤਰਿ ਮੋਹ ਗੁਬਾਰੀ ॥

मनमुख दुबिधा दुरमति बिआपे जिन अंतरि मोह गुबारी ॥

Manamukh dubidhaa duramati biaape jin anttari moh gubaaree ||

The self-willed manmukhs are engrossed in duality and evil-mindedness; within them is the darkness of attachment.

ਸੰਤ ਜਨਾ ਕੀ ਕਥਾ ਨ ਭਾਵੈ ਓਇ ਡੂਬੇ ਸਣੁ ਪਰਵਾਰੀ ॥੫॥

संत जना की कथा न भावै ओइ डूबे सणु परवारी ॥५॥

Santt janaa kee kathaa na bhaavai oi doobe sa(nn)u paravaaree ||5||

They do not love the sermon of the humble Saints, and they are drowned along with their families. ||5||


ਨਿੰਦਕੁ ਨਿੰਦਾ ਕਰਿ ਮਲੁ ਧੋਵੈ ਓਹੁ ਮਲਭਖੁ ਮਾਇਆਧਾਰੀ ॥

निंदकु निंदा करि मलु धोवै ओहु मलभखु माइआधारी ॥

Ninddaku ninddaa kari malu dhovai ohu malabhakhu maaiaadhaaree ||

By slandering, the slanderer washes the filth off others; he is an eater of filth, and a worshipper of Maya.

ਸੰਤ ਜਨਾ ਕੀ ਨਿੰਦਾ ਵਿਆਪੇ ਨਾ ਉਰਵਾਰਿ ਨ ਪਾਰੀ ॥੬॥

संत जना की निंदा विआपे ना उरवारि न पारी ॥६॥

Santt janaa kee ninddaa viaape naa uravaari na paaree ||6||

He indulges in the slander of the humble Saints; he is neither on this shore, nor the shore beyond. ||6||


ਏਹੁ ਪਰਪੰਚੁ ਖੇਲੁ ਕੀਆ ਸਭੁ ਕਰਤੈ ਹਰਿ ਕਰਤੈ ਸਭ ਕਲ ਧਾਰੀ ॥

एहु परपंचु खेलु कीआ सभु करतै हरि करतै सभ कल धारी ॥

Ehu parapancchu khelu keeaa sabhu karatai hari karatai sabh kal dhaaree ||

All this worldly drama is set in motion by the Creator Lord; He has infused His almighty strength into all.

ਹਰਿ ਏਕੋ ਸੂਤੁ ਵਰਤੈ ਜੁਗ ਅੰਤਰਿ ਸੂਤੁ ਖਿੰਚੈ ਏਕੰਕਾਰੀ ॥੭॥

हरि एको सूतु वरतै जुग अंतरि सूतु खिंचै एकंकारी ॥७॥

Hari eko sootu varatai jug anttari sootu khincchai ekankkaaree ||7||

The thread of the One Lord runs through the world; when He pulls out this thread, the One Creator alone remains. ||7||


ਰਸਨਿ ਰਸਨਿ ਰਸਿ ਗਾਵਹਿ ਹਰਿ ਗੁਣ ਰਸਨਾ ਹਰਿ ਰਸੁ ਧਾਰੀ ॥

रसनि रसनि रसि गावहि हरि गुण रसना हरि रसु धारी ॥

Rasani rasani rasi gaavahi hari gu(nn) rasanaa hari rasu dhaaree ||

With their tongues, they sing the Glorious Praises of the Lord, and savor Them. They place the sublime essence of the Lord upon their tongues, and savor it.

ਨਾਨਕ ਹਰਿ ਬਿਨੁ ਅਵਰੁ ਨ ਮਾਗਉ ਹਰਿ ਰਸ ਪ੍ਰੀਤਿ ਪਿਆਰੀ ॥੮॥੧॥੭॥

नानक हरि बिनु अवरु न मागउ हरि रस प्रीति पिआरी ॥८॥१॥७॥

Naanak hari binu avaru na maagau hari ras preeti piaaree ||8||1||7||

O Nanak, other than the Lord, I ask for nothing else; I am in love with the Love of the Lord's sublime essence. ||8||1||7||


ੴ ਸਤਿ ਨਾਮੁ ਕਰਤਾ ਪੁਰਖੁ ਨਿਰਭਉ ਨਿਰਵੈਰੁ ਅਕਾਲ ਮੂਰਤਿ ਅਜੂਨੀ ਸੈਭੰ ਗੁਰਪ੍ਰਸਾਦਿ ॥

ੴ सति नामु करता पुरखु निरभउ निरवैरु अकाल मूरति अजूनी सैभं गुरप्रसादि ॥

Ik-oamkkaari sati naamu karataa purakhu nirabhau niravairu akaal moorati ajoonee saibhann guraprsaadi ||

ਸੇਵਕ ਜਨ ਬਨੇ ਠਾਕੁਰ ਲਿਵ ਲਾਗੇ ॥

सेवक जन बने ठाकुर लिव लागे ॥

Sevak jan bane thaakur liv laage ||

Those who become the humble servants of the Lord and Master, lovingly focus their minds on Him.

ਜੋ ਤੁਮਰਾ ਜਸੁ ਕਹਤੇ ਗੁਰਮਤਿ ਤਿਨ ਮੁਖ ਭਾਗ ਸਭਾਗੇ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥

जो तुमरा जसु कहते गुरमति तिन मुख भाग सभागे ॥१॥ रहाउ ॥

Jo tumaraa jasu kahate guramati tin mukh bhaag sabhaage ||1|| rahaau ||

Those who chant Your Praises, through the Guru's Teachings, have great good fortune recorded upon their foreheads. ||1|| Pause ||


ਟੂਟੇ ਮਾਇਆ ਕੇ ਬੰਧਨ ਫਾਹੇ ਹਰਿ ਰਾਮ ਨਾਮ ਲਿਵ ਲਾਗੇ ॥

टूटे माइआ के बंधन फाहे हरि राम नाम लिव लागे ॥

Toote maaiaa ke banddhan phaahe hari raam naam liv laage ||

The bonds and shackles of Maya are shattered, by lovingly focusing their minds on the Name of the Lord.

ਹਮਰਾ ਮਨੁ ਮੋਹਿਓ ਗੁਰ ਮੋਹਨਿ ਹਮ ਬਿਸਮ ਭਈ ਮੁਖਿ ਲਾਗੇ ॥੧॥

हमरा मनु मोहिओ गुर मोहनि हम बिसम भई मुखि लागे ॥१॥

Hamaraa manu mohio gur mohani ham bisam bhaee mukhi laage ||1||

My mind is enticed by the Guru, the Enticer; beholding Him, I am wonder-struck. ||1||


ਸਗਲੀ ਰੈਣਿ ਸੋਈ ਅੰਧਿਆਰੀ ਗੁਰ ਕਿੰਚਤ ਕਿਰਪਾ ਜਾਗੇ ॥

सगली रैणि सोई अंधिआरी गुर किंचत किरपा जागे ॥

Sagalee rai(nn)i soee anddhiaaree gur kincchat kirapaa jaage ||

I slept through the entire dark night of my life, but through the tiniest bit of the Guru's Grace, I have been awakened.

ਜਨ ਨਾਨਕ ਕੇ ਪ੍ਰਭ ਸੁੰਦਰ ਸੁਆਮੀ ਮੋਹਿ ਤੁਮ ਸਰਿ ਅਵਰੁ ਨ ਲਾਗੇ ॥੨॥੧॥

जन नानक के प्रभ सुंदर सुआमी मोहि तुम सरि अवरु न लागे ॥२॥१॥

Jan naanak ke prbh sunddar suaamee mohi tum sari avaru na laage ||2||1||

O Beautiful Lord God, Master of servant Nanak, there is none comparable to You. ||2||1||

ਮੇਰੋ ਸੁੰਦਰੁ ਕਹਹੁ ਮਿਲੈ ਕਿਤੁ ਗਲੀ ॥

मेरो सुंदरु कहहु मिलै कितु गली ॥

Mero sunddaru kahahu milai kitu galee ||

Tell me - on what path will I find my Beauteous Lord?

ਹਰਿ ਕੇ ਸੰਤ ਬਤਾਵਹੁ ਮਾਰਗੁ ਹਮ ਪੀਛੈ ਲਾਗਿ ਚਲੀ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥

हरि के संत बतावहु मारगु हम पीछै लागि चली ॥१॥ रहाउ ॥

Hari ke santt bataavahu maaragu ham peechhai laagi chalee ||1|| rahaau ||

O Saints of the Lord, show me the Way, and I shall follow. ||1|| Pause ||


ਪ੍ਰਿਅ ਕੇ ਬਚਨ ਸੁਖਾਨੇ ਹੀਅਰੈ ਇਹ ਚਾਲ ਬਨੀ ਹੈ ਭਲੀ ॥

प्रिअ के बचन सुखाने हीअरै इह चाल बनी है भली ॥

Pria ke bachan sukhaane heearai ih chaal banee hai bhalee ||

I cherish in my heart the Words of my Beloved; this is the best way.

ਲਟੁਰੀ ਮਧੁਰੀ ਠਾਕੁਰ ਭਾਈ ਓਹ ਸੁੰਦਰਿ ਹਰਿ ਢੁਲਿ ਮਿਲੀ ॥੧॥

लटुरी मधुरी ठाकुर भाई ओह सुंदरि हरि ढुलि मिली ॥१॥

Laturee madhuree thaakur bhaaee oh sunddari hari dhuli milee ||1||

The bride may be hunch-backed and short, but if she is loved by her Lord Master, she becomes beautiful, and she melts in the Lord's embrace. ||1||


ਏਕੋ ਪ੍ਰਿਉ ਸਖੀਆ ਸਭ ਪ੍ਰਿਅ ਕੀ ਜੋ ਭਾਵੈ ਪਿਰ ਸਾ ਭਲੀ ॥

एको प्रिउ सखीआ सभ प्रिअ की जो भावै पिर सा भली ॥

Eko priu sakheeaa sabh pria kee jo bhaavai pir saa bhalee ||

There is only the One Beloved - we are all soul-brides of our Husband Lord. She who is pleasing to her Husband Lord is good.

ਨਾਨਕੁ ਗਰੀਬੁ ਕਿਆ ਕਰੈ ਬਿਚਾਰਾ ਹਰਿ ਭਾਵੈ ਤਿਤੁ ਰਾਹਿ ਚਲੀ ॥੨॥੨॥

नानकु गरीबु किआ करै बिचारा हरि भावै तितु राहि चली ॥२॥२॥

Naanaku gareebu kiaa karai bichaaraa hari bhaavai titu raahi chalee ||2||2||

What can poor, helpless Nanak do? As it pleases the Lord, so does he walk. ||2||2||

Mere man mukhi hari hari hari boleeai ||

O my mind, chant the Name of the Lord, Har, Har, Har.

ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿ ਰੰਗਿ ਚਲੂਲੈ ਰਾਤੀ ਹਰਿ ਪ੍ਰੇਮ ਭੀਨੀ ਚੋਲੀਐ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥

गुरमुखि रंगि चलूलै राती हरि प्रेम भीनी चोलीऐ ॥१॥ रहाउ ॥

Guramukhi ranggi chaloolai raatee hari prem bheenee choleeai ||1|| rahaau ||

The Gurmukh is imbued with the deep red color of the poppy. His shawl is saturated with the Lord's Love. ||1|| Pause ||


ਹਉ ਫਿਰਉ ਦਿਵਾਨੀ ਆਵਲ ਬਾਵਲ ਤਿਸੁ ਕਾਰਣਿ ਹਰਿ ਢੋਲੀਐ ॥

हउ फिरउ दिवानी आवल बावल तिसु कारणि हरि ढोलीऐ ॥

Hau phirau divaanee aaval baaval tisu kaara(nn)i hari dholeeai ||

I wander around here and there, like a madman, bewildered, seeking out my Darling Lord.

ਕੋਈ ਮੇਲੈ ਮੇਰਾ ਪ੍ਰੀਤਮੁ ਪਿਆਰਾ ਹਮ ਤਿਸ ਕੀ ਗੁਲ ਗੋਲੀਐ ॥੧॥

कोई मेलै मेरा प्रीतमु पिआरा हम तिस की गुल गोलीऐ ॥१॥

Koee melai meraa preetamu piaaraa ham tis kee gul goleeai ||1||

I shall be the slave of the slave of whoever unites me with my Darling Beloved. ||1||


ਸਤਿਗੁਰੁ ਪੁਰਖੁ ਮਨਾਵਹੁ ਅਪੁਨਾ ਹਰਿ ਅੰਮ੍ਰਿਤੁ ਪੀ ਝੋਲੀਐ ॥

सतिगुरु पुरखु मनावहु अपुना हरि अम्रितु पी झोलीऐ ॥

Satiguru purakhu manaavahu apunaa hari ammmritu pee jholeeai ||

So align yourself with the Almighty True Guru; drink in and savor the Ambrosial Nectar of the Lord.

ਗੁਰ ਪ੍ਰਸਾਦਿ ਜਨ ਨਾਨਕ ਪਾਇਆ ਹਰਿ ਲਾਧਾ ਦੇਹ ਟੋਲੀਐ ॥੨॥੩॥

गुर प्रसादि जन नानक पाइआ हरि लाधा देह टोलीऐ ॥२॥३॥

Gur prsaadi jan naanak paaiaa hari laadhaa deh toleeai ||2||3||

By Guru's Grace, servant Nanak has obtained the wealth of the Lord within. ||2||3||

ਅਬ ਹਮ ਚਲੀ ਠਾਕੁਰ ਪਹਿ ਹਾਰਿ ॥

अब हम चली ठाकुर पहि हारि ॥

Ab ham chalee thaakur pahi haari ||

Now, I have come, exhausted, to my Lord and Master.

ਜਬ ਹਮ ਸਰਣਿ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਕੀ ਆਈ ਰਾਖੁ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਭਾਵੈ ਮਾਰਿ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥

जब हम सरणि प्रभू की आई राखु प्रभू भावै मारि ॥१॥ रहाउ ॥

Jab ham sara(nn)i prbhoo kee aaee raakhu prbhoo bhaavai maari ||1|| rahaau ||

Now that I have come seeking Your Sanctuary, God, please, either save me, or kill me. ||1|| Pause ||


ਲੋਕਨ ਕੀ ਚਤੁਰਾਈ ਉਪਮਾ ਤੇ ਬੈਸੰਤਰਿ ਜਾਰਿ ॥

लोकन की चतुराई उपमा ते बैसंतरि जारि ॥

Lokan kee chaturaaee upamaa te baisanttari jaari ||

I have burnt in the fire the clever devices and praises of the world.

ਕੋਈ ਭਲਾ ਕਹਉ ਭਾਵੈ ਬੁਰਾ ਕਹਉ ਹਮ ਤਨੁ ਦੀਓ ਹੈ ਢਾਰਿ ॥੧॥

कोई भला कहउ भावै बुरा कहउ हम तनु दीओ है ढारि ॥१॥

Koee bhalaa kahau bhaavai buraa kahau ham tanu deeo hai dhaari ||1||

Some speak good of me, and some speak ill of me, but I have surrendered my body to You. ||1||


ਜੋ ਆਵਤ ਸਰਣਿ ਠਾਕੁਰ ਪ੍ਰਭੁ ਤੁਮਰੀ ਤਿਸੁ ਰਾਖਹੁ ਕਿਰਪਾ ਧਾਰਿ ॥

जो आवत सरणि ठाकुर प्रभु तुमरी तिसु राखहु किरपा धारि ॥

Jo aavat sara(nn)i thaakur prbhu tumaree tisu raakhahu kirapaa dhaari ||

Whoever comes to Your Sanctuary, O God, Lord and Master, You save by Your Merciful Grace.

ਜਨ ਨਾਨਕ ਸਰਣਿ ਤੁਮਾਰੀ ਹਰਿ ਜੀਉ ਰਾਖਹੁ ਲਾਜ ਮੁਰਾਰਿ ॥੨॥੪॥

जन नानक सरणि तुमारी हरि जीउ राखहु लाज मुरारि ॥२॥४॥

Jan naanak sara(nn)i tumaaree hari jeeu raakhahu laaj muraari ||2||4||

Servant Nanak has entered Your Sanctuary, Dear Lord; O Lord, please, protect his honor! ||2||4||

ਹਰਿ ਗੁਣ ਗਾਵੈ ਹਉ ਤਿਸੁ ਬਲਿਹਾਰੀ ॥

हरि गुण गावै हउ तिसु बलिहारी ॥

Hari gu(nn) gaavai hau tisu balihaaree ||

I am a sacrifice to one who sings the Glorious Praises of the Lord.

ਦੇਖਿ ਦੇਖਿ ਜੀਵਾ ਸਾਧ ਗੁਰ ਦਰਸਨੁ ਜਿਸੁ ਹਿਰਦੈ ਨਾਮੁ ਮੁਰਾਰੀ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥

देखि देखि जीवा साध गुर दरसनु जिसु हिरदै नामु मुरारी ॥१॥ रहाउ ॥

Dekhi dekhi jeevaa saadh gur darasanu jisu hiradai naamu muraaree ||1|| rahaau ||

I live by continuously beholding the Blessed Vision of the Holy Guru's Darshan; within His Mind is the Name of the Lord. ||1|| Pause ||


ਤੁਮ ਪਵਿਤ੍ਰ ਪਾਵਨ ਪੁਰਖ ਪ੍ਰਭ ਸੁਆਮੀ ਹਮ ਕਿਉ ਕਰਿ ਮਿਲਹ ਜੂਠਾਰੀ ॥

तुम पवित्र पावन पुरख प्रभ सुआमी हम किउ करि मिलह जूठारी ॥

Tum pavitr paavan purakh prbh suaamee ham kiu kari milah joothaaree ||

You are pure and immaculate, O God, Almighty Lord and Master; how can I, the impure one, meet You?

