ਦੀਦਨਿ ਏਸ਼ਾਣ ਖ਼ੁਦਾ ਰਾ ਦੀਦਨ ਅਸਤ ॥ ੧੭੫ ॥

दीदनि एशाण ख़ुदा रा दीदन असत ॥ १७५ ॥

dheedhan eshaan khhudhaa raa dheedhan asat || 175 ||

And, a sight of such saints is like getting a glimpse of Akaalpurakh. (175)


ਮੁਸ਼ਕਿਲ ਆਮਦ ਦੀਦਨਿ ਹੱਕ ਰਾ ਬਿਆਣ

मुशकिल आमद दीदनि हक्क रा बिआण

mushakil aamadh dheedhan hak raa biaan

It is difficult to describe the 'glimpse' of Waaheguru;


ਮੀਦਿਹਦ ਈਣ ਜੁਮਲਾ ਰਾ ਕੁਦਰਤ ਨਿਸ਼ਾਣ ॥ ੧੭੬ ॥

मीदिहद ईण जुमला रा कुदरत निशाण ॥ १७६ ॥

meedhihadh ieen jumalaa raa kudharat nishaan || 176 ||

His powers are reflected in the entire Nature that He has created. (176)


ਅਜ਼ ਤੁਫ਼ੈਲਿ ਸ਼ਾਣ ਖ਼ੁਦਾ ਰਾ ਦੀਦਾ-ਅਮ

अज़ तुफ़ैलि शाण ख़ुदा रा दीदा-अम

az tuphail shaan khhudhaa raa dheedhaa-am

With their kindness, I have seen a glimpse of Akaalpurakh;


ਗੁਲ ਜ਼ ਬਾਗ਼ਿ ਮਾਅਰਫ਼ਤ ਬਰ ਚੀਦਾ-ਅਮ ॥ ੧੭੭ ॥

गुल ज़ बाग़ि माअरफ़त बर चीदा-अम ॥ १७७ ॥

gul z baag(h) maaraphat bar cheedhaa-am || 177 ||

And, with their grace, I have selected a lively flower from the Divine Garden. (177)


ਦੀਦਨਿ ਹੱਕ ਮਾਅਨੀਏ ਦਾਰਦ ਸ਼ਰੀਫ਼

दीदनि हक्क माअनीए दारद शरीफ़

dheedhan hak maane'ee dhaaradh shareeph

Even to think of getting a glimpse of Akaalpurakh is indeed a sacred intention;


ਮਨ ਨਿ-ਅਮ ਈਣ ਜੁਮਲਾ ਆਣ ਜ਼ਾਤਿ ਲਤੀਫ ॥ ੧੭੮ ॥

मन नि-अम ईण जुमला आण ज़ाति लतीफ ॥ १७८ ॥

man ni-am ieen jumalaa aan zaat lateef || 178 ||

Goya says, "I am nothing! "ll this, including the above thought, is due to His abstract and mysterious Entity." (178)


ਹਰ ਕਿ ਊ ਦਾਨਿਸਤ ਈਣ ਹਰਫ਼ਿ ਤਮਾਮ

हर कि ऊ दानिसत ईण हरफ़ि तमाम

har k uoo dhaanisat ieen haraph tamaam

Whosoever has understood this complete message (word),


ਯਾਫ਼ਤ ਊ ਆਣ ਗੰਜਿ ਮਖ਼ਫ਼ੀ ਰਾ ਮਕਾਮ ॥ ੧੭੯ ॥

याफ़त ऊ आण गंजि मख़फ़ी रा मकाम ॥ १७९ ॥

yaaphat uoo aan ga(n)j makhhaphee raa makaam || 179 ||

As if he has discovered the location of the hidden treasure. (179)


ਮਾਅਨੀਏ ਹੱਕ ਸੂਰਤੇ ਦਾਰਦ ਨਿਕੂ-ਸਤ

माअनीए हक्क सूरते दारद निकू-सत

maane'ee hak soorate dhaaradh nikoo-sat

The reality of Waaheguru has an extremely attractive reflection;


ਸੁਰਤਿ ਹੱਕ ਸੁਰਤਿ ਮਰਦਾਨਿ ਊ-ਸਤ ॥ ੧੮੦ ॥

सुरति हक्क सुरति मरदानि ऊ-सत ॥ १८० ॥

surat hak surat maradhaan uoo-sat || 180 ||

The picture of Akaalpurakh is (can be seen) in His own men and women, the saintly persons. (180)


ਖ਼ਲਵਤਿ ਏਸ਼ਾਣ ਬਵਦ ਦਰ ਅੰਜੁਮਨ

ख़लवति एशाण बवद दर अंजुमन

khhalavat eshaan bavadh dhar a(n)juman

They feel they are in seclusion even when they are in the company of groups of people, the congregations;


ਵਸਫ਼ਿ ਏਸ਼ਾਣ ਬਰ ਜ਼ੁਬਾਨਿ ਮਰਦੋ ਜ਼ਨ ॥ ੧੮੧ ॥

वसफ़ि एशाण बर ज़ुबानि मरदो ज़न ॥ १८१ ॥

vasaph eshaan bar zubaan maradho zan || 181 ||

Praises of their glory are on the tongues of everyone. (181)


ਜ਼ੀਣ ਖ਼ਬਰ ਵਾਕਿਫ਼ ਕਸੇ ਬਾਸ਼ਦ ਕਿ ਊ

ज़ीण ख़बर वाकिफ़ कसे बाशद कि ऊ

zeen khhabar vaakiph kase baashadh k uoo

Only that person can be cognizant of this mystery,


ਦਾਰਦ ਅਜ਼ ਸ਼ੌਕਿ ਮੁਹੱਬਤ ਗ਼ੁਫ਼ਤਗ਼ੂ ॥ ੧੮੨ ॥

दारद अज़ शौकि मुहब्बत ग़ुफ़तग़ू ॥ १८२ ॥

dhaaradh az shauak muhabat g(h)uphatag(h)oo || 182 ||

Who talks and discusses about the devotion for Akaalpurakh with enthusiasm. (182)


ਸ਼ੌਕਿ ਮੌਲਾ-ਅਸ਼ ਗਿਰੇਬਾਣ ਗੀਰ ਸ਼ੁਦ

शौकि मौला-अश गिरेबाण गीर शुद

shauak maualaa-ash girebaan geer shudh

Anyone whose enthusiastic devotion for Waaheguru becomes a necklace (garland) for his neck,


ਨਾਕਸੇ ਹਮ ਸਾਹਿਬਿ ਤਦਬੀਰ ਸ਼ੁਦ ॥ ੧੮੩ ॥

नाकसे हम साहिबि तदबीर शुद ॥ १८३ ॥

naakase ham saahib tadhabeer shudh || 183 ||

Even though he, being a lowly person, becomes wise and sagacious. (183)


ਸ਼ੌਕਿ ਮੌਲਾਯਤ ਚੂੰ ਬਾਸ਼ਦ ਦਸਤਗੀਰ

शौकि मौलायत चूँ बाशद दसतगीर

shauak maualaayat choo(n) baashadh dhasatageer

When the enthusiasm of devotion for God becomes your supporter,


ਜ਼ੱਰਾ ਗਰਦਦ ਰਸ਼ਕਿ ਖ਼ੁਰਸ਼ੀਦ ਮੁਨੀਰ ॥ ੧੮੪ ॥

ज़र्रा गरदद रशकि ख़ुरशीद मुनीर ॥ १८४ ॥

zaraa garadhadh rashak khhurasheedh muneer || 184 ||

Then even a particle of dust desires to emulate (and becomes) a bright sun. (184)


ਬਸਕਿ ਹੱਕ ਮੀਬਾਰਦ ਅਜ਼ ਗ਼ੁਫ਼ਤਾਰਿ ਸ਼ਾਣ

बसकि हक्क मीबारद अज़ ग़ुफ़तारि शाण

basak hak meebaaradh az g(h)uphataar shaan

When they talk, they shower (words of) the nectar of Truth,


ਦੀਦਾਹਾ ਰੌਸ਼ਨ ਸ਼ੁਦ ਅਜ਼ ਦੀਦਾਰਿ ਸ਼ਾਣ ॥ ੧੮੫ ॥

दीदाहा रौशन शुद अज़ दीदारि शाण ॥ १८५ ॥

dheedhaahaa rauashan shudh az dheedhaar shaan || 185 ||

With their glimpse, the eyes become more bright and soothed. (185)


ਰੂਜ਼ੋ ਸ਼ਬ ਬਾਸ਼ੰਦ ਦਰ ਜ਼ਿਕਰਸ਼ ਮੁਦਾਮ

रूज़ो शब बाशंद दर ज़िकरश मुदाम

roozo shab baasha(n)dh dhar zikarash mudhaam

They keep meditating on the Naam of Waaheguru day and night;


ਦਰ ਲਿਬਾਸਿ ਦੁਨਯਵੀ ਮਰਦਿ ਤਮਾਮ ॥ ੧੮੬ ॥

दर लिबासि दुनयवी मरदि तमाम ॥ १८६ ॥

dhar libaas dhunayavee maradh tamaam || 186 ||

Even in the worldly guise, living in this world, they become perfect human beings. (186)


ਬਾ ਹਮਾ ਅਜ਼ ਜੁਮਲਾ ਆਜ਼ਾਦੰਦ ਸ਼ਾਣ

बा हमा अज़ जुमला आज़ादंद शाण

baa hamaa az jumalaa aazaadha(n)dh shaan

With everything around them, they are independent and are immune to the effects of these material distractions;


ਦਰ ਹਮਾ ਹਾਲ ਅਜ਼ ਖ਼ੁਦਾ ਸ਼ਾਦੰਦ ਸ਼ਾਣ ॥ ੧੮੭ ॥

दर हमा हाल अज़ ख़ुदा शादंद शाण ॥ १८७ ॥

dhar hamaa haal az khhudhaa shaadha(n)dh shaan || 187 ||

They are always satisfied and pleased under the Will of Akaalpurakh. (187)


ਦਰ ਲਿਬਾਸਿ ਦੁਨਯਵੀਣ ਵ ਰਸਮਿ ਦੀਣ

दर लिबासि दुनयवीण व रसमि दीण

dhar libaas dhunayaveen v rasam dheen

Even they are dressed in worldly clothes, their tradition and practice is religious.


ਹਮਚੂ ਏਸਾਣ ਸਾਨੀਏ ਦੀਗਰ ਮਬੀਣ ॥ ੧੮੮ ॥

हमचू एसाण सानीए दीगर मबीण ॥ १८८ ॥

hamachoo esaan saane'ee dheegar mabeen || 188 ||

There is no one like them in this world. (188)


ਹਮ ਚੁਨਾਣ ਦਰ ਯਾਦਿ ਹੱਕ ਦਾਰੰਦ ਦਸਤ

हम चुनाण दर यादि हक्क दारंद दसत

ham chunaan dhar yaadh hak dhaara(n)dh dhasat

They are starkly steady, firm and adept in the memory of Waaheguru,


ਹੱਕ ਸ਼ਨਾਸੋ ਹੱਕ ਪਸੰਦੋ ਹੱਕ ਪ੍ਰਸਤ ॥ ੧੮੯ ॥

हक्क शनासो हक्क पसंदो हक्क प्रसत ॥ १८९ ॥

hak shanaaso hak pasa(n)dho hak prasat || 189 ||

They appreciate and recognize Him, are dedicated to the Truth and also worship the Truth. (189)


ਦਰ ਲਿਬਾਸਿ ਦੁਨਯਵੀ ਸਰ ਤਾ ਕਦਮ

दर लिबासि दुनयवी सर ता कदम

dhar libaas dhunayavee sar taa kadham

Even though they are seen clad in worldly guise from head to toe,


ਬੀਨੀ ਵਾ ਗ਼ਾਫ਼ਿਲ ਨਭਬੀਨੀ ਨੀਮ ਦਮ ॥ ੧੯੦ ॥

बीनी वा ग़ाफ़िल नभबीनी नीम दम ॥ १९० ॥

beenee vaa g(h)aaphil nabhabeenee neem dham || 190 ||

You will never find them to be negligent of remembering Waaheguru even for half a moment. (190)


ਆਣ ਖ਼ੁਦਾਇ ਪਾਕ ਸ਼ਾਣ ਰਾ ਪਾਕ ਕਰਦ

आण ख़ुदाइ पाक शाण रा पाक करद

aan khhudhai paak shaan raa paak karadh

The chaste Akaalpurakh transforms them into pure and holy beings,


ਗਰ ਚਿਹ ਜਿਸਮਿ ਸ਼ਾਣ ਜ਼ਿ-ਮੁਸ਼ਤਿ ਖ਼ਾਕ ਕਰਦ ॥ ੧੯੧ ॥

गर चिह जिसमि शाण ज़ि-मुशति ख़ाक करद ॥ १९१ ॥

gar cheh jisam shaan zi-mushat khhaak karadh || 191 ||

Even though their body is made up of just a fistful of dust. (191)


ਈਣ ਵਜੂਦਿ ਖ਼ਾਕ ਪਾਕ ਅਜ਼ ਯਾਦਿ ਊ-ਸਤ

ईण वजूदि ख़ाक पाक अज़ यादि ऊ-सत

e'een vajoodh khhaak paak az yaadh uoo-sat

This human body made of dust becomes sacred with His remembrance;


ਜ਼ਾਣ ਕਿ ਏਸ਼ਾਣ ਮਜ਼ਹਰਿ ਬੁਨਿਆਦਿ ਊ-ਸਤ ॥ ੧੯੨ ॥

ज़ाण कि एशाण मज़हरि बुनिआदि ऊ-सत ॥ १९२ ॥

zaan k eshaan mazahar buniaadh uoo-sat || 192 ||

Because it is the manifestation of the foundation (personality) bestowed by Akaalpurakh. (192)


ਰਸਮਿ ਸ਼ਾਣ ਆਈਨਿ ਦਿਲਦਾਰੀ ਬਵਦ

रसमि शाण आईनि दिलदारी बवद

rasam shaan aaieen dhiladhaaree bavadh

It is their custom to remember the Almighty;


ਦਰ ਹਮਾ ਹਾਲ ਅਜ਼ ਖ਼ੁਦਾ ਯਾਰੀ ਬਵਦ ॥ ੧੯੩ ॥

दर हमा हाल अज़ ख़ुदा यारी बवद ॥ १९३ ॥

dhar hamaa haal az khhudhaa yaaree bavadh || 193 ||

And, it is their tradition to always generate love and devotion for Him. (193)


ਹਰ ਕਸੇ ਰਾ ਕੈ ਨਸੀਬ ਈਣ ਦੌਲਤ ਅਸਤ

हर कसे रा कै नसीब ईण दौलत असत

har kase raa kai naseeb ieen dhaualat asat

How can every one be blessed with such a treasure?'


ਦੌਲਤਿ ਜਾਵੀਦ ਅੰਦਰ ਸੁਹਬਤ ਅਸਤ ॥ ੧੯੪ ॥

दौलति जावीद अंदर सुहबत असत ॥ १९४ ॥

dhaualat jaaveedh a(n)dhar suhabat asat || 194 ||

This non-perishable wealth is available only through their company. (194)


ਈਣ ਹਮਾ ਅਜ਼ ਸੁਹਬਤਿ ਮਰਦਾਨਿ ਊਸਤ

ईण हमा अज़ सुहबति मरदानि ऊसत

e'een hamaa az suhabat maradhaan uoosat

All these (material goods) are the result of the blessings of their company;


ਦੌਲਤਿ ਹਰ ਦੋ ਜਹਾਣ ਦਰ ਸ਼ਾਨਿ ਊਸਤ ॥ ੧੯੫ ॥

दौलति हर दो जहाण दर शानि ऊसत ॥ १९५ ॥

dhaualat har dho jahaan dhar shaan uoosat || 195 ||

And, the wealth of both the worlds is in their praise and honor. (195)


ਸੁਹਬਤਿ ਸ਼ਾਣ ਨਫ਼ੀਆ ਬਿਸੀਆਰ ਆਵੁਰਦ

सुहबति शाण नफ़ीआ बिसीआर आवुरद

suhabat shaan napheeaa biseeaar aavuradh

An association with them is extremely profitable;


ਨਖ਼ਲਿ ਜਿਸਮਿ ਖ਼ਾਕ ਹੱਕ ਬਾਰ ਆਵੁਰਦ ॥ ੧੯੬ ॥

नख़लि जिसमि ख़ाक हक्क बार आवुरद ॥ १९६ ॥

nakhhal jisam khhaak hak baar aavuradh || 196 ||

The date-palm of the body of dust brings in the fruit of Truth. (196)


ਹਮਚੁਨੀਣ ਸੁਹਬਤ ਕੁਜਾ ਬਾਜ਼ ਆਇਦਤ

हमचुनीण सुहबत कुजा बाज़ आइदत

hamachuneen suhabat kujaa baaz aaidhat

When would you be able to run into such (an exalted) company?


