जिह प्रसादि सुनहि करन नाद ॥

Jih prsaadi sunahi karan naad ||

By His Grace, you listen to the sound current of the Naad.

ਜਿਹ ਪ੍ਰਸਾਦਿ ਪੇਖਹਿ ਬਿਸਮਾਦ ॥

जिह प्रसादि पेखहि बिसमाद ॥

Jih prsaadi pekhahi bisamaad ||

By His Grace, you behold amazing wonders.

ਜਿਹ ਪ੍ਰਸਾਦਿ ਬੋਲਹਿ ਅੰਮ੍ਰਿਤ ਰਸਨਾ ॥

जिह प्रसादि बोलहि अम्रित रसना ॥

Jih prsaadi bolahi ammmrit rasanaa ||

By His Grace, you speak ambrosial words with your tongue.

ਜਿਹ ਪ੍ਰਸਾਦਿ ਸੁਖਿ ਸਹਜੇ ਬਸਨਾ ॥

जिह प्रसादि सुखि सहजे बसना ॥

Jih prsaadi sukhi sahaje basanaa ||

By His Grace, you abide in peace and ease.

ਜਿਹ ਪ੍ਰਸਾਦਿ ਹਸਤ ਕਰ ਚਲਹਿ ॥

जिह प्रसादि हसत कर चलहि ॥

Jih prsaadi hasat kar chalahi ||

By His Grace, your hands move and work.

ਜਿਹ ਪ੍ਰਸਾਦਿ ਸੰਪੂਰਨ ਫਲਹਿ ॥

जिह प्रसादि स्मपूरन फलहि ॥

Jih prsaadi samppooran phalahi ||

By His Grace, you are completely fulfilled.

ਜਿਹ ਪ੍ਰਸਾਦਿ ਪਰਮ ਗਤਿ ਪਾਵਹਿ ॥

जिह प्रसादि परम गति पावहि ॥

Jih prsaadi param gati paavahi ||

By His Grace, you obtain the supreme status.

ਜਿਹ ਪ੍ਰਸਾਦਿ ਸੁਖਿ ਸਹਜਿ ਸਮਾਵਹਿ ॥

जिह प्रसादि सुखि सहजि समावहि ॥

Jih prsaadi sukhi sahaji samaavahi ||

By His Grace, you are absorbed into celestial peace.

ਐਸਾ ਪ੍ਰਭੁ ਤਿਆਗਿ ਅਵਰ ਕਤ ਲਾਗਹੁ ॥

ऐसा प्रभु तिआगि अवर कत लागहु ॥

Aisaa prbhu tiaagi avar kat laagahu ||

Why forsake God, and attach yourself to another?

ਗੁਰ ਪ੍ਰਸਾਦਿ ਨਾਨਕ ਮਨਿ ਜਾਗਹੁ ॥੬॥

गुर प्रसादि नानक मनि जागहु ॥६॥

Gur prsaadi naanak mani jaagahu ||6||

By Guru's Grace, O Nanak, awaken your mind! ||6||


ਜਿਹ ਪ੍ਰਸਾਦਿ ਤੂੰ ਪ੍ਰਗਟੁ ਸੰਸਾਰਿ ॥

जिह प्रसादि तूं प्रगटु संसारि ॥

Jih prsaadi toonn prgatu sanssaari ||

By His Grace, you are famous all over the world;

ਤਿਸੁ ਪ੍ਰਭ ਕਉ ਮੂਲਿ ਨ ਮਨਹੁ ਬਿਸਾਰਿ ॥

तिसु प्रभ कउ मूलि न मनहु बिसारि ॥

Tisu prbh kau mooli na manahu bisaari ||

Never forget God from your mind.

ਜਿਹ ਪ੍ਰਸਾਦਿ ਤੇਰਾ ਪਰਤਾਪੁ ॥

जिह प्रसादि तेरा परतापु ॥

Jih prsaadi teraa parataapu ||

By His Grace, you have prestige;

ਰੇ ਮਨ ਮੂੜ ਤੂ ਤਾ ਕਉ ਜਾਪੁ ॥

रे मन मूड़ तू ता कउ जापु ॥

Re man moo(rr) too taa kau jaapu ||

O foolish mind, meditate on Him!

ਜਿਹ ਪ੍ਰਸਾਦਿ ਤੇਰੇ ਕਾਰਜ ਪੂਰੇ ॥

जिह प्रसादि तेरे कारज पूरे ॥

Jih prsaadi tere kaaraj poore ||

By His Grace, your works are completed;

ਤਿਸਹਿ ਜਾਨੁ ਮਨ ਸਦਾ ਹਜੂਰੇ ॥

तिसहि जानु मन सदा हजूरे ॥

Tisahi jaanu man sadaa hajoore ||

O mind, know Him to be close at hand.

ਜਿਹ ਪ੍ਰਸਾਦਿ ਤੂੰ ਪਾਵਹਿ ਸਾਚੁ ॥

जिह प्रसादि तूं पावहि साचु ॥

Jih prsaadi toonn paavahi saachu ||

By His Grace, you find the Truth;

ਰੇ ਮਨ ਮੇਰੇ ਤੂੰ ਤਾ ਸਿਉ ਰਾਚੁ ॥

रे मन मेरे तूं ता सिउ राचु ॥

Re man mere toonn taa siu raachu ||

O my mind, merge yourself into Him.

ਜਿਹ ਪ੍ਰਸਾਦਿ ਸਭ ਕੀ ਗਤਿ ਹੋਇ ॥

जिह प्रसादि सभ की गति होइ ॥

Jih prsaadi sabh kee gati hoi ||

By His Grace, everyone is saved;

ਨਾਨਕ ਜਾਪੁ ਜਪੈ ਜਪੁ ਸੋਇ ॥੭॥

नानक जापु जपै जपु सोइ ॥७॥

Naanak jaapu japai japu soi ||7||

O Nanak, meditate, and chant His Chant. ||7||


ਆਪਿ ਜਪਾਏ ਜਪੈ ਸੋ ਨਾਉ ॥

आपि जपाए जपै सो नाउ ॥

Aapi japaae japai so naau ||

Those, whom He inspires to chant, chant His Name.

ਆਪਿ ਗਾਵਾਏ ਸੁ ਹਰਿ ਗੁਨ ਗਾਉ ॥

आपि गावाए सु हरि गुन गाउ ॥

Aapi gaavaae su hari gun gaau ||

Those, whom He inspires to sing, sing the Glorious Praises of the Lord.

ਪ੍ਰਭ ਕਿਰਪਾ ਤੇ ਹੋਇ ਪ੍ਰਗਾਸੁ ॥

प्रभ किरपा ते होइ प्रगासु ॥

Prbh kirapaa te hoi prgaasu ||

By God's Grace, enlightenment comes.

ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦਇਆ ਤੇ ਕਮਲ ਬਿਗਾਸੁ ॥

प्रभू दइआ ते कमल बिगासु ॥

Prbhoo daiaa te kamal bigaasu ||

By God's Kind Mercy, the heart-lotus blossoms forth.

ਪ੍ਰਭ ਸੁਪ੍ਰਸੰਨ ਬਸੈ ਮਨਿ ਸੋਇ ॥

प्रभ सुप्रसंन बसै मनि सोइ ॥

Prbh suprsann basai mani soi ||

When God is totally pleased, He comes to dwell in the mind.

ਪ੍ਰਭ ਦਇਆ ਤੇ ਮਤਿ ਊਤਮ ਹੋਇ ॥

प्रभ दइआ ते मति ऊतम होइ ॥

Prbh daiaa te mati utam hoi ||

By God's Kind Mercy, the intellect is exalted.

ਸਰਬ ਨਿਧਾਨ ਪ੍ਰਭ ਤੇਰੀ ਮਇਆ ॥

सरब निधान प्रभ तेरी मइआ ॥

Sarab nidhaan prbh teree maiaa ||

All treasures, O Lord, come by Your Kind Mercy.

ਆਪਹੁ ਕਛੂ ਨ ਕਿਨਹੂ ਲਇਆ ॥

आपहु कछू न किनहू लइआ ॥

Aapahu kachhoo na kinahoo laiaa ||

No one obtains anything by himself.

ਜਿਤੁ ਜਿਤੁ ਲਾਵਹੁ ਤਿਤੁ ਲਗਹਿ ਹਰਿ ਨਾਥ ॥

जितु जितु लावहु तितु लगहि हरि नाथ ॥

Jitu jitu laavahu titu lagahi hari naath ||

As You have delegated, so do we apply ourselves, O Lord and Master.

ਨਾਨਕ ਇਨ ਕੈ ਕਛੂ ਨ ਹਾਥ ॥੮॥੬॥

नानक इन कै कछू न हाथ ॥८॥६॥

Naanak in kai kachhoo na haath ||8||6||

O Nanak, nothing is in our hands. ||8||6||

ਅਗਮ ਅਗਾਧਿ ਪਾਰਬ੍ਰਹਮੁ ਸੋਇ ॥

अगम अगाधि पारब्रहमु सोइ ॥

Agam agaadhi paarabrhamu soi ||

Unapproachable and Unfathomable is the Supreme Lord God;

ਜੋ ਜੋ ਕਹੈ ਸੁ ਮੁਕਤਾ ਹੋਇ ॥

जो जो कहै सु मुकता होइ ॥

Jo jo kahai su mukataa hoi ||

Whoever speaks of Him shall be liberated.

ਸੁਨਿ ਮੀਤਾ ਨਾਨਕੁ ਬਿਨਵੰਤਾ ॥

सुनि मीता नानकु बिनवंता ॥

Suni meetaa naanaku binavanttaa ||

Listen, O friends, Nanak prays,

ਸਾਧ ਜਨਾ ਕੀ ਅਚਰਜ ਕਥਾ ॥੧॥

In the Company of the Holy, one's face becomes radiant.

ਸਾਧਸੰਗਿ ਮਲੁ ਸਗਲੀ ਖੋਤ ॥

साधसंगि मलु सगली खोत ॥

Saadhasanggi malu sagalee khot ||

In the Company of the Holy, all filth is removed.

ਸਾਧ ਕੈ ਸੰਗਿ ਮਿਟੈ ਅਭਿਮਾਨੁ ॥

साध कै संगि मिटै अभिमानु ॥

Saadh kai sanggi mitai abhimaanu ||

In the Company of the Holy, egotism is eliminated.

ਸਾਧ ਕੈ ਸੰਗਿ ਪ੍ਰਗਟੈ ਸੁਗਿਆਨੁ ॥

साध कै संगि प्रगटै सुगिआनु ॥

Saadh kai sanggi prgatai sugiaanu ||

In the Company of the Holy, spiritual wisdom is revealed.

ਸਾਧ ਕੈ ਸੰਗਿ ਬੁਝੈ ਪ੍ਰਭੁ ਨੇਰਾ ॥

साध कै संगि बुझै प्रभु नेरा ॥

Saadh kai sanggi bujhai prbhu neraa ||

In the Company of the Holy, God is understood to be near at hand.

ਸਾਧਸੰਗਿ ਸਭੁ ਹੋਤ ਨਿਬੇਰਾ ॥

साधसंगि सभु होत निबेरा ॥

Saadhasanggi sabhu hot niberaa ||

In the Company of the Holy, all conflicts are settled.

ਸਾਧ ਕੈ ਸੰਗਿ ਪਾਏ ਨਾਮ ਰਤਨੁ ॥

साध कै संगि पाए नाम रतनु ॥

Saadh kai sanggi paae naam ratanu ||

In the Company of the Holy, one obtains the jewel of the Naam.

ਸਾਧ ਕੈ ਸੰਗਿ ਏਕ ਊਪਰਿ ਜਤਨੁ ॥

साध कै संगि एक ऊपरि जतनु ॥

Saadh kai sanggi ek upari jatanu ||

In the Company of the Holy, one's efforts are directed toward the One Lord.

ਸਾਧ ਕੀ ਮਹਿਮਾ ਬਰਨੈ ਕਉਨੁ ਪ੍ਰਾਨੀ ॥

साध की महिमा बरनै कउनु प्रानी ॥

Saadh kee mahimaa baranai kaunu praanee ||

What mortal can speak of the Glorious Praises of the Holy?

ਨਾਨਕ ਸਾਧ ਕੀ ਸੋਭਾ ਪ੍ਰਭ ਮਾਹਿ ਸਮਾਨੀ ॥੧॥

नानक साध की सोभा प्रभ माहि समानी ॥१॥

Naanak saadh kee sobhaa prbh maahi samaanee ||1||

O Nanak, the glory of the Holy people merges into God. ||1||


ਸਾਧ ਕੈ ਸੰਗਿ ਅਗੋਚਰੁ ਮਿਲੈ ॥

साध कै संगि अगोचरु मिलै ॥

Saadh kai sanggi agocharu milai ||

In the Company of the Holy, one meets the Incomprehensible Lord.

ਸਾਧ ਕੈ ਸੰਗਿ ਸਦਾ ਪਰਫੁਲੈ ॥

साध कै संगि सदा परफुलै ॥

Saadh kai sanggi sadaa paraphulai ||

In the Company of the Holy, one flourishes forever.

ਸਾਧ ਕੈ ਸੰਗਿ ਆਵਹਿ ਬਸਿ ਪੰਚਾ ॥

साध कै संगि आवहि बसि पंचा ॥

Saadh kai sanggi aavahi basi pancchaa ||

In the Company of the Holy, the five passions are brought to rest.

ਸਾਧਸੰਗਿ ਅੰਮ੍ਰਿਤ ਰਸੁ ਭੁੰਚਾ ॥

साधसंगि अम्रित रसु भुंचा ॥

Saadhasanggi ammmrit rasu bhuncchaa ||

In the Company of the Holy, one enjoys the essence of ambrosia.

ਸਾਧਸੰਗਿ ਹੋਇ ਸਭ ਕੀ ਰੇਨ ॥

साधसंगि होइ सभ की रेन ॥

Saadhasanggi hoi sabh kee ren ||

In the Company of the Holy, one becomes the dust of all.