ਹਮਰੈ ਜੀਇ ਹੋਰੁ ਮੁਖਿ ਹੋਰੁ ਹੋਤ ਹੈ ਹਮ ਕਰਮਹੀਣ ਕੂੜਿਆਰੀ ॥੧॥

हमरै जीइ होरु मुखि होरु होत है हम करमहीण कूड़िआरी ॥१॥

Hamarai jeei horu mukhi horu hot hai ham karamahee(nn) koo(rr)iaaree ||1||

I have one thing in my mind, and another thing on my lips; I am such a poor, unfortunate liar! ||1||


ਹਮਰੀ ਮੁਦ੍ਰ ਨਾਮੁ ਹਰਿ ਸੁਆਮੀ ਰਿਦ ਅੰਤਰਿ ਦੁਸਟ ਦੁਸਟਾਰੀ ॥

हमरी मुद्र नामु हरि सुआमी रिद अंतरि दुसट दुसटारी ॥

Hamaree mudr naamu hari suaamee rid anttari dusat dusataaree ||

I appear to chant the Lord's Name, but within my heart, I am the most wicked of the wicked.

ਜਿਉ ਭਾਵੈ ਤਿਉ ਰਾਖਹੁ ਸੁਆਮੀ ਜਨ ਨਾਨਕ ਸਰਣਿ ਤੁਮ੍ਹ੍ਹਾਰੀ ॥੨॥੫॥

जिउ भावै तिउ राखहु सुआमी जन नानक सरणि तुम्हारी ॥२॥५॥

Jiu bhaavai tiu raakhahu suaamee jan naanak sara(nn)i tumhaaree ||2||5||

As it pleases You, save me, O Lord and Master; servant Nanak seeks Your Sanctuary. ||2||5||

ਹਰਿ ਕੇ ਨਾਮ ਬਿਨਾ ਸੁੰਦਰਿ ਹੈ ਨਕਟੀ ॥

हरि के नाम बिना सुंदरि है नकटी ॥

Hari ke naam binaa sunddari hai nakatee ||

Without the Name of the Lord, the beautiful are just like the noseless ones.

ਜਿਉ ਬੇਸੁਆ ਕੇ ਘਰਿ ਪੂਤੁ ਜਮਤੁ ਹੈ ਤਿਸੁ ਨਾਮੁ ਪਰਿਓ ਹੈ ਧ੍ਰਕਟੀ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥

जिउ बेसुआ के घरि पूतु जमतु है तिसु नामु परिओ है ध्रकटी ॥१॥ रहाउ ॥

Jiu besuaa ke ghari pootu jamatu hai tisu naamu pario hai dhrkatee ||1|| rahaau ||

Like the son, born into the house of a prostitute, his name is cursed. ||1|| Pause ||


ਜਿਨ ਕੈ ਹਿਰਦੈ ਨਾਹਿ ਹਰਿ ਸੁਆਮੀ ਤੇ ਬਿਗੜ ਰੂਪ ਬੇਰਕਟੀ ॥

जिन कै हिरदै नाहि हरि सुआमी ते बिगड़ रूप बेरकटी ॥

Jin kai hiradai naahi hari suaamee te biga(rr) roop berakatee ||

Those who do not have the Name of their Lord and Master within their hearts, are the most wretched, deformed lepers.

ਜਿਉ ਨਿਗੁਰਾ ਬਹੁ ਬਾਤਾ ਜਾਣੈ ਓਹੁ ਹਰਿ ਦਰਗਹ ਹੈ ਭ੍ਰਸਟੀ ॥੧॥

जिउ निगुरा बहु बाता जाणै ओहु हरि दरगह है भ्रसटी ॥१॥

Jiu niguraa bahu baataa jaa(nn)ai ohu hari daragah hai bhrsatee ||1||

Like the person who has no Guru, they may know many things, but they are cursed in the Court of the Lord. ||1||


ਜਿਨ ਕਉ ਦਇਆਲੁ ਹੋਆ ਮੇਰਾ ਸੁਆਮੀ ਤਿਨਾ ਸਾਧ ਜਨਾ ਪਗ ਚਕਟੀ ॥

जिन कउ दइआलु होआ मेरा सुआमी तिना साध जना पग चकटी ॥

Jin kau daiaalu hoaa meraa suaamee tinaa saadh janaa pag chakatee ||

Those, unto whom my Lord Master becomes Merciful, long for the feet of the Holy.

ਨਾਨਕ ਪਤਿਤ ਪਵਿਤ ਮਿਲਿ ਸੰਗਤਿ ਗੁਰ ਸਤਿਗੁਰ ਪਾਛੈ ਛੁਕਟੀ ॥੨॥੬॥ ਛਕਾ ੧

नानक पतित पवित मिलि संगति गुर सतिगुर पाछै छुकटी ॥२॥६॥ छका १

Naanak patit pavit mili sanggati gur satigur paachhai chhukatee ||2||6|| chhakaa 1

O Nanak, the sinners become pure, joining the Company of the Holy; following the Guru, the True Guru, they are emancipated. ||2||6|| Chhakaa 1||

One Universal Creator God. By The Grace Of The True Guru:

ਹਰਿ ਹਰਿ ਨਾਮੁ ਧਿਆਈਐ ਮੇਰੀ ਜਿੰਦੁੜੀਏ ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿ ਨਾਮੁ ਅਮੋਲੇ ਰਾਮ ॥

हरि हरि नामु धिआईऐ मेरी जिंदुड़ीए गुरमुखि नामु अमोले राम ॥

Hari hari naamu dhiaaeeai meree jinddu(rr)eee guramukhi naamu amole raam ||

Meditate on the Name of the Lord, Har, Har, O my soul; as Gurmukh, meditate on the invaluable Name of the Lord.

ਹਰਿ ਰਸਿ ਬੀਧਾ ਹਰਿ ਮਨੁ ਪਿਆਰਾ ਮਨੁ ਹਰਿ ਰਸਿ ਨਾਮਿ ਝਕੋਲੇ ਰਾਮ ॥

हरि रसि बीधा हरि मनु पिआरा मनु हरि रसि नामि झकोले राम ॥

Hari rasi beedhaa hari manu piaaraa manu hari rasi naami jhakole raam ||

My mind is pierced through by the sublime essence of the Lord's Name. The Lord is dear to my mind. With the sublime essence of the Lord's Name, my mind is washed clean.

ਗੁਰਮਤਿ ਮਨੁ ਠਹਰਾਈਐ ਮੇਰੀ ਜਿੰਦੁੜੀਏ ਅਨਤ ਨ ਕਾਹੂ ਡੋਲੇ ਰਾਮ ॥

गुरमति मनु ठहराईऐ मेरी जिंदुड़ीए अनत न काहू डोले राम ॥

Guramati manu thaharaaeeai meree jinddu(rr)eee anat na kaahoo dole raam ||

Under Guru's Instructions, hold your mind steady; O my soul, do not let it wander anywhere.

ਮਨ ਚਿੰਦਿਅੜਾ ਫਲੁ ਪਾਇਆ ਹਰਿ ਪ੍ਰਭੁ ਗੁਣ ਨਾਨਕ ਬਾਣੀ ਬੋਲੇ ਰਾਮ ॥੧॥

मन चिंदिअड़ा फलु पाइआ हरि प्रभु गुण नानक बाणी बोले राम ॥१॥

Man chinddia(rr)aa phalu paaiaa hari prbhu gu(nn) naanak baa(nn)ee bole raam ||1||

One who utters the Bani of the Praises of the Lord God, O Nanak, obtains the fruits of his heart's desires. ||1||


ਗੁਰਮਤਿ ਮਨਿ ਅੰਮ੍ਰਿਤੁ ਵੁਠੜਾ ਮੇਰੀ ਜਿੰਦੁੜੀਏ ਮੁਖਿ ਅੰਮ੍ਰਿਤ ਬੈਣ ਅਲਾਏ ਰਾਮ ॥

गुरमति मनि अम्रितु वुठड़ा मेरी जिंदुड़ीए मुखि अम्रित बैण अलाए राम ॥

Guramati mani ammmritu vutha(rr)aa meree jinddu(rr)eee mukhi ammmrit bai(nn) alaae raam ||

Under Guru's Instruction, the Ambrosial Name abides within the mind, O my soul; with your mouth, utter the words of ambrosia.

ਅੰਮ੍ਰਿਤ ਬਾਣੀ ਭਗਤ ਜਨਾ ਕੀ ਮੇਰੀ ਜਿੰਦੁੜੀਏ ਮਨਿ ਸੁਣੀਐ ਹਰਿ ਲਿਵ ਲਾਏ ਰਾਮ ॥

अम्रित बाणी भगत जना की मेरी जिंदुड़ीए मनि सुणीऐ हरि लिव लाए राम ॥

Ammmrit baa(nn)ee bhagat janaa kee meree jinddu(rr)eee mani su(nn)eeai hari liv laae raam ||

The Words of the devotees are Ambrosial Nectar, O my soul; hearing them in the mind, embrace loving affection for the Lord.

ਚਿਰੀ ਵਿਛੁੰਨਾ ਹਰਿ ਪ੍ਰਭੁ ਪਾਇਆ ਗਲਿ ਮਿਲਿਆ ਸਹਜਿ ਸੁਭਾਏ ਰਾਮ ॥

चिरी विछुंना हरि प्रभु पाइआ गलि मिलिआ सहजि सुभाए राम ॥

Chiree vichhunnaa hari prbhu paaiaa gali miliaa sahaji subhaae raam ||

Separated for so very long, I have found the Lord God; He holds me close in His loving embrace.

ਜਨ ਨਾਨਕ ਮਨਿ ਅਨਦੁ ਭਇਆ ਹੈ ਮੇਰੀ ਜਿੰਦੁੜੀਏ ਅਨਹਤ ਸਬਦ ਵਜਾਏ ਰਾਮ ॥੨॥

जन नानक मनि अनदु भइआ है मेरी जिंदुड़ीए अनहत सबद वजाए राम ॥२॥

Jan naanak mani anadu bhaiaa hai meree jinddu(rr)eee anahat sabad vajaae raam ||2||

Servant Nanak's mind is filled with bliss, O my soul; the unstruck sound-current of the Shabad vibrates within. ||2||


ਸਖੀ ਸਹੇਲੀ ਮੇਰੀਆ ਮੇਰੀ ਜਿੰਦੁੜੀਏ ਕੋਈ ਹਰਿ ਪ੍ਰਭੁ ਆਣਿ ਮਿਲਾਵੈ ਰਾਮ ॥

सखी सहेली मेरीआ मेरी जिंदुड़ीए कोई हरि प्रभु आणि मिलावै राम ॥

Sakhee sahelee mereeaa meree jinddu(rr)eee koee hari prbhu aa(nn)i milaavai raam ||

If only my friends and companions would come and unite me with my Lord God, O my soul.

ਹਉ ਮਨੁ ਦੇਵਉ ਤਿਸੁ ਆਪਣਾ ਮੇਰੀ ਜਿੰਦੁੜੀਏ ਹਰਿ ਪ੍ਰਭ ਕੀ ਹਰਿ ਕਥਾ ਸੁਣਾਵੈ ਰਾਮ ॥

हउ मनु देवउ तिसु आपणा मेरी जिंदुड़ीए हरि प्रभ की हरि कथा सुणावै राम ॥

Hau manu devau tisu aapa(nn)aa meree jinddu(rr)eee hari prbh kee hari kathaa su(nn)aavai raam ||

I offer my mind to the one who recites the sermon of my Lord God, O my soul.

ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿ ਸਦਾ ਅਰਾਧਿ ਹਰਿ ਮੇਰੀ ਜਿੰਦੁੜੀਏ ਮਨ ਚਿੰਦਿਅੜਾ ਫਲੁ ਪਾਵੈ ਰਾਮ ॥

गुरमुखि सदा अराधि हरि मेरी जिंदुड़ीए मन चिंदिअड़ा फलु पावै राम ॥

Guramukhi sadaa araadhi hari meree jinddu(rr)eee man chinddia(rr)aa phalu paavai raam ||

As Gurmukh, ever worship the Lord in adoration, O my soul, and you shall obtain the fruits of your heart's desires.

ਨਾਨਕ ਭਜੁ ਹਰਿ ਸਰਣਾਗਤੀ ਮੇਰੀ ਜਿੰਦੁੜੀਏ ਵਡਭਾਗੀ ਨਾਮੁ ਧਿਆਵੈ ਰਾਮ ॥੩॥

नानक भजु हरि सरणागती मेरी जिंदुड़ीए वडभागी नामु धिआवै राम ॥३॥

Naanak bhaju hari sara(nn)aagatee meree jinddu(rr)eee vadabhaagee naamu dhiaavai raam ||3||

O Nanak, hurry to the Lord's Sanctuary; O my soul, those who meditate on the Lord's Name are very fortunate. ||3||


ਕਰਿ ਕਿਰਪਾ ਪ੍ਰਭ ਆਇ ਮਿਲੁ ਮੇਰੀ ਜਿੰਦੁੜੀਏ ਗੁਰਮਤਿ ਨਾਮੁ ਪਰਗਾਸੇ ਰਾਮ ॥

करि किरपा प्रभ आइ मिलु मेरी जिंदुड़ीए गुरमति नामु परगासे राम ॥

Kari kirapaa prbh aai milu meree jinddu(rr)eee guramati naamu paragaase raam ||

By His Mercy, God comes to meet us, O my soul; through the Guru's Teachings, He reveals His Name.

ਹਉ ਹਰਿ ਬਾਝੁ ਉਡੀਣੀਆ ਮੇਰੀ ਜਿੰਦੁੜੀਏ ਜਿਉ ਜਲ ਬਿਨੁ ਕਮਲ ਉਦਾਸੇ ਰਾਮ ॥

हउ हरि बाझु उडीणीआ मेरी जिंदुड़ीए जिउ जल बिनु कमल उदासे राम ॥

Hau hari baajhu udee(nn)eeaa meree jinddu(rr)eee jiu jal binu kamal udaase raam ||

Without the Lord, I am so sad, O my soul - as sad as the lotus without water.

ਗੁਰਿ ਪੂਰੈ ਮੇਲਾਇਆ ਮੇਰੀ ਜਿੰਦੁੜੀਏ ਹਰਿ ਸਜਣੁ ਹਰਿ ਪ੍ਰਭੁ ਪਾਸੇ ਰਾਮ ॥

गुरि पूरै मेलाइआ मेरी जिंदुड़ीए हरि सजणु हरि प्रभु पासे राम ॥

Guri poorai melaaiaa meree jinddu(rr)eee hari saja(nn)u hari prbhu paase raam ||

The Perfect Guru has united me, O my soul, with the Lord, my best friend, the Lord God.

ਧਨੁ ਧਨੁ ਗੁਰੂ ਹਰਿ ਦਸਿਆ ਮੇਰੀ ਜਿੰਦੁੜੀਏ ਜਨ ਨਾਨਕ ਨਾਮਿ ਬਿਗਾਸੇ ਰਾਮ ॥੪॥੧॥

धनु धनु गुरू हरि दसिआ मेरी जिंदुड़ीए जन नानक नामि बिगासे राम ॥४॥१॥

Dhanu dhanu guroo hari dasiaa meree jinddu(rr)eee jan naanak naami bigaase raam ||4||1||

Blessed, blessed is the Guru, who has shown me the Lord, O my soul; servant Nanak blossoms forth in the Name of the Lord. ||4||1||

अम्रितु हरि हरि नामु है मेरी जिंदुड़ीए अम्रितु गुरमति पाए राम ॥

Ammmritu hari hari naamu hai meree jinddu(rr)eee ammmritu guramati paae raam ||

The Name of the Lord, Har, Har, is Ambrosial Nectar, O my soul; through the Guru's Teachings, this Nectar is obtained.

ਹਉਮੈ ਮਾਇਆ ਬਿਖੁ ਹੈ ਮੇਰੀ ਜਿੰਦੁੜੀਏ ਹਰਿ ਅੰਮ੍ਰਿਤਿ ਬਿਖੁ ਲਹਿ ਜਾਏ ਰਾਮ ॥

हउमै माइआ बिखु है मेरी जिंदुड़ीए हरि अम्रिति बिखु लहि जाए राम ॥

Haumai maaiaa bikhu hai meree jinddu(rr)eee hari ammmriti bikhu lahi jaae raam ||

Pride in Maya is poison, O my soul; through the Ambrosial Nectar of the Name, this poison is eradicated.

ਮਨੁ ਸੁਕਾ ਹਰਿਆ ਹੋਇਆ ਮੇਰੀ ਜਿੰਦੁੜੀਏ ਹਰਿ ਹਰਿ ਨਾਮੁ ਧਿਆਏ ਰਾਮ ॥

मनु सुका हरिआ होइआ मेरी जिंदुड़ीए हरि हरि नामु धिआए राम ॥

Manu sukaa hariaa hoiaa meree jinddu(rr)eee hari hari naamu dhiaae raam ||

The dry mind is rejuvenated, O my soul, meditating on the Name of the Lord, Har, Har.