ਕਜ਼ ਬਰਾਏ ਮਰਦਮੀ ਮੀ-ਸ਼ਾਇਦਤ ॥ ੧੯੭ ॥

कज़ बराए मरदमी मी-शाइदत ॥ १९७ ॥

kaz baraae maradhamee mee-shaidhat || 197 ||

Such a blessed company will bestow upon you the humaneness. (197)


ਮਰਦਮੀ ਯਾਅਨੀ ਬ-ਹੱਕ ਪੈਵਸਤਨ ਅਸਤ

मरदमी याअनी ब-हक्क पैवसतन असत

maradhamee yaanee ba-hak paivasatan asat

The purpose of human life is (ultimately) to merge with the Creator;


ਗ਼ੈਰ ਜ਼ਿਕਰਸ਼ ਅਜ਼ ਹਮਾ ਵਾ ਰਿਸਤਨ ਅਸਤ ॥ ੧੯੮ ॥

ग़ैर ज़िकरश अज़ हमा वा रिसतन असत ॥ १९८ ॥

g(h)air zikarash az hamaa vaa risatan asat || 198 ||

Absence of His description and discourse is tantamount to breaking away from every one else. (198)


ਚੂੰ ਦਿਲਿ ਬੰਦਾ ਬਜ਼ਿਕਰਸ਼ ਰਾਹ ਯਾਫ਼ਤ

चूँ दिलि बंदा बज़िकरश राह याफ़त

choo(n) dhil ba(n)dhaa bazikarash raeh yaaphat

When a human being gets into the tradition of remembering Waaheguru,


ਹਾਸਿਲਿ ਉਮਰੋ ਦਿਲ ਆਗਾਹ ਯਾਫ਼ਤ ॥ ੧੯੯ ॥

हासिलि उमरो दिल आगाह याफ़त ॥ १९९ ॥

haasil umaro dhil aagaeh yaaphat || 199 ||

He becomes conversant with the attainment of both life and soul. (199)


ਕਾਰਸ਼ ਅਜ਼ ਗਰਦੂਨਿ ਗਰਦਾਂ ਦਰ ਗੂਜ਼ਰਤ

कारश अज़ गरदूनि गरदाँ दर गूज़रत

kaarash az garadhoon garadhaa(n) dhar goozarat

He will be redeemed and set free from the attachments of this revolving world when someone breaks away his connections from it;


ਬਰ ਸਰਿ ਦੁਨਿਆ ਚੂ ਮਰਦਾਂ ਦਰ ਗੁਜ਼ਰਤ ॥ ੨੦੦ ॥

बर सरि दुनिआ चू मरदाँ दर गुज़रत ॥ २०० ॥

bar sar dhuniaa choo maradhaa(n) dhar guzarat || 200 ||

Then, he would become detached from the material distractions like a seeker of spiritual knowledge. (200)


ਈਂ ਜਹਾਨੋ ਆਂ ਜਹਾਂ ਤਹਿਸੀਂ ਕੁਨੰਦ

ईं जहानो आँ जहाँ तहिसीं कुनंद

e'ee(n) jahaano aa(n) jahaa(n) tahisee(n) kuna(n)dh

He was applauded in both the worlds,


ਆਂ ਕਿ ਦਿਲ ਅਜ਼ ਜ਼ਿਕਰਿ ਹੱਕ ਰੰਗੀਂ ਕੁਨੰਦ ॥ ੨੦੧ ॥

आँ कि दिल अज़ ज़िकरि हक्क रंगीं कुनंद ॥ २०१ ॥

aa(n) k dhil az zikar hak ra(n)gee(n) kuna(n)dh || 201 ||

When anyone imbued his heart and soul with the remembrance of Akaalpurakh. (201)


ਦਰ ਵਜੂਦਸ਼ ਆਫਤਾਬੇ ਤਾਫ਼ਤਾ

दर वजूदश आफताबे ताफ़ता

dhar vajoodhash aafataabe taaphataa

The body of such a person begins to radiate like the sun,


ਨਾਮਿ ਹੱਕ ਦਰ ਸੁਹਬਤਿ ਸ਼ਾਂ ਯਾਫ਼ਤਾ ॥ ੨੦੨ ॥

नामि हक्क दर सुहबति शाँ याफ़ता ॥ २०२ ॥

naam hak dhar suhabat shaa(n) yaaphataa || 202 ||

When he, in the company of saintly persons, has attained the real Truth. (202)


ਨਾਮਿ ਹੱਕ ਅਜ਼ ਬਸਕਿ ਰੂਜ਼ੋ ਸ਼ਬ ਗ੍ਰਿਫ਼ਤ

नामि हक्क अज़ बसकि रूज़ो शब गृफ़त

naam hak az basak roozo shab giraphat

He remembered the Naam of Akaalpurakh day and night,


ਦਸਤਿ ਊ ਰਾ ਜ਼ਿਕਰਿ ਮੌਲਾ ਬਰ-ਗ੍ਰਿਫ਼ਤ ॥ ੨੦੩ ॥

दसति ऊ रा ज़िकरि मौला बर-गृफ़त ॥ २०३ ॥

dhasat uoo raa zikar maualaa bara-giraphat || 203 ||

Then only the discourses and praises of the Lord became his support. (203)


ਜ਼ਿਕਰਿ ਮੌਲਾ ਆਂ ਕਿ ਯਾਰੀ ਦਾਦਾ ਸ਼ੁਦ

ज़िकरि मौला आँ कि यारी दादा शुद

zikar maualaa aa(n) k yaaree dhaadhaa shudh

Anyone who has received the support of Akaalpurakh due to his meditation,


ਖ਼ਾਨਾਇ ਵੀਰਾਂ ਜ਼ਿ ਹੱਕ ਆਬਾਦਾ ਸ਼ੁਦ ॥ ੨੦੪ ॥

ख़ानाइ वीराँ ज़ि हक्क आबादा शुद ॥ २०४ ॥

khhaanai veeraa(n) z hak aabaadhaa shudh || 204 ||

Will have his deserted house, with the achievement of the Truth, rehabilitated and revived again. (204)


ਜ਼ਿਕਰਿ ਮੌਲਾ ਦੌਲਤੇ ਬਾਸ਼ਦ ਅਜ਼ੀਮ

ज़िकरि मौला दौलते बाशद अज़ीम

zikar maualaa dhaualate baashadh azeem

Meditation of God is one great treasure;


ਕੈ ਬਦਸਤ ਆਇਦ ਜ਼ਿ ਗੰਜੋ ਮਾਲੋ ਸੀਮ ॥ ੨੦੫ ॥

कै बदसत आइद ज़ि गंजो मालो सीम ॥ २०५ ॥

kai badhasat aaidh z ga(n)jo maalo seem || 205 ||

How can one obtain such a magnificent treasure from the worldly riches like wealth and silver? (205)


ਹਰ ਕਿ ਹੱਕ ਰਾ ਖਾਸਤ ਹੱਕ ਊ ਰਾ ਬਖ਼ਾਸਤ

हर कि हक्क रा खासत हक्क ऊ रा बख़ासत

har k hak raa khaasat hak uoo raa bakhhaasat

Whosoever developed a desire for (meeting with) the Lord, the Lord liked him;


ਸ਼ੌੋਕਿ ਮੌਲਾ ਬਿਹਤਰੀਨਿ ਕੀਮੀਆ-ਸਤ ॥ ੨੦੬ ॥

शौोकि मौला बिहतरीनि कीमीआ-सत ॥ २०६ ॥

shauok maualaa bihatareen keemeeaa-sat || 206 ||

The love and devotion for Akaalpurakh is the best cure-all panacea. (206)


ਗੋਹਰਿ ਮਕਸੂਦ ਤਨ ਯਾਦਿ ਖ਼ੁਦਾ-ਸਤ

गोहरि मकसूद तन यादि ख़ुदा-सत

gohar makasoodh tan yaadh khhudhaa-sat

The deed of the main purpose of this body is only to remember Waaheguru;


ਲੇਕਨ ਊ ਅੰਦਰ ਜ਼ੁਬਾਨਿ ਔਲੀਆ ਸਤ ॥ ੨੦੭ ॥

लेकन ऊ अंदर ज़ुबानि औलीआ सत ॥ २०७ ॥

lekan uoo a(n)dhar zubaan aaualeeaa sat || 207 ||

However, He always abides and manifests on the tongues of the noble souls. (207)


ਪਾਰਸਾਈ ਬਿਹ ਕਿ ਬਹਿਰਿ ਹੱਕ ਬਵਦ

पारसाई बिह कि बहिरि हक्क बवद

paarasaiee beh k bahir hak bavadh

That saintliness is really worthwhile if it is to seek the Truth;


ਬਾਦਸ਼ਾਹੀ ਂਚੀਸਤ ਕਾਂ ਨਾਹੱਕ ਬਵਦ ॥ ੨੦੮ ॥

बादशाही ंचीसत काँ नाहक्क बवद ॥ २०८ ॥

baadhashaahee (n)cheesat kaa(n) naahak bavadh || 208 ||

What is the worth of that kingdom that is useless if it is not aiming towards God. (208)


ਹਰ ਦੋ ਮੁਸ਼ਤਾਕ ਅੰਦ ਰਿੰਦੋ ਪਾਰਸਾ

हर दो मुशताक अंद रिंदो पारसा

har dho mushataak a(n)dh ri(n)dho paarasaa

Both the drunk and the holy person are desirous of Him;


ਤਾ ਕਿਰਾ ਖ਼ਾਹਦ ਖ਼ੁਦਾਇ ਕਿਬਰੀਆ ॥ ੨੦੯ ॥

ता किरा ख़ाहद ख़ुदाइ किबरीआ ॥ २०९ ॥

taa kiraa khhaahadh khhudhai kibareeaa || 209 ||

Let us see! Whom does He, the transcendent Akaalpurakh likes? (209)


ਬੰਦਾ ਤਾਂ ਬਾਸ਼ਦ ਬਰਾਇ ਬੰਦਗੀਸਤ

बंदा ताँ बाशद बराइ बंदगीसत

ba(n)dhaa taa(n) baashadh barai ba(n)dhageesat

A human being deserves to be called a human being only if he directs himself towards meditation;


ਗੈਰ ਹਰਫ਼ਿ ਹੱਕ ਹਮਾ ਸ਼ਰਮਿੰਦਗੀਸਤ ॥ ੨੧੦॥

गैर हरफ़ि हक्क हमा शरमिंदगीसत ॥ २१०॥

gair haraph hak hamaa sharami(n)dhageesat || 210||

Without a description/word of Waaheguru, it is all humiliation. (210)


ਲੇਕ ਦਰ ਜ਼ਾਹਿਰ ਕਸੇ ਬਾਸ਼ਦ ਦਰੁਸਤ

लेक दर ज़ाहिर कसे बाशद दरुसत

lek dhar zaahir kase baashadh dharusat

However, it is apparent that only that person is on the right path,


ਆਂ ਕਿ ਆਰਦ ਮੁਰਸ਼ਦਿ ਕਾਮਿਲ ਬਦਸਤ ॥ ੨੧੧ ॥

आँ कि आरद मुरशदि कामिल बदसत ॥ २११ ॥

aa(n) k aaradh murashadh kaamil badhasat || 211 ||

Who has been able to attain (or attach himself to) a perfect Guru. (211)


ਦੀਨੋ ਦੁਨਿਆ ਹਰ ਦੋ ਫ਼ਰਮਾਂ-ਦਾਰ ਊ

दीनो दुनिआ हर दो फ़रमाँ-दार ऊ

dheeno dhuniaa har dho pharamaa(n)-dhaar uoo

Both the Faith and the world are in complete obedience to the Almighty;


ਹਰ ਦੋ ਆਲਮ ਸ਼ਾਇਕਿ ਦੀਦਾਰਿ ਊ ॥ ੨੧੨ ॥

हर दो आलम शाइकि दीदारि ऊ ॥ २१२ ॥

har dho aalam shaik dheedhaar uoo || 212 ||

Both the worlds are equally desirous to get just one glimpse of Him. (212)


ਹਰ ਕਿ ਰਾ ਉਲਫ਼ਤ ਜ਼ਿ ਨਾਮਿ ਹੱਕ ਬਵਦ

हर कि रा उलफ़त ज़ि नामि हक्क बवद

har k raa ulaphat z naam hak bavadh

Anyone who has developed deep love for the Naam of Akaalpurakh,


ਦਰ ਹਕੀਕਤ ਆਰਫ਼ਿ ਮੁਤਲਿਕ ਬਵਦ ॥ ੨੧੩ ॥

दर हकीकत आरफ़ि मुतलिक बवद ॥ २१३ ॥

dhar hakeekat aaraph mutalik bavadh || 213 ||

He becomes a perfect seeker of the divine knowledge in real terms. (213)


ਯਾਦਿ ਹੱਕ ਰਾ ਤਾਲਿਬਿ ਊ ਮੀ ਕੁਨੰਦ

यादि हक्क रा तालिबि ऊ मी कुनंद

yaadh hak raa taalib uoo mee kuna(n)dh

Seekers of Waaheguru are (actively) involved in His meditation;


ਆਰਿਫ਼ਿ ਹੱਕ ਜੁਮਲਾ ਨੇਕੋ ਮੀ ਕੁਨੰਦ ॥ ੨੧੪ ॥

आरिफ़ि हक्क जुमला नेको मी कुनंद ॥ २१४ ॥

aariph hak jumalaa neko mee kuna(n)dh || 214 ||

Seekers of Waaheguru transform everyone into something very attractive. (214)


ਹੱਕ ਹਮਾਂ ਬਾਸ਼ਦ ਕਿ ਬਾਸ਼ੀ ਬੰਦਾਇ

हक्क हमाँ बाशद कि बाशी बंदाइ

hak hamaa(n) baashadh k baashee ba(n)dhai

The truth is that you should (always strive to) become a person of God,


ਬੇ-ਅਦਬ ਦਾਇਮ ਜ਼ ਹੱਕ ਸ਼ਰਮੰਿਦਾਇ ॥ ੨੧੫ ॥

बे-अदब दाइम ज़ हक्क शरमंिदाइ ॥ २१५ ॥

be-adhab dhaim z hak sharama(n)idhai || 215 ||

A disrespectful (apostate/atheist) person is always chagrined and ashamed before Him. (215)


ਉਮਰ ਆਂ ਬਾਸ਼ਦ ਕਿ ਊ ਦਰ ਯਾਦ ਰਫ਼ਤ

उमर आँ बाशद कि ऊ दर याद रफ़त

aumar aa(n) baashadh k uoo dhar yaadh raphat

Only that life is worth living that is spent in remembering Waaheguru,


ਉਮਰ ਨਾ ਬੂਦ ਆਂ ਕਿ ਬਰਬਾਦ ਰਫ਼ਤ ॥ ੨੧੬ ॥

उमर ना बूद आँ कि बरबाद रफ़त ॥ २१६ ॥

aumar naa boodh aa(n) k barabaadh raphat || 216 ||

What use is that life that is spent needlessly and in vain. (216)


ਬੰਦਾ ਪੈਦਾ ਸ਼ੁਦ ਬਰਾਏ ਬੰਦਗੀ

बंदा पैदा शुद बराए बंदगी

ba(n)dhaa paidhaa shudh baraae ba(n)dhagee

A person is born (only) to be engaged in meditation;


ਖ਼ੁਸ਼ ਇਲਾਜੇ ਹਸਤ ਬਹਿਰਿ ਬੰਦਗੀ ॥ ੨੧੭ ॥

ख़ुश इलाजे हसत बहिरि बंदगी ॥ २१७ ॥

khhush ilaaje hasat bahir ba(n)dhagee || 217 ||

In fact, religious devotion (and prayers) is a good cure to put this life in the proper perspective. (217)


ਐ ਖ਼ੁਸ਼ਾ ਚਸ਼ਮੇ ਕਿ ਦੀਦਾ ਰੂਇ ਦੂਸਤ

ऐ ख़ुशा चशमे कि दीदा रूइ दूसत

aai khhushaa chashame k dheedhaa rooi dhoosat

How fortunate is that eye that has got a glimpse of the face of the Beloved!


