ओअंकारि अकारु करि पउणु पाणी बैसंतरु धारे ।

oankaar akaar kar paun paanee baisantar dhaare |

Oankar transforming into forms, created air, water and fire.

ਧਰਤਿ ਅਕਾਸ ਵਿਛੋੜਿਅਨੁ ਚੰਦੁ ਸੂਰੁ ਦੇ ਜੋਤਿ ਸਵਾਰੇ ।

धरति अकास विछोड़िअनु चंदु सूरु दे जोति सवारे ।

dharat akaas vichhorrian chand soor de jot savaare |

Then separating earth and sky, He threw two flames of sun and moon in between them.

khaanee chaar bandhaan kar lakh chauraaseeh joon duaare |

Further creating the four mines of life, He created 84 lakh species.

ਇਕਸ ਇਕਸ ਜੂਨਿ ਵਿਚਿ ਜੀਅ ਜੰਤ ਅਣਗਣਤ ਅਪਾਰੇ ।

eikas ikas joon vich jeea jant anaganat apaare |

In each species further are born myriads of creatures.

ਮਾਣਸ ਜਨਮੁ ਦੁਲੰਭੁ ਹੈ ਸਫਲ ਜਨਮੁ ਗੁਰ ਸਰਣ ਉਧਾਰੇ ।

माणस जनमु दुलंभु है सफल जनमु गुर सरण उधारे ।

maanas janam dulanbh hai safal janam gur saran udhaare |

Among them all, the human birth is the rare one. One should, in this very birth, liberate himself by surrendering before the Guru.

One must go to holy congregation; the consciousness should be merged in the word of the Guru and cultivating loving devotion, one should undertake to follow the path shown by the Guru.

The earth is the most humble, which eschewing ego is firm and steady.

धीरजु धरमु संतोखु द्रिड़ु पैरा हेठि रहै लिव लीणी ।

dheeraj dharam santokh drirr pairaa hetth rahai liv leenee |

Deeply rooted in fortitude, dharma and contentment, it remains tranquil under the feet.

ਸਾਧ ਜਨਾ ਦੇ ਚਰਣ ਛੁਹਿ ਆਢੀਣੀ ਹੋਈ ਲਾਖੀਣੀ ।

साध जना दे चरण छुहि आढीणी होई लाखीणी ।

saadh janaa de charan chhuhi aadteenee hoee laakheenee |

Touching the holy feet of the saints, it earlier being worth half a penny now becomes worth lakhs.

ਅੰਮ੍ਰਿਤ ਬੂੰਦ ਸੁਹਾਵਣੀ ਛਹਬਰ ਛਲਕ ਰੇਣੁ ਹੋਇ ਰੀਣੀ ।

अंम्रित बूंद सुहावणी छहबर छलक रेणु होइ रीणी ।

amrit boond suhaavanee chhahabar chhalak ren hoe reenee |

In the rain of love, the earth gets satiated with delight.

ਮਿਲਿਆ ਮਾਣੁ ਨਿਮਾਣੀਐ ਪਿਰਮ ਪਿਆਲਾ ਪੀਇ ਪਤੀਣੀ ।

मिलिआ माणु निमाणीऐ पिरम पिआला पीइ पतीणी ।

miliaa maan nimaaneeai piram piaalaa pee pateenee |

Only the humble get adorned with glory and the earth, quaffing the cup of the love of the Lord gets satiated.

ਜੋ ਬੀਜੈ ਸੋਈ ਲੁਣੈ ਸਭ ਰਸ ਕਸ ਬਹੁ ਰੰਗ ਰੰਗੀਣੀ ।

जो बीजै सोई लुणै सभ रस कस बहु रंग रंगीणी ।

jo beejai soee lunai sabh ras kas bahu rang rangeenee |

Amongst variegated flora, sweet and bitter tastes, and colors on earth, one reaps whatever one sows.