ਹਰਿ ਭਾਗ ਵਡੇ ਲਿਖਿ ਪਾਇਆ ਮੇਰੀ ਜਿੰਦੁੜੀਏ ਜਨ ਨਾਨਕ ਨਾਮਿ ਸਮਾਏ ਰਾਮ ॥੧॥

हरि भाग वडे लिखि पाइआ मेरी जिंदुड़ीए जन नानक नामि समाए राम ॥१॥

Hari bhaag vade likhi paaiaa meree jinddu(rr)eee jan naanak naami samaae raam ||1||

The Lord has given me the pre-ordained blessing of high destiny, O my soul; servant Nanak merges in the Naam, the Name of the Lord. ||1||


ਹਰਿ ਸੇਤੀ ਮਨੁ ਬੇਧਿਆ ਮੇਰੀ ਜਿੰਦੁੜੀਏ ਜਿਉ ਬਾਲਕ ਲਗਿ ਦੁਧ ਖੀਰੇ ਰਾਮ ॥

हरि सेती मनु बेधिआ मेरी जिंदुड़ीए जिउ बालक लगि दुध खीरे राम ॥

Hari setee manu bedhiaa meree jinddu(rr)eee jiu baalak lagi dudh kheere raam ||

My mind is attached to the Lord, O my soul, like the infant, sucking his mother's milk.

ਹਰਿ ਬਿਨੁ ਸਾਂਤਿ ਨ ਪਾਈਐ ਮੇਰੀ ਜਿੰਦੁੜੀਏ ਜਿਉ ਚਾਤ੍ਰਿਕੁ ਜਲ ਬਿਨੁ ਟੇਰੇ ਰਾਮ ॥

हरि बिनु सांति न पाईऐ मेरी जिंदुड़ीए जिउ चात्रिकु जल बिनु टेरे राम ॥

Without the Lord, I find no peace, O my soul; I am like the song-bird, crying out without the rain drops.

ਸਤਿਗੁਰ ਸਰਣੀ ਜਾਇ ਪਉ ਮੇਰੀ ਜਿੰਦੁੜੀਏ ਗੁਣ ਦਸੇ ਹਰਿ ਪ੍ਰਭ ਕੇਰੇ ਰਾਮ ॥

सतिगुर सरणी जाइ पउ मेरी जिंदुड़ीए गुण दसे हरि प्रभ केरे राम ॥

Satigur sara(nn)ee jaai pau meree jinddu(rr)eee gu(nn) dase hari prbh kere raam ||

Go, and seek the Sanctuary of the True Guru, O my soul; He shall tell you of the Glorious Virtues of the Lord God.

ਜਨ ਨਾਨਕ ਹਰਿ ਮੇਲਾਇਆ ਮੇਰੀ ਜਿੰਦੁੜੀਏ ਘਰਿ ਵਾਜੇ ਸਬਦ ਘਣੇਰੇ ਰਾਮ ॥੨॥

जन नानक हरि मेलाइआ मेरी जिंदुड़ीए घरि वाजे सबद घणेरे राम ॥२॥

Jan naanak hari melaaiaa meree jinddu(rr)eee ghari vaaje sabad gha(nn)ere raam ||2||

Servant Nanak has merged into the Lord, O my soul; the many melodies of the Shabad resound within his heart. ||2||


ਮਨਮੁਖਿ ਹਉਮੈ ਵਿਛੁੜੇ ਮੇਰੀ ਜਿੰਦੁੜੀਏ ਬਿਖੁ ਬਾਧੇ ਹਉਮੈ ਜਾਲੇ ਰਾਮ ॥

मनमुखि हउमै विछुड़े मेरी जिंदुड़ीए बिखु बाधे हउमै जाले राम ॥

Manamukhi haumai vichhu(rr)e meree jinddu(rr)eee bikhu baadhe haumai jaale raam ||

Through egotism, the self-willed manmukhs are separated, O my soul; bound to poison, they are burnt by egotism.

ਜਿਉ ਪੰਖੀ ਕਪੋਤਿ ਆਪੁ ਬਨੑਾਇਆ ਮੇਰੀ ਜਿੰਦੁੜੀਏ ਤਿਉ ਮਨਮੁਖ ਸਭਿ ਵਸਿ ਕਾਲੇ ਰਾਮ ॥

जिउ पंखी कपोति आपु बन्हाइआ मेरी जिंदुड़ीए तिउ मनमुख सभि वसि काले राम ॥

Jiu pankkhee kapoti aapu banhaaiaa meree jinddu(rr)eee tiu manamukh sabhi vasi kaale raam ||

Like the pigeon, which itself falls into the trap, O my soul, all the self-willed manmukhs fall under the influence of death.

ਜੋ ਮੋਹਿ ਮਾਇਆ ਚਿਤੁ ਲਾਇਦੇ ਮੇਰੀ ਜਿੰਦੁੜੀਏ ਸੇ ਮਨਮੁਖ ਮੂੜ ਬਿਤਾਲੇ ਰਾਮ ॥

जो मोहि माइआ चितु लाइदे मेरी जिंदुड़ीए से मनमुख मूड़ बिताले राम ॥

Jo mohi maaiaa chitu laaide meree jinddu(rr)eee se manamukh moo(rr) bitaale raam ||

Those self-willed manmukhs who focus their consciousness on Maya, O my soul, are foolish, evil demons.

ਜਨ ਤ੍ਰਾਹਿ ਤ੍ਰਾਹਿ ਸਰਣਾਗਤੀ ਮੇਰੀ ਜਿੰਦੁੜੀਏ ਗੁਰ ਨਾਨਕ ਹਰਿ ਰਖਵਾਲੇ ਰਾਮ ॥੩॥

जन त्राहि त्राहि सरणागती मेरी जिंदुड़ीए गुर नानक हरि रखवाले राम ॥३॥

Jan traahi traahi sara(nn)aagatee meree jinddu(rr)eee gur naanak hari rakhavaale raam ||3||

The Lord's humble servants beseech and implore Him, and enter His Sanctuary, O my soul; Guru Nanak becomes their Divine Protector. ||3||


ਹਰਿ ਜਨ ਹਰਿ ਲਿਵ ਉਬਰੇ ਮੇਰੀ ਜਿੰਦੁੜੀਏ ਧੁਰਿ ਭਾਗ ਵਡੇ ਹਰਿ ਪਾਇਆ ਰਾਮ ॥

हरि जन हरि लिव उबरे मेरी जिंदुड़ीए धुरि भाग वडे हरि पाइआ राम ॥

Hari jan hari liv ubare meree jinddu(rr)eee dhuri bhaag vade hari paaiaa raam ||

The Lord's humble servants are saved, through the Love of the Lord, O my soul; by their pre-ordained good destiny, they obtain the Lord.

ਹਰਿ ਹਰਿ ਨਾਮੁ ਪੋਤੁ ਹੈ ਮੇਰੀ ਜਿੰਦੁੜੀਏ ਗੁਰ ਖੇਵਟ ਸਬਦਿ ਤਰਾਇਆ ਰਾਮ ॥

हरि हरि नामु पोतु है मेरी जिंदुड़ीए गुर खेवट सबदि तराइआ राम ॥

Hari hari naamu potu hai meree jinddu(rr)eee gur khevat sabadi taraaiaa raam ||

The Name of the Lord, Har, Har, is the ship, O my soul, and the Guru is the helmsman. Through the Word of the Shabad, He ferries us across.

ਹਰਿ ਹਰਿ ਪੁਰਖੁ ਦਇਆਲੁ ਹੈ ਮੇਰੀ ਜਿੰਦੁੜੀਏ ਗੁਰ ਸਤਿਗੁਰ ਮੀਠ ਲਗਾਇਆ ਰਾਮ ॥

हरि हरि पुरखु दइआलु है मेरी जिंदुड़ीए गुर सतिगुर मीठ लगाइआ राम ॥

Hari hari purakhu daiaalu hai meree jinddu(rr)eee gur satigur meeth lagaaiaa raam ||

The Lord, Har, Har, is all-powerful and very kind, O my soul; through the Guru, the True Guru, He seems so sweet.

ਕਰਿ ਕਿਰਪਾ ਸੁਣਿ ਬੇਨਤੀ ਹਰਿ ਹਰਿ ਜਨ ਨਾਨਕ ਨਾਮੁ ਧਿਆਇਆ ਰਾਮ ॥੪॥੨॥

करि किरपा सुणि बेनती हरि हरि जन नानक नामु धिआइआ राम ॥४॥२॥

Kari kirapaa su(nn)i benatee hari hari jan naanak naamu dhiaaiaa raam ||4||2||

Shower Your Mercy upon me, and hear my prayer, O Lord, Har, Har; please, let servant Nanak meditate on Your Name. ||4||2||

जगि सुक्रितु कीरति नामु है मेरी जिंदुड़ीए हरि कीरति हरि मनि धारे राम ॥

Jagi sukritu keerati naamu hai meree jinddu(rr)eee hari keerati hari mani dhaare raam ||

In this world, the best occupation is to sing the Praises of the Naam, O my soul. Singing the Praises of the Lord, the Lord is enshrined in the mind.

ਹਰਿ ਹਰਿ ਨਾਮੁ ਪਵਿਤੁ ਹੈ ਮੇਰੀ ਜਿੰਦੁੜੀਏ ਜਪਿ ਹਰਿ ਹਰਿ ਨਾਮੁ ਉਧਾਰੇ ਰਾਮ ॥

हरि हरि नामु पवितु है मेरी जिंदुड़ीए जपि हरि हरि नामु उधारे राम ॥

Hari hari naamu pavitu hai meree jinddu(rr)eee japi hari hari naamu udhaare raam ||

The Name of the Lord, Har, Har, is immaculate and pure, O my soul. Chanting the Name of the Lord, Har, Har, one is saved.

ਸਭ ਕਿਲਵਿਖ ਪਾਪ ਦੁਖ ਕਟਿਆ ਮੇਰੀ ਜਿੰਦੁੜੀਏ ਮਲੁ ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿ ਨਾਮਿ ਉਤਾਰੇ ਰਾਮ ॥

सभ किलविख पाप दुख कटिआ मेरी जिंदुड़ीए मलु गुरमुखि नामि उतारे राम ॥

Sabh kilavikh paap dukh katiaa meree jinddu(rr)eee malu guramukhi naami utaare raam ||

All sins and errors are erased, O my soul; with the Naam, the Gurmukh washes off this filth.

ਵਡ ਪੁੰਨੀ ਹਰਿ ਧਿਆਇਆ ਜਨ ਨਾਨਕ ਹਮ ਮੂਰਖ ਮੁਗਧ ਨਿਸਤਾਰੇ ਰਾਮ ॥੧॥

वड पुंनी हरि धिआइआ जन नानक हम मूरख मुगध निसतारे राम ॥१॥

Vad punnee hari dhiaaiaa jan naanak ham moorakh mugadh nisataare raam ||1||

By great good fortune, servant Nanak meditates on the Lord; even fools and idiots like me have been saved. ||1||


ਜੋ ਹਰਿ ਨਾਮੁ ਧਿਆਇਦੇ ਮੇਰੀ ਜਿੰਦੁੜੀਏ ਤਿਨਾ ਪੰਚੇ ਵਸਗਤਿ ਆਏ ਰਾਮ ॥

जो हरि नामु धिआइदे मेरी जिंदुड़ीए तिना पंचे वसगति आए राम ॥

Jo hari naamu dhiaaide meree jinddu(rr)eee tinaa pancche vasagati aae raam ||

Those who meditate on the Lord's Name, O my soul, overpower the five passions.

ਅੰਤਰਿ ਨਵ ਨਿਧਿ ਨਾਮੁ ਹੈ ਮੇਰੀ ਜਿੰਦੁੜੀਏ ਗੁਰੁ ਸਤਿਗੁਰੁ ਅਲਖੁ ਲਖਾਏ ਰਾਮ ॥

अंतरि नव निधि नामु है मेरी जिंदुड़ीए गुरु सतिगुरु अलखु लखाए राम ॥

Anttari nav nidhi naamu hai meree jinddu(rr)eee guru satiguru alakhu lakhaae raam ||

The nine treasures of the Naam are within, O my soul; the Great Guru has made me see the unseen Lord.

ਗੁਰਿ ਆਸਾ ਮਨਸਾ ਪੂਰੀਆ ਮੇਰੀ ਜਿੰਦੁੜੀਏ ਹਰਿ ਮਿਲਿਆ ਭੁਖ ਸਭ ਜਾਏ ਰਾਮ ॥

गुरि आसा मनसा पूरीआ मेरी जिंदुड़ीए हरि मिलिआ भुख सभ जाए राम ॥

Guri aasaa manasaa pooreeaa meree jinddu(rr)eee hari miliaa bhukh sabh jaae raam ||

The Guru has fulfilled my hopes and desires, O my soul; meeting the Lord, all my hunger is satisfied.

ਧੁਰਿ ਮਸਤਕਿ ਹਰਿ ਪ੍ਰਭਿ ਲਿਖਿਆ ਮੇਰੀ ਜਿੰਦੁੜੀਏ ਜਨ ਨਾਨਕ ਹਰਿ ਗੁਣ ਗਾਏ ਰਾਮ ॥੨॥

धुरि मसतकि हरि प्रभि लिखिआ मेरी जिंदुड़ीए जन नानक हरि गुण गाए राम ॥२॥

Dhuri masataki hari prbhi likhiaa meree jinddu(rr)eee jan naanak hari gu(nn) gaae raam ||2||

O servant Nanak, he alone sings the Glorious Praises of the Lord, O my soul, upon whose forehead God has inscribed such pre-ordained destiny. ||2||


ਹਮ ਪਾਪੀ ਬਲਵੰਚੀਆ ਮੇਰੀ ਜਿੰਦੁੜੀਏ ਪਰਦ੍ਰੋਹੀ ਠਗ ਮਾਇਆ ਰਾਮ ॥

हम पापी बलवंचीआ मेरी जिंदुड़ीए परद्रोही ठग माइआ राम ॥

Ham paapee balavanccheeaa meree jinddu(rr)eee paradrohee thag maaiaa raam ||

I am a deceitful sinner, O my soul, a cheat, and a robber of others' wealth.

ਵਡਭਾਗੀ ਗੁਰੁ ਪਾਇਆ ਮੇਰੀ ਜਿੰਦੁੜੀਏ ਗੁਰਿ ਪੂਰੈ ਗਤਿ ਮਿਤਿ ਪਾਇਆ ਰਾਮ ॥

वडभागी गुरु पाइआ मेरी जिंदुड़ीए गुरि पूरै गति मिति पाइआ राम ॥

Vadabhaagee guru paaiaa meree jinddu(rr)eee guri poorai gati miti paaiaa raam ||

But, by great good fortune, I have found the Guru, O my soul; through the Perfect Guru, I have found the way to salvation.

ਗੁਰਿ ਅੰਮ੍ਰਿਤੁ ਹਰਿ ਮੁਖਿ ਚੋਇਆ ਮੇਰੀ ਜਿੰਦੁੜੀਏ ਫਿਰਿ ਮਰਦਾ ਬਹੁੜਿ ਜੀਵਾਇਆ ਰਾਮ ॥

गुरि अम्रितु हरि मुखि चोइआ मेरी जिंदुड़ीए फिरि मरदा बहुड़ि जीवाइआ राम ॥

Guri ammmritu hari mukhi choiaa meree jinddu(rr)eee phiri maradaa bahu(rr)i jeevaaiaa raam ||

The Guru has poured the Ambrosial Nectar of the Lord's Name into my mouth, O my soul, and now, my dead soul has come to life again.

ਜਨ ਨਾਨਕ ਸਤਿਗੁਰ ਜੋ ਮਿਲੇ ਮੇਰੀ ਜਿੰਦੁੜੀਏ ਤਿਨ ਕੇ ਸਭ ਦੁਖ ਗਵਾਇਆ ਰਾਮ ॥੩॥

जन नानक सतिगुर जो मिले मेरी जिंदुड़ीए तिन के सभ दुख गवाइआ राम ॥३॥

Jan naanak satigur jo mile meree jinddu(rr)eee tin ke sabh dukh gavaaiaa raam ||3||

O servant Nanak: those who meet the True Guru, O my soul, have all of their pains taken away. ||3||


ਅਤਿ ਊਤਮੁ ਹਰਿ ਨਾਮੁ ਹੈ ਮੇਰੀ ਜਿੰਦੁੜੀਏ ਜਿਤੁ ਜਪਿਐ ਪਾਪ ਗਵਾਤੇ ਰਾਮ ॥

अति ऊतमु हरि नामु है मेरी जिंदुड़ीए जितु जपिऐ पाप गवाते राम ॥

Ati utamu hari naamu hai meree jinddu(rr)eee jitu japiai paap gavaate raam ||

The Name of the Lord is sublime, O my soul; chanting it, one's sins are washed away.

ਪਤਿਤ ਪਵਿਤ੍ਰ ਗੁਰਿ ਹਰਿ ਕੀਏ ਮੇਰੀ ਜਿੰਦੁੜੀਏ ਚਹੁ ਕੁੰਡੀ ਚਹੁ ਜੁਗਿ ਜਾਤੇ ਰਾਮ ॥

पतित पवित्र गुरि हरि कीए मेरी जिंदुड़ीए चहु कुंडी चहु जुगि जाते राम ॥

Patit pavitr guri hari keee meree jinddu(rr)eee chahu kunddee chahu jugi jaate raam ||

The Guru, the Lord, has purified even the sinners, O my soul; now, they are famous and respected in the four directions and throughout the four ages.

ਹਉਮੈ ਮੈਲੁ ਸਭ ਉਤਰੀ ਮੇਰੀ ਜਿੰਦੁੜੀਏ ਹਰਿ ਅੰਮ੍ਰਿਤਿ ਹਰਿ ਸਰਿ ਨਾਤੇ ਰਾਮ ॥

हउमै मैलु सभ उतरी मेरी जिंदुड़ीए हरि अम्रिति हरि सरि नाते राम ॥

Haumai mailu sabh utaree meree jinddu(rr)eee hari ammmriti hari sari naate raam ||

The filth of egotism is totally wiped away, O my soul, by bathing in the Ambrosial Pool of the Lord's Name.