ਮਰਦੁਮਿ ਚਸ਼ਮਿ ਦੋ ਆਲਮ ਸੂਇ ਊ ਸਤ ॥ ੨੧੮ ॥

मरदुमि चशमि दो आलम सूइ ऊ सत ॥ २१८ ॥

maradhum chasham dho aalam sooi uoo sat || 218 ||

Eyes of the people of both the worlds are fixed towards it. (218)


ਈਂ ਜਹਾਨੋ ਆਂ ਜਹਾਂ ਅਜ਼ ਹੱਕ ਪੁਰ ਅਸਤ

ईं जहानो आँ जहाँ अज़ हक्क पुर असत

e'ee(n) jahaano aa(n) jahaa(n) az hak pur asat

This and the other world are satiated with the Truth;


ਲੇਕ ਮਰਦਿ ਹੱਕ ਬ-ਆਲਮ ਕਮਤਰ ਅਸਤ ॥ ੨੧੯ ॥

लेक मरदि हक्क ब-आलम कमतर असत ॥ २१९ ॥

lek maradh hak ba-aalam kamatar asat || 219 ||

But devoted men of God are rare in this world. (219)


ਹਰ ਕਸੇ ਕੂ ਬ-ਖ਼ੁਦਾ ਹਮਰੰਗ ਸ਼ੁਦ

हर कसे कू ब-ख़ुदा हमरंग शुद

har kase koo ba-khhudhaa hamara(n)g shudh

If some one became indistinguishable with Akaalpurakh,


ਵਸਫ਼ਿ ਊ ਦਰ ਮੁਲਕਿ ਰੂਮੋ ਜ਼ੰਗ ਸ਼ੁਦ ॥ ੨੨੦ ॥

वसफ़ि ऊ दर मुलकि रूमो ज़ंग शुद ॥ २२० ॥

vasaph uoo dhar mulak roomo za(n)g shudh || 220 ||

Then his glory spreads in countries like Rome and Africa. (220)


ਮਾਅਨੀਏ ਯਕਰੰਗੀ ਆਮਦ ਸ਼ੌਕਿ ਹੱਕ

माअनीए यकरंगी आमद शौकि हक्क

maane'ee yakara(n)gee aamadh shauak hak

To get assimilated in the Entity of God is, in fact, real love for Him;


ਬੰਦਾ ਰਾ ਆਰਾਮ ਅੰਦਰ ਜ਼ੌਕਿ ਹੱਕ ॥ ੨੨੧ ॥

बंदा रा आराम अंदर ज़ौकि हक्क ॥ २२१ ॥

ba(n)dhaa raa aaraam a(n)dhar zauak hak || 221 ||

And, it is only with a real devotion for Him that one gets eternal bliss. (221)


ਊ ਬਰੰਗਿ ਸਾਹਿਬੀ ਬਾ ਇੱਜ਼ੋ ਜਾਹ

ऊ बरंगि साहिबी बा इज़्ज़ो जाह

uoo bara(n)g saahibee baa izo jaah

Under the influence of Akaalpurakh, (Accepting the Will of Waaheguru) he enjoys eclat and honors;


ਮਾ ਬਾਰੰਗ ਬੰਦਗੀ ਅੰਦਰ ਪਨਾਹ ॥ ੨੨੨ ॥

मा बारंग बंदगी अंदर पनाह ॥ २२२ ॥

maa baara(n)g ba(n)dhagee a(n)dhar panaeh || 222 ||

We, under the influence of meditation, have sought his (His) shelter and refuge. (222)


ਊ ਬਰੰਗਿ ਸਾਹਿਬਿ ਫ਼ਰਮਾਂ ਰਵਾ

ऊ बरंगि साहिबि फ़रमाँ रवा

uoo bara(n)g saahib pharamaa(n) ravaa

Accepting Waaheguru's Will, he is the king of the world and his command prevails all over;


ਮਾ ਬਰੰਗਿ ਬੰਦਗੀ ਨਿਜ਼ਦਸ਼ ਗਦਾ ॥ ੨੨੩ ॥

मा बरंगि बंदगी निज़दश गदा ॥ २२३ ॥

maa bara(n)g ba(n)dhagee nizadhash gadhaa || 223 ||

We, under the influence of meditation, are just beggars before him. (223)


ਊ ਬਰੰਗਿ ਸਾਹਿਬੀ ਦਾਰਦ ਨਜ਼ਰ

ऊ बरंगि साहिबी दारद नज़र

uoo bara(n)g saahibee dhaaradh nazar

He, while imbued in accepting Master's Will, keeps a close watch on us;


ਬੰਦਾ ਰਾ ਅਜ਼ ਬੰਦਗੀ ਬਾਸ਼ਦ ਖ਼ਬਰ ॥ ੨੨੪ ॥

बंदा रा अज़ बंदगी बाशद ख़बर ॥ २२४ ॥

ba(n)dhaa raa az ba(n)dhagee baashadh khhabar || 224 ||

And, one can get to know him only through meditation. (224)


ਉਮਰ ਹਾ ਜੋਯਾਇ ਈਂ ਦੌਲਤ ਸ਼ੁਦੰਦ

उमर हा जोयाइ ईं दौलत शुदंद

aumar haa joyai iee(n) dhaualat shudha(n)dh

They kept looking for such a treasure for ages;


ਸਾਲਹਾ ਮੁਸ਼ਤਾਕਿ ਈਂ ਸੁਹਬਤ ਸ਼ੁਦੰਦ ॥ ੨੨੫ ॥

सालहा मुशताकि ईं सुहबत शुदंद ॥ २२५ ॥

saalahaa mushataak iee(n) suhabat shudha(n)dh || 225 ||

They were anxiously desirous of such a company for years. (225)


ਹਰ ਕਸੇ ਰਾ ਜ਼ੱਰਾ ਜ਼ਾਂ ਬਾਸ਼ਦ ਨਸੀਬ

हर कसे रा ज़र्रा ज़ाँ बाशद नसीब

har kase raa zaraa zaa(n) baashadh naseeb

Anyone who was fortunate enough to attain even an atomic particle of such a wealth,


ਆਂ ਬਖ਼ੂਬੀ ਗਸ਼ਤ ਖ਼ੁਰਸ਼ੀਦਿ ਨਜੀਬ ॥ ੨੨੬ ॥

आँ बख़ूबी गशत ख़ुरशीदि नजीब ॥ २२६ ॥

aa(n) bakhhoobee gashat khhurasheedh najeeb || 226 ||

He became an extraordinary sun easily and spontaneously. (226)


ਗੈਰ ਊ ਯਾਅਨੀ ਜ਼ਿ ਹੱਕ ਗਫ਼ਲਤ ਬਵਦ

गैर ऊ याअनी ज़ि हक्क गफ़लत बवद

gair uoo yaanee z hak gaphalat bavadh

The underlying meaning of living without the memory of Waaheguru is complete ignorance and naivety.


ਯਾਦਿ ਊ ਸਰਮਾਯਾਇ ਦੌਲਤ ਬਵਦ ॥ ੨੨੭ ॥

यादि ऊ सरमायाइ दौलत बवद ॥ २२७ ॥

yaadh uoo saramaayai dhaualat bavadh || 227 ||

The valuable asset of the remembrance of Akaalpurakh becomes the treasure of some fortunate beings. (227)


ਦੀਦਨਿ ਹੱਕ ਤਾ ਮੁਯੱਸਰ ਮੀ-ਸ਼ਵਦ

दीदनि हक्क ता मुयस्सर मी-शवद

dheedhan hak taa muyasar mee-shavadh

One can get a glimpse of the Omnipotent only


ਸੁਹਬਤਿ ਮਰਦਾਂ ਤਅਸੁਰ ਮੀ-ਸ਼ਵਦ ॥ ੨੨੮ ॥

सुहबति मरदाँ तअसुर मी-शवद ॥ २२८ ॥

suhabat maradhaa(n) tasur mee-shavadh || 228 ||

When one's association with noble saints become fruitful. (228)


ਹਰਫ਼ਿ ਹੱਕ ਦਰ ਦਿਲ ਅਗਰ ਮਾਵਾ ਕੁਨਦ

हरफ़ि हक्क दर दिल अगर मावा कुनद

haraph hak dhar dhil agar maavaa kunadh

If someone can abide even one word of Truth in his heart,


ਦਰ ਬੁਨਿ ਹਰ ਮੂਇ ਊ ਹੱਕ ਜਾ ਕੁਨਦ ॥ ੨੨੯ ॥

दर बुनि हर मूइ ऊ हक्क जा कुनद ॥ २२९ ॥

dhar bun har mooi uoo hak jaa kunadh || 229 ||

Then, Truth but nothing but the Truth gets assimilated to the roots of each of his hair. (229)


ਹਰ ਕਿ ਖ਼ੁਦ ਰਾ ਸੂਇ ਹੱਕ ਮੀ-ਆਦਰਸ਼

हर कि ख़ुद रा सूइ हक्क मी-आदरश

har k khhudh raa sooi hak mee-aadharash

Anyone who can direct himself towards the divine path of Waaheguru,


ਅਜ਼ ਰੁਖ਼ਿ ਊ ਨੂਰਿ-ਹੱਕ ਮੀ-ਬਾਰਦਸ਼ ॥ ੨੩੦ ॥

अज़ रुख़ि ऊ नूरि-हक्क मी-बारदश ॥ २३० ॥

az rukhh uoo noori-hak mee-baaradhash || 230 ||

God's glory and splendor radiates from his face. (230)


ਈਂ ਹਮਾ ਫ਼ੈਜ ਅਜ਼ ਤੁਫ਼ੈਲਿ ਸੁਹਬਤ ਅਸਤ

ईं हमा फ़ैज अज़ तुफ़ैलि सुहबत असत

e'ee(n) hamaa phaij az tuphail suhabat asat

All this benevolence and benignity is because of them and their blessings,


ਸੁਹਬਤਿ ਮਰਦਾਨਿ ਹੱਕ ਖ਼ੁਸ਼ ਦੌਲਤ ਅਸਤ ॥ ੨੩੧ ॥

सुहबति मरदानि हक्क ख़ुश दौलत असत ॥ २३१ ॥

suhabat maradhaan hak khhush dhaualat asat || 231 ||

The company of saintly persons (of God) is one priceless asset. (231)


ਹੀਚ ਕਸ ਅਜ਼ ਹਾਲਿ ਸ਼ਾਂ ਆਗਾਹ ਨੀਸਤ

हीच कस अज़ हालि शाँ आगाह नीसत

heech kas az haal shaa(n) aagaeh neesat

No one really understands or appreciates the state of mind of these noble royalties;


ਹਰ ਕਿ ਓ ਮਿਹ ਰਾ ਦਰਾਂਜਾ ਰਾਹ ਨੀਸਤ ॥ ੨੩੨ ॥

हर कि ओ मिह रा दराँजा राह नीसत ॥ २३२ ॥

har k o meh raa dharaa(n)jaa raeh neesat || 232 ||

Every Tom, Dick or Harry does not have the wherewithal to reach there (them). (232)


ਦਰ ਨਜ਼ਰ ਆਇੰਦ ਚੂੰ ਜ਼ਾਤਿ ਅੱਲਾਹ

दर नज़र आइंद चूँ ज़ाति अल्लाह

dhar nazar aai(n)dh choo(n) zaat alaah

In appearance, they look just like an embodiment of the specie of Akaalpurakh,


ਦਰ ਹਕੀਕਤ ਹਰ ਦੋ ਆਲਮ ਅਪਨਾਹ ॥ ੨੩੩ ॥

दर हकीकत हर दो आलम अपनाह ॥ २३३ ॥

dhar hakeekat har dho aalam apanaeh || 233 ||

In reality, they are the refuge for everyone in both the worlds. (233)


ਦਰ ਕਸਬ ਬਾਸ਼ੰਦ ਆਜ਼ਾਦ ਅਜ਼ ਕਸਬ

दर कसब बाशंद आज़ाद अज़ कसब

dhar kasab baasha(n)dh aazaadh az kasab

While engaged in their professions or trades, they are still unattached and unduly engrossed in them;


ਉਮਰ ਗੁਜ਼ਰਾਨੰਦ ਅੰਦਰ ਯਾਦਿ ਰੱਬ ॥ ੨੩੪ ॥

उमर गुज़रानंद अंदर यादि रब्ब ॥ २३४ ॥

aumar guzaraana(n)dh a(n)dhar yaadh rab || 234 ||

They spend their lives in remembering the Provident (day and night). (234)


ਖ਼ੇਸ਼ ਰਾ ਚੂੰ ਮੂਰ ਬਿਸ਼ਨਾਸੰਦ ਸ਼ਾਂ

ख़ेश रा चूँ मूर बिशनासंद शाँ

khhesh raa choo(n) moor bishanaasa(n)dh shaa(n)

They, the noble souls, consider themselves (out of humility) just like an ant,


ਦਰ ਹਕੀਕਤ ਬਿਹਤਰ ਅਜ਼ ਪੀਲਿ ਦਮਾਂ ॥ ੨੩੫ ॥

दर हकीकत बिहतर अज़ पीलि दमाँ ॥ २३५ ॥

dhar hakeekat bihatar az peel dhamaa(n) || 235 ||

Even though they, in fact, might be more powerful than a ferocious and dangerous elephant. (235)


ਹਰ ਚਿ ਮੀ-ਬੀਨੀ ਹਮਾ ਹੈਰਾਨਿ ਸ਼ਾਂ

हर चि मी-बीनी हमा हैरानि शाँ

har ch mee-beenee hamaa hairaan shaa(n)

Whatever you are seeing in this world is simply astonished and confounded about them;


ਸ਼ਾਨਿ ਸ਼ਾਂ ਬਿਹਤਰ ਬਵਦ ਅਜ਼ ਇਮਤਿਹਾਂ ॥ ੨੩੬ ॥

शानि शाँ बिहतर बवद अज़ इमतिहाँ ॥ २३६ ॥

shaan shaa(n) bihatar bavadh az imatihaa(n) || 236 ||

Their splendor and aura is far superior than even that of the examinations. (236)


ਸੁਹਬਤਿ ਮਰਦਾਨਿ ਹੱਕ ਬਾਸ਼ਦ ਕਰਮ

सुहबति मरदानि हक्क बाशद करम

suhabat maradhaan hak baashadh karam

The company of the true devotees of Waaheguru is a great boon;


ਦੌਲਤੇ ਕਆਂ ਰਾ ਨਭਬਾਸ਼ਦ ਹੀਚ ਗ਼ਮ ॥ ੨੩੭ ॥

दौलते कआँ रा नभबाशद हीच ग़म ॥ २३७ ॥

dhaualate kaa(n) raa nabhabaashadh heech g(h)m || 237 ||

Such a wealth and virtuosity does not suffer from any anxiety or grief. (237)


ਖ਼ੁਦ ਬਜ਼ੁਰਗੋ ਹਰ ਕਸੇ ਸ਼ਾਂ ਨਿਸ਼ਸਤ

ख़ुद बज़ुरगो हर कसे शाँ निशसत

khhudh bazurago har kase shaa(n) nishasat

They, themselves, are elevated, mature and blessed; anyone who happens to be bestowed with their company;


ਊ ਬਜ਼ੁਰਗੀ ਯਾਫ਼ਤ ਤਾਂ ਹਰ ਜਾ ਕਿ ਹਸਤ ॥ ੨੩੮ ॥

ऊ बज़ुरगी याफ़त ताँ हर जा कि हसत ॥ २३८ ॥

uoo bazuragee yaaphat taa(n) har jaa k hasat || 238 ||

He, too, becomes elevated, mature and blessed, and receives laurels everywhere. (238)


ਹਰ ਕਸੇ ਕੂ ਖ਼ੇਸ਼ ਰਾ ਬਿਸ਼ਨਾਖ਼ਤਾ

हर कसे कू ख़ेश रा बिशनाख़ता

har kase koo khhesh raa bishanaakhhataa

Anyone who has recognized his own reality;


ਦਰ ਤਰੀਕਿ ਬੰਦਗੀ ਪਰਦਾਖ਼ਤਾ ॥ ੨੩੯ ॥

दर तरीकि बंदगी परदाख़ता ॥ २३९ ॥

dhar tareek ba(n)dhagee paradhaakhhataa || 239 ||

Consider that he has adopted the mode or the method of meditation. (239)


ਈਂ ਜ਼ਮੀਨੋ ਆਸਮਾਂ ਪੁਰ ਅਜ਼ ਖ਼ੁਦਾ-ਸਤ

ईं ज़मीनो आसमाँ पुर अज़ ख़ुदा-सत

e'ee(n) zameeno aasamaa(n) pur az khhudhaa-sat

This earth and the skies are saturated with (the creations of ) God,


ਆਲਮੇ ਹਰ ਸੂ ਦਵਾਂ ਕਆਂ ਸ਼ਹਿ ਕੁਜਾ-ਸਤ ॥ ੨੪੦ ॥

आलमे हर सू दवाँ कआँ शहि कुजा-सत ॥ २४० ॥

aalame har soo dhavaa(n) kaa(n) sheh kujaa-sat || 240 ||

But this world keeps wandering and straying in all directions to find out as to where He is. (240)