माणस देह सु खेह है तिसु विचि जीभै लई नकीबी ।

maanas deh su kheh hai tis vich jeebhai lee nakeebee |

Human body is like ashes but in it, the tongue is admirable (for its benefits).

ਅਖੀ ਦੇਖਨਿ ਰੂਪ ਰੰਗ ਰਾਗ ਨਾਦ ਕੰਨ ਕਰਨਿ ਰਕੀਬੀ ।

अखी देखनि रूप रंग राग नाद कंन करनि रकीबी ।

akhee dekhan roop rang raag naad kan karan rakeebee |

The eyes behold forms and colors, and the ears take care of the sounds - musical and otherwise.

ਨਕਿ ਸੁਵਾਸੁ ਨਿਵਾਸੁ ਹੈ ਪੰਜੇ ਦੂਤ ਬੁਰੀ ਤਰਤੀਬੀ ।

नकि सुवासु निवासु है पंजे दूत बुरी तरतीबी ।

nak suvaas nivaas hai panje doot buree tarateebee |

Nose is the abode of smell and thus all these five couriers (of the body) remain indulged in these pleasures (and become futile).

ਸਭ ਦੂੰ ਨੀਵੇ ਚਰਣ ਹੋਇ ਆਪੁ ਗਵਾਇ ਨਸੀਬੁ ਨਸੀਬੀ ।

सभ दूं नीवे चरण होइ आपु गवाइ नसीबु नसीबी ।

sabh doon neeve charan hoe aap gavaae naseeb naseebee |

Among these all, the feet are placed at the lowest level and they repudiating ego are fortunate.

ਹਉਮੈ ਰੋਗੁ ਮਿਟਾਇਦਾ ਸਤਿਗੁਰ ਪੂਰਾ ਕਰੈ ਤਬੀਬੀ ।

हउमै रोगु मिटाइदा सतिगुर पूरा करै तबीबी ।

haumai rog mittaaeidaa satigur pooraa karai tabeebee |

The true Guru by giving treatment removes the malady of ego.

पैरी पै रहिरास करि गुर सिख सुणि गुरसिख मनीबी ।

pairee pai rahiraas kar gur sikh sun gurasikh maneebee |

The true disciples of the Guru touch the feet and bow and abide by the instructions of the Guru.

The smallest finger is respected and adorned by making it wear the ring.

ਲਹੁੜੀ ਘਨਹਰ ਬੂੰਦ ਹੁਇ ਪਰਗਟੁ ਮੋਤੀ ਸਿਪ ਸਮਾਈ ।

लहुड़ी घनहर बूंद हुइ परगटु मोती सिप समाई ।

lahurree ghanahar boond hue paragatt motee sip samaaee |

The drop from the cloud is small but the same drop getting into the mouth of shell becomes pearl.

ਲਹੁੜੀ ਬੂਟੀ ਕੇਸਰੈ ਮਥੈ ਟਿਕਾ ਸੋਭਾ ਪਾਈ ।

लहुड़ी बूटी केसरै मथै टिका सोभा पाई ।

lahurree boottee kesarai mathai ttikaa sobhaa paaee |

The plant of saffron is small one but the same adorns the forehead in the form of religious mark.

ਲਹੁੜੀ ਪਾਰਸ ਪਥਰੀ ਅਸਟ ਧਾਤੁ ਕੰਚਨੁ ਕਰਵਾਈ ।

लहुड़ी पारस पथरी असट धातु कंचनु करवाई ।

lahurree paaras patharee asatt dhaat kanchan karavaaee |

The philosopher’s stone is small but transforms alloy of eight metals into gold.

ਜਿਉ ਮਣਿ ਲਹੁੜੇ ਸਪ ਸਿਰਿ ਦੇਖੈ ਲੁਕਿ ਲੁਕਿ ਲੋਕ ਲੁਕਾਈ ।

जिउ मणि लहुड़े सप सिरि देखै लुकि लुकि लोक लुकाई ।

jiau man lahurre sap sir dekhai luk luk lok lukaaee |

In the head of small snake, remains the jewel, which people behold in wonder.