ਅਪਰਾਧੀ ਪਾਪੀ ਉਧਰੇ ਮੇਰੀ ਜਿੰਦੁੜੀਏ ਜਨ ਨਾਨਕ ਖਿਨੁ ਹਰਿ ਰਾਤੇ ਰਾਮ ॥੪॥੩॥

अपराधी पापी उधरे मेरी जिंदुड़ीए जन नानक खिनु हरि राते राम ॥४॥३॥

Aparaadhee paapee udhare meree jinddu(rr)eee jan naanak khinu hari raate raam ||4||3||

Even sinners are carried across, O my soul, if they are imbued with the Lord's Name, even for an instant, O servant Nanak. ||4||3||

Hau balihaaree tinh kau meree jinddu(rr)eee jinh hari hari naamu adhaaro raam ||

I am a sacrifice, O my soul, to those who take the Support of the Name of the Lord, Har, Har.

ਗੁਰਿ ਸਤਿਗੁਰਿ ਨਾਮੁ ਦ੍ਰਿੜਾਇਆ ਮੇਰੀ ਜਿੰਦੁੜੀਏ ਬਿਖੁ ਭਉਜਲੁ ਤਾਰਣਹਾਰੋ ਰਾਮ ॥

गुरि सतिगुरि नामु द्रिड़ाइआ मेरी जिंदुड़ीए बिखु भउजलु तारणहारो राम ॥

Guri satiguri naamu dri(rr)aaiaa meree jinddu(rr)eee bikhu bhaujalu taara(nn)ahaaro raam ||

The Guru, the True Guru, implanted the Name within me, O my soul, and He has carried me across the terrifying world-ocean of poison.

ਜਿਨ ਇਕ ਮਨਿ ਹਰਿ ਧਿਆਇਆ ਮੇਰੀ ਜਿੰਦੁੜੀਏ ਤਿਨ ਸੰਤ ਜਨਾ ਜੈਕਾਰੋ ਰਾਮ ॥

जिन इक मनि हरि धिआइआ मेरी जिंदुड़ीए तिन संत जना जैकारो राम ॥

Jin ik mani hari dhiaaiaa meree jinddu(rr)eee tin santt janaa jaikaaro raam ||

Those who have meditated one-pointedly on the Lord, O my soul - I proclaim the Victory of those saintly beings.

ਨਾਨਕ ਹਰਿ ਜਪਿ ਸੁਖੁ ਪਾਇਆ ਮੇਰੀ ਜਿੰਦੁੜੀਏ ਸਭਿ ਦੂਖ ਨਿਵਾਰਣਹਾਰੋ ਰਾਮ ॥੧॥

नानक हरि जपि सुखु पाइआ मेरी जिंदुड़ीए सभि दूख निवारणहारो राम ॥१॥

Naanak hari japi sukhu paaiaa meree jinddu(rr)eee sabhi dookh nivaara(nn)ahaaro raam ||1||

Nanak has found peace, meditating on the Lord, O my soul; the Lord is the Destroyer of all pain. ||1||


ਸਾ ਰਸਨਾ ਧਨੁ ਧੰਨੁ ਹੈ ਮੇਰੀ ਜਿੰਦੁੜੀਏ ਗੁਣ ਗਾਵੈ ਹਰਿ ਪ੍ਰਭ ਕੇਰੇ ਰਾਮ ॥

सा रसना धनु धंनु है मेरी जिंदुड़ीए गुण गावै हरि प्रभ केरे राम ॥

Saa rasanaa dhanu dhannu hai meree jinddu(rr)eee gu(nn) gaavai hari prbh kere raam ||

Blessed, blessed is that tongue, O my soul, which sings the Glorious Praises of the Lord God.

ਤੇ ਸ੍ਰਵਨ ਭਲੇ ਸੋਭਨੀਕ ਹਹਿ ਮੇਰੀ ਜਿੰਦੁੜੀਏ ਹਰਿ ਕੀਰਤਨੁ ਸੁਣਹਿ ਹਰਿ ਤੇਰੇ ਰਾਮ ॥

ते स्रवन भले सोभनीक हहि मेरी जिंदुड़ीए हरि कीरतनु सुणहि हरि तेरे राम ॥

Te srvan bhale sobhaneek hahi meree jinddu(rr)eee hari keeratanu su(nn)ahi hari tere raam ||

Sublime and splendid are those ears, O my soul, which listen to the Kirtan of the Lord's Praises.

ਸੋ ਸੀਸੁ ਭਲਾ ਪਵਿਤ੍ਰ ਪਾਵਨੁ ਹੈ ਮੇਰੀ ਜਿੰਦੁੜੀਏ ਜੋ ਜਾਇ ਲਗੈ ਗੁਰ ਪੈਰੇ ਰਾਮ ॥

सो सीसु भला पवित्र पावनु है मेरी जिंदुड़ीए जो जाइ लगै गुर पैरे राम ॥

So seesu bhalaa pavitr paavanu hai meree jinddu(rr)eee jo jaai lagai gur paire raam ||

Sublime, pure and pious is that head, O my soul, which falls at the Guru's Feet.

ਗੁਰ ਵਿਟਹੁ ਨਾਨਕੁ ਵਾਰਿਆ ਮੇਰੀ ਜਿੰਦੁੜੀਏ ਜਿਨਿ ਹਰਿ ਹਰਿ ਨਾਮੁ ਚਿਤੇਰੇ ਰਾਮ ॥੨॥

गुर विटहु नानकु वारिआ मेरी जिंदुड़ीए जिनि हरि हरि नामु चितेरे राम ॥२॥

Gur vitahu naanaku vaariaa meree jinddu(rr)eee jini hari hari naamu chitere raam ||2||

Nanak is a sacrifice to that Guru, O my soul; the Guru has placed the Name of the Lord, Har, Har, in my mind. ||2||


ਤੇ ਨੇਤ੍ਰ ਭਲੇ ਪਰਵਾਣੁ ਹਹਿ ਮੇਰੀ ਜਿੰਦੁੜੀਏ ਜੋ ਸਾਧੂ ਸਤਿਗੁਰੁ ਦੇਖਹਿ ਰਾਮ ॥

ते नेत्र भले परवाणु हहि मेरी जिंदुड़ीए जो साधू सतिगुरु देखहि राम ॥

Te netr bhale paravaa(nn)u hahi meree jinddu(rr)eee jo saadhoo satiguru dekhahi raam ||

Blessed and approved are those eyes, O my soul, which gaze upon the Holy True Guru.

ਤੇ ਹਸਤ ਪੁਨੀਤ ਪਵਿਤ੍ਰ ਹਹਿ ਮੇਰੀ ਜਿੰਦੁੜੀਏ ਜੋ ਹਰਿ ਜਸੁ ਹਰਿ ਹਰਿ ਲੇਖਹਿ ਰਾਮ ॥

ते हसत पुनीत पवित्र हहि मेरी जिंदुड़ीए जो हरि जसु हरि हरि लेखहि राम ॥

Te hasat puneet pavitr hahi meree jinddu(rr)eee jo hari jasu hari hari lekhahi raam ||

Sacred and sanctified are those hands, O my soul, which write the Praises of the Lord, Har, Har.

ਤਿਸੁ ਜਨ ਕੇ ਪਗ ਨਿਤ ਪੂਜੀਅਹਿ ਮੇਰੀ ਜਿੰਦੁੜੀਏ ਜੋ ਮਾਰਗਿ ਧਰਮ ਚਲੇਸਹਿ ਰਾਮ ॥

तिसु जन के पग नित पूजीअहि मेरी जिंदुड़ीए जो मारगि धरम चलेसहि राम ॥

Tisu jan ke pag nit poojeeahi meree jinddu(rr)eee jo maaragi dharam chalesahi raam ||

I worship continually the feet of that humble being, O my soul, who walks on the Path of Dharma - the path of righteousness.

ਨਾਨਕੁ ਤਿਨ ਵਿਟਹੁ ਵਾਰਿਆ ਮੇਰੀ ਜਿੰਦੁੜੀਏ ਹਰਿ ਸੁਣਿ ਹਰਿ ਨਾਮੁ ਮਨੇਸਹਿ ਰਾਮ ॥੩॥

नानकु तिन विटहु वारिआ मेरी जिंदुड़ीए हरि सुणि हरि नामु मनेसहि राम ॥३॥

Naanaku tin vitahu vaariaa meree jinddu(rr)eee hari su(nn)i hari naamu manesahi raam ||3||

Nanak is a sacrifice to those, O my soul, who hear of the Lord, and believe in the Lord's Name. ||3||


ਧਰਤਿ ਪਾਤਾਲੁ ਆਕਾਸੁ ਹੈ ਮੇਰੀ ਜਿੰਦੁੜੀਏ ਸਭ ਹਰਿ ਹਰਿ ਨਾਮੁ ਧਿਆਵੈ ਰਾਮ ॥

धरति पातालु आकासु है मेरी जिंदुड़ीए सभ हरि हरि नामु धिआवै राम ॥

Dharati paataalu aakaasu hai meree jinddu(rr)eee sabh hari hari naamu dhiaavai raam ||

The earth, the nether regions of the underworld, and the Akaashic ethers, O my soul, all meditate on the Name of the Lord, Har, Har.

ਪਉਣੁ ਪਾਣੀ ਬੈਸੰਤਰੋ ਮੇਰੀ ਜਿੰਦੁੜੀਏ ਨਿਤ ਹਰਿ ਹਰਿ ਹਰਿ ਜਸੁ ਗਾਵੈ ਰਾਮ ॥

पउणु पाणी बैसंतरो मेरी जिंदुड़ीए नित हरि हरि हरि जसु गावै राम ॥

Pau(nn)u paa(nn)ee baisanttaro meree jinddu(rr)eee nit hari hari hari jasu gaavai raam ||

Wind, water and fire, O my soul, continually sing the Praises of the Lord, Har, Har, Har.

ਵਣੁ ਤ੍ਰਿਣੁ ਸਭੁ ਆਕਾਰੁ ਹੈ ਮੇਰੀ ਜਿੰਦੁੜੀਏ ਮੁਖਿ ਹਰਿ ਹਰਿ ਨਾਮੁ ਧਿਆਵੈ ਰਾਮ ॥

वणु त्रिणु सभु आकारु है मेरी जिंदुड़ीए मुखि हरि हरि नामु धिआवै राम ॥

Va(nn)u tri(nn)u sabhu aakaaru hai meree jinddu(rr)eee mukhi hari hari naamu dhiaavai raam ||

The woods, the meadows and the whole world, O my soul, chant with their mouths the Lord's Name, and meditate on the Lord.

ਨਾਨਕ ਤੇ ਹਰਿ ਦਰਿ ਪੈਨੑਾਇਆ ਮੇਰੀ ਜਿੰਦੁੜੀਏ ਜੋ ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿ ਭਗਤਿ ਮਨੁ ਲਾਵੈ ਰਾਮ ॥੪॥੪॥

नानक ते हरि दरि पैन्हाइआ मेरी जिंदुड़ीए जो गुरमुखि भगति मनु लावै राम ॥४॥४॥

Naanak te hari dari painhaaiaa meree jinddu(rr)eee jo guramukhi bhagati manu laavai raam ||4||4||

O Nanak, one who, as Gurmukh, focuses his consciousness on the Lord's devotional worship - O my soul, he is robed in honor in the Court of the Lord. ||4||4||

ਜਿਨ ਹਰਿ ਹਰਿ ਨਾਮੁ ਨ ਚੇਤਿਓ ਮੇਰੀ ਜਿੰਦੁੜੀਏ ਤੇ ਮਨਮੁਖ ਮੂੜ ਇਆਣੇ ਰਾਮ ॥

जिन हरि हरि नामु न चेतिओ मेरी जिंदुड़ीए ते मनमुख मूड़ इआणे राम ॥

Jin hari hari naamu na chetio meree jinddu(rr)eee te manamukh moo(rr) iaa(nn)e raam ||

Those who do not remember the Name of the Lord, Har, Har, O my soul - those self-willed manmukhs are foolish and ignorant.

ਜੋ ਮੋਹਿ ਮਾਇਆ ਚਿਤੁ ਲਾਇਦੇ ਮੇਰੀ ਜਿੰਦੁੜੀਏ ਸੇ ਅੰਤਿ ਗਏ ਪਛੁਤਾਣੇ ਰਾਮ ॥

जो मोहि माइआ चितु लाइदे मेरी जिंदुड़ीए से अंति गए पछुताणे राम ॥

Jo mohi maaiaa chitu laaide meree jinddu(rr)eee se antti gae pachhutaa(nn)e raam ||

Those who attach their consciousness to emotional attachment and Maya, O my soul, depart regretfully in the end.

ਹਰਿ ਦਰਗਹ ਢੋਈ ਨਾ ਲਹਨੑਿ ਮੇਰੀ ਜਿੰਦੁੜੀਏ ਜੋ ਮਨਮੁਖ ਪਾਪਿ ਲੁਭਾਣੇ ਰਾਮ ॥

हरि दरगह ढोई ना लहन्हि मेरी जिंदुड़ीए जो मनमुख पापि लुभाणे राम ॥

Hari daragah dhoee naa lahanhi meree jinddu(rr)eee jo manamukh paapi lubhaa(nn)e raam ||

They find no place of rest in the Court of the Lord, O my soul; those self-willed manmukhs are deluded by sin.

ਜਨ ਨਾਨਕ ਗੁਰ ਮਿਲਿ ਉਬਰੇ ਮੇਰੀ ਜਿੰਦੁੜੀਏ ਹਰਿ ਜਪਿ ਹਰਿ ਨਾਮਿ ਸਮਾਣੇ ਰਾਮ ॥੧॥

जन नानक गुर मिलि उबरे मेरी जिंदुड़ीए हरि जपि हरि नामि समाणे राम ॥१॥

Jan naanak gur mili ubare meree jinddu(rr)eee hari japi hari naami samaa(nn)e raam ||1||

O servant Nanak, those who meet the Guru are saved, O my soul; chanting the Name of the Lord, they are absorbed in the Name of the Lord. ||1||


ਸਭਿ ਜਾਇ ਮਿਲਹੁ ਸਤਿਗੁਰੂ ਕਉ ਮੇਰੀ ਜਿੰਦੁੜੀਏ ਜੋ ਹਰਿ ਹਰਿ ਨਾਮੁ ਦ੍ਰਿੜਾਵੈ ਰਾਮ ॥

सभि जाइ मिलहु सतिगुरू कउ मेरी जिंदुड़ीए जो हरि हरि नामु द्रिड़ावै राम ॥

Sabhi jaai milahu satiguroo kau meree jinddu(rr)eee jo hari hari naamu dri(rr)aavai raam ||

Go, everyone, and meet the True Guru; O my soul, He implants the Name of the Lord, Har, har, within the heart.

ਹਰਿ ਜਪਦਿਆ ਖਿਨੁ ਢਿਲ ਨ ਕੀਜਈ ਮੇਰੀ ਜਿੰਦੁੜੀਏ ਮਤੁ ਕਿ ਜਾਪੈ ਸਾਹੁ ਆਵੈ ਕਿ ਨ ਆਵੈ ਰਾਮ ॥

हरि जपदिआ खिनु ढिल न कीजई मेरी जिंदुड़ीए मतु कि जापै साहु आवै कि न आवै राम ॥

Hari japadiaa khinu dhil na keejaee meree jinddu(rr)eee matu ki jaapai saahu aavai ki na aavai raam ||

Do not hesitate for an instant - meditate on the Lord, O my soul; who knows whether he shall draw another breath?

ਸਾ ਵੇਲਾ ਸੋ ਮੂਰਤੁ ਸਾ ਘੜੀ ਸੋ ਮੁਹਤੁ ਸਫਲੁ ਹੈ ਮੇਰੀ ਜਿੰਦੁੜੀਏ ਜਿਤੁ ਹਰਿ ਮੇਰਾ ਚਿਤਿ ਆਵੈ ਰਾਮ ॥

सा वेला सो मूरतु सा घड़ी सो मुहतु सफलु है मेरी जिंदुड़ीए जितु हरि मेरा चिति आवै राम ॥

Saa velaa so mooratu saa gha(rr)ee so muhatu saphalu hai meree jinddu(rr)eee jitu hari meraa chiti aavai raam ||

That time, that moment, that instant, that second is so fruitful, O my soul, when my Lord comes into my mind.

ਜਨ ਨਾਨਕ ਨਾਮੁ ਧਿਆਇਆ ਮੇਰੀ ਜਿੰਦੁੜੀਏ ਜਮਕੰਕਰੁ ਨੇੜਿ ਨ ਆਵੈ ਰਾਮ ॥੨॥

जन नानक नामु धिआइआ मेरी जिंदुड़ीए जमकंकरु नेड़ि न आवै राम ॥२॥

Jan naanak naamu dhiaaiaa meree jinddu(rr)eee jamakankkaru ne(rr)i na aavai raam ||2||

Servant Nanak has meditated on the Naam, the Name of the Lord, O my soul, and now, the Messenger of Death does not draw near him. ||2||


ਹਰਿ ਵੇਖੈ ਸੁਣੈ ਨਿਤ ਸਭੁ ਕਿਛੁ ਮੇਰੀ ਜਿੰਦੁੜੀਏ ਸੋ ਡਰੈ ਜਿਨਿ ਪਾਪ ਕਮਤੇ ਰਾਮ ॥

हरि वेखै सुणै नित सभु किछु मेरी जिंदुड़ीए सो डरै जिनि पाप कमते राम ॥

Hari vekhai su(nn)ai nit sabhu kichhu meree jinddu(rr)eee so darai jini paap kamate raam ||

The Lord continually watches, and hears everything, O my soul; he alone is afraid, who commits sins.