ਦੀਦਾ ਬਰ ਦੀਦਾਰਿ ਹੱਕ ਗਰ ਮੁਬਤਲਾ-ਸਤ

दीदा बर दीदारि हक्क गर मुबतला-सत

dheedhaa bar dheedhaar hak gar mubatalaa-sat

If you can aim your eyes fixedly on a glimpse of Akaalpurakh,


ਹਰ ਚਿਹ ਮੀ ਬੀਨੀ ਬਚਸ਼ਮਤ ਹੱਕ-ਨੁਮਾ-ਸਤ ॥ ੨੪੧ ॥

हर चिह मी बीनी बचशमत हक्क-नुमा-सत ॥ २४१ ॥

har cheh mee beenee bachashamat haka-numaa-sat || 241 ||

Then, whatever you see will be a vision of the Almighty Waaheguru. (241)


ਹਰ ਕਿ ਸ਼ਾਂ ਰਾ ਦੀਦ ਹੱਕ ਰਾ ਦੀਦਾ ਅਸਤ

हर कि शाँ रा दीद हक्क रा दीदा असत

har k shaa(n) raa dheedh hak raa dheedhaa asat

Anyone who has seen that noble soul, consider that he has got a glimpse of the Omnipotent;


ਊ ਤਰੀਕਿ ਬੰਦਗੀ ਫ਼ਹਿਮੀਦਾ ਅਸਤ ॥ ੨੪੨ ॥

ऊ तरीकि बंदगी फ़हिमीदा असत ॥ २४२ ॥

uoo tareek ba(n)dhagee phahimeedhaa asat || 242 ||

And, that person has perceived and realized the path of meditation. (242)


ਤਰਜ਼ਿ ਯੱਕ-ਰੰਗੀ ਅਜਬ ਰੰਗ ਆਰਦਸ਼

तरज़ि यक्क-रंगी अजब रंग आरदश

taraz yaka-ra(n)gee ajab ra(n)g aaradhash

The focus on devotion for God brings in with it an unusual complexion of disposition,


ਕਜ਼ ਬਦਨ ਨੂਰਿ ਖ਼ੁਦਾ ਮੀ-ਬਾਰਦਸ਼ ॥ ੨੪੩ ॥

कज़ बदन नूरि ख़ुदा मी-बारदश ॥ २४३ ॥

kaz badhan noor khhudhaa mee-baaradhash || 243 ||

The splendor and radiance of Akaalpurakh then oozes out from each and every aspect of such a dedicated devotion. (243)


ਊ ਬਰੰਗਿ ਸਾਹਿਬੀ ਈਂ ਹਸਤੋ ਬੂਦ

ऊ बरंगि साहिबी ईं हसतो बूद

uoo bara(n)g saahibee iee(n) hasato boodh

He is the Master of all this illusion (of materialism), this is His own form;


ਬੰਦਗੀ ਦਾਇਮ ਬ-ਆਦਾਬ ਸਜੂਦ ॥ ੨੪੪ ॥

बंदगी दाइम ब-आदाब सजूद ॥ २४४ ॥

ba(n)dhagee dhaim ba-aadhaab sajoodh || 244 ||

And, His meditation, with respect and prostrations, always seems apt. (244)


ਊ ਬਰੰਗਿ ਸਾਹਿਬੀ ਅਰਸ਼ਾਦਿ ਊ

ऊ बरंगि साहिबी अरशादि ऊ

uoo bara(n)g saahibee arashaadh uoo

He is the shape and form of the Master and only His command prevails;


ਬੰਦਗੀ ਤਾ ਸਰ ਕਦਮ ਬੁਬਯਾਦਿ ਊ ॥ ੨੪੫ ॥

बंदगी ता सर कदम बुबयादि ऊ ॥ २४५ ॥

ba(n)dhagee taa sar kadham bubayaadh uoo || 245 ||

The meditation from head to toe also emerges out of (because of) Him. (245)


ਸਾਹਿਬੇ ਬਾ ਸਾਹਿਬਾਂ ਜ਼ੇਬਦ ਮੁਦਾਮ

साहिबे बा साहिबाँ ज़ेबद मुदाम

saahibe baa saahibaa(n) zebadh mudhaam

A Master looks graceful and befitting only among the Masters,


ਬੰਦਾ ਰਾ ਦਰ ਬੰਦਗੀ ਬਾਸ਼ਦ ਕਿਆਮ ॥ ੨੪੬ ॥

बंदा रा दर बंदगी बाशद किआम ॥ २४६ ॥

ba(n)dhaa raa dhar ba(n)dhagee baashadh kiaam || 246 ||

A person should, therefore, continue to stay in meditation all the times. (246)


ਸਾਹਿਬਾਂ ਰਾ ਸਾਹਿਬੀ ਬਾਸ਼ਦ ਸ਼ੁਆਰ

साहिबाँ रा साहिबी बाशद शुआर

saahibaa(n) raa saahibee baashadh shuaar

The character of Masters is to be master-like,


ਬੰਦਾ ਰਾ ਦਰ ਬੰਦਗੀ ਫ਼ਸਲਿ ਬਹਾਰ ॥ ੨੪੭ ॥

बंदा रा दर बंदगी फ़सलि बहार ॥ २४७ ॥

ba(n)dhaa raa dhar ba(n)dhagee phasal bahaar || 247 ||

And, a man has the spring season around him only when he meditates. (247)


ਸਾਹਿਬਾਂ ਰਾ ਸਾਹਿਬੀ ਦਾਇਮ ਬਵਦ

साहिबाँ रा साहिबी दाइम बवद

saahibaa(n) raa saahibee dhaim bavadh

The master-ship character, His praises, of the Master is eternal,


ਬੰਦਾ ਹਮ ਦਰ ਬੰਦਗੀ ਕਾਇਮ ਬਵਦ ॥ ੨੪੮ ॥

बंदा हम दर बंदगी काइम बवद ॥ २४८ ॥

ba(n)dhaa ham dhar ba(n)dhagee kaim bavadh || 248 ||

And, the meditation of a human being is permanent. (248)


ਅਜ਼ ਬਰਾਇ ਆਂ ਕਿ ਤੂ ਸਰ-ਗਸ਼ਤਾਈ

अज़ बराइ आँ कि तू सर-गशताई

az barai aa(n) k too sara-gashataiee

For this, you have turned your head away from Him, you have strayed;


ਅਜ਼ ਪਏ ਦੁਨਿਆ ਜ਼ਿ ਹੱਕ ਬਰ-ਗਸ਼ਤਾਈ ॥ ੨੪੯ ॥

अज़ पए दुनिआ ज़ि हक्क बर-गशताई ॥ २४९ ॥

az pe dhuniaa z hak bara-gashataiee || 249 ||

That you have turned your face away from Him just for the sake of this material world. (249)


ਦੌਲਤਿ ਗੀਤੀ ਨ ਬਾਸ਼ਦ ਪਾਇਦਾਰ

दौलति गीती न बाशद पाइदार

dhaualat geetee na baashadh paidhaar

The worldly riches are not going to last for ever,


ਯੱਕ ਨਫ਼ਸ ਖ਼ੁਦ ਰਾ ਬਸੂਇ ਹੱਕ ਬਿਆਰ ॥ ੨੫੦ ॥

यक्क नफ़स ख़ुद रा बसूइ हक्क बिआर ॥ २५० ॥

yak naphas khhudh raa basooi hak biaar || 250 ||

(Therefore) You should turn yourself towards Waaheguru even for just one moment. (250)


ਚੂੰ ਦਿਲਿ ਤੂ ਮਾਇਲਿ ਯਾਦਿ ਖ਼ੁਦਾ-ਸਤ

चूँ दिलि तू माइलि यादि ख़ुदा-सत

choo(n) dhil too mail yaadh khhudhaa-sat

When your heart and soul becomes inclined towards remembering Waaheguru,


ਆਂ ਖ਼ੁਦਾਇ ਪਾਕ ਕੈ ਅਜ਼ ਤੂ ਜੁਦਾ-ਸਤ ॥ ੨੫੧ ॥

आँ ख़ुदाइ पाक कै अज़ तू जुदा-सत ॥ २५१ ॥

aa(n) khhudhai paak kai az too judhaa-sat || 251 ||

Then, how and when would that pious and chaste Waaheguru be separated from you? (251)


ਗਰ ਤੂ ਗ਼ਾਫ਼ਿਲ-ਬਾਸ਼ੀ ਅਜ਼ ਫ਼ਿਕਰਿ ਬੁਲੰਦ

गर तू ग़ाफ़िल-बाशी अज़ फ़िकरि बुलंद

gar too g(h)aaphila-baashee az phikar bula(n)dh

If you remain negligent about paying close attention to the remembrance of lofty Akaalpurakh,


ਤੂ ਕੁਜਾ ਓ ਊ ਕੁਜਾ ਐ ਹੋਸ਼ਮੰਦ ॥ ੨੫੨ ॥

तू कुजा ओ ऊ कुजा ऐ होशमंद ॥ २५२ ॥

too kujaa o uoo kujaa aai hoshama(n)dh || 252 ||

Then, you mentally alert person! How can there be a meeting between you and Him (You are here and He is somewhere else)? (252)


ਯਾਦਿ ਊ ਦਰਦਿ ਦੋ ਆਲਮ ਰਾ ਦਵਾ-ਸਤ

यादि ऊ दरदि दो आलम रा दवा-सत

yaadh uoo dharadh dho aalam raa dhavaa-sat

Memory of Waaheguru is the cure-all for all pains and agonies of both the worlds;


ਯਾਦਿ ਊ ਹਰ ਗੁਮ-ਸ਼ੁਦਾ ਰਾ ਰਾਹਨੁਮਾ ਸਤ ॥ ੨੫੩ ॥

यादि ऊ हर गुम-शुदा रा राहनुमा सत ॥ २५३ ॥

yaadh uoo har guma-shudhaa raa raahanumaa sat || 253 ||

His memory also directs all lost and strayed ones to the correct path. (253)


ਯਾਦਿ ਊ ਈਂ ਜੁਮਲਾ ਰਾ ਲਾਜ਼ਮ ਬਵਦ

यादि ऊ ईं जुमला रा लाज़म बवद

yaadh uoo iee(n) jumalaa raa laazam bavadh

His remembrance is absolutely imperative for everyone,


ਹਰ ਕਿ ਗ਼ਾਫ਼ਿਲ ਸ਼ੁਦ ਅਜ਼ੋ ਮੁਲਜ਼ਮ ਸ਼ਵਦ ॥ ੨੫੪ ॥

हर कि ग़ाफ़िल शुद अज़ो मुलज़म शवद ॥ २५४ ॥

har k g(h)aaphil shudh azo mulazam shavadh || 254 ||

And, anyone who becomes negligent and forgets Him is indeed guilty. (254)


ਯਾ ਇਲਾਹੀ ਬੰਦਾ ਰਾ ਤੌਫ਼ੀਕ ਦਿਹ

या इलाही बंदा रा तौफ़ीक दिह

yaa ilaahee ba(n)dhaa raa tauapheek dhih

O Akaalpurakh ! Kindly bless me with such a courage and strength,


ਤਾ ਬ-ਯਾਦਤ ਬਿਗੁਜ਼ਰਦ ਈਂ ਉਮਰ ਬਿਹ ॥ ੨੫੫ ॥

ता ब-यादत बिगुज़रद ईं उमर बिह ॥ २५५ ॥

taa ba-yaadhat biguzaradh iee(n) umar beh || 255 ||

So that this life of mine is spent in a worthwhile manner in remembering You. (255)


ਉਮਰ ਆਂ ਬਾਸ਼ਦ ਕਿ ਦਰ ਯਾਦਿ ਖ਼ੁਦਾ

उमर आँ बाशद कि दर यादि ख़ुदा

aumar aa(n) baashadh k dhar yaadh khhudhaa

That life is worth living that is spent in remembering Akaalpurakh,


ਬਿਗੁਜ਼ਰਦ ਦੀਗਰ ਨਭਬਾਸ਼ਦ ਮੁਦਆ ॥ ੨੫੬ ॥

बिगुज़रद दीगर नभबाशद मुदआ ॥ २५६ ॥

biguzaradh dheegar nabhabaashadh mudhaa || 256 ||

Any part of it spent without His memory, is simply a waste and useless. (256)


ਮੁਦਆ ਬਿਹਤਰ ਜੁਜ਼ ਯਾਦ ਨੀਸਤ

मुदआ बिहतर जुज़ याद नीसत

mudhaa bihatar juz yaadh neesat

There is no purpose (of life) better than the remembrance of Akaalpurakh,


ਗ਼ੈਰ ਯਾਦਸ਼ ਈਂ ਦਿਲਿ ਮਾ ਸ਼ਾਦ ਨੀਸਤ ॥ ੨੫੭ ॥

ग़ैर यादश ईं दिलि मा शाद नीसत ॥ २५७ ॥

g(h)air yaadhash iee(n) dhil maa shaadh neesat || 257 ||

And, our hearts and minds can never be pleased without remembering Him. (257)


ਸ਼ਾਦੀਇ ਦਾਇਮ ਬਵਦ ਯਾਦਿ ਖ਼ੁਦਾ

शादीइ दाइम बवद यादि ख़ुदा

shaadheei dhaim bavadh yaadh khhudhaa

The nostalgia about Waaheguru bestows upon us an eternal elation;


ਐ ਜ਼ਹੇ ਦੌਲਤ ਕਿ ਬਾਸ਼ਦ ਰਾਹਨੁਮਾ ॥ ੨੫੮ ॥

ऐ ज़हे दौलत कि बाशद राहनुमा ॥ २५८ ॥

aai zahe dhaualat k baashadh raahanumaa || 258 ||

How fortunate we are that it shows us the direction (in our lives)!(258)


ਗਰ ਚਿ ਹੱਕ ਦਰ ਜੁਮਲਾਇ ਦਿਲਹਾ ਬਵਦ

गर चि हक्क दर जुमलाइ दिलहा बवद

gar ch hak dhar jumalai dhilahaa bavadh

Even though Akaalpurakh abides in the hearts of everyone,


ਲੇਕ ਆਰਿਫ਼ ਸਾਹਿਬਿ ਈਮਾਂ ਬਵਦ ॥ ੨੫੯ ॥

लेक आरिफ़ साहिबि ईमाँ बवद ॥ २५९ ॥

lek aariph saahib ieemaa(n) bavadh || 259 ||

Still, only an enlightened persons can be called 'a man of faith and religion'. (259)


ਚਸ਼ਮਿ ਆਰਿਫ਼ ਕਾਬਲਿ ਦੀਦਾਰ ਹਸਤ

चशमि आरिफ़ काबलि दीदार हसत

chasham aariph kaabal dheedhaar hasat

Only the eye of an enlightened person deserves a glimpse of the Almighty;


ਮਰਦਿ ਆਰਿਫ ਵਾਕਿਫ਼ਿ ਅਸਰਾਰ ਹਸਤ ॥ ੨੬੦ ॥

मरदि आरिफ वाकिफ़ि असरार हसत ॥ २६० ॥

maradh aarif vaakiph asaraar hasat || 260 ||

And, it is only the heart of a knowledgeable person who is familiar with His mysteries. (260)


ਸੁਹਬਤਿ ਮਰਦਾਨਿ ਹੱਕ ਰਾ ਦੂਸਤ ਦਾਰ

सुहबति मरदानि हक्क रा दूसत दार

suhabat maradhaan hak raa dhoosat dhaar

You should develop friendship with the noble souls and should keep their company;


ਤਾ ਤੂ ਹਮ ਗਰਦੀ ਜ਼ਿ ਯਮਨਸ਼ ਰੁਸਤਗਾਰ ॥ ੨੬੧ ॥

ता तू हम गरदी ज़ि यमनश रुसतगार ॥ २६१ ॥

taa too ham garadhee z yamanash rusatagaar || 261 ||

So that, with the Providential blessings, you may be redeemed from the cycles of transmigration. (261)


ਹਰ ਚਿਹ ਹਸਤ ਅਜ਼ ਸੁਹਬਤਿ ਈਸ਼ਾਂ ਬਵਦ

हर चिह हसत अज़ सुहबति ईशाँ बवद

har cheh hasat az suhabat ieeshaa(n) bavadh

Whatever is visible in this world is all due to company of saintly persons;