ਜਾਣਿ ਰਸਾਇਣੁ ਪਾਰਿਅਹੁ ਰਤੀ ਮੁਲਿ ਨ ਜਾਇ ਮੁਲਾਈ ।

jaan rasaaein paariahu ratee mul na jaae mulaaee |

From mercury is prepared elixir which is invaluable.

Those who eschew ego, never allow themselves to be noticed.

अगि तती जलु सीअरा कितु अवगुणि कितु गुण वीचारा ।

ag tatee jal seearaa kit avagun kit gun veechaaraa |

It is a matter worth pondering as to how fire is hot and water is cold.

ਅਗੀ ਧੂਆ ਧਉਲਹਰੁ ਜਲੁ ਨਿਰਮਲ ਗੁਰ ਗਿਆਨ ਸੁਚਾਰਾ ।

अगी धूआ धउलहरु जलु निरमल गुर गिआन सुचारा ।

agee dhooaa dhaulahar jal niramal gur giaan suchaaraa |

The fire soils the building by its smoke and water cleanses it. This fact requires the guidance of Guru.

ਕੁਲ ਦੀਪਕੁ ਬੈਸੰਤਰਹੁ ਜਲ ਕੁਲ ਕਵਲੁ ਵਡੇ ਪਰਵਾਰਾ ।

kul deepak baisantarahu jal kul kaval vadde paravaaraa |

In the family and dynasty of fire is lamp, and to water belongs a bigger family of lotus.

ਦੀਪਕ ਹੇਤੁ ਪਤੰਗ ਦਾ ਕਵਲੁ ਭਵਰ ਪਰਗਟੁ ਪਾਹਾਰਾ ।

दीपक हेतु पतंग दा कवलु भवर परगटु पाहारा ।

deepak het patang daa kaval bhavar paragatt paahaaraa |

This is well known all over the world that moth loves fire (and gets burnt) and black bee loves lotus (and rests in it).

ਅਗੀ ਲਾਟ ਉਚਾਟ ਹੈ ਸਿਰੁ ਉਚਾ ਕਰਿ ਕਰੈ ਕੁਚਾਰਾ ।

अगी लाट उचाट है सिरु उचा करि करै कुचारा ।

agee laatt uchaatt hai sir uchaa kar karai kuchaaraa |

The flame of fire goes up and like an egotist behaves viciously.

ਸਿਰੁ ਨੀਵਾ ਨੀਵਾਣਿ ਵਾਸੁ ਪਾਣੀ ਅੰਦਰਿ ਪਰਉਪਕਾਰਾ ।

सिरु नीवा नीवाणि वासु पाणी अंदरि परउपकारा ।

sir neevaa neevaan vaas paanee andar praupakaaraa |

Water goes towards low level and has qualities of altruism.

rang majeetth kasunbh daa kachaa pakaa kit veechaare |

Why madder is the fast color and safflower is temporary color.

ਧਰਤੀ ਉਖਣਿ ਕਢੀਐ ਮੂਲ ਮਜੀਠ ਜੜੀ ਜੜਤਾਰੇ ।

dharatee ukhan kadteeai mool majeetth jarree jarrataare |

The roots of madder spread in earth, it is first brought out and put into the pit and is pounded with wooden pestles.

ਉਖਲ ਮੁਹਲੇ ਕੁਟੀਐ ਪੀਹਣਿ ਪੀਸੈ ਚਕੀ ਭਾਰੇ ।

उखल मुहले कुटीऐ पीहणि पीसै चकी भारे ।

aukhal muhale kutteeai peehan peesai chakee bhaare |

Then it is crushed into a heavy mill.

ਸਹੈ ਅਵੱਟਣੁ ਅੱਗਿ ਦਾ ਹੋਇ ਪਿਆਰੀ ਮਿਲੈ ਪਿਆਰੇ ।

सहै अवटणु अगि दा होइ पिआरी मिलै पिआरे ।

sahai avattan ag daa hoe piaaree milai piaare |

It further suffers the pain of getting boiled and decorated in water and then only it adorns (with fast color) the clothes of the beloved.