ਜਿਸੁ ਅੰਤਰੁ ਹਿਰਦਾ ਸੁਧੁ ਹੈ ਮੇਰੀ ਜਿੰਦੁੜੀਏ ਤਿਨਿ ਜਨਿ ਸਭਿ ਡਰ ਸੁਟਿ ਘਤੇ ਰਾਮ ॥

जिसु अंतरु हिरदा सुधु है मेरी जिंदुड़ीए तिनि जनि सभि डर सुटि घते राम ॥

Jisu anttaru hiradaa sudhu hai meree jinddu(rr)eee tini jani sabhi dar suti ghate raam ||

One whose heart is pure within, O my soul, casts off all his fears.

ਹਰਿ ਨਿਰਭਉ ਨਾਮਿ ਪਤੀਜਿਆ ਮੇਰੀ ਜਿੰਦੁੜੀਏ ਸਭਿ ਝਖ ਮਾਰਨੁ ਦੁਸਟ ਕੁਪਤੇ ਰਾਮ ॥

हरि निरभउ नामि पतीजिआ मेरी जिंदुड़ीए सभि झख मारनु दुसट कुपते राम ॥

Hari nirabhau naami pateejiaa meree jinddu(rr)eee sabhi jhakh maaranu dusat kupate raam ||

One who has faith in the Fearless Name of the Lord, O my soul - all his enemies and attackers speak against him in vain.

ਗੁਰੁ ਪੂਰਾ ਨਾਨਕਿ ਸੇਵਿਆ ਮੇਰੀ ਜਿੰਦੁੜੀਏ ਜਿਨਿ ਪੈਰੀ ਆਣਿ ਸਭਿ ਘਤੇ ਰਾਮ ॥੩॥

गुरु पूरा नानकि सेविआ मेरी जिंदुड़ीए जिनि पैरी आणि सभि घते राम ॥३॥

Guru pooraa naanaki seviaa meree jinddu(rr)eee jini pairee aa(nn)i sabhi ghate raam ||3||

Nanak has served the Perfect Guru, O my soul, who causes all to fall at His feet. ||3||


ਸੋ ਐਸਾ ਹਰਿ ਨਿਤ ਸੇਵੀਐ ਮੇਰੀ ਜਿੰਦੁੜੀਏ ਜੋ ਸਭ ਦੂ ਸਾਹਿਬੁ ਵਡਾ ਰਾਮ ॥

सो ऐसा हरि नित सेवीऐ मेरी जिंदुड़ीए जो सभ दू साहिबु वडा राम ॥

So aisaa hari nit seveeai meree jinddu(rr)eee jo sabh doo saahibu vadaa raam ||

Serve such a Lord continuously, O my soul, who is the Great Lord and Master of all.

ਜਿਨੑੀ ਇਕ ਮਨਿ ਇਕੁ ਅਰਾਧਿਆ ਮੇਰੀ ਜਿੰਦੁੜੀਏ ਤਿਨਾ ਨਾਹੀ ਕਿਸੈ ਦੀ ਕਿਛੁ ਚਡਾ ਰਾਮ ॥

जिन्ही इक मनि इकु अराधिआ मेरी जिंदुड़ीए तिना नाही किसै दी किछु चडा राम ॥

Jinhee ik mani iku araadhiaa meree jinddu(rr)eee tinaa naahee kisai dee kichhu chadaa raam ||

Those who single-mindedly worship Him in adoration, O my soul, are not subservient to anyone.

ਗੁਰ ਸੇਵਿਐ ਹਰਿ ਮਹਲੁ ਪਾਇਆ ਮੇਰੀ ਜਿੰਦੁੜੀਏ ਝਖ ਮਾਰਨੁ ਸਭਿ ਨਿੰਦਕ ਘੰਡਾ ਰਾਮ ॥

गुर सेविऐ हरि महलु पाइआ मेरी जिंदुड़ीए झख मारनु सभि निंदक घंडा राम ॥

Gur seviai hari mahalu paaiaa meree jinddu(rr)eee jhakh maaranu sabhi ninddak ghanddaa raam ||

Serving the Guru, I have obtained the Mansion of the Lord's Presence, O my soul; all the slanderers and trouble-makers bark in vain.

ਜਨ ਨਾਨਕ ਨਾਮੁ ਧਿਆਇਆ ਮੇਰੀ ਜਿੰਦੁੜੀਏ ਧੁਰਿ ਮਸਤਕਿ ਹਰਿ ਲਿਖਿ ਛਡਾ ਰਾਮ ॥੪॥੫॥

जन नानक नामु धिआइआ मेरी जिंदुड़ीए धुरि मसतकि हरि लिखि छडा राम ॥४॥५॥

Jan naanak naamu dhiaaiaa meree jinddu(rr)eee dhuri masataki hari likhi chhadaa raam ||4||5||

Servant Nanak has meditated on the Name, O my soul; such is the pre-ordained destiny which the Lord written on his forehead. ||4||5||

सभि जीअ तेरे तूं वरतदा मेरे हरि प्रभ तूं जाणहि जो जीइ कमाईऐ राम ॥

Sabhi jeea tere toonn varatadaa mere hari prbh toonn jaa(nn)ahi jo jeei kamaaeeai raam ||

All beings are Yours - You permeate them all. O my Lord God, You know what they do in their hearts.

ਹਰਿ ਅੰਤਰਿ ਬਾਹਰਿ ਨਾਲਿ ਹੈ ਮੇਰੀ ਜਿੰਦੁੜੀਏ ਸਭ ਵੇਖੈ ਮਨਿ ਮੁਕਰਾਈਐ ਰਾਮ ॥

हरि अंतरि बाहरि नालि है मेरी जिंदुड़ीए सभ वेखै मनि मुकराईऐ राम ॥

Hari anttari baahari naali hai meree jinddu(rr)eee sabh vekhai mani mukaraaeeai raam ||

The Lord is with them, inwardly and outwardly, O my soul; He sees everything, but the mortal denies the Lord in his mind.

ਮਨਮੁਖਾ ਨੋ ਹਰਿ ਦੂਰਿ ਹੈ ਮੇਰੀ ਜਿੰਦੁੜੀਏ ਸਭ ਬਿਰਥੀ ਘਾਲ ਗਵਾਈਐ ਰਾਮ ॥

मनमुखा नो हरि दूरि है मेरी जिंदुड़ीए सभ बिरथी घाल गवाईऐ राम ॥

Manamukhaa no hari doori hai meree jinddu(rr)eee sabh birathee ghaal gavaaeeai raam ||

The Lord is far away from the self-willed manmukhs, O my soul; all their efforts are in vain.

ਜਨ ਨਾਨਕ ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿ ਧਿਆਇਆ ਮੇਰੀ ਜਿੰਦੁੜੀਏ ਹਰਿ ਹਾਜਰੁ ਨਦਰੀ ਆਈਐ ਰਾਮ ॥੧॥

जन नानक गुरमुखि धिआइआ मेरी जिंदुड़ीए हरि हाजरु नदरी आईऐ राम ॥१॥

Jan naanak guramukhi dhiaaiaa meree jinddu(rr)eee hari haajaru nadaree aaeeai raam ||1||

Servant Nanak, as Gurmukh, meditates on the Lord, O my soul; he beholds the Lord ever-present. ||1||


ਸੇ ਭਗਤ ਸੇ ਸੇਵਕ ਮੇਰੀ ਜਿੰਦੁੜੀਏ ਜੋ ਪ੍ਰਭ ਮੇਰੇ ਮਨਿ ਭਾਣੇ ਰਾਮ ॥

से भगत से सेवक मेरी जिंदुड़ीए जो प्रभ मेरे मनि भाणे राम ॥

Se bhagat se sevak meree jinddu(rr)eee jo prbh mere mani bhaa(nn)e raam ||

They are devotees, and they are servants, O my soul, who are pleasing to the Mind of my God.

ਸੇ ਹਰਿ ਦਰਗਹ ਪੈਨਾਇਆ ਮੇਰੀ ਜਿੰਦੁੜੀਏ ਅਹਿਨਿਸਿ ਸਾਚਿ ਸਮਾਣੇ ਰਾਮ ॥

से हरि दरगह पैनाइआ मेरी जिंदुड़ीए अहिनिसि साचि समाणे राम ॥

Se hari daragah painaaiaa meree jinddu(rr)eee ahinisi saachi samaa(nn)e raam ||

They are robed in honor in the Court of the Lord, O my soul; night and day, they remain absorbed in the True Lord.

ਤਿਨ ਕੈ ਸੰਗਿ ਮਲੁ ਉਤਰੈ ਮੇਰੀ ਜਿੰਦੁੜੀਏ ਰੰਗਿ ਰਾਤੇ ਨਦਰਿ ਨੀਸਾਣੇ ਰਾਮ ॥

तिन कै संगि मलु उतरै मेरी जिंदुड़ीए रंगि राते नदरि नीसाणे राम ॥

Tin kai sanggi malu utarai meree jinddu(rr)eee ranggi raate nadari neesaa(nn)e raam ||

In their company, the filth of one's sins is washed away, O my soul; imbued with the Lord's Love, one comes to bear the Mark of His Grace.

ਨਾਨਕ ਕੀ ਪ੍ਰਭ ਬੇਨਤੀ ਮੇਰੀ ਜਿੰਦੁੜੀਏ ਮਿਲਿ ਸਾਧੂ ਸੰਗਿ ਅਘਾਣੇ ਰਾਮ ॥੨॥

नानक की प्रभ बेनती मेरी जिंदुड़ीए मिलि साधू संगि अघाणे राम ॥२॥

Naanak kee prbh benatee meree jinddu(rr)eee mili saadhoo sanggi aghaa(nn)e raam ||2||

Nanak offers his prayer to God, O my soul; joining the Saadh Sangat, the Company of the Holy, he is satisfied. ||2||


ਹੇ ਰਸਨਾ ਜਪਿ ਗੋਬਿੰਦੋ ਮੇਰੀ ਜਿੰਦੁੜੀਏ ਜਪਿ ਹਰਿ ਹਰਿ ਤ੍ਰਿਸਨਾ ਜਾਏ ਰਾਮ ॥

हे रसना जपि गोबिंदो मेरी जिंदुड़ीए जपि हरि हरि त्रिसना जाए राम ॥

He rasanaa japi gobinddo meree jinddu(rr)eee japi hari hari trisanaa jaae raam ||

O tongue, chant the Name of God; O my soul, chanting the Name of the Lord, Har, Har, your desires shall be extinguished.

ਜਿਸੁ ਦਇਆ ਕਰੇ ਮੇਰਾ ਪਾਰਬ੍ਰਹਮੁ ਮੇਰੀ ਜਿੰਦੁੜੀਏ ਤਿਸੁ ਮਨਿ ਨਾਮੁ ਵਸਾਏ ਰਾਮ ॥

जिसु दइआ करे मेरा पारब्रहमु मेरी जिंदुड़ीए तिसु मनि नामु वसाए राम ॥

Jisu daiaa kare meraa paarabrhamu meree jinddu(rr)eee tisu mani naamu vasaae raam ||

He, unto whom my Supreme Lord God shows Mercy, O my soul, enshrines the Name in his mind.

ਜਿਸੁ ਭੇਟੇ ਪੂਰਾ ਸਤਿਗੁਰੂ ਮੇਰੀ ਜਿੰਦੁੜੀਏ ਸੋ ਹਰਿ ਧਨੁ ਨਿਧਿ ਪਾਏ ਰਾਮ ॥

जिसु भेटे पूरा सतिगुरू मेरी जिंदुड़ीए सो हरि धनु निधि पाए राम ॥

Jisu bhete pooraa satiguroo meree jinddu(rr)eee so hari dhanu nidhi paae raam ||

One who meets the Perfect True Guru, O my soul, obtains the treasure of the Lord's wealth.

ਵਡਭਾਗੀ ਸੰਗਤਿ ਮਿਲੈ ਮੇਰੀ ਜਿੰਦੁੜੀਏ ਨਾਨਕ ਹਰਿ ਗੁਣ ਗਾਏ ਰਾਮ ॥੩॥

वडभागी संगति मिलै मेरी जिंदुड़ीए नानक हरि गुण गाए राम ॥३॥

Vadabhaagee sanggati milai meree jinddu(rr)eee naanak hari gu(nn) gaae raam ||3||

By great good fortune, one joins the Company of the Holy, O my soul. O Nanak, sing the Glorious Praises of the Lord. ||3||


ਥਾਨ ਥਨੰਤਰਿ ਰਵਿ ਰਹਿਆ ਮੇਰੀ ਜਿੰਦੁੜੀਏ ਪਾਰਬ੍ਰਹਮੁ ਪ੍ਰਭੁ ਦਾਤਾ ਰਾਮ ॥

थान थनंतरि रवि रहिआ मेरी जिंदुड़ीए पारब्रहमु प्रभु दाता राम ॥

Thaan thananttari ravi rahiaa meree jinddu(rr)eee paarabrhamu prbhu daataa raam ||

In the places and interspaces, O my soul, the Supreme Lord God, the Great Giver, is pervading.

ਤਾ ਕਾ ਅੰਤੁ ਨ ਪਾਈਐ ਮੇਰੀ ਜਿੰਦੁੜੀਏ ਪੂਰਨ ਪੁਰਖੁ ਬਿਧਾਤਾ ਰਾਮ ॥

ता का अंतु न पाईऐ मेरी जिंदुड़ीए पूरन पुरखु बिधाता राम ॥

Taa kaa anttu na paaeeai meree jinddu(rr)eee pooran purakhu bidhaataa raam ||

His limits cannot be found, O my soul; He is the Perfect Architect of Destiny.

सरब जीआ प्रतिपालदा मेरी जिंदुड़ीए जिउ बालक पित माता राम ॥

Sarab jeeaa prtipaaladaa meree jinddu(rr)eee jiu baalak pit maataa raam ||

He cherishes all beings, O my soul, as the mother and father cherish their child.

ਸਹਸ ਸਿਆਣਪ ਨਹ ਮਿਲੈ ਮੇਰੀ ਜਿੰਦੁੜੀਏ ਜਨ ਨਾਨਕ ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿ ਜਾਤਾ ਰਾਮ ॥੪॥੬॥ ਛਕਾ ੧ ॥

सहस सिआणप नह मिलै मेरी जिंदुड़ीए जन नानक गुरमुखि जाता राम ॥४॥६॥ छका १ ॥

Sahas siaa(nn)ap nah milai meree jinddu(rr)eee jan naanak guramukhi jaataa raam ||4||6|| chhakaa 1 ||

By thousands of clever tricks, He cannot be obtained, O my soul; servant Nanak, as Gurmukh, has come to know the Lord. ||4||6|| Chhakaa 1.||

सभ तेरी तू सभस दा सभ तुधु उपाइआ ॥

Sabh teree too sabhas daa sabh tudhu upaaiaa ||

All are Yours, and You belong to all. You created all.

ਸਭਨਾ ਵਿਚਿ ਤੂ ਵਰਤਦਾ ਤੂ ਸਭਨੀ ਧਿਆਇਆ ॥

सभना विचि तू वरतदा तू सभनी धिआइआ ॥

Sabhanaa vichi too varatadaa too sabhanee dhiaaiaa ||

You are pervading within all - all meditate on You.

ਤਿਸ ਦੀ ਤੂ ਭਗਤਿ ਥਾਇ ਪਾਇਹਿ ਜੋ ਤੁਧੁ ਮਨਿ ਭਾਇਆ ॥

तिस दी तू भगति थाइ पाइहि जो तुधु मनि भाइआ ॥

Tis dee too bhagati thaai paaihi jo tudhu mani bhaaiaa ||

You accept the devotional worship of those who are pleasing to Your Mind.

ਜੋ ਹਰਿ ਪ੍ਰਭ ਭਾਵੈ ਸੋ ਥੀਐ ਸਭਿ ਕਰਨਿ ਤੇਰਾ ਕਰਾਇਆ ॥

जो हरि प्रभ भावै सो थीऐ सभि करनि तेरा कराइआ ॥

Jo hari prbh bhaavai so theeai sabhi karani teraa karaaiaa ||

Whatever pleases the Lord God happens; all act as You cause them to act.

ਸਲਾਹਿਹੁ ਹਰਿ ਸਭਨਾ ਤੇ ਵਡਾ ਜੋ ਸੰਤ ਜਨਾਂ ਕੀ ਪੈਜ ਰਖਦਾ ਆਇਆ ॥੧॥

सलाहिहु हरि सभना ते वडा जो संत जनां की पैज रखदा आइआ ॥१॥

Salaahihu hari sabhanaa te vadaa jo santt janaan kee paij rakhadaa aaiaa ||1||

Praise the Lord, the greatest of all; He preserves the honor of the Saints. ||1||

ਜੀਅ ਜੰਤ ਸਭਿ ਤੇਰਿਆ ਤੂ ਸਭਨਾ ਰਾਸਿ ॥

Jeea jantt sabhi teriaa too sabhanaa raasi ||

All beings are Yours; You are the wealth of all.