ਸਾਧ ਕੈ ਸੰਗਿ ਮਨੋਹਰ ਬੈਨ ॥

साध कै संगि मनोहर बैन ॥

Saadh kai sanggi manohar bain ||

In the Company of the Holy, one's speech is enticing.

ਸਾਧ ਕੈ ਸੰਗਿ ਨ ਕਤਹੂੰ ਧਾਵੈ ॥

साध कै संगि न कतहूं धावै ॥

Saadh kai sanggi na katahoonn dhaavai ||

In the Company of the Holy, the mind does not wander.

ਸਾਧਸੰਗਿ ਅਸਥਿਤਿ ਮਨੁ ਪਾਵੈ ॥

साधसंगि असथिति मनु पावै ॥

Saadhasanggi asathiti manu paavai ||

In the Company of the Holy, the mind becomes stable.

साध कै संगि माइआ ते भिंन ॥

In the Company of the Holy, all one's enemies become friends.

ਸਾਧੂ ਕੈ ਸੰਗਿ ਮਹਾ ਪੁਨੀਤ ॥

साधू कै संगि महा पुनीत ॥

Saadhoo kai sanggi mahaa puneet ||

In the Company of the Holy, there is great purity.

ਸਾਧਸੰਗਿ ਕਿਸ ਸਿਉ ਨਹੀ ਬੈਰੁ ॥

साधसंगि किस सिउ नही बैरु ॥

Saadhasanggi kis siu nahee bairu ||

In the Company of the Holy, no one is hated.

ਸਾਧ ਕੈ ਸੰਗਿ ਨ ਬੀਗਾ ਪੈਰੁ ॥

साध कै संगि न बीगा पैरु ॥

In the Company of the Holy, one's feet do not wander.

ਸਾਧ ਕੈ ਸੰਗਿ ਨਾਹੀ ਕੋ ਮੰਦਾ ॥

साध कै संगि नाही को मंदा ॥

Saadh kai sanggi naahee ko manddaa ||

In the Company of the Holy, no one seems evil.

ਸਾਧਸੰਗਿ ਜਾਨੇ ਪਰਮਾਨੰਦਾ ॥

साधसंगि जाने परमानंदा ॥

Saadhasanggi jaane paramaananddaa ||

In the Company of the Holy, supreme bliss is known.

साध कै संगि नाही हउ तापु ॥

In the Company of the Holy, the fever of ego departs.

ਸਾਧ ਕੈ ਸੰਗਿ ਤਜੈ ਸਭੁ ਆਪੁ ॥

साध कै संगि तजै सभु आपु ॥

Saadh kai sanggi tajai sabhu aapu ||

In the Company of the Holy, one renounces all selfishness.

ਆਪੇ ਜਾਨੈ ਸਾਧ ਬਡਾਈ ॥

आपे जानै साध बडाई ॥

Aape jaanai saadh badaaee ||

He Himself knows the greatness of the Holy.

ਨਾਨਕ ਸਾਧ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਬਨਿ ਆਈ ॥੩॥

नानक साध प्रभू बनि आई ॥३॥

Naanak saadh prbhoo bani aaee ||3||

O Nanak, the Holy are at one with God. ||3||


ਸਾਧ ਕੈ ਸੰਗਿ ਨ ਕਬਹੂ ਧਾਵੈ ॥

साध कै संगि न कबहू धावै ॥

Saadh kai sanggi na kabahoo dhaavai ||

In the Company of the Holy, the mind never wanders.

ਸਾਧ ਕੈ ਸੰਗਿ ਸਦਾ ਸੁਖੁ ਪਾਵੈ ॥

साध कै संगि सदा सुखु पावै ॥

In the Company of the Holy, one obtains everlasting peace.

Saadhasanggi basatu agochar lahai ||

In the Company of the Holy, one grasps the Incomprehensible.

ਸਾਧੂ ਕੈ ਸੰਗਿ ਅਜਰੁ ਸਹੈ ॥

साधू कै संगि अजरु सहै ॥

Saadhoo kai sanggi ajaru sahai ||

In the Company of the Holy, one can endure the unendurable.

ਸਾਧ ਕੈ ਸੰਗਿ ਬਸੈ ਥਾਨਿ ਊਚੈ ॥

साध कै संगि बसै थानि ऊचै ॥

Saadh kai sanggi basai thaani uchai ||

In the Company of the Holy, one abides in the loftiest place.

ਸਾਧੂ ਕੈ ਸੰਗਿ ਮਹਲਿ ਪਹੂਚੈ ॥

साधू कै संगि महलि पहूचै ॥

Saadhoo kai sanggi mahali pahoochai ||

In the Company of the Holy, one attains the Mansion of the Lord's Presence.

साध कै संगि द्रिड़ै सभि धरम ॥

In the Company of the Holy, one's Dharmic faith is firmly established.

साध कै संगि केवल पारब्रहम ॥

In the Company of the Holy, one dwells with the Supreme Lord God.

ਸਾਧ ਕੈ ਸੰਗਿ ਪਾਏ ਨਾਮ ਨਿਧਾਨ ॥

साध कै संगि पाए नाम निधान ॥

Saadh kai sanggi paae naam nidhaan ||

In the Company of the Holy, one obtains the treasure of the Naam.

ਨਾਨਕ ਸਾਧੂ ਕੈ ਕੁਰਬਾਨ ॥੪॥

नानक साधू कै कुरबान ॥४॥

Naanak saadhoo kai kurabaan ||4||

O Nanak, I am a sacrifice to the Holy. ||4||


ਸਾਧ ਕੈ ਸੰਗਿ ਸਭ ਕੁਲ ਉਧਾਰੈ ॥

साध कै संगि सभ कुल उधारै ॥

Saadh kai sanggi sabh kul udhaarai ||

In the Company of the Holy, all one's family is saved.

ਸਾਧਸੰਗਿ ਸਾਜਨ ਮੀਤ ਕੁਟੰਬ ਨਿਸਤਾਰੈ ॥

साधसंगि साजन मीत कुट्मब निसतारै ॥

Saadhasanggi saajan meet kutambb nisataarai ||

In the Company of the Holy, one's friends, acquaintances and relatives are redeemed.

ਸਾਧੂ ਕੈ ਸੰਗਿ ਸੋ ਧਨੁ ਪਾਵੈ ॥

साधू कै संगि सो धनु पावै ॥

Saadhoo kai sanggi so dhanu paavai ||

In the Company of the Holy, that wealth is obtained.

ਜਿਸੁ ਧਨ ਤੇ ਸਭੁ ਕੋ ਵਰਸਾਵੈ ॥

जिसु धन ते सभु को वरसावै ॥

Jisu dhan te sabhu ko varasaavai ||

Everyone benefits from that wealth.

ਸਾਧਸੰਗਿ ਧਰਮ ਰਾਇ ਕਰੇ ਸੇਵਾ ॥

साधसंगि धरम राइ करे सेवा ॥

Saadhasanggi dharam raai kare sevaa ||

In the Company of the Holy, the Lord of Dharma serves.

ਸਾਧ ਕੈ ਸੰਗਿ ਸੋਭਾ ਸੁਰਦੇਵਾ ॥

साध कै संगि सोभा सुरदेवा ॥

Saadh kai sanggi sobhaa suradevaa ||

In the Company of the Holy, the divine, angelic beings sing God's Praises.

ਸਾਧ ਕੈ ਸੰਗਿ ਨਹੀ ਕਛੁ ਘਾਲ ॥

साध कै संगि नही कछु घाल ॥

Saadh kai sanggi nahee kachhu ghaal ||

In the Company of the Holy, there is no suffering.

ਦਰਸਨੁ ਭੇਟਤ ਹੋਤ ਨਿਹਾਲ ॥

दरसनु भेटत होत निहाल ॥

Darasanu bhetat hot nihaal ||

The Blessed Vision of their Darshan brings a sublime, happy peace.

ਸਾਧ ਕੈ ਸੰਗਿ ਕਲੂਖਤ ਹਰੈ ॥

साध कै संगि कलूखत हरै ॥

Saadh kai sanggi kalookhat harai ||

In the Company of the Holy, blemishes are removed.

ਸਾਧ ਕੈ ਸੰਗਿ ਨਰਕ ਪਰਹਰੈ ॥

साध कै संगि नरक परहरै ॥

Saadh kai sanggi narak paraharai ||

In the Company of the Holy, hell is far away.

ਸਾਧ ਕੈ ਸੰਗਿ ਈਹਾ ਊਹਾ ਸੁਹੇਲਾ ॥

साध कै संगि ईहा ऊहा सुहेला ॥

Saadh kai sanggi eehaa uhaa suhelaa ||

In the Company of the Holy, one is happy here and hereafter.

ਸਾਧਸੰਗਿ ਬਿਛੁਰਤ ਹਰਿ ਮੇਲਾ ॥

साधसंगि बिछुरत हरि मेला ॥

Saadhasanggi bichhurat hari melaa ||

In the Company of the Holy, the separated ones are reunited with the Lord.

ਜੋ ਇਛੈ ਸੋਈ ਫਲੁ ਪਾਵੈ ॥

जो इछै सोई फलु पावै ॥

Jo ichhai soee phalu paavai ||

The fruits of one's desires are obtained.

ਸਾਧ ਕੈ ਸੰਗਿ ਨ ਬਿਰਥਾ ਜਾਵੈ ॥

साध कै संगि न बिरथा जावै ॥

Saadh kai sanggi na birathaa jaavai ||

In the Company of the Holy, no one goes empty-handed.

ਪਾਰਬ੍ਰਹਮੁ ਸਾਧ ਰਿਦ ਬਸੈ ॥

पारब्रहमु साध रिद बसै ॥

Paarabrhamu saadh rid basai ||

The Supreme Lord God dwells in the hearts of the Holy.

ਨਾਨਕ ਉਧਰੈ ਸਾਧ ਸੁਨਿ ਰਸੈ ॥੬॥

नानक उधरै साध सुनि रसै ॥६॥

Naanak udharai saadh suni rasai ||6||

O Nanak, listening to the sweet words of the Holy, one is saved. ||6||


ਸਾਧ ਕੈ ਸੰਗਿ ਸੁਨਉ ਹਰਿ ਨਾਉ ॥

साध कै संगि सुनउ हरि नाउ ॥

Saadh kai sanggi sunau hari naau ||

In the Company of the Holy, listen to the Name of the Lord.

ਸਾਧਸੰਗਿ ਹਰਿ ਕੇ ਗੁਨ ਗਾਉ ॥

साधसंगि हरि के गुन गाउ ॥

Saadhasanggi hari ke gun gaau ||

In the Company of the Holy, sing the Glorious Praises of the Lord.

ਸਾਧ ਕੈ ਸੰਗਿ ਨ ਮਨ ਤੇ ਬਿਸਰੈ ॥

साध कै संगि न मन ते बिसरै ॥

Saadh kai sanggi na man te bisarai ||

In the Company of the Holy, do not forget Him from your mind.

ਸਾਧਸੰਗਿ ਸਰਪਰ ਨਿਸਤਰੈ ॥

साधसंगि सरपर निसतरै ॥

Saadhasanggi sarapar nisatarai ||

In the Company of the Holy, you shall surely be saved.

ਸਾਧ ਕੈ ਸੰਗਿ ਲਗੈ ਪ੍ਰਭੁ ਮੀਠਾ ॥

साध कै संगि लगै प्रभु मीठा ॥

Saadh kai sanggi lagai prbhu meethaa ||

In the Company of the Holy, God seems very sweet.

ਸਾਧੂ ਕੈ ਸੰਗਿ ਘਟਿ ਘਟਿ ਡੀਠਾ ॥

साधू कै संगि घटि घटि डीठा ॥

Saadhoo kai sanggi ghati ghati deethaa ||

In the Company of the Holy, He is seen in each and every heart.

ਸਾਧਸੰਗਿ ਭਏ ਆਗਿਆਕਾਰੀ ॥

साधसंगि भए आगिआकारी ॥

Saadhasanggi bhae aagiaakaaree ||

In the Company of the Holy, we become obedient to the Lord.

ਸਾਧਸੰਗਿ ਗਤਿ ਭਈ ਹਮਾਰੀ ॥

साधसंगि गति भई हमारी ॥

Saadhasanggi gati bhaee hamaaree ||

In the Company of the Holy, we obtain the state of salvation.

ਸਾਧ ਕੈ ਸੰਗਿ ਮਿਟੇ ਸਭਿ ਰੋਗ ॥

साध कै संगि मिटे सभि रोग ॥

Saadh kai sanggi mite sabhi rog ||

In the Company of the Holy, all diseases are cured.

ਨਾਨਕ ਸਾਧ ਭੇਟੇ ਸੰਜੋਗ ॥੭॥

नानक साध भेटे संजोग ॥७॥

Naanak saadh bhete sanjjog ||7||

O Nanak, one meets with the Holy, by highest destiny. ||7||


ਸਾਧ ਕੀ ਮਹਿਮਾ ਬੇਦ ਨ ਜਾਨਹਿ ॥

साध की महिमा बेद न जानहि ॥

Saadh kee mahimaa bed na jaanahi ||

The glory of the Holy people is not known to the Vedas.

ਜੇਤਾ ਸੁਨਹਿ ਤੇਤਾ ਬਖਿਆਨਹਿ ॥

जेता सुनहि तेता बखिआनहि ॥

Jetaa sunahi tetaa bakhiaanahi ||

They can describe only what they have heard.

ਸਾਧ ਕੀ ਉਪਮਾ ਤਿਹੁ ਗੁਣ ਤੇ ਦੂਰਿ ॥

साध की उपमा तिहु गुण ते दूरि ॥

Saadh kee upamaa tihu gu(nn) te doori ||

The greatness of the Holy people is beyond the three qualities.