ਪੋਹਲੀਅਹੁ ਸਿਰੁ ਕਢਿ ਕੈ ਫੁਲੁ ਕਸੁੰਭ ਚਲੁੰਭ ਖਿਲਾਰੇ ।

पोहलीअहु सिरु कढि कै फुलु कसुंभ चलुंभ खिलारे ।

pohaleeahu sir kadt kai ful kasunbh chalunbh khilaare |

The safflower comes up from the upper portion of the thorny weed Carthamus tinctoria and yields its deep color.

ਖਟ ਤੁਰਸੀ ਦੇ ਰੰਗੀਐ ਕਪਟ ਸਨੇਹੁ ਰਹੈ ਦਿਹ ਚਾਰੇ ।

खट तुरसी दे रंगीऐ कपट सनेहु रहै दिह चारे ।

khatt turasee de rangeeai kapatt sanehu rahai dih chaare |

Adding tart in it, the clothes are dyed, and they remain dyed only for a few days.

ਨੀਵਾ ਜਿਣੈ ਉਚੇਰਾ ਹਾਰੇ ।੬।

नीवा जिणै उचेरा हारे ।६।

कीड़ी निकड़ी चलित करि भ्रिंगी नो मिलि भ्रिंगी होवै ।

keerree nikarree chalit kar bhringee no mil bhringee hovai |

Small ant becomes bhringi (a kind of buzzing bee) by keeping company with it.

ਨਿਕੜੀ ਦਿਸੈ ਮਕੜੀ ਸੂਤੁ ਮੁਹਹੁ ਕਢਿ ਫਿਰਿ ਸੰਗੋਵੈ ।

निकड़ी दिसै मकड़ी सूतु मुहहु कढि फिरि संगोवै ।

nikarree disai makarree soot muhahu kadt fir sangovai |

Apparently, the spider looks to be small, but it brings out and swallows (hundred meters of) yarn.

ਨਿਕੜੀ ਮਖਿ ਵਖਾਣੀਐ ਮਾਖਿਓ ਮਿਠਾ ਭਾਗਠੁ ਹੋਵੈ ।

nikarree makh vakhaaneeai maakhio mitthaa bhaagatth hovai |

Honey-bee is small one but its sweet honey is sold by merchants.

ਨਿਕੜਾ ਕੀੜਾ ਆਖੀਐ ਪਟ ਪਟੋਲੇ ਕਰਿ ਢੰਗ ਢੋਵੈ ।

निकड़ा कीड़ा आखीऐ पट पटोले करि ढंग ढोवै ।

nikarraa keerraa aakheeai patt pattole kar dtang dtovai |

Silkworm is little one but the clothes made by its fiber are worn and offered on the occasions of marriage and other ceremonies.

ਗੁਟਕਾ ਮੁਹ ਵਿਚਿ ਪਾਇ ਕੈ ਦੇਸ ਦਿਸੰਤ੍ਰਿ ਜਾਇ ਖੜੋਵੈ ।

गुटका मुह विचि पाइ कै देस दिसंत्रि जाइ खड़ोवै ।

guttakaa muh vich paae kai des disantr jaae kharrovai |

Yogis putting the small magic ball in their mouth become invisible and go in the far-off places undetected.

ਮੋਤੀ ਮਾਣਕ ਹੀਰਿਆ ਪਾਤਿਸਾਹੁ ਲੈ ਹਾਰੁ ਪਰੋਵੈ ।

मोती माणक हीरिआ पातिसाहु लै हारु परोवै ।

motee maanak heeriaa paatisaahu lai haar parovai |

Strings of small pearls and gems are worn by kings and emperors.