ਜਿਸ ਨੋ ਤੂ ਦੇਹਿ ਤਿਸੁ ਸਭੁ ਕਿਛੁ ਮਿਲੈ ਕੋਈ ਹੋਰੁ ਸਰੀਕੁ ਨਾਹੀ ਤੁਧੁ ਪਾਸਿ ॥

जिस नो तू देहि तिसु सभु किछु मिलै कोई होरु सरीकु नाही तुधु पासि ॥

Jis no too dehi tisu sabhu kichhu milai koee horu sareeku naahee tudhu paasi ||

One unto whom You give, obtains everything; there is no one else to rival You.

ਤੂ ਇਕੋ ਦਾਤਾ ਸਭਸ ਦਾ ਹਰਿ ਪਹਿ ਅਰਦਾਸਿ ॥

तू इको दाता सभस दा हरि पहि अरदासि ॥

Too iko daataa sabhas daa hari pahi aradaasi ||

You alone are the Great Giver of all; I offer my prayer unto You, Lord.

ਜਿਸ ਦੀ ਤੁਧੁ ਭਾਵੈ ਤਿਸ ਦੀ ਤੂ ਮੰਨਿ ਲੈਹਿ ਸੋ ਜਨੁ ਸਾਬਾਸਿ ॥

जिस दी तुधु भावै तिस दी तू मंनि लैहि सो जनु साबासि ॥

Jis dee tudhu bhaavai tis dee too manni laihi so janu saabaasi ||

One with whom You are pleased, is accepted by You; how blessed is such a person!

ਸਭੁ ਤੇਰਾ ਚੋਜੁ ਵਰਤਦਾ ਦੁਖੁ ਸੁਖੁ ਤੁਧੁ ਪਾਸਿ ॥੨॥

सभु तेरा चोजु वरतदा दुखु सुखु तुधु पासि ॥२॥

Sabhu teraa choju varatadaa dukhu sukhu tudhu paasi ||2||

Your wondrous play is pervading everywhere. I place my pain and pleasure before You. ||2||

ਤੇਰੀ ਵਡਿਆਈ ਤੂਹੈ ਜਾਣਦਾ ਤੁਧੁ ਜੇਵਡੁ ਅਵਰੁ ਨ ਕੋਈ ॥

तेरी वडिआई तूहै जाणदा तुधु जेवडु अवरु न कोई ॥

Teree vadiaaee toohai jaa(nn)adaa tudhu jevadu avaru na koee ||

You alone know Your greatness - no one else is as great as You.

ਤੁਧੁ ਜੇਵਡੁ ਹੋਰੁ ਸਰੀਕੁ ਹੋਵੈ ਤਾ ਆਖੀਐ ਤੁਧੁ ਜੇਵਡੁ ਤੂਹੈ ਹੋਈ ॥

तुधु जेवडु होरु सरीकु होवै ता आखीऐ तुधु जेवडु तूहै होई ॥

Tudhu jevadu horu sareeku hovai taa aakheeai tudhu jevadu toohai hoee ||

If there were some other rival as great as You, then I would speak of him. You alone are as great as You are.

ਜਿਨਿ ਤੂ ਸੇਵਿਆ ਤਿਨਿ ਸੁਖੁ ਪਾਇਆ ਹੋਰੁ ਤਿਸ ਦੀ ਰੀਸ ਕਰੇ ਕਿਆ ਕੋਈ ॥

जिनि तू सेविआ तिनि सुखु पाइआ होरु तिस दी रीस करे किआ कोई ॥

Jini too seviaa tini sukhu paaiaa horu tis dee rees kare kiaa koee ||

One who serves You obtains peace; who else can compare to You?

ਤੂ ਭੰਨਣ ਘੜਣ ਸਮਰਥੁ ਦਾਤਾਰੁ ਹਹਿ ਤੁਧੁ ਅਗੈ ਮੰਗਣ ਨੋ ਹਥ ਜੋੜਿ ਖਲੀ ਸਭ ਹੋਈ ॥

तू भंनण घड़ण समरथु दातारु हहि तुधु अगै मंगण नो हथ जोड़ि खली सभ होई ॥

Too bhanna(nn) gha(rr)a(nn) samarathu daataaru hahi tudhu agai mangga(nn) no hath jo(rr)i khalee sabh hoee ||

You are all-powerful to destroy and create, O Great Giver; with palms pressed together, all stand begging before You.

ਤੁਧੁ ਜੇਵਡੁ ਦਾਤਾਰੁ ਮੈ ਕੋਈ ਨਦਰਿ ਨ ਆਵਈ ਤੁਧੁ ਸਭਸੈ ਨੋ ਦਾਨੁ ਦਿਤਾ ਖੰਡੀ ਵਰਭੰਡੀ ਪਾਤਾਲੀ ਪੁਰਈ ਸਭ ਲੋਈ ॥੩॥

तुधु जेवडु दातारु मै कोई नदरि न आवई तुधु सभसै नो दानु दिता खंडी वरभंडी पाताली पुरई सभ लोई ॥३॥

Tudhu jevadu daataaru mai koee nadari na aavaee tudhu sabhasai no daanu ditaa khanddee varabhanddee paataalee puraee sabh loee ||3||

I see none as great as You, O Great Giver; You give in charity to the beings of all the continents, worlds, solar systems, nether regions and universes. ||3||

ਜਿਸ ਦੈ ਚਿਤਿ ਵਸਿਆ ਮੇਰਾ ਸੁਆਮੀ ਤਿਸ ਨੋ ਕਿਉ ਅੰਦੇਸਾ ਕਿਸੈ ਗਲੈ ਦਾ ਲੋੜੀਐ ॥

जिस दै चिति वसिआ मेरा सुआमी तिस नो किउ अंदेसा किसै गलै दा लोड़ीऐ ॥

Jis dai chiti vasiaa meraa suaamee tis no kiu anddesaa kisai galai daa lo(rr)eeai ||

One whose consciousness is filled with my Lord Master - why should he feel anxious about anything?

ਹਰਿ ਸੁਖਦਾਤਾ ਸਭਨਾ ਗਲਾ ਕਾ ਤਿਸ ਨੋ ਧਿਆਇਦਿਆ ਕਿਵ ਨਿਮਖ ਘੜੀ ਮੁਹੁ ਮੋੜੀਐ ॥

हरि सुखदाता सभना गला का तिस नो धिआइदिआ किव निमख घड़ी मुहु मोड़ीऐ ॥

Hari sukhadaataa sabhanaa galaa kaa tis no dhiaaidiaa kiv nimakh gha(rr)ee muhu mo(rr)eeai ||

The Lord is the Giver of Peace, the Lord of all things; why would we turn our faces away from His meditation, even for a moment, or an instant?

ਜਿਨਿ ਹਰਿ ਧਿਆਇਆ ਤਿਸ ਨੋ ਸਰਬ ਕਲਿਆਣ ਹੋਏ ਨਿਤ ਸੰਤ ਜਨਾ ਕੀ ਸੰਗਤਿ ਜਾਇ ਬਹੀਐ ਮੁਹੁ ਜੋੜੀਐ ॥

जिनि हरि धिआइआ तिस नो सरब कलिआण होए नित संत जना की संगति जाइ बहीऐ मुहु जोड़ीऐ ॥

Jini hari dhiaaiaa tis no sarab kaliaa(nn) hoe nit santt janaa kee sanggati jaai baheeai muhu jo(rr)eeai ||

One who meditates on the Lord obtains all pleasures and comforts; let us go each and every day, to sit in the Saints' Society.

ਸਭਿ ਦੁਖ ਭੁਖ ਰੋਗ ਗਏ ਹਰਿ ਸੇਵਕ ਕੇ ਸਭਿ ਜਨ ਕੇ ਬੰਧਨ ਤੋੜੀਐ ॥

सभि दुख भुख रोग गए हरि सेवक के सभि जन के बंधन तोड़ीऐ ॥

Sabhi dukh bhukh rog gae hari sevak ke sabhi jan ke banddhan to(rr)eeai ||

All the pain, hunger, and disease of the Lord's servant are eradicated; the bonds of the humble beings are torn away.

ਹਰਿ ਕਿਰਪਾ ਤੇ ਹੋਆ ਹਰਿ ਭਗਤੁ ਹਰਿ ਭਗਤ ਜਨਾ ਕੈ ਮੁਹਿ ਡਿਠੈ ਜਗਤੁ ਤਰਿਆ ਸਭੁ ਲੋੜੀਐ ॥੪॥

हरि किरपा ते होआ हरि भगतु हरि भगत जना कै मुहि डिठै जगतु तरिआ सभु लोड़ीऐ ॥४॥

Hari kirapaa te hoaa hari bhagatu hari bhagat janaa kai muhi dithai jagatu tariaa sabhu lo(rr)eeai ||4||

By the Lord's Grace, one becomes the Lord's devotee; beholding the face of the Lord's humble devotee, the whole world is saved and carried across. ||4||

ਹਰਿ ਆਪੇ ਠਾਕੁਰੁ ਸੇਵਕੁ ਭਗਤੁ ਹਰਿ ਆਪੇ ਕਰੇ ਕਰਾਏ ॥

हरि आपे ठाकुरु सेवकु भगतु हरि आपे करे कराए ॥

Hari aape thaakuru sevaku bhagatu hari aape kare karaae ||

The Lord Himself is the Master, the servant and the devotee; the Lord Himself is the Cause of causes.

ਹਰਿ ਆਪੇ ਵੇਖੈ ਵਿਗਸੈ ਆਪੇ ਜਿਤੁ ਭਾਵੈ ਤਿਤੁ ਲਾਏ ॥

हरि आपे वेखै विगसै आपे जितु भावै तितु लाए ॥

Hari aape vekhai vigasai aape jitu bhaavai titu laae ||

The Lord Himself beholds, and He Himself rejoices. As He wills, so does He enjoin us.

ਹਰਿ ਇਕਨਾ ਮਾਰਗਿ ਪਾਏ ਆਪੇ ਹਰਿ ਇਕਨਾ ਉਝੜਿ ਪਾਏ ॥

हरि इकना मारगि पाए आपे हरि इकना उझड़ि पाए ॥

Hari ikanaa maaragi paae aape hari ikanaa ujha(rr)i paae ||

The Lord places some on the Path, and the Lord leads others into the wilderness.

ਹਰਿ ਸਚਾ ਸਾਹਿਬੁ ਸਚੁ ਤਪਾਵਸੁ ਕਰਿ ਵੇਖੈ ਚਲਤ ਸਬਾਏ ॥

हरि सचा साहिबु सचु तपावसु करि वेखै चलत सबाए ॥

Hari sachaa saahibu sachu tapaavasu kari vekhai chalat sabaae ||

The Lord is the True Master; True is His justice. He arranges and beholds all His plays.

ਗੁਰ ਪਰਸਾਦਿ ਕਹੈ ਜਨੁ ਨਾਨਕੁ ਹਰਿ ਸਚੇ ਕੇ ਗੁਣ ਗਾਏ ॥੫॥

गुर परसादि कहै जनु नानकु हरि सचे के गुण गाए ॥५॥

Gur parasaadi kahai janu naanaku hari sache ke gu(nn) gaae ||5||

By Guru's Grace, servant Nanak speaks and sings the Glorious Praises of the True Lord. ||5||

ਆਪੇ ਧਰਤੀ ਆਪੇ ਹੈ ਰਾਹਕੁ ਆਪਿ ਜੰਮਾਇ ਪੀਸਾਵੈ ॥

आपे धरती आपे है राहकु आपि जमाइ पीसावै ॥

Aape dharatee aape hai raahaku aapi jammaai peesaavai ||

He Himself is the field, and He Himself is the farmer. He Himself grows and grinds the corn.

ਆਪਿ ਪਕਾਵੈ ਆਪਿ ਭਾਂਡੇ ਦੇਇ ਪਰੋਸੈ ਆਪੇ ਹੀ ਬਹਿ ਖਾਵੈ ॥

आपि पकावै आपि भांडे देइ परोसै आपे ही बहि खावै ॥

Aapi pakaavai aapi bhaande dei parosai aape hee bahi khaavai ||

He Himself cooks it, He Himself puts the food in the dishes, and He Himself sits down to eat.

ਆਪੇ ਜਲੁ ਆਪੇ ਦੇ ਛਿੰਗਾ ਆਪੇ ਚੁਲੀ ਭਰਾਵੈ ॥

आपे जलु आपे दे छिंगा आपे चुली भरावै ॥

Aape jalu aape de chhinggaa aape chulee bharaavai ||

He Himself is the water, He Himself gives the tooth-pick, and He Himself offers the mouthwash.

ਆਪੇ ਸੰਗਤਿ ਸਦਿ ਬਹਾਲੈ ਆਪੇ ਵਿਦਾ ਕਰਾਵੈ ॥

आपे संगति सदि बहालै आपे विदा करावै ॥

Aape sanggati sadi bahaalai aape vidaa karaavai ||

He Himself calls and seats the congregation, and He Himself bids them goodbye.

ਜਿਸ ਨੋ ਕਿਰਪਾਲੁ ਹੋਵੈ ਹਰਿ ਆਪੇ ਤਿਸ ਨੋ ਹੁਕਮੁ ਮਨਾਵੈ ॥੬॥

जिस नो किरपालु होवै हरि आपे तिस नो हुकमु मनावै ॥६॥

Jis no kirapaalu hovai hari aape tis no hukamu manaavai ||6||

One whom the Lord Himself blesses with His Mercy - the Lord causes him to walk according to His Will. ||6||


ਮਃ ੪ ॥

मः ४ ॥

M:h 4 ||

Fourth Mehl:

ਅੰਧੇ ਚਾਨਣੁ ਤਾ ਥੀਐ ਜਾ ਸਤਿਗੁਰੁ ਮਿਲੈ ਰਜਾਇ ॥

अंधे चानणु ता थीऐ जा सतिगुरु मिलै रजाइ ॥

Anddhe chaana(nn)u taa theeai jaa satiguru milai rajaai ||

The blind receive the Divine Light, when they merge with the Will of the True Guru.

ਬੰਧਨ ਤੋੜੈ ਸਚਿ ਵਸੈ ਅਗਿਆਨੁ ਅਧੇਰਾ ਜਾਇ ॥

बंधन तोड़ै सचि वसै अगिआनु अधेरा जाइ ॥

Banddhan to(rr)ai sachi vasai agiaanu adheraa jaai ||

They break their bonds, and dwell in Truth, and the darkness of ignorance is dispelled.

ਸਭੁ ਕਿਛੁ ਦੇਖੈ ਤਿਸੈ ਕਾ ਜਿਨਿ ਕੀਆ ਤਨੁ ਸਾਜਿ ॥

सभु किछु देखै तिसै का जिनि कीआ तनु साजि ॥

Sabhu kichhu dekhai tisai kaa jini keeaa tanu saaji ||

They see that everything belongs to the One who created and fashioned the body.

ਨਾਨਕ ਸਰਣਿ ਕਰਤਾਰ ਕੀ ਕਰਤਾ ਰਾਖੈ ਲਾਜ ॥੨॥

नानक सरणि करतार की करता राखै लाज ॥२॥

Naanak sara(nn)i karataar kee karataa raakhai laaj ||2||

Nanak seeks the Sanctuary of the Creator - the Creator preserves his honor. ||2||

ਜਦਹੁ ਆਪੇ ਥਾਟੁ ਕੀਆ ਬਹਿ ਕਰਤੈ ਤਦਹੁ ਪੁਛਿ ਨ ਸੇਵਕੁ ਬੀਆ ॥

जदहु आपे थाटु कीआ बहि करतै तदहु पुछि न सेवकु बीआ ॥

Jadahu aape thaatu keeaa bahi karatai tadahu puchhi na sevaku beeaa ||

When the Creator, sitting all by Himself, created the Universe, he did not consult with any of His servants;

ਤਦਹੁ ਕਿਆ ਕੋ ਲੇਵੈ ਕਿਆ ਕੋ ਦੇਵੈ ਜਾਂ ਅਵਰੁ ਨ ਦੂਜਾ ਕੀਆ ॥

तदहु किआ को लेवै किआ को देवै जां अवरु न दूजा कीआ ॥

Tadahu kiaa ko levai kiaa ko devai jaan avaru na doojaa keeaa ||

So what can anyone take, and what can anyone give, when He did not create any other like Himself?

ਫਿਰਿ ਆਪੇ ਜਗਤੁ ਉਪਾਇਆ ਕਰਤੈ ਦਾਨੁ ਸਭਨਾ ਕਉ ਦੀਆ ॥

फिरि आपे जगतु उपाइआ करतै दानु सभना कउ दीआ ॥

Phiri aape jagatu upaaiaa karatai daanu sabhanaa kau deeaa ||

Then, after fashioning the world, the Creator blessed all with His blessings.

ਆਪੇ ਸੇਵ ਬਣਾਈਅਨੁ ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿ ਆਪੇ ਅੰਮ੍ਰਿਤੁ ਪੀਆ ॥

आपे सेव बणाईअनु गुरमुखि आपे अम्रितु पीआ ॥

Aape sev ba(nn)aaeeanu guramukhi aape ammmritu peeaa ||

He Himself instructs us in His service, and as Gurmukh, we drink in His Ambrosial Nectar.

ਆਪਿ ਨਿਰੰਕਾਰ ਆਕਾਰੁ ਹੈ ਆਪੇ ਆਪੇ ਕਰੈ ਸੁ ਥੀਆ ॥੭॥

आपि निरंकार आकारु है आपे आपे करै सु थीआ ॥७॥

Aapi nirankkaar aakaaru hai aape aape karai su theeaa ||7||

He Himself is formless, and He Himself is formed; whatever He Himself does, comes to pass. ||7||

ਆਪੇ ਵੇਦ ਪੁਰਾਣ ਸਭਿ ਸਾਸਤ ਆਪਿ ਕਥੈ ਆਪਿ ਭੀਜੈ ॥

आपे वेद पुराण सभि सासत आपि कथै आपि भीजै ॥

Aape ved puraa(nn) sabhi saasat aapi kathai aapi bheejai ||

He Himself is the Vedas, the Puraanas and all the Shaastras; He Himself chants them, and He Himself is pleased.