ਸਾਧ ਕੀ ਉਪਮਾ ਰਹੀ ਭਰਪੂਰਿ ॥

साध की उपमा रही भरपूरि ॥

Saadh kee upamaa rahee bharapoori ||

The greatness of the Holy people is all-pervading.

ਸਾਧ ਕੀ ਸੋਭਾ ਕਾ ਨਾਹੀ ਅੰਤ ॥

साध की सोभा का नाही अंत ॥

Saadh kee sobhaa kaa naahee antt ||

The glory of the Holy people has no limit.

ਸਾਧ ਕੀ ਸੋਭਾ ਸਦਾ ਬੇਅੰਤ ॥

साध की सोभा सदा बेअंत ॥

Saadh kee sobhaa sadaa beantt ||

The glory of the Holy people is infinite and eternal.

ਸਾਧ ਕੀ ਸੋਭਾ ਊਚ ਤੇ ਊਚੀ ॥

साध की सोभा ऊच ते ऊची ॥

Saadh kee sobhaa uch te uchee ||

The glory of the Holy people is the highest of the high.

ਸਾਧ ਕੀ ਸੋਭਾ ਮੂਚ ਤੇ ਮੂਚੀ ॥

साध की सोभा मूच ते मूची ॥

Saadh kee sobhaa mooch te moochee ||

The glory of the Holy people is the greatest of the great.

ਸਾਧ ਕੀ ਸੋਭਾ ਸਾਧ ਬਨਿ ਆਈ ॥

साध की सोभा साध बनि आई ॥

Saadh kee sobhaa saadh bani aaee ||

The glory of the Holy people is theirs alone;

ਨਾਨਕ ਸਾਧ ਪ੍ਰਭ ਭੇਦੁ ਨ ਭਾਈ ॥੮॥੭॥

नानक साध प्रभ भेदु न भाई ॥८॥७॥

Naanak saadh prbh bhedu na bhaaee ||8||7||

O Nanak, there is no difference between the Holy people and God. ||8||7||

ਮਨਿ ਸਾਚਾ ਮੁਖਿ ਸਾਚਾ ਸੋਇ ॥

मनि साचा मुखि साचा सोइ ॥

Mani saachaa mukhi saachaa soi ||

The True One is on his mind, and the True One is upon his lips.

ਅਵਰੁ ਨ ਪੇਖੈ ਏਕਸੁ ਬਿਨੁ ਕੋਇ ॥

अवरु न पेखै एकसु बिनु कोइ ॥

Avaru na pekhai ekasu binu koi ||

He sees only the One.

ਨਾਨਕ ਇਹ ਲਛਣ ਬ੍ਰਹਮ ਗਿਆਨੀ ਹੋਇ ॥੧॥

नानक इह लछण ब्रहम गिआनी होइ ॥१॥

Naanak ih lachha(nn) brham giaanee hoi ||1||

O Nanak, these are the qualities of the God-conscious being. ||1||

The God-conscious being is always unattached,

ਜੈਸੇ ਜਲ ਮਹਿ ਕਮਲ ਅਲੇਪ ॥

जैसे जल महि कमल अलेप ॥

Jaise jal mahi kamal alep ||

As the lotus in the water remains detached.

ਬ੍ਰਹਮ ਗਿਆਨੀ ਸਦਾ ਨਿਰਦੋਖ ॥

ब्रहम गिआनी सदा निरदोख ॥

Brham giaanee sadaa niradokh ||

The God-conscious being is always unstained,

ਜੈਸੇ ਸੂਰੁ ਸਰਬ ਕਉ ਸੋਖ ॥

जैसे सूरु सरब कउ सोख ॥

Jaise sooru sarab kau sokh ||

Like the sun, which gives its comfort and warmth to all.

ਬ੍ਰਹਮ ਗਿਆਨੀ ਕੈ ਦ੍ਰਿਸਟਿ ਸਮਾਨਿ ॥

ब्रहम गिआनी कै द्रिसटि समानि ॥

Brham giaanee kai drisati samaani ||

The God-conscious being looks upon all alike,

ਜੈਸੇ ਰਾਜ ਰੰਕ ਕਉ ਲਾਗੈ ਤੁਲਿ ਪਵਾਨ ॥

जैसे राज रंक कउ लागै तुलि पवान ॥

Jaise raaj rankk kau laagai tuli pavaan ||

Like the wind, which blows equally upon the king and the poor beggar.

ਬ੍ਰਹਮ ਗਿਆਨੀ ਕੈ ਧੀਰਜੁ ਏਕ ॥

ब्रहम गिआनी कै धीरजु एक ॥

Brham giaanee kai dheeraju ek ||

The God-conscious being has a steady patience,

ਜਿਉ ਬਸੁਧਾ ਕੋਊ ਖੋਦੈ ਕੋਊ ਚੰਦਨ ਲੇਪ ॥

जिउ बसुधा कोऊ खोदै कोऊ चंदन लेप ॥

Jiu basudhaa kou khodai kou chanddan lep ||

Like the earth, which is dug up by one, and anointed with sandal paste by another.

ਬ੍ਰਹਮ ਗਿਆਨੀ ਕਾ ਇਹੈ ਗੁਨਾਉ ॥

ब्रहम गिआनी का इहै गुनाउ ॥

Brham giaanee kaa ihai gunaau ||

This is the quality of the God-conscious being:

ਨਾਨਕ ਜਿਉ ਪਾਵਕ ਕਾ ਸਹਜ ਸੁਭਾਉ ॥੧॥

नानक जिउ पावक का सहज सुभाउ ॥१॥

Naanak jiu paavak kaa sahaj subhaau ||1||

O Nanak, his inherent nature is like a warming fire. ||1||


ਬ੍ਰਹਮ ਗਿਆਨੀ ਨਿਰਮਲ ਤੇ ਨਿਰਮਲਾ ॥

ब्रहम गिआनी निरमल ते निरमला ॥

Brham giaanee niramal te niramalaa ||

The God-conscious being is the purest of the pure;

ਜੈਸੇ ਮੈਲੁ ਨ ਲਾਗੈ ਜਲਾ ॥

जैसे मैलु न लागै जला ॥

Jaise mailu na laagai jalaa ||

Filth does not stick to water.

ਬ੍ਰਹਮ ਗਿਆਨੀ ਕੈ ਮਨਿ ਹੋਇ ਪ੍ਰਗਾਸੁ ॥

ब्रहम गिआनी कै मनि होइ प्रगासु ॥

Brham giaanee kai mani hoi prgaasu ||

The God-conscious being's mind is enlightened,

ਜੈਸੇ ਧਰ ਊਪਰਿ ਆਕਾਸੁ ॥

जैसे धर ऊपरि आकासु ॥

Jaise dhar upari aakaasu ||

Like the sky above the earth.

ਬ੍ਰਹਮ ਗਿਆਨੀ ਕੈ ਮਿਤ੍ਰ ਸਤ੍ਰੁ ਸਮਾਨਿ ॥

ब्रहम गिआनी कै मित्र सत्रु समानि ॥

Brham giaanee kai mitr satru samaani ||

To the God-conscious being, friend and foe are the same.

ਬ੍ਰਹਮ ਗਿਆਨੀ ਕੈ ਨਾਹੀ ਅਭਿਮਾਨ ॥

ब्रहम गिआनी कै नाही अभिमान ॥

Brham giaanee kai naahee abhimaan ||

The God-conscious being has no egotistical pride.

ਬ੍ਰਹਮ ਗਿਆਨੀ ਊਚ ਤੇ ਊਚਾ ॥

ब्रहम गिआनी ऊच ते ऊचा ॥

Brham giaanee uch te uchaa ||

The God-conscious being is the highest of the high.

ਮਨਿ ਅਪਨੈ ਹੈ ਸਭ ਤੇ ਨੀਚਾ ॥

मनि अपनै है सभ ते नीचा ॥

Mani apanai hai sabh te neechaa ||

Within his own mind, he is the most humble of all.

ਬ੍ਰਹਮ ਗਿਆਨੀ ਸੇ ਜਨ ਭਏ ॥

ब्रहम गिआनी से जन भए ॥

Brham giaanee se jan bhae ||

They alone become God-conscious beings,

ਨਾਨਕ ਜਿਨ ਪ੍ਰਭੁ ਆਪਿ ਕਰੇਇ ॥੨॥

नानक जिन प्रभु आपि करेइ ॥२॥

Naanak jin prbhu aapi karei ||2||

O Nanak, whom God Himself makes so. ||2||


ਬ੍ਰਹਮ ਗਿਆਨੀ ਸਗਲ ਕੀ ਰੀਨਾ ॥

ब्रहम गिआनी सगल की रीना ॥

Brham giaanee sagal kee reenaa ||

The God-conscious being is the dust of all.

ਆਤਮ ਰਸੁ ਬ੍ਰਹਮ ਗਿਆਨੀ ਚੀਨਾ ॥

आतम रसु ब्रहम गिआनी चीना ॥

Aatam rasu brham giaanee cheenaa ||

The God-conscious being knows the nature of the soul.

ਬ੍ਰਹਮ ਗਿਆਨੀ ਕੀ ਸਭ ਊਪਰਿ ਮਇਆ ॥

ब्रहम गिआनी की सभ ऊपरि मइआ ॥

Brham giaanee kee sabh upari maiaa ||

The God-conscious being shows kindness to all.

ਬ੍ਰਹਮ ਗਿਆਨੀ ਤੇ ਕਛੁ ਬੁਰਾ ਨ ਭਇਆ ॥

ब्रहम गिआनी ते कछु बुरा न भइआ ॥

Brham giaanee te kachhu buraa na bhaiaa ||

No evil comes from the God-conscious being.

ਬ੍ਰਹਮ ਗਿਆਨੀ ਸਦਾ ਸਮਦਰਸੀ ॥

ब्रहम गिआनी सदा समदरसी ॥

Brham giaanee sadaa samadarasee ||

The God-conscious being is always impartial.

ਬ੍ਰਹਮ ਗਿਆਨੀ ਕੀ ਦ੍ਰਿਸਟਿ ਅੰਮ੍ਰਿਤੁ ਬਰਸੀ ॥

ब्रहम गिआनी की द्रिसटि अम्रितु बरसी ॥

Brham giaanee kee drisati ammmritu barasee ||

Nectar rains down from the glance of the God-conscious being.

ਬ੍ਰਹਮ ਗਿਆਨੀ ਬੰਧਨ ਤੇ ਮੁਕਤਾ ॥

ब्रहम गिआनी बंधन ते मुकता ॥

Brham giaanee banddhan te mukataa ||

The God-conscious being is free from entanglements.

ਬ੍ਰਹਮ ਗਿਆਨੀ ਕੀ ਨਿਰਮਲ ਜੁਗਤਾ ॥

ब्रहम गिआनी की निरमल जुगता ॥

Brham giaanee kee niramal jugataa ||

The lifestyle of the God-conscious being is spotlessly pure.

ਬ੍ਰਹਮ ਗਿਆਨੀ ਕਾ ਭੋਜਨੁ ਗਿਆਨ ॥

ब्रहम गिआनी का भोजनु गिआन ॥

Brham giaanee kaa bhojanu giaan ||

Spiritual wisdom is the food of the God-conscious being.

ਨਾਨਕ ਬ੍ਰਹਮ ਗਿਆਨੀ ਕਾ ਬ੍ਰਹਮ ਧਿਆਨੁ ॥੩॥

नानक ब्रहम गिआनी का ब्रहम धिआनु ॥३॥

Naanak brham giaanee kaa brham dhiaanu ||3||

O Nanak, the God-conscious being is absorbed in God's meditation. ||3||


ਬ੍ਰਹਮ ਗਿਆਨੀ ਏਕ ਊਪਰਿ ਆਸ ॥

ब्रहम गिआनी एक ऊपरि आस ॥

Brham giaanee ek upari aas ||

The God-conscious being centers his hopes on the One alone.

ਬ੍ਰਹਮ ਗਿਆਨੀ ਕਾ ਨਹੀ ਬਿਨਾਸ ॥

ब्रहम गिआनी का नही बिनास ॥

Brham giaanee kaa nahee binaas ||

The God-conscious being shall never perish.

ਬ੍ਰਹਮ ਗਿਆਨੀ ਕੈ ਗਰੀਬੀ ਸਮਾਹਾ ॥

ब्रहम गिआनी कै गरीबी समाहा ॥

Brham giaanee kai gareebee samaahaa ||

The God-conscious being is steeped in humility.

ਬ੍ਰਹਮ ਗਿਆਨੀ ਪਰਉਪਕਾਰ ਉਮਾਹਾ ॥

ब्रहम गिआनी परउपकार उमाहा ॥

Brham giaanee paraupakaar umaahaa ||

The God-conscious being delights in doing good to others.

ਬ੍ਰਹਮ ਗਿਆਨੀ ਕੈ ਨਾਹੀ ਧੰਧਾ ॥

ब्रहम गिआनी कै नाही धंधा ॥

Brham giaanee kai naahee dhanddhaa ||

The God-conscious being has no worldly entanglements.

ਬ੍ਰਹਮ ਗਿਆਨੀ ਲੇ ਧਾਵਤੁ ਬੰਧਾ ॥

ब्रहम गिआनी ले धावतु बंधा ॥

Brham giaanee le dhaavatu banddhaa ||

The God-conscious being holds his wandering mind under control.

ਬ੍ਰਹਮ ਗਿਆਨੀ ਕੈ ਹੋਇ ਸੁ ਭਲਾ ॥

ब्रहम गिआनी कै होइ सु भला ॥

Brham giaanee kai hoi su bhalaa ||

The God-conscious being acts in the common good.

ਬ੍ਰਹਮ ਗਿਆਨੀ ਸੁਫਲ ਫਲਾ ॥

ब्रहम गिआनी सुफल फला ॥

Brham giaanee suphal phalaa ||

The God-conscious being blossoms in fruitfulness.