ਪਾਇ ਸਮਾਇਣੁ ਦਹੀ ਬਿਲੋਵੈ ।੭।

पाइ समाइणु दही बिलोवै ।७।

Further, the curd is made by mixing a small quantity of rennet into milk (and thus butter is obtained).

lataan hetth lataarreeai ghaahu na kadtai saahu vichaaraa |

Grass is trampled under feet, yet the poor thing never complains.

ਗੋਰਸੁ ਦੇ ਖੜੁ ਖਾਇ ਕੈ ਗਾਇ ਗਰੀਬੀ ਪਰਉਪਕਾਰਾ ।

गोरसु दे खड़ु खाइ कै गाइ गरीबी परउपकारा ।

goras de kharr khaae kai gaae gareebee praupakaaraa |

The cow while eating grass remains altruist and gives milk to the poor.

ਦੁਧਹੁ ਦਹੀ ਜਮਾਈਐ ਦਈਅਹੁ ਮਖਣੁ ਛਾਹਿ ਪਿਆਰਾ ।

दुधहु दही जमाईऐ दईअहु मखणु छाहि पिआरा ।

dudhahu dahee jamaaeeai deeahu makhan chhaeh piaaraa |

From milk is made curd and then from curd, butter and delicious buttermilk etc. are prepared.

ਘਿਅ ਤੇ ਹੋਵਨਿ ਹੋਮ ਜਗ ਢੰਗ ਸੁਆਰਥ ਚਜ ਅਚਾਰਾ ।

घिअ ते होवनि होम जग ढंग सुआरथ चज अचारा ।

ghia te hovan hom jag dtang suaarath chaj achaaraa |

It is crushed between two cylinderical rollers because of its sweet juice.

In the holy congregation, merging consciousness in the Word and eschewing ego, the mind is tranquilized.

ਮਨ ਜਿਣਿ ਮਨੁ ਦੇ ਲਏ ਮਨ ਗੁਣਿ ਵਿਚਿ ਗੁਣ ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿ ਸਰੀਰੈ ।

मन जिणि मनु दे लए मन गुणि विचि गुण गुरमुखि सरीरै ।

man jin man de le man gun vich gun guramukh sareerai |

Conquering the mind, one should surrender it (before the Guru) and adopt the virtues of gurmukhs, the Guru oriented ones.

ਪੈਰੀ ਪੈ ਪਾ ਖਾਕੁ ਹੋਇ ਕਾਮਧੇਨੁ ਸੰਤ ਰੇਣੁ ਨ ਨੀਰੈ ।

पैरी पै पा खाकु होइ कामधेनु संत रेणु न नीरै ।

pairee pai paa khaak hoe kaamadhen sant ren na neerai |

He ought to fall on the feet of saints because even the wish-granting cow (Kamadhenu) is not equal to the dust of the feet of saints.

ਸਿਲਾ ਅਲੂਣੀ ਚਟਣੀ ਲਖ ਅੰਮ੍ਰਿਤ ਰਸ ਤਰਸਨ ਸੀਰੈ ।

सिला अलूणी चटणी लख अंम्रित रस तरसन सीरै ।

silaa aloonee chattanee lakh amrit ras tarasan seerai |

This act is nothing but licking of the tasteless stone, though myriad tastes of sweet juices one strives for.

gur sikhee gurasikh sun andar siaanaa baahar bholaa |

Listening to the teachings of the Guru, the Sikh becomes wise internally, though apparently, he looks a simpleton.

सबदि सुरति सावधान होइ विणु गुर सबदि न सुणई बोला ।

sabad surat saavadhaan hoe vin gur sabad na sunee bolaa |

He, with full care, keeps his consciousness attuned to the Word and listens to nothing except the words of Guru.

ਸਤਿਗੁਰ ਦਰਸਨੁ ਦੇਖਣਾ ਸਾਧਸੰਗਤਿ ਵਿਣੁ ਅੰਨ੍ਹਾ ਖੋਲਾ ।

सतिगुर दरसनु देखणा साधसंगति विणु अंन्हा खोला ।

satigur darasan dekhanaa saadhasangat vin anhaa kholaa |

He beholds the true Guru and without the company of the saints feels himself blind and deaf.