ਆਪੇ ਹੀ ਬਹਿ ਪੂਜੇ ਕਰਤਾ ਆਪਿ ਪਰਪੰਚੁ ਕਰੀਜੈ ॥

आपे ही बहि पूजे करता आपि परपंचु करीजै ॥

Aape hee bahi pooje karataa aapi parapancchu kareejai ||

He Himself sits down to worship, and He Himself creates the world.

ਆਪਿ ਪਰਵਿਰਤਿ ਆਪਿ ਨਿਰਵਿਰਤੀ ਆਪੇ ਅਕਥੁ ਕਥੀਜੈ ॥

आपि परविरति आपि निरविरती आपे अकथु कथीजै ॥

Aapi paravirati aapi niraviratee aape akathu katheejai ||

He Himself is a householder, and He Himself is a renunciate; He Himself utters the Unutterable.

ਆਪੇ ਪੁੰਨੁ ਸਭੁ ਆਪਿ ਕਰਾਏ ਆਪਿ ਅਲਿਪਤੁ ਵਰਤੀਜੈ ॥

आपे पुंनु सभु आपि कराए आपि अलिपतु वरतीजै ॥

Aape punnu sabhu aapi karaae aapi alipatu varateejai ||

He Himself is all goodness, and He Himself causes us to act; He Himself remains detached.

ਆਪੇ ਸੁਖੁ ਦੁਖੁ ਦੇਵੈ ਕਰਤਾ ਆਪੇ ਬਖਸ ਕਰੀਜੈ ॥੮॥

आपे सुखु दुखु देवै करता आपे बखस करीजै ॥८॥

Aape sukhu dukhu devai karataa aape bakhas kareejai ||8||

He Himself grants pleasure and pain; the Creator Himself bestows His gifts. ||8||

ਆਪੇ ਖਾਣੀ ਆਪੇ ਬਾਣੀ ਆਪੇ ਖੰਡ ਵਰਭੰਡ ਕਰੇ ॥

आपे खाणी आपे बाणी आपे खंड वरभंड करे ॥

Aape khaa(nn)ee aape baa(nn)ee aape khandd varabhandd kare ||

He Himself created the four sources of creation, and He Himself fashioned speech; He Himself formed the worlds and solar systems.

ਆਪਿ ਸਮੁੰਦੁ ਆਪਿ ਹੈ ਸਾਗਰੁ ਆਪੇ ਹੀ ਵਿਚਿ ਰਤਨ ਧਰੇ ॥

आपि समुंदु आपि है सागरु आपे ही विचि रतन धरे ॥

Aapi samunddu aapi hai saagaru aape hee vichi ratan dhare ||

He Himself is the ocean, and He Himself is the sea; He Himself puts the pearls in it.

ਆਪਿ ਲਹਾਏ ਕਰੇ ਜਿਸੁ ਕਿਰਪਾ ਜਿਸ ਨੋ ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿ ਕਰੇ ਹਰੇ ॥

आपि लहाए करे जिसु किरपा जिस नो गुरमुखि करे हरे ॥

Aapi lahaae kare jisu kirapaa jis no guramukhi kare hare ||

By His Grace, the Lord enables the Gurmukh to find these pearls.

ਆਪੇ ਭਉਜਲੁ ਆਪਿ ਹੈ ਬੋਹਿਥਾ ਆਪੇ ਖੇਵਟੁ ਆਪਿ ਤਰੇ ॥

आपे भउजलु आपि है बोहिथा आपे खेवटु आपि तरे ॥

Aape bhaujalu aapi hai bohithaa aape khevatu aapi tare ||

He Himself is the terrifying world-ocean, and He Himself is the boat; He Himself is the boatman, and He Himself ferries us across.

ਆਪੇ ਕਰੇ ਕਰਾਏ ਕਰਤਾ ਅਵਰੁ ਨ ਦੂਜਾ ਤੁਝੈ ਸਰੇ ॥੯॥

आपे करे कराए करता अवरु न दूजा तुझै सरे ॥९॥

Aape kare karaae karataa avaru na doojaa tujhai sare ||9||

The Creator Himself acts, and causes us to act; no one else can equal You, Lord. ||9||

ਆਪੇ ਪਾਰਸੁ ਆਪਿ ਧਾਤੁ ਹੈ ਆਪਿ ਕੀਤੋਨੁ ਕੰਚਨੁ ॥

आपे पारसु आपि धातु है आपि कीतोनु कंचनु ॥

Aape paarasu aapi dhaatu hai aapi keetonu kancchanu ||

He Himself is the Philosopher's Stone, He Himself is the metal, and He Himself is transformed into gold.

ਆਪੇ ਠਾਕੁਰੁ ਸੇਵਕੁ ਆਪੇ ਆਪੇ ਹੀ ਪਾਪ ਖੰਡਨੁ ॥

आपे ठाकुरु सेवकु आपे आपे ही पाप खंडनु ॥

Aape thaakuru sevaku aape aape hee paap khanddanu ||

He Himself is the Lord and Master, He Himself is the servant, and He Himself is the Destroyer of sins.

ਆਪੇ ਸਭਿ ਘਟ ਭੋਗਵੈ ਸੁਆਮੀ ਆਪੇ ਹੀ ਸਭੁ ਅੰਜਨੁ ॥

आपे सभि घट भोगवै सुआमी आपे ही सभु अंजनु ॥

Aape sabhi ghat bhogavai suaamee aape hee sabhu anjjanu ||

He Himself enjoys every heart; the Lord Master Himself is the basis of all illusion.

ਆਪਿ ਬਿਬੇਕੁ ਆਪਿ ਸਭੁ ਬੇਤਾ ਆਪੇ ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿ ਭੰਜਨੁ ॥

आपि बिबेकु आपि सभु बेता आपे गुरमुखि भंजनु ॥

Aapi bibeku aapi sabhu betaa aape guramukhi bhanjjanu ||

He Himself is the discerning one, and He Himself is the Knower of all; He Himself breaks the bonds of the Gurmukhs.

ਜਨੁ ਨਾਨਕੁ ਸਾਲਾਹਿ ਨ ਰਜੈ ਤੁਧੁ ਕਰਤੇ ਤੂ ਹਰਿ ਸੁਖਦਾਤਾ ਵਡਨੁ ॥੧੦॥

जनु नानकु सालाहि न रजै तुधु करते तू हरि सुखदाता वडनु ॥१०॥

Janu naanaku saalaahi na rajai tudhu karate too hari sukhadaataa vadanu ||10||

Servant Nanak is not satisfied by merely praising You, O Creator Lord; You are the Great Giver of peace. ||10||


ਸਲੋਕੁ ਮਃ ੪ ॥

Shalok, Fourth Mehl:

ਬਿਨੁ ਸਤਿਗੁਰ ਸੇਵੇ ਜੀਅ ਕੇ ਬੰਧਨਾ ਜੇਤੇ ਕਰਮ ਕਮਾਹਿ ॥

बिनु सतिगुर सेवे जीअ के बंधना जेते करम कमाहि ॥

Binu satigur seve jeea ke banddhanaa jete karam kamaahi ||

Without serving the True Guru, the deeds which are done are only chains binding the soul.

ਬਿਨੁ ਸਤਿਗੁਰ ਸੇਵੇ ਠਵਰ ਨ ਪਾਵਹੀ ਮਰਿ ਜੰਮਹਿ ਆਵਹਿ ਜਾਹਿ ॥

बिनु सतिगुर सेवे ठवर न पावही मरि जमहि आवहि जाहि ॥

Binu satigur seve thavar na paavahee mari jammahi aavahi jaahi ||

Without serving the True Guru, they find no place of rest. They die, only to be born again - they continue coming and going.

ਬਿਨੁ ਸਤਿਗੁਰ ਸੇਵੇ ਫਿਕਾ ਬੋਲਣਾ ਨਾਮੁ ਨ ਵਸੈ ਮਨਿ ਆਇ ॥

बिनु सतिगुर सेवे फिका बोलणा नामु न वसै मनि आइ ॥

Binu satigur seve phikaa bola(nn)aa naamu na vasai mani aai ||

Without serving the True Guru, their speech is insipid. They do not enshrine the Naam, the Name of the Lord, in the mind.

ਨਾਨਕ ਬਿਨੁ ਸਤਿਗੁਰ ਸੇਵੇ ਜਮ ਪੁਰਿ ਬਧੇ ਮਾਰੀਅਹਿ ਮੁਹਿ ਕਾਲੈ ਉਠਿ ਜਾਹਿ ॥੧॥

नानक बिनु सतिगुर सेवे जम पुरि बधे मारीअहि मुहि कालै उठि जाहि ॥१॥

Naanak binu satigur seve jam puri badhe maareeahi muhi kaalai uthi jaahi ||1||

O Nanak, without serving the True Guru, they are bound and gagged, and beaten in the City of Death; they depart with blackened faces. ||1||

ਆਪੇ ਚਾਟਸਾਲ ਆਪਿ ਹੈ ਪਾਧਾ ਆਪੇ ਚਾਟੜੇ ਪੜਣ ਕਉ ਆਣੇ ॥

आपे चाटसाल आपि है पाधा आपे चाटड़े पड़ण कउ आणे ॥

Aape chaatasaal aapi hai paadhaa aape chaata(rr)e pa(rr)a(nn) kau aa(nn)e ||

He Himself is the school, He Himself is the teacher, and He Himself brings the students to be taught.

ਆਪੇ ਪਿਤਾ ਮਾਤਾ ਹੈ ਆਪੇ ਆਪੇ ਬਾਲਕ ਕਰੇ ਸਿਆਣੇ ॥

आपे पिता माता है आपे आपे बालक करे सिआणे ॥

Aape pitaa maataa hai aape aape baalak kare siaa(nn)e ||

He Himself is the father, He Himself is the mother, and He Himself makes the children wise.

ਇਕ ਥੈ ਪੜਿ ਬੁਝੈ ਸਭੁ ਆਪੇ ਇਕ ਥੈ ਆਪੇ ਕਰੇ ਇਆਣੇ ॥

इक थै पड़ि बुझै सभु आपे इक थै आपे करे इआणे ॥

Ik thai pa(rr)i bujhai sabhu aape ik thai aape kare iaa(nn)e ||

In one place, He teaches them to read and understand everything, while in another place, He Himself makes them ignorant.

ਇਕਨਾ ਅੰਦਰਿ ਮਹਲਿ ਬੁਲਾਏ ਜਾ ਆਪਿ ਤੇਰੈ ਮਨਿ ਸਚੇ ਭਾਣੇ ॥

इकना अंदरि महलि बुलाए जा आपि तेरै मनि सचे भाणे ॥

Ikanaa anddari mahali bulaae jaa aapi terai mani sache bhaa(nn)e ||

Some, You summon to the Mansion of Your Presence within, when they are pleasing to Your Mind, O True Lord.

ਜਿਨਾ ਆਪੇ ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿ ਦੇ ਵਡਿਆਈ ਸੇ ਜਨ ਸਚੀ ਦਰਗਹਿ ਜਾਣੇ ॥੧੧॥

जिना आपे गुरमुखि दे वडिआई से जन सची दरगहि जाणे ॥११॥

Jinaa aape guramukhi de vadiaaee se jan sachee daragahi jaa(nn)e ||11||

That Gurmukh, whom You have blessed with greatness - that humble being is known in Your True Court. ||11||

ਆਪੇ ਸੁਰਿ ਨਰ ਗਣ ਗੰਧਰਬਾ ਆਪੇ ਖਟ ਦਰਸਨ ਕੀ ਬਾਣੀ ॥

आपे सुरि नर गण गंधरबा आपे खट दरसन की बाणी ॥

Aape suri nar ga(nn) ganddharabaa aape khat darasan kee baa(nn)ee ||

He Himself is the angelic being, the heavenly herald, and the celestial singer. He Himself is the one who explains the six schools of philosophy.

ਆਪੇ ਸਿਵ ਸੰਕਰ ਮਹੇਸਾ ਆਪੇ ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿ ਅਕਥ ਕਹਾਣੀ ॥

आपे सिव संकर महेसा आपे गुरमुखि अकथ कहाणी ॥

Aape siv sankkar mahesaa aape guramukhi akath kahaa(nn)ee ||

He Himself is Shiva, Shankara and Mahaysh; He Himself is the Gurmukh, who speaks the Unspoken Speech.

ਆਪੇ ਜੋਗੀ ਆਪੇ ਭੋਗੀ ਆਪੇ ਸੰਨਿਆਸੀ ਫਿਰੈ ਬਿਬਾਣੀ ॥

आपे जोगी आपे भोगी आपे संनिआसी फिरै बिबाणी ॥

Aape jogee aape bhogee aape sanniaasee phirai bibaa(nn)ee ||

He Himself is the Yogi, He Himself is the Sensual Enjoyer, and He Himself is the Sannyaasee, wandering through the wilderness.

ਆਪੈ ਨਾਲਿ ਗੋਸਟਿ ਆਪਿ ਉਪਦੇਸੈ ਆਪੇ ਸੁਘੜੁ ਸਰੂਪੁ ਸਿਆਣੀ ॥

आपै नालि गोसटि आपि उपदेसै आपे सुघड़ु सरूपु सिआणी ॥

Aapai naali gosati aapi upadesai aape sugha(rr)u saroopu siaa(nn)ee ||

He discusses with Himself, and He teaches Himself; He Himself is discrete, graceful and wise.

ਆਪਣਾ ਚੋਜੁ ਕਰਿ ਵੇਖੈ ਆਪੇ ਆਪੇ ਸਭਨਾ ਜੀਆ ਕਾ ਹੈ ਜਾਣੀ ॥੧੨॥

आपणा चोजु करि वेखै आपे आपे सभना जीआ का है जाणी ॥१२॥

Aapa(nn)aa choju kari vekhai aape aape sabhanaa jeeaa kaa hai jaa(nn)ee ||12||

Staging His own play, He Himself watches it; He Himself is the Knower of all beings. ||12||

आपे तंतु परम तंतु सभु आपे आपे ठाकुरु दासु भइआ ॥

Aape tanttu param tanttu sabhu aape aape thaakuru daasu bhaiaa ||

He Himself is the supreme essence, He Himself is the essence of all. He Himself is the Lord and Master, and He Himself is the servant.

ਆਪੇ ਦਸ ਅਠ ਵਰਨ ਉਪਾਇਅਨੁ ਆਪਿ ਬ੍ਰਹਮੁ ਆਪਿ ਰਾਜੁ ਲਇਆ ॥

आपे दस अठ वरन उपाइअनु आपि ब्रहमु आपि राजु लइआ ॥

Aape das ath varan upaaianu aapi brhamu aapi raaju laiaa ||

He Himself created the people of the eighteen castes; God Himself acquired His domain.

ਆਪੇ ਮਾਰੇ ਆਪੇ ਛੋਡੈ ਆਪੇ ਬਖਸੇ ਕਰੇ ਦਇਆ ॥

आपे मारे आपे छोडै आपे बखसे करे दइआ ॥

Aape maare aape chhodai aape bakhase kare daiaa ||

He Himself kills, and He Himself redeems; He Himself, in His Kindness, forgives us. He is infallible

ਆਪਿ ਅਭੁਲੁ ਨ ਭੁਲੈ ਕਬ ਹੀ ਸਭੁ ਸਚੁ ਤਪਾਵਸੁ ਸਚੁ ਥਿਆ ॥

आपि अभुलु न भुलै कब ही सभु सचु तपावसु सचु थिआ ॥

Aapi abhulu na bhulai kab hee sabhu sachu tapaavasu sachu thiaa ||

- He never errs; the justice of the True Lord is totally True.

ਆਪੇ ਜਿਨਾ ਬੁਝਾਏ ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿ ਤਿਨ ਅੰਦਰਹੁ ਦੂਜਾ ਭਰਮੁ ਗਇਆ ॥੧੩॥

आपे जिना बुझाए गुरमुखि तिन अंदरहु दूजा भरमु गइआ ॥१३॥

Aape jinaa bujhaae guramukhi tin anddarahu doojaa bharamu gaiaa ||13||

Those whom the Lord Himself instructs as Gurmukh - duality and doubt depart from within them. ||13||

ਆਪੇ ਅਠਸਠਿ ਤੀਰਥ ਕਰਤਾ ਆਪਿ ਕਰੇ ਇਸਨਾਨੁ ॥

आपे अठसठि तीरथ करता आपि करे इसनानु ॥

Aape athasathi teerath karataa aapi kare isanaanu ||

The Creator Himself is the sixty-eight sacred places of pilgrimage; He Himself takes the cleansing bath in them.

ਆਪੇ ਸੰਜਮਿ ਵਰਤੈ ਸ੍ਵਾਮੀ ਆਪਿ ਜਪਾਇਹਿ ਨਾਮੁ ॥

आपे संजमि वरतै स्वामी आपि जपाइहि नामु ॥

Aape sanjjami varatai svaamee aapi japaaihi naamu ||

He Himself practices austere self-discipline; the Lord Master Himself causes us to chant His Name.

ਆਪਿ ਦਇਆਲੁ ਹੋਇ ਭਉ ਖੰਡਨੁ ਆਪਿ ਕਰੈ ਸਭੁ ਦਾਨੁ ॥

आपि दइआलु होइ भउ खंडनु आपि करै सभु दानु ॥

Aapi daiaalu hoi bhau khanddanu aapi karai sabhu daanu ||

He Himself becomes merciful to us; the Destroyer of fear Himself gives in charity to all.