ਬ੍ਰਹਮ ਗਿਆਨੀ ਸੰਗਿ ਸਗਲ ਉਧਾਰੁ ॥

ब्रहम गिआनी संगि सगल उधारु ॥

Brham giaanee sanggi sagal udhaaru ||

In the Company of the God-conscious being, all are saved.

ਨਾਨਕ ਬ੍ਰਹਮ ਗਿਆਨੀ ਜਪੈ ਸਗਲ ਸੰਸਾਰੁ ॥੪॥

नानक ब्रहम गिआनी जपै सगल संसारु ॥४॥

Naanak brham giaanee japai sagal sanssaaru ||4||

O Nanak, through the God-conscious being, the whole world meditates on God. ||4||


ਬ੍ਰਹਮ ਗਿਆਨੀ ਕੈ ਏਕੈ ਰੰਗ ॥

ब्रहम गिआनी कै एकै रंग ॥

Brham giaanee kai ekai rangg ||

The God-conscious being loves the One Lord alone.

ਬ੍ਰਹਮ ਗਿਆਨੀ ਕੈ ਬਸੈ ਪ੍ਰਭੁ ਸੰਗ ॥

ब्रहम गिआनी कै बसै प्रभु संग ॥

Brham giaanee kai basai prbhu sangg ||

The God-conscious being dwells with God.

ਬ੍ਰਹਮ ਗਿਆਨੀ ਕੈ ਨਾਮੁ ਆਧਾਰੁ ॥

ब्रहम गिआनी कै नामु आधारु ॥

Brham giaanee kai naamu aadhaaru ||

The God-conscious being takes the Naam as his Support.

ਬ੍ਰਹਮ ਗਿਆਨੀ ਕੈ ਨਾਮੁ ਪਰਵਾਰੁ ॥

ब्रहम गिआनी कै नामु परवारु ॥

Brham giaanee kai naamu paravaaru ||

The God-conscious being has the Naam as his Family.

ਬ੍ਰਹਮ ਗਿਆਨੀ ਸਦਾ ਸਦ ਜਾਗਤ ॥

ब्रहम गिआनी सदा सद जागत ॥

Brham giaanee sadaa sad jaagat ||

The God-conscious being is awake and aware, forever and ever.

ਬ੍ਰਹਮ ਗਿਆਨੀ ਅਹੰਬੁਧਿ ਤਿਆਗਤ ॥

ब्रहम गिआनी अह्मबुधि तिआगत ॥

Brham giaanee ahambbudhi tiaagat ||

The God-conscious being renounces his proud ego.

ਬ੍ਰਹਮ ਗਿਆਨੀ ਕੈ ਮਨਿ ਪਰਮਾਨੰਦ ॥

ब्रहम गिआनी कै मनि परमानंद ॥

Brham giaanee kai mani paramaanandd ||

In the mind of the God-conscious being, there is supreme bliss.

ਬ੍ਰਹਮ ਗਿਆਨੀ ਕੈ ਘਰਿ ਸਦਾ ਅਨੰਦ ॥

ब्रहम गिआनी कै घरि सदा अनंद ॥

Brham giaanee kai ghari sadaa anandd ||

In the home of the God-conscious being, there is everlasting bliss.

ਬ੍ਰਹਮ ਗਿਆਨੀ ਸੁਖ ਸਹਜ ਨਿਵਾਸ ॥

ब्रहम गिआनी सुख सहज निवास ॥

Brham giaanee sukh sahaj nivaas ||

The God-conscious being dwells in peaceful ease.

ਨਾਨਕ ਬ੍ਰਹਮ ਗਿਆਨੀ ਕਾ ਨਹੀ ਬਿਨਾਸ ॥੫॥

नानक ब्रहम गिआनी का नही बिनास ॥५॥

The God-conscious being knows God.

ਬ੍ਰਹਮ ਗਿਆਨੀ ਏਕ ਸੰਗਿ ਹੇਤਾ ॥

ब्रहम गिआनी एक संगि हेता ॥

Brham giaanee ek sanggi hetaa ||

The God-conscious being is in love with the One alone.

ਬ੍ਰਹਮ ਗਿਆਨੀ ਕੈ ਹੋਇ ਅਚਿੰਤ ॥

ब्रहम गिआनी कै होइ अचिंत ॥

Brham giaanee kai hoi achintt ||

The God-conscious being is carefree.

ਬ੍ਰਹਮ ਗਿਆਨੀ ਕਾ ਨਿਰਮਲ ਮੰਤ ॥

ब्रहम गिआनी का निरमल मंत ॥

Brham giaanee kaa niramal mantt ||

Pure are the Teachings of the God-conscious being.

ਬ੍ਰਹਮ ਗਿਆਨੀ ਜਿਸੁ ਕਰੈ ਪ੍ਰਭੁ ਆਪਿ ॥

ब्रहम गिआनी जिसु करै प्रभु आपि ॥

Brham giaanee jisu karai prbhu aapi ||

The God-conscious being is made so by God Himself.

ਬ੍ਰਹਮ ਗਿਆਨੀ ਕਾ ਬਡ ਪਰਤਾਪ ॥

ब्रहम गिआनी का बड परताप ॥

Brham giaanee kaa bad parataap ||

The God-conscious being is gloriously great.

ਬ੍ਰਹਮ ਗਿਆਨੀ ਕਾ ਦਰਸੁ ਬਡਭਾਗੀ ਪਾਈਐ ॥

ब्रहम गिआनी का दरसु बडभागी पाईऐ ॥

Brham giaanee kaa darasu badabhaagee paaeeai ||

The Darshan, the Blessed Vision of the God-conscious being, is obtained by great good fortune.

ਬ੍ਰਹਮ ਗਿਆਨੀ ਕਉ ਬਲਿ ਬਲਿ ਜਾਈਐ ॥

ब्रहम गिआनी कउ बलि बलि जाईऐ ॥

Brham giaanee kau bali bali jaaeeai ||

To the God-conscious being, I make my life a sacrifice.

ਬ੍ਰਹਮ ਗਿਆਨੀ ਕਉ ਖੋਜਹਿ ਮਹੇਸੁਰ ॥

ब्रहम गिआनी कउ खोजहि महेसुर ॥

Brham giaanee kau khojahi mahesur ||

The God-conscious being is sought by the great god Shiva.

ਨਾਨਕ ਬ੍ਰਹਮ ਗਿਆਨੀ ਆਪਿ ਪਰਮੇਸੁਰ ॥੬॥

नानक ब्रहम गिआनी आपि परमेसुर ॥६॥

Naanak brham giaanee aapi paramesur ||6||

O Nanak, the God-conscious being is Himself the Supreme Lord God. ||6||


ਬ੍ਰਹਮ ਗਿਆਨੀ ਕੀ ਕੀਮਤਿ ਨਾਹਿ ॥

ब्रहम गिआनी की कीमति नाहि ॥

Brham giaanee kee keemati naahi ||

The God-conscious being cannot be appraised.

ਬ੍ਰਹਮ ਗਿਆਨੀ ਕੈ ਸਗਲ ਮਨ ਮਾਹਿ ॥

ब्रहम गिआनी कै सगल मन माहि ॥

Brham giaanee kai sagal man maahi ||

The God-conscious being has all within his mind.

ਬ੍ਰਹਮ ਗਿਆਨੀ ਕਾ ਕਉਨ ਜਾਨੈ ਭੇਦੁ ॥

ब्रहम गिआनी का कउन जानै भेदु ॥

Brham giaanee kaa kaun jaanai bhedu ||

Who can know the mystery of the God-conscious being?

ਬ੍ਰਹਮ ਗਿਆਨੀ ਕਉ ਸਦਾ ਅਦੇਸੁ ॥

ब्रहम गिआनी कउ सदा अदेसु ॥

Brham giaanee kau sadaa adesu ||

Forever bow to the God-conscious being.

ਬ੍ਰਹਮ ਗਿਆਨੀ ਕਾ ਕਥਿਆ ਨ ਜਾਇ ਅਧਾਖੵਰੁ ॥

ब्रहम गिआनी का कथिआ न जाइ अधाख्यरु ॥

Brham giaanee kaa kathiaa na jaai adhaakhyru ||

The God-conscious being cannot be described in words.

ਬ੍ਰਹਮ ਗਿਆਨੀ ਸਰਬ ਕਾ ਠਾਕੁਰੁ ॥

ब्रहम गिआनी सरब का ठाकुरु ॥

Brham giaanee sarab kaa thaakuru ||

The God-conscious being is the Lord and Master of all.

ਬ੍ਰਹਮ ਗਿਆਨੀ ਕੀ ਮਿਤਿ ਕਉਨੁ ਬਖਾਨੈ ॥

ब्रहम गिआनी की मिति कउनु बखानै ॥

Brham giaanee kee miti kaunu bakhaanai ||

Who can describe the limits of the God-conscious being?

ਬ੍ਰਹਮ ਗਿਆਨੀ ਕੀ ਗਤਿ ਬ੍ਰਹਮ ਗਿਆਨੀ ਜਾਨੈ ॥

ब्रहम गिआनी की गति ब्रहम गिआनी जानै ॥

Brham giaanee kee gati brham giaanee jaanai ||

Only the God-conscious being can know the state of the God-conscious being.

ਬ੍ਰਹਮ ਗਿਆਨੀ ਕਾ ਅੰਤੁ ਨ ਪਾਰੁ ॥

ब्रहम गिआनी का अंतु न पारु ॥

Brham giaanee kaa anttu na paaru ||

The God-conscious being has no end or limitation.

ਨਾਨਕ ਬ੍ਰਹਮ ਗਿਆਨੀ ਕਉ ਸਦਾ ਨਮਸਕਾਰੁ ॥੭॥

नानक ब्रहम गिआनी कउ सदा नमसकारु ॥७॥

Naanak brham giaanee kau sadaa namasakaaru ||7||

O Nanak, to the God-conscious being, bow forever in reverence. ||7||


ਬ੍ਰਹਮ ਗਿਆਨੀ ਸਭ ਸ੍ਰਿਸਟਿ ਕਾ ਕਰਤਾ ॥

ब्रहम गिआनी सभ स्रिसटि का करता ॥

Brham giaanee sabh srisati kaa karataa ||

The God-conscious being is the Creator of all the world.

ਬ੍ਰਹਮ ਗਿਆਨੀ ਸਦ ਜੀਵੈ ਨਹੀ ਮਰਤਾ ॥

ब्रहम गिआनी सद जीवै नही मरता ॥

Brham giaanee sad jeevai nahee marataa ||

The God-conscious being lives forever, and does not die.

ਬ੍ਰਹਮ ਗਿਆਨੀ ਮੁਕਤਿ ਜੁਗਤਿ ਜੀਅ ਕਾ ਦਾਤਾ ॥

ब्रहम गिआनी मुकति जुगति जीअ का दाता ॥

Brham giaanee mukati jugati jeea kaa daataa ||

The God-conscious being is the Giver of the way of liberation of the soul.

ਬ੍ਰਹਮ ਗਿਆਨੀ ਪੂਰਨ ਪੁਰਖੁ ਬਿਧਾਤਾ ॥

ब्रहम गिआनी पूरन पुरखु बिधाता ॥

Brham giaanee pooran purakhu bidhaataa ||

The God-conscious being is the Perfect Supreme Being, who orchestrates all.

ਬ੍ਰਹਮ ਗਿਆਨੀ ਅਨਾਥ ਕਾ ਨਾਥੁ ॥

ब्रहम गिआनी अनाथ का नाथु ॥

Brham giaanee anaath kaa naathu ||

The God-conscious being is the helper of the helpless.

ਬ੍ਰਹਮ ਗਿਆਨੀ ਕਾ ਸਭ ਊਪਰਿ ਹਾਥੁ ॥

ब्रहम गिआनी का सभ ऊपरि हाथु ॥

Brham giaanee kaa sabh upari haathu ||

The God-conscious being extends his hand to all.

ਬ੍ਰਹਮ ਗਿਆਨੀ ਕਾ ਸਗਲ ਅਕਾਰੁ ॥

ब्रहम गिआनी का सगल अकारु ॥

Brham giaanee kaa sagal akaaru ||

The God-conscious being owns the entire creation.

ਬ੍ਰਹਮ ਗਿਆਨੀ ਆਪਿ ਨਿਰੰਕਾਰੁ ॥

ब्रहम गिआनी आपि निरंकारु ॥

Brham giaanee aapi nirankkaaru ||

The God-conscious being is himself the Formless Lord.

ਬ੍ਰਹਮ ਗਿਆਨੀ ਕੀ ਸੋਭਾ ਬ੍ਰਹਮ ਗਿਆਨੀ ਬਨੀ ॥

ब्रहम गिआनी की सोभा ब्रहम गिआनी बनी ॥

Brham giaanee kee sobhaa brham giaanee banee ||

The glory of the God-conscious being belongs to the God-conscious being alone.