ਵਾਹਗੁਰੂ ਗੁਰੁ ਸਬਦੁ ਲੈ ਪਿਰਮ ਪਿਆਲਾ ਚੁਪਿ ਚਬੋਲਾ ।

वाहगुरू गुरु सबदु लै पिरम पिआला चुपि चबोला ।

vaahaguroo gur sabad lai piram piaalaa chup chabolaa |

The Guru's word he receives is Vahiguru, the wondrous Lord, and remains silently immersed in delight.

ਪੈਰੀ ਪੈ ਪਾ ਖਾਕ ਹੋਇ ਚਰਣਿ ਧੋਇ ਚਰਣੋਦਕ ਝੋਲਾ ।

पैरी पै पा खाक होइ चरणि धोइ चरणोदक झोला ।

pairee pai paa khaak hoe charan dhoe charanodak jholaa |

He bows on the feet and becoming (humble) like dust goes on quaffing the nectar of the feet (of the Lord).

ਚਰਣ ਕਵਲ ਚਿਤੁ ਭਵਰੁ ਕਰਿ ਭਵਜਲ ਅੰਦਰਿ ਰਹੈ ਨਿਰੋਲਾ ।

चरण कवल चितु भवरु करि भवजल अंदरि रहै निरोला ।

charan kaval chit bhavar kar bhavajal andar rahai nirolaa |

He remains involved like black bee in the lotus feet (of the Guru) and thus living in this world ocean remains unsmeared (by its water and dust).

ਜੀਵਣਿ ਮੁਕਤਿ ਸਚਾਵਾ ਚੋਲਾ ।੧੭।

जीवणि मुकति सचावा चोला ।१७।

His is life of a liberated one during the life on earth i.e. he is jivan-mukt.

ਸਿਰਿ ਵਿਚਿ ਨਿਕੈ ਵਾਲ ਹੋਇ ਸਾਧੂ ਚਰਣ ਚਵਰ ਕਰਿ ਢਾਲੈ ।

सिरि विचि निकै वाल होइ साधू चरण चवर करि ढालै ।

sir vich nikai vaal hoe saadhoo charan chavar kar dtaalai |

Preparing the whisk of even the hair of one's head (the gurmukh), one should wave it on the feet of the saints i.e. he should be extremely humble.

ਗੁਰ ਸਰ ਤੀਰਥ ਨਾਇ ਕੈ ਅੰਝੂ ਭਰਿ ਭਰਿ ਪੈਰਿ ਪਖਾਲੈ ।

गुर सर तीरथ नाइ कै अंझू भरि भरि पैरि पखालै ।

gur sar teerath naae kai anjhoo bhar bhar pair pakhaalai |

Bathing in the pilgrimage place, he should wash the feet of the Guru with tears of love.

ਕਾਲੀ ਹੂੰ ਧਉਲੇ ਕਰੇ ਚਲਾ ਜਾਣਿ ਨੀਸਾਣੁ ਸਮ੍ਹਾਲੈ ।

काली हूं धउले करे चला जाणि नीसाणु सम्हालै ।

kaalee hoon dhaule kare chalaa jaan neesaan samhaalai |

From black, his hair may turn grey but then considering his time to go (from this world), he should cherish in his heart the symbol (love) of the Lord.

ਪੈਰੀ ਪੈ ਪਾ ਖਾਕ ਹੋਇ ਪੂਰਾ ਸਤਿਗੁਰੁ ਨਦਰਿ ਨਿਹਾਲੈ ।

पैरी पै पा खाक होइ पूरा सतिगुरु नदरि निहालै ।

pairee pai paa khaak hoe pooraa satigur nadar nihaalai |

When one, falling at the Guru's feet, becomes dust himself, i.e. totally deletes ego from his mind, the true Guru also then blesses and obliges him.