ਜਿਸ ਨੋ ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿ ਆਪਿ ਬੁਝਾਏ ਸੋ ਸਦ ਹੀ ਦਰਗਹਿ ਪਾਏ ਮਾਨੁ ॥

जिस नो गुरमुखि आपि बुझाए सो सद ही दरगहि पाए मानु ॥

Jis no guramukhi aapi bujhaae so sad hee daragahi paae maanu ||

One whom He has enlightened and made Gurmukh, ever obtains honor in His Court.

ਜਿਸ ਦੀ ਪੈਜ ਰਖੈ ਹਰਿ ਸੁਆਮੀ ਸੋ ਸਚਾ ਹਰਿ ਜਾਨੁ ॥੧੪॥

जिस दी पैज रखै हरि सुआमी सो सचा हरि जानु ॥१४॥

Jis dee paij rakhai hari suaamee so sachaa hari jaanu ||14||

One whose honor the Lord Master has preserved, comes to know the True Lord. ||14||

ਆਪੇ ਭਾਰ ਅਠਾਰਹ ਬਣਸਪਤਿ ਆਪੇ ਹੀ ਫਲ ਲਾਏ ॥

Aape bhaar athaarah ba(nn)asapati aape hee phal laae ||

He Himself is the vast variety of Nature, and He Himself makes it bear fruit.

ਆਪੇ ਮਾਲੀ ਆਪਿ ਸਭੁ ਸਿੰਚੈ ਆਪੇ ਹੀ ਮੁਹਿ ਪਾਏ ॥

आपे माली आपि सभु सिंचै आपे ही मुहि पाए ॥

Aape maalee aapi sabhu sincchai aape hee muhi paae ||

He Himself is the Gardener, He Himself irrigates all the plants, and He Himself puts them in His mouth.

ਆਪੇ ਕਰਤਾ ਆਪੇ ਭੁਗਤਾ ਆਪੇ ਦੇਇ ਦਿਵਾਏ ॥

आपे करता आपे भुगता आपे देइ दिवाए ॥

Aape karataa aape bhugataa aape dei divaae ||

He Himself is the Creator, and He Himself is the Enjoyer; He Himself gives, and causes others to give.

ਆਪੇ ਸਾਹਿਬੁ ਆਪੇ ਹੈ ਰਾਖਾ ਆਪੇ ਰਹਿਆ ਸਮਾਏ ॥

आपे साहिबु आपे है राखा आपे रहिआ समाए ॥

Aape saahibu aape hai raakhaa aape rahiaa samaae ||

He Himself is the Lord and Master, and He Himself is the Protector; He Himself is permeating and pervading everywhere.

ਜਨੁ ਨਾਨਕ ਵਡਿਆਈ ਆਖੈ ਹਰਿ ਕਰਤੇ ਕੀ ਜਿਸ ਨੋ ਤਿਲੁ ਨ ਤਮਾਏ ॥੧੫॥

जनु नानक वडिआई आखै हरि करते की जिस नो तिलु न तमाए ॥१५॥

Janu naanak vadiaaee aakhai hari karate kee jis no tilu na tamaae ||15||

Servant Nanak speaks of the greatness of the Lord, the Creator, who has no greed at all. ||15||

ਜਿਸ ਦਾ ਕੀਤਾ ਸਭੁ ਕਿਛੁ ਹੋਵੈ ਤਿਸ ਨੋ ਪਰਵਾਹ ਨਾਹੀ ਕਿਸੈ ਕੇਰੀ ॥

जिस दा कीता सभु किछु होवै तिस नो परवाह नाही किसै केरी ॥

Jis daa keetaa sabhu kichhu hovai tis no paravaah naahee kisai keree ||

By His doing, everything happens; what does He care for anyone else?

ਹਰਿ ਜੀਉ ਤੇਰਾ ਦਿਤਾ ਸਭੁ ਕੋ ਖਾਵੈ ਸਭ ਮੁਹਤਾਜੀ ਕਢੈ ਤੇਰੀ ॥

हरि जीउ तेरा दिता सभु को खावै सभ मुहताजी कढै तेरी ॥

Hari jeeu teraa ditaa sabhu ko khaavai sabh muhataajee kadhai teree ||

O Dear Lord, everyone eats whatever You give - all are subservient to You.

ਜਿ ਤੁਧ ਨੋ ਸਾਲਾਹੇ ਸੁ ਸਭੁ ਕਿਛੁ ਪਾਵੈ ਜਿਸ ਨੋ ਕਿਰਪਾ ਨਿਰੰਜਨ ਕੇਰੀ ॥

जि तुध नो सालाहे सु सभु किछु पावै जिस नो किरपा निरंजन केरी ॥

Ji tudh no saalaahe su sabhu kichhu paavai jis no kirapaa niranjjan keree ||

One who praises You obtains everything; You bestow Your Mercy upon him, O Immaculate Lord.

ਸੋਈ ਸਾਹੁ ਸਚਾ ਵਣਜਾਰਾ ਜਿਨਿ ਵਖਰੁ ਲਦਿਆ ਹਰਿ ਨਾਮੁ ਧਨੁ ਤੇਰੀ ॥

सोई साहु सचा वणजारा जिनि वखरु लदिआ हरि नामु धनु तेरी ॥

Soee saahu sachaa va(nn)ajaaraa jini vakharu ladiaa hari naamu dhanu teree ||

He alone is a true banker and trader, who loads the merchandise of the wealth of the Your Name, O Lord.

ਸਭਿ ਤਿਸੈ ਨੋ ਸਾਲਾਹਿਹੁ ਸੰਤਹੁ ਜਿਨਿ ਦੂਜੇ ਭਾਵ ਕੀ ਮਾਰਿ ਵਿਡਾਰੀ ਢੇਰੀ ॥੧੬॥

सभि तिसै नो सालाहिहु संतहु जिनि दूजे भाव की मारि विडारी ढेरी ॥१६॥

Sabhi tisai no saalaahihu santtahu jini dooje bhaav kee maari vidaaree dheree ||16||

O Saints, let everyone praise the Lord, who has destroyed the pile of the love of duality. ||16||

ਜਾ ਆਪਿ ਕ੍ਰਿਪਾਲੁ ਹੋਵੈ ਹਰਿ ਸੁਆਮੀ ਤਾ ਆਪਣਾਂ ਨਾਉ ਹਰਿ ਆਪਿ ਜਪਾਵੈ ॥

जा आपि क्रिपालु होवै हरि सुआमी ता आपणां नाउ हरि आपि जपावै ॥

Jaa aapi kripaalu hovai hari suaamee taa aapa(nn)aan naau hari aapi japaavai ||

When the Lord Master Himself becomes merciful, the Lord Himself causes His Name to be chanted.

ਆਪੇ ਸਤਿਗੁਰੁ ਮੇਲਿ ਸੁਖੁ ਦੇਵੈ ਆਪਣਾਂ ਸੇਵਕੁ ਆਪਿ ਹਰਿ ਭਾਵੈ ॥

आपे सतिगुरु मेलि सुखु देवै आपणां सेवकु आपि हरि भावै ॥

Aape satiguru meli sukhu devai aapa(nn)aan sevaku aapi hari bhaavai ||

He Himself causes us to meet the True Guru, and blesses us with peace. His servant is pleasing to the Lord.

ਆਪਣਿਆ ਸੇਵਕਾ ਕੀ ਆਪਿ ਪੈਜ ਰਖੈ ਆਪਣਿਆ ਭਗਤਾ ਕੀ ਪੈਰੀ ਪਾਵੈ ॥

आपणिआ सेवका की आपि पैज रखै आपणिआ भगता की पैरी पावै ॥

Aapa(nn)iaa sevakaa kee aapi paij rakhai aapa(nn)iaa bhagataa kee pairee paavai ||

He Himself preserves the honor of His servants; He causes others to fall at the feet of His devotees.

ਧਰਮ ਰਾਇ ਹੈ ਹਰਿ ਕਾ ਕੀਆ ਹਰਿ ਜਨ ਸੇਵਕ ਨੇੜਿ ਨ ਆਵੈ ॥

धरम राइ है हरि का कीआ हरि जन सेवक नेड़ि न आवै ॥

Dharam raai hai hari kaa keeaa hari jan sevak ne(rr)i na aavai ||

The Righteous Judge of Dharma is a creation of the Lord; he does not approach the humble servant of the Lord.

ਜੋ ਹਰਿ ਕਾ ਪਿਆਰਾ ਸੋ ਸਭਨਾ ਕਾ ਪਿਆਰਾ ਹੋਰ ਕੇਤੀ ਝਖਿ ਝਖਿ ਆਵੈ ਜਾਵੈ ॥੧੭॥

जो हरि का पिआरा सो सभना का पिआरा होर केती झखि झखि आवै जावै ॥१७॥

Jo hari kaa piaaraa so sabhanaa kaa piaaraa hor ketee jhakhi jhakhi aavai jaavai ||17||

One who is dear to the Lord, is dear to all; so many others come and go in vain. ||17||

Pauree:

ਆਪੇ ਸਭ ਘਟ ਅੰਦਰੇ ਆਪੇ ਹੀ ਬਾਹਰਿ ॥

आपे सभ घट अंदरे आपे ही बाहरि ॥

Aape sabh ghat anddare aape hee baahari ||

He Himself is deep within all hearts, and He Himself is outside them.

ਆਪੇ ਗੁਪਤੁ ਵਰਤਦਾ ਆਪੇ ਹੀ ਜਾਹਰਿ ॥

आपे गुपतु वरतदा आपे ही जाहरि ॥

Aape gupatu varatadaa aape hee jaahari ||

He Himself is prevailing unmanifest, and He Himself is manifest.

ਜੁਗ ਛਤੀਹ ਗੁਬਾਰੁ ਕਰਿ ਵਰਤਿਆ ਸੁੰਨਾਹਰਿ ॥

जुग छतीह गुबारु करि वरतिआ सुंनाहरि ॥

Jug chhateeh gubaaru kari varatiaa sunnaahari ||

For thirty-six ages, He created the darkness, abiding in the void.

ਓਥੈ ਵੇਦ ਪੁਰਾਨ ਨ ਸਾਸਤਾ ਆਪੇ ਹਰਿ ਨਰਹਰਿ ॥

ओथै वेद पुरान न सासता आपे हरि नरहरि ॥

Othai ved puraan na saasataa aape hari narahari ||

There were no Vedas, Puraanas or Shaastras there; only the Lord Himself existed.

ਬੈਠਾ ਤਾੜੀ ਲਾਇ ਆਪਿ ਸਭ ਦੂ ਹੀ ਬਾਹਰਿ ॥

बैठा ताड़ी लाइ आपि सभ दू ही बाहरि ॥

Baithaa taa(rr)ee laai aapi sabh doo hee baahari ||

He Himself sat in the absolute trance, withdrawn from everything.

ਆਪਣੀ ਮਿਤਿ ਆਪਿ ਜਾਣਦਾ ਆਪੇ ਹੀ ਗਉਹਰੁ ॥੧੮॥

आपणी मिति आपि जाणदा आपे ही गउहरु ॥१८॥

Aapa(nn)ee miti aapi jaa(nn)adaa aape hee gauharu ||18||

Only He Himself knows His state; He Himself is the unfathomable ocean. ||18||

ਆਪੇ ਦਾਨਾਂ ਬੀਨਿਆ ਆਪੇ ਪਰਧਾਨਾਂ ॥

आपे दानां बीनिआ आपे परधानां ॥

Aape daanaan beeniaa aape paradhaanaan ||

He Himself is all-wise and all-knowing; He Himself is supreme.

ਆਪੇ ਰੂਪ ਦਿਖਾਲਦਾ ਆਪੇ ਲਾਇ ਧਿਆਨਾਂ ॥

आपे रूप दिखालदा आपे लाइ धिआनां ॥

Aape roop dikhaaladaa aape laai dhiaanaan ||

He Himself reveals His form, and He Himself enjoins us to His meditation.

ਆਪੇ ਮੋਨੀ ਵਰਤਦਾ ਆਪੇ ਕਥੈ ਗਿਆਨਾਂ ॥

आपे मोनी वरतदा आपे कथै गिआनां ॥

Aape monee varatadaa aape kathai giaanaan ||

He Himself poses as a silent sage, and He Himself speaks spiritual wisdom.

ਕਉੜਾ ਕਿਸੈ ਨ ਲਗਈ ਸਭਨਾ ਹੀ ਭਾਨਾ ॥

कउड़ा किसै न लगई सभना ही भाना ॥

Kau(rr)aa kisai na lagaee sabhanaa hee bhaanaa ||

He does not seem bitter to anyone; He is pleasing to all.

ਉਸਤਤਿ ਬਰਨਿ ਨ ਸਕੀਐ ਸਦ ਸਦ ਕੁਰਬਾਨਾ ॥੧੯॥

उसतति बरनि न सकीऐ सद सद कुरबाना ॥१९॥

Usatati barani na sakeeai sad sad kurabaanaa ||19||

His Praises cannot be described; forever and ever, I am a sacrifice to Him. ||19||

ਸਭੁ ਕਿਹੁ ਤੇਰੈ ਵਸਿ ਹੈ ਤੂ ਸਚਾ ਸਾਹੁ ॥

सभु किहु तेरै वसि है तू सचा साहु ॥

Sabhu kihu terai vasi hai too sachaa saahu ||

Everything is in Your power; You are the True King.

ਭਗਤ ਰਤੇ ਰੰਗਿ ਏਕ ਕੈ ਪੂਰਾ ਵੇਸਾਹੁ ॥

भगत रते रंगि एक कै पूरा वेसाहु ॥

Bhagat rate ranggi ek kai pooraa vesaahu ||

The devotees are imbued with the Love of the One Lord; they have perfect faith in Him.

ਅੰਮ੍ਰਿਤੁ ਭੋਜਨੁ ਨਾਮੁ ਹਰਿ ਰਜਿ ਰਜਿ ਜਨ ਖਾਹੁ ॥

अम्रितु भोजनु नामु हरि रजि रजि जन खाहु ॥

Ammmritu bhojanu naamu hari raji raji jan khaahu ||

The Name of the Lord is the ambrosial food; His humble servants eat their fill.

ਸਭਿ ਪਦਾਰਥ ਪਾਈਅਨਿ ਸਿਮਰਣੁ ਸਚੁ ਲਾਹੁ ॥

सभि पदारथ पाईअनि सिमरणु सचु लाहु ॥

Sabhi padaarath paaeeani simara(nn)u sachu laahu ||

All treasures are obtained - meditative remembrance on the Lord is the true profit.

ਸੰਤ ਪਿਆਰੇ ਪਾਰਬ੍ਰਹਮ ਨਾਨਕ ਹਰਿ ਅਗਮ ਅਗਾਹੁ ॥੨੦॥

संत पिआरे पारब्रहम नानक हरि अगम अगाहु ॥२०॥

Santt piaare paarabrham naanak hari agam agaahu ||20||

The Saints are very dear to the Supreme Lord God, O Nanak; the Lord is unapproachable and unfathomable. ||20||

ਆਪੇ ਜੰਤ ਉਪਾਇਅਨੁ ਆਪੇ ਆਧਾਰੁ ॥

आपे जंत उपाइअनु आपे आधारु ॥

Aape jantt upaaianu aape aadhaaru ||

He Himself created the creatures, and He Himself supports them.

ਆਪੇ ਸੂਖਮੁ ਭਾਲੀਐ ਆਪੇ ਪਾਸਾਰੁ ॥

आपे सूखमु भालीऐ आपे पासारु ॥

Aape sookhamu bhaaleeai aape paasaaru ||

He Himself is seen to be subtle, and He Himself is obvious.

ਆਪਿ ਇਕਾਤੀ ਹੋਇ ਰਹੈ ਆਪੇ ਵਡ ਪਰਵਾਰੁ ॥

आपि इकाती होइ रहै आपे वड परवारु ॥

Aapi ikaatee hoi rahai aape vad paravaaru ||

He Himself remains a solitary recluse, and He Himself has a huge family.

ਨਾਨਕੁ ਮੰਗੈ ਦਾਨੁ ਹਰਿ ਸੰਤਾ ਰੇਨਾਰੁ ॥

नानकु मंगै दानु हरि संता रेनारु ॥

Naanaku manggai daanu hari santtaa renaaru ||

Nanak asks for the gift of the dust of the feet of the Saints of the Lord.

ਹੋਰੁ ਦਾਤਾਰੁ ਨ ਸੁਝਈ ਤੂ ਦੇਵਣਹਾਰੁ ॥੨੧॥੧॥ ਸੁਧੁ ॥

होरु दातारु न सुझई तू देवणहारु ॥२१॥१॥ सुधु ॥

Horu daataaru na sujhaee too deva(nn)ahaaru ||21||1|| sudhu ||

I cannot see any other Giver; You alone are the Giver, O Lord. ||21||1|| Sudh ||

Ik-oamkkaari satigur prsaadi ||

ਸੇਜ ਏਕ ਏਕੋ ਪ੍ਰਭੁ ਠਾਕੁਰੁ ॥

सेज एक एको प्रभु ठाकुरु ॥

Sej ek eko prbhu thaakuru ||

There is one bed, and One Lord God.

ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿ ਹਰਿ ਰਾਵੇ ਸੁਖ ਸਾਗਰੁ ॥੧॥

गुरमुखि हरि रावे सुख सागरु ॥१॥

Guramukhi hari raave sukh saagaru ||1||

The Gurmukh enjoys the Lord, the ocean of peace. ||1||