ਨਾਨਕ ਬ੍ਰਹਮ ਗਿਆਨੀ ਸਰਬ ਕਾ ਧਨੀ ॥੮॥੮॥

नानक ब्रहम गिआनी सरब का धनी ॥८॥८॥

ਉਰਿ ਧਾਰੈ ਜੋ ਅੰਤਰਿ ਨਾਮੁ ॥

उरि धारै जो अंतरि नामु ॥

Uri dhaarai jo anttari naamu ||

One who enshrines the Naam within the heart,

ਸਰਬ ਮੈ ਪੇਖੈ ਭਗਵਾਨੁ ॥

सरब मै पेखै भगवानु ॥

Sarab mai pekhai bhagavaanu ||

Who sees the Lord God in all,

ਨਿਮਖ ਨਿਮਖ ਠਾਕੁਰ ਨਮਸਕਾਰੈ ॥

निमख निमख ठाकुर नमसकारै ॥

Nimakh nimakh thaakur namasakaarai ||

Who, each and every moment, bows in reverence to the Lord Master

ਨਾਨਕ ਓਹੁ ਅਪਰਸੁ ਸਗਲ ਨਿਸਤਾਰੈ ॥੧॥

नानक ओहु अपरसु सगल निसतारै ॥१॥

Naanak ohu aparasu sagal nisataarai ||1||

- O Nanak, such a one is the true 'touch-nothing Saint', who emancipates everyone. ||1||

ਮਿਥਿਆ ਨਾਹੀ ਰਸਨਾ ਪਰਸ ॥

मिथिआ नाही रसना परस ॥

Mithiaa naahee rasanaa paras ||

One whose tongue does not touch falsehood;

ਮਨ ਮਹਿ ਪ੍ਰੀਤਿ ਨਿਰੰਜਨ ਦਰਸ ॥

मन महि प्रीति निरंजन दरस ॥

Man mahi preeti niranjjan daras ||

Whose mind is filled with love for the Blessed Vision of the Pure Lord,

ਪਰ ਤ੍ਰਿਅ ਰੂਪੁ ਨ ਪੇਖੈ ਨੇਤ੍ਰ ॥

पर त्रिअ रूपु न पेखै नेत्र ॥

Par tria roopu na pekhai netr ||

Whose eyes do not gaze upon the beauty of others' wives,

ਸਾਧ ਕੀ ਟਹਲ ਸੰਤਸੰਗਿ ਹੇਤ ॥

साध की टहल संतसंगि हेत ॥

Saadh kee tahal santtasanggi het ||

who serves the Holy and loves the congregation of saints,

ਕਰਨ ਨ ਸੁਨੈ ਕਾਹੂ ਕੀ ਨਿੰਦਾ ॥

करन न सुनै काहू की निंदा ॥

Karan na sunai kaahoo kee ninddaa ||

Whose ears do not listen to slander against anyone,

ਸਭ ਤੇ ਜਾਨੈ ਆਪਸ ਕਉ ਮੰਦਾ ॥

सभ ते जानै आपस कउ मंदा ॥

Sabh te jaanai aapas kau manddaa ||

Who deems himself to be the worst of all,

ਗੁਰ ਪ੍ਰਸਾਦਿ ਬਿਖਿਆ ਪਰਹਰੈ ॥

गुर प्रसादि बिखिआ परहरै ॥

Gur prsaadi bikhiaa paraharai ||

Who, by Guru's Grace, renounces corruption,

ਮਨ ਕੀ ਬਾਸਨਾ ਮਨ ਤੇ ਟਰੈ ॥

मन की बासना मन ते टरै ॥

Man kee baasanaa man te tarai ||

Who banishes the mind's evil desires from his mind,

ਇੰਦ੍ਰੀ ਜਿਤ ਪੰਚ ਦੋਖ ਤੇ ਰਹਤ ॥

इंद्री जित पंच दोख ते रहत ॥

Ianddree jit pancch dokh te rahat ||

Who conquers his sexual instincts and is free of the five sinful passions

ਨਾਨਕ ਕੋਟਿ ਮਧੇ ਕੋ ਐਸਾ ਅਪਰਸ ॥੧॥

नानक कोटि मधे को ऐसा अपरस ॥१॥

Naanak koti madhe ko aisaa aparas ||1||

- O Nanak, among millions, there is scarcely one such 'touch-nothing Saint'. ||1||


ਬੈਸਨੋ ਸੋ ਜਿਸੁ ਊਪਰਿ ਸੁਪ੍ਰਸੰਨ ॥

बैसनो सो जिसु ऊपरि सुप्रसंन ॥

Baisano so jisu upari suprsann ||

The true Vaishnaav, the devotee of Vishnu, is the one with whom God is thoroughly pleased.

ਬਿਸਨ ਕੀ ਮਾਇਆ ਤੇ ਹੋਇ ਭਿੰਨ ॥

बिसन की माइआ ते होइ भिंन ॥

Bisan kee maaiaa te hoi bhinn ||

He dwells apart from Maya.

ਕਰਮ ਕਰਤ ਹੋਵੈ ਨਿਹਕਰਮ ॥

करम करत होवै निहकरम ॥

Karam karat hovai nihakaram ||

Performing good deeds, he does not seek rewards.

ਤਿਸੁ ਬੈਸਨੋ ਕਾ ਨਿਰਮਲ ਧਰਮ ॥

तिसु बैसनो का निरमल धरम ॥

Tisu baisano kaa niramal dharam ||

Spotlessly pure is the religion of such a Vaishnaav;

ਕਾਹੂ ਫਲ ਕੀ ਇਛਾ ਨਹੀ ਬਾਛੈ ॥

काहू फल की इछा नही बाछै ॥

Kaahoo phal kee ichhaa nahee baachhai ||

He has no desire for the fruits of his labors.

ਕੇਵਲ ਭਗਤਿ ਕੀਰਤਨ ਸੰਗਿ ਰਾਚੈ ॥

केवल भगति कीरतन संगि राचै ॥

Keval bhagati keeratan sanggi raachai ||

He is absorbed in devotional worship and the singing of Kirtan, the songs of the Lord's Glory.

ਮਨ ਤਨ ਅੰਤਰਿ ਸਿਮਰਨ ਗੋਪਾਲ ॥

मन तन अंतरि सिमरन गोपाल ॥

Man tan anttari simaran gopaal ||

Within his mind and body, he meditates in remembrance on the Lord of the Universe.

ਸਭ ਊਪਰਿ ਹੋਵਤ ਕਿਰਪਾਲ ॥

सभ ऊपरि होवत किरपाल ॥

Sabh upari hovat kirapaal ||

He is kind to all creatures.

ਆਪਿ ਦ੍ਰਿੜੈ ਅਵਰਹ ਨਾਮੁ ਜਪਾਵੈ ॥

आपि द्रिड़ै अवरह नामु जपावै ॥

Aapi dri(rr)ai avarah naamu japaavai ||

He holds fast to the Naam, and inspires others to chant it.

ਨਾਨਕ ਓਹੁ ਬੈਸਨੋ ਪਰਮ ਗਤਿ ਪਾਵੈ ॥੨॥

नानक ओहु बैसनो परम गति पावै ॥२॥

Naanak ohu baisano param gati paavai ||2||

O Nanak, such a Vaishnaav obtains the supreme status. ||2||


ਭਗਉਤੀ ਭਗਵੰਤ ਭਗਤਿ ਕਾ ਰੰਗੁ ॥

भगउती भगवंत भगति का रंगु ॥

Bhagautee bhagavantt bhagati kaa ranggu ||

The true Bhagaautee, the devotee of Adi Shakti, loves the devotional worship of God.

ਸਗਲ ਤਿਆਗੈ ਦੁਸਟ ਕਾ ਸੰਗੁ ॥

सगल तिआगै दुसट का संगु ॥

Sagal tiaagai dusat kaa sanggu ||

He forsakes the company of all wicked people.

ਮਨ ਤੇ ਬਿਨਸੈ ਸਗਲਾ ਭਰਮੁ ॥

मन ते बिनसै सगला भरमु ॥

Man te binasai sagalaa bharamu ||

All doubts are removed from his mind.

ਕਰਿ ਪੂਜੈ ਸਗਲ ਪਾਰਬ੍ਰਹਮੁ ॥

करि पूजै सगल पारब्रहमु ॥

Kari poojai sagal paarabrhamu ||

He performs devotional service to the Supreme Lord God in all.

ਸਾਧਸੰਗਿ ਪਾਪਾ ਮਲੁ ਖੋਵੈ ॥

साधसंगि पापा मलु खोवै ॥

Saadhasanggi paapaa malu khovai ||

In the Company of the Holy, the filth of sin is washed away.

ਤਿਸੁ ਭਗਉਤੀ ਕੀ ਮਤਿ ਊਤਮ ਹੋਵੈ ॥

तिसु भगउती की मति ऊतम होवै ॥

Tisu bhagautee kee mati utam hovai ||

The wisdom of such a Bhagaautee becomes supreme.

ਭਗਵੰਤ ਕੀ ਟਹਲ ਕਰੈ ਨਿਤ ਨੀਤਿ ॥

भगवंत की टहल करै नित नीति ॥

Bhagavantt kee tahal karai nit neeti ||

He constantly performs the service of the Supreme Lord God.

ਮਨੁ ਤਨੁ ਅਰਪੈ ਬਿਸਨ ਪਰੀਤਿ ॥

मनु तनु अरपै बिसन परीति ॥

Manu tanu arapai bisan pareeti ||

He dedicates his mind and body to the Love of God.

ਹਰਿ ਕੇ ਚਰਨ ਹਿਰਦੈ ਬਸਾਵੈ ॥

हरि के चरन हिरदै बसावै ॥

Hari ke charan hiradai basaavai ||

The Lotus Feet of the Lord abide in his heart.

ਨਾਨਕ ਐਸਾ ਭਗਉਤੀ ਭਗਵੰਤ ਕਉ ਪਾਵੈ ॥੩॥

नानक ऐसा भगउती भगवंत कउ पावै ॥३॥

Naanak aisaa bhagautee bhagavantt kau paavai ||3||

O Nanak, such a Bhagaautee attains the Lord God. ||3||


ਸੋ ਪੰਡਿਤੁ ਜੋ ਮਨੁ ਪਰਬੋਧੈ ॥

सो पंडितु जो मनु परबोधै ॥

So pandditu jo manu parabodhai ||

He is a true Pandit, a religious scholar, who instructs his own mind.

ਰਾਮ ਨਾਮੁ ਆਤਮ ਮਹਿ ਸੋਧੈ ॥

राम नामु आतम महि सोधै ॥

Raam naamu aatam mahi sodhai ||

He searches for the Lord's Name within his own soul.

ਰਾਮ ਨਾਮ ਸਾਰੁ ਰਸੁ ਪੀਵੈ ॥

राम नाम सारु रसु पीवै ॥

Raam naam saaru rasu peevai ||

He drinks in the Exquisite Nectar of the Lord's Name.

ਉਸੁ ਪੰਡਿਤ ਕੈ ਉਪਦੇਸਿ ਜਗੁ ਜੀਵੈ ॥

उसु पंडित कै उपदेसि जगु जीवै ॥

Usu panddit kai upadesi jagu jeevai ||

By that Pandit's teachings, the world lives.

ਹਰਿ ਕੀ ਕਥਾ ਹਿਰਦੈ ਬਸਾਵੈ ॥

हरि की कथा हिरदै बसावै ॥

Hari kee kathaa hiradai basaavai ||

He implants the Sermon of the Lord in his heart.

ਸੋ ਪੰਡਿਤੁ ਫਿਰਿ ਜੋਨਿ ਨ ਆਵੈ ॥

सो पंडितु फिरि जोनि न आवै ॥

So pandditu phiri joni na aavai ||

Such a Pandit is not cast into the womb of reincarnation again.

ਬੇਦ ਪੁਰਾਨ ਸਿਮ੍ਰਿਤਿ ਬੂਝੈ ਮੂਲ ॥

बेद पुरान सिम्रिति बूझै मूल ॥

Bed puraan simriti boojhai mool ||

He understands the fundamental essence of the Vedas, the Puraanas and the Simritees.

ਸੂਖਮ ਮਹਿ ਜਾਨੈ ਅਸਥੂਲੁ ॥

सूखम महि जानै असथूलु ॥

Sookham mahi jaanai asathoolu ||

In the unmanifest, he sees the manifest world to exist.

ਚਹੁ ਵਰਨਾ ਕਉ ਦੇ ਉਪਦੇਸੁ ॥

चहु वरना कउ दे उपदेसु ॥

Chahu varanaa kau de upadesu ||

He gives instruction to people of all castes and social classes.

ਨਾਨਕ ਉਸੁ ਪੰਡਿਤ ਕਉ ਸਦਾ ਅਦੇਸੁ ॥੪॥

नानक उसु पंडित कउ सदा अदेसु ॥४॥

Naanak usu panddit kau sadaa adesu ||4||

O Nanak, to such a Pandit, I bow in salutation forever. ||4||


ਬੀਜ ਮੰਤ੍ਰੁ ਸਰਬ ਕੋ ਗਿਆਨੁ ॥

बीज मंत्रु सरब को गिआनु ॥

Beej manttru sarab ko giaanu ||

The Beej Mantra, the Seed Mantra, is spiritual wisdom for everyone.

ਚਹੁ ਵਰਨਾ ਮਹਿ ਜਪੈ ਕੋਊ ਨਾਮੁ ॥

चहु वरना महि जपै कोऊ नामु ॥

Chahu varanaa mahi japai kou naamu ||

Anyone, from any class, may chant the Naam.

ਜੋ ਜੋ ਜਪੈ ਤਿਸ ਕੀ ਗਤਿ ਹੋਇ ॥

जो जो जपै तिस की गति होइ ॥

Jo jo japai tis kee gati hoi ||

Whoever chants it, is emancipated.

ਸਾਧਸੰਗਿ ਪਾਵੈ ਜਨੁ ਕੋਇ ॥

साधसंगि पावै जनु कोइ ॥

Saadhasanggi paavai janu koi ||

And yet, rare are those who attain it, in the Company of the Holy.

ਕਰਿ ਕਿਰਪਾ ਅੰਤਰਿ ਉਰ ਧਾਰੈ ॥

करि किरपा अंतरि उर धारै ॥

Kari kirapaa anttari ur dhaarai ||

By His Grace, He enshrines it within.

ਪਸੁ ਪ੍ਰੇਤ ਮੁਘਦ ਪਾਥਰ ਕਉ ਤਾਰੈ ॥

पसु प्रेत मुघद पाथर कउ तारै ॥

Pasu pret mughad paathar kau taarai ||

Even beasts, ghosts and the stone-hearted are saved.

ਸਰਬ ਰੋਗ ਕਾ ਅਉਖਦੁ ਨਾਮੁ ॥

सरब रोग का अउखदु नामु ॥

Sarab rog kaa aukhadu naamu ||

The Naam is the panacea, the remedy to cure all ills.