ਕਾਗ ਕੁਮੰਤਹੁੰ ਪਰਮ ਹੰਸੁ ਉਜਲ ਮੋਤੀ ਖਾਇ ਖਵਾਲੈ ।

काग कुमंतहुं परम हंसु उजल मोती खाइ खवालै ।

kaag kumantahun param hans ujal motee khaae khavaalai |

He should become swan and leave black wisdom of crow and should himself perform and get others perform pearl-like invaluable deeds.

ਵਾਲਹੁ ਨਿਕੀ ਆਖੀਐ ਗੁਰ ਸਿਖੀ ਸੁਣਿ ਗੁਰਸਿਖ ਪਾਲੈ ।

वालहु निकी आखीऐ गुर सिखी सुणि गुरसिख पालै ।

vaalahu nikee aakheeai gur sikhee sun gurasikh paalai |

The teachings of the Guru are subtler than the hair itself; the Sikh should always follow them.

ਗੁਰਸਿਖੁ ਲੰਘੈ ਪਿਰਮ ਪਿਆਲੈ ।੧੮।

The Sikhs of the Guru go across the world-ocean by virtue of their cup full of love.

gular andar bhunahanaa gular non brahamandd vakhaanai |

Fig is the cosmos for the insect living in it.

ਗੁਲਰ ਲਗਣਿ ਲਖ ਫਲ ਇਕ ਦੂ ਲਖ ਅਲਖ ਨ ਜਾਣੈ ।

गुलर लगणि लख फल इक दू लख अलख न जाणै ।

gular lagan lakh fal ik doo lakh alakh na jaanai |

But on tree, grow lakhs of fruits, which multiply further in numberless quantity.

ਲਖ ਲਖ ਬਿਰਖ ਬਗੀਚਿਅਹੁ ਲਖ ਬਗੀਚੇ ਬਾਗ ਬਬਾਣੈ ।

लख लख बिरख बगीचिअहु लख बगीचे बाग बबाणै ।

lakh lakh birakh bageechiahu lakh bageeche baag babaanai |

Gardens are there of lakhs of trees and likewise are lakhs of gardens in the world.

ਲਖ ਬਾਗ ਬ੍ਰਹਮੰਡ ਵਿਚਿ ਲਖ ਬ੍ਰਹਮੰਡ ਲੂਅ ਵਿਚਿ ਆਣੈ ।

लख बाग ब्रहमंड विचि लख ब्रहमंड लूअ विचि आणै ।

lakh baag brahamandd vich lakh brahamandd looa vich aanai |

Lakhs of universe are there in one small hair of God.

ਮਿਹਰਿ ਕਰੇ ਜੇ ਮਿਹਰਿਵਾਨੁ ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿ ਸਾਧਸੰਗਤਿ ਰੰਗੁ ਮਾਣੈ ।

मिहरि करे जे मिहरिवानु गुरमुखि साधसंगति रंगु माणै ।

mihar kare je miharivaan guramukh saadhasangat rang maanai |

If that kind God showers His grace, only then a gurmukh can enjoy the delight of the holy congregation (sadhsangat).

ਪੈਰੀ ਪੈ ਪਾ ਖਾਕੁ ਹੋਇ ਸਾਹਿਬੁ ਦੇ ਚਲੈ ਓਹੁ ਭਾਣੈ ।

पैरी पै पा खाकु होइ साहिबु दे चलै ओहु भाणै ।

pairee pai paa khaak hoe saahib de chalai ohu bhaanai |

Only then falling on the feet and becoming dust, the humble one can mold himself according to the divine Will (hukam) of the Lord.

ਹਉਮੈ ਜਾਇ ਤ ਜਾਇ ਸਿਞਾਣੈ ।੧੯।

हउमै जाइ त जाइ सिञाणै ।१९।

Only when ego is erased, this fact is realized and identified.