ਜ਼ਾਂ ਕਿ ਜਿਸਮੋ ਜਾ ਸਰਾਪਾ ਜਾਂ ਬਵਦ ॥ ੨੬੨ ॥

ज़ाँ कि जिसमो जा सरापा जाँ बवद ॥ २६२ ॥

zaa(n) k jisamo jaa saraapaa jaa(n) bavadh || 262 ||

Because our bodies and souls are, in fact, the soul of the Provident. (262)


ਮੁਰਦੁਮਾਨਿ ਦੀਦਾ ਰੋਸ਼ਨ ਸ਼ੁਦ ਅਜ਼ੋ

मुरदुमानि दीदा रोशन शुद अज़ो

muradhumaan dheedhaa roshan shudh azo

The pupils of my eyes are fully lighted only because of their company;


ਖ਼ਾਕਿ ਜਿਸਮਮ ਜੁਮਲਾ ਗੁਲਸ਼ਨ ਸ਼ੁਦ ਅਜ਼ੋ ॥ ੨੬੩ ॥

ख़ाकि जिसमम जुमला गुलशन शुद अज़ो ॥ २६३ ॥

khhaak jisamam jumalaa gulashan shudh azo || 263 ||

And, the dirt of my body, for the same reason, is transformed into a lush garden. (263)


ਐ ਜ਼ਹੇ ਸਹੁਬਤ ਕਿ ਖ਼ਾਕ ਅਕਸੀਰ ਕਰਦ

ऐ ज़हे सहुबत कि ख़ाक अकसीर करद

aai zahe sahubat k khhaak akaseer karadh

Blessed is that association that has transformed a dirt into a cure-all;


ਨਾਕਸੇ ਰਾ ਸਾਹਿਬਿ ਤਦਬੀਰ ਕਰਦ ॥ ੨੬੪ ॥

नाकसे रा साहिबि तदबीर करद ॥ २६४ ॥

naakase raa saahib tadhabeer karadh || 264 ||

And, converted every lowly uniformed person into knowledgeable and intelligent. (264)


ਗੋਹਰੋ ਲਾਲੋ ਜਵਾਹਰ ਪੇਸ਼ਿ ਸ਼ਾਂ

गोहरो लालो जवाहर पेशि शाँ

goharo laalo javaahar pesh shaa(n)

I present myself in the form of pearls, rubies and gems to my Beloved,


ਹਰ ਦਮੇ ਕੂ ਬਿਗੁਜ਼ਰਦ ਦਰ ਯਾਦਿ ਆਂ ॥ ੨੬੫ ॥

हर दमे कू बिगुज़रद दर यादि आँ ॥ २६५ ॥

har dhame koo biguzaradh dhar yaadh aa(n) || 265 ||

When I spend every moment of my life in His memory. (265)


ਈਂ ਜਵਾਹਰ-ਹਾ ਹਮਾ ਫ਼ਾਨੀ ਬਵਦ

ईं जवाहर-हा हमा फ़ानी बवद

e'ee(n) javaahara-haa hamaa phaanee bavadh

All these worldly diamonds and pearls are perishable;


ਯਾਦਿ ਹੱਕ ਬਰ ਬੰਦਾ ਅਰਜ਼ਾਨੀ ਬਵਦ ॥ ੨੬੬ ॥

यादि हक्क बर बंदा अरज़ानी बवद ॥ २६६ ॥

yaadh hak bar ba(n)dhaa arazaanee bavadh || 266 ||

The remembrance of Waaheguru, however, is extremely valuable for a human being. (266)


ਰਸਮਿ ਮਰਦਾਨਿ ਖ਼ੁਦਾ ਦਾਨੀ ਕਿ ਚੀਸਤ

रसमि मरदानि ख़ुदा दानी कि चीसत

rasam maradhaan khhudhaa dhaanee k cheesat

Do you know what is the custom and tradition of the devotees of Omnipotent?


ਫ਼ਾਰਿਗ਼ ਅੰਦ ਅਜ਼ ਕੈਦਹਾਇ ਮਰਜੋ ਜ਼ੀਸਤ ॥ ੨੬੭ ॥

फ़ारिग़ अंद अज़ कैदहाइ मरजो ज़ीसत ॥ २६७ ॥

phaarig(h) a(n)dh az kaidhahai marajo zeesat || 267 ||

They are redeemed and are free from the imprisonment of the cycles of births and deaths for ever. (267)


ਯੱਕ ਨਫ਼ਸ ਬੇ ਯਾਦਿ ਹੱਕ ਨਭਗੁਜ਼ਾਸ਼ਤੰਦ

यक्क नफ़स बे यादि हक्क नभगुज़ाशतंद

yak naphas be yaadh hak nabhaguzaashata(n)dh

They do not spend even one moment without remembering Akaalpurakh,


ਖ਼ੁਸ਼ ਆਲਮ ਬਰ ਨਹੁ ਤਬਕ ਅਫਰਾਸ਼ਤੰਦ ॥ ੨੬੮ ॥

ख़ुश आलम बर नहु तबक अफराशतंद ॥ २६८ ॥

khhush aalam bar nahu tabak afaraashata(n)dh || 268 ||

They unfurl their beautiful flag (of meditation) over all the nine skies. (268)


ਖ਼ੈਰਖ਼ਾਹਿ ਜੁਲਗੀ ਪੈਦਾਇਸ਼ ਅੰਦ

ख़ैरख़ाहि जुलगी पैदाइश अंद

khhairakhhaeh julagee paidhaish a(n)dh

They wish and pray for the well-being of the entire created world,


ਜ਼ੇਬ ਬਖ਼ਸ਼ਿ ਈਂ ਹਮਾ ਆਰਾਇਸ਼ ਅੰਦ ॥ ੨੬੯ ॥

ज़ेब बख़शि ईं हमा आराइश अंद ॥ २६९ ॥

zeb bakhhash iee(n) hamaa aaraish a(n)dh || 269 ||

It is them who bless all these creations and natural beauties with grace and elegance. (269)


ਨਾਮਿ ਹੱਕ ਮਰਦਾਨਿ ਹੱਕ ਰਾ ਜ਼ੇਵਰ ਅਸਤ

नामि हक्क मरदानि हक्क रा ज़ेवर असत

naam hak maradhaan hak raa zevar asat

The Naam of Waaheguru is an ornament for His noble and saintly devotees,


ਚਸ਼ਮਿ ਸ਼ਾਂ ਅਜ਼ ਨੂਰਿ ਹੱਕ ਪੁਰ ਗੌਹਰ ਅਸਤ ॥ ੨੭੦ ॥

चशमि शाँ अज़ नूरि हक्क पुर गौहर असत ॥ २७० ॥

chasham shaa(n) az noor hak pur gauahar asat || 270 ||

And, the eye of these nobilities is always full of pearls and gems because of the refulgent glow of the Almighty. (270)


ਹਰਫ਼ਿ ਸ਼ਾਂ ਤਾਅਲੀਮਿ ਉਮਰਿ ਜਾਵਿਦਾਂ

हरफ़ि शाँ ताअलीमि उमरि जाविदाँ

haraph shaa(n) taaleem umar jaavidhaa(n)

Their words are a lessons for a permanent life,


ਯਾਦਿ ਹੱਕ ਦਾਰੰਦ ਦਾਇਮ ਬਰ ਜ਼ੁਬਾਂ ॥ ੨੭੧ ॥

यादि हक्क दारंद दाइम बर ज़ुबाँ ॥ २७१ ॥

yaadh hak dhaara(n)dh dhaim bar zubaa(n) || 271 ||

And, the memory of Akaalpurakh abides on their lips/tongue for ever. (271)


ਹਰ ਚਿਹ ਮੀਗੋਇੰਦ ਅਰਸ਼ਾਦਸਤੋ ਬਸ

हर चिह मीगोइंद अरशादसतो बस

har cheh meegoi(n)dh arashaadhasato bas

Their utterances have the status of the words of Divine,


ਬਰ ਨਮੀ ਆਰੰਦ ਗ਼ੈਰ ਅਜ਼ ਹੱਕ ਨਫ਼ਸ ॥ ੨੭੨ ॥

बर नमी आरंद ग़ैर अज़ हक्क नफ़स ॥ २७२ ॥

bar namee aara(n)dh g(h)air az hak naphas || 272 ||

And, not even one breath of theirs is spent without remembering Him. (272)


ਈਂ ਹਮਾ ਮੁਸ਼ਤਾਕਿ ਦੀਦਾਰਿ ਖ਼ੁਦਾ-ਸਤ

ईं हमा मुशताकि दीदारि ख़ुदा-सत

e'ee(n) hamaa mushataak dheedhaar khhudhaa-sat

All these saintly persons are really seekers of a Divine glimpse,


ਬੋਸਤਾਨਿ ਦਹਿਰ ਗੁਲਜ਼ਾਰਿ ਖ਼ੁਦਾ-ਸਤ ॥ ੨੭੩ ॥

बोसतानि दहिर गुलज़ारि ख़ुदा-सत ॥ २७३ ॥

bosataan dhahir gulazaar khhudhaa-sat || 273 ||

And, this delightful worldly spread is, in fact, a heavenly flower bed. (273)


ਹਰ ਕਿ ਬਾ-ਮਰਦਾਨਿ ਹੱਕ ਸ਼ੁਦ ਆਸ਼ਨਾ

हर कि बा-मरदानि हक्क शुद आशना

har k baa-maradhaan hak shudh aashanaa

Whosoever developed a friendship with the devotees of Waaheguru,


ਸਾਇਆਇ ਊ ਬਿਹਤਰ ਅਜ਼ ਬਾਲਿ ਹੁਮਾ ॥ ੨੭੪ ॥

साइआइ ऊ बिहतर अज़ बालि हुमा ॥ २७४ ॥

saiaai uoo bihatar az baal humaa || 274 ||

Take it that his shadow (on them) will be many times more blessed than the shadow of the feathers of the Humaa bird (It is said that a shadow of Humaa bird can bestow the kingdom of the world). (274)


ਯਾਦਿ ਹੱਕ ਯਾਅਨੀ ਜ਼ਿ ਖ਼ੁਦ ਬਿਗ਼ੁਜ਼ਸ਼ਤਨ ਅਸਤ

यादि हक्क याअनी ज़ि ख़ुद बिग़ुज़शतन असत

yaadh hak yaanee z khhudh big(h)uzashatan asat

We should take it that getting absorbed in Waaheguru's meditation is to give up self-ego,


ਅਜ਼ ਖ਼ਿਆਲਿ ਗ਼ੈਰਿ ਹੱਕ ਵਾਰੁਸਤਨ ਅਸਤ ॥ ੨੭੫ ॥

अज़ ख़िआलि ग़ैरि हक्क वारुसतन असत ॥ २७५ ॥

az khhiaal g(h)air hak vaarusatan asat || 275 ||

And, not thinking about Him would get us stuck in every other worldly attraction. (275)


ਰਸਤਗੀ ਅਜ਼ ਖ਼ੇਸ਼ਤਨ ਵਾਰਸਤਗੀ-ਸਤ

रसतगी अज़ ख़ेशतन वारसतगी-सत

rasatagee az khheshatan vaarasatagee-sat

To redeem ourselves from our egos is the real emancipation,


ਬਾ ਖ਼ੁਦਾਇ ਖ਼ੇਸ਼ਤਨ ਦਿਲ-ਬਸਤਗੀ-ਸਤ ॥ ੨੭੬ ॥

बा ख़ुदाइ ख़ेशतन दिल-बसतगी-सत ॥ २७६ ॥

baa khhudhai khheshatan dhila-basatagee-sat || 276 ||

And, to tie up our minds with Waaheguru's devotion is also real deliverance. (276)


ਹਰ ਕਸ ਕੂ ਬਾ ਖ਼ੁਦਾ ਦਿਲ ਬਸਤਾ ਅਸਤ

हर कस कू बा ख़ुदा दिल बसता असत

har kas koo baa khhudhaa dhil basataa asat

Whosoever has linked and attached his mind to the Almighty,


ਊ ਜ਼ ਚਰਖ਼ਿ ਨਹੁ ਤਬਕ ਬਰ-ਜਸਤਾ ਅਸਤ ॥ ੨੭੭ ॥

ऊ ज़ चरख़ि नहु तबक बर-जसता असत ॥ २७७ ॥

uoo z charakhh nahu tabak bara-jasataa asat || 277 ||

Take it that he has easily leaped over a sky equipped even with nine locks. (277)


ਸੁਹਬਤਿ ਦਿਲ-ਬਸਤਗਾਨਿ ਬਾ ਖ਼ੁਦਾ

सुहबति दिल-बसतगानि बा ख़ुदा

suhabat dhila-basatagaan baa khhudhaa

The company of such God-attached devotees,


ਕੈ ਮੁਯੱਸਰ ਆਇਦਤ ਈਂ ਕੀਮੀਆ ॥ ੨੭੮ ॥

कै मुयस्सर आइदत ईं कीमीआ ॥ २७८ ॥

kai muyasar aaidhat iee(n) keemeeaa || 278 ||

Take it that it is the cure-all; however, how can we be fortunate enough to obtain it? (278)


ਦੀਨੋ ਦੁਨਿਆ ਹਰ ਦੋ ਹੈਰਾਂ ਮਾਂਦਾ ਅੰਦ

दीनो दुनिआ हर दो हैराँ माँदा अंद

dheeno dhuniaa har dho hairaa(n) maa(n)dhaa a(n)dh

Both the faith and the religion are amazed,


ਬਸ ਜ਼ ਹੈਰਾਨੀ ਪ੍ਰੀਸ਼ਾਂ ਮਾਂਦਾ ਅੰਦ ॥ ੨੭੯ ॥

बस ज़ हैरानी प्रीशाँ माँदा अंद ॥ २७९ ॥

bas z hairaanee preeshaa(n) maa(n)dhaa a(n)dh || 279 ||

And in this amazement beyond limits they are perplexed. (279)


ਹਰ ਕਿਹ ਰਾ ਈਂ ਆਰਜ਼ੂਏ ਪਾਕ ਹਸਤ

हर किह रा ईं आरज़ूए पाक हसत

har keh raa iee(n) aarazooe paak hasat

Whosoever imbibes such a chaste and divine desire,


ਮੁਰਸ਼ਦਿ ਊ ਸਾਹਿਬਿ ਅਦਰਾਕ ਹਸਤ ॥ ੨੮੦ ॥

मुरशदि ऊ साहिबि अदराक हसत ॥ २८० ॥

murashadh uoo saahib adharaak hasat || 280 ||

His Guru (teacher) is the master of innate and intrinsic knowledge. (280)


ਵਾਸਿਲਾਨਿ-ਹੱਕ ਤੁਰਾ ਵਾਸਿਲ ਕੁਨੰਦ

वासिलानि-हक्क तुरा वासिल कुनंद

vaasilaani-hak turaa vaasil kuna(n)dh

God connected noble saints can make your connection with Him,


ਦੌਲਤਿ ਜਾਵੀਦ ਰਾ ਹਾਸਿਲ ਕੁਨੰਦ ॥ ੨੮੧ ॥

दौलति जावीद रा हासिल कुनंद ॥ २८१ ॥

dhaualat jaaveedh raa haasil kuna(n)dh || 281 ||

They can also help you to obtain the eternal treasure, the Naam. (281)


ਦੌਲਤਿ ਜਾਵੀਦ ਪੇਸ਼ਿ ਆਰਿਫ਼ ਅਸਤ

दौलति जावीद पेशि आरिफ़ असत

dhaualat jaaveedh pesh aariph asat

This is an immortal achievement for an enlightened person,


ਈਂ ਸਖ਼ੁਨ ਮਸ਼ਹੂਰ ਬਸ ਮੁਤਆਰਿਫ਼ ਅਸਤ ॥ ੨੮੨ ॥

ईं सख़ुन मशहूर बस मुतआरिफ़ असत ॥ २८२ ॥

e'ee(n) sakhhun mashahoor bas mutaariph asat || 282 ||

This adage is commonly well known, and everyone is well acquainted with it. (282)


ਆਰਿਫ਼ਾਨੋ ਕਾਮਿਲਾਨੋ ਵਾਸਿਲਾਂ

आरिफ़ानो कामिलानो वासिलाँ

aariphaano kaamilaano vaasilaa(n)

The enlightened, perfect and submerged into the love of God devotees;


ਨਾਮਿ ਊ ਦਾਰਦ ਦਾਇਮ ਬਰ ਜ਼ੁਬਾਂ ॥ ੨੮੩ ॥

नामि ऊ दारद दाइम बर ज़ुबाँ ॥ २८३ ॥

naam uoo dhaaradh dhaim bar zubaa(n) || 283 ||

They always have His Naam on their tongues and lips in meditation. (283)