ਕਲਿਆਣ ਰੂਪ ਮੰਗਲ ਗੁਣ ਗਾਮ ॥

कलिआण रूप मंगल गुण गाम ॥

Kaliaa(nn) roop manggal gu(nn) gaam ||

Singing the Glory of God is the embodiment of bliss and emancipation.

ਕਾਹੂ ਜੁਗਤਿ ਕਿਤੈ ਨ ਪਾਈਐ ਧਰਮਿ ॥

काहू जुगति कितै न पाईऐ धरमि ॥

Kaahoo jugati kitai na paaeeai dharami ||

It cannot be obtained by any religious rituals.

ਨਾਨਕ ਤਿਸੁ ਮਿਲੈ ਜਿਸੁ ਲਿਖਿਆ ਧੁਰਿ ਕਰਮਿ ॥੫॥

नानक तिसु मिलै जिसु लिखिआ धुरि करमि ॥५॥

Naanak tisu milai jisu likhiaa dhuri karami ||5||

O Nanak, he alone obtains it, whose karma is so pre-ordained. ||5||


ਜਿਸ ਕੈ ਮਨਿ ਪਾਰਬ੍ਰਹਮ ਕਾ ਨਿਵਾਸੁ ॥

जिस कै मनि पारब्रहम का निवासु ॥

Jis kai mani paarabrham kaa nivaasu ||

One whose mind is a home for the Supreme Lord God

ਤਿਸ ਕਾ ਨਾਮੁ ਸਤਿ ਰਾਮਦਾਸੁ ॥

तिस का नामु सति रामदासु ॥

Tis kaa naamu sati raamadaasu ||

- his name is truly Ram Das, the Lord's servant.

ਆਤਮ ਰਾਮੁ ਤਿਸੁ ਨਦਰੀ ਆਇਆ ॥

आतम रामु तिसु नदरी आइआ ॥

Aatam raamu tisu nadaree aaiaa ||

He comes to have the Vision of the Lord, the Supreme Soul.

ਦਾਸ ਦਸੰਤਣ ਭਾਇ ਤਿਨਿ ਪਾਇਆ ॥

दास दसंतण भाइ तिनि पाइआ ॥

Daas dasantta(nn) bhaai tini paaiaa ||

Deeming himself to be the slave of the Lord's slaves, he obtains it.

ਸਦਾ ਨਿਕਟਿ ਨਿਕਟਿ ਹਰਿ ਜਾਨੁ ॥

सदा निकटि निकटि हरि जानु ॥

Sadaa nikati nikati hari jaanu ||

He knows the Lord to be Ever-present, close at hand.

ਸੋ ਦਾਸੁ ਦਰਗਹ ਪਰਵਾਨੁ ॥

सो दासु दरगह परवानु ॥

So daasu daragah paravaanu ||

Such a servant is honored in the Court of the Lord.

ਅਪੁਨੇ ਦਾਸ ਕਉ ਆਪਿ ਕਿਰਪਾ ਕਰੈ ॥

अपुने दास कउ आपि किरपा करै ॥

Apune daas kau aapi kirapaa karai ||

To His servant, He Himself shows His Mercy.

ਤਿਸੁ ਦਾਸ ਕਉ ਸਭ ਸੋਝੀ ਪਰੈ ॥

तिसु दास कउ सभ सोझी परै ॥

Tisu daas kau sabh sojhee parai ||

Such a servant understands everything.

ਸਗਲ ਸੰਗਿ ਆਤਮ ਉਦਾਸੁ ॥

सगल संगि आतम उदासु ॥

Sagal sanggi aatam udaasu ||

Amidst all, his soul is unattached.

ਐਸੀ ਜੁਗਤਿ ਨਾਨਕ ਰਾਮਦਾਸੁ ॥੬॥

ऐसी जुगति नानक रामदासु ॥६॥

Aisee jugati naanak raamadaasu ||6||

Such is the way, O Nanak, of the Lord's servant. ||6||


ਪ੍ਰਭ ਕੀ ਆਗਿਆ ਆਤਮ ਹਿਤਾਵੈ ॥

प्रभ की आगिआ आतम हितावै ॥

Prbh kee aagiaa aatam hitaavai ||

One who, in his soul, loves the Will of God,

ਜੀਵਨ ਮੁਕਤਿ ਸੋਊ ਕਹਾਵੈ ॥

जीवन मुकति सोऊ कहावै ॥

Jeevan mukati sou kahaavai ||

Is said to be Jivan Mukta - liberated while yet alive.

ਤੈਸਾ ਹਰਖੁ ਤੈਸਾ ਉਸੁ ਸੋਗੁ ॥

तैसा हरखु तैसा उसु सोगु ॥

Taisaa harakhu taisaa usu sogu ||

As is joy, so is sorrow to him.

ਸਦਾ ਅਨੰਦੁ ਤਹ ਨਹੀ ਬਿਓਗੁ ॥

सदा अनंदु तह नही बिओगु ॥

Sadaa ananddu tah nahee biogu ||

He is in eternal bliss, and is not separated from God.

ਤੈਸਾ ਸੁਵਰਨੁ ਤੈਸੀ ਉਸੁ ਮਾਟੀ ॥

तैसा सुवरनु तैसी उसु माटी ॥

Taisaa suvaranu taisee usu maatee ||

As is gold, so is dust to him.

ਤੈਸਾ ਅੰਮ੍ਰਿਤੁ ਤੈਸੀ ਬਿਖੁ ਖਾਟੀ ॥

तैसा अम्रितु तैसी बिखु खाटी ॥

Taisaa ammmritu taisee bikhu khaatee ||

As is ambrosial nectar, so is bitter poison to him.

ਤੈਸਾ ਮਾਨੁ ਤੈਸਾ ਅਭਿਮਾਨੁ ॥

तैसा मानु तैसा अभिमानु ॥

Taisaa maanu taisaa abhimaanu ||

As is honor, so is dishonor.

ਤੈਸਾ ਰੰਕੁ ਤੈਸਾ ਰਾਜਾਨੁ ॥

तैसा रंकु तैसा राजानु ॥

Taisaa rankku taisaa raajaanu ||

As is the beggar, so is the king.

ਜੋ ਵਰਤਾਏ ਸਾਈ ਜੁਗਤਿ ॥

जो वरताए साई जुगति ॥

Jo varataae saaee jugati ||

Whatever God ordains, that is his way.

ਨਾਨਕ ਓਹੁ ਪੁਰਖੁ ਕਹੀਐ ਜੀਵਨ ਮੁਕਤਿ ॥੭॥

नानक ओहु पुरखु कहीऐ जीवन मुकति ॥७॥

Naanak ohu purakhu kaheeai jeevan mukati ||7||

O Nanak, that being is known as Jivan Mukta. ||7||


ਪਾਰਬ੍ਰਹਮ ਕੇ ਸਗਲੇ ਠਾਉ ॥

पारब्रहम के सगले ठाउ ॥

Paarabrham ke sagale thaau ||

All places belong to the Supreme Lord God.

ਜਿਤੁ ਜਿਤੁ ਘਰਿ ਰਾਖੈ ਤੈਸਾ ਤਿਨ ਨਾਉ ॥

जितु जितु घरि राखै तैसा तिन नाउ ॥

Jitu jitu ghari raakhai taisaa tin naau ||

According to the homes in which they are placed, so are His creatures named.

ਆਪੇ ਕਰਨ ਕਰਾਵਨ ਜੋਗੁ ॥

आपे करन करावन जोगु ॥

Aape karan karaavan jogu ||

He Himself is the Doer, the Cause of causes.

ਪ੍ਰਭ ਭਾਵੈ ਸੋਈ ਫੁਨਿ ਹੋਗੁ ॥

प्रभ भावै सोई फुनि होगु ॥

Prbh bhaavai soee phuni hogu ||

Whatever pleases God, ultimately comes to pass.

ਪਸਰਿਓ ਆਪਿ ਹੋਇ ਅਨਤ ਤਰੰਗ ॥

पसरिओ आपि होइ अनत तरंग ॥

Pasario aapi hoi anat tarangg ||

He Himself is All-pervading, in endless waves.

ਲਖੇ ਨ ਜਾਹਿ ਪਾਰਬ੍ਰਹਮ ਕੇ ਰੰਗ ॥

लखे न जाहि पारब्रहम के रंग ॥

Lakhe na jaahi paarabrham ke rangg ||

The playful sport of the Supreme Lord God cannot be known.

ਜੈਸੀ ਮਤਿ ਦੇਇ ਤੈਸਾ ਪਰਗਾਸ ॥

जैसी मति देइ तैसा परगास ॥

Jaisee mati dei taisaa paragaas ||

As the understanding is given, so is one enlightened.

ਪਾਰਬ੍ਰਹਮੁ ਕਰਤਾ ਅਬਿਨਾਸ ॥

पारब्रहमु करता अबिनास ॥

Paarabrhamu karataa abinaas ||

The Supreme Lord God, the Creator, is eternal and everlasting.

ਸਦਾ ਸਦਾ ਸਦਾ ਦਇਆਲ ॥

सदा सदा सदा दइआल ॥

Sadaa sadaa sadaa daiaal ||

Forever, forever and ever, He is merciful.

ਸਿਮਰਿ ਸਿਮਰਿ ਨਾਨਕ ਭਏ ਨਿਹਾਲ ॥੮॥੯॥

सिमरि सिमरि नानक भए निहाल ॥८॥९॥

Simari simari naanak bhae nihaal ||8||9||

Remembering Him, remembering Him in meditation, O Nanak, one is blessed with ecstasy. ||8||9||

Usatati karahi anek jan anttu na paaraavaar ||

Many people praise the Lord. He has no end or limitation.

ਨਾਨਕ ਰਚਨਾ ਪ੍ਰਭਿ ਰਚੀ ਬਹੁ ਬਿਧਿ ਅਨਿਕ ਪ੍ਰਕਾਰ ॥੧॥

Naanak rachanaa prbhi rachee bahu bidhi anik prkaar ||1||

Many millions perform religious rituals and worldly duties.

ਕਈ ਕੋਟਿ ਭਏ ਤੀਰਥ ਵਾਸੀ ॥

कई कोटि भए तीरथ वासी ॥

Kaee koti bhae teerath vaasee ||

Many millions become dwellers at sacred shrines of pilgrimage.

ਕਈ ਕੋਟਿ ਬਨ ਭ੍ਰਮਹਿ ਉਦਾਸੀ ॥

कई कोटि बन भ्रमहि उदासी ॥

Kaee koti ban bhrmahi udaasee ||

Many millions wander as renunciates in the wilderness.

ਕਈ ਕੋਟਿ ਬੇਦ ਕੇ ਸ੍ਰੋਤੇ ॥

कई कोटि बेद के स्रोते ॥

Kaee koti bed ke srote ||

Many millions listen to the Vedas.

ਕਈ ਕੋਟਿ ਤਪੀਸੁਰ ਹੋਤੇ ॥

कई कोटि तपीसुर होते ॥

Kaee koti tapeesur hote ||

Many millions become austere penitents.

ਕਈ ਕੋਟਿ ਆਤਮ ਧਿਆਨੁ ਧਾਰਹਿ ॥

कई कोटि आतम धिआनु धारहि ॥

Kaee koti aatam dhiaanu dhaarahi ||

Many millions enshrine meditation within their souls.

ਕਈ ਕੋਟਿ ਕਬਿ ਕਾਬਿ ਬੀਚਾਰਹਿ ॥

कई कोटि कबि काबि बीचारहि ॥

Kaee koti kabi kaabi beechaarahi ||

Many millions of poets contemplate Him through poetry.

ਕਈ ਕੋਟਿ ਨਵਤਨ ਨਾਮ ਧਿਆਵਹਿ ॥

कई कोटि नवतन नाम धिआवहि ॥

Kaee koti navatan naam dhiaavahi ||

Many millions meditate on His eternally new Naam.

ਨਾਨਕ ਕਰਤੇ ਕਾ ਅੰਤੁ ਨ ਪਾਵਹਿ ॥੧॥

नानक करते का अंतु न पावहि ॥१॥

Naanak karate kaa anttu na paavahi ||1||

O Nanak, none can find the limits of the Creator. ||1||

Many millions become self-centered.

ਕਈ ਕੋਟਿ ਅੰਧ ਅਗਿਆਨੀ ॥

कई कोटि अंध अगिआनी ॥

Kaee koti anddh agiaanee ||

Many millions are blinded by ignorance.

ਕਈ ਕੋਟਿ ਕਿਰਪਨ ਕਠੋਰ ॥

कई कोटि किरपन कठोर ॥

Kaee koti kirapan kathor ||

Many millions are stone-hearted misers.

ਕਈ ਕੋਟਿ ਅਭਿਗ ਆਤਮ ਨਿਕੋਰ ॥

कई कोटि अभिग आतम निकोर ॥

Kaee koti abhig aatam nikor ||

Many millions are heartless, with dry, withered souls.

ਕਈ ਕੋਟਿ ਪਰ ਦਰਬ ਕਉ ਹਿਰਹਿ ॥

कई कोटि पर दरब कउ हिरहि ॥

Kaee koti par darab kau hirahi ||

Many millions steal the wealth of others.

ਕਈ ਕੋਟਿ ਪਰ ਦੂਖਨਾ ਕਰਹਿ ॥

कई कोटि पर दूखना करहि ॥

Kaee koti par dookhanaa karahi ||

Many millions slander others.

ਕਈ ਕੋਟਿ ਮਾਇਆ ਸ੍ਰਮ ਮਾਹਿ ॥

कई कोटि माइआ स्रम माहि ॥

Kaee koti maaiaa srm maahi ||

Many millions struggle in Maya.