ਦੁਇ ਦਿਹਿ ਚੰਦੁ ਅਲੋਪੁ ਹੋਇ ਤਿਐ ਦਿਹ ਚੜ੍ਹਦਾ ਹੋਇ ਨਿਕਾ ।

दुइ दिहि चंदु अलोपु होइ तिऐ दिह चढ़दा होइ निका ।

due dihi chand alop hoe tiai dih charrhadaa hoe nikaa |

Remaining invisible for two days, on the third day, the moon is beholden in a small size.

ਉਠਿ ਉਠਿ ਜਗਤੁ ਜੁਹਾਰਦਾ ਗਗਨ ਮਹੇਸੁਰ ਮਸਤਕਿ ਟਿਕਾ ।

उठि उठि जगतु जुहारदा गगन महेसुर मसतकि टिका ।

autth utth jagat juhaaradaa gagan mahesur masatak ttikaa |

Supposed to adorn the forehead of Mahesa, people bow to it again and again.

ਸੋਲਹ ਕਲਾ ਸੰਘਾਰੀਐ ਸਫਲੁ ਜਨਮੁ ਸੋਹੈ ਕਲਿ ਇਕਾ ।

सोलह कला संघारीऐ सफलु जनमु सोहै कलि इका ।

solah kalaa sanghaareeai safal janam sohai kal ikaa |

When it has attained all the sixteen phases i.e. on the full moon night, it begins diminishing and again reaches the position of the first day. People now bow before it.

ਅੰਮ੍ਰਿਤ ਕਿਰਣਿ ਸੁਹਾਵਣੀ ਨਿਝਰੁ ਝਰੈ ਸਿੰਜੈ ਸਹਸਿਕਾ ।

अंम्रित किरणि सुहावणी निझरु झरै सिंजै सहसिका ।

amrit kiran suhaavanee nijhar jharai sinjai sahasikaa |

Nectar is sprinkled by its rays, and it irrigates all thirsty trees and fields.

ਸੀਤਲੁ ਸਾਂਤਿ ਸੰਤੋਖੁ ਦੇ ਸਹਜ ਸੰਜੋਗੀ ਰਤਨ ਅਮਿਕਾ ।

सीतलु सांति संतोखु दे सहज संजोगी रतन अमिका ।

seetal saant santokh de sehaj sanjogee ratan amikaa |

Peace, contentment and cool, these invaluable jewels are bestowed by it.

ਕਰੈ ਅਨੇਰਹੁ ਚਾਨਣਾ ਡੋਰ ਚਕੋਰ ਧਿਆਨੁ ਧਰਿ ਛਿਕਾ ।

karai anerahu chaananaa ddor chakor dhiaan dhar chhikaa |

In darkness, it spreads light and provides the thread of meditation to the chakor, the red legged partridge.

By becoming humble only, Dhruv could behold the Lord.

bhagat vachhal hoe bhettiaa maan nimaane aap divaaeaa |

God, affectionate to the devotees, also embraced him and egoless Dhruv attained the highest glory.

ਮਾਤ ਲੋਕ ਵਿਚਿ ਮੁਕਤਿ ਕਰਿ ਨਿਹਚਲੁ ਵਾਸੁ ਅਗਾਸਿ ਚੜਾਇਆ ।

मात लोक विचि मुकति करि निहचलु वासु अगासि चड़ाइआ ।

maat lok vich mukat kar nihachal vaas agaas charraaeaa |

In this mortal world, he was granted liberation and then a stable place in the sky was given to him.

chand sooraj tetees karorr paradakhanaa chaufer firaaeaa |

Moon, sun and all the 33 crores of angels, circumambulate and revolve around him.

ਵੇਦ ਪੁਰਾਣ ਵਖਾਣਦੇ ਪਰਗਟੁ ਕਰਿ ਪਰਤਾਪੁ ਜਣਾਇਆ ।

ved puraan vakhaanade paragatt kar parataap janaaeaa |

His magnificence has been clearly described in the Vedas and Puranas.

abigat gat at agam hai akath kathaa veechaar na aaeaa |

The story of that unmanifest Lord is extremely mystical, indescribable and beyond all thoughts.