ਬੰਦਗੀਇ ਸ਼ਾਂ ਬਵਦ ਜ਼ਿਕਰਿ ਖ਼ੁਦਾ

बंदगीइ शाँ बवद ज़िकरि ख़ुदा

ba(n)dhageei shaa(n) bavadh zikar khhudhaa

To continually meditate on His Naam is their worship;


ਦੌਲਤਿ ਜਾਵੀਦ ਬਾਸ਼ਦ ਹੱਕ-ਨੁਮਾ ॥ ੨੮੪ ॥

दौलति जावीद बाशद हक्क-नुमा ॥ २८४ ॥

dhaualat jaaveedh baashadh haka-numaa || 284 ||

And, the eternal treasure blessed by Akaalpurakh directs one towards His path. (284)


ਚੂੰ ਨੁਮਾਇਦ ਦੌਲਤਿ ਜਾਵੀਦ ਰੂ

चूँ नुमाइद दौलति जावीद रू

choo(n) numaidh dhaualat jaaveedh roo

When the divine eternal treasure shows Its face,


ਤੂ ਜ਼ ਹੱਕ ਬਾਸ਼ੀ ਵਾ ਹੱਕ ਬਾਸ਼ਦ ਜ਼ ਤੂ ॥ ੨੮੫ ॥

तू ज़ हक्क बाशी वा हक्क बाशद ज़ तू ॥ २८५ ॥

too z hak baashee vaa hak baashadh z too || 285 ||

You would then belong to Waaheguru and He would belong to you. (285)


ਬਰ ਦਿਲਤ ਗਰ ਪਰਤਵੇ ਹੱਕ ਬਰਫ਼ਗੰਦ

बर दिलत गर परतवे हक्क बरफ़गंद

bar dhilat gar paratave hak baraphaga(n)dh

If the shadow of Akaalpurakh falls on someone's heart and soul,


ਖ਼ਾਰਿ ਹਿਜਰਤ ਰਾ ਜ਼ ਪਾਇ ਦਿਲ ਕੁਨੰਦ ॥ ੨੮੬ ॥

ख़ारि हिजरत रा ज़ पाइ दिल कुनंद ॥ २८६ ॥

khhaar hijarat raa z pai dhil kuna(n)dh || 286 ||

Then take it that the painful thorn of separation has been extracted out of the foot (depth) of our mind. (286)


ਖ਼ਾਰਿ ਹਿਜਰ ਅਜ਼ ਪਾਇ ਦਿਲ ਚੂੰ ਦੂਰ ਸ਼ੁਦ

ख़ारि हिजर अज़ पाइ दिल चूँ दूर शुद

khhaar hijar az pai dhil choo(n) dhoor shudh

When the thorn of separation has been removed from the feet of the heart,


ਖ਼ਾਨਾਇ ਦਿਲ ਅਜ਼ ਖ਼ੁਦਾ ਮਾਮੂਰ ਸ਼ੁਦ ॥ ੨੮੭ ॥

ख़ानाइ दिल अज़ ख़ुदा मामूर शुद ॥ २८७ ॥

khhaanai dhil az khhudhaa maamoor shudh || 287 ||

Take it then that the Akaalpurakh has made the temple of our heart as His abode. (287)


ਹਮਚੂ ਕਤਰਾ ਕੂ ਬਦਰਿਆ ਦਰ ਫ਼ਤਾਦ

हमचू कतरा कू बदरिआ दर फ़ताद

hamachoo kataraa koo badhariaa dhar phataadh

Like that drop of water that fell into a river or ocean, giving up its own identity (showing humility),


ਐਨ ਦਰਿਆ ਗਸ਼ਤੋ ਵਸਲਸ਼ ਦਸਤਦਾਦ ॥ ੨੮੮ ॥

ऐन दरिआ गशतो वसलश दसतदाद ॥ २८८ ॥

aain dhariaa gashato vasalash dhasatadhaadh || 288 ||

It itself became the river and the ocean; (thus falling on the feet of Aakaalpurakh), and convergence with Him took place. (288)


ਕਤਰਾ ਚੂੰ ਸ਼ੁਦ ਬਦਰਿਆ ਆਸ਼ਨਾ

कतरा चूँ शुद बदरिआ आशना

kataraa choo(n) shudh badhariaa aashanaa

Once the drop merges into the ocean,


ਬਾਅਦ ਅਜ਼ਾਂ ਤਫ਼ਰੀਕ ਨਤਵਾਂ ਸ਼ੁਦ ਜ਼ ਜਾ ॥ ੨੮੯ ॥

बाअद अज़ाँ तफ़रीक नतवाँ शुद ज़ जा ॥ २८९ ॥

baadh azaa(n) taphareek natavaa(n) shudh z jaa || 289 ||

After that, it cannot be separated from the ocean. (289)


ਕਤਰਾ ਚੂੰ ਜਾਨਿਬਿ ਦਰਿਆ ਸ਼ਤਾਫ਼ਤ

कतरा चूँ जानिबि दरिआ शताफ़त

kataraa choo(n) jaanib dhariaa shataaphat

When the drop started to rush in the direction of the ocean,


ਅਜ਼ ਰਹਿ ਤਫ਼ਰੀਕ ਖ਼ੁਦ ਰਾ ਕਤਰਾ ਯਾਫ਼ਤ ॥ ੨੯੦ ॥

अज़ रहि तफ़रीक ख़ुद रा कतरा याफ़त ॥ २९० ॥

az reh taphareek khhudh raa kataraa yaaphat || 290 ||

It, then, realized the significance of being just a drop of water. (290)


ਕਤਰਾ ਰਾ ਈਂ ਦੌਲਤਿ ਚੂੰ ਦਸਤਦਾਦ

कतरा रा ईं दौलति चूँ दसतदाद

kataraa raa iee(n) dhaualat choo(n) dhasatadhaadh

When the drop was bestowed with this eternal meeting,


ਕਤਰਾ ਸ਼ੁਦ ਅੰਦਰ ਹਕੀਕਤ ਬਾ-ਮੁਰਾਦ ॥ ੨੯੧ ॥

कतरा शुद अंदर हकीकत बा-मुराद ॥ २९१ ॥

kataraa shudh a(n)dhar hakeekat baa-muraadh || 291 ||

The reality dawned on it, and its long-cherished desire was fulfilled. (291)


ਗੁਫ਼ਤ ਮਨ ਯੱਕ ਕਤਰਾ ਆਬੀ ਬੂਦਾ ਅਮ

गुफ़त मन यक्क कतरा आबी बूदा अम

guphat man yak kataraa aabee boodhaa am

The droplet said, "Even though I am a small drop of water,


ਪੈਹਨਿ ਦਰਿਆ ਰਾ ਚੁਨਾਂ ਪੈਮੂਦਾ ਅਮ ॥ ੨੯੨ ॥

पैहनि दरिआ रा चुनाँ पैमूदा अम ॥ २९२ ॥

paihan dhariaa raa chunaa(n) paimoodhaa am || 292 ||

I have been able to measure the expanse of this huge ocean." (292)


ਗਰ ਮਰਾ ਦਰ ਬਾਜ਼ ਰਾਹਿ ਲੁਤਫ਼ਿ ਖ਼ੇਸ਼

गर मरा दर बाज़ राहि लुतफ़ि ख़ेश

gar maraa dhar baaz raeh lutaph khhesh

If the ocean, out of its extreme kindness, would agree to take me in,


ਵਾਸਿਲ ਖ਼ੁਦ ਕਰਦ ਅਜ਼ ਅੰਦਾਜ਼ਾ ਬੇਸ਼ ॥ ੨੯੩ ॥

वासिल ख़ुद करद अज़ अंदाज़ा बेश ॥ २९३ ॥

vaasil khhudh karadh az a(n)dhaazaa besh || 293 ||

And, it agreed to merge me into itself even beyond its capacity; (293)


ਹਮਚੂ ਮੌਜ ਅਜ਼ ਪੈਹਨਿ ਦਰਿਆ ਰੂ ਨਮੂਦ

हमचू मौज अज़ पैहनि दरिआ रू नमूद

hamachoo mauaj az paihan dhariaa roo namoodh

And, it rose like a tidal wave out of the span of the ocean,


ਮੌਜ ਗਸ਼ਤ ਵਾ ਕਰਦ ਦਰਿਆ ਰਾ ਸਜੂਦ ॥ ੨੯੪ ॥

मौज गशत वा करद दरिआ रा सजूद ॥ २९४ ॥

mauaj gashat vaa karadh dhariaa raa sajoodh || 294 ||

It became another wave, and then bowed in reverence to the ocean. (294)


ਹਮ ਚੁਨਾਂ ਹਰ ਬੰਦਾ ਕੁ ਵਾਸਿਲ ਅਸਤ

हम चुनाँ हर बंदा कु वासिल असत

ham chunaa(n) har ba(n)dhaa k vaasil asat

In the same manner, every such person who had a confluence with the Almighty,


ਦਰ ਤਰੀਕਿ ਬੰਦਗੀ ਬਸ ਕਾਮਿਲ ਅਸਤ ॥ ੨੯੫ ॥

दर तरीकि बंदगी बस कामिल असत ॥ २९५ ॥

dhar tareek ba(n)dhagee bas kaamil asat || 295 ||

Became complete and perfect on the path of meditation. (295)


ਮੌਜੌ ਦਰਿਆ ਗਰ ਚਿ ਦਰ ਮਾਅਨੀ ਯਕੇਸਤ

मौजौ दरिआ गर चि दर माअनी यकेसत

mauajau dhariaa gar ch dhar maanee yakesat

In reality, a wave and the ocean are one and the same,


ਲੇਕ ਅੰਦਰ ਈਨੋ ਆਂ ਫ਼ਰਕੇ ਬਸੇਸਤ ॥ ੨੯੬ ॥

लेक अंदर ईनो आँ फ़रके बसेसत ॥ २९६ ॥

lek a(n)dhar ieeno aa(n) pharake basesat || 296 ||

But still there is a vast difference between them. (296)


ਮਨ ਯਕੇ ਮੌਜਮ ਤੂ ਬਹਿਰਿ ਬੇਕਰਾਂ

मन यके मौजम तू बहिरि बेकराँ

man yake mauajam too bahir bekaraa(n)

I am just a simple wave, while you are an enormously large ocean,


ਫ਼ਰਕ ਬਾਸ਼ਦ ਅਜ਼ ਜ਼ਮੀਨੋ ਆਸਮਾਂ ॥ ੨੯੭ ॥

फ़रक बाशद अज़ ज़मीनो आसमाँ ॥ २९७ ॥

pharak baashadh az zameeno aasamaa(n) || 297 ||

Thus, there is a big difference between you and me like that between the earth and the sky. (297)


ਮਨ ਨੀਅੱਮ ਈਂ ਜੁਮਲਾ ਅਜ਼ ਅਲਤਾਫ਼ਿ ਤੂ

मन नीअम्म ईं जुमला अज़ अलताफ़ि तू

man neeam iee(n) jumalaa az alataaph too

I am nothing; all this (that I am) is only because of your blessings,


ਮਨ ਯੱਕ ਮੌਜਮ ਜ਼ ਤਬਆਇ ਸਾਫ਼ਿ ਤੂ ॥ ੨੯੮ ॥

मन यक्क मौजम ज़ तबआइ साफ़ि तू ॥ २९८ ॥

man yak mauajam z tabaai saaph too || 298 ||

I am, too, one wave in Your vast manifest world. (298)


ਬਾ ਬਜ਼ੁਰਗਾਂ ਸੁਹਬਤੇ ਮੀ ਬਾਇਦਤ

बा बज़ुरगाँ सुहबते मी बाइदत

baa bazuragaa(n) suhabate mee baidhat

You would need the association with the noble persons,


ਅਜ਼ ਹੁਮਾ ਅੱਵਲ ਹਮੀਂ ਮੀ ਬਾਇਦਤ ॥ ੨੯੯ ॥

अज़ हुमा अव्वल हमीं मी बाइदत ॥ २९९ ॥

az humaa aval hamee(n) mee baidhat || 299 ||

This will be the first and the foremost thing that you will need. (299)


ਕਾਦਰਿ ਮੁਤਲਿਕ ਬਕੁਦਰਤ ਜ਼ਾਹਿਰ ਅਸਤ

कादरि मुतलिक बकुदरत ज़ाहिर असत

kaadhar mutalik bakudharat zaahir asat

That perfect and complete Creator is visible through His own creations,


ਦਰਮਿਆਨਿ ਕੁਦਰਤਿ ਖ਼ੁਦ ਕਾਦਰ ਅਸਤ ॥ ੩੦੦ ॥

दरमिआनि कुदरति ख़ुद कादर असत ॥ ३०० ॥

dharamiaan kudharat khhudh kaadhar asat || 300 ||

The Creator, in fact, abides amidst His own Nature and manifestations. (300)


ਕਾਦਰੋ ਕੁਦਰਤ ਬਹਮ ਆਮੇਖ਼ਤੰਦ

कादरो कुदरत बहम आमेख़तंद

kaadharo kudharat baham aamekhhata(n)dh

The Creator and His creations are one and the same,


ਆਂ ਮਤਾਇ ਗ਼ੈਰ ਹੱਕ ਰਾ ਰੇਖ਼ਤੰਦ ॥ ੩੦੧ ॥

आँ मताइ ग़ैर हक्क रा रेख़तंद ॥ ३०१ ॥

aa(n) matai g(h)air hak raa rekhhata(n)dh || 301 ||

They, the noble persons, renounce all material distractions except the Provident. (301)


ਪਸ ਤੁਰਾ ਹਮ ਬਾਇਦ ਐ ਯਾਰਿ ਅਜ਼ੀਜ਼

पस तुरा हम बाइद ऐ यारि अज़ीज़

pas turaa ham baidh aai yaar azeez

O my dear friend! Then you should also make a judgement and conclude,


ਹੱਕ ਕੁਦਾਮ ਵਾ ਤੂ ਕੁਦਾਮੀ ਕੁਨ ਤਮੀਜ਼ ॥ ੩੦੨ ॥

हक्क कुदाम वा तू कुदामी कुन तमीज़ ॥ ३०२ ॥

hak kudhaam vaa too kudhaamee kun tameez || 302 ||

As to who is God, and who you are, and how to distinguish between the two. (302)


ਗਰ ਤੂ ਵਾਸਿਲ ਗਸ਼ਤਾਈ ਦਰ ਜ਼ਾਤਿ ਊ

गर तू वासिल गशताई दर ज़ाति ऊ

gar too vaasil gashataiee dhar zaat uoo

If, in your pursuits, you happen to have a meeting with the Akaalpurakh.