ਕਈ ਕੋਟਿ ਪਰਦੇਸ ਭ੍ਰਮਾਹਿ ॥

कई कोटि परदेस भ्रमाहि ॥

Kaee koti parades bhrmaahi ||

Many millions wander in foreign lands.

ਜਿਤੁ ਜਿਤੁ ਲਾਵਹੁ ਤਿਤੁ ਤਿਤੁ ਲਗਨਾ ॥

जितु जितु लावहु तितु तितु लगना ॥

Jitu jitu laavahu titu titu laganaa ||

Whatever God attaches them to - with that they are engaged.

ਨਾਨਕ ਕਰਤੇ ਕੀ ਜਾਨੈ ਕਰਤਾ ਰਚਨਾ ॥੨॥

नानक करते की जानै करता रचना ॥२॥

Naanak karate kee jaanai karataa rachanaa ||2||

O Nanak, the Creator alone knows the workings of His creation. ||2||

Kaee koti sidh jatee jogee ||

Many millions are Siddhas, celibates and Yogis.

ਕਈ ਕੋਟਿ ਰਾਜੇ ਰਸ ਭੋਗੀ ॥

कई कोटि राजे रस भोगी ॥

Kaee koti raaje ras bhogee ||

Many millions are kings, enjoying worldly pleasures.

ਕਈ ਕੋਟਿ ਪੰਖੀ ਸਰਪ ਉਪਾਏ ॥

कई कोटि पंखी सरप उपाए ॥

Kaee koti pankkhee sarap upaae ||

Many millions of birds and snakes have been created.

ਕਈ ਕੋਟਿ ਪਾਥਰ ਬਿਰਖ ਨਿਪਜਾਏ ॥

कई कोटि पाथर बिरख निपजाए ॥

Kaee koti paathar birakh nipajaae ||

Many millions of stones and trees have been produced.

ਕਈ ਕੋਟਿ ਪਵਣ ਪਾਣੀ ਬੈਸੰਤਰ ॥

कई कोटि पवण पाणी बैसंतर ॥

Kaee koti pava(nn) paa(nn)ee baisanttar ||

Many millions are the winds, waters and fires.

ਕਈ ਕੋਟਿ ਦੇਸ ਭੂ ਮੰਡਲ ॥

कई कोटि देस भू मंडल ॥

Kaee koti des bhoo manddal ||

Many millions are the countries and realms of the world.

ਕਈ ਕੋਟਿ ਸਸੀਅਰ ਸੂਰ ਨਖੵਤ੍ਰ ॥

कई कोटि ससीअर सूर नख्यत्र ॥

Kaee koti saseear soor nakhytr ||

Many millions are the moons, suns and stars.

ਕਈ ਕੋਟਿ ਦੇਵ ਦਾਨਵ ਇੰਦ੍ਰ ਸਿਰਿ ਛਤ੍ਰ ॥

कई कोटि देव दानव इंद्र सिरि छत्र ॥

Kaee koti dev daanav ianddr siri chhatr ||

Many millions are the demi-gods, demons and Indras, under their regal canopies.

ਸਗਲ ਸਮਗ੍ਰੀ ਅਪਨੈ ਸੂਤਿ ਧਾਰੈ ॥

सगल समग्री अपनै सूति धारै ॥

Sagal samagree apanai sooti dhaarai ||

He has strung the entire creation upon His thread.

ਨਾਨਕ ਜਿਸੁ ਜਿਸੁ ਭਾਵੈ ਤਿਸੁ ਤਿਸੁ ਨਿਸਤਾਰੈ ॥੩॥

नानक जिसु जिसु भावै तिसु तिसु निसतारै ॥३॥

Naanak jisu jisu bhaavai tisu tisu nisataarai ||3||

O Nanak, He emancipates those with whom He is pleased. ||3||


ਕਈ ਕੋਟਿ ਰਾਜਸ ਤਾਮਸ ਸਾਤਕ ॥

कई कोटि राजस तामस सातक ॥

Kaee koti raajas taamas saatak ||

Many millions abide in heated activity, slothful darkness and peaceful light.

ਕਈ ਕੋਟਿ ਬੇਦ ਪੁਰਾਨ ਸਿਮ੍ਰਿਤਿ ਅਰੁ ਸਾਸਤ ॥

कई कोटि बेद पुरान सिम्रिति अरु सासत ॥

Kaee koti bed puraan simriti aru saasat ||

Many millions are the Vedas, Puraanas, Simritees and Shaastras.

ਕਈ ਕੋਟਿ ਕੀਏ ਰਤਨ ਸਮੁਦ ॥

कई कोटि कीए रतन समुद ॥

Kaee koti keee ratan samud ||

Many millions are the pearls of the oceans.

ਕਈ ਕੋਟਿ ਨਾਨਾ ਪ੍ਰਕਾਰ ਜੰਤ ॥

कई कोटि नाना प्रकार जंत ॥

Kaee koti naanaa prkaar jantt ||

Many millions are the beings of so many descriptions.

ਕਈ ਕੋਟਿ ਕੀਏ ਚਿਰ ਜੀਵੇ ॥

कई कोटि कीए चिर जीवे ॥

Kaee koti keee chir jeeve ||

Many millions are made long-lived.

ਕਈ ਕੋਟਿ ਗਿਰੀ ਮੇਰ ਸੁਵਰਨ ਥੀਵੇ ॥

कई कोटि गिरी मेर सुवरन थीवे ॥

Kaee koti giree mer suvaran theeve ||

Many millions of hills and mountains have been made of gold.

ਕਈ ਕੋਟਿ ਜਖੵ ਕਿੰਨਰ ਪਿਸਾਚ ॥

कई कोटि जख्य किंनर पिसाच ॥

Kaee koti jakhy kinnar pisaach ||

Many millions are the Yakhshas - the servants of the god of wealth, the Kinnars - the gods of celestial music, and the evil spirits of the Pisaach.

ਕਈ ਕੋਟਿ ਭੂਤ ਪ੍ਰੇਤ ਸੂਕਰ ਮ੍ਰਿਗਾਚ ॥

कई कोटि भूत प्रेत सूकर म्रिगाच ॥

Kaee koti bhoot pret sookar mrigaach ||

Many millions are the evil nature-spirits, ghosts, pigs and tigers.

ਸਭ ਤੇ ਨੇਰੈ ਸਭਹੂ ਤੇ ਦੂਰਿ ॥

सभ ते नेरै सभहू ते दूरि ॥

Sabh te nerai sabhahoo te doori ||

He is near to all, and yet far from all;

ਨਾਨਕ ਆਪਿ ਅਲਿਪਤੁ ਰਹਿਆ ਭਰਪੂਰਿ ॥੪॥

नानक आपि अलिपतु रहिआ भरपूरि ॥४॥

Naanak aapi alipatu rahiaa bharapoori ||4||

O Nanak, He Himself remains distinct, while yet pervading all. ||4||


ਕਈ ਕੋਟਿ ਪਾਤਾਲ ਕੇ ਵਾਸੀ ॥

कई कोटि पाताल के वासी ॥

Kaee koti paataal ke vaasee ||

Many millions inhabit the nether regions.

ਕਈ ਕੋਟਿ ਨਰਕ ਸੁਰਗ ਨਿਵਾਸੀ ॥

कई कोटि नरक सुरग निवासी ॥

Kaee koti narak surag nivaasee ||

Many millions dwell in heaven and hell.

ਕਈ ਕੋਟਿ ਜਨਮਹਿ ਜੀਵਹਿ ਮਰਹਿ ॥

कई कोटि जनमहि जीवहि मरहि ॥

Kaee koti janamahi jeevahi marahi ||

Many millions are born, live and die.

ਕਈ ਕੋਟਿ ਬਹੁ ਜੋਨੀ ਫਿਰਹਿ ॥

कई कोटि बहु जोनी फिरहि ॥

Kaee koti bahu jonee phirahi ||

Many millions are reincarnated, over and over again.

ਕਈ ਕੋਟਿ ਬੈਠਤ ਹੀ ਖਾਹਿ ॥

कई कोटि बैठत ही खाहि ॥

Kaee koti baithat hee khaahi ||

Many millions eat while sitting at ease.

ਕਈ ਕੋਟਿ ਘਾਲਹਿ ਥਕਿ ਪਾਹਿ ॥

कई कोटि घालहि थकि पाहि ॥

Kaee koti ghaalahi thaki paahi ||

Many millions are exhausted by their labors.

ਕਈ ਕੋਟਿ ਕੀਏ ਧਨਵੰਤ ॥

कई कोटि कीए धनवंत ॥

Kaee koti keee dhanavantt ||

Many millions are created wealthy.

ਕਈ ਕੋਟਿ ਮਾਇਆ ਮਹਿ ਚਿੰਤ ॥

कई कोटि माइआ महि चिंत ॥

Kaee koti maaiaa mahi chintt ||

Many millions are anxiously involved in Maya.

ਜਹ ਜਹ ਭਾਣਾ ਤਹ ਤਹ ਰਾਖੇ ॥

जह जह भाणा तह तह राखे ॥

Jah jah bhaa(nn)aa tah tah raakhe ||

Wherever He wills, there He keeps us.

ਨਾਨਕ ਸਭੁ ਕਿਛੁ ਪ੍ਰਭ ਕੈ ਹਾਥੇ ॥੫॥

नानक सभु किछु प्रभ कै हाथे ॥५॥

Naanak sabhu kichhu prbh kai haathe ||5||

O Nanak, everything is in the Hands of God. ||5||


ਕਈ ਕੋਟਿ ਭਏ ਬੈਰਾਗੀ ॥

कई कोटि भए बैरागी ॥

Kaee koti bhae bairaagee ||

Many millions become Bairaagees, who renounce the world.

ਰਾਮ ਨਾਮ ਸੰਗਿ ਤਿਨਿ ਲਿਵ ਲਾਗੀ ॥

राम नाम संगि तिनि लिव लागी ॥

Raam naam sanggi tini liv laagee ||

They have attached themselves to the Lord's Name.

ਕਈ ਕੋਟਿ ਪ੍ਰਭ ਕਉ ਖੋਜੰਤੇ ॥

कई कोटि प्रभ कउ खोजंते ॥

Kaee koti prbh kau khojantte ||

Many millions are searching for God.

ਆਤਮ ਮਹਿ ਪਾਰਬ੍ਰਹਮੁ ਲਹੰਤੇ ॥

आतम महि पारब्रहमु लहंते ॥

Aatam mahi paarabrhamu lahantte ||

Within their souls, they find the Supreme Lord God.

ਕਈ ਕੋਟਿ ਦਰਸਨ ਪ੍ਰਭ ਪਿਆਸ ॥

कई कोटि दरसन प्रभ पिआस ॥

Kaee koti darasan prbh piaas ||

Many millions thirst for the Blessing of God's Darshan.

ਤਿਨ ਕਉ ਮਿਲਿਓ ਪ੍ਰਭੁ ਅਬਿਨਾਸ ॥

तिन कउ मिलिओ प्रभु अबिनास ॥

Tin kau milio prbhu abinaas ||

They meet with God, the Eternal.

ਕਈ ਕੋਟਿ ਮਾਗਹਿ ਸਤਸੰਗੁ ॥

कई कोटि मागहि सतसंगु ॥

Kaee koti maagahi satasanggu ||

Many millions pray for the Society of the Saints.

ਪਾਰਬ੍ਰਹਮ ਤਿਨ ਲਾਗਾ ਰੰਗੁ ॥

पारब्रहम तिन लागा रंगु ॥

Paarabrham tin laagaa ranggu ||

They are imbued with the Love of the Supreme Lord God.

ਜਿਨ ਕਉ ਹੋਏ ਆਪਿ ਸੁਪ੍ਰਸੰਨ ॥

जिन कउ होए आपि सुप्रसंन ॥

Jin kau hoe aapi suprsann ||

Those with whom He Himself is pleased,

ਨਾਨਕ ਤੇ ਜਨ ਸਦਾ ਧਨਿ ਧੰਨਿ ॥੬॥

नानक ते जन सदा धनि धंनि ॥६॥

Naanak te jan sadaa dhani dhanni ||6||

O Nanak, are blessed, forever blessed. ||6||


ਕਈ ਕੋਟਿ ਖਾਣੀ ਅਰੁ ਖੰਡ ॥

कई कोटि खाणी अरु खंड ॥

Kaee koti khaa(nn)ee aru khandd ||

Many millions are the fields of creation and the galaxies.

ਕਈ ਕੋਟਿ ਅਕਾਸ ਬ੍ਰਹਮੰਡ ॥

कई कोटि अकास ब्रहमंड ॥

Kaee koti akaas brhamandd ||

Many millions are the etheric skies and the solar systems.

ਕਈ ਕੋਟਿ ਹੋਏ ਅਵਤਾਰ ॥

कई कोटि होए अवतार ॥

Kaee koti hoe avataar ||

Many millions are the divine incarnations.

ਕਈ ਜੁਗਤਿ ਕੀਨੋ ਬਿਸਥਾਰ ॥

कई जुगति कीनो बिसथार ॥

Kaee jugati keeno bisathaar ||

In so many ways, He has unfolded Himself.

ਕਈ ਬਾਰ ਪਸਰਿਓ ਪਾਸਾਰ ॥

कई बार पसरिओ पासार ॥

Kaee baar pasario paasaar ||

So many times, He has expanded His expansion.

ਸਦਾ ਸਦਾ ਇਕੁ ਏਕੰਕਾਰ ॥

सदा सदा इकु एकंकार ॥

Sadaa sadaa iku ekankkaar ||

Forever and ever, He is the One, the One Universal Creator.

ਕਈ ਕੋਟਿ ਕੀਨੇ ਬਹੁ ਭਾਤਿ ॥

कई कोटि कीने बहु भाति ॥

Kaee koti keene bahu bhaati ||

Many millions are created in various forms.