ਗ਼ੈਰ ਹਰਫ਼ਿ ਬੰਦਗੀ ਦੀਗਰ ਮਗੂ ॥ ੩੦੩ ॥

ग़ैर हरफ़ि बंदगी दीगर मगू ॥ ३०३ ॥

g(h)air haraph ba(n)dhagee dheegar magoo || 303 ||

Then you should not utter any other word except the word of worship and meditation. (303)


ਈਂ ਹਮਾ ਅਜ਼ ਦੌਲਤਿ ਈਂ ਬੰਦਗੀਸਤ

ईं हमा अज़ दौलति ईं बंदगीसत

e'ee(n) hamaa az dhaualat iee(n) ba(n)dhageesat

All this tangible and non-tangible boons are because of the meditation,


ਜ਼ਿੰਦਗੀ ਬੇ-ਬੰਦਗੀ ਸ਼ਰਮਿੰਦਗਸਿਤ ॥ ੩੦੪ ॥

ज़िंदगी बे-बंदगी शरमिंदगसित ॥ ३०४ ॥

zi(n)dhagee be-ba(n)dhagee sharami(n)dhagasit || 304 ||

Without meditation, this life of ours is only mortification and humiliation. (304)


ਹੱਕ ਤਾਅਲਾ ਬੰਦਗੀ ਫ਼ਰਮੂਦਾ ਅਸਤ

हक्क ताअला बंदगी फ़रमूदा असत

hak taalaa ba(n)dhagee pharamoodhaa asat

The Almighty God has also said,


ਹਰ ਕਸੇ ਕੂ ਬੰਦਾ ਸ਼ੁਦ ਆਸੂਦਾ ਅਸਤ ॥ ੩੦੫ ॥

हर कसे कू बंदा शुद आसूदा असत ॥ ३०५ ॥

har kase koo ba(n)dhaa shudh aasoodhaa asat || 305 ||

"Anyone who transformed himself into a man of God is redeemed." (305)


ਚੂੰ ਅਨਅਲਹੱਕ ਬਰ ਜ਼ੁਬਾਂ ਇਜ਼ਹਾਰ ਕਰਦ

चूँ अनअलहक्क बर ज़ुबाँ इज़हार करद

choo(n) analahak bar zubaa(n) izahaar karadh

Anyone who proclaimed through his own mouth that he was God,


ਸ਼ਰਆ ਆਂ ਮਨਸੂਰ ਰਾ ਬਰ-ਦਾਰ ਕਰਦ ॥ ੩੦੬ ॥

शरआ आँ मनसूर रा बर-दार करद ॥ ३०६ ॥

sharaa aa(n) manasoor raa bara-dhaar karadh || 306 ||

The Islamic religious law crucified him just like Mansoor. (306)


ਮਸਤੀਏ ਹੱਕ ਮਾਅਨੀਇ ਹੁਸ਼ਿਆਰੀ ਅਸਤ

मसतीए हक्क माअनीइ हुशिआरी असत

masate'ee hak maaneei hushiaaree asat

Inebriated with God is, in fact, to be always in a state of alertness,


ਆਰਿਫ਼ਾਂ ਰਾ ਖ਼ਾਬ ਹਮ ਬੇਦਾਰੀ ਅਸਤ ॥ ੩੦੭ ॥

आरिफ़ाँ रा ख़ाब हम बेदारी असत ॥ ३०७ ॥

aariphaa(n) raa khhaab ham bedhaaree asat || 307 ||

Even dreaming while asleep for the knowledgeable is indeed like staying awake. (307)


ਦਰ ਹਕੀਕਤ ਬੇ-ਅਦਬ ਯਾਬਦ ਸਜ਼ਾ

दर हकीकत बे-अदब याबद सज़ा

dhar hakeekat be-adhab yaabadh sazaa

In reality, a disrespectful faces the consequences (reaps the fruits) of his own actions,


ਚੂੰ ਆਦਬ ਅਮਦ ਹਮਾ ਰਾ ਰਹਾਨੁਮਾ ॥ ੩੦੮ ॥

चूँ आदब अमद हमा रा रहानुमा ॥ ३०८ ॥

choo(n) aadhab amadh hamaa raa rahaanumaa || 308 ||

Because, it is the 'respect' and 'civility' that is capable of showing all the direction of the right path. (308)


ਗਰ ਤੂ ਸਰ ਤਾ ਪਾ ਹਮਾ ਹੱਕ ਗਸ਼ਤਾਈ

गर तू सर ता पा हमा हक्क गशताई

gar too sar taa paa hamaa hak gashataiee

If you have transformed yourself from head to toe into Akaalpurakh's form,


ਵਾਸਿਲਿ ਬੇ-ਚੂਨਿ ਮੁਤਲਿਕ ਗਸ਼ਤਾਈ ॥ ੩੦੯ ॥

वासिलि बे-चूनि मुतलिक गशताई ॥ ३०९ ॥

vaasil be-choon mutalik gashataiee || 309 ||

And, If you have merged into that unparalleled and matchless Waaheguru, (309)


ਬਾਜ਼ ਰਾਹਿ ਬੰਦਗੀ ਦਰ ਪੇਸ਼ ਗੀਰ

बाज़ राहि बंदगी दर पेश गीर

baaz raeh ba(n)dhagee dhar pesh geer

Then you should adopt the path of meditation,


ਬੰਦਾਇ ਊ ਬਾਸ਼ ਵਾ ਰਾਹਿ ਖੇਸ਼ ਗੀਰ ॥ ੩੧੦ ॥

बंदाइ ऊ बाश वा राहि खेश गीर ॥ ३१० ॥

ba(n)dhai uoo baash vaa raeh khesh geer || 310 ||

And, become His (favorite) person by holding on to the divine spiritual passage of meditation. (310)


ਦਰ ਹਮਾ ਹਾਲਤ ਖ਼ੁਦਾ ਹਾਜ਼ਰ ਬਬੀਂ

दर हमा हालत ख़ुदा हाज़र बबीं

dhar hamaa haalat khhudhaa haazar babee(n)

One should assume His presence under all circumstances,


ਹਾਜ਼ਿਰੋ ਨਾਜ਼ਿਰ ਹਮਾਂ ਨਾਜ਼ਿਰ ਬਬੀਂ ॥ ੩੧੧ ॥

हाज़िरो नाज़िर हमाँ नाज़िर बबीं ॥ ३११ ॥

haaziro naazir hamaa(n) naazir babee(n) || 311 ||

Considering Him Omnipresent and Immanent, and also take it that He is capable of seeing everything everywhere. (311)


ਦਰ ਰਾਹਿ ਹੱਕ ਜੁਜ਼ ਅਦਬ ਤਾਅਲੀਮ ਨੀਸਤ

दर राहि हक्क जुज़ अदब ताअलीम नीसत

dhar raeh hak juz adhab taaleem neesat

There is no education except that of respect and civility in the path of God,


ਤਾਲਿਬਿ ਊ ਰਾ ਬਜੁਜ਼ ਤਸਲੀਮ ਨੀਸਤ ॥ ੩੧੨ ॥

तालिबि ऊ रा बजुज़ तसलीम नीसत ॥ ३१२ ॥

taalib uoo raa bajuz tasaleem neesat || 312 ||

It is not prudent for His seeker-devotee to accept anything but His Order. (312)


ਤਾਲਿਬਾਨਿ ਹੱਕ ਹਮੇਸ਼ਾ ਬਾ ਅਦਬ

तालिबानि हक्क हमेशा बा अदब

taalibaan hak hameshaa baa adhab

The seekers of the Divine Spirit are always respectful,


ਬਾ ਅਦਬ ਬਾਸ਼ੰਦ ਅੰਦਰ ਯਾਦਿ ਰੱਬ ॥ ੩੧੩ ॥

बा अदब बाशंद अंदर यादि रब्ब ॥ ३१३ ॥

baa adhab baasha(n)dh a(n)dhar yaadh rab || 313 ||

They are also satiated with reverence while remembering Him. (313)


ਬੇਅਦਬ ਰਾ ਕੈ ਜ਼ਿ ਰਾਹਿ ਸ਼ਾਂ ਖ਼ਬਰ

बेअदब रा कै ज़ि राहि शाँ ख़बर

beadhab raa kai z raeh shaa(n) khhabar

What does an apostate know about the tradition of those noble persons?


ਬੇਅਦਬ ਅਜ਼ ਹੱਕ ਹਮੇਸ਼ਾਂ ਬੇ-ਅਸਰ ॥ ੩੧੪ ॥

बेअदब अज़ हक्क हमेशाँ बे-असर ॥ ३१४ ॥

beadhab az hak hameshaa(n) be-asar || 314 ||

The efforts of an atheist to get a glimpse of Akaalpurakh will always be ineffective. (314)


ਬੇਅਦਬ ਹਰਗਿਜ਼ ਬ-ਹੱਕ ਰਾਹਿ ਨਯਾਫ਼ਤ

बेअदब हरगिज़ ब-हक्क राहि नयाफ़त

beadhab haragiz ba-hak raeh nayaaphat

A disrespectful can never find the path leading towards the Divine Spirit;


ਰਾਹਿ ਹੱਕ ਰਾ ਰੀਚ ਗੁਮਰਾਹੇ ਨਯਾਫ਼ਤ ॥ ੩੧੫ ॥

राहि हक्क रा रीच गुमराहे नयाफ़त ॥ ३१५ ॥

raeh hak raa reech gumaraahe nayaaphat || 315 ||

No strayed person has ever been able to find the path of God and much less to reach Him. (315)


ਹਾਦੀਏ ਰਾਹਿ ਖ਼ੁਦਾ ਆਮਦ ਅਦਬ

हादीए राहि ख़ुदा आमद अदब

haadhe'ee raeh khhudhaa aamadh adhab

It is reverence that is the guide to the path of Waaheguru;


ਬੇ-ਅਦਬ ਖ਼ਾਲੀ-ਸਤ ਅਜ਼ ਅਲਤਾਫ਼ਿ ਰੱਬ ॥ ੩੧੬ ॥

बे-अदब ख़ाली-सत अज़ अलताफ़ि रब्ब ॥ ३१६ ॥

be-adhab khhaalee-sat az alataaph rab || 316 ||

And, an atheist remains blank from receiving His blessings. (316)


ਬੇ-ਅਦਬ ਰਾਹਿ ਖ਼ੁਦਾ ਕੈ ਦਾਨਦਸ਼

बे-अदब राहि ख़ुदा कै दानदश

be-adhab raeh khhudhaa kai dhaanadhash

How can an atheist find the way to the Almighty,


ਹਰ ਕਿਰਾ ਕਹਿਰਿ ਖ਼ੁਦਾ ਮੀਰਾਨਦਸ਼ ॥ ੩੧੭ ॥

हर किरा कहिरि ख़ुदा मीरानदश ॥ ३१७ ॥

har kiraa kahir khhudhaa meeraanadhash || 317 ||

Who has been condemned due to the anger of Waaheguru?(317)


ਦਰ ਪਨਾਹਿ ਸਾਇਆਇ ਮਰਦਾਨਿ ਹੱਕ

दर पनाहि साइआइ मरदानि हक्क

dhar panaeh saiaai maradhaan hak

If you care to seek the shelter (and agree to function in their shadow) of the noble souls of God,


ਗਰ ਰਵੀ ਆਂ ਜਾ ਅਦਬ ਯਾਬੀ ਸਬਕ ॥ ੩੧੮ ॥

गर रवी आँ जा अदब याबी सबक ॥ ३१८ ॥

gar ravee aa(n) jaa adhab yaabee sabak || 318 ||

You will receive teachings and instructions about respectability there. (318)


ਬੇ ਅਦਬ ਈਂਜਾ ਅਦਬ ਆਮੋਜ਼ ਸ਼ੁਦ

बे अदब ईंजा अदब आमोज़ शुद

be adhab iee(n)jaa adhab aamoz shudh

Coming to this place (of noble persons), even the apostates become capable to teach lessons of reverence,


ਈਂ ਚਰਾਗ਼ਿ ਗੁਲ ਜਹਾਂ ਅਫ਼ਰੋਜ਼ ਸ਼ੁਦ ॥ ੩੧੯ ॥

ईं चराग़ि गुल जहाँ अफ़रोज़ शुद ॥ ३१९ ॥

e'ee(n) charaag(h) gul jahaa(n) apharoz shudh || 319 ||

Here, even extinguished lamps begin to spread light throughout the world. (319)


ਐ ਖ਼ੁਦਾ ਹਰ ਬੇ ਅਦਬ ਰਾ ਦਿਹ ਅਦਬ

ऐ ख़ुदा हर बे अदब रा दिह अदब

aai khhudhaa har be adhab raa dheh adhab

O Akaalpurakh! Kindly bestow reverence even on the irreverent,


ਤਾ ਗੁਜ਼ਾਰਦ ਉਮਰ ਰਾ ਦਰ ਯਾਦਿ ਰੱਬ ॥ ੩੨੦ ॥

ता गुज़ारद उमर रा दर यादि रब्ब ॥ ३२० ॥

taa guzaaradh umar raa dhar yaadh rab || 320 ||

So that they can spend their lives in Your remembrance. (320)


ਗਰ ਬਯਾਬੀ ਲੱਜ਼ਤੇ ਅਜ਼ ਯਾਦਿ ਊ

गर बयाबी लज़्ज़ते अज़ यादि ऊ

gar bayaabee lazate az yaadh uoo

If you can relish the savor (sweet taste) of Waaheguru's remembrance,


ਜ਼ਿੰਦਾ ਬਾਸ਼ੀ ਦਾਇਮਾ ਐ ਨੇਕ-ਖੂ ॥ ੩੨੧ ॥

ज़िंदा बाशी दाइमा ऐ नेक-खू ॥ ३२१ ॥

zi(n)dhaa baashee dhaimaa aai neka-khoo || 321 ||

Then O good man! You can become immortal. (321)


ਈਂ ਵਜੂਦਿ ਖ਼ਾਕ ਰਾ ਕਾਇਮ ਬਦਾਂ

ईं वजूदि ख़ाक रा काइम बदाँ

e'ee(n) vajoodh khhaak raa kaim badhaa(n)

Consider this body of dirt as permanent for this reason


ਕਾਇਮ ਆਮਦ ਸ਼ੌਕਿ ਊ ਦਰ ਹਿਰਜ਼ਿ ਜਾਂ ॥ ੩੨੨ ॥

काइम आमद शौकि ऊ दर हिरज़ि जाँ ॥ ३२२ ॥

kaim aamadh shauak uoo dhar hiraz jaa(n) || 322 ||

Because the devotion for Him have established permanently in the fortress of your heart. (322)


ਸ਼ੌਕਿ ਮੌਲਾ ਜ਼ਿੰਦਗੀਏ ਜਾਂ ਬਵਦ

शौकि मौला ज़िंदगीए जाँ बवद

shauak maualaa zi(n)dhage'ee jaa(n) bavadh

The love and elation for Akaalpurakh are the life-line of the soul,


ਯਾਦਿ ਊ ਸਰਮਾਆਇ ਈਮਾਂ ਬਵਦ ॥ ੩੨੩ ॥

यादि ऊ सरमाआइ ईमाँ बवद ॥ ३२३ ॥

yaadh uoo saramaai ieemaa(n) bavadh || 323 ||

There is a wealth of faith and religion in His memory. (323)


ਸ਼ੌਕਿ ਊ ਦਰ ਹਰ ਦਿਲੇ ਕੈ ਜਾ ਕੁਨਦ

शौकि ऊ दर हर दिले कै जा कुनद

shauak uoo dhar har dhile kai jaa kunadh

How can the euphoria and elation for Waaheguru abide in every heart,


ਦਰ ਵਜੂਦਿ ਖ਼ਾਕ ਕੈ ਮਾਵਾ ਕੁਨਦ ॥ ੩੨੪ ॥

दर वजूदि ख़ाक कै मावा कुनद ॥ ३२४ ॥

dhar vajoodh khhaak kai maavaa kunadh || 324 ||

And, how can He take refuge in the body made up of dirt. (324)


ਸ਼ੌਕਿ ਮੌਲਾ ਮਰ ਤੁਰਾ ਚੂੰ ਦਸਤਦਾਦ

शौकि मौला मर तुरा चूँ दसतदाद

shauak maualaa mar turaa choo(n) dhasatadhaadh

When your fondness for Akaalpurakh supported you,


ਦੌਲਤਿ ਦਾਇਮ ਬਦਸਤਤ ਦਰ-ਫ਼ਤਾਦ ॥ ੩੨੫ ॥

दौलति दाइम बदसतत दर-फ़ताद ॥ ३२५ ॥

dhaualat dhaim badhasatat dhara-phataadh || 325 ||

Then, take it for granted that you will obtain control and have the divine eternal wealth. (325)


ਖ਼ਾਕਿ ਰਾਹਸ਼ ਸੁਰਮਾਇ ਸਰ ਅਸਤ

ख़ाकि राहश सुरमाइ सर असत

khhaak raahash suramai sar asat

The dust of His path is like a collyrium for our eyes and head,


ਆਰਿਫ਼ਾਂ ਰਾ ਬਿਹ ਜ਼ ਤਾਜ਼ੋ ਅਫ਼ਸਰ ਅਸਤ ॥ ੩੨੬ ॥

आरिफ़ाँ रा बिह ज़ ताज़ो अफ़सर असत ॥ ३२६ ॥

aariphaa(n) raa beh z taazo aphasar asat || 326 ||

This dust is much more valuable than the crown and the thrones for the enlightened. (326)


ਦੌਲਤਿ ਦੁਨਿਆ ਨਭਬਾਸ਼ਦ ਪਾਇਦਾਰ

दौलति दुनिआ नभबाशद पाइदार

dhaualat dhuniaa nabhabaashadh paidhaar

This worldly wealth is not ever lasting,


ਦਰ ਤਰੀਕਿ ਆਰਿਫ਼ਾਨਿ ਹੱਕ ਗੁਜ਼ਾਰ ॥ ੩੨੭ ॥

दर तरीकि आरिफ़ानि हक्क गुज़ार ॥ ३२७ ॥

dhar tareek aariphaan hak guzaar || 327 ||

You should accept this according to the verdict of the true devotees of God. (327)


ਯਾਦਿ ਊ ਲਾਜ਼ਿਮ ਬਵਦ ਦਾਇਮ ਤੁਰਾ

यादि ऊ लाज़िम बवद दाइम तुरा

yaadh uoo laazim bavadh dhaim turaa

Meditation of Waaheguru is always absolutely essential for you,


ਜ਼ਿਕਰਿ ਊ ਕਾਇਮ ਕੁਨਦ ਕਾਇਮ ਤੁਰਾ ॥ ੩੨੮ ॥

ज़िकरि ऊ काइम कुनद काइम तुरा ॥ ३२८ ॥

zikar uoo kaim kunadh kaim turaa || 328 ||

And, the discourse about Him makes you steady and immovable forever. (328)


ਆਰਿਫ਼ਾਂ ਦਾਰੰਦ ਬਾ ਇਰਫ਼ਾਨਿ ਖ਼ੇਸ਼

आरिफ़ाँ दारंद बा इरफ़ानि ख़ेश

aariphaa(n) dhaara(n)dh baa iraphaan khhesh

The devotees of Akaalpurakh are intimately connected to the divine knowledge,


ਹਾਸਲਿ ਇਰਫ਼ਾਂ ਦਰੂਨਿ ਜਾਨਿ ਖ਼ੇਸ਼ ॥ ੩੨੯ ॥

हासलि इरफ़ाँ दरूनि जानि ख़ेश ॥ ३२९ ॥

haasal iraphaa(n) dharoon jaan khhesh || 329 ||

And, the achievement of divine knowledge is completely absorbed inside their souls. (329)


ਮਸਨਦਿ ਸ਼ੌਕਿ ਇਲਾਹੀ ਬੇ-ਜ਼ਵਾਲ

मसनदि शौकि इलाही बे-ज़वाल

masanadh shauak ilaahee be-zavaal

The throne of devotion for Akaalpurakh is permanent and indestructible,


ਵਰਨਾ ਬੀਨੀ ਪੁਰ ਜ਼ਵਾਲੇ ਹਰ ਕਮਾਲ ॥ ੩੩੦ ॥

वरना बीनी पुर ज़वाले हर कमाल ॥ ३३० ॥

varanaa beenee pur zavaale har kamaal || 330 ||

Although every peak has a trough. (330)


ਬੇ-ਜ਼ਵਾਲ ਆਮਦ ਕਮਾਲਿ ਜ਼ੌਕਿ ਹੱਕ

बे-ज़वाल आमद कमालि ज़ौकि हक्क

be-zavaal aamadh kamaal zauak hak

The marvel of the zest for God's love is eternal and non-destructible,


ਤਾ ਕਿ ਯਾਬਦ ਜ਼ੱਰਾ ਅਜ਼ ਸ਼ੌਕਿ ਹੱਕ ॥ ੩੩੧ ॥

ता कि याबद ज़र्रा अज़ शौकि हक्क ॥ ३३१ ॥

taa k yaabadh zaraa az shauak hak || 331 ||

Wish were it that we can get just one particle of His devotion. (331)


ਹਰ ਕਸੇ ਕੂ ਯਾਫ਼ਤ ਊ ਜਾਵੀਦ ਸ਼ੁਦ

हर कसे कू याफ़त ऊ जावीद शुद

har kase koo yaaphat uoo jaaveedh shudh

Whosoever is lucky enough to obtain such a particle, he becomes immortal,


ਦਰ ਹਕੀਕਤ ਸਾਹਿਬਿ ਉਮੀਦ ਸ਼ੁਦ ॥ ੩੩੨ ॥

दर हकीकत साहिबि उमीद शुद ॥ ३३२ ॥

dhar hakeekat saahib umeedh shudh || 332 ||

In reality, his desire (to meet with Akaalpurakh) is fulfilled. (332)


ਚੂੰ ਉਮੀਦਸ਼ ਸੂਰਤਿ ਹਾਸਲ ਗ੍ਰਿਫ਼ਤ

चूँ उमीदश सूरति हासल गृफ़त

choo(n) umeedhash soorat haasal giraphat

When he reached the stage of fulfillment,


ਜ਼ੱਰਾ ਅਜ਼ ਸ਼ੌਕ ਜਾ ਦਰ ਦਿਲ ਗ੍ਰਿਫ਼ਤ ॥ ੩੩੩ ॥

ज़र्रा अज़ शौक जा दर दिल गृफ़त ॥ ३३३ ॥

zaraa az shauak jaa dhar dhil giraphat || 333 ||

That particle of the strong desire for His devotion gets seeded into his heart. (333)


ਆਬਿ ਹੈਵਾਂ ਮੀਚਕਦ ਅਜ਼ ਮੂਇ ਊ

आबि हैवाँ मीचकद अज़ मूइ ऊ

aab haivaa(n) meechakadh az mooi uoo

The divine nectar oozes out of his every hair,


ਜ਼ਿੰਦਾ ਮੀਗਰਦਦ ਜਹਾਂ ਅਜ਼ ਬੂਇ ਊ ॥ ੩੩੪ ॥

ज़िंदा मीगरदद जहाँ अज़ बूइ ऊ ॥ ३३४ ॥

zi(n)dhaa meegaradhadh jahaa(n) az booi uoo || 334 ||

And the whole world, with his aroma, becomes alive and rises up. (334)


ਐ ਜ਼ਹੇ ਇਮਸਾਨ ਕਿ ਹੱਕ ਰਾ ਯਾਫ਼ਤਾ

ऐ ज़हे इमसान कि हक्क रा याफ़ता

aai zahe imasaan k hak raa yaaphataa

Fortunate is that person who has attained the Provident;


ਰੂ ਜ਼ ਯਾਦਿ ਗੈਰਿ ਹੱਕ ਬਰ-ਤਾਫ਼ਤਾ ॥ ੩੩੫ ॥

रू ज़ यादि गैरि हक्क बर-ताफ़ता ॥ ३३५ ॥

roo z yaadh gair hak bara-taaphataa || 335 ||

And, who has turned himself away (detached) from every worldly items except the memory of God. (335)


ਦਰ ਲਿਬਾਸਿ ਦੁਨਿਯਵੀ ਫ਼ਾਰਿਗ਼ ਅਜ਼ਾਂ

दर लिबासि दुनियवी फ़ारिग़ अज़ाँ

dhar libaas dhuniyavee phaarig(h) azaa(n)

Even while living in worldly guise, he is detached from every materialistic thing,


ਹਮਚੂ ਜ਼ਾਤਿਸ਼ ਆਸ਼ਿਕਾਂ ਰਾ ਊ ਨਿਹਾਂ ॥ ੩੩੬ ॥

हमचू ज़ातिश आशिकाँ रा ऊ निहाँ ॥ ३३६ ॥

hamachoo zaatish aashikaa(n) raa uoo nihaa(n) || 336 ||

Like the Entity of God, he maintains a hidden profile. (336)


ਜ਼ਾਹਿਰਿਸ਼ ਦਰ ਕੈਦਿ ਮੁਸ਼ਤਿ ਖ਼ਾਕ ਹਸਤ

ज़ाहिरिश दर कैदि मुशति ख़ाक हसत

zaahirish dhar kaidh mushat khhaak hasat

Outwardly he might be appearing to be in the grip of a fistful of dust,


ਬਾਤਨਿ ਊ ਬਾ ਖ਼ੁਦਾਇ ਪਾਕ ਹਸਤ ॥ ੩੩੭ ॥

बातनि ऊ बा ख़ुदाइ पाक हसत ॥ ३३७ ॥

baatan uoo baa khhudhai paak hasat || 337 ||

Inwardly, he is always engaged in talking about the chaste Akaalpurakh and abides with Him. (337)


ਜ਼ਾਹਿਰ ਅੰਦਰ ਮਾਇਲਿ ਫਰਜ਼ੰਦੋ ਜ਼ਨ

ज़ाहिर अंदर माइलि फरज़ंदो ज़न

zaahir a(n)dhar mail faraza(n)dho zan

Outwardly, he might appear to be immersed in love for his child and wife,


ਦਰ ਹਕੀਕਤ ਬਾ ਖ਼ੁਦਾਇ ਖ਼ੇਸ਼ਤਨ ॥ ੩੩੮ ॥

दर हकीकत बा ख़ुदाइ ख़ेशतन ॥ ३३८ ॥

dhar hakeekat baa khhudhai khheshatan || 338 ||

In reality, he always abides (in thought and action) with his God. (338)


ਜ਼ਾਹਿਰ ਅੰਦਰ ਮਾਇਲਿ ਹਿਰਸੋ ਹਵਾ

ज़ाहिर अंदर माइलि हिरसो हवा

zaahir a(n)dhar mail hiraso havaa

Outwardly, he might seem to be inclined towards 'desires and greed',


ਬਾਤਨਿ ਊ ਪਾਕ ਅਜ਼ ਯਾਦਿ ਖ਼ੁਦਾ ॥ ੩੩੯ ॥

बातनि ऊ पाक अज़ यादि ख़ुदा ॥ ३३९ ॥

baatan uoo paak az yaadh khhudhaa || 339 ||

But inwardly, he remains chaste and sacred in the memory of Waaheguru. (339)


ਜ਼ਾਹਿਰ ਅੰਦਰ ਮਾਇਲਿ ਅਸਪੋ ਸ਼ੁਤਰ

ज़ाहिर अंदर माइलि असपो शुतर

zaahir a(n)dhar mail asapo shutar

Outwardly, he might appear to be paying attention to horses and camels,


ਬਾਤਨਸ਼ ਫ਼ਾਰਿਗ਼ ਜ਼ ਕੈਦਿ ਸ਼ੋਰੋ ਸ਼ਰ ॥ ੩੪੦ ॥

बातनश फ़ारिग़ ज़ कैदि शोरो शर ॥ ३४० ॥

baatanash phaarig(h) z kaidh shoro shar || 340 ||

But inwardly, he remains detached from the worldly hub-hub and noises. (340)


ਜ਼ਾਹਿਰ ਅੰਦਰ ਮਾਇਲਿ ਸੀਮੋ ਜ਼ਰ ਅਸਤ

ज़ाहिर अंदर माइलि सीमो ज़र असत

zaahir a(n)dhar mail seemo zar asat

He might appear to be involved in gold and silver outwardly,


ਬਾਤਨ ਅੰਦਰ ਸਾਹਿਬਿ ਬਹਿਰੋ ਬਰ ਅਸਤ ॥ ੩੪੧ ॥

बातन अंदर साहिबि बहिरो बर असत ॥ ३४१ ॥

baatan a(n)dhar saahib bahiro bar asat || 341 ||

But he is, in fact, master of land and water inwardly. (341)


ਰਫ਼ਤਾ ਰਫ਼ਤਾ ਬਾਤਨਸ਼ ਜ਼ਾਹਿਰ ਸ਼ੁਦਾ

रफ़ता रफ़ता बातनश ज़ाहिर शुदा

raphataa raphataa baatanash zaahir shudhaa

His intrinsic worth gets revealed slowly and gradually,


ਦਰ ਹਕੀਕਤ ਤਿਬਲਾਇ ਅੰਬਰ ਸ਼ੁਦਾ ॥ ੩੪੨ ॥

दर हकीकत तिबलाइ अंबर शुदा ॥ ३४२ ॥

dhar hakeekat tibalai a(n)bar shudhaa || 342 ||

In fact, he becomes a casket of fragrance. (342)


ਜ਼ਾਹਿਰੋ ਬਾਤਨ ਸ਼ੁਦਾ ਯਕਸਾਨਿ ਊ

ज़ाहिरो बातन शुदा यकसानि ऊ

zaahiro baatan shudhaa yakasaan uoo

His internal and external selves become one and the same,


ਹਰ ਦੋ ਆਲਮ ਬੰਦਾਇ ਫ਼ਰਮਾਨਿ ਊ ॥ ੩੪੩ ॥

हर दो आलम बंदाइ फ़रमानि ऊ ॥ ३४३ ॥

har dho aalam ba(n)dhai pharamaan uoo || 343 ||

Both the worlds become followers of his command. (343)


ਹਮ ਬਦਿਲ ਯਾਦਿ ਖ਼ੁਦਾ ਵਾ ਰਾ ਜ਼ੁਬਾਂ

हम बदिल यादि ख़ुदा वा रा ज़ुबाँ

ham badhil yaadh khhudhaa vaa raa zubaa(n)

His heart and tongue are completely immersed in Akaalpurkh's remembrance at all times and for ever,


ਈਂ ਜ਼ੁਬਾਨਸ਼ ਦਿਲ ਸ਼ੁਦਾ ਦਿਲ ਸ਼ੁਦ ਜ਼ੁਬਾਂ ॥ ੩੪੪ ॥

ईं ज़ुबानश दिल शुदा दिल शुद ज़ुबाँ ॥ ३४४ ॥

e'ee(n) zubaanash dhil shudhaa dhil shudh zubaa(n) || 344 ||

His tongue becomes his heart, and his heart his tongue. (344)


ਵਾਸਿਲਾਨਿ ਹੱਕ ਚੁਨੀਂ ਫ਼ਰਮੂਦਾ ਅੰਦ

वासिलानि हक्क चुनीं फ़रमूदा अंद

vaasilaan hak chunee(n) pharamoodhaa a(n)dh

Those saintly souls who have converged with God have said clearly,


ਬੰਦਾ ਹਾ ਦਰ ਬੰਦਗੀ ਆਸੂਦਾ ਅੰਦ ॥ ੩੪੫ ॥

बंदा हा दर बंदगी आसूदा अंद ॥ ३४५ ॥

ba(n)dhaa haa dhar ba(n)dhagee aasoodhaa a(n)dh || 345 ||

"That persons of God remain comfortable and happy while they are in meditation." (345)


ਸਾਹਿਬੀ ਬਾਸ਼ਦ ਮੁਸੱਲਮ ਸ਼ਾਹ ਰਾ

साहिबी बाशद मुसल्लम शाह रा

saahibee baashadh musalam shaeh raa

The mastery and splendor of our True King, the Waaheguru, is well known,


ਕੁਰਨਸ਼ਿ ਮਨ ਸਾਲਿਕਿ ਈਂ ਰਾਹ ਰਾ ॥ ੩੪੬ ॥

कुरनशि मन सालिकि ईं राह रा ॥ ३४६ ॥

kuranash man saalik iee(n) raeh raa || 346 ||

I bow before the pedestrian who is walking on this path. (346)


ਸਾਲਾਕਿ ਈਂ ਰਾਹ ਬਮੰਜ਼ਲ ਰਾਹ ਯਾਫ਼ਤ

सालाकि ईं राह बमंज़ल राह याफ़त

saalaak iee(n) raeh bama(n)zal raeh yaaphat

The traveler on this path arrived at his destination,


ਹਾਸਿਲਿ ਉਮਰਿ ਦਿਲ ਆਗਾਹ ਯਾਫ਼ਤ ॥ ੩੪੭ ॥

हासिलि उमरि दिल आगाह याफ़त ॥ ३४७ ॥

haasil umar dhil aagaeh yaaphat || 347 ||

And, his heart became familiar with the real purpose and attainment of life. (347)


ਬੰਦਾ ਹਾ ਰਾ ਬੰਦਗੀ ਦਰਕਾਰ ਹਸਤ

बंदा हा रा बंदगी दरकार हसत

ba(n)dhaa haa raa ba(n)dhagee dharakaar hasat

Persons of God really need only His meditation,


ਜਾਮਿ ਸ਼ੌਕਿ ਬੰਦਗੀ ਸਰਸ਼ਾਰ ਹਸਤ ॥ ੩੪੮ ॥

जामि शौकि बंदगी सरशार हसत ॥ ३४८ ॥

jaam shauak ba(n)dhagee sarashaar hasat || 348 ||

And, the cup of the pleasure and elation of meditation continues to overflow for ever. (348)


ਸਾਹਿਬੀ ਜ਼ੇਬਦ ਖ਼ੁਦਾਇ ਪਾਕ ਰਾ

साहिबी ज़ेबद ख़ुदाइ पाक रा

saahibee zebadh khhudhai paak raa

The Mastery (of all creations in this world) is befitting and looks elegant only for the true and the chaste Master, the Akaalpurakh;


ਆਂ ਕਿ ਜ਼ੀਨਤ ਦਾਦ ਮੁਸ਼ਤਿ ਖ਼ਾਕ ਰਾ ॥ ੩੪੯ ॥

आँ कि ज़ीनत दाद मुशति ख़ाक रा ॥ ३४९ ॥

aa(n) k zeenat dhaadh mushat khhaak raa || 349 ||

And, it is Him alone who has blessed this fistful of dust the gaiety and prosperity. (349)


ਸ਼ੌਕ ਅਜ਼ ਯਾਦਿ ਹੱਕਸ਼ ਮੁਮਤਾਜ਼ ਕਰਦ

शौक अज़ यादि हक्कश मुमताज़ करद

shauak az yaadh hakash mumataaz karadh

The fondness to remember the Waaheguru blessed him with prominence,