ਪ੍ਰਭ ਤੇ ਹੋਏ ਪ੍ਰਭ ਮਾਹਿ ਸਮਾਤਿ ॥

प्रभ ते होए प्रभ माहि समाति ॥

Prbh te hoe prbh maahi samaati ||

From God they emanate, and into God they merge once again.

ਤਾ ਕਾ ਅੰਤੁ ਨ ਜਾਨੈ ਕੋਇ ॥

ता का अंतु न जानै कोइ ॥

Taa kaa anttu na jaanai koi ||

His limits are not known to anyone.

ਆਪੇ ਆਪਿ ਨਾਨਕ ਪ੍ਰਭੁ ਸੋਇ ॥੭॥

आपे आपि नानक प्रभु सोइ ॥७॥

Aape aapi naanak prbhu soi ||7||

Of Himself, and by Himself, O Nanak, God exists. ||7||


ਕਈ ਕੋਟਿ ਪਾਰਬ੍ਰਹਮ ਕੇ ਦਾਸ ॥

कई कोटि पारब्रहम के दास ॥

Kaee koti paarabrham ke daas ||

Many millions are the servants of the Supreme Lord God.

ਤਿਨ ਹੋਵਤ ਆਤਮ ਪਰਗਾਸ ॥

तिन होवत आतम परगास ॥

Tin hovat aatam paragaas ||

Their souls are enlightened.

ਕਈ ਕੋਟਿ ਤਤ ਕੇ ਬੇਤੇ ॥

कई कोटि तत के बेते ॥

Kaee koti tat ke bete ||

Many millions know the essence of reality.

ਸਦਾ ਨਿਹਾਰਹਿ ਏਕੋ ਨੇਤ੍ਰੇ ॥

सदा निहारहि एको नेत्रे ॥

Sadaa nihaarahi eko netre ||

Their eyes gaze forever on the One alone.

ਕਈ ਕੋਟਿ ਨਾਮ ਰਸੁ ਪੀਵਹਿ ॥

कई कोटि नाम रसु पीवहि ॥

Kaee koti naam rasu peevahi ||

Many millions drink in the essence of the Naam.

ਅਮਰ ਭਏ ਸਦ ਸਦ ਹੀ ਜੀਵਹਿ ॥

अमर भए सद सद ही जीवहि ॥

Amar bhae sad sad hee jeevahi ||

They become immortal; they live forever and ever.

ਕਈ ਕੋਟਿ ਨਾਮ ਗੁਨ ਗਾਵਹਿ ॥

कई कोटि नाम गुन गावहि ॥

Kaee koti naam gun gaavahi ||

Many millions sing the Glorious Praises of the Naam.

ਆਤਮ ਰਸਿ ਸੁਖਿ ਸਹਜਿ ਸਮਾਵਹਿ ॥

आतम रसि सुखि सहजि समावहि ॥

Aatam rasi sukhi sahaji samaavahi ||

They are absorbed in intuitive peace and pleasure.

ਅਪੁਨੇ ਜਨ ਕਉ ਸਾਸਿ ਸਾਸਿ ਸਮਾਰੇ ॥

अपुने जन कउ सासि सासि समारे ॥

Apune jan kau saasi saasi samaare ||

He remembers His servants with each and every breath.

ਨਾਨਕ ਓਇ ਪਰਮੇਸੁਰ ਕੇ ਪਿਆਰੇ ॥੮॥੧੦॥

नानक ओइ परमेसुर के पिआरे ॥८॥१०॥

Naanak oi paramesur ke piaare ||8||10||

O Nanak, they are the beloveds of the Transcendent Lord God. ||8||10||

Shalok:

ਕਰਣ ਕਾਰਣ ਪ੍ਰਭੁ ਏਕੁ ਹੈ ਦੂਸਰ ਨਾਹੀ ਕੋਇ ॥

करण कारण प्रभु एकु है दूसर नाही कोइ ॥

Kara(nn) kaara(nn) prbhu eku hai doosar naahee koi ||

God alone is the Doer of deeds - there is no other at all.

ਨਾਨਕ ਤਿਸੁ ਬਲਿਹਾਰਣੈ ਜਲਿ ਥਲਿ ਮਹੀਅਲਿ ਸੋਇ ॥੧॥

नानक तिसु बलिहारणै जलि थलि महीअलि सोइ ॥१॥

Naanak tisu balihaara(nn)ai jali thali maheeali soi ||1||

O Nanak, I am a sacrifice to the One, who pervades the waters, the lands, the sky and all space. ||1||


ਅਸਟਪਦੀ ॥

Ashtapadee:

ਕਰਨ ਕਰਾਵਨ ਕਰਨੈ ਜੋਗੁ ॥

करन करावन करनै जोगु ॥

Karan karaavan karanai jogu ||

The Doer, the Cause of causes, is potent to do anything.

ਜੋ ਤਿਸੁ ਭਾਵੈ ਸੋਈ ਹੋਗੁ ॥

जो तिसु भावै सोई होगु ॥

Jo tisu bhaavai soee hogu ||

That which pleases Him, comes to pass.

ਖਿਨ ਮਹਿ ਥਾਪਿ ਉਥਾਪਨਹਾਰਾ ॥

खिन महि थापि उथापनहारा ॥

Khin mahi thaapi uthaapanahaaraa ||

In an instant, He creates and destroys.

ਅੰਤੁ ਨਹੀ ਕਿਛੁ ਪਾਰਾਵਾਰਾ ॥

अंतु नही किछु पारावारा ॥

Anttu nahee kichhu paaraavaaraa ||

He has no end or limitation.

ਹੁਕਮੇ ਧਾਰਿ ਅਧਰ ਰਹਾਵੈ ॥

हुकमे धारि अधर रहावै ॥

Hukame dhaari adhar rahaavai ||

By His Order, He established the earth, and He maintains it unsupported.

ਹੁਕਮੇ ਉਪਜੈ ਹੁਕਮਿ ਸਮਾਵੈ ॥

हुकमे उपजै हुकमि समावै ॥

Hukame upajai hukami samaavai ||

By His Order, the world was created; by His Order, it shall merge again into Him.

ਹੁਕਮੇ ਊਚ ਨੀਚ ਬਿਉਹਾਰ ॥

हुकमे ऊच नीच बिउहार ॥

Hukame uch neech biuhaar ||

By His Order, one's occupation is high or low.

ਹੁਕਮੇ ਅਨਿਕ ਰੰਗ ਪਰਕਾਰ ॥

हुकमे अनिक रंग परकार ॥

Hukame anik rangg parakaar ||

By His Order, there are so many colors and forms.

ਕਰਿ ਕਰਿ ਦੇਖੈ ਅਪਨੀ ਵਡਿਆਈ ॥

करि करि देखै अपनी वडिआई ॥

Kari kari dekhai apanee vadiaaee ||

Having created the Creation, He beholds His own greatness.

ਨਾਨਕ ਸਭ ਮਹਿ ਰਹਿਆ ਸਮਾਈ ॥੧॥

नानक सभ महि रहिआ समाई ॥१॥

Naanak sabh mahi rahiaa samaaee ||1||

O Nanak, He is pervading in all. ||1||


ਪ੍ਰਭ ਭਾਵੈ ਮਾਨੁਖ ਗਤਿ ਪਾਵੈ ॥

प्रभ भावै मानुख गति पावै ॥

Prbh bhaavai maanukh gati paavai ||

If it pleases God, one attains salvation.

ਪ੍ਰਭ ਭਾਵੈ ਤਾ ਪਾਥਰ ਤਰਾਵੈ ॥

प्रभ भावै ता पाथर तरावै ॥

Prbh bhaavai taa paathar taraavai ||

If it pleases God, then even stones can swim.

ਪ੍ਰਭ ਭਾਵੈ ਬਿਨੁ ਸਾਸ ਤੇ ਰਾਖੈ ॥

प्रभ भावै बिनु सास ते राखै ॥

Prbh bhaavai binu saas te raakhai ||

If it pleases God, the body is preserved, even without the breath of life.

ਪ੍ਰਭ ਭਾਵੈ ਤਾ ਹਰਿ ਗੁਣ ਭਾਖੈ ॥

प्रभ भावै ता हरि गुण भाखै ॥

Prbh bhaavai taa hari gu(nn) bhaakhai ||

If it pleases God, then one chants the Lord's Glorious Praises.

ਪ੍ਰਭ ਭਾਵੈ ਤਾ ਪਤਿਤ ਉਧਾਰੈ ॥

प्रभ भावै ता पतित उधारै ॥

Prbh bhaavai taa patit udhaarai ||

If it pleases God, then even sinners are saved.

ਆਪਿ ਕਰੈ ਆਪਨ ਬੀਚਾਰੈ ॥

आपि करै आपन बीचारै ॥

Aapi karai aapan beechaarai ||

He Himself acts, and He Himself contemplates.

ਦੁਹਾ ਸਿਰਿਆ ਕਾ ਆਪਿ ਸੁਆਮੀ ॥

दुहा सिरिआ का आपि सुआमी ॥

Duhaa siriaa kaa aapi suaamee ||

He Himself is the Master of both worlds.

ਖੇਲੈ ਬਿਗਸੈ ਅੰਤਰਜਾਮੀ ॥

खेलै बिगसै अंतरजामी ॥

Khelai bigasai anttarajaamee ||

He plays and He enjoys; He is the Inner-knower, the Searcher of hearts.

ਜੋ ਭਾਵੈ ਸੋ ਕਾਰ ਕਰਾਵੈ ॥

जो भावै सो कार करावै ॥

Jo bhaavai so kaar karaavai ||

As He wills, He causes actions to be done.

ਨਾਨਕ ਦ੍ਰਿਸਟੀ ਅਵਰੁ ਨ ਆਵੈ ॥੨॥

नानक द्रिसटी अवरु न आवै ॥२॥

Naanak drisatee avaru na aavai ||2||

Nanak sees no other than Him. ||2||


ਕਹੁ ਮਾਨੁਖ ਤੇ ਕਿਆ ਹੋਇ ਆਵੈ ॥

कहु मानुख ते किआ होइ आवै ॥

Kahu maanukh te kiaa hoi aavai ||

Tell me - what can a mere mortal do?

ਜੋ ਤਿਸੁ ਭਾਵੈ ਸੋਈ ਕਰਾਵੈ ॥

जो तिसु भावै सोई करावै ॥

Jo tisu bhaavai soee karaavai ||

Whatever pleases God is what He causes us to do.

ਇਸ ਕੈ ਹਾਥਿ ਹੋਇ ਤਾ ਸਭੁ ਕਿਛੁ ਲੇਇ ॥

इस कै हाथि होइ ता सभु किछु लेइ ॥

Is kai haathi hoi taa sabhu kichhu lei ||

If it were in our hands, we would grab up everything.

ਜੋ ਤਿਸੁ ਭਾਵੈ ਸੋਈ ਕਰੇਇ ॥

जो तिसु भावै सोई करेइ ॥

Jo tisu bhaavai soee karei ||

Whatever pleases God - that is what He does.

ਅਨਜਾਨਤ ਬਿਖਿਆ ਮਹਿ ਰਚੈ ॥

अनजानत बिखिआ महि रचै ॥

Anajaanat bikhiaa mahi rachai ||

Through ignorance, people are engrossed in corruption.

ਜੇ ਜਾਨਤ ਆਪਨ ਆਪ ਬਚੈ ॥

जे जानत आपन आप बचै ॥

Je jaanat aapan aap bachai ||

If they knew better, they would save themselves.

ਭਰਮੇ ਭੂਲਾ ਦਹ ਦਿਸਿ ਧਾਵੈ ॥

भरमे भूला दह दिसि धावै ॥

Bharame bhoolaa dah disi dhaavai ||

Deluded by doubt, they wander around in the ten directions.

ਨਿਮਖ ਮਾਹਿ ਚਾਰਿ ਕੁੰਟ ਫਿਰਿ ਆਵੈ ॥

निमख माहि चारि कुंट फिरि आवै ॥

Nimakh maahi chaari kuntt phiri aavai ||

In an instant, their minds go around the four corners of the world and come back again.

ਕਰਿ ਕਿਰਪਾ ਜਿਸੁ ਅਪਨੀ ਭਗਤਿ ਦੇਇ ॥

करि किरपा जिसु अपनी भगति देइ ॥

Kari kirapaa jisu apanee bhagati dei ||

Those whom the Lord mercifully blesses with His devotional worship

ਨਾਨਕ ਤੇ ਜਨ ਨਾਮਿ ਮਿਲੇਇ ॥੩॥

नानक ते जन नामि मिलेइ ॥३॥

Naanak te jan naami milei ||3||

- O Nanak, they are absorbed into the Naam. ||3||


ਖਿਨ ਮਹਿ ਨੀਚ ਕੀਟ ਕਉ ਰਾਜ ॥

खिन महि नीच कीट कउ राज ॥

Khin mahi neech keet kau raaj ||

In an instant, the lowly worm is transformed into a king.

ਪਾਰਬ੍ਰਹਮ ਗਰੀਬ ਨਿਵਾਜ ॥

पारब्रहम गरीब निवाज ॥

Paarabrham gareeb nivaaj ||

The Supreme Lord God is the Protector of the humble.

ਜਾ ਕਾ ਦ੍ਰਿਸਟਿ ਕਛੂ ਨ ਆਵੈ ॥

जा का द्रिसटि कछू न आवै ॥

Jaa kaa drisati kachhoo na aavai ||

Even one who has never been seen at all,

ਤਿਸੁ ਤਤਕਾਲ ਦਹ ਦਿਸ ਪ੍ਰਗਟਾਵੈ ॥

तिसु ततकाल दह दिस प्रगटावै ॥

Tisu tatakaal dah dis prgataavai ||

Becomes instantly famous in the ten directions.

ਜਾ ਕਉ ਅਪੁਨੀ ਕਰੈ ਬਖਸੀਸ ॥

जा कउ अपुनी करै बखसीस ॥

Jaa kau apunee karai bakhasees ||

And that one upon whom He bestows His blessings
